Haru Rivers

Full-time DM
Try and keep powers limited. The more powerful an ability is the more I expect it to be focused and specific and to some extent I expect limitations or drawbacks to come along with it. Put what you'd like initially and if we need to dial it back some then we can work out how to do so.

Most people should be recent additions to the Idris state, I will accept a select few people to have been around a bit longer though.

Name:

Age:

Personality:

Appearance: (Description or Picture)

Ability:

Weapon of Choice: (Power is acceptable, traditional weapons. Custom weapons can be included if they make sense)

Bio: (Should be pretty standard, most people live the same life. Include amount of time at Idris State.)

~~~~~
My Rules are fairly simple because most people know what to do already.
  1. Follow RPN rules
  2. No godmode, people live, people die, and people get hurt.
  3. Contact me if you think something draws the line. I'm willing to work with people for fun and creative solutions to problems or ideas for a plot point. These things are cooperative storytelling, so don't feel shy to cooperate!
Name: Iblic Toruk
Age: 22
Personality: Strong willed and patient. Excellent leadership in the field. Through hard work he's broken the mold society pushed on him and became independent. Quiet more often than not, but not afraid to speak his mind when necessary.
Appearance: Iblic once looked the natural white of the rest of the world. He tanned for the express purpose of distancing himself from the norm. His dark skin stands out now, but he doesn't mind, as he leaves reconnaissance to others. His black hair has grown out a lot now, so much so he has to tie it back. His work with metal in the field has led him to be more physically fit and athletic than he ever thought possible of himself. On missions he wears a cloak he helped engineer, one specialized with active camo to help blend in with all types of surroundings. It is white when not activated.
Ability: Metal manipulation
Weapon of Choice: Traditional DMR. Modified for use with his power. He is capable of helping adjust the spin and movement of the bullet in order to ensure greater accuracy over longer distances.
Specialized Wrist Line Launcher. Launches 3 lines instead of one, has advanced weapon applications
Keeps a large amount of carbon steel around his torso as both armoring as a weapon. Raw metal is a useful tool to Iblic and when hidden under his clothes can be deadly when used by surprise.
Bio: Iblic has spent the last year and a half with the Idris State. From his time as a recruit to now there have been many losses and many victories. Viktor was his squad commander when he entered. He worked hard to help out where he could, finding use even off the battlefield as an R&D assistant. He modified his own line launcher to be used as more than just transport. A few months ago Viktor died in battle and Iblic was selected to take his place as squad commander. It is only now that his squad is being put together.
serge-birault-rose3.jpgName: Ambrosia (Amber) Dryce
Age: 21
Personality: The best way to describe Ambrosia eventually boils down to calculated and hostile. A perfectionist at heart, her hardworking nature has often caused her to over-exert herself to the point where she ends up shutting down for a few days in order to recover. Despite the seemingly calm way she carries herself, she's always been easily angered resulting in a certain passive-aggressiveness that always ends up doing more harm than good. This doesn't mean she's incapable of feeling loyalty or protectiveness towards someone but these feelings are normally expressed through reprimands. After all, if she didn't care she wouldn't be bothered. At least that's her justification.
Appearance: Amber blends in perfectly well into the background of J18 and she's always preferred it that way, thinking it's only one of the many advantages she has, especially when stealth is required. Once upon a time, she used to have longer hair but she quickly got rid of it once she joined the Idris state, now valuing practicality over aesthetics. Her height is around 5'8 and she weighs 105 pounds.
Ability: None.
Weapon of Choice: Specialized Wrist Line Launcher which helps throw her knives while also allowing her to retrieve them if these didn't pierce her victim's body too deeply, though while in use it renders her unable to transport herself using the SWLL.
Bio: From the first introduction, Ambrosia never really liked her sister's boyfriend. Maybe it was because of his appearance which made him look careless or maybe it was the ideas he spouted at the dinner table. He was one of those people and his ideas had seemingly begun to rub off on Amber's sister. Ambrosia tried to persuade her sister out of it. What good would come from opposing the government? Needless to say, they had endless fights about it and instead of fixing anything, they just seemed to cause more of a rupture in their relationship to the point where they stopped speaking altogether.
It was a few months after their last talk that Amber received news of her dead sister. The details were unknown but at this point, there was only one cause. Amber was enraged. Furious at the senseless death of her sister. She shut everyone out and kept to herself for a while, before finding one last message from her sister. Maybe from the start she knew she could lose her life or maybe she thought she'd find this once her old age had gotten the better of her or maybe she'd wanted her sister to finally know about the powers she had been hiding. Regardless, in that letter Ambrosia finally realized what her sister had fallen in love with wasn't her rebel boyfriend, but what he stood for. Something that she had eventually managed to make her own. It was a hard truth to swallow but Amber knew she wanted to fight for the thing her sister had valued more than her own life. So she finished whatever business she had pending in J18 and disappeared one night to look for someone who could get her inside the Idris state.
While nothing about her screamed extrordinary, Ambrosia pushed herself to keep up with her gifted comrades. It was frustrating and she often thought about dropping everything and returning to her comfortable life but this wasn't even about her sister anymore. She couldn't care less for titles however she does strive for perfection, both in herself and in others.
In her three years at the Idris state, she had come to appreciate those who had a fire to fight back. She wouldn't be caught dead saying it, but she's gotten fairly close to some of the people from the Idris state, to the point where she might consider them family. And now she's here to make sure she'll never have to suffer another death in her family.
Weapons WIP, just wanted to get the personality and bio out there to help fill roles. Also made her one of the older members (I think?) but I can change that in case it doesn't fit.
Name:
Jay Giordano
Age:
18
Personality:
However many professional and responsible the people at the Idris state may be, Jay is the counter to all that. He's never been one to take things too seriously and believes that even in their dark circumstances people should keep finding things worth smiling for. Because honestly, how much different are they from the goverment if they're just as depressive? This kind of mentality can cause him to have trouble concentrating on missions, especially when he's unsupervised. Combine that with his not knowing how to use his powers and you've got a pretty loose canon. Despite not meaning any harm his teasing nature can often get himself or others into more trouble than he's worth.
Appearance:
In J18 or any other major cities for that matter Jay could have very well be the standout for his dark complexion. Though not particularly fit, especially not for a young 18 year old, the years of hiding and traveling through the shadows has left him with more strength in his legs than his arms. His frame, however, remains lean.
tumblr_pdde9cz95G1qe0t3jo1_1280.png
Ability:
Energy wave emission
This basically allows him to release waves, pulse and blasts of energy that can harm, push or detect an ememy. Though, for now he can only use his powers as a forceful push due to his underdeveloped skills. One application of his power that has proven to be useful, involves him being able to project his voice in a considerable distance.
Weapon of Choice:
Standard Specialized Wrist Line Launcher. Not to be trusted with any other weapons. For now, at least.
Bio:
Years later, Jay came as a result of that day. Growing up as a secret unknown to any of the major cities was miserable. There weren't too many people who had escaped the government, but together they'd managed to form a little group. With the group already being small, there weren't many people Jay's age which often left him wandering alone, abiding by the rules in place to keep out of the government's radar.
For the first few years of Jay's life, his parents always worried of him dying young due to a family inherited heart disease. It was one of the many disadvantages of abandoning the cities. However, soon enough their worries were diminished once they came to know of a geneticist who was practicing gene therapy on children who weren't fit to recive genetic therapy for one reason or another. Jay became one of the children to recive this treatment before the geneticist seemingly vanished into thin air. What people weren't aware of was that this therapy was prone to inducing enhanced abilities.
It wasn't until he was sixteen that he discovered his powers.
It was just another normal day when he was scavenging for any of these pre-modern day artifacts he'd heard rumors about. So far, nothing useful nor interesting. He was just about to give up and go back home when he heard people speaking, more like shouting direct orders. At the time he didn't know it, but Jay had just found members of the I.D.F. escorting a group of people, maybe prisoners. It was one of the few times genuine panic invaded him and as a result of that, he didn't even think about helping the group and just fled. In his hurry to get away as fast as possible, he somehow managed to tap into his powers and release a small energy pulse that caused him to be thrown back and blackout from the hit. It happened all too fast for him to comprehend but when he awoke he was in the exact same spot. He eventually managed to return to his group, but now he knew something strange was going on, he simply hadn't attributed that strangeness to himself.
As the weeks passed the feeling of realization dawned on him. He was, of course, more than ecstatic to charge right back into the city, thinking he alone could probably take out anyone who'd opposed him. Had his parents let him try such a foolish task he'd surely be dead. Thankfully, after learning of his powers they managed to contact someone from the Idris state, the mythical location only herd in whispers that came from other survivors. They'd had something of a reputation for teaching people how to control their powers and hopefully, they were up for the challenge of mentoring Jay.
    [The Lieutenant] - Lin Arai
    ★★★★★★
    Overview
    Appearance: 5'7, 150lbs, lean, muscular physique, toned and trained to military standards. Long dark hair and brown eyes. Neutral, tactical, practical clothing in varying tones of tan and brown. 26 yo.
    Personality: Calm, collected, measured, and level-headed. Lin never acts or reacts without first analyzing the situation and deciding on the optimal course of action. Unwavering, steadfast and resolute, she's dedicated to protecting her sister, to her squad leader, and to her cause.
    Likes: Guns, training, Peri, and noodles
    Dislikes: Weakness, incompetence, and broccoli
    Hopes: To accomplish the goals of the Idris State
    Fears: Failure, and losing her sister
    Background
    Place of Birth: J18
    Family: Eliana and Fuji Arai (parents- deceased), Peritia Arai (sister)
    Enemies: The IDF - They destroy families and they steal lives, and as long as there's a breath left in her body she won't let them get away with it.
    History: Lin grew up in a typical J18 family. Her parents were both artistically inclined, and encouraged their two daughters along this path. Lin took to the piano at an early age, and by the time she turned 10 was playing at every major recital and even participating in orchestra concerts.
    Her sister, Peri, was a dance prodigy. She joined the national ballet academy at age 11 and was able to keep up with the rigorous training and the rest of the far more experienced dancers- she even got to perform a solo in the school's yearly recital. Lin and her parents were there in the audience that night, cheering her on, and it was the happiest night of Peri's life.
    But then it turned into the worst as, on the drive home, their vehicle was hit side-on by a large truck that had run out of control, and both of their parents were killed in the crash. Lin survived by crouching down and protecting all vital areas of her body while Peri, using what seemed like nearly superhuman grace and speed, leapt free from the car as the accident happened.
    From that point on, everything changed. Lin gave up the piano and took a job with the military to provide for her sister. Peri continued to go to school, channeling her shock and sadness and rage into her dancing.
    One night, on an occasion when Lin was actually home and Peri was practicing her choreography in the living room, there was a knock on the door. It was the IDF, and they were there for Peri. Naturally, Lin refused to let her sister leave alone with these men, and as she was a high-enough ranking military officer, they allowed her to come along. Once at the IDF building, they explained how Peri had a very special ability, and how it could be used to help defend from internal and external threats.
    Against her better judgment, Lin allowed them to begin training and testing her sister, making her stronger and faster and more skilled, but also pushing her past her boundaries. After nearly two months of this, Peri broke down one day and declared that she wanted to go home. The IDF, however, made it clear that that was not an option. They continued to push Peri beyond what she could cope with, despite increasingly vocal protests from Lin, whom they eventually stopped allowing to see her sister altogether.
    At that point, Lin realized that they were never going to let Peri go, and that the only way to get her out was to plan an escape. Luckily, she had enough connections to get in touch with the Idris State, so she tracked them down and, when she found them, implored them to help her free her sister. Viktor agreed and lead a team in with her to do just that. After breaking out, Lin and Peri started to live in the I.S. compound, training and living out their lives as best they could.
    Lin committed herself wholeheartedly to the cause, joining Viktor's squad and eventually becoming his second in command. When Viktor died, Iblic was the clear choice to take over from him, and since he's become squad leader Lin is now his second in command. She believes in Iblic, will follow his lead and would lay down her life for him. The only thing that matters more to her than her leader and their cause is, as always, her sister.
    Other
    Abilities: None- Lin is a regular human.
    Skills: Marksmanship - She can shoot just about anything at any range.
    Hand-to-hand combat - She's trained in just about every martial art the Idris State offers instruction in, plus a couple more.
    Leadership - She has extensive tactical and combat experience, combined with a certain natural gift for authority.
    Weapon of Choice: Lin is proficient with most firearms and explosives, as well as with the two wrist launchers she wears.
    Relationships: Peritia Arai: She joined the Idris State to keep Peri out of danger, and will protect her with everything she has.
    Iblic Toruk: She feels a little ambivalent about having him as her leader, given Viktor's death and his relative trauma and inexperience.
    Aurora Lenotte: She respects and values Aurora's training and skills, as well as her honesty and no-nonsense attitude.
    Marco Tobias Cain: She appreciates Toby's attitude and skill.
    Xen Rylias: She's reserving judgment for now.
    Quote: "For Peri, for Viktor, and for the Idris State."
10257514_359616964198300_38758647597908232_o.jpgName: Aurora Lenotte
Age: 26
Personality: Aurora has always been a person that goes by the books. She doesn't appreciate rash and unplanned decisions. Short tempered and quick-lipped when speaking to others and may have a desire for manners in that area. But that's where her long time friend, Nicholas, comes in. He was the Yang to her Yin and they were nicked named as such. Nick was kind hearted and empathetic and seemed to be the only one that could instantly calm his sister down in any situation.
But with the death of him and his squad along with the Idris leader Aurora was now out of control. Prone to fits, outburst, and sudden snappy remarks. She verbally blamed the one person to make it back, Iblic. But she didn't really blame him. Most of the Idris State knew that her anger fits were just a coverup for the despire she felt. Aurora didn't mask her emotions in the barricks as she silently sobbed or the distant and lost look she often held when her mind wandered.
When Aurora finally started acting normal, for lack of a better word, people were relieved. Aurora was determined to become a reliable medic and healer in the field so that important people didn't have to die. Or at least not on her watch.
10458978_332040980289232_4039152382461485607_o.jpg
Appearance: Aurora's hair is brunette with a white streak. She says the purpose is to easily spot her in the field if she was needed. Her dark red eyes glow a crimson color when her power is active.
Ability: Healing Touch; Aurora's ability normally takes a great amount of stamina to use. Healing someone on a molecular level is quite difficult and a power like hers is considered a very rare and powerful asset. Her power also comes with the ability to give her an X-ray-like vision, hence the glowing red eyes. But the eye enhancement ability is greatly limited to a small range and a small amount that she can see. It's more to add to her healing ability so that she can pinpoint the injury and heal more accurately or perform surgery without the need for so many tools that just happen to be hard for the Idris State to come by at the moment.
Weapon of Choice: Normally small firearms like SMGs and pistols that way she can move around on the field with more ease. She's meant to Rear Security and treat injuries while providing cover fire, not be on the front line, charging.
10697276_342630265896970_5146214764553324877_o.jpgBio: Aurora was always a hot head. But at the same time she always did well at what she wanted to so people learned to cope with her behavior. Not to mention her father was the head of the hospital in her city. She was put on a specialized curriculum that focused on medicine and biology. Rumors spread that it was the I.D.F. that were steering her education path. But then again the I.D.F. were pretty much blamed for everything that happened. Aurora didn't care. All she wanted was to be more than an average citizen living out their life in grayscale, same thing day in and day out with hardly any contribution to society besides serving customers at some restaurant or retail store.
It was around her teenage years when she met Nicholas who was only a year older but in the same core education classes. At first she disliked him. He seemed like a polar opposite of herself. But that also included his persistence. Aurora always sat alone, well known for her disrespectful attitude at this point, among the students. Nicholas was the type of person that wanted to be everyone's friend and despite all of her attempts to send the young man scurrying back where he came from, he would just try again.
Then before anyone knew it, they just clicked--more like Aurora finally gave up trying to push Nick away. He then became like sort of conscience for the girl. He taught her how to better interact with people and be, somewhat, kinder while she helped him with his studies. It wasn't even a year later when Nick suddenly disappeared. "Another victim of the I.D.F." people would say. Without Nicholas there Aurora quickly resorted back to her shell of isolation and anger but this time worse. Nick's disappearance clearly had an affect on Aurora and her outbursts and fits of rage got worse. Fights 26850494_875462869280371_302257886212560017_o.jpgeven broke out if anyone even so much as mentioned Nick in front of her.
She continued her life in a stupor until she graduated from secondary school. Now that she was away from a place that constantly reminded her of someone she lost Aurora could focus on what lay ahead, again. Aurora continued on the medical field as the path of her choosing since it was familiar and she hardly had any experience with anything else. More determined than ever to get a footing in the medical field Aurora found she could accelerate healing at a much more rapid pace than normal. And soon she was getting through anatomy and biology demonstrations with intense accuracy.
"It's like you can see what's going on inside their skin." Someone mentioned.
"But...I think I can." Aurora replied with an unsure voice. Before she thought she was just picturing the muscles and blood vessels in her head. But maybe it really was her, peering underneath an organism's exterior. Not even a full forty-eight hours after her realization Aurora was picked up by a special escort vehicle. Much to her surprise an older Nicholas greeted her inside. The young woman never felt so many mixed emotions. Fear, anger, sadness, relief, and many others trying to fight their way to a dominant position to properly express itself through her. But then she was just happy. Happy to see her old friend still alive.
10633341_338397889653541_2469296701710835395_o.jpgIt was then that he told her of Idris State and what the organization stood for. He spoke with such dedication and fierceness that Aurora believed everything he said. Not just because it was her better half that was finally back and immediately resuming his role as her conscience but because he confirmed theories Aurora had of her own. And she trusted Nick's judgement even more so than herself.
It was then she was taken to Idris State HQ and met Viktor who seemed much like her old friend. He told her about what the I.D.F. was and what they did. He also promised to teach her how to hone her gift and utilize it to its full potential. She was someone Idris State greatly needed with their small numbers. After all, in times of war there would always be the injured, sick, and dying. And medics were always short staffed.
Aurora spent the later couple of years being the happiest she’d ever been. No pressure on her shoulder to fit into society. No worry about not being good enough to measure up to her father. And she had people she could trust and the best friend she could ever ask for.
But just as suddenly her whole world came crashing down. Viktor’s squad was almost completely wiped out, save for one man. Nick was part of that squad and Iblic only managed to come back with Viktor’s remains while all of the other squadmates were left for dead. Aurora didn’t hate anyone more than Iblic in the next few days than she had in her whole life. Not only had she lost Nicholas but also Viktor. Both of them being people that she looked to as a source of inspiration. They had saved her life, in a sense. But even with Nicholas dead she could feel him giving her the advice she needed. Him dying wasn’t the end. Quite the contrary. It was a beginning. Iblic being selected as the new Captain and Aurora being chosen to be a part of his team was a sign.
Name: Xen Rylias
Age: 21
Personality: An easygoing guy who's rather laid-back, but tends to have a one-track mind when it comes to his goals. Underneath his friendly exterior is a level-headed, rational individual. Not one for the limelight, he shies away from the responsibility of leadership and any kind of public speaking. Xen values his friends more than he cares to admit.
Appearance:
1571993486773.png
Ability: Telepathy
Weapon of Choice: His power. Xen is capable of offensively using his telepathy to convey an overwhelming feeling of pain to his target's mind to incapacitate them in a fight or pour a jumbled mess of words and pictures into their mind to make them unable to think properly as well as other things along those lines. The drawback of using his power offensively is that his stamina depletes quickly and if he overuses it, he will fall unconscious.
A modified powerful sniper rifle that allows for quick reloading speeds and can transform into a sub-machine gun for close range combat.
Bio: Xen is one of the newer additions to the Idris State, having been recruited no more than a month ago. Before, his life had been simple, consisting of working his ass off as a bartender to pay off his student loans and unsuccessfully trying to figure out what he was going to do with his life now that he had graduated from college. All that ended when he came home one night, tired from work, and found the door unlocked. Inside, sitting on his sofa was a man he had never seen in his life, but the patient expression on the stranger's face kept him from becoming outright hostile. Within ten minutes, Xen learned the stranger's name was Iblic, was enlightened about his circumstances as a genetically modified human experiment, was informed about the I.D.F. and how they were most likely going to be knocking on his door soon, and introduced to the Idris State's cause.
All at once, the migraine hit him; it was so much to absorb in such a short time span. Still, listening to Iblic's words, he felt something he hadn't felt before, a calling. Thus, he agreed to join the Idris State and was promptly thrown into training.
One day she had been having an argument with her older brother, at first things where fine but as things escalated she began to get angry and before she knew it, the bookshelf in her living room had fallen onto her brother the weight killing him instantly. She didn't tell her parents what had happened as she didn't understand what had happened either. As guilt started to build up it became hard for her to stay at her house and she left without a word to her parents. She had moved from town to town soon finding herself in Idris State. She decided to settle there and has been living there for the pass few months
Name: Marco Tobias Cain, Toby to most
Age: 19
Personality:
Being deaf means that Toby tends to observe people, rather than speak to them. He can speak normally, lip read and use fluent sign language. He pays attention to the smallest details, as they can prove crucial. He appears watchful, sometimes brooding. He chooses his words carefully when he does speak.
He is tolerant of others difficulties and tries his best to help. The one thing he cannot stand is being treated differently as he is deaf. He doesn't see why being deaf should make him any different to anybody else.
He is determined, and pushes himself, always trying to prove to himself that, yes, he is just as good as everybody else. He is the kind of person who will practice for hours just to master a new skill.
He's adaptable, changing as best he can to whatever life throws at him. He knows its a case of either adapt or die.
Appearance:
Eyes: Golden
Skin: Tanned
Build: swimmer or gymnast
Defining features: golden eyes, roughly circular scars over the knuckles of his left hand
Clothing: plain hoodie and trousers, t-shirt, lumberjack style shirt tied around his waist, custom high combat boots with dagger holsters on the inner side, and a gun holster on the left boot. The soles also have concealed blades that pop out
Abilities:
He can curve anything he throws so that it goes wherever he wishes it to. But as soon as it hits something and sticks, he cannot pull it back using his powers
He can breathe underwater, somehow filtering the oxygen from the water, but he can only do this for a maximum of two hours continuously.
Weapons of Choice:
Blades over guns, always
Throwing knives and daggers are his top weapons, after that come swords, and at a push arrows. His daggers and blades are his own, he either stole them, or forged them when at Idris state.
He always has a pistol strapped to the side of his boot, which he never uses. He's never explained why he has it.
Hearing aids: he's deaf
Bio: Marco wasn't born deaf. His family weren't poor, but they weren't well off either. His mother worked as a secretary and his father worked at the ports. Both worked overtime when the money was needed, so Marco and his older sister raised themselves a lot of time. Life was normal for them, they attended school, studying hard, hoping that they could one day have a better life. Meanwhile in the evenings after homework his parents taught him and his sister basic survival skills and fighting skills, claiming it was to protect them from the dangers of the city.
But then things went sideways. His parents took him out of school one day and told him to run. That they had been discovered. His parents told him that they had been working for Idris State on the side, but somebody had betrayed him. They gave him a bag with supplies, weapons and money, before telling him to run.
He had just left the house when the bomb went off. 15 year Marco was only knocked unconscious. When he came around he couldn't hear a thing and would find out later that both his eardrums had been broken.
Luckily a homeless girl named Zara saw the explosion and rescued him from the rubble before the police arrived. She patched him up as best she could. He lived on the streets for another three years, learning how to stay under the radar, how to fight, how to steal, how to lip read and how to use sign. He started using his middle name- Toby- instead of Marco.
A year and a half ago he became of rumours about Idris state and managed to track them down. They took him on board, but Zara refused to go. He hasn't seen her since they parted ways. He works forging bladed weapons in Idris State.
