  • Gotham City, located on the eastern coast of the United States, is a hive of scum and villainy like no other in the entire country, and maybe the entire world. It's almost as if though there was an entity - a spirit of the city - and one that feeds on darkness and despair, that infected it with malignant, tangible evil.

    Twenty-seven years ago, this evil was destined to give birth to yet another tragedy. When a small-time criminal, Joe Chill walked into an alleyway at the right time, he stumbled upon Gotham city's wealthiest family. Overtaken by greed, he killed the parents of the eight-year-old Bruce Wayne and fled the scene, leaving the boy alone and tormented.

    Most, in the boy's place, would waver and be consumed by the evil of the city and join its madness; become a brutal, inhuman catalyst of more tragedies in a never-ending cycle. But through willpower and perseverance, he endured the darkness and rather than let it take him, he took its reins and used it for good.

    Who is he, you ask? He is Gotham's protector and guardian. By night, her defender. By day, her first citizen.

    He's the Caped Crusader, the Dark Knight, the World's Greatest Detective. He is the Batman.

Personality: Pamela was originally a thoughtful, methodical and stable personality until the experiments done on her completely altered her biochemistry. Suffering from severe, violent mood swings for years, Poison Ivy has a history of being tremendously seductive or tremendously aggressive in getting what she wants. In the past several years, either her condition has stabilized or she's grown more accustomed to it; while still inclined to moods, Poison Ivy is a far better thinker and planner than she's traditionally been. At her core, she remains tremendously concerned about the environment, hostile to people who threaten it and believes the ends justifies the means.

Backstory:
Doctor Pamela Lillian Isley grew up in Seattle; daughter to wealthy yet distant parents. In college, she specialized in botany and toxicology and was a very promising, but naive, student. Her professor, Doctor Jason Woodrue, later known as the Floronic Man, seduced her, hoping to persuade her into becoming a human test subject for his experiments. These experiments, according to Isley, were torturous. Twice, she was nearly killed, and ended up in the hospital for six months. Woodrue fled the authorities, while Isley was left with a changed physiology. Unfortunately, the results of these experiments also also left her barren, and she has treated her plants as her children ever since.

Poison Ivy has had a long, storied career in Gotham. She's used mind control, poison and toxins, spores, direct plant manipulation and even bombs and explosives to bring ruin to those ruining the Earth. She's also had a much less publicized role as a rehabilitator of contaminated lands, a preserver of endangered species and a proponent of disarming nuclear weapons as well as destroying biological and chemical warfare agents, including helping heroes trying to stop villains with those ambitions. Poison Ivy has enjoyed an armistice of sorts with the Bat Family on at least two occasions (though not presently) and it's probable she can be prevailed upon by the righteous and the wicked alike, assuming their interests align...

Appearance
: A beautiful full-figured redhead. Her skin can have a greenish tint, varying from imperceptible to impossible to hide depending on how hungry she is. Her clothing is a combination of leaves, vines, and other plant materials and it's typically revealing, to better entice her prey.
Gadgets, Weapons & Items: Nothing she typically carries. Poison Ivy is perfectly capable of securing any given item, vehicle or quantity of money through pheromones and mind control on an as-needed basis.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Botany: Doctor Isley was a renowned scientist with a career in Gotham City. She's always had a fascination with plants and they have been the major direction in her life even after her accident. Her knowledge of botany allows her to better manipulate her plants.
    • Toxicology: Her specialization in Botany was Toxicology, at first she used her knowledge for perfumes, make-up and medicine. After her accident, she used her knowledge to grow thorny plants and poisonous traps for her enemies.
  • Seduction: Pamela Isley has always been a beautiful woman but she never used her looks or talents for personal gain until she became Poison Ivy. She taunts her trapped opponents with their human desires and can even infatuate thugs to her cause through her plants or her own means.
  • Hand-to-Hand Combat (Basic): Her athletic abilities have grown over the course of her career. She has learned a limited style of martial arts fighting, is proficient at climbing and leaping, and is a strong and fast swimmer.
Superpowers & Special Abilities:
  • Chlorokinesis: Semi-mystical connection to the plant world through a force called the Green. She was able to manipulate and animate plants, using roots to form supports for a tunnel. She controlled an entire tree to come down on Clayface, ensnaring him in its branches. She once brought a whole skyscraper down with giant vines.
    • Pheromone Control: Ivy is known to be able to seduce men and women alike, often using pheromones to do so, but even without the pheromones, her beauty is still an asset that can she can use to seduce.
  • Toxikinesis: A deliberate overdose of plant and animal based toxins into her blood stream that make her touch deadly. Ivy can create the most potently powerful floral toxins in Gotham City. Often these are secreted from her lips and administered via a kiss. They come in a number of varieties, from mind controlling drugs to instantly fatal necrotics. Her skin is toxic as well, although contact with it is usually not fatal.
    • Toxic Immunity: Immunity to all toxins, bacteria, and viruses.
    • Skin Pigment Manipulation: By reducing the intensity of her poison, she can give herself a normal skin tone, allowing her to move around in public without being recognized.
Weaknesses:
  • Vulnerability to Darkness: Poison Ivy requires substantial amounts of solar energy to live.
  • Mental Instability: Poison Ivy has been committed to Arkham Asylum on a regular basis. She speaks to her plants, finds extreme rage towards males and at a certain point sought out the destruction of the human race so only she and her plants would live. In the past several years, the intensity of these mood swings has diminished but she still tends to be emotional volatile and, if sufficiently provoked, may act against her own best interests.
  • Batman: Indifferent to most of humanity, Poison Ivy remains strongly fixated on the first man who defeated her. Even she isn't certain if she's genuinely attracted to the Bat or if it's obsession. As such, she routinely avoids taking opportunities to kill him, instead trying to win him over to her side.
  • Harley Quinn: A long-time friend and companion, Poison Ivy is very fond of the other woman. She may put on a facade of disinterest around others but a skilled observer can likely note and take advantage of her compassion for Harley.

Personality: The easiest way to describe Barbara Gordon would be vengeful, intelligent, and supportive. Inspired by her tragedy, the heroine seeks to uplift others to make up for what she can't do. She is the first on the line to help when there is a problem and is always willing to stick it through the end. When it comes to the gallery villains, such as the Joker, Barbara can grow passionate, but she can mostly be relied upon to be level-headed and consistent. She is hyper-intelligent, which allows her to serve effectively as the brains behind many of the operations heroes in the city fight through.
Backgroround: After her mother abandoned her as a child, Barbara Gordon grew up seeing her father, Commissioner Gordon, as the penultimate hero. He stayed around in Gotham, of all placed, fighting crime and putting bad guys away. There was no one who could top him. At least until Batman.

The caped crusader was a breath of fresh air. He pulled no punches and delivered a powerful message, without saying much at all. The reign of crime bosses and crazed alysum escapees would end...but it never really did. As amazing as he was, Batman could never topple Gotham crime, so Barbara took up the mantle of Batgirl to help him out. At first they butt heads quite a bit, but eventually he accepted the inevitable -- the commissioner's daughter was a cornerstone of the bat family. That made it all the more tragic when the Joker left Barbara disabled and unable to fulfill her responsibilities.

Enter Oracle. A new and improved identity, as Oracle, Barbara gives intel to the bat family from the safety of behind her computer, though she does keep weapons handy for safety. She may not be out in the field, but she still fights crime.

Personality: Dick is a sanguine personality type meaning he's talkative, cocky, easily bored, very hot-tempered at times. Unlike his mentor he does not brood on his parent's deaths but moved past them. Dick has a sense of humor which is ironic because of everything he's been through. A strong leader with a personable demeanor he can keep a group together and is thought of the glue that ties the many groups and leagues together. Truthfully Dick would rather not lead but when he is asked he usually does a good job of it. When it comes to those he sees as family and friends, Dick will defend them without hesitation, especially his 'brother' Tim.
Backstory: Dick Grayson was a twelve-year old circus, and the youngest of a family act, "the Flying Graysons." He was trained his whole life in acrobatics. While on tour, Dick overheard Tony Zucco, a well-known crime lord threaten performers over paid extortion money, to which the owner refused. It was that night, that during the Graysons' performance, the high wire holding up his parents snapped, and his parents hurtled to their deaths. Dick continued to blame himself over the hunch of Zucco committing the crime. He'd go on to be placed in a Catholic orphanage, though one of the elite in the nose bleeds of his Flying Graysons performance, Bruce Wayne adopted him swiftly.

Frustrated by the lack of attention his adoptive father showed earlier, Dick used his alone time to sneak out and investigate the murders of his parents, that were primarily dismissed as a freak accident. One of the night's out, Dick had investigated one of Zucco's associates, and upon following the lead, was beaten by who he'd bee tailing. Fortunately, Batman had intervened, and it was that night that he awoke in the Bat cave, and it was revealed Bruce Wayne as the Batman. Bruce offered to help find, and bring the man that'd killed his family to justice, though Zucco was found dead of a heart attack shortly before his arrest. Ultimately, Dick was given the offer by Bruce who saw his own reflection in Dick, to join him as his partner in crime-fighting. Dick accepted, and thus began his super-hero career as Robin, the Boy Wonder.

Over five years in the job as Robin, having formed the Teen Titans, battled villains, and gained respect from the Justice League, at age 19, Robin was shot in the shoulder by the Joker, and immediately had his side kick career ended by the Batman in just a couple words from Bruce. Dick was distraught, and moved out of Wayne Manor to attend university elsewhere, but dropped out shortly after joining. He sought out advice from Clark Kent, and was explained the story of the Kryptonian, Nightwing. "Long ago on Krypton, a man was cast out by his family - just as Dick had been. He dreamed of a world ruled by justice, and set out to protect the helpless of Krypton. His true identity was never revealed. He was known only as Nightwing."

Inspired by this, Dick donned a modified version of his father's original Flying Graysons jumpsuit, fitted for the super hero life. As he began his night-life as Nightwing, Dick figured a change, and moved to Bludhaven at age 21. It wasn't long that he'd be sought out by his replacement, Tim Drake, and this was when he was first informed of Batman's new partner. No call, no text, just coincidentally sought out by his replacement for a mission. Reluctantly, Bruce aided the new Dynamic Duo but has since had a strained relationship with Bruce Wayne, and inadvertently a dislike for Tim Drake.

Dick is an Earthling adult male of normal height. He has jet black hair that is usually moderately short in length with slightly longer bangs, and cobalt blue eyes. Charming looks along with a smile to match, he can easily get people to warm up to and open up to him. Dick has a gymnast's build, a strong upper body and good strength in his legs. Though not overly bulky he is much stronger than he appears to be. This is sometimes hidden by the good jackets and T-shirts he seems to have a knack for wearing.

When out of uniform, Dick usually wears normal clothes, though comfortable looking ;Jackets, jeans, t-shirts, boots and sneakers.

His super hero uniform is a skin fitting black and blue outfit that covers everything except his head. On the front and back, there is a large blue “ V” shape that runs down his arms and comes to a point at the middle of his torso . His uniform also includes two gauntlets and a pair of modified boots, which he stashes his supplies in due to a lack of an utility belt.
Gadgets, Weapons & Items:

Nightwing Suit: As Nightwing, Richard Grayson's costume is tailored specifically to his unique style of crime-fighting. It is made up of sturdy but flexible material that not only suits his strength, speed, and acrobatics but also is durable enough to withstand gunfire. His costume has a stylized blue "wing" across his shoulders and extending to his hands, coloring his two middle fingers, over a black torso and legs. He also has gauntlets much like the Bat suit. He also has variants of his costume with different design elements. His suit houses various hidden compartments for his gadgetry such as smoke pellets, fire extinguishing pellets, wing-dings, and small bombs. The fingertips of the suit also enable him to use lockpicks and a needle which can give chemical analysis.
  • Nightwing's Domino Mask: As Nightwing, Dick's domino mask is shaped just like his wing-dings. It has various capabilities such as being able to track the GPS coordinates of a cellphone, thermal vision, detect radio waves, and is capable of giving detailed analysis of scenes and fights.
  • Nightwing's Gauntlets: Hidden within secret compartments lies Nightwing's gadgetry, in which a great majority seems to be hidden. He has various gadgetry in his gauntlets such as binoculars and they are occasionally used to store his Escrima Sticks. His gauntlets can also shoot remote bombs, a sonic device with his ear dampeners, and a grapple line.
  • Electric Shock: Dick's entire suit is wired to deliver a 150-thousand-volt shock through the gloves of the suit, however it only has enough power for a one-time charge.
  • EMP Mask: A highly advanced mask created by Lucius Fox, the mask is made of webbing that retracts light surrounding the wearer's head and artificially alters the appearance of someone's face.

  • Acrobatics: Richard Grayson was an acrobatic prodigy as a child, being part of the Flying Graysons act who were well known for conducting incredible acrobatic feats without the use of a net.

  • Firearms: Dick is an expert marksman and is highly skilled in the use of firearms.
  • Genius Level Intellect: Richard Grayson is shown to have a naturally high level of intelligence, though not as high as Batman's. He was also trained by the Dark Knight himself in various fields.
    • Tactical Analysis: Dick is a capable tactician, having been taught by Batman. In addition, he is skilled in reading the body motions of others, allowing him to defeat multiple armed opponents and anticipate an opponent's next move.
    • Disguise: Taught by Alfred Pennyworth in acting, Grayson is proficient in the art of disguise. He is able to occasionally pose as Batman whenever Bruce Wayne and Batman need to be sighted at the same time.

Personality: For the longest time after being brought back to life, Jason was extremely angry, at Bruce, at the world, at himself. At this point, in his life, Jason is doing his best to retain a stable, calm demeanor, and mend and build healthy relationships. Even so, Jason can still have a temper, and he's never one to hold back on a sarcastic remark. At a distance, he can seem much colder than he truly is thanks to a general distrust of people. Once he's decided to trust someone, however, Jason is fiercely loyal and not likely to allow harm to come to that someone.
Backstory: Jason was born to two drug addicts in severe debt who thought that they could trade him for debt forgiveness. When that plan didn't work, they raised him only begrudgingly in a neglectful if not abusive household. When he was only ten, Jason was shown how to shoplift for food, and by age thirteen, Jason's parents were murdered over their debts, leaving him to wander the streets of Gotham.

In a chance encounter, Jason crossed paths with Batman as he pursued the Joker. Fascinated, Jason followed, but only to a point, and, while Batman seemed to take notice of him, Jason soon forgot about it. To his surprise, only a few weeks later, he was tracked down by one Bruce Wayne who offered to take him under his wing and pay for him to go to a boarding school. Jason wasn't about to say no. Again to his surprise, several months into his schooling, Batman showed up at his window to offer him the moniker of Robin. Once more, Jason wasn't about to say no.

Jason was a quick study, learning the methods of Batman under Bruce and training hard to be as effective a Robin as Dick Grayson before him. He was, however, impulsive and aggressive, a trait that ultimately led to his premature demise at the hand of Joker. As Bruce mourned, though, Ra's al Ghul took it upon himself to place Jason's body in his Lazarus Pit, resurrecting a confused Jason who only grew angry at the sight of Batman with a new Robin. Jason was tearing himself to pieces on the inside and it came out as a brief, but savage war on his former mentor.

As he grows older and matures, Jason has left that part of his life behind and is doing the best he can to piece his life back together. He works with Batman again now, but on his own terms and limits. Indeed, Jason is still trying to figure out his own terms and where he stands as a person.

Gadgets, Weapons & Items: Jason's preferred weapons are a pair of twin automatic pistols. He carries a combat knife with him for close quarters situations. When out fighting crime, he'll wear body armor underneath his Red Hood and associated attire.
Skills & Abilities: Jason trained under Batman and thus has a wide range of acrobatic and combat skills to his name. He's as fit and strong as someone his age is going to get. While not as good at detective work as his mentor or other Robins, Jason has solid deductive skills.
Superpowers & Special Abilities: None, unless you count being resurrected in the Lazarus Pit. Jason thinks he's more immune to disease after coming out of there, but that may or may not be accurate.
Weaknesses: While Jason has grown out of some of his emotional instability, he's still often uncertain about himself and can be too impulsive for his own good. He's slow to trust and even slower to accept help unless absolutely necessary. She likes to help when she can, but if the option is save those she loves or save the world she will choose her loved ones, and this is why she doesn't want to be labeled a hero anymore because heroes are supposed to choose the world. She can be sarcastic, and flirty, but it's all a part of her charm. She outgoing and doesn't mind being in the limelight. She's also quick to put someone in their place if the over-step their boundaries, or are insulting towards her.
Backstory:
She meets Bruce Wayne at an early age due to her father preforming at his birthday shortly after the death of his parents, but are separated shortly after due to life. Her father eventually disappears which causes her to search for him and reunited her with him eventually, and others like Nick Necros and Constantine. Along the way she sometimes helps him and Constantine with things. Eventually shortly after finally finding her father, because of Constantine (or so she believes) she witnesses his death.

She then starts working with the justice league for a while but after a sour incident with Mr. Light she leaves. She focuses more on her career as a stage magical and becomes wildly famous for it. Despite after some time gaining the trust of her former comrades again she never re-joins the league. Instead from time to time she agreed she would be willing to help with any supernatural type problems facing the world. Though to be honest as long as Bruce is the one asking she will usually help however she can.

It is easy to say her life revolves around a love she knows she likely will lose should nora wake but still if nora can live Victiria would do anything. Still this all leads to Victoria to be a rather lonely person and vulnerable to certain temptations.
Backstory: When Victoria was young she grew an interest in freezing things namely plants and animals to try to preserve them for the future, this rightfully worried her parents. Seeking to correct this Victoria was sent to a strict boarding school where she had issues fitting in and became a bit of a loner. Still she aced all the work they gave her easily she also made a few discoveries at this school. The biggest as her love for a girl she met there named Nora, given the time period this was not exactly something approved of and had to be kept secret.

The two would leave the boarding school and enter college where Victoria excelled devouring any and all information and showing her true intelligence. Victoria graduated with several doctorates in different fields in the time it normally takes for someone to gain one. Nora did not do as well as already some unknown illness was starting to affect her, still both would graduate and get hired by a company that would one day become Gothcorp. The job was not given just because of Victoria's mind (nora was her assistant at the time) but the CEO wanting her. Victoria would fight off his advances for a time more concerned with Nora who was growing more and more ill, Victoria tried her best but she could not cure her thus she against company orders and using company supplies built her first cryo chamber. The CEO would learn of this and one day confronted Victoria attempting to blackmail her, this didn't go to plan Victoria explained Nora was her lover and the CEO didn't take that well. The two fought with Victoria getting stabbed and pushed into the many chemicals she had been using. The room filled with cold white mist and the CEO fled thinking it was deadly.

Victoria would not die instead she changed her life saved by a sudden mutation in her genes a long dormant part of her awakening thanks to the chemical changes. By the time the CEO returned The equipment was destroyed and the women gone, the incident was buried and forgotten. Victoria would take Nora home just barely making it down into their homes special lab where she quickly worked on a second cryo chamber and then worked on healing her own wound and maintaining the chamber while she also built her cryo suit. This would eat up many years where Victoria rarely left home only doing so to scavenge for supplies. This could only last so long and in time Victoria would have to emerge and get more specialized equipment and diamonds to help power her technology.
Thus Dr Freeze would come into the spotlight and clash with the batman rarely as she is not greedy or motivated for global change but only seeks to save Nora.

When she is the spectre she tends to have to fight the spirit for full control as she will hold back way to much thanks to what remains of her childish innocence towards violence and death. Still there are those times when the two align and the full power of the spectre is reborn often accompanied by Larua herself being enraged at something. Given how heroes failed to save her or her parents Laura does not like them not wanted to associate with them and perhaps on some level not wanting to associate herself with who she was preferring to stay in spectre form over her real one around others unless she is for once doing what the spirit wants.
Backstory:
Born in Gotham Laura was perhaps on the lucky side as while Gotham isn't the best place to live her family seemed to manage to avoid all the crazy that happened enough to give Laura what could be called a normal childhood. There is little in the years of her life that would reveal what she would become and none would know that perhaps eyes far above were watching the child. What is important is what happened on her 10th birthday, where a scene familiar to some played out. A mother a father and their child cut through an ally to make to to a movie on time. The streets are safer these days with the batman and his family running about stopping crime, but they can't stop every crime, they can't be everywhere. The happy family unaware that history will soon repeat itself walk down the ally where a man, a criminal holds out a gun his hand shaking clearly this is his first crime. The criminal demands the family hand over their valuables, but the father a proud man wouldn't tolerate such a threat to his family. The criminal scared fires the gun right into the father, then again on accident. Laura and her mother scream out and the criminal looks at them shocked not having wanted to actually kill anyone but before he can explain the gun goes off again right into the mother who he had accidentally pointed it at. All during the there was no batman, no robin , no help coming leaving Laura alone with the freshly made killer now scared beyond reason all he can think of is the girl will know who he is he can't let her go. Thus the criminal took aim finally meaning to kill someone and pulled the trigger. The shot was not instantly fatal so Laura lived a few more moments just long enough to see batman the hero, to late to save anyone.

When Laura awoke she was not in any afterlife even though the pain was gone, she wasn't in a hospital, or the ally she was nowhere. It was form this nowhere, this empty plane that a voice came to her with an offer. The presence as it called itself was in need of help and Laura was just the right person, it offered her the power to take vengeance upon the one that had cruelly ended her life, but she would carry vengeance itself with her and she was to guide i, make it know right from wrong. Laura agreed to this deal bot fully understanding it but willing at least and thus was she bonded to the Spectre becoming it's host and moral compass. Still she was a child and she was naive and thus she did not know how to command the spirit or how to truly work with it leading the pair now one to schism weakening the vengeance of god to a shadow of what it was.

Though, despite her psychotic behavior, she is capable of developing and executing elaborate plans. She rarely does so, however, worried that any attempt to do something ‘big’ (ie. capturing batman again) would upset the Joker.
Backstory: Harleen Quinzel was originally a model student who managed to snag a psychiatric intern position at Arkham Asylum. It was there she became infatuated with one of the patients and ambitiously volunteered to analyze him. After several sessions, he managed to seduce her, making her fall madly in love with him, and convinced her to help him escape several times.

Authorities began to catch on eventually and revoked Harley Quinnzel’s license. She then ran off to join The Joker, becoming his sidekick and establishing a complex, abusive relationship with him. Despite Harley clearly being able to see the faults in her relationship with him, she keeps it to herself as the Joker managed to manipulate her into thinking every problem was her own fault.

Throughout her years of being a criminal, she has helped the bat family several times but betrayed them several times, showing where her true loyalties lie.

Backstory:
Jonathan Crane seemed to have started off all wrong, and was a fairly obvious candidate for becoming a criminal. He was raised by his fanatically religious and abusive grandmother, whom he murdered as a teenager. During his childhood and adolescence, Jonathan Crane is obsessed with fear and revenge due to constant bullying, especially because of his resemblance to Ichabod Crane (legend of sleepy hallow). He is humiliated by school bully Bo Griggs and rejected by cheerleader Sherry Squires, so he takes revenge during the senior prom by donning his trademark scarecrow costume and brandishing a gun in the school parking lot; in the ensuing chaos, Griggs gets into a car accident, paralyzing himself and killing Squires.

Crane's obsession with fear leads him to become a psychologist, taking a position at Arkham Asylum and performing fear-inducing experiments on his patients. He is also a professor of psychology at Gotham University, specializing in the study of phobias. He loses his job after he fires a gun inside a packed classroom, accidentally wounding a student; he takes revenge by killing the professors responsible for his termination, and becomes a career criminal.

Scarecrow seems to be one of the more deranged criminals with a habit of speaking in nursery rhymes. Eventually, through his fascination with fears and fobias, he developed a fear gas that caused victims to see their greatest fears. As long as he wears his gas mask fashioned like a scarecrow mask, he is fine and can operate through the gas. Recently, he has developed a new dosage of this fear gas, one that makes him much more dangerous.

Oswald Cobblepot successfully manages to keep his public and private profile separated. Publicly, he is somewhat of a celebrity (not as Bruce Wayne, though), enjoying a fair amount of media attention an d publicity. His work is well known and he regularly gives interviews and is a frequent guest on television shows. He is described as a open-minded, warmhearted person, funny and witty and very successful in practically everything he does. And that is truly the way he works... publicly. On the other hand, privately, Oswald is more of an introvert, preferring to keep to himself and his own thoughts. He likes quiet environments and avoids larger groups, keeping in touch with a few selected acquaintances and colleagues. He likes reading, playing the piano and just enjoying the peace of his own mind temple, without outside interference.

As far as the Penguin goes, as Oswald Cobblepot's criminal alter ego, he is more similar to his introverted, private side than to his public profile. Intelligent, diligent and overly practical, the Penguin is known only by his alias and by a brutal reputation that follows him in the criminal underworld. But, he tends to be fair, rewarding hard work, but extremely cold and ruthless when faced with failure. His identity remains unknown to anyone inside the organization, but the control he has over its members is exceptional. He values loyalty more than any other trait and knows how to reward it. A Solomon-like figure, the Penguin is known as an enigmatic leader, an unknown force certainly to be reckoned with, but as a fair judge of his underlings' work, rewarding when necessary and merciless when required. It is said that it is better not to know his true identity, stemming from the gossip that the only ones who've had the pleasure of meeting him - are dead.


Backstory:
Born in Gotham City to wealthy parents, Oswald Cobblepot was raised in prosperity and could never say that he had missed something during his upbringing. He was the older of the Cobblepot twins, his brother Simon being just three minutes younger than him. Although close, Oswald and Simon never seemed to establish a truly brotherly bond, viewing each other more as friends, than siblings. When Simon died of complications caused by Huntington's chorea, aged seven, Oswald never fully comprehended that he had lost a brother and not a friend, which is why he was able to recover, emotionally at least, quite fast, finding new friends among Gotham's young elite. His parents, on the other hand, had severe problems coping with the death of their younger son and their psychic state deteriorated over the years, leaving Oswald more and more isolated and left to care for himself. He managed to complete his education in Gotham's finest schools and was finally sent to Europe to complete his law studies in the United Kingdom, France and, eventually, Switzerland, where he also obtained his PhD. While he was in Europe, his parents died, leaving him as the only heir to a vast family fortune. After traveling around Europe for a year, Oswald finally returned to Gotham, where he took over his family affairs and became a businessman and one of Gotham's most wealthy benefactors. His main business is centered around the clubs and casinos owned by the Cobblepot family, the main one being a luxury club in downtown Gotham, called The Iceberg Lounge. He also owns a luxurious, 5-star hotel, Gotham North, also located in downtown Gotham. Still, Oswald Cobblepot donates large amounts of many to Gotham City, to charity, especially for medical research; he was one of the main benefactors during the renovation process of Elliot Memorial Hospital, where a wing has been named in the honor of his family. Very popular with Gothamites, Oswald Cobblepot manages to keep a clean appearance, thus hiding some of his more dubious affairs.

Not much is known about the mysterious Penguin Organization; even its sole existence is a mere tale, never confirmed by anyone but the gossiping and unreliable criminals and the bodies showing up around Gotham - but that is hardly alarming, is it? Named after it's mysterious leader, the organization currently rules Gotham's Underworld, controlling the gangs and the illegal flow of money. Represented only by a silhouette of a king penguin, the Penguin Organization is certainly a foe to be reckoned with.

There are a lot of gray areas when dealing with Gotham, with Her people and Jim Gordon had to learn that the tough way, evolving from an idealistic young detective to a commissioner who knows what justice means in Gotham. He is not, by any means, scared to bend the rules as long as it servers a higher purpose. He never lost his idealism, he just bent the means on how to adhere to it. The most important thing he kept from his youth is that sense for a higher purpose, something which proved absolutely necessary for him in Gotham. Otherwise, he would not have survived the wilderness of the City, the madness of Her people and the darkness of Her soul.
Backstory: James Gordon was born in Gotham City, where his father worked as District Attorney during his childhood. Ever since he was a child, he wanted to be a police officer and enrolled at the age of 18. He passed his exams and was soon assigned a street position in The Bowery. As a young officer, Gordon had to witness the death of his father under quite suspicious circumstances, which is why he was reassigned to Chicago PD in order to get his affairs in order. With his widowed mother, Gordon moved from the town that caused him so much pain to a new place, where he would manage to keep, and that was most important to him, his sanity. While in Chicago, his mother died of a heart attack.

After more than 10 years, Gordon finally transferred back to Gotham as a detective at the age of 29. It was a difficult period in the city because things were going from bad to worse during his absence. The GCPD was more corrupt than ever, the DA's office had more ties to the underground than the underground itself, so did the judges and the city was falling into chaos without any control. Gordon could've given in, he could've just gone with the flow, but he did not. He was one man against a whole system, but he did not give in. He did as much as he could, avoiding getting fired or transferred and things were, slowly, showing signs of improvement. Or, at least, they were stagnating, not getting worse. He found an unusual friend and ally in Harvey Bullock, a street-wise colleague of his fond of ye old whiskey, a part of the system, but only because did not have the strength Gordon had to fight it. Bullock had, unbeknownst even to himself, searched for a beacon like Gordon ever since he accepted his first bribe, years before Gordon's return. Together, they managed to clear the corruption with the GCPD and actually became a threat to the underground and the corrupt municipal bureaucracy. The fact is, Gordon and Bullock made small steps and enlarged them as time went on. In the meantime, Gordon married and had a child, a daughter named Barbara. A second child, a son named James, Jr., came several years after.

Gordon was still captain when things went completely south and madness took over the regular criminal in Gotham. The emergence of such freaks was something the GCPD could not handle at the time. They caught them, not without severe difficulties, locked them up but the insane characters would very soon find themselves back on the streets of Gotham. As did many, Gordon blamed a new force in the City, Batman, for their continuing reemergence, but he soon found out Batman was not just a necessity, but even a friend. It was a strange thing to know the Dark Knight, to be a friend (of sorts) to him. Gordon realized he was a friend after the horrible incident with Barbara. He never spoke of it, just as he never spoke of his father's accident. The latter case was still open to him as of today, when James Gordon is the undisputed, respected and (even) feared Commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department, no longer a symbol of disgusting corruption, but a symbol of resistance to the madness that is Gotham.

Backstory:
Kaelea's father and mother met in college where they dated for a about a year until Kaelea was born. Kaelea's mother didn't want to deal with having a child and her father ended up getting custody. After that, her mother transferred to a different college and wasn't heard from again. Kaelea had a pretty good life, they had a close relationship and he always put her first. But unfortunately, those happy times weren't to last. Kaelea and her father were jumped one night by joker's gang. They all had scary looking clown masks on. Her father tried to fight them off but they soon overpowered him and Kaelea ran. The men in the clown masks soon followed. While running she tripped and fell, when she looked up there were a bunch of clown masks staring down at her and one of them laughing loudly. That was when she realized one of them wasn't wearing a mask at all. When they reached toward her trying to grab her she screamed and then suddenly a tall dark figure fell from the sky and took on the gang. Kaelea soon realized it was Batman and watched fight wishing she could of been able to protect herself. When Batman was done taking care of the thugs the Joker had already left. Kaelea ran to check on her father but she got back there was was a knife stuck in his back with a note on it probably a terrible joke the Joker left. Kaelea hugged her father crying her eyes he would trout. When she noticed Batman starting to leave Kaelea ran up to him with her tear-stained face asking if he would train her to be like him. He stared at her then glanced over at her father then back at Kaelea. He warned about the path she was about to take but she had already seemed to have made up her mind. Finally, he agreed and a new chapter in Kaelea's life had begun. Kaelea is now 13 and has been training and living with Batman since then as his adoptive daughter. She goes with him for bank robberies and muggings but nothing to high profile unless he's in a pinch. Even though she was adopted she does still have family on her father side but they live in Japan, where her father is originally from.

Though originally Harvey Dent wanted to bring justice to Gotham and kept a clean appearance after becoming Two-Face his positive attributes took a back seat. After his incident Two-Face or his darker side became his dominant side though not without Harvey's influence and vice versa. Two-Face is ruthless and violent a short temper ensures he's quick to flip first and ask questions later. He's capable of leading and making intelligent and rational decisions though and is not without some charisma not entirely brash likely due to Harvey's influence. Harvey while not as dominant in the shared mind does on occasion show his face so to speak desiring the less violent outcome of a coin flip and even speaking his mind as the more calm and collected of the two halves. This opposite nature can cause outbursts between the two to which they will argue out loud. Two-Face is not consistently evil; every time he contemplates a crime, he flips his two-headed coin. Only if the coin came up scratched-side would he go and commit the crime, never questioning the result of the toss. This compulsion is a compromise between Dent's evil "Two-Face" personality and his former, law-abiding self, a sort of middle ground on making a choice between the two. Over the years, he has been shown to rely on the coin to different degrees. Sometimes to decide whether or not to commit a crime, sometimes to decide whether or not to do something good, like save someone. He will even go out of his way to do good deeds if the coin mandates.

Backstory:
Harvey Dent's origin relates that he went through much hardship during his childhood. Growing up under the parentage of an abusive and mentally-ill father, Harvey Dent started developing repressed mental illnesses of his own, such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. His hard work ethic, however, later allowed him to rise as the youngest district attorney to serve Gotham City, nicknamed "Apollo" for his good looks and clean-cut image, at age 26.
Dent forges an alliance with police captain James Gordon and Batman to rid Gotham of crime boss Sal Maroni, and Carmine Falcone, with the former murdered by the latter's son. Gordon also speculated that Dent might have been Batman, but dismissed this theory on grounds that Dent lacked Batman's financial resources. Falcone hires the corrupt Assistant District Attorney Vernon Fields to provide Sal Maroni with sulfuric acid to disfigure Dent with. Two-Face gets his trademark coin from his father that would employ the coin in a perverse nightly "game" that always ended with a beating. This would instill in Dent his lifelong struggle with free will and his eventual inability to make choices on his own, relying on the coin to make all of his decisions. Eventually, the scarred Dent takes his revenge on Fields and Maroni, leading to his incarceration in Arkham Asylum and subsequent fall into villainy.
