Magistrata - Mage City.jpg
Magistrati Turn 02

Praetor Darkfeather looked out at the horizon and frowned some. The nations of this world were starting to align in clusters that could create a more serious conflict in the coming future. He was wary of the development of two political blocs from the CSRA and from the Order. Sadly the Magistrati would have to pick a side if only from the moral code. The Order had openly offered to embrace their Enclave, allowing the Magistrati to have direct contact with their people. Perhaps the CSRA would too, but the culture there seemed concerning.

It was bad enough the Ulbricht folk had gone and basically declared territorial dominance around their current holdings in a rather aggressive manner. From his reports, he couldn't blame them considering their history and situation. It still could cause issues but the Magistrati were not in a position to interfere. It just put he Colleges on edge with some of the other acts trickling in from news services or data streams. The College of Intrigue was aggressively working to find out more and designate potential targets for covert action.

All he could do for now was hope that Magistrati could continue to build up relations and install more Enclaves to act as a voice of reason in troubling times. For now, that hope was targeted at the northern holdings they were starting to spot. It was a hope that they could scout out that location and see just what was to be made of the locals. He'd already sent orders to the Colleges to commence expansion procedures. Magistrata would need to be able to handle more as it sought to become a nexus of international relations.

These past couple days have been quite eventful! Strange visitors, turning to new allies, and somebody took the two hours Corrina was out of her office to get into her papers and ruin her coordination. Whoever it is is lucky she's been told to play nice here. Ah well. Time to get this moving. First off, this outpost needs some upgrades.

Colonel Gripus 'Iceheart' Congrio

"How did they already mess their logistics up!? They've only been a squad for a month!" Gripus practically spat fire as he raged inside his personal office, allowing the normally icy mask that he wore to fall while he was in private. "Bah, they can work it out themselves, make it a valuable lesson for them."

"You know, you are going to give yourself a heart attack if you keep getting this angry over such basic things," the Colonel's head, and weapon, snapped to the door of his office at the unexpected voice, relaxing only after he saw it was just Hornberger.

"Hurricane, did you need something or are you just coming to try to get me drunk," Gripus stowed his weapon and returned to his desk, straightening up several of the papers that had gotten knocked astray.

"I mostly just came to make sure that you knew my two trainees were actually good enough that they might pass, but then I found you screaming about logistics again so I might just get you some whiskey," the 'doctor' smiled at his friend, hands in his pockets.

"I may actually take you up on that offer for once, just let me finish these two forms. You might want to expect a lot more exhausted soldiers for the next several weeks, they are all getting some extra training after all!" Gripus grinned once more but quickly schooled his face, one more returning to the man that they called 'Iceheart'.

Fluff

Noor lifted the guitar from his case and gave it a lookover. It was covered in faded stickers, cracks, and stains from unknown liquids. He gave it a strum and listened to the reverberations, which sounded in tune enough. Everything was in place for the upcoming Punk Sand Cult show. This would be their most ambitious concert yet since it was in the middle of Peace Movement protests. Protestors and police alike were armed to the teeth, both sides waiting for a reason to start shooting one another.

A loud knock interrupted Noor’s train of thought. He opened the door and saw his good friend Vivian. When she tried running in to greet him, she bumped her head in the doorway. Vivian was a Ratha, so she was much taller and lithe than the average human. Nonetheless, the two hugged.

“Beer?” Vivian asked, holding up a six-pack.

Noor grabbed one and pulled out his switchblade with a click. He stabbed the beer at the base and shotgunned it, tossing the can on the floor afterward.

Vivian looked around the trashed apartment. “You need someone to clean up after you for real. You wrecked this place like 3 three weeks after moving in.”

“Hey, I’m just living the punk lifestyle,” Noor quipped back, wiping the beer from his scraggly beard.

“Don’t you work for that shady biotech company? You know, the one that the government keeps yelling at for cutting deals with Cyberlink Solutions? Doesn’t sound very punk to me.”

“Uh, the government invests in Cyberlink Solutions too. Everything’s fucked. Might as well game the system.”

Vivian rolled her eyes and plopped onto the couch. The duo bantered until the discussion shifted to their usual political anguishes. A few beers later they were ready to walk to the Peace Movement protest and start the show.

It was a pleasant, warm spring outside. Vivian’s flowing robes helped keep the sun off her lithe body. Noor opted for a simple cutoff shirt with his band’s logo- a dancing skeleton holding an outdated pattern assault rifle.

While they were walking, an old man glared at Noor. As soon as he looked, Vivian knew what was about to happen. He stopped and pointed a gnarled finger at Noor. “You’re a disgusting young man. She’s a damn terrorist, and your father is probably ashamed of your relationship.”

Noor didn’t know how to respond. ”Look man, I’m just walking down the street. Leave us alone,” he said after a long pause. The old man shook his head and walked away. Vivan snickered. “Aww, does this mean we’re dating now?”

“Sorry you’d get in the way of the legions of horny goblin girls that I’m gonna win over with my new song,” Noor responded with a smirk. The two laughed and kept on their way.

The duo reached ground zero of the protest after walking an hour. It reeked of sweat and amplified the spring heat to insufferable levels. There was a constant din of talking broken up by the occasional chant one side would hastily construct. On the Zephyrite side were human and dragonborn men sporting military fatigues and carrying well-maintained rifles. On the Peace Movement side were many of the CSRA minorities banding together. There were lizardfolk, dwarves, and most of all Ratha like Vivian. They held their weapons with inexperience in opposition to people who were likely former military.

The rest of the band was waiting for Noor, and they berated him for being late as always. Everyone hopped up on the rickety stage that the Peace Movement built. Noor plugged his guitar in and reveled in the familiar crackle of his amp powering on. It was showtime.

About halfway through the set, gunshots rang out.

Maytham al-Tammar finished his test with the highest marks in his class. When he got his junior officer acceptance letter, he felt an energy in his veins and immediately told his mom and dad. Their gleaming smiles formed a core memory he’d carry for the rest of his life.

Next came the practical training. The Sacred Flight, the CSRA’s airforce, imparted more knowledge to him than junior officer school ever could. It was a struggle for Maytham. But his religion kept a fire roaring inside of him. He dreamt of being a warfighter pilot since he was a child. He yearned to become one with the angels of his faith and defend his countrymen against the goblins if they ever rose again.

Meeting his plane was the stuff dreams were made of. It was a massive thing, suspended in a house-sized vat of green sludge to keep it inert. It curled its wings around its metallic body. Smoldering gold runes formed around it and quickly sputtered out from the inhibiting sludge. Maytham swore he saw a set of eyes form and stare into his soul as if the machine knew he was the one selected for it. After that, he was dizzy all day. His superiors assured him that this was normal, and to expect his kind of thing throughout his training. This was a common sentiment. Throughout pilot school, they warned trainees that they may very lose their minds, or become inseparably bonded to their machines. Suicide, depression, and adult-onset schizophrenia were commonplace among veteran warfighters. The spirits bonded to the chassis were selected for their violence and power. This made them far more deleterious to be around for a human. Many pilots opted for more controllable and safe celestial engines, such as cargo planes. It was for this reason that Sacred Flight airmen were allowed to have a lot more R&R than other officers.

Then came today. The day Matham was to go on his first flight with his celestial engine. The normally cool officer felt a pit in his stomach all day. He wasn’t hungry, and he kept going to the bathroom for fear of having to go while on the flight. When he reported to the hanger for duty, Zephyrite shamans surrounded the hulking plane in stasis. Most people in the hangar stopped working to watch the first flight. It was a sacred day.

At this point, Maytham was physically shaking. His heart raced as the shamans danced and chanted around the plane's vat. The golden comms helmet he wore was drenched in sweat at this point. Maytham was no stranger to flying. The CSRA had many non-bonded air vehicles. But this was a different beast entirely. This was something that could cut through the sky and level entire cities in a matter of hours. It was alive and full of volatile, unknown emotions. He kept thinking back to stories of planes that hated their pilot and melted their brains.

Then, his commanding officer put a hand on his shoulder. “Junior Officer al-Tammar. It’s going to be ok. I’ve seen dozens of pilots way less qualified than you have a fine first flight. You have nothing to worry about.”

Maytham gave a sharp nod and kept walking towards the plane. Workers began to drain the liquid from the containment and the hulking celestial engine began to stir. The runes that were popping around it became more frequent. Eventually, it had the trademark burning layer of floating gold runes that many of the CSRA’s enemies had learned to fear.

That set of smoldering eyes appeared again as Maytham reached the cockpit. It felt like they were looking straight through his visor into his soul. It felt furious. The Zephyrite Shamans were screaming and whooping at this point, their heads were thrown back and their neck veins bulging. Maytham broke at this point. He tried to turn and walk away, but he saw dozens of people all staring at him. “There’s no going back,” he thought to himself. “I’ve come too far to walk away.”

He entered the cockpit and sat down. The comms system buzzed in his head. “ATC to rookie. Do you hear us? Over.”
Matham dropped the integration needle in his lap and jumped a bit in his seat. All he blurted out was “Yea. I’m pretty nervous right now. Over.”

“You have nothing to worry about rookie, you’re in good hands with us. That bird you got looks to be in great shape. Let us know when you plug in. Over.”

For some reason, this made Maytham’s heart slow down a bit. He chalked it up to the realization that there was a huge support team behind him if anything went wrong. He took the integration needle from his lap. Attached to it was the usual neural chord, but this one was a bit different. It pulsed. He took a deep breath and put the needle in the guide at the base of his neck. Maytham quickly plunged the needle into the guide between his vertebrae.

“I’m plugged in now. Over,” he chatted to ATC. Maytham sat in his leather seat for a few minutes. This process had a lot of variability for when it could happen. Sacred Flight doctrine always said to just relax and let it happen naturally. The first time was always the most unpredictable because it was the first bond.

Maytham’s mind started to wander. He thought about the Peace Movement protests, his family, and if he would ever experience a dogfight. Then he thought about those weird eyes, and if the plane knew who he was.

It felt like lightning started spewing down the needle into his spine, spreading through his nerves into his fingers. Matham no longer felt like he was in the cockpit. He couldn’t see anything aside from burning gold eyes, staring into his soul. Then with a flash, it felt like he was in a holding tank. He became acutely aware there were approximately 37 men in the building, and he could see their heat signatures radiating around them. The holding tank felt suffocating. The shamans danced around him, but he couldn’t hear them. He couldn’t hear anything.

. The hanger slowly opened to reveal a runway, and the holding tank’s walls dropped down with a thud. Matham became aware of a warbled “You’re cleared for takeoff rookie, over” from the comms channel. He didn’t hear it normally though. It was as though the knowledge was just implanted into his brain.

It was time to fly.

Goo sat at her desk, the cable of her telephone's handset coiled around her finger, as she waited to be connected. Surrounded by windows that were essentially glass walls, the brilliant blue of the sky gracefully seeped into the room alongside the golden rays of the midday Sun making the office look reminiscent of an aquarium. A fitting look for a company, and a nation that's history was so closely tied to that of water.

Though their future now lied within in the airwaves, something the current president, and former idol, was trying to expand at this current moment.

With Green/ Gold preparing to travel the globe on their World Tour, Goo and her staff were hard at work performing all the necessary busywork that precipitated such a journey. Visa's, accommodations, reservations, weather reports, each and everything vital to the success of the greatest tour in history was carefully being monitored and verified by Goo's most trusted associates. Goo herself had thought it prudent to contact her fellow head's of country to give them the good news, as well as hopefully speed up the process with her usual charming ways but for now she remained on hold.

Untangling the cord from her finger, she got to her feet, cupping the receiver in between her neck and shoulder as she headed for the door to her office and it's transparent wall. Knocking on the glass with her ring finger, her assistant Clifton looked up at her from behind his desk outside with diligent attention as he covered the receiver of his own phone. Moving her arm like a wave through the glass, Goo waited as Clifton simultaneously swiped through his tablet and talked on the phone. After a few moments the rock man placed the tablet eye height on to the glass from his seat, the report of the Party Boat's construction in full view. After a minutes perusal, Goo nodded happily before shifting to the side and making another gesture through the glass.

Still conversing with the Concierge of the Great Elizabeth Hotel, Clifton watched as Ms Seouji held her hands to each side in front of herself as if driving a car. Pulling up the schematics and reports for the new and improved Party Bus, Clifton pressed his tablet to the glass again. After another moment of scanning the documentation on the device, Goo gave a thumbs up to Clifton.

A voice finally came down the line for Goo. Another hand gesture followed, this time for a cup of tea, as Goo strutted back to her desk. Clicking his fingers together with a resounding snap, Clifton gave his full attention back to his call, as one of the many people in the office rushed off to make a round of tea.

World Tree
1671640075546.png
The Magistrati were the first foreign nation to ever reach beyond the forests of the World Tree to their capital city and set up shop within their territory. The enclave caused quite the stir among the citizenry and the nobility, causing everyone to question Ellario's decision and his intentions. But they did so behind his back and away from loyalists like the Wardens Aurum and Gihu'nan. They both were the only Wardens to accompany the King to the grand opening of the enclave were a few of the commonfolk and some of the nobility were waiting for them.

As Ellario arrived with his Wardens he was greeted by lowered heads from both his citizens and the elven guests who the Magistrati had sent to run the enclave. "Thank you everyone for being here in support of this momentous occasion! The world outside our forests is changing and with it new threats arise that we cannot face alone!" Ellario's voice resounded off of nearby trees, holding the attention of his people and waking any animals still sleeping in their woodland homes.

"Our focus will always be the World Tree, but with this enclave we have taken the first step in building a partnership to strengthen our great tree's defenses, as well as bolstering our numbers against the demon threat." A roar of applause rose up from the crowd and their Magistrati guests. The King turned to them and gestured to the doors of the enclave. The crowd moved inside, following the foreign elves and marveling at the fine architecture of the structure.

The World Tree was setting off down a new path only Ellario was banking on the help of outsiders to hep protect their great tree

BoN Act 3: Modern Age

War has been declared between the Major Corporation of CLS and the Empire of Hate as the Empire of Hate has launched a full scale assault on the capital in a effort to claim the corporation and its people for its own.

This has sent stock markets in a landslide as people attempt to save their well hard earned money from complete and utter annihilation at the prospect of the complete and utter annihilation of an institution.

The battle continues to rage on, even after a month as it seems that it is a hard fought battle for the CLS to attempt to reclaim what is theirs from the heavily entrenched Empire of Hate.

The rest of the world has been scrambling as no one expected the Empire of Hate to attack so soon, especially against a neutral neighbor. Some are scrambling to send funds, move troops in closer, or just watch and wait to see what happens to two of the most major groups of power in the North West of the world.

The Capital continues to grow larger and larger. Filled with the Hate that is projected by their “eternal” leader. Theirs will be an enduring empire that will rush to the ages and take down even enormous corporations that are as powerful as entire nations themselves.

It is their destiny to crush all opposition before them in the name of their glorious leader. They would give their lives to see his goals completed.

A new Policy was instituted just for such an occasion.

All you Need is Hate-
All “Native” hate units are now at half upkeep. The nation gains-1 Order every turn while this is active until the original upkeep value is paid.

EoH forces managed to secure the city with little fanfare, easily dispatching what few security forces decided to even attempt a fight.

The city was theirs, the capital section of a sprawling metropolis that stretched as far as the eyes could see in either direction.

The battle came later as the forces from the newly constructed Red Light District arrived with their hired gun, Miss Information.

The battle raged onwards, but in the end, the city still remained theirs, though the fighting continues on.

The Capital has fallen. Chaos reigns on the streets as the Empire of Hate has free reign across all the streets, plundering and pillaging all they want. The investors trying to salvage what they can from companies as some stocks begin to plummet down into the red.

Others begin their own secret plans. The new found church begins calming the people as best as they can, bringing forth some semblance of calming and order to the chaos, even as the fighting begins on the streets from the CLS engaging directly with the EoH troops.

The battle raged and people on both sides fell. As the month closed out, the fighting had not yet ended and continues yet to rage.

The capital has reached a higher pinnacle of its existence, growing more colorful, more vibrant and steadily more bouncy. The words could not describe its beauty and one would either laugh, cry or melt at its awe and majesty.

The capital upgrade has been completed and now there is more room for the people to expand and thrive on the new trades and deals that have been acknowledged. It is only a matter of time before the people outside of The Kingdom begin to realize just how great The Sunset Kingdom is.

The people will make sure that they know this and bow down before their splendor.

To accomplish this task, a new settlement has begun construction on the islands, one that will grow to eventually equal the capital in its one splendor.

The Capital SHip continues to grow and expand back to its full capabilities as it once had been before it had come to this new realm. Soon enough it would reach the full majesty of what it had once been. But for now, the repairs have been coming along quite well.

The people were happy in these waters that have proven true and fair. These waters would of course still need to be fully explored, but now with a Lord of the Sea on their side, the people were feeling more confident about what they were dealing with.

Their god has provided them with protection from outsiders and the outside world. It was due to its boon from their sacrifices of MEAT that they continued to join in this great bounty.

Unlock Quest- The Lord of the Sea has told of a great bounty deep inside the volcano on the island that the scouts had overlooked. Inside lies a Great and Powerful Ruby that can control the Land.

The capital grows and expands with the people becoming very happy from such a noble growth. It was their time now, their time to grow the darkness and push out further and further into other lands that are new and different from their own.

They have begun to experience other cultures and they wanted more of it. They craved this new and intriguing information that was far and away from their thoughts previously.

A new policy of Bubble and Roil was put into place to speed up the training of their troops at the cost of making them weaker to the sunlight than before. It was deemed an acceptable task as the world seems a dangerous enough place that they would have to be prepared.

Quest Gained- The exploratory group uncovered an ancient temple. It stated a prophecy that if they were to build a great settlement there, it would awaken an ancient warrior to come aid them in battle.

The Capital grows and grows well from beyond its hardened borders of flesh and rusted metals. It was finally a time that they would grow beyond what they had instead of just building on top of each other as they had before and time again.

The Bloodbrood moves further and further north to come to New Yong and complete their task. But how would the musical people react to such aggressive movement? Only time would tell.

Quest Chain- The Heart of this land beats strong and true. But what if it was possible to further extend this land once more? What if it was possible to spread the growthlands to the rest of the continent and even beyond it?

The Capital continues its grand construction so that it will be bigger and greater than ever before. The place is all abuzz with the possibility of setting up a coalition between many nations across the world to help with their policing of not just the waters, but the lands as well.

The scientists are still collaborating on the data and it is not ready yet to be received.

Magistrata has been expanded thanks to the hard work of their engineers both magical and mundane. It was a hard bit of craft as the structure still remained in the skies as it had done so and continued to be a work of marvel.

They have already received much information from their enclaves around the world on their way to create world peace. Already, the influx of other cultures has begun to make their way to the the capital. Not only in the television and airways, but also different types of cuisine from elsewhere that the people wished to indulge in.

The Supply Hub grants 10 land units to be free of upkeep while in the capital. It was a genius idea that was instituted upon discovering a large hidden cache in a nearby cave. If they eased it out slowly, they would make sure that they could support some troops within the capital far easier than ever before. And if they continued with following their actions, they could make it last and last.

They instituted a new Policy: Extra Training- Troops are now at half cost, but they still have to pay full original upkeep.

The capital continues to grow larger and larger as the needs of its people and its burgeoning alliance continue to have a greater need. The Party Boat and the Party Bus were deemed a success as it allowed great movement across the lands and the sea. The downside of the Party Bus was that since it was Urban based, it could not move across difficult terrain at all.

But that did not stop the people from renting them out and driving them all over town. It only made the average citizen want them more. They weren’t interested in leaving the city unless it was to go to another city elsewhere in the world.

They were even more eager to drive around the city now that the Tent City had been converted into just more actual city with a proper place for the displaced goblinkind to actually live and show off their impressive musical skills.

CyberLink Solutions Turn 3

≡≡≡≡≡ ≡≡≡≡≡ ≡≡≡≡≡ ≡≡≡≡≡ ≡≡≡≡≡

Combat still raged in the Central District, but thanks to the hiring of Miss Information, one of the best purchases of CyberLink Solutions in recent memory, the battle was going in their favor. Only one enemy hold out remained, although Miss Information had taken her share of licks in the combat as the Empire of Hate fought far better then imagined. Many in the upper echelons of CyberLink Solutions expected a wave of reinforcements to come from the Empire of Hate but were confident the city would be reclaimed.. Well, most were. Risk analysis meant the hiring of The Immovable Object was a must even if it stretched the cities finances to the limit, but it was with great luck that a large group of refugees happened to arrive, fleeing persecution from another nation. In another time, they would have been allowed to stay, after all, good PR is good PR, and they would have made excellent experiment stock and a cheap source of labor with no political pull for themselves to dispute CLS's hold over them. Sadly, this could not be the case as the city needed money. The refugees were rounded up and sold back to their nation of origin for quite the resource return. Enough resources to keep the war going for some time should the Empire of Hate decide to send reinforcements to the Battle of Central.

Many, including the Chairman, himself, was confident this war would end soon. One way or another. The loss of the city would be regrettable, but he could always rebuild again, in another era, time, after all, had always been an ally. If the city stood, it would be weakened and take time to rebuild which.. would be annoying. Luckily the conflict with the Empire of Hate had no awoken the slumbering empire to their north, but perhaps that could be turned to their favor? They couldn't truly profit from talks until trade was established, but if the Empire could be roused to defend CyberLink's interest then, well, all the better. This was their home, after all, and no one wanted a nation that dubbed itself the 'Empire of Hate' as a neighbor. One that attacked other nations with no formal declaration.

Of course, the plan could backfire and the once great empire could decide to try and regain it's former glory, but even then, bending the knee to a nation that is more... reasonable while they continued to turn profits was much more reasonable then being annihilated by fanatics. It was, after all, about pragmatism. Everything was just good business.

"Hi Stars!" Andromeda said to the camera with a large smile on her face that seemed to light up the small room she was in, "I know, I know, you've all been worried about me because those creepy Hate guys, really who calls themselves Hate? Like, hello, it is 2300, get with the times already, but I got out and am currently set up in the new Red Light District."

"I know a lot of you who watch me are from around the world, but to the stars that see this and are in Gaalvax, I hope you and your families are safe, wherever you are. If you are from around the world, please think about donating to some charities to help those that are in need, we shine best when we shine together," the influencer said with a sad smile as she reached out to gently pat the camera as if to give all her viewers a small touch of comfort.

The woman paused as she bit her bottom lip and leaned back to look out a window, "I'm going to be real, I'm not sure I like it here in the RLD. Its nice, don't get me wrong, really pretty. The architecture, alone, is way better then Central, but the G.A.Ls and stuff? Weird. But if that's your thing, Stars, that's your thing and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but not for this girl. No thank you. I'm more of a cuddle bunny then, well, whatever you stars do with your G.A.Ls and Handymen."

She leaned forward and put her chin on her knuckles and blew a lock of hair out of her face, "I don't even have a proper gaming rig here yet to entertain you lovelies, and I'm so sorry about that. There will be a poll going up soon to see what kind of content I should do in the meantime. Should I try and get more information on the war, should I do some AMAs? Reactions? See what you lovelies are posting up on the tendril? I'm mortified by you stars seeing me eat, but maybe we can eat and chat for awhile? Whatever it is, let me know on the pole, I want to do whatever I can for you because each, and every one, of you keep me going and if I can provide even the slimmest of comfort to you lovelies, I will."

The Bloodbrood Swarms
70b203cbb97500b63c63060f248f0e3c.jpg
Miles of flesh fields and forests of bone and blood.

Their beasts carried them from the pulsating homelands of the Swarms to the dusty canyon to the north. It was at the mouth of the canyon that the gang of mounted Slaughter Seekers took pause, with their goal laying further still in the northeast. It would be simple compared to the first leg of their journey, but the enthusiasm of the slaughter seekers had waned significantly since setting out from Burkhenyard.

"But why?" a Burnvein Apostle asked after sliding off of his Scuttle Bug.

"Because I'm a warrior! Not a damned messenger!" a Muzzler declared before rubbing a hand along the maw of his own Scuttle Bug "Missy wants bloodshed, not a tinny lil' runt gal;livanting about in song!"

"He's got a point..." the rumbling groan of one of the Feasting came next, sitting down between two other Bugs whilst casually gnawing on a leathery chunk of flesh "Even if get war.... those outsiders... meh."

"Meh, that's about right." another Bloodbrood nodded as grunts of agreement came from several others.

"We have a mission!" the Apostle pounded a fist against his chest "Besides, if it does lead to war then maybe we can show those dancing ninnies how to really kill! Would actually love to see something like that!"

"How about somethin' grander!?!" a voice called out from above, leading the slaughter seekers to immediately draw weapons and turn the barrels of numerous guns up to a figure riding a Scuttle Bug above them.

But the Apostle leaned closer a bit before lifting the visor of his helmet up, "Solfuris?"

5432d05c6fb815c32f3e1c5d9f81521e.pngThe Swarmlord of the Loot Brigade cackled before rearing back on his Scuttle Bug and forcing it forwards. The Creature hoped from one outcropping of rock to the other, descending down the edges of the canyon before slamming into the ground just as Solfuris leaped from its back and landed in a roll before the Slaughter Seekers.

"Was he following us?" one grunted before twisting the barrel of her rifle "An ambush!?!"

"Calm calm, brothers and sisters." Solfuris held up both hands, his hammers dangling from his belt "I ain't here for that kinda good time, I'm here offering you's a chance to help your Swarms out in two ways instead of one. Getcha all pumped and ready before those dancin' folk kill ya with boredom."

At that the Apostle gave pause. Already he could see looks of interest among the crowd of Slaughter Seekers, even from some who seemed distracted. Narrowing his eyes, the Apostle flipped down his visor and folded his arms before eyeing Solfuris up and down.

"See, there was some talk around ol' Burkhenyard not long before ya'll left. I was all thinkin' how I could show ol' Bledmoore how much I'm lookin forward to his reign!" Solfuris pounded his chest in excitement "So me 'n a few other Swarmlords got this grand idea for makin' some moves if ya followin' me. Gonna turn our collective eyes north for some big ol' construction stuff. Since ya'll are up here already, figured it'd be more fun for ya to help us put together this whole setup of ours! Be a waste to have you all up here just playin' courier."

"That's what I said!" the First Muzzler stated, only for the Apostle to hold a hand up towards him.

"And what exactly would this 'help' be?" the Apostle asked, prompting Solfuris to clap his hands together and stroll closer. The Apostle stiffened up as the Swarmlord came closer, having to stop himself from reaching for his baton as the true differences in their height became clear. Solfuris was easily two heads taller than him, coming up to even the Feasting's scale. And when one of his massive claws wrapped around to pull him close, the Apostle made his grumble of annoyance clear.

Solfuris cared little, turning him to point deeper into the canyon.

"Now, ya know a lil about that glowy piece o' work there?" Solfuris asked pointing distinctively to a particular smoking peak far in the distance.

"Is that... Forgelord's Kiln?" the Apostle asked, only for Solfuris to pat him on the back before striding past him.

"Yes yes! The very inferno the Molten Hand loves to go on about gettin' its start in!" Solfuris clenched his hands into fists "With the war over, seems they're finally ready to put their money where their mouth is! We's gonna turn that lovely lil' spire of lava into the world's finest workshop! Get it pumpin out weapons and kit faster than any factory in the fleshlands."

"You're crazy if you think one gang of Slaughter Seekers is enough to tame the Kiln." the Apostle stated, only for Solfuris to shake his head.

"We ain't goin' straight for it ya daft bastard." Solfuris spun around and jerked a thumb behind him "There's a nifty lil' cove right near the other mouth o' this canyon that the Hand wants to set up at, get a good staging ground goin before they take the Kiln."

The Apostle went quiet at that, just staring at Solfuris for a moment until chatter behind him drew his attention. Already he could see nods of interest among the Slaughter Seekers, with some of them already mounting their Scuttle Bugs and turning them away from their intended route. But the Apostle couldn't deny the appeal of the offer. Clearing new areas for any locale, especially one like the staging area Solfuris was speaking of, inevitably brought heaps of wildlife to cull and territory to tame. If nothing else it would be a refreshing break before dealing with their extremely... vocal neighbors.

Eventually he turned back to Solfuris and, from the smile the Brigadier Master wore, he could probably tell he already had them.

"He took... them?" the d6929900bdd8b2e736f89531c47d3ed7.jpgHigh Swarmlord paused in the middle of an attack to turn and raise an eyebrow to Kels.

"Yes sir, seems he encountered them on his venture north and decided they were the most suitable for the task." Kels sighed before reaching up to massage his eyes.

He dreaded delivering such news from the moment he had been made aware of it. Swarmlord Solfuris of the Loot Brigade had managed to reroute the very group of Slaughter Seekers sent to deliver that mysterious cube to their northern neighbor. During discussions of the transformation of the Kiln, Kels remembered telling Solfuris he could enlist any Bloodbrood he encountered to aid in the staging area. And despite the odds of him actually being able to catch up to them, of course he'd recruit the one group that was actually busy with something at the time.

"This is all my fault sir," Kels stated as the High Swarmlord turned his attention back to a meat covered practice dummy "I should've been more specific about-"

"No... its fine." Bledmoore stated as he brought down his massive cleaver down onto the dummy and split it in half from head to groin "They help... then they continue."

He jammed his cleaver into the floor before grabbing one half of the dummy and examining the split meat "But no more... cube won't remain amongst our swarms for long."

"I'll be sure to relay this." Kels stated before giving a brief cough as Bledmoore moved to feast upon the meaty dummy "Ahem, aside from that. There's something several of my Apostles have learned concerning our home."

Bledmoore paused, mouth wide and ready to recieve the flavor of the defeated. But it closed as he glanced back to Kels.

"With help from the Muzzlers, I've heard they may have a method by which to spread the flesh." he explained, "To control it beyond-"

"We already control this land." Bledmoore stated "We feast on it, slaughter and enslave its children, and poison it without reprieve. This land has been beaten... since long before you or I."

Kantus_Zealot_render_G5.jpg"Yes yes, but just because its mind is dead doesn't mean we can't still harness some of the powers it once wielded." Kels pointed out "Think of it, sir. After this we could be calling forth and crafting new beasts beyond what we've already tamed, commanding the sensory systems it once did. We could never be caught unaware by land or sea! We could build armies of Flesh monsters that we craft ourselves!"

"Why bring this to me?"

Kels paused suddenly, "Sir?"

"Your interest is clear." Bledmoore pulled a piece of meat from the dummy with his teeth "why bring this to me... instead of investigate as you please?"

"Ah... well," Kels pressed his hands together before nodding to himself "I have been told the costs of researching this would be... notable."

"You seek aid... instead of perservere on your own." Bledmoore shook his head "The beast that was our home was unworthy, it deserved its nuetered fate. I'm not convinced its powers are worth my assistance, especially when the taking of the Kiln seems like it will be a... rather vast endeavor."

"Please sir," Kels said "this could be our people's ticket to a proper war!"

"Then convince me well, brother." was all Bledmoore said as he licked his fingers clean "Your ambitions depend on it."

The Economic Organization of the New Creation
Post Theme - Spring 2300, May - Pictured Above, An Ink business in the Amnonicus Hierarchy in the Dimension of Durin.
Each race and each society answers the question of resource allocation differently. From the outside, it may appear that the Konomi have a centralized economic system. Though, once understood better. It will become clear that centralized economic systems are more impossible than seen in other races. The Konomi reside in extreme passion, expressions, and floods of emotion. Of course, Konomi are not pure chaos. Their short two decade history and ability to develop impressive modern / modern+ technology with deep culture and complex governance shows their ability to innovate and make an orderly society. There's an aspect of order to everything, or a method to the madness. They ebb and flow as tides with goods and services a drift the ever changing opinions of the public.

That's not to say there is no constant or understandable price for goods and services. Just that Konomi stocks, bonds, and other monetary instruments can vary wildly, and even with foreign assets should the Konomi have access to them. Not to mention that the Konomi see goods and services in a different light than the rest of the world. Scarcity and its many forms all need to be addressed somehow. And the answers have been relatively similar to one another across nations and races. There are only so many allocations that can be made, but some allocations have been less optimal than others for the races of the world. A slight spread of economic systems across nations allows each other to trade and influence each other in stable ways. However, should there be an outlier in the mix, the interactions can create chaos and problems if not properly prepared for ahead of time. Speaking of an outlier, the Konomi economy follows different trends than the rest of the world. Often described as a "Clusterfuck" by outsiders, the Konomi economy lacks the centralized components of the rest of the world such as corporations and guilds. Instead, they form complex business networks called Ferbs. These Ferbs share talent, ideas, advertising funds, and other community funds with each member Hub. Ferbs lack centralized ownership, meaning that member hubs work on a method of managing community funds among other things.

Each Ferb may consist of hubs of various different industries. They are usually related to each other in various ways. Some work with distribution, others in consulting. Each Ferb has complex relationships that mimic royal politics. Though, the Konomi and their deep empathetic nature prevents these complex interactions from getting vile and insane that other nations would have to worry about. Of course, Konomi lack the tribalism for these complex networks to be problems at the highest level.

These complex networks allow for new ideas, schools of thought, and philosophies to interact and engage on design and purpose. However, the innovation process within hubs/ferbs is much slower than in businesses elsewhere. However, the Konomi society at large fills this gap with the constant return to educational institutions. Konomi universities and colleges have a cycling system of education that resembles the Socratic method, more than traditional schooling. This causes multiple schools of thought and different ideas to constantly evolve and change in influence over time. These leads to mini renaissances as the cycle continues to forward Konomi thought and design. It is speculated as why the Konomi developed so quickly as they go through ideas as a model goes through clothes. Which can make them difficult to have long term relationships.

These constant changes in business often leave outsiders frustrated as business relationships can change quickly. This would be magnified by the lack of change in the political sphere. Despite the Konomi's ebb and flow, Amno and his governance provides the stability needed for foreign relations found no where else in Konomi society. This can be incredibly frustrating as their volatility introduces risk for investors. Of course, the Konomi themselves have their unique financial instruments to handle such problems. However, the Konomi financial market places safe instruments in universities and colleges as they receive a constant stream of revenue. The rest of the market is full of medium risk and above securities, though they had plenty of opportunity to become incredibly rich.

Would the Konomi allow grounded ones to invest? And if they were allowed to, would they dare?

Ellario stepped out of the hovering automobile, his black suit reflecting the sun's brilliant light and contrasting with the sterile white architecture and the lush green foliage that surrounded them. There was a figure awaiting his arrival outside the structure, Warden Aurum. "Warden.' The King said softly as he approached the woman and his eyes slowly rose upward to gaze at the magnificence of the building. "What am I looking at, Warden Aurum?"

The elven woman gestured for Ellario to follow her as she started towards the entrance. "The news of the Empire of Hate's mind control method startled every one of the Wardens, but I took the initiative to do something about it. This is Halamshiral's first radio jammer. It will help to block out the empire's messages. It isn't perfect, but we will work diligently to keep your subjects safe." Aurum stopped at the center of the building, All around them other elves were working to stabilize the jammer's output and signal power.

Ellario looked around at all the people working and smiled. Halamshiral was thriving and its people were working hard despite what news they'd gotten from the outside world. "We thank you for your service on our behalf." Ellario spoke on behalf of the World Tree and himself as he marveled at the dedication that Aurum had shown. "Keep up the good work, Warden Aurum." The king tilted his head in her direction before she bowed properly to the King. Ellario turned away and started towards the exit of the radio jammer once more.

The conversation with Aurum had gotten the wheels turning in Ellario's mind, making him feel the need to act and be proactive. And he came up with one idea. Returning to the palace and to his sanctuary with the World Tree. "Hello great one." Ellario greeted with a smile as he approached the trunk of the tree and reached out a palm to press against it. "I need your assistance." He slowly knelt down beside the tree with his forehead pressed against it. Slowly the King's mind started to meld with the tree's and it revealed to him a vision of the past.

Treebeard GIFs - Get the best GIF on GIPHY
The vision began with roots and rose up through the soil to reveal a dense forest where the ground shook and trembled beneath Ellario's feet. Then he heard the thumping and stomping loud enough to deafen himself. When he looked up he saw what looked to be the roots of a tree passing over his head and then he realized it was a tree, a walking tree with arms and a face. "T-The trees are moving." He followed under their large feet, moving carefully to avoid being stepped upon and before he knew it the vision transported him to the edge of the forest. Explosions sounded in the distance and as he turned to look around, the scene became more familiar to him. It was the Night Silver Woods, where the demons first showed up during the last age. They had caught the elves off guard here an the armies would not have made it in time to fight the dark hordes. "This is your doing? Your army?" The King stumbled forward as she watched the ents rush to battle, clashing with the demons.

It took a minute to click, but Ellario finally made sense of what the vision was meant to show him. Abruptly the vision ended and Ellario awoke to push himself away from the tree, jumping to his feet. "We have an enemy who can control the minds of the people and we need non-sentient defenders to resist their influence." He pressed his palm to the trees trunk once more and looked up at the canopy high above his head. "Please lend us your-." Before he could finish his sentence the tree started to creak and groan, the ground shaking as tremors rocked all of Halamshiral. Ellario rushed to the nearest window to see the forests surrounding their city being shaken and the animals fleeing from it.

The World Tree had expended a portion of its power to transform the forests, making them into deadly traps that would attack and kill any intruders. They would soon have the defenders they needed.

The Forgotten of Ulbricht
The Grand Council
Council Chambers
Personal Log #247
“With Koenig looking more and more like it did prior to the Great War, we now have room to start reactivating some of our more…defensive facilities,” Grand Marshal Heinrich Vetter said with pleasure. Opposite him the Autarch and Chancellor looked at him with questioning eyes.

“What is it that you propose Grand Marshal?” Victor asked with some semblance of concern. He knew that what Heinrich was going to suggest would be far from defensive and also in the opposite direction that he wanted to move his nation.Yet, Heinrich carried weight with the Autarch, it was he who fundamentally secured Victor’s position during the strife in the early days of exile into the bunkers.

“In the time of the Great War the Judges were exemplary in pushing us towards victory. If not for the Life Eater Virus, we know that the war would have been ours to win,” Heinrich said with a certain amount of pride in his voice. The mere mention of the Judges caused Chancellor Bernard Hacker to gasp.

“Do you propose to reactivate the Judges at a time of peace?!” the Chancellor challenged ferociously. His question was met with laughter from the Field Marshal.

“No Chancellor, not at all…not all of them anyway,” replied Heinrich with a grin stretching across his face.

“Autarch, we cannot afford to soil our name with the Judges so early after our return to the surface,” Bernard said, looking Victor directly in the eyes. “I cannot and will never doubt the impact the Judges had in turning the tide of the war, but we are currently in the midst of peace and they must only ever be a last resort!”

Victor didn’t immediately answer, instead contemplating the points of each as Heinrich gave his retort.

“Bernard...I have sat here with you in each of our briefings over the last three weeks and told you of the threat that is already attacking a nearby nation. The Empire of Hate only have one goal and their name clearly implies what that is. If they are victorious there is nothing to say they won’t change direction and set their eyes upon us…we must be ready and for that I propose we reactivate the Ordo Hereticus and Judge Rutger…and only Judge Rutger…for now at least.”

The Chancellor let out a sigh of relief. Judge Rutger was one of the most effective Judges at limiting any collateral damage and a far cry from some of the others who favoured a scorched earth approach.

“Once re-established, I suggest we task the Ordo Hereticus with working to actively hinder the operations of the Empire of Hate. Send the Cerebrum in and let them deal with the threat the Empire of Hate poses.”

The Chancellor motioned to speak but instead held his words back, instead finding himself agreeing with the suggestion by the Field Marshal. The Autarch cast his eyes over both and made his decision.

“It is settled then. Chancellor, ensure the immediate rebuild of the Ordo Hereticus facility. Field Marshal, reactivate Judge Rutger and brief him of our expectations,” Victor said. “But let us be clear, the other Judges are to remain deactivated until my word is given. Their methods are beyond what I consider necessary for our current situation. It is important that we do not revert back to the level of brutality the Great War pushed us to. If a threat great enough arises then so be it, but until that time we must be how we hope to live our future. Understood?”

“Yes Autarch,” replied Heinrich and Bernard in unison.

“That concludes our meeting for today then. Please be quick about your tasks, this is something we need to move forward with in good haste so we can hopefully assist the nation under the assault by the Empire.”

Hunter and Dre were led through the corridors, the rock man taking up the rear as the lanky man with a headset and black shirt walked alongside his fellow Trainee. Pulling up his trousers from time to time, as they navigated the seemingly endless corridors, Hunter had tried to spark up conversation with Dre but to little avail and within this maze of hallways, he didn't fancy distracting their guide lest they lose their way. Arriving at the end of a corridor, the man with the headset stopped at a door marked Private

"Here we are gentlemen. Studio One" he said cheerily, opening the door for them and beckoning them in with a pleasant smile.

Dre quickly entered, while Hunter hung in the doorway, his two massive hands the only thing keeping him standing as his legs turn to mud. Inside the massive, crisp white room lay a mass of instruments, from nearly every genre, neatly arrayed against the far wall and on the other side was a gigantic dance mirror that ran the full length of the other wall. In the corner was their former rival and newest superstar Brik A'Brak and his band, banging their heads along to some pre-recorded Goblin Grunge. However that was nothing compared to what waited in the middle of the room, the most famous girl group of all time, Green/Gold.

Nestled around a series of performance blocks, Hunter's eyes darted between all of them in abject amazement. On the left, sat Emerald, strumming away at something that the rocky rapper couldn't recognise, an instrument that looked kind of like a guitar. Obviously their main vocalist was working on some new musical incorporation for their latest song thought Hunter.

Resting her head on Gemma's shoulder was the warming Kim, the kind hearted harmonizer undoubtedly helping out her bandmate with her idealistic imagination. The defacto leader Kim, was busy hanging out with Brik A'Brak's bunch, inquisitively probing them with questions. Dressed in the iconic traditional kimono that she always favoured, Priya was playfully pulling away her fellow Dancer, trying to get her attention back to the rest of the band. Full of infectious energy it wasn't long before Green/Gold was back together in the middle of the room.

And looking at the new entrants.

"Hi!" they shouted, almost in unison.

Hunter gave a nervous wave, almost slipping through the doorway in the process. Dre did the same from his haunt near the doorway, barely lifting his hand as he gave a blasé wave.

"Ey! Lads!" screeched Brik A'Brak, looking up from his music "Ola not with ya?"

He tried to peer behind the granite giant to see if the Trainee Dancer was perhaps stuck behind him. Hunter shook his head "Nope. Sorry mate she ain't with us.."

"Darling's. This is the Fast Track."

Hunter quickly stepped out the of way, as Goo strutted into the room, striking a pose in the process.

"Only the best of the best are enrolled within it and Miss Ola isn't quite up to snuff."

She looked at her finely manicured nails. "Can't have my greatest artists train just anybody."

Brik A'Brak mouth flickered as if he was about to say something but Goo quickly cut him off. "Come now, dearies." she said loudly, clapping her hands together "Chop Chop. We have alot of work to do."

Carson looked out from his vantage point on the second story of a deserted office building. He was on his way to rendezvous with the rest of his unit after getting separated during the fighting but had decided to stop here to rest up temporarily. His vision was largely obscured and tinted red by the two small lenses of his gas mask, but as far as he could tell the coast looked clear, and any sounds of battle he could hear sounded elsewhere, off in the distance.

His head throbbed and the skin on his face felt itchy and sore from the extended wear of his gas mask so he took his helmet off and unfastened the clasps of his mask, then removed that as well. He took a few deep breathes of the unfiltered air and then reached for one of the pockets on his jump suit. Opening it up, he pulled out a small water bottle. He twisted the cap off and brought the bottle to his lips, taking a few sips of the clear liquid, before placing the lid back on and twisting it tightly closed again.

This brief respite allowed Carson to reflect on his situation a bit. Although they still held Gaalvax, the battle had not be going in the Empire's favour. They had lost their air support and their Femforce compatriots to Cyberlink's latest mercenary acquisition, now only he and his fellow Spectreans remained. It was to be expected that one who fought for money rather than a cause would end up in the pocket of CLS, for the corporation was the living embodiment of greed. Without her intervention, Carson was positive that the CLS would have fallen at the hands of the Empire and its people freed from the corporation's evil machinations.

Despite what those outside the Empire probably thought, the Empire's mission was one of liberation, of freedom for the citizens of Gaalvax. He and his fellow soldiers had been given specific orders from the outset to specifically target key infrastructure and avoid casualties were possible. The Empire's aim was to cripple CyberLink Solutions, make it bleed its precious green lifeblood, not wholesale slaughter and mindless destruction.

Wholesale slaughter and mindless destruction? Carson's mind began to wander back through time, to a period of his life when that was his sole purpose.

At a mere eight years old, his parents were butchered in front of him by armed men in one of the many meaningless conflicts that had engulfed the region throughout the ages. Forced to live on the streets, he survived by scavenging and stealing for food until he was abducted by local guerrilla's. Like hundreds of children before him, they put a gun in his hand and trained him how to use it before turning him upon their enemies. And their enemies seemed endless, when one fell, another would inevitably rise to take their place, be it an opposing faction, corrupt or weak governments or simply a small village that refused to fall in line with their demands. Their words seemed sweet and the purpose noble to someone with little education like him but, as he grew older, doubt began to creep in, but what prospects were there for someone who could scarcely read and write? All he knew was how to kill and he knew that they would not hesitate to do the same to him should he ever desert.

Then one day, a strange man walked into the camp, his face hidden under a dark hood. He asked to speak with their leader and was met with guffaws from some of the men but their amused and curious leader decided to grant the man's request. They spoke for a few minutes inside his tent before exiting again, the stranger following closely behind. Their commander ordered the men to line up and get in formation, their leader seemed off but like good soldiers did as they were told. The hooded man then stepped forward and began speaking of his vision of a utopia, free of discrimination, corruption, conflict. Carson had heard this sort of rhetoric before but this time seemed different, there was conviction behind the stranger's words. The other men seemed relatively unconvinced by his speech so the hooded man decided to show them why his venture could not fail. Tearing off his hood, the stranger's freakish visage was revealed. In a mix of fear and astonishment, Carson and the others could not look away. Was this creature man or demon? They were absolutely transfixed. Looking deeply into their eyes, he promised each of them greatness, a place in history, and all those who scoffed at him before were swiftly swayed.

This man, the Monyet Dukun as Carson came to know him, united a region divided by conflict, bringing peace to a land largely ignored by other nations and now sought to do the same for the rest of the world. But the same values that had torn his home apart were ingrained in every society. The only way to eliminate them from the face of the planet was to bring each and everyone of them into the fold of the Empire.

He hated that the rest of the world seemed blind to that simple truth. And that hate is what drove him forward, gave him the strength to carry on, regardless of the odds. He put his gas mask and helmet back on. They had been informed by command that reinforcements were on the way but the chances of them arriving in time to turn the tide seemed unlikely. But Black Spectre had planned for that too. Carson climbed to his feet. If all else failed, those who remained standing would shed their uniforms and join the throngs of people fleeing towards the red light district, to sow the seeds of hate and strike against the CLS whenever the opportunity presented itself. Until then, they would keep fighting for they were the world’s most invincible warriors, wielding the mightiest weapon of all. The power of hate!

Magistrati Turn 03

Praetor Darkfeather stood in the lecture hall, looking at all the new faces who had chosen to seek the arts of magick in its more pure forms. Some would return to their nations often through the Enclaves to help them grow stronger. Others would remain, converted to the cause of the greatest gathering of magic users in one place since the Academy centuries ago. He had a duty not only as a leader, but as a teacher.

"Welcome to Political Thought 101. Many of you are here because you intend to stay with us and pursue magick. Many are here to learn and return to your homelands in the hopes of profiting from the arts taught here or at least helping your people. One perhaps a bit more noble than the other, depending on cultural outlook," Darkfeather noted with a coy smile.

"The fact of the matter is, magick is dangerous. It is the most horrific power in this world because it is chaos. We take it upon ourselves to master that chaos. Make it serve a greater purpose beyond whatever celestial mechanics its serves. The same can be said of politics. Many nations show what happens when its rulers lose focus or perhaps focus too deeply on themselves. The Magistarti have has some dim periods, representing power struggles as the College system evolved," He said while gesturing as various illusory images appear of various national leaders or groups.

"Just as there is subtlety in magick, there is a fine art to dealing with other nations and governments. Diplomacy is the art of reaching an understanding and conveying a message. Just like in magic where a fireball asserts hostile intent or illusions could be trickery. Diplomacy can have more quite methods. You would call it espionage. The College of Intrigue has entire works on the ways of such workings bot open and covert. Even if this is not your desired area of interest ALL Magistrati learn of the importance of political thought. It is the foundation of most modern society and its problems," Darkfeather noted before going into deeper detail while starting to engage with the students.

New Alba
Where once was barren rock and untamed sea now lies a city, from nowhere rises a city to rival any other. New Alba was born, soon to no doubt be a hub of trade and a center of commerce to aid in the consolidation of resources that the Sunset Kingdom was working toward. This, however, was secondary to its intended purpose.
The Princess was sat in a beautiful new city hall that was finished days before, looking at drawings and designs for the future of this city, her city. This pet project of hers, this little extravagance she afforded herself was built for a singular goal, to be a city solely dedicated to crafting a great Navy. Before her, the drawings showed a new naval complex, bigger and grander then the Admiralty building in Caledon. It had beside it huge dry docks and fearfully large warehouses. A port specially built for incomprehensible volumes of shipping separate from an equally incredible port just for naval ships.
This was a city designed for the future, the future of everyone, but most importantly, the future of Sunset Ambitions. She hoped it would spark a wave of new cities built to help grow the Sunset Kingdom and allow them to stockpile all they need to survive the inescapable, unavoidable, entropic darkness to come. To save everyone.

Taming the Waves
For many years the Sunset Kingdoms powerful navy has been relying on old ships, powerful ships true. Powerful enough to threaten advanced vessels with magic and cutting edge technology to aid them, but not as powerful as they could be. The Admiralty, the Cabinet and the Queen were assembled in the Admiralty building planning the future. The future, it turns out, starts with a new ship, one that won't be cheap, but one that should show the resilience of the Crimson Navy. The Wave Class. It was the first of a series of ships being designed to bolster the Crimson Navy. While phasing out the old and soon to be mostly obsolete ships was an eventual goal, for now they had the manpower and resources to spare and so saw no reason to remove the old, effective and serviceable ships from their repertoire and were even considering repairing a few that had been rotting in various ports in the Kingdom to help with their projecting of power. The Wave class was being seen as the first of the new ships, both because it was, well, a new ship, but also because unlike most the planned designs it wasn't planned to replace any current ship but to act as a support ship to the Cloud class. The future of the Sunset Kingdom would surely be secured with such a ship many thought as the Admiralty described its ability to survive losing vital systems and its thick hull plating.

THE AUTONOMOUS COLLECTIVE OF MELKAChapter Two: The Hateful Menace

In twin powers, some will find
PROVIDENCE for all in kind

Stained Glass 1.png
For the first time in the Dark, snow began to fall.

Aleksis was bewildered. Snow? Here? Is that even allowed? The ding of the elevator brought her to her senses, and she spotted an unfamiliar figure wheeling themselves into the clearing.

The wheel-bound man was wearing a long red coat, a flannel scarf covering his mouth, and a blue winter hat with a pompom. He nodded to Aleksis before stiffly rolling down to the base of the Midnight Tree with one hand. The other lay on an armrest, and there was a small package in his lap.

"May I-" Aleksis stopped; the man was already shaking his head no. She watched, as the tenders of the tree slowly began to look up, the multitude wondering at the rising wind.

Eventually the man got to where he was going. He stopped at the base of the tree, facing it. The tenders watched him, the wind rustling their leaves and clothes. The clearing stilled.

After a few moments, a hacking cough from the man broke through the pause. Righting himself, he began, "Oh Mother of Dar-" and descending into another coughing fit. After another thirty seconds, he tried again. "Tree of Shadow," he said, in a quavering voice. "I bring a gift, for you to bless. It is - cough, cough - sacred, and powerful. But it is too strong to bear. I ask - cough, cough - you to help us carry this load, that we might prosper in th- cough - frost it calls forth."

He raises the package in his hand towards the Tree. A Grue extends a shadowy hand, gently taking it from his grip, and presses the package against the bark of the wood, its near formless shape growing a frill of downy feathers and rime coating its beak.

The figures in the clearing stay like this for several minutes, Aleksis notes, marking down the time this strange task began. Eventually she notices that she's having trouble seeing her keyboard in the gloom. A strange thing, as the Dark is, sure, pretty gloomy, but it's always allowed enough light to see by. After a few moments, she notices the light seems to be going much faster than she thought. The tree line is a blackened silhouette under sky of coal. The difference is lost. The Tenders are shadows standing between shadows, the tree is a purplish blotch in a vacant space. She stands up, noticing the bite of the cold for the first time in... a while? Who knows?

Stumbling on the ice under her seat, her hands fall into inches, feet of snow. Every step she takes for the cave behind her is blocked by more and more of it. All visual cues lost, she extends her arm through the mound of ice ahead of her, reaching, stretching for a handhold -

And in a blink, all is as it was. The Tenders tended the vines near their feet, taking samples and leaves with the delicate hand of a professional. The trees drifted lazily back and forth, stretching towards a sky that is not theirs. A pleasant wind blew from the west, carrying the aroma of... cinnamon? From her desk, she sees the man in the wheel chair making his way back towards the elevator, occasionally avoiding a saturnine puddle, chips of ice gleaming on the surface.

Hara Olstein was having a strange day.

The Titanians were an alright bunch, she had to admit, and they knew their stuff; she only had to help them pick a path through the ruins of PRIMESHIP FREEDOM a few times, and even then it was paths she'd only known from tripping over them before. Marveling at the machines they were unearthing, her charges had asked her to take a "photograph" as they'd called it.

Treacherous ground being what it is, Hara was now in the dark, kept from a long stay in the hospital by a minor incantation she'd learned on the job and her own small frame. Dusting herself off and getting her bearings, the first thing he noted was the colors. The cavern she landed in was picked out in blues, purples, and greens, the colors seeming to shift under her eyes, more vibrant near an inky black scar in her vision. A tree ought to have roots, I suppose, she thought, sitting there for a time, ignoring the calls from above.

Her tourists continued shouting for quite some time. After a few minutes, Hara shouted back "I'm alright, ju-"

And then she saw the figure in the cave with her. It hadn't moved since she'd fallen, apparently; and she'd hardly think it was alive at all were it not for it recoil slightly at the noise.

It stood a full head above her - not that big, she considered - and had a long, sloped head. Its craggy face was dominated by a large, flat nose and a wide mouth, two fangs glinted in the dim light from above under grey, impassive eyes. The rest of it was shaped like a knobby-limbed barrel, camouflaged to match the shifting stones behind it. It wore nothing, and was unadorned save for a tin can in its hand.

"Nork?" it said, in a voice made of stone. The creature suddenly threw the can towards Hara, who jumped back with a yelp. It landed a good 10 feet from her, and rolled to a stop at her feet. Hara picked it up slowly, as a brownish slurry falls out of the can. Looks like one of the others lost their rations, she thought, watching the creature watching her.

"Guys? Get a good rope," She calls up, as the creature backs up a bit more at the sound, stumbling against a stone. "And maybe a good pulley," Hara adds, taking a picture.

Norker_5e.jpg

"So... it was in the tunnels?"

"Yessir," Hara responded.

Trav Beckam tears off another chunk of the loaf of bread and tosses it to the creature. This time it catches it; it really was improving with every try.

"And how many times did it fall on the way out?" He asked, reiterating the question that was originally a joke.

"It looked like that already, si-"

"How many then?"

"Er, twelve, sir."

"Amazing. And, as you say, not another scratch on 'im."

"No, sir." Hara said, just a tad bored of this charade.

"Good. You want something, Nork?" Trav asks, as the creature nibbles at what was supposed to be his lunch.

"Nork?" It responds, apparently confused.

"Ah, well, it's a start. Welcome to the Tunnel Brigade, we won't let anything happen to ya."

Fluff

He ripped through the skies like a wild animal. The sun was at its zenith, casting scalding hot light on the sands. Thermal sensors projected that the sands were a searing 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Knowing this information was deeply intuitive, and it was as though Maytham gained entirely new senses that inexplicably worked.

Maytham and ATC ran through multiple flight drills, and everything went smoothly. It made the young pilot think of swimming. Each maneuver felt simple and natural, like doing a cartwheel would be for a seasoned gymnast. The celestial engine didn’t make any further presses on his psyche. Things seemed almost too good to be true.

Eventually, it was time to return home. He doubled back and streaked through the sky. The winds melded around his body and would have made him shudder with ecstasy if he had the ability to do so.

The lumbering gates of the air hanger slowly opened, welcoming Maytham back. He landed and soon felt the neural link cables slide out of his spine. With a flash, he was back to himself. He could hear again. The whooping of the shamans bounced off the wall and made Maytham acutely aware that he had an awful migraine. When he tried to stand up and leave the cockpit, his legs gave out and he fell down the stairs. A member of the pit crew caught him before he could hurt himself.

Shamans ran up to Maytham chanting and hollering. It annoyed him more than anything else. He wanted to be alone. With a shove, he moved through the crowd and started limping back to his barracks. He couldn’t shake an afterimage of two piercing bright lights in the corner of his eye. Medical staff quickly followed behind.
“Officer al-Tammar, you’re to report to the medbay for inspection immediately.”

Maytham begrudgingly went. Nothing seemed to be the matter, and all of his symptoms were characteristic of someone who went through the mental trauma of the first flight. They discharged him shortly. He wandered the streets trying to clear his head. The lights in the corner of his eye wasn’t improving, and sometimes he would blink and get a mental snapshot of the holding tank for his plane. It would paralyze his movements and make it feel like the walls were closing in around him.

He walked past a Peace Movement Protest and heard gunshots ringing out.

Interitus
2000 years ago...
An idea is a disease, idealized. Such a thing cannot be cured with any medicine, physical or spiritual, nor can it be detected by any test known to man. It can spread without contact across infinite distance and there is no preventative that is infallible against such an insidious virus. They may doom a society as easily as an individual. No matter how smart, how rooted in tradition, in faith, no matter how entrenched in your beliefs and ideals, a single idea inserted in just the right space within the mind can poison the hierarchy of thoughts one has built.

And Interitus was a master of poisons. They were a surgeon in their precision, an artist in their creation. They knew just where to sow their seeds where they would receive just the right nutrients they needed to grow, and with a tender hand they knew how to nurture them into fledgling concepts, and with the care and diligence of a mother, how to guide them to flower. An idea can rot not just the mind, but the body; its poison pouring out into the physical.

Interitus gazed upon The Fae and their shining cities and crafted bodies from the Realm of Elemental Chaos and gave to them an idea of bliss, and they suffered for it.

***

Mechanical bodies writhed in the streets, leaking luminescent fluid from cracks and pores in slender, once beautiful frames, now pitted and covered in rust and rot.

Layla wrapped her cloak tight around her, covering her eyes as she fumbled blindly down the street, feeling weak hands brush against her legs, hearing the hoarse whispers of the dying asking "more... please... more". She did her best not to look at them, to avoid their faces and their eyes, to mute her audio receptors so she could not hear them spread the poison. But they clogged the streets, and dragged themselves towards her. She could almost hear them scrape across the pavement, leaving bits of themselves behind as metal sloughed off like rotten flesh.

Deaf and blinded, she used her hand to guide her, brushing it up against the buildings on the street side, desperately feeling for a door. Instead, she felt a hand, which grabbed hers and before her circuits could fire and rip her free from its grasp, she was yanked sideways, hitting the ground hard, causing her cloak to fall away from her eyes.

She did not mean to open them, she meant to clench them shut with all her strength, but instead she found herself gazing up at two faded, leaking, bloodshot orbs. And she knew, and she wept.

    Confederate Security Forces
The various city states of the Book-keepers Confederacy are generally independent from The Order and from each other. Each typically maintains a small defensive force that rarely leaves their city of origin save in the infrequent skirmishes between the city-states. However should the need arise, these security forces will unite to defend the sovereignty of the Confederacy. The Order has several bases of operations and support networks within the Confederacy, and so in order for one to launch an attack against The Order in these locations, one must also launch an attack against the Confederacy.

LOG# A003

LOG OF: ICEMAUL, ELZA
POSITION: HEAD HUNTER OF THE SHIVER ABOARD THE S.S. BESSONOWI
DATE: 65 DAYS SINCE THE SINKING OF THE S.S. DAVISII

LOG START...

Turn 3 cover.png

Elza sighs, a note of exhaustion in her exhale, as the door to her new quarters slides shut behind her. They’re marginally larger than the previous quarters on the Davisii, and hold the same features. A bed, desk, chair, modest closet. The one main different being the large viewing window, that, when the blinds are open as they are now, shows her the steadily growing flora outside. It’s been intensive, exhausting work, getting the planters set up and the plants from Venir’s greenhouses in their proper places. Most of the Shiver had been brought over to help with the work, given a break from the scouring of the seabed near the Davisii to collect what they could find around the Bessonowi, and consequentially doing much of the heavy lifting.

With a heavy thud she tosses the black duffle bag in her arms onto the floor, and shuffles over towards the viewing window, body stiff and sore, idly scratching at her beard. Sitting on the edge of the bed, she examines the fruits of their work thus far. Outside, several large kelp-like plants spiral up towards the surface of the water, like supernaturally fast growing trees. Around their twisting stems, other plants have been placed, the larger flora sheltering these far more fragile plants, and providing them with a filter from the far more direct sunlight, this close to the surface. A few fish skitter past, ducking around the twisting stems, in search of food. These fish won’t eat the new plants, alien diets, and all that.

“It looks almost peaceful out there,” Elza murmurs to the empty room, then, out of habit, she glances around, and spots her abandoned luggage. “Ought to put my things away, ‘suppose.” Still, she remains glued to her perch on the edge of the bed as her gaze drifts back to the window. Some deep part of her longs to be outside, in the saltwater again, and even though she just ate, she feels her stomach growl at the sight of the fish flitting past the window. She grimaces at the sensation, finally prying herself back off the edge and shuffling back to the bag to being putting her few belongings in their proper places.

“Busy hands ain’t got no time to turn into flippers,” she quotes, remembering her mother’s words. “But that’s just the problem, hands aren’t as important as flippers now a days. Bet ye would’ve come up with some smartass way to flip that back ‘round though,” Elza frowns as she goes about the small room. All too soon the bag is empty and there’s still the gnawing, incessant pull at the edges of her thoughts every time she catches the window in the corners of her vision. With a huff, she pulls out her P.D.A. and taps to close the blinds, with far more force on the holographic button than necessary. The room darkens without the natural light, and she returns to her perch on the edge of the bed.

When the clawing sensation fails to stop after another few minutes she gets back up and resolves to pace in the small intersection of hallways outside her quarters. That particular section being filled with air, unlike the rest of the ship which was made to be flooded with water. This feeling used to instill panic when she was younger, but now it just causes annoyance and the occasional sleepless night. It’s been a few years since she got stuck and couldn’t change back on demand, but as her heavy steps echo through the empty white and gray hallways, she resolves not to take that chance here, not with all that’s happened over the past few weeks.

There were the images, of course, from Unit #1. Stills of two massive cities to the north, one familiar and sprawling, planes bringing troops into it from the other. The skyline of the massive city shifted, ever so slightly, while the probe was in the sky, some nameless building or another crumbling. If the missing Scouts were anywhere, they had to be in that familiar city. It felt, odd, to consider those images familiar. The city looked nothing like New Veritas, of course, and they had since confirmed that they were no longer on the same planet that they had been born on, but that city looked like it was a piece of their own world, moved with them by Hel’copin. Whelan had informed her that Unit #1 was to be tied up on that island for another month more, at least, and as such the Scouts had rushed out of the Bessonowi a scant few days after arriving.

Elza hardly had the chance to talk to Whelan. They had caught up briefly when Elza first arrived, and had discussed the apparent city in the waters to the south, whereupon Elza had given Whelan a trinket of her mother’s, a necklace that she never wore. Besides, Elza figured she had far better things to remember her mother by than a shiny piece of metal, and it might just keep the southern city from throwing bricks at Whelan when she shows up. The next time Elza saw her she had been rushing to get her Scouts in order, and was heading off back north. Of course, she had everyone in the Shiver to talk to, it was just nice to know she wasn’t alone in feeling a little ragged and worn thin, and being able to show it in front of anyone other than Venir.

A soft ping from her P.D.A. interrupts her thoughts, and she stops mid stride to check the message, tapping with far less force than before. The message is long winded, which doesn’t surprise her as it came from Anders, but the gist of it, as far as she can reckon, is that the two projects Heitris proposed at the last meeting finally got approved. It is with a feeling of complete fatigue that she realizes that the one will be put up here, and, naturally, she’ll end up doing all the work on that front. Figures, bastard comes up with something and makes someone else put in the hard labor nine times out of ten. Resting her shoulder against the wall, she pulls up the original plans, and notes that, at the very least, they won’t be undoing all of their hard work.

With a renewed sense of fatigue, she shoves the P.D.A. back away, and makes to return to her quarters, stopping just outside the door with a thought, the gnawing feeling at the back of her mind since forgotten. She retrieves the P.D.A. once more and sets it to record a quick voice memo, “Reminder, see if I can’t get Anders to rename these projects. It’ll drive Heitris half mad and I’ve gotta see who’ll give up first.” Satisfied, she taps the P.D.A. to the doorway, the door to her quarters sliding open once more, and she fully closes down the P.D.A. for the afternoon in an attempt to get some much needed rest, ending the log.

Ras Novas
2000 years ago...
A horned being, wrapped in dark green robes embroidered with swirling gold and silver, meandered lazily through the dilapidated city street, stepping over cracked concrete and kicking aside weather-pitted bones. The figure whistled softly to themselves, a beautiful tune like that of chirping birds, that echoed hauntingly off of empty towers of shattered glass and crumbling stone. The greenery that consumed this forgotten place writhed and wriggled as she did so, its tendrils creeping forwards, sending out feelers as it crawled up lamp posts and pillars, leaves uncurling and flowers blooming as vines grew thick around ruined office spaces. Concrete cracked and was up turned as trees forced their way through the street and wild flowers shown with vibrant colors, peeking out from cracks within the pavement.

The figure stopped their meandering at an intersection, where the husks of rotting automobiles were piled up, motionless, and climbed atop them, standing with one knee raised like a valient explorer, taking in the scene. She raised an arm, letting a porcelain white finger protrude out from under her robes. A bird, perched upon the street light above her, chirped and cooed, fluttering down to rest atop her finger. She smiled at it, admiring its small form and tufts of color. Its chirps were the only sound the perforated the silent city- until a rasping, coughing voice sputtered a cry from beyond the wreckage pile.

The sudden sound spooked the bird, which with a flap of its wings and a bleating chirp, took flight. The Fae pursed her lips and fingers gripped tightly a rifle that materialized from under her uniform. She hopped down from the top of the pile, landing and rolling on the bed of greenery that was engulfing the land in her wake. She glanced about the intersection, clockwork eyes whirring softly as they scanned the street-side husks of restaurants and shops in the infrared, looking for who dared disturb her tranquility.

She saw the hunched mass just within the abandoned floor of a former bakery, in the front corner nearest her, its heat signature weak. She cold make out its feeble form tapping inaudibly on the window, desperate for her attention.

She sulked over to it, stepping through one of the broken panes and stopping just short of walking on top of it, staring down as one would at a common beggar covered in their own filth.

"Plbmmns... hlmmnnf.. mmnss" It looked up at her with pleading eyes that flickered with the remnants of understanding, its lips moving clumsily as it tried to form words it could seem only to remember the form of.

She gazed upon the sniffling, soiled mess covered with boils and feces with unempathetic eyes. It had the shape of a man, adorned in tattered clothes. In it's hand it gripped a black, rectangular piece of metal and glass, it's front shattered beyond use. She snorted indignantly and bent down, ripping the primitive device from it's hand. It protested, muttering sounds that almost approximated words and coherent thought, as she flipped the thing over and clicked the buttons on its side. It was dead, useless.

She tossed it behind her, and the thing began to pull itself past and towards it, but she slammed her foot down atop its back just as its arm reached out for the object, pinning it to the dust covered tiles. It let out soft whimpers, that turned to pained cries as she stepped down harder. Is cries turned to screams and begs as it tried desperately to free itself. But she did not relent.

Instead, for the first time since she had seen the thing, a smile cracked her dour expression. She begun to chuckle softly as she could feel it's body begin to give way. Suddenly and without warning, she burst into a manic, distorted laughter as is bones audibly cracked and her foot began pushing through its flesh. A laugh that was not her own, half exuberant shrieks, half moans of otherworldly pleasure filled the streets as a face that was not hers, a twisting shapeless visage of multi-colored shadows dotted with too many eyes, flashed across her porcelain skin. The figure gurgled, and then went silent and limp.

What had over taken the figure left, and she blinked. She looked at the now corpse, confused, but not with remorse or empathy. She raised her rifle and fired, splitting its head. She exited the bakery and re-entered the streets, continuing her search as she began to whistle once more.

The Eternal Legion

Private.jpg
Private Andrea Bielsa

"Red, forward left 20 meters. Blue, forward right 15 meters. On Mark," the calm and controlled voice of Seargent Stonearm sounded in Andrea's earpiece, causing her to tense in anticipation. Taking a moment to go over her weapon and ensure that it was ready for action the young woman let out a shaky breath, her nerves playing up now that they were into some action. "Mark!"

Moving quickly Andrea followed her team leader, the older woman leading them against the wall that had been indicated as their next position and motioning to them to take up overwatch positions against it. Andrea jumped slightly as another body hit next to her, a glance revealing it to be Stonearm following them rather than staying with the second team as she had been. Shaking off the surprise quickly Andrea kept her eyes aimed down the street that the group was slowly clearing, tensing slightly at ever small movement she could see.

"Clear, Blue move straight 20 meters and hold at the corner on my mark. Keep your eyes peeled people, I don't like the feeling of this. Mark!" Almost as soon as he spoke Stonearm leaped over the bombed out half wall that he and Andrea had positioned themselves against and took point among the other four soldiers. The quintet moved slowly, keeping their weapons aimed at any angle that their enemy could conceivably come from as the took the corner of the street. "Clear! Red, move up and -" Whatever the Seargent was about to say was cut off as a single gunshot sounded and took the man standing next to him down in an instant, Andrea's mind providing an instant later that it was Archard. "SHIT, SNIPER. RED KEEP IN COVER! BLUE, MOVE MOVE, MOVE!"

Even as their commander spoke another shot sounded and Bren jerked, her left arm suddenly hanging useless. Ignoring the wound, Brent and the rest of Blue team rushed back towards the rest of their squad, a panicked look on the face of Kayden while Desmond kept his cool. Both Stonearm and Desmond looked back and kept their guns trained as they retreated, something that proved useful when a half a dozen of their enemies came around the corner and began firing upon the retreating group. Within moments three of the enemy were down with no further injuries inflicted to their side, Blue team joining Red in a much more fortified position.

"Brent! Sitrep!" Stonearm glanced at the woman for a moment before returning his eyes to the front, tense and waiting for more enemies to appear.

"Left arms useless, got me in the shoulder. I won't be bleeding out anytime soon though and can still shoot my pistol with the right," the woman in question gave the Seargent a smile that was more akin to a grimace, her expression not improved by the 'blood' that had splattered along her face.

"That will have to do, I don't trust that we aren't surrounded," Stonearm finally turned from the street, Desmond quickly replacing him with a small nod. "Right then, as it stands we have one and a half casualties and have no idea how many of these bastards are in the area, nor do we know how many snipers are around. This is a pretty shit situation no matter how you look at it, so we need to move carefully. I want none of you in the open for more than a few moments if you can help it, thats just a quick way to get you killed. Brent, you're with me for now, I don't trust leaving you alone with that injury. Swiftrest, take command of Shelby and Prescott till we get out of here. Bielsa, Home, when we move I want you two to grab Royal's body and take it with use to the next set of cover, I have a feeling we are going to need his gear."

Andrea nodded at the command, a sick feeling in her stomach at the thought of having to grab her now dead friend. Shaking it off quickly she eyed the rest of the group as the trio of more experienced soldiers began to plan their next movements. Desmond looked fine, calm as he always was it was no shock, but Kayden and Anoapo both looked like they were about to panic, and Celistino didn't look much better honestly. Andrea herself knew that she probably didn't look much better, Archard was probably one of her best friends and now he was gone in an instant. As the commander's conversation drew to a close she shook herself from her thoughts and started paying attention to them, ready to hear the plan.

"Right, on my mark we move. You know your jobs so just follow me as we move," Stonearm shifted slightly, adjusting his gear in preparation to their move. "Everyone ready? Move!"

Andrea leaped over the small wall in front of her and joined the rest of the group in charging towards the fallen Archard, ducking as she felt a shot go right over her head. Ignoring the sounds of return fire around her she grabbed one of his arms and watched as Celestino grabbed the other, the duo quickly dragging him up and moving with the rest of their squad as they kept going. Andrea flinched as she felt a shot graze her body armor but kept going, stepping over fallen bodies the entire time.

"Storefront right! Take cover!" The storefront that the stout dwarf had pointed out was a wreck, just barely being held together by a few bricks. It would have to do though, Desmond was starting to limp as they moved and she could see blood flowing down Brent's arm. Even as she followed into the building, she suddenly felt the full weight of Archard's body weigh down her shoulder and heard Celistino shout in pain. Gritting her teeth, Andrea reached around Archard's body and grabbed the other woman's body armor, dragging both the limp bodies in with her. "Shit! Celestino, you still alive?"

"Hit my plates, I'll live but it hurts like hell!" Celestino pushed herself back to her feet, wincing the entire way. "Thanks for the save Andrea, I would have been a goner."

Andrea nodded to her friend, leaning against the wall and panting at the amount of exertion that it had taken to carry two people even if just for a brief moment. Grimacing she twisted her shoulder and pushed off the wall after a few moments, taking stock of how the rest of the group was faring. Desmond looked to have taken a graze to the leg and was in the process of patching it up, while Brent's arm looked far worse than she had said it was. They also looked to be starting to run fairly low on ammo, something that didn't bode well for getting out of here.

"Bielsa, how's the shoulder?" Andrea jumped slightly as Swiftrest walked up to her, the elf the only one of the group who still looked calm.

"Sore, but not enough to keep me out of the fight, sir!" Andrea smiled at him, even if it was more akin to a grimace.

"Good, we are going to ne-" Whatever he was about to say was cut off as a flash of light covered the entire group, the sound of a boom following closely. When her vision cleared Andrea started groaning, the entire group was scattered and their helmets were all flashing, indicating they were out. Pulling her own holographic helmet off she sighed, they had failed their training mission.

"Gamma Squad! You made it approximately halfway through the mission before being defeated! Cause of defeat was a grenade thrown by the 'insurgents' you were fighting!" First Seargent Sunset almost seemed to enjoy the residual pain that they were in, the actual flash having been the only thing to physically affect them. "This is above standard for the amount of training and with the level of equipment which you were given, something that has almost impressed me! I expect you to improve upon this performance! Dismissed!"

Lord Commissar Relio stood amongst the other commissars with basecamp now more than just tents outside of the vault they could finally clear out the stasis pods to be replaced with the grim utilitarian office space of a commissarial block house. that would house them for now. looking over everything the old lord sighed happily. "finally everything running smoothly" he'd say with a chirpy hum. meanwhile one of the mech operators scurried up to the lord commissar giving him a salute. "we've found an unmarked chamber it connected to the goliath chassis bays the chassis themselves have rusted to a state of disuse we will need to refurbish them with excess resources but for now the unknown chamber requires our attention" the mech operator chirped

"hmm very well show me this chamber" the commissar nodded, and being led to the strange vault door with an unfamiliar design, as gecklickos worked slowly on the carving it open but some sorta field stopped them from opening it properly. "as you can see we will need to gather some heavy duty equipment..." the pilot explains.

"very well i shall inform the others for now gather whats needed we shall open this door and see what it contains"

BoN Act 3: Modern Age

War continues to escalate between the CLS and the Empire of Hate as the CLS sends for help from the Northern Galmorean Empire, an aging empire of Mechanical Knights of the Round. Securing their assistance, troops are sent to the south and might just be enough to dislodge the Empire of Hate from the very bowels of the evil corporation.

The IU and the ETO continue to gather allies to their sides in an effort to control world blocks for having greater sway on the many markets and avenues of their own ventures to be had.

Meanwhile, the Forgotten have initiated a Space Race with their Space Center, eager to grow towards the stars. Will anyone join them in the race, or will it merely be a one man race to the finish line with bountiful possibilities.

Only time will tell if or when these two giants will come into conflict with each other, or if there will be conflicts of interest at the world of large.

It had been a successful meeting with the Galmorion Empire. The CLS agreed to become their vassal in exchange for a 5% tithe every month for assistance and protection from the Empire of Hate. One of their Knight Squadrons of House Voltaire was immediately dispatched and was able to participate in the second wave of combat, against the reinforcements from the Empire of Hate.

The Spy has been embedded in the Empire of Hate, but has thus far been unable to do anything else other than blend in. +1 Bonus to next espionage action.

The battle rages on for another month. Here are the results of the units that are remaining:

CLS-
AST( 1 HP left)
Mobile Knight Transport (1 HP left)
Knight

EoH-
Sj-110
Scouts

(Critical Fail- Lose 1 unit)- The AST group that was still currently defending the city with 1 HP had taken a bad dose of adrenal boosters, suffering heart attacks as soon as the present fight ended. Their hearts were unable to slow down after the battle

The bank accounts seem just a little lighter than normal. (Espionage a success against this nation) Lose 10 Resources

EVENT:

The streets of the city have been filled with chaos due to all the fighting, but it seems that the criminal element has become all the stronger during the fighting. This could present an opportunity for the CLS to benefit. They could attempt to crack down on this new more powerful criminal presence or by making deals, they could use them to make life harder on the Empire of Hate instead.

The new settlement that was close to New Yong was called Staging Cove. Its name clearly bellied its purpose as more than just another settlement for growth, but one that was going to harness the surrounding areas to further build and grow, to conquer this continent and prove once and for all that these people, those of the Bloodbrood Swarm were the dominant creatures in these lands.

While constructing such a place, a new growth was discovered, one that was larger than the entire squad of Slaughter Seekers put together. It was a large funganoid creature that the group managed to tame through a series of acts of violence and the occasional stick and carrot routines.

It was theirs to command.

Event:

While constructing Staging Cove, ancient ruins of an old settlement were found. Inside is a powerful looking ancient machine with weathered yellows and a sickingly green glow that beckons them forward with a feminine voice.

“Ah yes, you all seek to be strong, do you not? I can make you stronger by far than you’ve ever dreamed possible if you devote yourselves to me. You will be able to make all others submit to your commands, crush your enemies and hear them lament their follies. What say you?”

Do they submit to the mysterious woman? Or do you resist?

Prophetic Prism- Only reduces Espionage in the city it is located, not all cities

Research Projects- Laboratory’s small bonus ability will be a +10 flat resource generated a turn to its project (So it will slowly research itself if left alone) Will not stack with added civilians

Project Alpha- No to Resources gained passively

Project Beta- Gain a settlement slot in a SINGLE chosen city each time it is completed, but there can only be +1 slot in a given city each time this is taken

Project Charlie- Revised Version (Thumbs up)

Dimensional Engine- Too many bonuses for one ability

Quest Chain- A Tribe of Goblins are upset at the hostile nature of the CSRA. They wish to take action against them, but are currently far too weak. They need help.

“They are small, but strong in numbers.”- Unknown historian

Quest 1: Donate 100 Resources to assist in their training.

EVENT:

The other members of Nomicus’s “people” have arrived. They seem to be made up of various shapes and sizes, looking like objects or animals. Hundreds of them have arrived to find their new home on the word of Nomicus.

However, a horde of angry and armed citizens of Fafrium have followed those of Nomicus and they are unhappy. They demand that these imitations be turned over to them as they have committed many crimes.

Do you turn them over to the Fafrium Armed Citizens? Or Shelter Nomicus’s “people”?

A new settlement begins construction to further the strength and power of the World Tree. They would need to grow if they were to compete with other nations of the world and be a boon to their new allies rather than a detriment to the protection of the world at large.

While construction had commenced, another old hidden supply cache was discovered. It was another such bountiful loot.

Through help with the Great Tree, they managed to construct the Wyrwood, a new ground troop that could help them to protect their home from any possible invaders. It would perform well in that task once they had them in appropriate numbers to fight back.

Bountiful Loot- Gain 27 Resources

EVENT: A forest Spirit emerges from the deep wood. It is willing to part with ancient magical secrets in exchange for something precious and irreplaceable. (Discord)

The policy of City Builders has come to fruition, a difficulty task, but one that could help with the rebuilding of the nation at large, even if it keeps the engineers quite busy.

The Space Race has begun for this nation. They wish to be the first nation to grow with their Space Center. It’s possibilities are endless as is the growth and hope that it can bring the people. And the people of the Forgotten need that hope considering the decade that they had spent in the dark and cramped spaces.

But considering their recent history, they are most likely the best nation suited for such long, cramped voyages in space as this type.

The Ordo Hereticus has now been constructed and initiated for spycraft should it be needed against other nations. With the new borders that were initiated to the world, it is an important preemptive subject to combat espionage or conduct their own.

During construction, the engineers discovered an old supply cache within the city, a Bountiful Loot- Gain 11 Resources

EVENT: Humanoid Mutations have been discovered living in the sewers of the city. They are survivors of the war that had been unable to get into the bunkers to safety, but survived and were ever changed for it. They wish to rejoin society, but their appearance is physically revolting to many.

Backup Dancers soon enough become ready for adding to the wonderful party time that is New Yong. The world Tour that is soon to be imminent is only brought down by the fact that some of the violent nation from the Southern Fleshlands, the Bloodbrood Swarm have been moving North and constructed a settlement across the lake.

Is it that they wish to bring greater tides of joy? Or as their nature has suggested, is it merely a growing tide of war against the peaceful musical nation?

The Broadcast Tower will help allow electronic trade for the country to flourish, which causes great joy to the people.

The Dancer Troop participated in a fatal practice for the upcoming World Tour and suffered a Critical Fail- Lose 1 unit- 1 Dancer Unit dies.

EVENT: A new religion seems to have popped up that is an antithesis to everything that New Yong believes in. This religion believes that THE SONG is to be the ultimate expression of music and that it will bring peace to the world in a way that other forms of expression simply cannot.

Another successful build of a diplomatic Enclave, another great boon for the Magistrati. At present, their plan to spread their enclaves around the world has been a benefit to many people around the world which in turn has helped give them more and more benefits. And as long as they could continue to grow those allies, the more that they would help assist them all.

The Foundry would help any of their infantry, constructing armor for them to inhabit to better defend their floating home.

The spy has been a able to infiltrate the nation of the Empire of Hate, but only so much as to ingratiate themselves into the realm. They will have a greater chance of success on the next turn now.

While the Bonded were at ground level, a ground fissure opened up and swallowed them whole before closing up. By the time the others were able to move the ground enough, all they found was the uninhabited armor pieces. Critical Fail- Lose 1 Bonded

EVENT: The mage students wish to throw a festival in order to improve morale around the Capital. It’ll cost about 50 Resources, but they assure the Council that it’ll be worth it. With the loss of a squadron of Bonded, they feel that the people need reminders of the happiness that they are trying to bring to other nations of the world.

The settlement of New Alba has been finished to the delight of the people. It was to be a grand place, one that would help push them forward and be the tip of the spear towards the other nations that will soon enough grovel at their feet.

The Wave Class ship was a marvel of engineering, one that was far improved from other classes of ship that had come out before. It was the beginning of a grand turn of their nation, one that would hopefully see them turning the tables on their former captors and taking other nations under their protective wings.

In all the celebrations and moving about of supplies, their was once again another Logistical Error- No gain, but the stack gets -1/-1 until the end of the turn. Perhaps one day, that would not be the case and the logistics of the nation would hopefully be vastly improved to the ecstatic nature of the troops.

EVENT: An ancient ruin has been discovered under the water off the coast of the new settlement. It looks as though it is a sunken castle and might have treasures that could be plundered. (Discord)

The cave crawler would certainly be an asset in the days to come to defend their home from any that would wish to do it ill. Their home was becoming a much better place since they began interacting with other nations around the world and out from their own personal bubble of darkness.

The capital has finally grown and become stronger and even more welcoming to those whom wish to exist within the darkness, both those native to it and the outsiders that come to study and learn.

The Shrine of the Skeletal Hand seems to have pacified the Skeletal Hand. All Melka units seem to have an easier time moving in the created snow. As long as the Skeletal Hand remains in the Shrine, all Melka units are now immune to the effects of Winter.

Army 1 suffers a Logistical Error- No gain, but the stack gets -1/-1 until the end of the turn

The Capital grows more and more, allowing the people even more room to expand and grow. There seemed to be no end in sight for the levels of prosperity that this nation could soon enough possess.

Many more were beginning to enlist in the military with the growing power of the alliances of the ETO.

EVENT: Many citizens have decided to enlist in the military due to a surge in patriotism, even those who are not necessarily fit for service.

The Peace Movement continues to grow, expanding more from the fringe group that it became due to the lack of government crack down. Their voices began to be heard among the world. The collaboration continues with the Underwater Research Center. Currently, there is nothing that can be deemed usable in the research that has been released. But soon enough, it’ll come to fruition.

The Capital has begun further upgrades in order to help their standing in the world and better bring their own forces to bear in protection of their other members. It is their lot in life to help and protect. This is how they show it. ALong with the development of their new and improved security force that can help defend their very home.

The Capital has been upgraded. An important event for a mercenary group as now there is more area to train, for beds, for vehicles, etc. Soon enough, their forces will rival any army in the world and they will be hired in the many wars that are sure to erupt from within the powderkeg that is the various continents and nations that lay within.
