Futuristic Break The Chains 1x1

Dark, darker, yet darker. A shadowed room lay built into the Inferos compound, with no light to be seen in the slightest. Though if one were to turn on a light in here, they’d see that this is no ordinary room. Instead it’s a padded cell, lined with the usual tiles akin to a pillow on every surface of the room. Some were torn and shredded, presumably from previous inhabitants biting at the padding. Others had strange stains on them, indicating that despite putting mentally unstable inmates in a straight jacket it didn’t stop their bad behavior. Some still tried to ram their heads into the wall, until their bruises split open and finally shed the blood they so desired. Others committed all sorts of disgustinf acts that left the majority of the stains present, most common of which was yellow. It was a mess to be sure, and in the middle of it all sat a lone red headed individual. As per usual he was bound in a straight jacket that was done up especially tight, removing the use of his arms.

Ezro Strider, former officer of the ITF, had been in this cell for a week now. While occasionally lights would be turned on so he could be fed or use the good old bucket, for the most part he’d remained in total darkness and isolation. He wasn’t in here because he was crazy by any means, but rather because of the fact that those who had placed him here intended on break his mind before being let out to mingle amongst the other filth inhabiting this rock. Despite the constant feeling of being watched in the dark, the maddening heat, and the sickening feeling of having not showered in a long while, Ezro’s mind was still strong as strong as ever. The only repercussion he’d suffered was the constant boredom, but he spent most of his time meditating and listening to the sounds outside his cell door.

Today was a lot more different than the rest, there was a lot more activity going on outside. Ezro could hear the sound of voices, pacing feet, and the shuffle of weapons, all of which occurred right close. Something new was going to happen. Either they were going to put him out of his misery, or they’d given up and were preparing to move him to normal living quarters.

Sure enough, his questions were answered just after his morning bowl of lumpy porridge that undoubtedly had been made from spoiled milk and sprouting oats. It was disgusting, but it was food. The bowl was licked clean, and Ezro returned it to the outside through a shitter in the door as the lights shut off once again. It was only for ten minutes that he waited for something to happen, when a tired female voice came over the intercom in his room.

“Prisoner 13502, your mental stability has been cleared by our psychiatric evaluators. Please standby for cell transfer, do not resist or attempt to attack the guards transporting you or you will not be offered a second chance for clearance. Stand up and face the door, do not move until instructed otherwise.”

‘Cleared huh? More like you bastards just got tired of watching me sit here sleeping and meditating.’ Ezro thought gruffly to himself as he followed their instructions. “Well whatever, let’s get this over with.’

The door before him, for the first time in a week, creaked open and two armed individuals entered and took ahold of his arms. They said something similar to what the woman from earlier had, before moving him forward and out of this cell. Ezro’s let’s were a little wobbly, seeing hasn’t he hadn’t used them much over his time in the cell. It was almost like he’d been reverted to his days as a new born, walking as if it were his first day. Ezro stumbled and almost fell, only to be caught by one of the guards and sharply jabbed with the butt of a pulse rifle in the back of his head which just made him nearly fall again. The guard learned his lesson and held Ezro up, this time not inflicting and hits to the head and instead hit at Ezro’s right side. The Inmate muttered something unintelligible before their journey resumed.

It would be a long walk, seeing as solitary confinement cells were located on the exact opposite side of the compound from the normal cell blocks. So Ezro had plenty of time to think, and think he did. His thoughts wandered to the day he’d first arrived, being bound up in chains before the mass of prisoners, humiliated and already made as a target for them. The Warden had been cruel enough to finally reveal who it was Ezro had apparently murdered, that being his older brother Haec. The media, court case, and even those associated with the incident had managed to keep their traps shut. But not this bastard.

“Don’t you dare! You have no right to speak of this! Throw my name through the mud all you wish I don’t care, but do not speak of him!”

Ezro’s soul burned with a slight rage as he thought about how he’d begged that bastard of a Warden, Matso Titan, only for his words to fall on deaf ears and to be humiliated further. Silently, he swore to himself that he’d make Matso pay for what had transpired.

Ezro’s thoughts of vengeance were quickly interrupted by the guards halting their momentum, and standing before a cell labeled with his ID number of 13502. This would be where Ezro would presumably live out with the rest of his days. As the heavy metal door swung open, one of the guards held him tight while the other removed the straight jacket from him.

“Home sweet home, enjoy your days rotting away in this place scumbag.”

Ezro was spat on before being shoved into the cell and locked inside. The inmate stumbled forward before finally crashing to the ground with a grunt. His arms moved around freely once more, which allowed him to post up and stand on his own. The appendages were stretched out followed by cracking and aching joints. After wiping the spit from the back of his head, Ezro slammed his fist into the solid Iron door and called after the guards.

“Rotting in here is a much more desirable fate than serving as another bitch to the ITF!”

Laughs ensued from the departing soldiers, prompting Ezro to growl and withdraw his hand from the door with a growl. Looking around his cell, there wasn’t much to it, there was an uncomfortable looking bed, a table complete with a lamp, and a crude looking toilet. Letting off a heavy sigh, Ezro approached the bed before sitting down and leaning forward on his knees. There, he began to plot once more, formulating his plan of escape.
