There was a lot of reshuffling in the gecklicko command structure many rank having shifted quickly as the rebellious actions of the forward command group had come to light months earlier battalions of walkers being awoken and repaired to be sent to the front keeping logistics on their toes day in and day out the quarter master Iggy mors was darting around requiring an exosuit to carry the piles of paperwork needed despite the state of emergency, everything needed to be in its proper place leaving the poor woman to wonder why they hell they rebelled had something corrupted their spirits? No couldn’t be right? Hot headed youngster that believed in some kind of manifest destiny? That seemed likely honestly she didn’t know she just wanted this to be over soon there where already casualties and it was in the fact of themselves..

World Tree
1673987468772.png

1673987586531.pngIn all his centuries of living, Ellario had not seen the world as busy as it was right now. Nations and people were mingling and cooperating in ways that they had never done so before. He wasn't a technophobe, but he preferred the old days where people had to interact with one another and you could look someone in their eyes and determine their mood. But those days were gone and he wouldn't dare contemplate sending his people back to the days of quills and parchment for his own preferences. Either way this weaving of fates of different people was good as those same bonds would be needed to stand against the demons whenever they returned in force. in the interest of keeping up with their growing neighbors, Ellario had charged Warden Gihu'nan to construct a new village in the forest. This would be the elves' first expansion since the founding of Halamshiral centuries ago so the nation was abuzz with excitement.

1673985996395.png
1673987614965.pngTalsyn, named for the homestead that the Wood Elves left behind when Halamshiral was founded, the village was a marvel as it blended nature into every inch of village infrastructure. As Ellario and his retinue arrived to the village and were greeted by Gihu'nan, the forest seemed to sing and thrum with energy. "We bow before the World Tree's chosen." The Warden was accompanied by other important figures among the Wood Elf community and they followed their leader's lead by bowing as she did. Ellario nodded his head in appreciation and then stepped forward to engage with his Warden. "Tell me Gihu'nan, how was it to build a new home for you people under the World Tree?" A smile stretched across Ellario's face as he thought back to the day he planted the tree's seed in what was at the time an empty field.

"Halamshiral is a beautiful city, my King, but we feel more at home in the forests of the World Tree. We are grateful for the World Tree's gift and bounty." The two left their retinue's behind and started to wander through the village as Gihu'nan gave Ellario a tour. They then came to the village's meeting hall. The building was empty and as they entered, Gihu'nan closed the door behind them, locking it. "I must share some dire news with you, my King."

As he turned to face the Warden, Ellario's smile and the look of excitement on his face started to fade. "We are listening." He replied.

Gihu'nan let out a heavy sigh and looked the King in his eyes. "I encountered some foreigners who spoke of...demons. It seems they have finally returned." They news broke Ellario's heart and he seemed to shrink as he stepped back, putting distance between him and Gihu'nan. "I wanted to tell you in secret to avoid panic and disorder."

While she spok, flashbacks played in Ellario's mind of the last demon attack. He could never forget the fires that burned their old home or the monstrous creatures that cackled in the smoke and ashes. "We..." His mind raced with thoughts as he failed to wrangle control over them all.

"There is no need to worry, your grace. The World tree has a united people to protect it. The Wood Elves and the elves of the Legion will not allow the demons to win again." The words brought Ellario some comfort and slowed his pounding heart. He wanted to be the guardian that the World Tree and his people needed, but he was a King with no combat or war experience. "I...I will return to Halamshiral and meet with General Telmen. We need to get ahead of this." The King said softly.

West of the city, Averual, a citizen of the Sea Elf fleet, stood on the cliffs at the edge of the World tree's forest and watched the waves crash upon the rocks. He let out a low sigh and raked his fingers back through his hair. "What I'd give to return to the sea." He turned his head to glance back over his shoulder at the World Tree, looming over him like a jailor. "I don't owe you anything." Like many of the children who were too young to remember the demon attacks and now too old to put their faith in the World Tree whom they did not grow up with, Averual felt disconnected from the great tree and instead longed for the homestead lifestyle that the elves had adopted in the tree's absence. This sentiment was shared more so among those who once called the sea home and were now bound to the forests of the World Tree until such time their Navy was needed. There were young elves among the Sun Elves who harbored a similar unhappiness after having spent time interacting with the mortal races only to become isolated from them, forcing them to lose friends and loved ones with no chance to say their final goodbyes.

The exile of the Legion was finally over. They had been accepted back into the fold of the World Tree and had found new purpose in their existence. Without a need to recreate the world tree Project Genesis could be turned to other pursuits. Though the High General Telmen had met with the King of the World Tree their conversation had not gone to plan. Rather then seizing the military potential that Genesis could be the King had ordered it ceased. In response Telmen had gone underground with the project. Though their bases had not been particularly open before World Tree suddenly found the Legion far more secretive. They were suddenly less willing to proffer information in response to any inquiries. It was evident however that efforts were being made to expand operations in the city of Lostla however, as the High General ordered the construction and upgrade of existing facilities. To what end was not clear. Mobilization efforts were obvious as well when battalions of Genesis troops formed up and marched out of Lostla to the Southwest. At the head of their columns marched elf officers, and following was the artillery batteries that had been stationed in the city for ages now.

Goo scooched down among the manicured grass at the base of the statue, running her fingers over the polished scripture at it's base. Behind her, workmen of various sizes and statures were well underway packing up another successful concert by the starlet star maker and her idols. It was her latest superstar that now stood by her side behind the iron fence, watching her with confusion as she silently paid her respects.

"Uh... Goo Goo? What we doing ere?" asked Brik A'Brak, his shades almost dangling from the end of his long nose.

"Just keep making sure no-ones watching, darling."

Swinging her neck around in one swift motion, a silver pendant was revealed, the burnished letter S at it's tip landing in her ample bosom. Normally hidden down her back, the piece in itself was not remarkable in anyway in it's appearance, looking no more than a common personalised pendant, but it was one of the most valuable items in all of New Yong.

Bending low, she held the S to the only missing letter of the plaque. Slotting it into to place, the ground made a low rumble as it gave way, revealing a hidden stairway. Brik A'Brak pierced eyebrows raised in astonishment, his lip pursed in pleasant surprise. Goo sequestered her pendant. "Let's be quick dear"

Without waiting Goo strode into the darkness of the opening. "Ey Lad's!" Brik A'Brak hissed, careful not to alert anyone "Get ya butts ere quick!"

Only just visible from behind the statue, Brik A'Brak had to wave his arms to get his bandmates full attention. Hurriedly, Bibel, Chotchy and Knackers hopped the fence, with Bibel swinging from the top, carefully holding on to his top hat. With one last look around, Lucille in Chains followed into the tunnel.

The darkness of the entrance quickly fell to light, as the Goblins traversed the stairs, the fire from the torches on the walls illuminating the darkened space. With careful deliberation the band took each step as they came. Rounding a corner they caught sight of Goo on her hands and knees beside an elaborate door. Tilting their heads to admire the view, Brik A'Brak slammed his band mates heads together. "Dat's our boss, you louts" he whispered

Getting to her feet, Goo picked up her ruby pumps and held them by a finger, taking a step towards the wall. "Darlings, will you please bow before the door"

"Uh... Why?" asked Brik A'Brak, turning away from his chastising.

"This is the final step in becoming a true idol of New Yong. While you may be able to play and perform for the gracious masses, only this step truly matters for our mission. For we are the eternal enemy of the SONG." Goo's soft tone suddenly changed "I had hoped to bring those two laughable leaders of that stupid religion down here with us, to have them rescind their idiotic belief by shoving the truth in the faces, but they slinked away at the end of the concert like the snakes they were. How infuriating!"

She held her pumps against the wall, intending to vent her anger with them against the stone but she stopped herself, and took a long deep breath. "But steps are being taken so deep breathes" she muttered to herself.

"So please gentlemen, bow before the door. Only through paying the proper respect will it open"

The Goblins did what they were told, though with some trepidation, their small frames allowing each one to bow comfortably on a step. With a groan, the door opened, the dragon eyes upon it growing dim. Goo put her shoes back on and led Lucille In Chains into the chamber.

Massive in scope, the room was bare apart from the tremendous doors, almost three stories in height, at each angle of the circular chamber. Stepping into the space, Brik A'Brak let out a sharp whistle. Suddenly there was a horrifying roar from within the chamber, one of the doors on the far side shaking on it's hinges as something bashed against it. Other noises began to follow emanating from the other doors within the room, moaning and screeching in rage. "Do not worry child. The Black Dragon's cell has remained intact for thousands of years, it will stand another thousand more."

Standing with their instruments drawn, the Goblins searched the room for the voice. It was Chotchy, who spied a relaxed Goo, lazily pointing to beside her feet. Following her finger, Chotchy grimaced slightly at the desiccated, withered mummy at her feet. Dressed in an ancient Gi, the creature sat cross legged on the floor. Ever so slowly the mummy opened its eyes.

"Gentlemen. This is our Great Guardian Ping" elaborated Goo, waving her arm over the mummified monk. "It's is she who has watched over the maddening monsters the SONG has brought into the land since colonial times, giving herself wholly to the Green Dragon's mission so many centuries ago. Through sheer perseverance and meditation she has remained a stalwart shield against the greatest evil of the SONG ensconced in each of these rooms."

She looked at each member of Lucille in Chains in turn "It is through her enlightened eyes, that your worthiness to our cause will be deemed."

"And if we ain't worthy?" asked a concerned Knackers, absently drawing his fingers across his nose to ear chain.

Goo didn't answer the question, simply turning her head away as if to disown them.

Laggard and gently the Great Guardian began to smile. "Come closer, honoured friends. Let me see you..."

As the full moon rose into the night sky, illuminating the Great White City, a strange and terrifying ritual began to commence in the heart of the newly renovated metropolis. A colossal Demogorgon idol clutched at the sky, drums pounded out rhythms of anger and passion at its feet and in the lap of the demon... a ghostly figure danced amid tongues of hellish flame.

"Hate, my brothers and sisters!" Adrienne raised a hand into the sky. "Hates gives me the power! The power to walk unshod on a carpet of fire!" She proclaimed as her feet danced across a bed of hot coals. "The power to resist all who would stand in my way! Our way!" She raised both hands skywards. "Hate is the puissance supreme! The mover of all things! Chant with me! In the name of the Monyet Dukun cry; Hate!"

Laying prone before the massive monument, the audience responded in unholy litany. "Hate!"

"Hate!" The Dark Priestess screamed louder.

"Hate!" The audience returned in kind.

"Hate!" Adrienne screamed again.

"Hate!" The audience cries reached a crescendo.

"Behold, o' my brothers and sisters!" The Priestess of Hate pointed at a straw man to her right side. "Let this straw man symbolize those we hate! Let it be all men, all mortal kind! All whom we shall rip asunder!" Adrienne began tearing the straw man to pieces with her clawed fingertips.

"For we hate all! We! Hate! All!"

The frenzied female turned to the crowd with crazed eyes. "Lift your voices to the heavens, believers! Sing the hymns of hate! Scream your power to the stars!"

The doomsong rose to a fever pitch and soon, one chant was heard above all.

"Long live the Monyet Dukun! Long live the Empire of Hate!"

Fluff

PM Todorevic ran his hands through his snow-white hair. The synod almost unilaterally voted to pour more funding into Crescent Biotechnics. Now they were building weapons. Wasn't this supposed to be a medical imagining company? Now they were engineering soldier templates. Something just didn't feel right to the wizened old man. Things felt too conveniently placed. The political uprisings didn't help either.

"Where to stand on the goblin question?" he thought to himself. "The faith says they are bringers of the end times. But the ones that have been captured had thoughts and feelings." He hated death and suffering in nearly any form. As an ex-medic in the first Ratha Crusade, he saw all manner of violence and suffering. The country was in a state of utter panic right now- ready to tear itself apart at a moment's notice over the goblins. It's a miracle it didn't happen already.

He sat down and took a sip of whiskey, swirling it mournfully as he looked out at the vast sand dunes of Arrana. This was his last term. And he feared it would be the most pivotal term in the country's history. "What if a young firebrand takes my place and runs us into the ground? All it takes is one military action to earn the ire of the IU..." His thoughts were interrupted by a hacking cough. When he pulled his hand away, he saw specs of blood. "I don't have much time left do I?"

Sunlight glinted in the dunes and caught motes of dust. Little things, suspended in an amber ray. Their filth looked beautiful in the sunlight.

An aid walked in. "Sir...we've made contact with....gods." The old man sighed. Perhaps this was the death knell.

To be continued...

More than just a Stage
6083e922b5be12cf2bb6402201ca7660.jpg
EYjLceWXsAIe-So.jpgThe Blood Dome had quickly become everything anyone could talk about in recent times. While Solfuris may have initially planned on it serving to distract the Swarms from the shaky duel the High Swarmlord had won, his plan had worked far better than intended. Being able to put the Dome through a proverbial trial by fire thanks to the intervention of their east coast neighbors only seemed to heighten its fame. Soon Solfuris had rounded up a legion of hopeful tourney types to build up the staging cove, fueled by little else than the need for a bigger venue and more supplies for the Blood Dome. Plans for it quickly overshadowed the original goal of taking the Kiln, with the Staging Cove even starting to rival some of the more congested parts of Burkhenyard.

This was not lost on Melikhom, through the window of his workshop as construction efforts took up the majority of the cove. He was mixed on the matter, to say the least. On one hand, his eventual tussle with that peak of fire and brimstone had been put on hold. On the other, the whole reason they were there in the first place was to take the damned thing and that flaky bastard looter couldn't be damned to remember that. The whole reason Melikhom was even stuck there was because of Solfuris, and now he would be stuck there for even longer if they didn't get a move on.

"Schedule completed."

Melikhom was offered no respite from his own venomous thoughts, as the raspy voice of his 'Lab Partner' ripped him right back into the frozen cold grip of reality.

pntlyxbr9dq51.jpgHe looked back to see the Foulbinder looking over a busted up tablet that was held together by tape and glue, it was miniscule in that roid-monster's grasp. Zulmok looked back at him, then stepped closer with the barrel of his chem-cannon lowered towards the floor. Melikhom almost wished he raised it and opened fire, just got it all over with and sent Melikhom to whatever next life awaited. He had clearly pissed off too many spirits in a past life, the increasingly painful turn of events his recent career had become had no other answer.

"What'dya mean schedule?" he asked as Zulmok turned the tablet around to show that had indeed charted a schedule, and that it mostly concerned the organization of a scouting party to take stock of the Kiln.

"Whatcha makin' this for?" he asked before gesturing out the window "With how much that gold-covered candy-ass has got all them folk worked up over his fancy bowl, we ain't gettin' nobody for the Kiln for months at least!"

"Doesn't mean we can't plan for it, friend." the way Zulmok coughed out the word 'friend' had to be considered a form of torture in several countries. Melikhom could almost promise that him uttering that word had unleashed some form of ancient evil out into the world that specifically targeted children for not stopping their parents from letting such an unholy thing come to pass.

Which pretty much meant the possibility of siring any spawn was firmly off the table for Melikhom.

"Let them have their fun," Zulmok continued "they will work with great vigor when they are needed."

"Hey big guy, you's forgettin' that most the folk 'round here's plannin' on doin' Tourneys now." Melikhom crossed his arms and glanced out the window towards the Dome in the distance "That damn thing's gonna be drainin' the workforce around here for years. Might not even be able to get a big enough swarm to actually build the damn Kiln if we take it."

"Which is why we will consider alternative assistance should the need arise." Zulmok approached a map on a nearby workbench and looked it over.

"Ain't gonna let them damn dancers pitch in 'ere." Melikhom took a stand "So what if they can round up some proper killers? If their builders work on the Kiln 'is gonna look like a damn prissy disco ball 'stead of a proper war factory!"

"Well lucky for you I'm not considering New Yong." Zulmok looked back before pointing to the southern part of their continent "Here."

"The Suits?" Melikhom's scowl didn't fade

"The Conglomerate's lust for finance has been well known to their neighbors for quite some time." Zulmok nodded as he stared holes into the map "yet I've had no record of them forming extensive dealings with other nations so far. I say we change that."

"Oh yeah? Really think a buncha dusty suits could whip up a proper fight?" Melikhom asked "Don't matter how useful they are, the Swarms ain't partnerin' with anyone who ain't got some fight in 'em."

"I'm certain the Conglomerate's got all form of mercenaries to protect their interests," Zulmok stated "they know we're here after all."

"And if they don't?"

"Then we do Classic Negotiations and make them aid us." Zulmok turned on him with a grunt of annoyance "I don't care how popular the Blood Dome is, it can't beat a war in terms of entertainment."

The Blood Dome Arena is an amazingly deadly place. But through the crucible come greatness. It is a place where mighty weapons are forged through the individuals that go through its hardships. But one wrong step and they will find themselves impaled on another’s weapons. Can place a unit in the Arena. Roll a d10. On a 1, they die. ON a 10, they are promoted to a Hero unit( If hero limit is maxed out, design a free template and that unit is upgraded to that template for free.) Every turn that the unit either doesn’t kill or upgrade a unit, gets a +1 on the roll(Nat 1s will still cause the unit to die however)

Magistrati Turn 05

Praetor Darkfeather paged through reports from the International Union, as he adjusted his glasses. He was working to do his part to make sure his nation would contribute. The Enclaves were a contribution in their own way, but the Magistrati needed to begin enhancing the benefits of their contributions to those who had embraced their presence. This IU Bank was something in particular they had lobbied for in spearheading due to their unique national status as a wandering city-state bound to the skies.

It did mean though that they would have to commence expansion of the Skyfleet if only to better defend themselves and exert local force projection. Their bigger concerns had to be expanding their covert operations. He was deeply annoyed at the failure of his agents to get deeper into this Empire of Hate. Their aggression against Cyberlink was troublesome and the Magistrati were still seeking to forge bonds with the megacorpation. Necromancy was an allowed and practiced art amongst the Magistrati. Ghosts made excellent spies for the College of Intrigue operatives. What other things Cyberlink did could be questionable, but they weren't the ones invading and stirring war.

In the end, more resources would be needed to improve the Espionage output of Magistrata. A headquarters for their covert operations was called for. A Whispering Tower would be build to improve the coordination of their efforts. It would also allow other Colleges to participate and contribute, preventing the feeling of the College of Intrigue from gaining too much influence in affairs. All of the Colleges would be needed to improve the espionage capabilities if the Magistrati were to hone the reputation upon it outside of their efforts as diplomats.

Colonel Gripus 'Iceheart' Congrio

"TODAY WE HAVE OUR NEWEST TARGET! WE HAVE BEEN CONTRACTED BY THE KINGDOM OF FAFRIUM TO JOIN THEM IN THEIR WAR AGAINST THOSE KNOWN AS AMNONICUS!" Gripus stood atop the command structure, looking down upon the members of the Legion who stood in ranks below him. "TOMORROW, WE BEGIN OUR LONG MARCH TO THEIR BORDERS! TONIGHT! WE FEAST, WE PRAY, WE CELEBRATE! WE DO WHATEVER THE HELL WE WANT, FOR TOMORROW MAY BE OUR LAST!"

The soldiers erupted into cheers and roars of approval, many of them raising their weapons. They had seen little to no real action for far too long, and many of them were craving the excitement and bloodshed of battle. And now? They would be receiving it.

"PREPARE YOUR EQUIPMENT, WE MOVE AT FIRST LIGHT! SQUAD LEADERS, REPORT TO ME FOR ASSIGNMENTS! THE REST OF YOU, GET TO WORK!" Gripus ears rang at the roars of affirmation coming from below, the men and women breaking rank and rushing to their previously given tasks. "Et ut inveniamus cito victoriam."

A small screen flicked off to the right, one of the only sources of light in the dim office, a man was walking across a graveyard discussing the wonders of post-life retirement in the great Soylent Meadows. The color was faded and the words he said were muted, barely able to be heard as the television was old. It was not a holographic projector like what many people of Galvaax had, nor was it even a 'thin' LCD or OLED television that were found for dirt cheap rates in second hand shops that sprinkled the more income starved quarters of the city. This old television had a screen that was, perhaps, five inches across and four inches tall. More akin to an old radio then a true television, the images across the surface almost impossible to see unless a face was pressed right up against it.

An older man with graying hair stood before a dark chair, his hair was thinning but his clothes were fine with jeweled cuff links that almost seemed to sparkle even in the dim office. Another figure sat in the chair across, the shadows of the offices obscuring his upper torso, but the shadow of a bald could be seen in the shadow with two infernal glowing green eyes that gazed at the graying man.

"I thank you for your timely arrival, Mr. Myers," the seated figure said, his voice almost hollow as it seemed to crawl around the room and down Myer's spine.

"I should be thanking you, for the invite," Mr. Myers said with a wide smile, "It is my honor to be sitting here before you, sir."

"An honor?" The seated man repeated, "Is it?"

"Of course, I can only assume you brought me here because you were interested in Soylent Meadows explosive growth in the last two quarters! This business with the, so called, Empire of Hate has done wonders for my business! Perhaps CyberLink Solutions is looking to invest? I'll have you know, if you're thinking about stealing my business plan, I have a crack team of lawyers ready to guard my patent like hawks," Myers said, his voice taking a challenging tone.

"I do not want your business, Mr. Myers," the man said, his blazing green eyes almost seeming to flicker, in amusement? Annoyance? Impossible to say.

"I brought you here because of your other activities with a," the man reached into the side of his chair and pulled out a piece of paper, yes, Mr. Myers had to stop to take stock but that was paper, who even used paper these days, and scanned the cover although it was hard to imagine he was able to read the words printed on it in such a dark room, "Ms. Fishhook, an unfortunate name."

Mr. Myers stood straight, his jaw clenched, "What of it?"

"No where in your advertisements does it explain to your consumers that you reserve the right to use their remains for whatever you desire," the seated figure said, "And I take issue with this."

"I assure you, sir, the contract they sign is very explicit if the sections detailing that are examined and read clearly. My legal team has been very Why? Is CyberLink Solutions interested in the bodies? Because we can come to an arrangement, although I will have to speak with fish, first.." Mr. Myers left the offer hanging in the air.

"I did not call you to make a deal with you, Mr. Myers. I've called you to stop your actions."

Mr. Myers took a step back as his fist balled, "If you plan on bringing me to court, I'll have you know I'm ready to fight and when I win, I'll be the one sitting in this office."

"I do not intend to sue you, Mr. Myers," the man said, his green eyes still blazing, "When you opened Soylent Meadows, you took out considerable loans.. Loans that I now have possession of and I am calling in. Do you have the chit?"

"N-No! Of course I don't, but the deal-"

"The deal was you would be given a reasonable amount of time to pay it back, it has been seven years, this is a reasonable amount of time yet you've paid back none of it. I fear that this does not give me confidence in your ability, Mr. Myers. As you cannot afford to pay your debts, I will be taking your other assets to offset your debt, as this also does not cover your debt, you will work to pay off the rest of your debt over," once more the man pulled up a paper and took care to take note of what it said, "The next four and a half lifetimes."

"You can't do this! I didn't do anything wrong! You're just jealous you-"

The figure sliced his hand through the air, and Mr. Myers turned a deathly pale and began to claw at his throat, his mouth opening and closing as if trying to gasp for air but unable to make a sound.

"Consumer confidence is everything. You failed that. When knowledge of what you're doing gets out, and it will get out because these things always do, it will reflect badly on us all. In this time of trouble, I will not have you bringing disgrace upon this ideal. Farewell, Mr. Myers," a skeletal hand slipped into the light, golden engraves and runes covered each white digit as it slowly curled into a fist and Mr. Myers toppled over.

Myers' eyes started to roll to the back of his skull as white foam bubbled out of his lips, "Do not fret, your fate is far kinder then that of Ms. Fishhook, and please, do not make a mess on the carpet."

Andromeda was back in her home, the blue screen shining on her face was a welcome familiarity. Already she could read line after line of messages from her devoted followers welcoming her home, hoping she was doing well, happy to see her. She knew the state of the nation was still turbulent, at best, that many of those that were sending money to her barely had enough to get food for themselves, many were not even able to return to their homes yet, still quarantined off until they could be fully secure. Even if they did get back, many would find their homes looted and their valuables stolen, it was.. The woman closed her eyes and let out a slow breath as she calmed her nerves before her eyes snapped back open and she gave the camera a warm smile, "Hi, stars, I'm home~"

BoN Act 3: Modern Age

War is coming. It has been boiling near over the surface for far too long and it is threatening to burst and explode into an even larger conflict among all the nearby nations. Fafrium seems to be beating the drums of war, but instead of against their age old enemy, Greater Titania, it seems to be focused on a younger nation, barely formed, but strange and unique, Amonicus.

It seems as though this could get nasty, fast and lead to much bloodshed and fallout in the political arena afterwards.

Turn 5, Month 6, Fall, Year 2300

The Sunset Kingdom

The new city is finalized through great effort and now stands as another shining example of the brilliant strength of The Sunset Kingdom. Their expansion of new cities will surely earn them international spotlight for providing new jobs and opportunities for their citizens. As well it should be.

Alba is quickly becoming a hub for naval forces, something that the citizens of Alba are taking great pride in. Parades are often held now when a new boat is constructed and often it is the talk of the town when a new designed craft will grace their shipyards, providing many new work opportunities and helping the city grow as a result.

The people swell with nationalistic pride at these developments and even talk is filled of their new vassals, the strange machine/people hybrids across the sea. Their ways are weird and their appearance even more strange, but something about them has caught the attention of the people.

Suddenly several notable comic book authors began to craft tales about their exploits…..

More Construction in the home ship was always a good thing. It was all buildings that would make their lives easier. A Manufacturing Bay and a Tuning Lab. It would be a brilliant turn of events from these scientists and engineers as well as a way to better themselves and further adapt to their new environment.

Even after these six months in this new world, it was still difficult for them to adapt fully. Though some members have taken it upon themselves to follow the new Aqua way. Fully adapting to these native waters and becoming one with the waters of this planet. Those who followed this path seemed to be growing every day.

Alliances with those from within the sea seem to be coming easily to the Followers. But now as they began to branch out towards those on land, their values would be tested.

Manufacturing Bay: Truly a work of automated precision, this bay may create +1 vehicle per recruit vehicle action.
Tuning Lab: The path to perfection is never done, at least, not for the elf named Heitris. Any vehicle constructed in this settlement may have one additional keyword. This keyword must be the same for every unit of the same template.

Heart of the Machine: In anticipation of their full embracement of the sea, there are some followers who fear that they will be wholly unable to act should the need arise to strike out against those on land. The research division has presented a solution: Drones! Vehicles constructed by the Followers retain their amphibious keyword, but are unable to operate more than 4 hexes away from their cities (or allied cities). A unit with the Drone Controller keyword may count as a settlement for this purpose. In addition, vehicles constructed by the Followers of Hel'copin are now immune to any effects that target a creature's mind or emotions.

The Scouts dropping off the packages somehow managed to suffer from Logistical Error- No gain, but the stack gets -1/-1 until the end of the next turn

There are clearly many enemies for the nation made up of living artwork. They are viewed as strange by those around them. And even when some court their favor, how much of this is fact? ANd how much is merely to placate them for an inevitable strike?

That is why there has been much more development in creating new types of creatures and members of the fighting force of Amonicus to fight back against these incursions, both real and imagined.

Rexsi Dyraonic: A winged Rexsi armored and shrouded in eternal purple and shadow. These flyers use a combination of melee and advanced dimensional weaponry to eliminate air vessels with extreme malice. This causes them to burn more fuel than normal.
  1. Keywords: Flying (10), Fighter (5), Anti-Air (0), Fuel Guzzler (-25), Konomi (0) (Air Range: 4) Total Cost: 20+10+5+0-25 = 10 Resources.

Pearl of the Rainbow Sea: A ball of swirling energy that floats along the water, causing energy to enter and cause problems for enemy vessels. There abilities to dispense energy also allow refueling and connection to the dimensional streams of settlements.
  1. Keywords: Carrier (10), Advanced Weaponry (5), Long Range (10), Hulking (-10), Konomi (0) Total Cost: 20 + 10 + 5 + 10 - 10 = 35 Resources

Energized Polygon: A Polygon without the limiters and oversight as their previous iteration. The prism had been quite useful, and it allowed for such limiters to be obsolete. A cloud of dust swirls around the Polygon, giving it increased fire rate.

Many public works were being constructed for the betterment of the nation. It was not that hard to believe that the nation would be all the more improved from these actions. The revitalization of the mobile force of the army, its vehicles was of much needed update to keep in line with other modern nations. They couldn’t afford to end up declining or even just staying stagnant.

They would bring their country into modernization in the proper way, the way of the Dominion of Ossiriand and no other way. They would not be beaten or dragged into another nation’s way of thought. They were their own people with their own sensibilities.

The Garage allows 5 Vehicles to not have to pay upkeep within the city. It helps improve the military drive force on the battlefield.

The Royal Bank HQ will be able to generate much funds as soon as it is stocked with appropriate BANKERS

Nationalizing the Gassom Group was a huge boon for the nation and will certainly help generate much needed funds for the bank once it is properly filled with FINANCIERS.

A Quartermaster’s chamber was constructed which would help decrease the upkeep of troop type units for improved care of small arms and armor among the people.

The Barracks that was constructed was a good way to help them recruit more troops to go with the Quartermaster’s chambers. IN this manner, they will be able to train an additional troop for every troop training action that is taken. It will still require training costs however, but it saves recruitment time.

The people seem to be all abuzz about what is going on in other nations. It is almost like it's a different place after being isolated for so long. News traveling from the grape vines of the International Union seems to spur something truly within the isolated people.

Some are beginning to make plans to travel the world, or at least to those nations that are part of the Union.

Army 3 uncovers another Bountiful Loot- 20 Resources and free upkeep for the stack this turn. It was another ancient supply drop. Apparently the forest is full of them from times gone by.

The Capital is improved as now they finally have the support of The World Tree once more, away from their exile of these lands. Soon enough, their home would rival any of the Grand Cities of the World Tree as they raise their protective force to protect with extreme prejudice.

It was only a matter of time until The World Tree would once more see their worth, which was much more than they were being credit for. Their vast stores of genetics engineering will be the way forward for their people in the protection of said people. It was the way and they would have to see it.

(Critical Fail- Lose 1 Unit) As Army 1 was moving forward in the wilderness, a sinkhole opened up, sucking in the Genesis Pattern Infantry. They were unable to be saved from their fate.

Another Party Bus and another Goblin Rock Band have been recruited to the cause, the ULTIMATE cause. Soon enough, their WORLD TOUR would commence for not just the good of New Yong, but for the Good of All The World.

They knew that it was only a matter of time until THE SONG arrived and began to sow discord among the world. This was now their time to put a stop to it. NOw was the time that they had to fully prepare the world.

As such, they developed a new policy, Ballad of The Black Dragon: New Yong and it's allies receive 0/+2 against the SONG. When fighting the SONG, allied units must roll a d10 for every unit in the battle. On a 8+, units are incapacitated for the round

It was an intelligent method to combating their greatest enemy, the enemy of all free thought and expression.

The Great White City would now glow stronger and brighter than ever before as it expands to further grow its might to the world. Soon enough, all would know of HATE and the POWER that it brings.

It is a unifying force in this or any world. And they would show everyone how STRONG it can be. They would soon have enough of an army to spread the HATE among all assembled, not just those that are closest to their nation.

The Espionage worked perfectly, they spread false lies among the people of Gaalvax.

Raid on Gaalvax was a small success and they stole 27 Resources

An act of Espionage was carried out against this nation and it was only discovered once 27 Resources had been stolen. This fact had caused issues in the streets in conjunction. -1 Order

Construction continues on the capital as things begin to change in the world. The Empire of Hate continues to harass the CLS with raids and public smear campaigns. It is clearly only a matter of time until they once again attack.

And then there is the issue to the South East. CSRA spies have alerted that there is a brewing conflict about to erupt between Fafrium and Amonicus. It threatens to be a major scale war that could and most likely would draw in their neighbors into the conflict.

Something could be done about the situation, but it could also be an opportunity to watch what others are capable of.

Staging Cove is improved for all those that are coming to live at the newest and most important location within their nation. IN such a fluke, a place that was to merely be a Staging Ground for bigger and better things, actually became itself a bigger and better place than the Capital and birthplace of their people.

It was only a matter of time before such a place supercedes the Capital entirely.

The nation was isolated from most other nations. They were a place that was hidden away from the world and many among them liked that. But some among them wished that they were a bigger part of the world community, that they had remained hidden in the shadows for far too long and that the world could pass them by if they stay this way.

(Critical Fail) Another disaster strikes as a violent whirlwind travels through a district, leaving an entire unit of fighters dead.

In response, the nation constructed a barracks and then trained more troops within it to keep up with demand.

Having a barracks allows an additional unit to be trained with every training action.

Xenophalon finishes its upgrades to increase in size and ability. It now allows their home to be a greater shining example to all the others that exist within the International Union.

The people are gearing up for conflicts in the near future. National Intelligence have come to the conclusion that The Fafrium Empire and Amonicus will be coming to blows shortly over an attempt of extortion of Fafrium citizens by Amonicus. It seems that the nation has its own pride at stake.

A training barracks was created to allows another unit to be trained on the same action as another training, allowing greater mobility of their armed forces.

But the biggest boon was the construction of the Strategic Development Center which allows the creation of a template without an action once per turn as long as you pay half the template cost upfront

The Construction of the International Union Bank was a great boon for the nations of the Union. It would further bring all of these nations together and for a common good to help people. All members of the IU will gain a +1 Order for the FIRST TIME ONLY that they place resources inside the bank.

The Whispering Tower is a wonderful improvement for Espionage actions. It allows them to have a +2 to all such actions without having been previously embedded within the enemy nation.

Espionage against the EoH was a rousing success as they manage to steal 27 Resources from the nation.

The Magistrati were being a force for good within the world. Already they have extended this arm of peace to many nations, most of which have now formed into the International Union. It is only a matter of time until they have succeeded in uniting many more such actions.

Odd rumors have begun to spring up of people starting to go missing from coastal villages. It may be nothing, or it may be everything. Only time will tell.

Geyos, the tide locked dimension with mountains above and a "city" below.
1675822796871.png

The souls of the natives of the previous iteration. While seemingly normal and simply ghosts, these apparitions will take on their true form om the command of the Ol'sie that made them.

The Helios Empyrean Seal.

The Husks of Geyos natives, called Kainsyi by the Konomi. The reanimated bile of victims of the feasting of an Ol'sie.
The Shadows of Geyos

Two ascending mountain peaks loom, snarling with black, silky mist that covers the bases of each mountain. A bed of clouds hanged just above them. Not of water vapor, but of a mysterious dust like pancake mix that seemed to form into golf ball sized masses before eventually dissipating again for unknown reasons. Standing along a rope bridge leading nowhere but itself; Amno, Shachar, and Eitanou watched the city below. Above them in a rainbow edged portal, additional sensors and konominel (like personnel) observed and recorded interactions and data. From Geyos, nothing could be detected. A blinding and toxic field of Helios Empyrean covered the opening of the portal above. A 'synthetic' substitute imitating real Empyrean that cannot be materialized within the material plane (our world). Its mostly white and does not form into other colors of the visible spectrum often. When it does, it is often a ruby red and a blue violet mixture as shown above. This portal seal is the only practical use it has as of yet, though, it may not stay that way. Shachar looked up and floated up a small gem as Jio plates unfolded from his sleeves. Shachar's hand began to form multitudes of mirror images across the horizon and he began to write onto the plates.

Amno patiently waited as Shachar wrote. Shachar oblivious to the situation continues to write away as Amno walked along the rope bridge. Not much could be seen over the pancake mist besides the lights, and some taller buildings. The city itself ebbed and flowed from skyscrapers to mainstreet America with clear cuts and unnatural transitions. Even with the obscuring conditions, that could be surmised clearly. Then, as Shachar finished his writings, he turned towards Amno and Eitanou. He paused, tucked the Jio plates away, and opened up Xata image of the nearby cityscape of Geyos.

"My Hierarch, the preparations reach the peaks of completion. Shall New Creation enter the reaches of the shadow?" Shachar highlighted a large square of the city that centered on a shattered statue. A clearing with a corner blocked off by a hole within the dimension. One shown with a maroon sheen, a solidified hole.

"It is decided in favor. Descend."

Shachar held his hand up, a sudden snap of the mirrored hands', and a crystal lotus entered Geyos from Dexrus. He pinches one petal and a dome of bright light surrounds the trio briefly. In a flash, Shachar, Amno, and Eitanou walked along the cobblestone streets. Multiple security konominel entered along with various workers and mimics installing dimensional anchors and wall projectors. As they worked in the background, Amno approached Shachar.

"How many samples will you need?" Amno calmly spoke as he unfolded his wings. The misty air barely moves as he unfolds them.

Shachar checks his notes, "Sixteen. That is all that I need."

"Kisjeing value stabilized?"

"In the present of the moment, it is affirmative. .4 to .3. Minimal levels." Shachar guided some workers as they phased in a large pillar. "Preparations almost complete. Sound initiator and amplifier ready for grouping purposes. Collection systems enabled and allocated properly through the Helios Empyrean seal."

"Good. Begin once ready."

The Konomi intrusion on Geyos shook the stale air of the lower city. Various spirits and apparitions began to meander over to the commotion. Many attempting to appear as they were in life. Most failed miserably as they remained only as fed on husks of themselves. Shambling, biting, and oozing their forms to move. These spirits were not well. Spirits, if they could even be called that, of the natives. All that remained once the Ol'sie claimed from their souls. These husks represent the 'bile' that they leave out and animate to command. At first sight, they seem innocent. But under observation, coordination and corruption spill from their behaviors.

[Battle Theme]

A mere handful approached now, but every native of the plane of Geyos was feasted upon. The amount of husks, or Kainsyi, likely dwarfed the current population of Eldwaldeon. The risk to the grounded ones should the Kainsyi escape would be tremendous. Thus, endless safeguards to prevent that end. Tensions rise as the Kainsyi approach and sniff the intruders. In mere moments, a shrill, omnipresent, yet quiet [screech] echoed throughout Geyos. The sky suffered in crimson as the mist faded. The crescent moon filled and revealed itself to be incredibly volcanic. Bubbling lava could be see even from thousands of miles away. The Kainsyi transform into blood soaked wraiths, writhing and twitching wildly as their weapons in life. Gunfire, sword shimmers, and rocks flying across the air; they met the barricaded positions of the Konomi where their fire bounced off the attuned walls. A rift opened underneath them and from behind the Konomi. The approaching Kainsyi fell through the rift, across the Konomi fortification, and collided with their allies. Bright lights of all colors rang from the fortification as tears in space ripped Kainsyi in half. Floods of Xata and Zata dust rip explosions across the no-man's-land causing tears in Geyos to form and suck Kainsyi to their ripping ends.

For multiple minutes this occurs with various pieces of the Kainsyi being collected. Eventually the various different samples are collected. The Konomi use a preconstructed device to pull the Konomi and their equipment from Geyos. All with a smile on Shachar's prism.

The Laboratory at the End of Creation: At the End of Creation, isolation testing and development of new technologies can be done without contamination from Old Creation and the many dimensions. If the Konomi were to survive, they would need to keep the pace of technological development they have been experiencing. A portal to the end with specialized dimensional anchors to equipment to be used as normal with vat tubes of the End to test designs and mixtures. Unlocks the ability to perform research. Pay resources at checkpoints called project. Once full cost is paid. Project is complete.

Ability: Generates 1 resource on its own.
    --
    Manned by 3 Mimic Objects

    ----

Fruitful Flower: A large lotus like structure where multitudes of dimensions converge. Matter and energies from across creation are brought here to forge and create equipment for the Konomi's needs. A structure that crafts new items on a 10 on a 1d10. Items may not be used until the next turn.

Ability: May spend 60 or more resources to guarantee an item is made.

The Ragnar Republic
A New Dawn
Turn 5
Personal Log #247
One word brought the culmination of the hurried project to fruition, the hard graft and deep resource sink of the aim to reach space…"Ignition."

From a distance, families watched while others sat at home or stood in the streets watching televisions of the world spectacle. For those with the event in their direct eye line, the roaring flame of the engine was monstrously loud. The volume and power was enough to cause a twitch in any on-looker's chest. As the whole population looked on with pride and fear, the rocket began to lift upwards towards the heavens above. A trail of flame grew from the base of the spacecraft as it elevated higher and higher, picking up great speed with each passing second. Cheers began to erupt all around the nation of the Forgotten as a separate video feed appeared next to that of the rocket's ascent. The feed showed two men sitting in the rocket's cockpit, their stoic calmness an inspiration to all.

Minutes passed before confirmation finally came through that the rocket had finally reached the outer atmosphere and what was defined as space. The people celebrated wildly, forgetting recent concerns and worries, mutant and human alike embraced with joy. The celebrations continued for the hours the men floated in orbit above the world, the pair looking down at the mystical blue ball below. Fortunately for them the most dangerous part of the mission would go off without incident.

The re-entry and landing had always been of concern to all those involved in the project but they couldn't have hoped for a better outcome. All systems worked as expected and the rocket returned to its launch pad with no deviation. As it touched down it was clear that the Forgotten had won the space race…albeit as the lone entrant in that race.

It took a while for the gantry to attach to the rocket to allow the astronauts to emerge but they did so to cheers that could be heard from miles away. As they were led away for medical examinations Autarch Victor Ulbricht appeared outside ground control for a press conference. Cameras flashed and reporters chatted excitedly as the Autarch took center stage, applauding for him spreading like wildfire. He raised his hands with a smile, his eyes slightly reddened from tears of joy and relief at the success of the mission and safe return of the astronauts. As silence spread he struggled to hold back his emotions for a moment, the happiness threatening to break his usually firm exterior.

"To my people and the people of the world watching what we have just achieved, this is what humanity can accomplish with focus and determination. We needn't bow to the whims of war over resources, our achievement has unlocked the vastness of space and its plentiful bounty for the betterment of all. We set this goal for our people and the people of the world and that goal has not changed. This step forward will allow us to provide a brighter future and to protect that future for our children."

The Autarch paused for a moment as he looked at the sky above.

"That is what I want most of all, a prosperous and protected future for our children. We have a duty to ensure our descendents have the brightest opportunities open to them and what better opportunity is there than the expanse of space?"

He returned his glance to the reporter's and their cameras.

"This day, we have achieved a feat of great engineering that will not be forgotten…and to that end I declare that from this point forward, our people shall reclaim their former name…we shall no longer be The Forgotten of Ulbricht, we have reclaimed our historical standing and proven ourselves worthy to return to our former glory as the Ragnar Republic."

Cheers once again spread throughout Koenig as The Autarch continued on. Elsewhere however, deep in the bunker beneath Koenig, Grand Marshal Heinrich Vetter sat before a holographic projection of the world, zooming in on a small dot located in orbit. He turned to Chancellor Bernard Hacker and smiled.

"The deployment was a success, we can begin the construction of the Hydra…"

World Tree
1675447475935.png

Warden Gihu'nan wasted no time preparing what would be the new settlement dedicated to her people. It had taken a great deal of convincing, but the Wardens were able to sway the King into permitting each faction to claim a settlement of their own where they may practice their different ways of life without impeding on one another. Lady Gijhu'nan was given priority for the idea being hers and her willingness to be on the exterior. In truth she did not mind the positioning, she had big plans for Talsyn and that included militarization. Command of the World Tree's millitary may have fallen to General Telmen and the Legion, but she would not leave her people or the World Tree in the hands of exiles. She first worked with her people to construct a Guild Master's Quarters. It was a marvelous building that stood out against the landscape and even the cityscape. A sign of her commitment to the Wood Elve's military might. The Quarter Master was an elven woman who, a thousand years ago, had been a lover of Gihu'nan and had a brilliant mind which made her perfect for the role.

1675447463445.png

Gihu'nan had spent decades, centuries even, fighting the mortal races of the world and sometimes hunting them for sport. Of course those days were behind here now, unfortunately, but she had learnt back then the importance of a barracks. A place to train and house soldiers went a long way in forming a proper and formidable force, so she had one built as well. It integrated nature in the most beautiful way as the rivers flowed into the building and back out of it. This supplied the structure with power while also minimizing their disturbance of the surrounding ecosystem. She would be overseeing the barracks and the training herself most days, but she appointed another ex-lover of hers to act as her second in command on days when Warden business would take her away.

1675447444123.png

Talk of the mortal races seemed to be a popular topic of conversation within the capital these past few days and while some seemed eager to return to the outside world and interact with the other species, there were some who were against the idea and King Ellario was among them. In his throne room he met with the Wardens, each a representative of their people with a different opinion towards the mortal races.

"We should send our people back out into the world, your Grace. We should be building relations with the mortal races and creating a plan to combat the demons." Aurum, Warden of the Sun Elves was a big supporter of the mortal and understandably so. When the Sun Elves left the old homeland they built an open society that traded and grew with the help of the mortal races. It was likely they would not have flourished the way they did without the mortals.

"The mortal races do not even believe in the demons anymore, your Majesty. They think they are myths, stories told to the young to keep them in line. Gaining their aid would require great efforts to convince them of what we know to be true. Then we would have to hope they are actually willing to cooperate with us." Faran was Warden of the Moon Elves and only so because the true candidate had other desires. So she received some looks of disapproval from some of the other wardens when she spoke.

"I say we leave the mortal races alone." Gihu'nan declared. "We have enough contact with them as is for the sake of the International Union, but so far even that has bore no fruit." The Wood Elf Warden looked to Aurum with her arms folded across her chest. "And the Empire of Hate is still a problem. We do not want our people going out there and becoming victims of hypnosis."

"I agree with Lady Gihu'nan. The risks are too high at the moment, even the neighbors we know may be compromised and not know it yet. Have any of them taking precautions like we have against the mind control?" Oreon shrugged his shoulders when he finished speaking, but his stance on the situation was clear.

Then came Warden Tial. "The Sea Elves are eager to return to the oceans." He started. "We've been hiding inland for centuries now and I think if we're going to be talking to the mortals it should be during raids and bombardments." His declaration warranted several confused faces from his peers and sigh of disbelief from the King. Tial wanted to return to the ocean purely so that he might plunder the mortal races for all they're worth, but even Gihu'nan who was a staunch advocate for hunting them down, did not agree.

"I must tell you all something that I have only told Telmen and Gihu'nan." Ellario spoke up finally. "The demons have returned reportedly. Another nation has said to me that they encountered them, so it is safe to assume the great enemy is preparing to return in full force." The faces of the Wardens darkened, sinking as they all relived the horrible memories of the last demon invasion. "Our armies must stay here to secure the continent and to secure the World Tree. No force shall leave this forest with the intentions to do otherwise." He needed to let Tial know that his dreams of a naval war would not happen anytime soon, but that also went for Gihu'nan and Telmen as well. They were both militarist and he knew deep down they wanted to fight.

LOG# A006

LOG OF: WHELAN, ANNABELLE
POSITION: SECONDARY DIPLOMAT ABOARD THE S.S. DAVISII
DATE: 157 DAYS SINCE THE SINKING OF THE S.S. DAVISII

LOG START...

Turn 6 cover.png

The meeting had started off benign enough; with Whelan’s arrival back aboard the Davisii only two chairs had been left empty at the meeting circle, but with Elza calling in from the Bessonowii, each member of the inner circle was present and accounted for. Venir had called the meeting to order, per usual, and the typical list of noteworthy events was read off by Anders. A quick vote was taken and the main event since the week prior, a sudden surge of move requests given the announcement of the new ship, was elected to be run by a small team headed under Anders for the next month, until the requests returned to normal levels. Heitris, who had been notably working on other things over the course of the meeting, looked up for all of three minutes to give an update on the timetable for the launch of the S.S. Ferrieri, then returned his attention back to whichever special project had caught his attention for the day.

For the next half hour each lead representative of the Followers took a turn giving updates on their projects and fields that demanded their attention. Until it had circled around to Anders, who placed a glowing orb on the table, and announced he bought it for a large fortune. To say all chaos broke loose would be an understatement, as, historically, few things have managed to rip Heitris away from his work as hearing his budget was spent on a small bauble. Aggravated questions were met with lackadaisical answers, which quickly devolved into shouting from every direction. After ten minutes, Venir, who had wedged himself between Anders and Heitris, walked Anders out of the chamber through the back door leading further into the Davisii. In the following minutes, much of the ongoing arguments eventually fizzled out, with everyone parting ways, everyone, of course, except for Whelan, who had yet to rise from her seat, and Heitris, who was pacing along the walls of the room, occasionally pausing to glare out one of the grand glass windows and mutter something spiteful under his breath. Which brings them both to this present moment.

After a few minutes of quietly fuming, the elven man wheels around from glaring out the window to look at Whelan, and speaks to her directly for the first time in three months, “Anders is a fucking moron who’s going to get all of us killed in his stupidity one of these days.”

Without so much as missing a beat, Whelan calmly responds, “I’d be impressed if he managed to get us all at once,” and goes to open her P.D.A. to check for updates on the situation. “It’s nice to see you again in the flesh, by the way, Folmar,” her tone isn’t unkind, but it still carries the coldness that has dominated their friendship since her first trip to Agua. He scowls and turns back to the window by way of a response. Whelan’s fairly certain that any fish swimming around this end cap of the wing will be turning tail at one glance at the look on his face, but instead of poking fun at him over the thought, she remains silent and glances through her recently received messages.

“Venir wants to try today’s meeting again, tomorrow. Same time. Less orb,” she spares a glance back over to Heitris again just in time to catch him give a huff of annoyance and to watch as his boots break their link with the metal ground, setting him to drift upwards ever so slightly in the water filled room. In that moment it shocks her how terribly small he is, set against the massive windows with the giant plants and rock formations outside. It feels wrong, somehow. “Don’t check your timers, but it’s been, what? Five months now? Starting on six? And you hadn’t even come to see me when we arrived back safe and sound.”

That manages to fully grab his attention, and his head snaps to glare at her, “I wasn’t made aware a welcoming party was mandatory for the return of fools.” And just like that, the illusion is broken as he moves to leave through the same doorway Venir and Anders fled through a scant ten minutes prior.

Whelan frowns and moves to stand, “I didn’t know you let fools use your equipment now. Unless five months have really changed you that much, of course.”

There is a fury in his eyes when Heitris stops and turns back to Whelan, “I’m not the one that changed.”

It’s Whelan’s turn to glare back, “It was our best step forward since arriving, how was I supposed to let an opportunity like that slip away from us?”

Heitris scoffs, his voice steadily rising in volume and pitch, already ragged from the shouting match earlier, “Best step forward? We don’t even know what direction forward is right now! Hel’copin is gone! We can’t even say we’re back where we started, we’re worse than we started, because now they give us commands and we have no idea what they mean or want!”

Whelan’s voice is cold and steady, the picture of calm against the technician’s growing frenzy, “We know where we were meant to go, the best we can do is assume we’re still meant to be on that path. This transformation lets us follow that path far better than our previous solution.”

Something snaps behind his eyes, and his voice becomes harsh and hushed, closing the distance to scowl in her face, “You had no way of knowing that though. I dare to say you didn’t even have a hunch, you just hoped. What would have happened if it didn’t work? If it killed you? We would be facing no small amount of animosity between Agua and the Bessonowi, to say nothing of the long term consequences.”

“I had someone in place to step up should I have died, and you all knew what was happening back here.” Not for the first time, Whelan reels in the urge to slap him. It would be so easy, and might just knock some sense into that crowded skull of his. She’s pretty sure his nerves are still ruined on most of his face though, so it’d only be a gesture that’d leave her hand colliding with jagged metal and burnt skin. An unpleasant combination to say the least.

“Do you really think you’re that replaceable?” He leans back slightly, scowl still cemented on his face, “Just, oops, and someone jumps up to take your spot, same as before, same as it’s always been? And being able to see something doesn’t make it any better, for all I know you’ve slashed your life expectancy in half, or are going to keel over in two months time.”

“Is that what this is about? You running your researchers ragged trying to find some tiny flaw? Not speaking to me for months? And you’re just afraid you’ll be left running these ships by your lonesome?” Anger finally manages to creep into her voice. Of course there was the risk of such a side effect, but it was quickly ruled out in the first round of tests. This isn’t how Heitris acts when he’s just worried about something; this is how he acts when someone destroys one of his projects.

“Go ahead and make rash decisions with your short lives, see if I care if you decide to join Unit #1 in leaping over the volcano as a pass time. Don’t expect to see me as a mourner at your service,” with that he twists in the water and storms out as quickly as he can propel himself, the automatic door sliding shut far too gently behind him.

Whelan resists the urge to get the final word in, and collapses back into her seat, tapping the top of the table irritably. Distantly she makes a mental note to look into anything Heitris might have put into long storage recently, or any plans he had on file that got scrapped. She managed to strike a nerve after all, but still. This was weirdly charged, even from him. She pulls her P.D.A. up once again and sees the message from Venir still open, and decides to send a direct message to him; the old orc has a tendency to improve everyone’s moods, after all.

[Anders is still the biggest moron at this table, Heitris included. Demons don’t even exist in this world.]

She presses send, and then shuts down the device as she rises to go meet back up with Em, ending the log in the process.

Research Lab:
Organized by the research division, headed under Heitris, this building helps expedite the development and testing process of new technologies. Once per turn, as a free action, a new template may be constructed at the cost of half the resources needed to construct one unit.
Vehicle Bay: This bay may hold 5 vehicles constructed by the Followers of Hel'Copin. By attuning the machinery to care for only similar types of vehicles, upkeep is negated while these types of vehicles are docked in the settlement.
1/2
Trading Port:
Allows for trade routes to form and trade to take place with other nations.

Meat for the Beast: Hel’copin manifests themself in ways that are strange, and still unknown even to the cult that worships them. The Followers of Hel’copin may sacrifice resources to the eldritch beast in exchange for their protection. (When activated roll a 1d10, on a 1 or 2 the effect acts in the reverse as a debuff.)

Every turn the Followers of Hel’Copin must spend Resources every turn as a sacrifice to their shark-like god. At the cost of these resources they may ask Hel'copin to manifest the following effects:

(10) Resources, Aura of Faith: Around the settlement the sacrifice took place in, this settlement rebuffs any non-followers from entering, but a group may still force their way past the aura. (Settlement becomes immune to espionage for 3 turns.)

(20) Resources, Impassable Fog: select a sea tile. It becomes shrouded in a dense, almost palpable fog that seems to restrict one’s movement. It costs double movement to move through the affected tile. This can be manifested on multiple tiles per time used.

(30) Resources, Sea Brought Blight: Even the creatures of the sea are not safe from Hel’copin’s wrath, one hex within x hexes of the settlement the sacrifice took place in is afflicted with a surge of toxic water, hindering its ability to generate resources.

(60) Resources, Wrath of the Sea: One hex within x hexes of the settlement the sacrifice took place in is afflicted with terrible storms. All units within that hex are attacked by Hel’copin. Additionally, this power may reach a land hex that is one to two hexes inland, as Hel’copin sends a tsunami to batter those places.

(80) Resources, March From the Sea: Hel’copin causes the water to raise and rock to crumble, as one hex on the coast becomes converted to ocean. This cannot effect a hex with a settlement on it, but it can effect hexes with units on them.

Proposed keyword: Drone Controller [5]

Dagwyr hopped off the wagon, giving the driver a quick wave goodbye before heading through the complex that had grown around KADISH. The construction and development of the new sun had been completed weeks ago, ahead of schedule - but the infrastructure to keep it from tearing itself apart was minimal at best. As he dodged the workers shifting carts full of beams, struts and an unsurprisingly large amount of esoterica towards the supply tunnels, he heard a snicker from - somewhere - and suddenly a bright light was shining on him.

Dagwyr froze, as the familiarity of the light took ahold of him. Diving across the patch of light, he rolled to his feet again and tried to figure out what just happened.

The beam of light shown down from a lens attached to one of the crumbling edifices of the ancient city they were building on the bones of. The lens was slowly turning back towards him as he watched, the patch of light it was redirecting inching closer to his new vantage. Dagwyr quickly walked away, following what seemed to be an endless arrays of lenses fitted to the sides of buildings old and new, his path drawing him ever closer to the center of the compound.

Putting the pieces together, Dagwyr braced himself for what he was about to see. Rounding the corner, he was met with a sight that dispelled any illusion that KADISH was stockpiling resources like some of the old hats have been saying.

A terraced pyramid has been rebuilt over the new Core, and expanded to be far bigger than it had began. A strange gantry had been set up over it, supporting an eclectic collection of mirrors, lenses and crystals, each focusing and reflecting its own beam coming out of holes and shafts set into the structure. Between all this, the Blossom coiled over the hulking building, its inky stem weaving between and sometimes directly over the light that must be KADISH, where several of its petals glimmer with the deep sapphire that seemed to be the calling card of those who stay too long in its baleful light.

Dagwyr was disgusted. This was... wrong. KADISH was lighting up the dark directly, shining down on the workers that are keeping it afloat. And yet, nothing was happening to them, save for a few acquiring a bluish sheen in the light of the Second Star.

Marching towards the pyramid, he decided the first thing he needed to do was find Julius in this mess. Whether he was going to hit him or not was a question that could be answered later.

Dagwyr tried to shake some feeling back into his hand as Julius stood before him, unflinching. "HA! So you feel it too, then?!" Julius said with a grin.

"What?" Dagwyr asked, playing back that last few moments in his head. He wasn't really expecting to punch him immediately. That was a silly thing for him to do, especially since Julius apparently didn't even feel the blow.

"The energy. The POWER. The light is full of it, ready to be released at the tip of a hat or the push of a button, HAHA. It makes everything so, so CERTAIN." The light of KADDISH was even here, reflected and diffused throughout the halls and tunnels of the bunker built over it, and into the eyes of Julius.

"Uh, what? This is awful. You're dumping fire into everyone's skulls, whether they're ready for it or not! This whole thing is a terrible idea, Julius, and exactly what I figured would come of this. You're insane."

"What is a fire if it does not burn you? What is the LIGHT if it casts no shadow?! You know not of what you speak. KADDISH is real, and suffers no doubts. The people here do not suffer under the pretense that they must not know what lies ahead of them. Through the LIGHT OF KADDISH, I know what must be done. How are you so naïve as to not see your path forward?! People call you a hero, HA," Julius says, his voice becoming somewhat more human after this spiel, "but you are as insubstantial as the light you hide from."

Dagwyr was shocked. There was no way this creature was still Julius. He had always been a little high strung, but was never like this. "Wh-what? Where is all this coming from?"

"You tell me, Sunblessed. A man-made deity that rewrites reality with a thought has asked you to spread this gift to the world, and you SIT ON YOUR HANDS?! KADDISH is the call that went unanswered, the prayer of a lonely god, the struggle for CERTAINTY from individuals who will not FOLLOW THROUGH. I am glad you came here today," Julius continues, his tone suddenly shifting to be much more friendly. "Maybe you will have made a decision to act by the time I BURN THE WHITE CITY TO THE GROUND. Even the Midnight Tree has called for their suffering to have ended, and there is no one else here that will see this through. Feel free to tell the Council that I am making good on their promise of a better world." Julius opened the door to his study, which definitely wasn't there before, then stopped, apparently locked in thought.

Dagwyr was reeling. Was all this his fault? Had he driven the Sun in Glass to bring about this monstrosity? It does sound like the sort of thing Julius would just make up in his spare time, he's clearly off his rocker. But maybe the fires of truth actually revealed something to him, this time....

At this point he noticed Julius standing in front of him again. He really was quite tall. "I have come to a decision, and have decided to apologize. I made a mistake earlier."

"It is wrong to trust you to take the first step. CONATUS PASSEL-" was the last thing Dagwyr heard in this life as the clawed sapphire hand of Julius dove into his heart, pulling the Sunseed from his now lifeless body.

Ola's eyes twitched from behind her closed eyelids as she exhaled a slow, shallow breath, wincing in pain from the action. Her chest felt tight and her throat was dry and sore. In an attempt to relief herself, Ola tried to swallow but something seemed to be stuck in her throat. With another painful breath, Ola could feel her body slowly beginning to stir, as her nerves communicated with her brain.

Steadily her body was coming to life, a feeling of warmth encapsulating her stiff frame. With one last agonizing breath, Ola's eyes flickered open to the stagnant light of day.

She groaned softly, her pupils recoiling from the jarring light above.

Trying to shield her eyes with her arm, she found her extremities weak and tired as something pulled against her. With great and excruciating effort, she turned her head to the side. Slowly her eyes began to focus, her blurry vision becoming one of subtle blue and demure white and as she took a long breath from her button nose, a soothing scent filling her nostrils. It wasn't long before the beauty of the flowery bouquet became truly apparent to Ola.

Her cracked lips tried to form a smile but something seemed to cover her mouth. Looking down she could see the clear plastic and lengthy tube of a ventilator masking her lips. Her addled brain pushed back the momentary panic that welled up inside her, allowing Ola to take stock of her situation as she pushed herself upwards.

Sterile white covered every wall of the ample room, the paint reflecting the glow from the fluorescent light above her bed into a mimicry of warmness. Simple furniture dotted the room amongst various medical equipment, with the flowers on the plain nightstand near her bed and a pair of chairs around a table. Ola couldn't hope to understand the many medical devices around here so instead she focused on the table, her eyes shifting across the range of plush toys and balloons that enveloped it.

Her gaze lingered on the table, as she steeled herself to look at her body. It was obvious to her that she was in the hospital which meant something bad undoubtedly had happened to her but with the medication dulling her senses, Ola couldn't place what. Unsure of what she would see when she looked down at her body, the girl whose dream was to dance could only hesitate. Morbid curiosity fought against wild eyed fear as she stared at the cute faces of the toys in the near distance. Closing her eyes and taking another deep, agonizing breath, Ola forced her eyes downward.

Covered nearly head to toe in white plastic and bandages, only the barest of her extremities were allowed to breath as she lay in her bed. Dangling from one of the only patches of bare skin was a thin tube which Ola followed to the one of the bags hanging above her bed. Out of the three, only one was full, it's contents a murky yellow though traces of red lingered at the bottom of another causing Ola to swallow uncomfortably.

With some trepidation, the Trainee tried to speak despite the tube protruding down her throat. With the blinds down Ola couldn't tell whether it was day or night, the quiet of the hospital corridors giving nothing away either but she was determined to know what was going on.

She had so many questions, and though Ola could only gurgle at first, she would keep trying. Staring at the door she willed herself onwards. With every attempt, she tried to ease her sore throat by swallowing, until finally she let out a croaky rasp.

"
Helloooo...?"

Catching a wisp of white pass her door, Ola quickly called out again.

"Helloooo...?"

The nurse looked backwards, and peeked into the room. Her eyes grew wide as Ola attempted to smile and give a little wave from behind her sterile shroud.

"Doctor! Come quick! She's awake!!!"

The Legion was in more talks with World Tree about the Genesis Project. General Telmen having successfully swayed the King's opinion on the matter moved the project back into the sunlight though not all of it. It was now well known by anyone inside the Legion and the King of the World Tree that the Legion was attempting other avenues to create more genesis troopers. Experiments with homunculi and golems began as the unstable magic of the genesis project was used to try and create a new generation of troops for the Legion. However, some of the underground facilities were still off limits to anyone outside the upper echelons of the Legion. Even so support of the project was obvious as an influx of resources was soon to be received by the military in order to fund the project.

Outside of the bunkers that housed the Genesis Project, the General ordered more construction of more factories and warehouses to fuel the future war effort. Rifles, helmets, bullets, bayonets, boots, and uniforms were beginning to be churned out more and more, but to sharpen the sword that the Legion would be they would need even more. Construction crews were heard at all hours in an effort to make the Legion into a resource powerhouse.

Word reached the Legion of a mishap from the first troops to leave the capitol in years. An inquiry was quick and brutal, rooting out the fools that did not scout efficiently enough to detect the large sinkhole that swallowed an entire force of Genesis troops but the damage was already done. Thousands of lives lost in the accident would be hard to replace. The surviving artillery and officers were recalled to the city.

"We can't let this go on. Its untenable" An Admiral said to the Prime-Minister regarding the current global situation "Liars and inactive idealists are proclaiming themselves the world police" she continued "Meanwhile the Empire of Hate continues to devastate the CLS and, atleast from the way the situation to the west appears to be escalating, a significantly more impactful war is on the Horizon."
"Indeed, you are not mistaken. I am aware. Thank you. Suffice it to say, you are not the first to have such concerns, but if you'll indulge me, I have a solution." The Prime-minister replied as he unrolled a blueprint onto the table in the board room of the admiralty building. This, your designers tell me, is the finest ship this world is currently capable of crafting without ideological dedication or bankruptcy. A City on the water. An entire army in the sea. An airport on the ocean. I have decided we shall dub it the 'Regal' class as it shall be the ship that leads our naval groups. Each one shall have this as the jewel at its heart." The admiralty seemed to like this explanation and plan based on the general sounds and murmurings of affirmation.
"Sir, it seems that, while strong, it perhaps lacks the ability to retaliate?"
"Thats the genius. We protect it, just as we would a city, with its own flotilla of ships but we also fill it with planes and soldiers. The ships can engage, fighting our enemies while the aircraft rain down hell, with the added possibility to drop paratroopers down, all from thousands of miles away. Safe from their weapons and their ships. With this, I am also greenlighting a new infantry battalion, dubbed the 'S.A.S.' who will be the first step to realizing this and let me say the preliminary designs for the planes we plan to fill these ships with are also looking mighty formidable."
"Very good, how-"
"To answer the original question. We will not rely on this gang of cheats to protect international security and trade. We shall do it ourselves. For we are the Sunset Kingdom, fellows, and we will not be pushed around and made to follow pointless frivolity. This age of interventionism shall continue on strong. Your boss, Alice, is, right this moment, being sent to attempt to stop the war with the EoH and their neighbors. This is our age. The sun has set on the old ways of the past."

New Alba's, New Ambitions
Meanwhile, in New Alba, the completion of three new Wave Class ships has resulted in an atmosphere of hope, ambition and celebration throughout the city. Anyone needing work can find it both in the Navy or the Shipyards and the city is steadily growing thanks to the influx of people from its surrounding rural areas. In time its formidable, but very outdated, navy of old will be replaced with a shiny new example to the world. Nowhere is that more clear and definitive then in New Alba. The Nation appears to be rising from strength to strength while the world around them appears to be descending into chaos, wasteful, foolish chaos. Resources will be wasted. But not here. In New Alba, Life. Is. Good.

Empire of Hate
Policies
Compelled to Obey: Enemy units on an 8+ become an allied unit. Banditry on a 9+ when away from the capital.
All You Need Is Hate: All “Native” hate units are now at half upkeep. The nation gains-1 Order every turn while this is active until the original upkeep value is paid.

Strengths
Psychological Warfare: Every battle that is in their favour, the defeated enemy rolls a d10. On an 8+, they lose 1 Order or Happiness.
Fanaticism: 4+ save against negative happiness modifiers.
Lightning Raids: When moving into and initiating battle, all native Hate units gain +1/0 for that turn.

Weaknesses
Isolationist: Unable to initiate Diplomacy with any NPC Nation.
Prolonged Conflicts: During war times, Upkeep is increased by +10 for each unit but if a battle hasn't taken place for 3 turns, then upkeep costs return to initial values.

All the staff members of the new nuclear power plant had gathered near the entrance gates for the plant's grand opening. An elevated stage had been set up upon which stood three figures. There was the familiar face of their President and Monyet Dukun, Hensley Fargus, and two less familiar individuals, a slightly hunchbacked elderly man in a dark cyan coloured suit and a man who looked to be in his forties wearing large spectacles, a dark green jacket, purple bow tie and blue trousers. The older man was the owner of the new plant, Charles Montgomery, and the other was his assistant, Joseph Waylon.

Mr. Montgomery approached the podium and rested both hands upon it. "Welcome new employees of the Arrowshaft Nuclear Plant. I would like to take a moment to thank President Fargus for inviting us to your great nation to build a new nuclear power plant following the unfortunate and rather mysterious meltdown of our last one. I can think of no place I would rather be than surrounded by likeminded individuals like yourselves. As it happens, I too am a great believer in the power of hate. It was not that long ago that my doctors gave me mere weeks to live but I, through the teachings of your Monyet Dukun, discovered the secret to eternal life..."

Mr. Montgomery looked skywards and clenched his fists. "You see, loathing is my lifeblood and rage my royal jelly! The secret to eternal life is... HATE!" The elderly man defiantly clutched at the air with one hand as if he was taking his life back from the gods before resting his hands back on the podium. "But enough about me, let me introduce you to your new manager." He gestured to his right side and an overweight balding man in a white polo shirt, blue jeans and grey loafers hesitantly climbed on to the stage. Mr. Montgomery stepped away from where he was standing and towards the newcomer. "Now... tell them how to run a nuclear power plant." he said, taking the overweight man by the shoulders and pushing him towards the podium.

The bald headed man let out a whimper. "Uh... Da... Um... Uh... Da..." His eyes darted across the room as his brain searched frantically for an answer. "Did I say "um"?"

Mr. Montgomery looked on eagerly while Waylon had a look of complete disapproval. Fargus furrowed his brow in confusion and turned to Waylon. "Who is that man, Mr. Waylon?" he asked, in a hushed tone.

"That's Homer Simpleton, President Fargus." Waylon responded. "One of the egg and spoon operators from the old nuclear plant."

"Simpleton, huh? Good man? Intelligent?"

"Actually, sir, Simpleton is known or suspected to have caused more accidents than other employee."

"What!?!"

The audience had started talking amongst themselves when Simpleton suddenly recalled something from a book his wife had given him about business. He cleared his throat. "In business as in breakfast, "fried eggs have fragile yolks." He looked across the faces of the audience. "Huh? Huh?" he said, raising his palms up and down and head tilted to the right as he desperately looked for some kind of affirmation.

"What is he talking about?" said a moustached man in the audience.

"Fried eggs? I have a physics degree from H.I.T." responded a dark skinned woman.

A man with fair hair leaned forward towards the pair from behind. "Maybe if we cheer, we can start work." The other attendees nodded in agreement and they all cheered while Simpleton just looked on confused but relieved.

Mr. Montgomery looked at the bald man with a big grin on his face while Waylon stood there with his arms crossed in front of him and Fargus just watched on absolutely dumbfounded. "Oh, he's got them eating out of his hand." Mr. Montgomery pointed at Simpleton. "And to think you doubted him, Waylon." he said, shaking his head at his assistant.

Fargus was really hoping he wouldn't end up regretting this.

Quill scratched against parchment, staining it with a rich, black ink in cursive lettering.

Desmos whistled to himself a lone chorus of Order Parade Marches, mixed with the latest hits from New Yong as he composed one of many in a series of letters between himself and the King of Fafrium.

Three polite raps on the door cut his whistling short. He looked up, quill hovering jsut above the parchment, a black bead of ink forming a dangerous droplet on its tip.
"Come in". He sat the quill in it's pot before the droplet could fall.

The door swung open hesitantly, and in shuffled Andros, his secretary, who placed a letter sealed with wax upon his desk. Where the Navarch's seal was a bull, this was sealed wtih the emblage of a lion. He recognized it instantly, for it was the seal of Fia Koneg, the Grand Cordon of the Knights of Lepolia.
He could help the frown that quickly spread across his face.

"Everything alright sir?"

Quickly, his frown was shoved away. "I'll have to let you know." He did his best to smile reassuringly and folded his hands over top the letter.

Andros nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him. The frown returned to the Navarch's face.
The Order and Knights of Lepolia were technically part of the same organization, buyt pften it didn't feel that way. The Knights were the "original" order; a knightly, purely military focused organization that spent its time dealing with piracy and law enforcement. The Order had came about, grown from the Knights as theyb ahd expanded and grown to take on more roles. First as search and rescue, then as a relief organization when a tsunami had hit the Book-Keepers Confederacy, and then as a mediator when the city states threatened to erupt in civil war. As their numbers expanded so ahd their abilities. If they could not only protect, but feed and nuture, well the Knight's had thought that they ought to. This cuased their focus to drift with time, as many joined not to fight upon thye open seas, but to provide aid to those struck by disaster and poverty. It was natural that their focus on military efforts would dwindle, and most had accepted this as what was best.

But not all. Some look at the Order and its hesitancy to fight as cowardance, as inaction, as against all the values they claim to stand for. Why shout from below the walls, begging tyrants to end their oppression? Their words only fell on deaf ears. They could not wait for hearts the change. They must be the blade that excised the corruption. If the Order was the pen, the Knight were the sword.

It was due to these differences that the Knights and the Order had a... rocky relationship. But fortuantely the Knights were anything if not honor bound. Their charter put them under the regulations of The Order, with few exceptions.

Though, Desmos knew well, if they had sent this letter, it was cause they were to invoke one of these exceptions.
