blood is thicker than water
Vampires have existed among us for thousands of years. In some civilizations, their existence was known and often detested or vilified, later written off as being the monsters of myths and folklore. In others, they went unnoticed, living on the outskirts of civilization, or sometimes blending in so well with it that the humans they lived beside never knew that they weren't breaking bread with their own kind. By the year 2020, there are thousands of vampires across the globe, with the majority of them aligning themselves under one of three major clans, all of which have multiple sub-clan chapters scattered across the world. Between the Lucinius clan, the Ventari clan, and the Abarra clan, order has remained in the vampire world for centuries.

The Lucinius clan is known for being the 'leading' clan in the vampire world. Their word has always seemed to be final in the global scale of governing the vampire word, and their members tend to be poised, well-spoken, and respected in the vampire and human world alike. They're the clan that truly believes that vampires and humans can coexist, and they pride themselves in being moral and just.

The Ventari clan is a strong force to be reckoned with as well, though they've always flown under the radar more than the Lucinius clan has. They may not hold as much power in government or council as Lucinius does, and they may not be as keen on human society either, but there's no denying that they've paved their own way in the world financially. While they live lavishly, that's really the only thing they flaunt. They tend to be the clan that's hardest to read, and often have to act as the bridge between the two other clans, taking one side here, and the other side in another conflict. They're the 'swing state' of the vampire world, if you will, and they're well aware of the power that comes with that, too.

The Abarra clan is the headache that no one ordered, but they're here to stay, whether the Lucinius clan likes it or not. They break as many rules in human society as they do in the vampire world, and they couldn't care less. They're often seen as uncivilized or classless, but to them, life is more fun that way.

For centuries, the world existed this way, and things were fine. Humans remained unaware of the existence of vampires outside of folklore and nightmares, and vampires continued to run their own society unbeknownst to the majority species. The vampires coexisted peacefully with the humans, but more importantly, they coexisted peacefully with their fellow vampires. That may just be all about to change, as the leader of the Lucinius clan's New York chapter (and the leader of their clan as a whole on the global scale) has been mysteriously murdered. With fingers being pointed, the threat of a war hits too close to comfort for some.

Rules

  • This roleplay will require 350+ words per post, so please only express interest if you're capable of writing at least that many words coherently.
  • I want the roleplay to have a good flow, so there will be a posting requirement of at least 2x per week. Life comes first, I get that, but if you know that this isn't realistic for you, please don't waste our time.
  • Because people always take it too far and godmod, the vampires in this story won't have any ~unique~ supernatural abilities. They will all have super speed, super strength, super agility, super durability, super senses, and will be immortal (with a few select ways that they can be killed).
  • Additionally, in this story, all vampires will be "turned" and will not be able to reproduce.
  • Lastly, this roleplay is going to be a strong mix of realism and fantasy. The story is set in modern day New York, and the whole point of the story is that vampires have managed to coexist with humans and live under the radar for centuries. While I'm all for quirkiness, your character must be able to believably exist within this world without being an undeniable target for suspicion.
  • Lastly, each clan in our story will probably have ~10-20 members each (though many will be NPCs). They're "chapters" of the clans as a whole, and would have other chapters in other cities and countries where other vampires from their overarching clan reside.
  • I don't have set roles, but we will need leaders for all 3 clans, so feel free to express interest in that if you have any.
  • Interested? Great! Let me know below which clan you would be interested in writing for.
