What is Ballad of Renegades?
Hello! Thanks for taking the time to look into our RP and showing an interest in the world of Kirlia! Currently, we have eight active players and are currently looking to recruit a few more as we've entered the second chapter of our story after a hiatus period. We believe we're at a good jump-off point for any new players who may want to join the RP without having to do research on everything that has come before; for that, we will summarize the most important parts in a brief paragraph later on in the interest check.
Ballad of Renegades follows a group of exiles, vagabonds, and former prisoners who had been coming together from across the game map to converge at a point to blend the starts. Now, they've all arrived at their desired destination, but things are hardly as they seem. Originally, it was important for each character to start as a similarly troubled individual. Now that we've transitioned into the next arc, however, there's an opportunity to create other kinds of characters.
Right now, our cast is in the Barony of Westvale in the larger Kingdom of Braethia and their end-goal is the dreary, wet, and swampy land of Darkmire to the north in search of a clue which may lead to the object of the RP: The Cradle of Life, a legendary artifact said to be able to grant any wish. Westvale should be a land bustling with the quiet life of easy-going villagers and golden grain, but now the villages are abandoned, carts overturned on the side of the road, and no clear explanation in sight.
IF you're a current BoR player, do NOT read this spoiler, but if you're reading this interest check for the first time then it would be knowledge your potential character would be aware of: a terrible undead (the fighty skeleton kind) scourge has beset Westvale from the lands of Darkmire.
In essence, the plot is currently divided into two plots: the current arc in Westvale and Darkmire, and the overarching plot of finding The Cradle. It is up to you whether your character has any knowledge or desire for The Cradle or is somehow more invested in the events taking placing in Westvale (I.E. an adventurer, guard, or local citizen).

- Group One rallied together to explore Agonos Isles and discovered the truth of the mage Conclave that resided on the island. After discovering the shard of a God inside, they were sent on a quest to Darkmire.
- Group Two made the long journey to a Sanctuary of a long-dead order known as The Order of Seekers, a group devoted to studying magic and relics whose most extreme elements sought to rid the world of them. There, they met a woman trapped for eternity, an oracle, who showed them a vision of the future they needed to take in order to find The Cradle of Life for the price of eventually freeing her one day.
- Group Three escaped a prison with a robot who had knowledge on The Cradle of Life.
These things brought the groups together to our current location in Westvale where your new character would also be starting. Naturally, they would likely be drawn to the location in order to somehow try to defeat, profit from, or otherwise interact with the aforementioned scourge. Their exact desires could be discussed in our Discord's Lore Cookhouse.
Lore
In Ballad of Renegades, lore is a community effort that allows players to invite pieces of themselves onto the continent of Kirlia and help tailor a story experience in which they feel excited to participate. The process of creating lore is left up to the players, but the GMs may lend their input as needed; the final say always goes to the GMs in regards to what lore is accepted as official in order to maintain quality and balance.
The WIP map is located at the end of this post. Any named location on the map already has a description of its culture, environment, politics, and other such unique qualities. New additions can be added if you desire to have a unique location for your character's backstory or goals.
Expectations
That is to say there aren’t a ton of them. We want this to be fun—not to feel like work, but in order to provide a great experience, we think it would benefit our community to establish some mild minimum writing requirements:

- Multiple paragraphs per post
- A post frequency of once per every few days (barring extenuating circumstances and forward notice)
- Let everyone have their moment under the spotlight
- Join the community Discord for lore discussion and OOC shenanigans!
