Badlands

Ralak fell to his back and then Ravus let his spear of light fly at the titan tried to sit up, the spear cruised right into the titan's chest. He saw laser shots and looked at the direction they came from noticing Astro wants to interrogate the titan. Ravus head snapped back to focus on the titan as he noticed it began to glow as if it was still about to Battlecry. Then suddenly a flash of blue and a bolt of lightning struck the Titan's chest once more. With all the concentrared damage in that area the Titan's soul was now critically wounded. His battlecry was stopped and his aura faded. Ralak let loose a low groan of defeat. "He's all yours Sir." Ravus called to Astro as he landed. Ravus's soul armor disappeared as he walked closer to the downed titan.

Raiden was about to join the Sentienls around the downed titan when the feeling from before nawed at him even stronger now that Ralak's energy was no longer interfering with Raikou detecting the energy of the other titan. Raiden could tell the Titan's far off and he likely only senses him because of their connection and how his souls are crying out for revenge. Raiden zipped off towards the town and out of view.

After using his powder to defend off the Titan's attack, Osamu escaped through the smoke. He hovered over the area watching the fight from above. There were too many Sentinels for him to do exactly what he wanted. He knew if he acted he would be stopped, so he waited for the right moment before he did. He watched as they attacked the Titan one after the another syncing their attacks. Soon the Titan fell to his back and was severely weakened. He sinister grin grew on his face as he thought about ending the Titan and eating his soul, but then a voice echoed in his head. The voice of the old, bony hag Yoven. "Prey comes after the mission is completed." He growled and balled his fist until his claws stabbed the palms of his hands. "After they interrogate him, then you move Osamu. Just hold out a bit longer, then you'll get your feast." He unballs his fist and watch and listens for anything important. Demeter shakily exhaled in relief, then let herself fall down on her right knee, her armor covered in cracks and black from the fire tempest, the Earth wielder exhausted and her energy depleted from serving as the target of almost every of the raging Titan's attacks. Being the most defensive warrior in the group, she did her best to suffice his every attack while the others gave lethal wounds. Their victory was hers as well. Demeter straightened up, standing on their feet again and rolling her shoulder, hearing it crack along with the upper part of her spine. "Good work, Immortals!" She announced, proud of the allies she had the opportunity of traveling with and watching them grow. The ex Officer wavered back, letting her aether take charge on instinct and summon a serpent made out of stone, the amber haired woman leaning her back against its head and straightening up again.

Acantha walked around to the titans head taking note of the many battlescars and how brutish he looked. Probably not as primal as the fossil fuel ones that attacked the ship but definitely a lot more, well less developed cognitively developed like Jad. "now now, seeing how you are the chieftain of your clan or so thats what the others said we have a few questions for you." Little did the Titan know her strings were already digging into the titan's body ready to inflict pain at any kind of resistance. "how do you and your clan members eat the souls of people? a previously huntsman only trait." She perhaps she shouldve asked about the state of the badlands first but she was particularly interested by this new development that she was taking out of the others before he interrupted.

"I....... can't..... remember.......just...dark...." the titan struggled to say as if he was thinking so hard that it heart or maybe it was fhe extent of damage to his avatar and soul, Ravus chimed in "Ma'am, I don't think we'll get a straight answer out of him. I do think we should destroy the rest of his avatar and send his soul back to be studied." Ravus's left hand began to glow as he prepared to carry out the suggestion if given the go ahead. They couldn't afford to stand around and wait out in the open nor go somewhere and give this titan time to recover.

Ravus noted the Sentinel he didn't recognize was pretty banged up, he wondered who she was and what she's doing here. He eyed at the Huntsmen hovering a little ways away from the group of Sentinels. His kind only thought about one thing devouring souls. Unfortunately the soul of this titan was not on the menu for today. What was this huntsmen going to do anyway? Challenge four Sentinels to fight by himself?

Astro Vashile
"He remembers, but he doesn't want to speak." Astro said as he walked towards his head. He touched his throat and his hands began to burn in blue fire.
"Do you remember the last time I touched you?" He asked in a very threatening voice. "Now, speak. We know of the knowledge you possess. Where are the other warlords and where is your headquarters? Faster, before I run out of patience."

Acantha was going over her options perhaps a live study would yield better results but that would mean revealing this valuable information to others. Simply talking to him wont be a very sound solution either he would probably talk of something about tradition and such. "Ravus, call in an extraction team for him." It was perhaps better to pursue the information than let it die, however she may be able to influence the scientists that work it. Plus she can used the injured and downed titan that everyone had seemed to forget. Killing Ralak or at least damaging him to the point of no return she nodded at Ravus signalling its safe to call in a team to extract the body.

"Scouts" She said with a finger to her earpiece followed by a few "yes Ma'am's". "Remember, stay low, stay quiet, and report any points of interest, if you see any signs of trouble. Stay Clear" She gave Astro a scournful look before looking at the sky which was slowly turning dark, had the battle been that long? With a sigh she looked toward her little group of sentinels three were from sildor and one is a rogue. Walking over to the battered and non-Sildorian one she reached her hand out in the form of a friendly gesture to shake hands. "Thank you for your assistance," Seeing how this one seemed to know who she was she doubt it would be useful to bluntly ask about her.

Ralak let loose another groan but this one clearly of pain. "......Avalanche....Earthquake....Tsunami.... Nuclear Winter... Heart of Badlands.... You'll never survive, my clan will avenge me." Ralak struggled out before Acantha took him out of commission. Ravus pulled out a small omnitool device and replied "Yes Ma'am!" He put in for an extraction team to come and collect Ralak's body, hopefully they'll have preliminary findings before long. As he said this a shuttle descended from orbit to pick up Ralak's body for transport.

Ravus himself was trying to guess the secret of such anomalies. "Maybe all immortals have the capability and these titans just actually stoop so low as to do so. Think about Huntsmen were originally mortals like most immortals their only defining trait besides their immortality is the presence of Matter within their souls from consuming souls. Though that's just my assumption from trying to play scientist." Ravus explained.

Ravus wondered if this technically made these titans part Huntsmen or maybe they lack the ability to become Huntsmen because they didn't start devouring souls till they were already Immortals. So they'll likely not possses the unique abilities of the Huntsmen race. Though clearly Dark Matter tainted souls makes avatars become more ghastly. He'd hate to see a Dark Matter tainted primal. "What's our next objective ma'am?" Ravus asked.

Demeter lowered her look ever so slightly to meet Acantha's and shaking her hand. Despite the bruises and burns received the Earth Sentinel's handshake was strong, giving off herself as a strong spirited person. "Anytime, Spider queen." She grinned and let go of her hand, reaching behind and petting the stone monster's head. "Will you be going trough the whole Pilgrimage?" Demeter titled her head slightly, curious. Maybe she just had to gather one of those valuable informations of hers and then leave? That would be such a shame... Universe was without a doubt avast expansion, so much time passed from their last encounter. There might be no next time, for all that the earth wielder knew.

As Acantha shook the other Sentinel's hand her smile slightly straightened as the woman called her something that sounded like a bad joke. "Yes, we are. What about you?" She paused Remembering how the cultural director asking her to go through she pilgrimage much to her dismay. Normally she'd heavily sideline the request but she wanted to get to the top of the board. And declining requests wasnt a way to do it fast.

Turning around to Ravus she nodded toward him acknowledging his efficiency when following an order. "Thats not how immortals work, but we are pressed for time, so i'll save you a lecture." Indeed they were, no doubt many locals saw their fight and spreading the stories about how a few immortals took out dunehammer's cheiftain. "We're going to what the one of the eariler scouts picked up from the locals called: "the city of steel" natrually one would think its just an advanced civilization but when asked further out this they simply said that no one who has entered came out." Acantha was, by now, walking away shrugging as she explained their destination.

"Immortals who were lured to it by a massive energy signature were never heard from again. Of course we dont know exactly where it is and it might just be a local legend but since we're here to experience the pilgrimage i thought i'd want to explore." There was also the chance that she herself would be killed but the possiblies of aether technology would advance her tech a few hundred years. But she was solely basing on aether with energy signatures. Not checking if they were listening or following she walked toward the downed titan who was still unconscious.

"Get a shuttle to grab this one too however keep it unmanned and nearby just incase he wakes up with funny ideas." She said into her earpiece and looked at ravus. "Now, off to the desert!" Seemingly breaking character of the coldness steely woman that she had been so far she pointed in a random direction into the desert with an exaggerated gesture. After all she cant be entirely logical that would lower morale.

"Yes Ma'am" Ravus replied reaching to his earpiece. "Commander Ravus, send a geostationary unmanned cargo drone to pick up a weaker but less damaged subject over." Ravus said quietly into the earpiece. He wondered what they may encounter in the City of Steel. He began to follow after the oddly enthusiastic Acantha. He gave the Rogue Sentinel an odd look. Just who is she and how does she know Director Acantha? The Director acts as if she doesn't know the Rogue, could it be something the Director can't remember?

Demeter nodded from long time attained habit. "I surely am, I have to get stronger to achieve my goal." She said with determination that never ceased in the Earth controlling Sentinel. All immortals will perish, only then could living beings live in peace with her as their real God. She was merely at the start of her journey, and she won't be missing a single chance to grow stronger or die trying. The amber rogue and self proclaimed warrior smiled widely at Acantha's next order, clapping happily with a warm smile at such a childish side of her friend. It was surely bringing back memories. Demeter looked up to the sky, then back at the direction that the String Sentinel pointed at, ready for yet another adventure. She looked to the side at the others that Acantha was obviously allied with and kindly smiled, trusting them for that solemn fact alone.

As Acantha and co were walking through the desert they spotted light in the relative darkness of the desert night, the temperature was extremely low and continuing to drop. "who knew the desert could get so cold?" it was obvious sarcasm and she knew neither of them would be too bothered by it considering they were immortals but she needed to break the silence somehow. "A village is up ahead, perhaps we can take shelter there and ask about the our destination?" at this point they needed a better way to find this city rather than walking aimlessly in the desert, Acantha was keeping up a facade of knowing where to go and acting as leader. The large village was more of a city in its own right with structures made of dried mud that almost looked like concrete, Acantha could spot several wells from her vantage point and a rather large building in the middle surrounded by what looked to be a square of huts, maybe a market place?.

Entering the village it was extremely quiet as most people are assumed asleep, however there was a small bustle near the middle. "Looks like its free from the titan clans" Acantha said upon realizing the lack of giants. "lets find someone to talk to" Her smile grew slightly as if her definition of talking to was warped some way.

"What if we just wandered into our destination and we just don't know it because it's a trap." Ravus said with a pore attempt at humor. "Ma'am, didn't the scout explain in some capacity where the place is. At any rate why not head for the big important building in the center. We can hear something going on down there anyway." Ravus began making his way ahead of the group, he didn't want to go too far because he's starting to grow suspicious of this place which was natural for a soldier.

However miles behind the group was another Guardian. He was at the site of the group's previous battle seemingly combing for evidence. "Definitely, Star Scourge and not just the Titans because it seems like something killed the Titans by energy residues and then ate it. There's probably a Huntsman about and soon there will be one less Star Scourge tainted being in existence." He thought aloud.

Liliac held the dying newborn in her arms, it was so cold but not gone yet, it was ill, very ill and she was their last hope. "Hush little one," the Guardian spoke quietly, it wasn't exactly warm so the Guardian held tightly, her Energy seemingky coating the child in a thick warm light. Born into this world and dead within days. That was tragic. With a small smile she willed her Energy onwards, clinging to the soul and seemingly stitching it back together and plucking out the problem. His skin began turning a more normal colour for a baby and his crying began to cease, no tears falling anymore, no vomit either. If this person was any bigger it would've taken her more than half hour just to save them.
The man took his child swiftly from the Guardian's arms, and traded the life with money. Liliac almost felt bad, taking money from such a poor child but she wasn't exactly loaded and did need to live, besides she had brought plenty of food to them which would be enough to serve them for a decently long period of time.
"Thank you, good luck to you sir, ma'am," she smiled before walking out the door.

-

Liliac had been here about three days, generally keeping a low profile and healing under the wraps but now a different tingling Energy was in the air. Stronger. Powerful. Titans? Sentinels? Liliac wandered into the large crowd at the centre of the town she'd taken refuge in, standing at the back, waiting to see what would happen.
"Excuse me wh-?"

"No idea myself lil one, I came out 'ere to figure that one as well,"

Liliac gave a small smile as she looked around but the undeniable surge in the air, made her skin crawl. She figured she'd just have to wait.

Demeter warmly laughed at Petroshka's remark, having dematerialized her scorched armor and walking freely in more leisurable but still amber colored clothing, the vastness of the desert around them feeling like home to the Earth Sentinel. She kept her eyes closed, letting the movement of particles and her comrades' energies lead her instead of sight, the warrior catching energy of a Guardian strong as her herself tailing them but not saying anything about it. She just smiled it off, not finding anyone threatening until they actually surged at her. Demeter walked barefoot over the sand while carrying her boots in her hand, feeling more in touch with her surroundings and staying on top of the sand instead of dragging her feet like the rest. She seemed completely in tune with the earth below their feet, as if she could talk to it. It wasn't really that far from truth, though.

The Earth Sentinel hummed as they walked into the village, opening her eyes again and putting her socks on before sliding the boots on her feet, returning to walking on Acantha's right with a few hurried steps. "Just don't torture or threaten the civilians for information, Acantha", Demeter immediately noted, knowing that sometimes her friend could go overboard during her interrogations. "Why don't we hit a pub, I'm sure that, if anyone's awake, we'll find them there." She proposed with a hopeful smile, wanting a drink and to catch some rest after spending so many days on the sea and the previous battle. How could anyone sleep when the floor under their feet is unstable? Demeter looked to the side, and warmly smiled as she saw a woman who just exited her house. "Good evening!" She said and stopped, politely bowing her head, since she didn't have a hat to lower in greeting, and looked at the woman with her amber eyes glinting in the almost complete darkness. "Is there any good pub near?"

Acantha watched the commander take the lead, she didn't really think about it much more focused on looking for anyone who might be looking at them from a hidden position. When her companion remarked on her techniques of information gathering she stayed silent perfering not to make a counter. She did make a nice suggestion of going to a pub however, "The the nearest pub it is then" looking back at the amberclad woman, until she greeted someone Acantha wasn't looking at. it was a random woman who smiled back and waved "You're coming in the middle of our festival!" the woman then started heading toward the center of the town gesturing the new arrivals to where most of the sounds and lights were emitting from.

One Acantha and co got there the woman turned around to them. "during this time of the year we celebrate the guardians that protect us" she bowed "i dont know much else you'll have to find someone more knowledgable" Giving a sorry look she walked toward the crowd seemingly to disappear. There were statues of what are presumably guardians, murals of figures fighting large humaniod beings and various beasts. "This place seems to have had quite the history." Acantha commented while looking for someone that didnt look they were having a seizure. Eventually eyes setting on a woman who had been eyeing them for a while. Her smile grew a little as she whispered "That one"

Ravus was at first tense wondering if they had angered the villagers but once it seemed the villagers were more interested and just curious about them he relaxed. He look at the statues all around, they depicting Guardians fighting things that were clearly Huntsmen, Titans, and Primals. Based on the word of the woman, Guardians must have looked after this place which guaranteed their survival. Ravus wondered how many other places like Sol are like that. He wondered why he couldn't feel......

Just then his head snapped looking at Liliac who felt like an immortal not an Aether or Dark Matter type one which only left Guardian based on her appearance. He wondered if the people were celebrating her. He actually had a lot of questions but he remembered why the came here. He got near Acantha and whispered "Remember, the reason we came here is to get information about our destination."

Liliac caught wind of what was happening and a smile bloomed on her face. It was like home! The parties they held for the Guardians! For her! She chuckled, knowing damn well none of this was for her because she hadn't put herself out there. Liliac turned on her heel before her eyes landed on the grpup with the Energy source. Oh dear! Oh my!

They had approached a woman, who led them to the centre and described the festival, then there was something about a Pub. Liliac walked over, carefully but nonetheless a bright smile on her face. "I hear you're looking for a pub, if you're willing to follow I can show you where one is?" The girl bowed her head out of respect, running a hand over her large pant legs with a smile towards the group. I'm meeting Titans and Sentinals! How!? Are they on the pilgrimage through Sol that I've heard so much about?!

"My name is Liliac," the Guardian lowered her head again before looking up. The man had quite obviously looked at her, no doubt sensing something! Oh come on if she could sense them then they clearly knew about her! The other girl was creepy and man whispered something in her ear of which she didn't hear. The other woman had a sense of boldness, determination, strength, it was admirable to say the least and the rest of their group was just as special.

Liliac smiled again and tapped her fingers to calm her nerves before waiting for a yes or no.

Demeter smiled, walking after the woman without any fear and looking over her shoulder at the rest of the group, wanting to see if they were following before following after the mortal with more enthusiasm. The two woman chatted when Demeter managed to reach her pace, mostly interested about food and some simple customs of the place. More than happy with what she heard, and already making a small list of things she wanted to try, Demeter waved the girl farewell as she disappeared in the crowd, having gotten the information she found useful. The festival made to honor the Guardians... The Sentinel spun on the heels of her amber boots, looking at all the vivid colors and listening to the voices and smiling as the music plaid was so energetic, it could make just about anyone stand up and dance. It surely reminded her of the festivals that mortals committed to her, on couple of occasions during her adventures across the known Universe. Every festival just kept being different from the others for Demeter and equally enjoyable, guaranteeing a good time for the earth immortal no matter in how many festivals she had been. She nodded, agreeing with the string Sentinel that this town certainly must have had a fascinating history.

The first thing she felt in the next moment was the energy unlike the rest the warrior had encountered, calm and elegant just like water, soothing and kind. Demeter looked over just as Acantha whispered those two words and nodded, hearing her clearly and looking at the direction of the Guardian. Unlike most of immortals, Demeter was far more cautious with Guardians than with Huntsmen. She understood the so called huntsmen, their constant surge for food and power to ensure survival, but Guardians she didn't. They remained a mystery to the Sentinel that freely walked with the group towards the woman in question, unafraid and smiling as always. The aura around the Guardian and her energy told Demeter everything that she needed to know, already trusting their new acquaintance. "We definitely are, any help would be of much use." She bowed slightly as well, and then looked at the Guardian with that warm, assuring smile of hers. "It's nice to meet you Liliac, especially since we're in this town for the first time, I'm Demeter and this is Acantha, along with Ravus".

Acantha slightly bowed to the guardian. "if it isnt too much trouble you dont happen to know much about the surrounding area either do you? Perhaps we can converse more at the pub" getting up again she gave the guardian a brighter smile. Hopefully they dont run into too much trouble.

There was indeed a pub near by that was still up, the owner enjoying all the attention (and profit) he was getting. The Silt Strider pub was busy with a fury of commotion party goers and various unique personalities scattered all around. There were quite a few amount of Guardians there some on the pilgrimage others simply wandering, it appears this city and pub in particular is a well known spot for Guardians to visit. Surely they will notice anyone who isnt the same energy signature as the rest?

Ravus was thankful he didn't spook the Guardian with his most likely creeping stare when he picked up on her energy. But he was caught off guard entering a bar full of Guardians. It was s surprising he didn't sense this a mile away and more surprising there were this many guardians in one place. That must means this place has year round protection so never has become like a how a town in the Badlands should be. He bet their arrival at the bar silenced it, afterall Sentinels are rare and for some this may be their first encounter. Ravus wondered if based on the statues some of these guys may know what's going on with the whole Clan Dunehammer and Dark matter tainted immortal but not Huntsmen thing.

Little did Ravus know that soon, news of a squad of sentinels would make it's rounds because one guardian within the bar is a member of the Crusaders who always makes sure to keep a member in this hot zone at all times for recruiting and defensive purposes.

Liliac smiled towards the group "Pleasure," she bowed her head in respect.

The Guardian led them inside the bar and wasn't really surprised at the entire silence. "You might want to head to the back," she leant over and whispered in Demeter's ear. There was no doubt this was going to end without a few hits, hopefully it didn't but with this group she didn't know what to infer. Liliac uses her energy to form her whips and kept them at her side, ready.

"Yes, Acantha right?" Liliac nodded before grabbing a table at the back, she flipped her brown hair and shuffled onto the seat. "I've only been here about 3 days, haven't really made my presence well known, I do...certain jobs to earn my keep round here," Liliac's brows furrowed. "This place is a hub for Guardian's, like clans of sorts? Guilds? Some are good some are bad but alot of recruiment is done round these parts," she tried to rack her brain for something more useful. "I do not know much about the History of the town, sorry ma'am," Liliac bowed her head again before looking over at the man who had stared her out.

Sentinels and Titans were so strange.

Osamu
Since after the fight with the Titan and the Sentries took away both his meals, Osamu kept a low profile. He traveled the sandy area of the Badlands, resisting his urge to fed. There were too many good in this area for him to wreck havoc. He decided against following the sentries because he knew that, that too will result in his downfall. Osamu entered a random home within the badlands, killing off the residents as quickly as possible. He don't cause any explosions but only solidified his powder to form sharp weapons. After killing them he ate their souls, and began raiding their home for alcohol. After finding it he sat n a chair and started drinking, until he felt like doing something important. He still pretty ticked off on how his meals were taken away from him. He scoffs and starts ranting. "Who do they(the sentries) think they are stealing my damn food? What gave them the right? Oooo we need information so we gone take this titans and interrogate them. What a damn waste. They'll will make better use in my damn mouth as I devour their souls. Now I had to down grade from a good 4 star meal to a weak ass 1 star peasant ass meal." He scoffs again and continues drinking. "And another thing, where the hell did that old hag go? She better be doing something productive." Field Marshall Field Marshall

Demeter smiled as they entered the pub, looking around before settling her attention to the quiet immortals. She nodded at what was whispered to her ear by Liliac, and walked over to the bar table. The barman didn't make a move, his look focused on the earth sentinel who grinned at him. "Can I get my friends and myself a free round of drinks if I beat you at arm wrestling?" This question suddenly lifted the atmosphere in the pub and quite so significantly, the immortals yelling and urging the bulky and strong Huntsman to give it a shot while the amber haired woman already had her arm out, ready to arm wrestle and basically taunting him to do it.
Looking around the Huntsman chuckled and grinned, throwing the white towel he held in his hand on the counter right next to the sink and then he outstretched his arm, pressing his elbow against the rotten wood and clasping their hands together. Both of the immortals were bent over the bar table and keeping eye contact as they waited for the rather obese man sitting at the bar stool next to them, that looked like a barrel of wine more than anything else, to announce when to start. The man looked at them, the whole crowd at their toes as they waited for the attention loving man to speak. He spent a moment more looking at the competitors with squinted eyes while playing with his mustache, before suddenly yelling for them to begin. The crowd yelled as the immortals immediately started pushing the other's arm over, them still maintaining eye contact during the whole match composed out of three rounds, emerald eyes stuck on amber ones. The crowd ovated and cheered during every round, screaming as Demeter victoriously slammed the Headhunter's hand against the table for the second time in the final round, making the old table crack. Demeter smiled widely and, like a true sportsman, shook her hands with the barman. She couldn't have been happier with the small match they had to entertain the immortals present, the outcome being uncertain until the very end. Like promised, the man announced "The drinks are on the house!", making the immortals cheer at him and take generous swings of their drinks. It seemed like the Huntsman had had a good time as well, so Demeter walked over to the table where her company was with a big smile plastered over her face, sliding everyone a glass before sitting down. "It's alright, Liliac, you mentioned recruitment, right? Every guild or alliance highly appreciates healers like yourself, are you looking for joining one?". She asked out of curiosity, sitting next to Acantha right at the end of the bench.
