BEFORE THE MEDIUM - STARBEE

> Name: Emma Carrier

That's you all right. You are currently in your room checking your laptop in your room in your lovely New England home. You are kinda planning on playing a game with a few friends, acquaintance and strangers, but before you do any of that, you notice that you've been invited to a memo.

> Examine room.

You take a look around your room as you wait for the others. You have a few posters your mom has hunted down for you. They display your interests in various video games, though recently you've had a bit of an obsession with Splatoon. But everyone probably knows that. You do enjoy other games too, though, You also have a mild interest in writing and fanfiction, though you aren't always good at it. You live here with your Mom and your pet cat, Allie.

> Inspect Splatoon Poster

Oh yes. You don't remember how you felt when this game first came out, but something about this game's style really appeals to you. It's just so colorful for a shooter and you love that. The squid theme probably also helps. You've gotten fairly good at this game too, you think. This poster in particular was one of many cool gifts from your Mom.

Maybe you could play a quick game while you're waiting for the others.

> Play Splatoon

You're waiting anyways, so you might as well have a bit of fun whioe your friends go through some shenanigans. You boot up your Wii U and jump into the game. You manage to get a pretty Toasty vibe with your .52 Gal Deco before you even notice the chat moving without you. Eh, you're still waiting, right?

> Check on Game Discs

You stop playing for now and check to make sure you still have your game discs. It would be embarassing if you misplaced them after telling everyone you got your copy first. They should be sitting right where you left them. That is, they are on your desk next to your laptop. Your mother is rather proactive when it comes to giving you your mail.

Might as well. You install the first game disc into your laptop, but you don't launch it quite yet.

While you're here, you might as well check the memo.

Without noticing, A medium bundle of strings appears behind Emily.

You turn around to see the bundle of strings. The !! person said you need to take one of these to your Mom, but you're not sure why. You captchalogue the bundle of strings in the Lime Green (6) card of your Mood-Ringlet Modus inventory deck.

You also captchalogue your phone for now, which takes the slot of the strings in your 12 card deck and pushes them down into the Moderate Green (7) card.

You open your door to leave your room, but sitting in the hallway just outside your door is your gray fuzzball of a pet, Alli.

You step over the cat. You don't exactly have time for her at the moment. Alli still sneaks into your room. You make your way down the hallway and into the main room. Your mom seems to be going through today's mail.

"Um, hey mom," you start.

She looks up at you but doesn't say much. Geez, how are you supposed to explain to her that you have to randomly give her this string? Your mood ring rises to yellow

>Relax. You got this.

You breathe. Your mood ring goes back to green.

You take out the bundle from the green card and pull out a string.

"Here, could you hold on to this for me?"

She takes the string you hand to her, and smiles, almost as if she knows what it's for.

>Awkwardly walk back to run

(You can also command Avery too)

You quickly head back to your room.

Geez. You're kind of used to her being cryptic, but it's felt like 10 times worse lately.

Though following the advice of a cryptic stranger does not help that feeling. You try to calm down before your mood ring fluctuates again.

Your cat Alli seems to have gotten on top of your bed, and the memo has been moving while you were gone.

You look at the cursor. Huh.

Your cat notices it too, and immediately leaps for it. Silly Alli, that's just another gaming abstraction.

The mouse moves sporadically, as a giant tube thing is dropped into your room.

"Welp."

You check out the pipe thing. There seems to be some kind of wheel thing on the side, but you can't seem to move it. What the heck are you supposed to do here?

It is about this time that you notice the lid on the top.

Though, you should probably get your cat out of the way before something else happens. You pick up your cat and shoo it away from the cursor.

After setting your cat down away from the tube thingy, you take out one of your throwing knives and pick at the lid until you get it to budge off.

What? Your mom took away your water pistol.

Anyways, you manage to get the lid off. An orange seizure ball pops out and floats in your room at a respectable distance. You see some orange cylinders in the tube.

And now there's a timer ticking down at the base of the tube.

Oh. That's ominous.

You run around nearly freaking out for a moment before realizing this probably isnt the best way to deal with this. You grab Alli because you want to save her and-

Wait. It sounds like the orange blob thing is trying to say something, but you can't quite understand it.
