Places Description Sticks The slums of Central, houses stacked one atop another with a system of pillars, called sticks because they are in the low lake lands so most are on these stilts. The Tower The Link building, the government center of the nation. It's tall, imposing, and where 90% of the government's activity takes place. The Link reside in the top floors, all offices are below. There are assembly halls and there is a great amphitheater in the central square under the Tower's shadow. Solaris Collective name for the cracked lands and the desert. Most don't specify unless traveling to one or the other specifically. Home to the Thens. Denthel is the largest Then settlement, an entire city built into the sides of the massive Denthel Ravine. Dar'Ran Woods Though no one lives here presently, the forest is home to plenty of eerie ruins. Few travel there and there are plenty of strange legends built around those trees. There are no roads leading into the forest, simply right to it and it ends at the trees. Central The pride and joy of Core, the capitol city is a jewel of human advancement, home to the Fours Link and nearly all government activity. Located on the peninsula jutting out into the sapphire-colored Lake Coryin, this shining city is home to all kinds of peoples, opportunities, and walks of life. Most are educated to some degree, though with all that knowledge, most within the city are oblivious to how the rest of the world functions. Old Central Out in western Solaris, Old Central stands as a testament to humanity an estimated ninety three years previous. Skyscrapers that would have been impressive, now dwarfed by Central constructs, stand abandoned and crumbling. The entire city has been quarantined and closed off as a hazard zone and any roads going in and out were blocked to traffic decades ago. There are no official residents, nor is there any plan in the works to tear down the city to make way for something new. There are numerous stories surrounding Old Central's inhabitants and how to got to be in the state in which it currently resides. The official statement given by the Link fifty years ago still stands that there was a bio weapon attack on the city, Core's previous capitol, launched during the Blackout, and that the city will not be open to the public for an estimated two hundred years as they wait for the bio weapon to break down and cease to be harmful. Among Scavs, this statement is known to be false as it is a popular spot for finding all sorts of things, despite it being dangerous for other reasons- unstable buildings, roads that collapse without warning into the disused subway system, wild beasts that prowl the streets at night, and turf wars. The statement only still stands because Scavs are generally viewed as uneducated and thus are never taken seriously or given a voice. Ide Sat atop the only high ground in the Tel'Marin Marsh before one reaches the foothills of the Briar Mountains, Ide's lights shine across the shallow water and high grasses for miles, her lanterns glowing brightly. Red-tiled roofs of the mud-sand mixture that blows south from Solaris stand tall, pillars of education, rich culture, and a wealthy lifestyle. The streams and pools nearby and extending to Renlen shine with all colors of bio-luminescence. Many Merks are currently caught in a fiasco of construction. The locals want to keep the pools while the government of this area wishes to import sand and stone from Solaris to fill them in so that more towns and cities can be built on the marsh land. Other towns in Tel'Marin share these same traits and troubles. Deepwood Nestled deep in Yarith, the Deepwood is a most unique town, multi-layered with large, sturdy boardwalks and ramps winding far up into the massive trees. Largely a tree house city, most of the people here only touch ground when they need to leave for somewhere else. That aside, the network is plenty large for daily traffic. Lights in this city are a-plenty as the thick canopy prevents much of the sun's light from penetrating, even at high noon. Longfield Right at the mouth of Lake Coryin, Longfield is the largest gathering of structures in Centrafield, the second largest marketplace in Core asides Telarin Square in Central. There are fishermen on the lake shores nearby, ferries going to the other cities bordering the lake, and farmers from all across the fields coming to sell their goods.
Terms Definition HoloTech Personalized holographic databases, usually supported by some sort of wristband. They can provide forecast, access to the BlueNet, maps, as well as instant messaging. There are of course other augmentations one can get for their Holo ranging from medical diagnostics to night vision filters. These augmentations cost money. Information can be updated and augmentations installed at Holo Points. There is usually one hub per large city. BlueNet Core's version of the internet, a repository of information, news, and even games. The only problem with it is the pro-Fours censorship, restricted access to some sites, and carefully worded forms of media. There are ways around that, though... VisWear Invisibility-based items of all shapes and sizes. The older models can be faulty but of course for those the price is lower. There are rumors of new tech coming out, of course only available to the super wealthy. The Nearly Human Project Spurred by the massive death toll and amount of life-changing injuries resulting from the Blackout, Troy Farnsworth and his team began researching deeper into prosthetic and the idea of matching the human body more closely, going so far as to integrate limbs with electrical nervous systems that could be integrated into the existing body. As things got more intricate, people with these prosthetics- some would undergo operations willingly to "upgrade" limbs- came to be called Cys. From that eventually sprang the first Android- a human-like robot. The Blackout 57 years ago, the entirety of Core came under attack. All major cities in Core, with Central hit the hardest, were assaulted by a mysterious force though to have been comprised of members of the Underground. The conflict lasted a week, though skirmishes continued for a month after that before the attacking force disappeared all together. It's thought that the only real appearance of this force was for the first week and all others were simply seeking opportunity in the chaos. The event that initiated the Blackout was a systematic shutting down of communications among the cities, then a number of bombs detonated on the 76th floor of the Tower. They targeted the building's main structural supports, causing the eight floors above it to collapse downward, killing many government workers and officials, as well as pedestrians in the area. Link members Miranda Penn, Damien Holt, and Carter Lewis died in the demolition, leaving Quintus Colbran the only remaining survivor of the Link and the one to head the retaliation, however by the time things could be pulled together, the attacks stopped. An anonymous order to cease fire was issued and the culprits were never caught. Eventually they were given a name- the Shadow Birds. By the end of the year, Cassandra Perin, Regina Salazar, and Royce Branwen had been admitted to the Link. Solaris Systems Nearly two-thirds of Core's energy is supplied by Solaris Systems, a solar panel company based in Solaris of course. As such, most of their customers are Thens who wire the panels directly to lighting their mines. SS also proudly develops new kinds of solar tech every day ranging from window panes to simple sprays that one could clamp wires to. There's something newer and more efficient every day.
Race Appearance Description Scavs All skin tones, hair colors, and are of average size. Scavengers, not settled in any one place, they live off the left behind. They dwell anywhere they please and are welcome and generally have a sense of strong dislike for the Fours Link and the hierarchy. Many are not educated unless by their parents, if they knew them. Scavs generally have the lowest life expectancy and are very rough around the edges people. Old Scavs garner great respect. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑You know two rumors at the start of the story and one entrance to an underground network.Ravens Usually lighter skinned, thinner framed. Anyone working for the government as Core's official colors are black and yellow/gold and uniforms use great amounts of the former. Government workers are also more often than not wealthy and educated, thus they fit the mold of ravens being intelligent birds. They strongly detest Scavs. More often than not, Ravens double as Pidges. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑You have a government ID and thus have more wiggle room regarding your actions in the city. Depending on rank you may have access to certain things others do not.Merks Light skin, dark hair, small and lithe people. Asian features. Marsh-dwellers of the southeastern towns and cities. They are a cultured people, creators of all the nation's luminescence. Electric lights from hydro-plants along the rivers, woven lanterns and other goods, and researchers of bio-luminescence. The majority of the population are merchants and artisans, favoring a life of travel. They strongly discourage the entrance of Scavs into Tel'Marin. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑Acquainted with Tel'Marin's merchant network, you can gain information about various dangers on the roads, which routes to avoid.Brigs Light skin, hair ranging brown, blonde, and red. Builds are taller, bulkier. Anyone crazy enough to live where it snows or in Frostwood at the foothills of the Whispering Wood. They're more forgiving to Scavs as they realize the only other place that will welcome them is the Whitebriar. They're a people who don't ask questions of strangers, content to live what lives they have. They are suspicious of Ravens. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑The Whispering Wood does not confuse you. You also have some resistance to the cold if you have lived most of your life in the snows.Thens Dark skin, dark hair, thin and tall. Crag-dwellers of Solaris Cracked lands and the Solaris Desert. They favor bright colors and export most of the city's metalworks. Beneath the crags are Core's mines, running deep from red rock to the dark-stoned caves. To stay out of the sun's heat as well, Then dwellings are carved into the sides of these ravines and canyons below the cracked lands, streets and driveways a series of bridges and boardwalks. Knowing how unforgiving the desert is, they do not discourage Scavs and as such, many tend to drift about Solaris. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑Training to be able to see far to the horizon has made your eyes unusually sharp. You notice many things.Arans Light to well-tanned skin, brown and blonde hair, tall and lean. Dwellers of the lush, southern forest of Yarith. Because of their proximity to the capitol, they think well of pidges and share the same views on Scavs as the other city folk. They also have the most recent grade of technology apart from the capitol itself and have a generally well-educated population. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑You can see better than most in low light and are experienced in climbing and hiding in lush areas.Pidges All skins, hairs, and builds. City folk, named after pigeons by any living outside Central. Pidges will never call themselves pidges, they think the term is offensive- it's meant to be. They think Scavs are detestable and are generally very close-minded about the rest of Core's residents. Unless in the Sticks, Pidges are generally very well-educated and are exposed to the most recent technology on a daily basis. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑You have a grasp of technology that others do not and are well-learned in most areas. You know a number of HoloTech points.Jays Tanned skin, hair ranging brown to black. Usually muscular builds, heavier, average height. Residents of Centrafield, most are farmers or craft artisans. The rolling hills and warm climate of Centrafield with regular breeze makes for a comfortable lifestyle with ease of access to food, as well as wealth from tolls on the many roads cutting through Core's heartland. ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑ ⎒ ⎑Travelling around Core is easier. You can find transport and a place to stay with little trouble. You are regarded well by most, even at solely first impressions.

Second of Solaris
An esteemed man of a wealthy family with generations in the Skywalk district of Central, Kalaris took his role in the Fours Link as the comforting face that the public would see, though before that he was a professor at Central's most noteworthy university. He is social, a persuasive speaker, and a brilliant scholar. Since joining the Link, his most notable efforts have been in the realm of schooling for the middle and lower classes as well and the steps he has taken to better standard of living in the Sticks. He has also made contributions to Nearly Human. He was invited to join the Link following the sudden death of Regina Salazar in an unfortunate terrorist attack on the Tower.
"Education is a universal key. There will always be problems, thus there must always be well-prepared minds to solve those. The future rests on the bright young people of Core. The torch must be passed on and it cannot be allowed to go out."

Fourth of Tel'Marin
Despite Core being a stand-alone nation, it does have a functioning military force lead by none other than the fierce Lady Perin. Former Chief of Police in Tel'Marin, she’s an excellent strategist and her lifetime has been nothing but a display of dedication and loyalty to the well-being of Core’s public. Being called upon by Quintus to bring the Blackout to an end earned her nation-wide recognition as a warrior and a hero and soon after, she was invited to join the Link. She's known as the Iron Lady and appears in public often, usually for assemblies at her old university. She graduated from Central University for the Sciences with a masters in mechanical engineering and a bachelors degree in communications. Her most notable contributions include security systems and databases, both physical and on the net.
"Never underestimate the power of will. The strong-willed can accomplish more than even they may think possible of themselves. Learn what determines a good man from a great man. Strive to be both but know they are different."

Third of Yarith
Youngest member of the Fours Link, Royce Branwen made his debut as a city planner, a visionary of an architect, and something of a genius concerning designing buildings to be efficient, well-constructed and at a low cost. He is famously known for "breaking the triangle" of "cheap, good quality, short time, pick two" with his most famous work being the fully inhabitable bridge/town hybrid connecting East Central and the island Lark. Since joining the Link, he has continued to bring these revolutions in building technology to the broader scope of the world outside the city, though anyone can see Central has become his pride and joy. His public standing is stellar as many recognize his countless contributions to Core’s infrastructure.
"The people want change, they want to see the Sticks cleaned up. They want to see something new, something exciting.-
For instance, people want a bridge from Riverfly to Fairview sure, it's settled. Have a beautiful new bridge."

First of Centrafield
From the head of Core's largest research institution to a head of the nation and all the escapades previous to these positions, Mr. Colbran has led a most impressive career. Hailing from a merchant family in Flats, he is currently the oldest member of the Link and has lent to countless discoveries, inventions, and corporations including HoloTech, Blue Net, the flight systems used in most vehicles today, Vis Wears, Nearly Human, and Solaris Systems. His public appearances are few and far in between and he keeps to an elevated status among any public gatherings, usually choosing seclusion at assemblies.
"Stepping forward is what counts the most. Humanity can always improve, there's no end to what can be accomplished if the right people can pull the right ideas together."
Solaris Desert: A swath of extremes in the heart of Core, the Solaris Desert is made of two regions- the Cracked Lands to the west and the Sands to the east. Both are equally treacherous with deadly heat and cold, sandstorms, and the beasts that reside therein. The Solaris Desert is inhabited by the Thens.
Tel'Marin Marsh: Stretching for miles, these flat, soggy river lands are home to the Merks, a people of culture and dignity despite the state of their lands. They are the source of the nation's electricity with impressive hydroelectric plants and are also a major output of paper and woven goods.
Centrafield: Not a very impressive name but its vast fields provide Core with much of its food and outside the city, is where the bulk of the population resides. There are few dangers here so rather than the region comprised of largely one group of people, those from all corners of Core come to live and work here.
The Whispering Wood: With an eerie name and even eerier legends surrounding these tall, snowy pines, few bother calling these woods home. Even the northernmost settlement, Frostwood, is located at the very edge of the forest rather than within it. There are no established roads here as no one travels North.
Yarith Forest: Lush, dense, and close to Central, the home of the Arans is scattered with towns beneath the trees and unsurprisingly, they are the major lumber supplier to the rest of Core. Just be sure to bring a map as dangers do lurk off the roads and with trees too dense for sunlight, one gets lost easily.
