Ali

Mood: Excited

Location: SHIELD Compound

Pulling up the driveway of the Upstate New York SHIELD base Ali came to a stop on her purple Harley-Davidson motorcycle and looked around. All around her were state-of-the-art buildings that looked sleek and modern and only promised to be more interesting on the inside. The buildings were surrounded by large fields, landing pads, a lake, and in the distance, she could see woods along the perimeter. The place was huge and it instantly amazed her that they could keep anything this big a secret. The platinum-haired female was instantly curious about what would pop up on Google maps if you typed in this address. She highly doubted that the buildings bearing the SHIELD logo would be so easy to find and assumed that the area probably still registered as wilderness on modern mapping software. For a moment she paused to take a good look at the lake from where she stood straddling her bike and wondered if it would be any good for water sports or if Fury would even allow time for such things.

Unlike most Ali didn't actually need to wear a helmet due to her healing factor so as she dismounted the bike all she had to do was turn it off and make sure it was standing on the kick stand. Taking her long platinum blonde hair out of the ponytail it was in Ali reached into her pocket and grabbed a lollipop that she quickly unwrapped and placed in her mouth. She grabbed her bag from the back of the bike and turned to make her way inside the base. From what she could tell she was the first of the new group to arrive but she knew she also might be wrong. Not everyone traveled by vehicle, technically she didn’t need to either. No matter how supercharged she became though she knew she would never give up her time on her precious metal steed. She had fixed that bike up with her own two hands and would continue to do so for the rest of her life or at least that was the plan.

As she entered Ali's jade eyes shifted all around the building taking in every detail and every face she saw. She smiled and waved as she passed a few people, figuring that if she was going to be staying it was best to be friendly from the start. With her bag over her shoulder, the empowered young woman roamed the halls knowing that she would hopefully eventually find her way to the part of the base Fury intended for the new team to meet in. It was hard to stay on track though as more and more interesting things began popping up and she couldn't resist checking them out and going in for a better look. She stuck out a bit like a sore thumb compared to all the agents in their SHIELD uniforms. Here she was, walking around the base with a lollipop in her mouth, wearing a chopped Grateful Dead crop top, ripped jeans and tie-dye converses, clothes that were fashionable but still easy to travel in. "Man this place is massive. I wonder what the power system for it looks like." She muttered to herself with a grin on her lips and a spark of curiosity in her jade gaze.

Lala

Location: SHIELD Compound

The wind rushing against her face and through her hair felt amazing as she soared through the clear blue sky. Her feet were magically fastened to her enchanted longboard with its glittery blue wheels turning in the open air as she swerved around a few birds and picked up speed. Some might think it childish that the young witch decided to give her longboard the ability to fly but Lala didn’t care. It was fun and honestly, she couldn’t step onto it without smiling which meant it was magic well used in her book. If someone had an issue with her using her magic to do something that was in the long run harmless fun then they would have to just suck it up. Unless the situation was bad, like really really bad, world ending or people dying levels of bad, the pink haired magic user tried not to use her gifts for anything other than creating smiles. She would put on cute shows for kids at the park, bring an old ladies flower bush back to life, create a rainbow at a pride parade, anything to make others happy.

Of course, when she wasn’t doing that or fighting evil she could often be found traveling all over the worlds learning everything she could about magic. Her travels had taken her far and wide, into different realms, to different planets, through the astral plain. She had even been lucky enough to visit Asgard before it was destroyed and studied there with the people for several months. Now she was beginning her next great adventure as she rode through the skies of Upper New York towards the SHIELD compound that lay hidden deep within the wilderness. Her leafy green gaze glanced down at the world below and she could see her destination cut out in the otherwise natural scenery. The many gray buildings and landing pads stuck out a bit against the landscape but there still seemed to be quite a bit of natural beauty to the land around the base. Seeing it clearly now Lala was certain she wouldn’t have an issue finding a wonderful place to meditate as well as commune with her goddess.

As she descended from the skies, she lifted one foot off the board and touched down to the paved path leading to the building. Looking around she could see a few other vehicles parked outside what looked to be the main building and figured she must not be the first to arrive. Kicking her longboard up she held it in her hand and uttered, “Knirhs”, and a heartbeat later the board was pocket size which is exactly where it went. With that the smiley pink haired girl practically skipped into the compound, her rainbow painted cheeks glittering with every move she made. “Hi!” She greeted and waved at the strangers she passed knowing she would likely be seeing them a lot if the team ended up working out. “Hello!” She greeted another stranger who looked surprised to see such a colorful and bubbly young woman wandering around. “Could anyone point me in the direction of the new members meeting?” She inquired as she realized that she wasn’t exactly sure where to go in this massive building.

Kenna

Location: SHIELD Compound

It felt odd to be sitting in a waiting room in the secret compound of SHIELD as a welcome guest. For years she had been one of their greatest enemies, a shadow that stalked and killed them and those they wished to protect. It wasn’t her choice to do such things, but it was still her hand who had done them and she would not make excuses for herself. When Fury and Dr. Row had offered her a way out of Hydra and removed her collar, she knew that she would spend the rest of her days atoning for the crimes of her past and working to put down those who she once called comrades, her sister included. She gave them what information she had in an effort to secure some trust, but it seemed that since Dr. Row was convinced of her intentions, Fury had been convinced as well. It didn’t sit well with her to be trusted so easily after all she had done which was why she would not take advantage of that trust and would make sure she earned every bit of it. Her back burned as these thoughts and others lingered in her mind, the demon sword reminding her of the souls she carried within its blade.

Silently she sat with her arms at her side and her gaze focused on the table before her, the only movement coming from her being a blink or a breath. She had been at the compound for about two weeks now after being transported from another secure location. The only people she dared to communicate with were Fury, Dr. Row, and a few agents who were sent to check in on her. She didn’t know how to really talk to others and knew that many here likely held ill will towards her due to her past, something she didn’t blame them for. About an hour or so ago Fury had entered the room with another being who Kenna could instantly tell was machine disguised as a man rather than flesh and blood. He had a kind face and eyes that looked like they smiled often, instantly Kenna felt uneasy having him around but did not complain as Fury explained he was there in case others did not appreciate her presence on the team. She nodded in understanding before giving her escort a nod as well and returning to sitting in silence until Fury returned for herself and the AI known as Jester.

Upon being summoned by Fury to follow him so that Jester and she could meet the rest of the team Kenna rose to her feet and shifted her long ebony hair behind her shoulders. She looked over at Jester, silently indicating that he may leave before her in an effort to be polite. Once the small group had exited the waiting room Kenna walked at a pace that matched Fury’s and Jester’s, knowing that it would be less likely to cause an issue if she remained with the man in charge and her escort. She couldn’t help but wonder if Jester was there to keep her in line or keep others in line and eventually concluded that it was likely both. Fury wasn’t a man who liked to take too many chances unless he had something up his sleeve so she figured Jester might be the ace up the directors sleeve, or at least one of them. Icy blue eyes remained focused on the hall ahead of her while out of habit her other senses focused on everything else going on around her. She could hear the countless heartbeats of those within the building, someone making their way through the pipes, the smell of people coming from all different places, the sweetness of candy being opened somewhere. She was no where near most of this but her enhanced senses provided her with an edge that few could hide from.

While most people would likely take the front entrance to the shield facility, especially when invited personally by a certain grumpy cyclops, Delphine was not most people. Setting aside the entire eating of a crazed alien with questionable pronouns and gaining superpowers, she was someone who liked to both make an entrance and have some fun at the same time. As a result, she had actually been spending the past several days scoping out the compound, taking note of the various high-tech sensors and cameras, its layout and general goings on. While she had every intention of joining, she thought it might be more entertaining to see how their security really held up and if she could sneak into the compound to the meeting location without being noticed.

She had eventually settled on the lake as the entrance method, given all the buildings she was under no illusion that it both had an extensive underground, as well as needed some major generator equipment to power the compound since there were no power cables leading onto the grounds. The thing about big power generators is they normally needed big cooling and given what she knew about shield she doubted the lake was just for show. So after some time she had carefully navigated the connected piping to the lake and squeezed through several seemingly impossibly thin outlets to make it inside, making sure to float and drift at a slow pace rather than actually swim just in case there were some surprises for her.

Eventually, she had made it into the facility itself on an unknown level and now was tasked with making her way to her destination, something made easier as her form shifted into that of a shield uniformed agent and pulled the whole acting natural routine, eventually finding her way closer to the meeting room where she pretended to stand guard outside the door in a stiff formal pose waiting for others to arrive.

Rafe wasn’t sure how today was going to go. There were so many things that could possibly set him off and he wasn’t fully sure he could control his powers just yet. Ever since he’d discovered he had them he had been training every day wanting to improve his skill with them. The male arrived soon at the location texted to him the shield residence where he’d be meeting up with others just like him. His icy blue eyes flicked around wandering if he’d run into anyone just yet. There were a few people that he spotted heading into the building. The first one was a beautiful blonde who had arrived on a motorcycle he couldn’t help but follow her with his gaze. Then he shook his head snapping himself out of his thoughts before making sure he had everything he needed upon his person. “Alrighty time to head in before I’m late.”he mumbled to himself locking his car then heading towards his destination. Once working through facility a calm seemed to settle upon him this was really happening he was going to be meeting Director Fury.

He suddenly so a bubbly pink haired female bouncing about a smile couldn’t help but form upon his face. She seemed super friendly and very vibrant that was always pleasant. He saw her looking around as if she was searching for something then his suspicion was confirmed as he heard her question.”Well I’m new here as well but I know where to go. You can come with me if you’d like.”he said to her. This bubbly girl was going to be one of his teammates at least she seemed friendly enough. His gaze flicked over seeing another female walking by her dark hair wishing behind her as she walked. The look in her eyes startled him it was sharp like a hawks as if she was already ready to take someone down. He couldn’t help but watch her for a few moments before looking back towards the colorful female.”She looks like she could kill with just her gaze.”he said quietly not sure if the female could hear him or not. He would soon learn the females name was Poppy and she for sure would kill with just a look if she could. “Anyways follow me and let’s head to our destination.”he said warmly before starting to lead the way. “Oh I’m Rafe by the way what’s your name?”he asked his breath coming out in a mist as his body cooled down some. His powers seeping out a bit for a moment before he reigned it back in not wanting to freeze his new companion.

He heard a few more people walking past and saw them as he traveled along side Lala leading her towards the newbie room.”Do you think we will all be together or split into some smaller teams?”he asked her as they walked. It was already nice meeting someone so bubbly and kind plus he was curious about her powers. He had thought he saw her shrink something, but he wasn’t completely sure. His mind also wondered back towards the blonde he’d seen enter the building earlier. She had looked about his age so hopefully she would be one of the newest members as well.

Jester had never felt awkward in his relatively long life, but standing in the room with this strange woman became the very first time he didn’t have anything to say. Her situation was unique, logically she couldn’t be trusted. She’d always been the enemy based on Jester’s knowledge, and yet Fury had shown no signs of distrust in her. So, he wouldn’t either. Or should he? These moralistic riddles were always his favorite to ponder on. Data analysis could only get him so far in the endeavors of human interaction. People could change. Statistically, they did not. But maybe this woman, or Kenna as he’d come to know her, proved to be an exception to this. Either way, he’d save the real brain scratching trust issues to those responsible for their team. He had a job to do, keep the peace. He hoped, perhaps naively, that words would be enough to keep his new teammates from ripping into each other. Again, the statistics did not seem in his favor. With a sigh, a new habit he’d taken up after being told his lack of breathing disturbed people, he prepared himself for the inevitable.

The sound of Mr. Fury’s direction drew him back to the moment. Kenna’s gesture confused him for a moment. Wasn’t the saying ‘Ladies First’? Perhaps this was meant to be an olive branch of kindness to show her faith in his ability to do his job. Either way, he smiled cheerfully and nodded back to her before following after their leader. He let the silence linger for a short time before finally cracking. He’d read her file and he had so many questions. None of which revolved around Hydra, surprisingly.

“Hi. I’m Jester, Mr. Fury probably told you that already but I hadn’t said anything to you yet. Nice to meet you and all that. You don’t exactly seem like the talkative type but I really have to know… What’s it like to get tattoos? I can’t really feel pain the same way humans do, but I’ve been dying to know if it’s really worth the pain. I mean, they look cool but not everyone can hang with the extensive healing process that follows and causes further pain.” He asked without a hint of sarcasm written across his face. He already knew all about what they’d recorded about her in an official sense, his priorities lying elsewhere. Probably not where she expected though.

Normally hours long rides on her Yamaha MT-07 weren’t all that greuling, but a roughly 4 hour shot straight from her hometown to the SHIELD compound? That had left her stiff. At least the weather had been kind on her way there. Dressed in all of her protective riding clothes made warmer seasons a nightmare, but she wouldn’t let being a little uncomfy endanger her life. Well, not any more than she did on any other night. She certainly hadn’t been invited to be part of some top secret team because she played it safe. Risky business was her business, but all that she’d done thus far paled next to this new chapter in her life. She wouldn’t just be fighting some punk kids or seriously demented adults stalking the shadows, she wouldn’t always have the advantage her power typically gave her. And, most daunting of all, she’d have to work with other people. It wasn’t a lack of wanting to, she’d be more than happy to share the burden of saving people from gods know what, but communicating would be a serious pain. At least the wonders of technology would save her, but typing everything wasn’t exactly efficient. Especially in the field. Hopefully Fury had something in mind to help with that.

Pulling up to the base was like entering a whole new world. She’d seen plenty of buildings like these on late night rides through DC, but the pristine buildings ahead of her managed to be far more intimidating than those ever had been. Given, she’d never gotten this close to those buildings before. She’d never had to think about walking into one, completely alone with the expectation that she’d be something worthwhile to these people. Fury wouldn’t have invited you if he didn’t believe you could be. She just needed to keep reminding herself of that. What she wouldn’t give to fast forward through introductions. Surely it’d be inappropriate to relate this to a first day at a new school, but she had no better way to put it. Finn and Liz would be laughing at her right about now, assuring her that she’d kick major booty. She missed them.

All this second guessing and missing people wasn’t helping. She came to a stop in the parking lot attached to the main building, kicking up the stand before shutting the vehicle off. She pulled the helmet off and shook out her ivory hair and, hopefully, her nerves. She left the heavy riding jacket, gloves, and helmet with her bike. On her way up she’d seen another girl on a gorgeous Harley. If she’d be quick friends with anyone, it’d be her fellow rider. Unable to call out to the blonde and ask her to wait up, she picked her pace up to a jog. It was while in pursuit of a potential friend that she realized, without a doubt, that they were definitely new around here. Suits and neatly arranged skirts surrounded them while she stood clad in black riding pants, a long white tank top with a devilish design, and boots that thudded heavily against the tile floor. At least they’d stick out together, she supposed. Once she finally caught up, she set a hand on the stranger’s shoulder and waved. She dug an old school slide phone out from one of her many pockets and typed something before flipping it around to show her.

“Came 4 the team meeting. Saw ur bike. It’s very nice!”

Sora had been fashionably and, what some might consider, excessively early to the first ever team meeting. She’d been in this building hundreds, maybe even thousands of times, but this time would be different. Years of working herself to the bone had finally bloomed into an even more exciting career. Sure, she promised herself she did what she did out of the goodness of it. Helping others, saving lives, it made her very proud. But who likes sitting stagnant in a position with very few ways to continue up the secret agent food chain? She sure as hell didn’t. She knew she could be more if given the chance, she just hadn’t expected Nick Fury to see that in her as well.

For once, she hadn’t dressed in SHIELD’s usual uniform. Today, she opted for a raglan style purple shirt beneath her brown leather jacket, jeans shorts on top of black leggings, and military issued boots. Maybe not her most fashion forward choice, but a practical one in case crap literally hit the fan. Thinking on it practically, who could really tell what kind of walking time bomb this team might turn into? Or, a more fair way of putting it, how quickly would it turn into that? She didn’t have a clue about who would be on said team other than her and that lack of knowledge left her mind buzzing with far too many possibilities.

Why wait to find out? She didn’t exactly feel like waiting on everyone else in a stuffy meeting room when she could enjoy the fresh air and watch her new comrades arrive? It might give her some peace of mind. She pulled down the tail gate of her truck and made herself comfortable in its bed. Sora watched the newcomers with intrigued glee. The first two women to rush inside the building seemed pretty average from her stand point, though there was no mistaking the third, more bubbly woman was a witch. Not one of those snooty, consequence obsessive ones who only used their magic when they deemed it absolutely necessary, much to Sora’s delight. She couldn’t wait to see who showed up next.

Jason Gluld was woken up that morning with Crowbarry acting as his internal alarm clock. At 6am sharp, a series of clanging noises echoed in the young man's brain. Jolting awake with his heary racing from the scare, Jason calmed down instantly onced he remembered what made the noise.
"Well, a fantastic morning to you, too, Barry!" Jason cheerily replied, hopping out of bed with the mystical crowbar in hand, like always.

This was a day of great importance for the both of them. This was the fateful day they prove themselves as the strongest crowbar themed heroes to the likes of S.H.I.E.L.D. and director Nick Fury. It felt like merely a week ago when a note slipped under the front door, bearing sybols and notary proving it's origins were in fact from SHIELD. Their presence would be requested at the SHIELD compound to partake in joining a soon to be created team of heros!

With the power of Crowbarry, the duo would be able to arrive at the SHIELD base in a matter of hours, so what was the rush? Crowbarry had to bid farewell to all its friends at Jason's original workplace where they met. Plastering a smile, Jason brought Crowbarry to each and every part of the store that held crowbars. All the clanging he heard in his mind did little to remove his joy; his eye did begin to twitch for a second, so Jason scratched what he assumed to be an itch.

Once the farewells were exchanged, Jason left the store, brandishing his partner high in the air. Crowbarry helped him point in the correct direction of SHIELD's base, as Jason began to swing the weapon. With a couple full circles of his arm, Jason aimed and jumped, being pulled along with Crowbarry at high speeds. "I think we have more style travelling like this than some guy with a silly hammer!" Jason joked, shouting thanks to the wind rushing past them. Barry's clanging laughter rang in Jason's ears; he was glad they had such a similar taste in comedy.

Upon touching down on the ground, their impact did no more than kick up dust. Crowbarry assured that damaging the grounds of their new organization's property would not serve as stellar first impressions. Thanking his companion for the foresight, Jason walked them towards the building, chatting up about the good skills and talent they'd be bringing to SHIELD. Of course, Jason being the only one able to hear his crowbar talk, he appeared to be a man comically talking to an inanimate object. Hooking the end of Barry around the front doorhandle, Jason opened the door and walked the two of them inside.

Finn sat atop the Great building, Vargr resting in his firmly clutched hand, watching the many faces that had entered the building a couple he knew One was a long time friend of his named Lala and another powerful being named Ali. There was also another man who has appeared and engaged In conversation with Lala a crowbars alongside him while Ali was approached by another. After the murder of an Asgardian representative Fin was very cautious with trusting the humans. After contemplation Finn realized he couldn’t be too safe holding his fathers hammer in his hand his blades sheathed on each hip, Finn was not looking for trouble in any kind of way but if it were to find him he would be prepared.

Finn hated Operating in groups, but from what he had seen already Fury was Fury was swinging for the fences with his recruiting, Lala, Ali, himself, was a team not even he could’ve imagined putting together, not to mention all the other members he hasn’t met. Leaping off of the building he landed with a thud just in front of the entrance, taking a deep breath flipping the head of his hammer onto his shoulder while holding the hilt with one hand as he walked through the doors of SHIELD. Looking around he followed the others a good distance behind them.

Pacing throughout the building he could feel the glance of the humans in their suits, sitting behind their computers “He has a. Cape just like Thor!” He heard someone say as he didn’t give response outside of the annoyed glare he shot the man. Talking in a deep breath discovering a newfound respect for Thor dealing with the humans as long as he had.

The looks she got as she walked around the entrance of the SHIELD compound might have made others blush but Ali was never one to care about the opinions of others. She was rather shameless and was more than happy to be dressed in her comfy ripped jeans and cropped band t-shirts rather than a suit or skit. Honestly, she had no idea how the regular SHIELD agents survived wearing suits and blazers all day. Her uncle at least had the luxury of working in the field and getting to dress as he likes. Catching one of the guards behind the desk looking at her she gave him a wink that caused him to look away. The little interaction made her chuckle and she continued her quest to find the meeting room.

The sudden sensation of contact on her shoulder might have made most people jump in surprise but Ali simply paused and turned around. “Oh, hi there!” She greeted with a return wave towards the white-haired girl who had reached out to her. For a moment the young powerhouse was a bit confused as to why the girl would get her attention only to jump onto her phone but the moment the screen was pointed her way it clicked. “Glad to see someone appreciates the classics!” Ali replied with a warm smile and a chuckle in her tone. “Do you ride too?” She asked wanting to make sure to be as engaging in this conversation as the other girl was because common interests were a great way to make friends. Plus, it helped that the young woman in front of her seemed to be genuinely friendly and chill. “Oh! I’m Ali by the way! What’s your name?” She blurted as she suddenly remembered she hadn’t even introduced herself yet or caught the other girl's name.

As she waited for her new friend to type out her replies Ali watched a few others arrive. There was one girl off in the distance watching others from the back of a truck tailgate, a definite mood Ali enjoyed. Another was a cute dark haired boy who was talking to a girl with pink hair. The young man certainly caught her eye due to the adorable smile on his face as he spoke to the girl in front of him. Instantly Ali was very interested in getting to know him better and hoped he was part of the new team as well. The pink-haired girl had a lot of energy which Ali felt she would be able to vibe with easily as she watched how the girl bounced around. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched another guy entering the building while seemingly talking to himself but Ali learned long ago that that didn’t always mean a person was insane. The guy was carrying a crowbar in his hand which was an interesting choice of weapon but Ali could appreciate the style so that certainly earned him points. Lastly, Ali spotted a familiar face at the doors of the building and smiled at her sparring partner from New Asguard. Finn seemed to notice her too and the two exchanged a look before Ali returned her full attention to her new friend just in time to read the text message.

The aid offered by a young man with kind eyes made Lala smile even wider as she nodded her head. “That would be great!” She sighed in relief and bounded over to him so the duo could walk together. As she made her way over Lala noticed the young man’s gaze seemed to flicker to another person entering the building and she turned to look as well. While the two of them stared Lala felt her heart race and instantly was grateful that life wasn’t like cartoons or else her eyes would be filled with hearts. This dark-haired stranger was one of the most beautiful women she had ever seen and she had no doubt she would make an absolute fool of herself if she tried talking to her. All the magic in the world would never make her good at flirting with pretty girls, not when her little lesbian brain seemed to short circuit the moment she opened her mouth.

“I’d be fine with that.” She replied to the guy beside her thoughtlessly when she heard his comment about the girl having a gaze that could kill. Her eyes went wide and she instantly looked back at the dude beside her with embarrassment painted across her face. “And now I’ve said too much and everything is weird and I might need to fake my own death.” She spiraled as she went even further into the depths of social awkwardness. The guy that she could only assume was one of her future teammates didn’t seem to mind her weirdness too much and for that she was grateful as he ushered her along with him to find the meeting room. He introduced himself as Rafe, a unique name that she found she enjoyed the sound of. “Rafe? That’s an amazing name! I love it! You look like a Rafe for sure!” She gushed happily and then remembered it was polite to answer his question about her own name. “Oh! I’m Lala! Well actually my name is Laurel but everyone has always called me Lala and I feel like it fits me better than Laurel which sounds too professional and like a lawyer or real estate agent whereas Lala sounds like, well, me!” She introduced herself, rambling as she tended to do. “That was probably more of an explanation than you needed though.” She added at the end with an apologetic glance.

As they walked Rafe asked her if she thought all those attending would be a team together or if they would be split into smaller teams. She thought for a moment before smiling and turning to talk to him while walking backward. “It could honestly be both!” She replied happily. “Like we all work together as a large team but when certain missions call for it we are split up into pairs that complement one another? Sort of to balance it out or better fit missions?” She suggested as she added a little skip to her backward steps. “I wonder if everyone on the team will have powers? Do you?” She inquired eagerly, her smile warm and genuine.

Kenna hadn’t really been expecting her escort to attempt to strike up a conversation with her as they walked behind the director. It took a second for her to process it as she snapped her senses back to focus on her near surroundings instead of here and far off. Glancing over at Jester her expression never shifted from anything other than neutral and rather emotionless making her look more like the machine rather than him. For a minute she pondered all the words he had spewed at her and looked on ahead of her rather than at him. She did not realize if her pause seemed too long, too rude, or too much of anything but when she was ready to speak several long seconds had passed by.

“The director did inform me of your identification before exposing us to one another.” She replied rather bluntly and with little emotion. Her gaze never shifted to him as they spoke but rather stayed focused on the path ahead, something that she once again didn’t realize could be considered rude and did because she had been trained to always be aware of her surroundings. “Our meeting was by the design of Director Fury so I will agree that it is likely a beneficial one.” She added in response to him telling her how nice it is to meet her. That felt like an odd thing for him to say and she doubted the rest of those present would feel the same. Some might not recognize her but once they found out who she was and what she had done she had no illusions about being invited to team bonding events. Truthfully she had her doubts about how well thought out it was to put her on a team meant to replace the Avengers. She was far from a hero and the only teams she had ever worked with in the past were through Hydra and they were far from heroic. Instantly a stab of pain bore its way into her heart as she thought of her sister. She knew somewhere out there Nix was still a puppet to Hydra and she knew that one day they would have to meet again and only one of them would be left standing. Her sister was too far gone. She had already tried to reach out to her once and knew well enough now that Nix was beyond saving and so because she loves her Kenna will have to one day stop her for good.

The questions about her tattoos was an interesting one but left Kenna having to remember a deep pain she carried with her every second of every day. “I did not obtain my markings in the classical sense.” She replied after a moment. “But if you must know, the procedure I went through to awaken them brought about the worst pain I have ever felt.” She stated with a finality that signaled she did not wish to delve deeper into that topic. The process she underwent to force her mutation involved days of torture in the most grueling ways imaginable. The pain had never been surpassed in the years since and she had great doubts that it ever would. The injection of the serum alone had made her feel like every cell within her body was burning over and over again, never numbing to the flame but restoring itself only to catch fire again and again.

Well, thus far this stranger didn’t seem too displeased with her lack of speech, her very hands on contact, or the time it usually took for her to get a sentence out. At the mention of enjoying the classics and riding, she nodded enthusiastically. As if to further her point, she patted the semi padded pants she wore. Had she spotted the blonde stranger any later, she never would have imagined she rode given how little protection she wore. For a moment she thought to question it, but in the epicenter of powerful people? It didn’t seem all that strange. Whatever ability she possessed, clearly it made riding in street clothes no big deal. She couldn’t imagine going without her protective gear even if she knew she’d be immune to the potential consequences.

While she typed, she kept her eyes on their surroundings. Looking back towards the doors leading into the building, she started to notice a pattern. One that made identifying her new teammates incredibly easy. None of them looked like they belonged. At least they’d look out of place together. With a soft giggle, she wondered if the Avengers had ever felt this way while working with SHIELD. The pink haired girl caught her eye the most, mostly because of her brightly colored everything. In the light of the sun, it must have been blinding. She also noticed the heavily tattooed man her new friend seemed to know.

She turned her attention back to her screen to check for spelling errors before flipping it over to show her. “Aeryn, pronounced like Erin. Nice to meet u!” She gave the girl a moment to read it over before searching through the photos on her phone. She presented a picture of her bike for Ali to see, letting the woman take her phone while she gestured for them to keep walking. Being late wouldn’t make a great first impression and she certainly didn’t want to be the reason they were. As much fun as it would be to ditch the meeting and go on a ride with her, she knew there’d be plenty of time for it later. Once Ali passed her phone back, she typed out another response. “Do u know many people here? I’m totally lost.”

OLIVER KIM - MERCURY (Speedster)

Oliver spilled out of his apartment about seven minutes before the meeting was supposed to happen. His pants were barely on, and his sneakers were in his hand. He bounced up and down as he jostled with the button. Then, he took a brief pause to tie his shoes - god, this was slow. After rushing down four stories, Oliver realized that he had forgotten his phone back in his apartment. Hell, he hadn't even shut the door. He sprinted back up four stories, snatched his phone from his desk, then slammed the door shut. It would lock automatically, so Oliver just sprinted the hell out of the building again.

This took about two seconds.

Oliver normally would've worried about keeping his mask on while he zipped around, but ever since Nick Fury's little invitation showed up at his door, he realized that the government knew who Mercury was - and was interested in keeping the secret. And plus, at this speed, nobody could see Oliver's face anyway. Oliver rolled his shoulder real quick as a brief little stretch before barreling up 8th Avenue.

When he was "in flow" like this, everything glowed an iridescent shade of cyan. He always trailed a stream of cyan lights when he was in flow, so that made sense. Hey, just like Quicksilver!

In that brief moment of distraction, Oliver collided into a cab. The young man tumbled at extremely high speeds for about three blocks before he caught himself, completely unharmed. There was a small dent in the back of the cab, but nothing major.

"Sorry!" he said briefly to the taxi driver who had no way of hearing him, before he shot down Broadway.

The run through upstate was uneventful. Oliver tried to minimize his high-speed collisions to one a day. Of course, he was extra in a rush because he didn't want to be late for the great Nick Fury. Hey, Oliver wondered, I wonder if he's chill about people being late.

As Oliver slid to a stop in front of the Avengers Compound, waiting for the automatic door to open, he bounced on the spot. God, he hated automatic doors. They were so SLOW.

Who was Oliver kidding? Nick Fury absolutely wouldn't be chill about people being late.

Somewhere in that jumble of thoughts, the automatic door finally opened just enough for Oliver to squeak his fingers through. While he was in flow like this, time moved exponentially slowly, so it seemed to take minutes just for the door to open a crack. Hey, at least he could slip through - last time he broke an automatic door, police were chasing him around. And it certainly wouldn't do to literally break down the Avengers Compound's front doors.

Finally! The door was open enough for him to fully squeeze past. Oliver zipped through, rushing up the stairs and barreling into the meeting room. He saw a crowd of other young people around him. Oh my god oh my god they must have powers too!

Oliver grinned at them, panting. He checked his watch. "Sorry, I'm not late, am I?"

Rafe couldn’t help but chuckle at how playful and vibrant this girl was. She was like the walking version of an energy drink or a double shot of espresso. It was fun seeing her go through several emotions at once and then seeing her turn bright pink when she commented about the raven haired female. “Well why don’t you go for it? We only live once well most of us only live once so you might as well give it a shot. Besides seeing a bright vibrant happy person with a dark deadly looking partner is always fun.”he said with a wink mainly teasing about the last part. “Honestly though we are all going to be working together one day. So I don’t see any harm in you at least trying to know her. It might lead to more if not at least you’ll have a friend.”he said warmly wanting to encourage her some. He had seen many friends chicken out and miss out on chances. He himself wasn’t like that he was pretty confident in himself and knew what he wanted in life.

“I’m glad you like my name. Your names interesting I don’t hear the name Laurel very often I think it fits you just as much as Lala does. Your name is unique just like you and that’s always a good thing. I’m so tired of seeing people be something that they’re not.”Rafe said his eyes darkening for a moment. The thoughts of his mother and how she had hidden her true form all those years intruded on his mind for a moment. Then the bubbly energy of Lala brought him back to the moment.”Also don’t apologize it’s nice having someone like you who’s full of energy. Honestly now it’s made me motivated seeing how full of energy you are.”he said kindly having seen her get flustered about her energy. Rafe noticed a few others walking past now another guy then there seemed to be someone chilling near the meeting room door. There looks all varied greatly some of them were dressed vibrant like Lala, the one dude reminded him of Thor a bit, the raven haired female earlier had been dressed to impress in black. It would be interesting to see what they were like personality wise.

“That’s true I’m sure we will be split up some times for missions that only need one or two people. The more stealthy type missions then others might require all of us.”Rafe said not sure what would actually happen with all of them. “Oh man yeah I’m sure there are gonna be plenty of people with powers. I saw a little of what you could do but I’m not sure what it is exactly.”he said looking at her curious then heard her question about if he had powers or not.”Ah yes let me show you.”he said then grinned. He cupped his hands for a moment then opened them to reveal a figure of Lala in ice form. “I have ice manipulation powers. I’m able to create it out of thin air and such though I’m honestly not sure of my full abilities yet.”he said as he offered the small ice figure to her so she could look it over.

Jason and Crowbarry chatted to each other, traipsing through the lobby without paying much mind to the other people; even those staring at them. The clanging ringing in Jason's ears nearly drowned out the voice of a receptionist inquiring about their visit. "We're here for Mr. Fury!" Jason shouted; to him, doing so to talk over Barry, yet it seemed unwarranted since no one else could hear the weapon speak.

Thankfully, they were hastily directed the right way; mostly, just so the odd duo could be out of that area as quickly as possible. Jason was stoked to meet his soon to be new work colleagues, imagining how it must be to have super powered acquaintances. "Surely, even the Avengers mostly got along." He reassured Barry, who seemed less than optimistic. A whole host of characters means a ton of differing views and personalities. If they happened to tick off even one person, it could spell trouble for the team's cohesion as a whole. Yet, Jason was sure Barry just wasn't as ready to work so closely with more humans as he was. He was certain if it was a team of crowbars, Barry would be fine with it.

"If we're lucky, maybe they'll be open to helping the crowbar populace, too." Jason pondered. "That will definitely help you open up to them." Jason moved Barry back and forth, it being the way the crowbar nodded in agreement.

At the meeting room, from the inside, the door slightly opened for the front end of a crowbar to slip through. It turned as if it was looking around, quickly slipping back out. Jason then barged on, glad that Barry wasn't uneasy from taking a glance at the people inside. "Sorry we're late. Traffic can be quite a hassle this time of day." He joked, taking a seat and holding Barry up to see the new team.

An alarm pierced a dimly lit room. Within the first five seconds, Odori shot up, her hand over her chest. Her breathing was heavy, every breath a pain to take. “Fuck,” she muttered, her head shaking as she swung her feet around the bed.

Her breathing slowed as she stood up. Wandering over to the edge of the room, she flicked on the lights. As she backed herself up to the bed, she plopped down, glancing down to her body. She was still in gear from the night before, her black joggers stained with dried blood and ripped from the few tumbles she took. Her turtleneck sweater was still on as well as the harnesses. Her sneakers were still around her feet, scuffed at the heel with specks of gravel and dirt at the edge of the bed. The only thing she managed to take off before passing out was the yellow jacket at the side, her pistol and its holster on the dresser with the katana and tanto next to it.

Though, she still had the day to get through. Today was the day she became the next generation of Earth’s mightiest heroes. An Avenger. Was it still worth it? Probably not. Though, maybe it would be something she would have wanted for her. Standing up, she wandered out of the room, heading off to wash the dried blood from her hands and the grime in her hair.

A few moments pass before Odori comes back into the room. Tossing the clothes at the edge of the bed, she wandered over to the dresser. Opening up on the drawers, she threw on a pair of gloves, fastening the straps. As she strapped on the left glove, she felt the outline of a ring on her ring finger. After the gloves were tightened, she ran her hand up her forearm, glancing down to the tattoo of a woman. A sigh was let out, her head nodding before she continued to run through the other drawers. Stripping down to her undergarments, she threw on a fresh pair of cargo pants. Her turtleneck was thrown on, concealing her tattooed arms and the one geometric fox on her neck. Over it, her harnesses were thrown on, strapped snuggly.

“Uh…pistol…blades…ah!” She rushed off to the closet, grabbing a new black jacket. Setting the jacket on the dresser, the pistol was picked up. The magazine was ejected out of the slide, inspected before loaded again. She tucked the pistol into her holster before her jacket was put on.

Her katana was finally picked up. It was strapped to her hips, snuggly secured to the strap that dangled from her harness. The tanto was later secured, snugged with the two pieces of cloth that clung to her belt. Finally, she was ready to be the misfit hero she was expected to be.

Stepping out of the room, she stopped as she entered the living room. She turned to the table off to the side, her kitsune mask resting atop. She approached, picking up the mask. “Fuck me.” It has been six years, yet it was still never easy to put on the mask.

With one rub of the nose, she flipped the mask around, becoming Torik. Glancing down to her equipment one last time, she nodded before heading towards the window.

She propped it open, crawling out before closing it behind her as she perched on the edge of the fire escape. Her eyes surveyed the area, the streets empty with not a single soul in her view. Though, a new exit strategy may be necessary soon. For it would be soon enough that someone above would be stepping out for a smoke or someone down the street would see the kitsune mask staring at them.

Pulling out her player, she threw her music on shuffle. A smile creased her face as the first song was played. Tucking it away, she stood up, launching herself off the escape as the first verse began, “Fuck you; Fuck all your friends.”

She blinked through the air, the red aura trailing behind her as she landed on the building across. The gravel crunched beneath her as loose specks were tossed behind her.

Twenty minutes passed since she left the apartment. Her run finally concluded as she was on the outskirts of the SHIELD base. She stopped at the last building she could traverse, her head shaking as she perched at the edge. “Fuck. I should have brought a bike.” She glanced around, looking for a way to get in without having to get down to street level and join the pedestrians.

After a few moments, an opening presented itself. She descended the building, hurrying across the street before blinking onto the premises. She jogged across the driveway, hurrying into the building.

As she entered, she glanced around, her head nodding as she appraoched the front. “Uh…I’m here for–” she cut herself off, her gaze catching onto a man wandering through with a crowbar, disappearing behind a door. “Uh…I think that’s me.” A smile creased her face, her head nodding to the receptionist before she wandered off.

Just before entering the room, she glanced over to the guard standing nearby. She looked them down, her head nodding in acknowledgement. She pointed to the door, before flashing a thumbs up as she entered the room.

As she entered the room, she glanced around to everyone present. She was practically the odd one out, kitted out as she was about to go on a mission that instance. Her masked face concealed her identity while everyone around seemed to care less about their identities. She shrugged her shoulders before wandering over to an open seat, a few spaces away from the man that she followed in.

Plopping down, she crossed her leg over, leaning back in the seat. She glanced over to the man, her head nodding to him before her eyes glanced down to the crowbar next to him. “Cool crowbar.” Her voice had a low and mellow tone.

    no one in particular
The last three minutes of the twins' car journey have consisted of Liam trying to give his sister a pep talk, as he had been doing off and on for the last few days. However, instead of acknowledging him at all, she's taken to ignoring him completely. This seemed to aggravate him even more, so he had taken to repeatedly poking her.

Ass. What, is she supposed to be pleased about this? She was expecting to finally be able to see her father again, and then they were forced into being like, avengers? Yeah, that's gonna work out well. Two people whose only life skills revolve around stealing are suddenly supposed to know how to like, be good people? Seems like the set up to some bad hulu show that gets way too many seasons.

Rolling her eyes at her brother's insistence, she steps out of the car and walks in, knowing Liam would follow her, nagging all the way along. She's perfected the art of ignoring the little shit. As they enter the meeting room, she roughly nudges him in the ribs, trying to get him to shut up. Finally, it works.

Putting on the bitch face she has perfected, Violet settles in to a chair, slumps, and crosses her arms. Bitch mode activated.

OLIVER KIM - MERCURY (Speedster)
Mentions: Jason, Odori, Rafe (brief)

Oliver looked around the room with awe. There were so many people here already. Hell, he was pretty sure they already outnumbered any other Avengers roster in the past. Slowly, but surely, imposter's syndrome was sneaking up on him - which was incredibly silly, because he was incredibly powerful. Super speed was no joke. In fact, Oliver didn't even need to really strain himself to stop most crimes, so he put in not nearly as much work as the rest of these people-

Ngah. Don't think about that.

Oliver slinked past some people to sit at the table. The others were already talking to each other. Some dude in the corner just casually made an ice sculpture of the person he was talking to. Ugh, was he already flirting with someone? Using his powers? Cheap. But effective, Oliver noted to himself, already thinking of some super-speed hijinx that could be a good icebreaker.

Because he sorely needed one. He didn't have anyone to talk to. Next to him, a person in full tactical gear - some real Damage Control tech - was talking to someone with a... crowbar.

"Yeah," Oliver said, butting in, "Nice crowbar. Is it... is it like a special crowbar? Or do you just... walk around holding a crowbar? Not judging! It's a-a-a nice crowbar."

Oliver cleared his throat, turning to the two of them.

"Sorry. Oliver Kim. It's nice to meet you. Uh... were we supposed to be combat-ready?" Oliver pointed at Odori. "'Cause I didn't bring my super-suit or anything. I just kinda... came. Here."

Jester knew his unlikely companion had been through quite a bit of conditioning with Hydra, as most who managed to separate themselves from the hold of the enemy were. He, at least, would have thought that they would teach her how to blend into modern society. The way she spoke sounded at least a hundred years too formal. “You sound like I used to, providing predetermined answers to predictable questions. It certainly won’t help you sway a crowd in your favor.” He paused mentally, wondering if it were too bold of an assumption to think she intended her endeavors to be peaceful at all. Even if she had no intention of trying to remedy the elephant in the room, he could at least make some suggestions to her in hopes that even the tiniest part of her wanted to change.

Though, what advice could he really give her? Breaking code had been easy. His experiences triggered a paradox in his coding that caused a few lines to rewrite themselves. One thing led to another and, wouldn’t you know it, Tony himself probably wouldn’t have recognized the script. The human mind had always seemed quite similar in theory, but in practice? It seemed to be a very complex organ indeed. Changing in the most fundamental of ways for even the most mild of trumas. He’d have to do more digging to see what he might be able to help her with. It seemed, quite unintentionally, he’d stirred some of that pesky trauma for the woman. He gave her a sympathetic nod. “Apologies for bringing it up then. It was never my intention to make this unpleasant for you.”

Once his mind started on a problem, with or without prompting for aid, he couldn’t simply set it aside. As much as he would’ve rather started up a dull conversation about the weather or other such things, he’d go mad if he didn’t explain what he’d been thinking. He alone wouldn’t be enough to convince the team that they could trust her and, on the distant track she was on currently, she wouldn’t do much convincing either. ”If I may offer some advice, miss,” he started, pausing to consider how to put it lightly. Perhaps she would appreciate it if he just came out and said it. “I am capable of quite a bit, but I can’t force them to get along with you. Hell, you won’t even speak to ME like we’re allies rather than… Well, robots completing a task.” He shrugged. “It wouldn’t hurt to be REAL with them. Maybe not entirely honest, but sincere enough that they second guess their first impressions. If you want to make friends in a room of enemies, it doesn’t hurt to let them think you’re human. Or, at least, someone they can sympathize with. But, what would I know? I’m just a robot, according to most people.”

The raven haired woman had seen enough of her new team to feel content with her observations. Between the stranger with the crowbar, the lively duo still on their way inside the building, and the many others who’d passed them up, she felt relatively sure she had nothing to worry about… For now. Besides, the last thing she needed was for Fury to question whether he’d made the right choice with her by being late. She hopped down from the truck bed and slammed it closed, seemingly a bit harder than necessary. The damn thing needed new latches, she just hadn’t had the time to swap them out. If no one wound up killing each other today, she might even con someone into helping her. She locked her doors and stored the key in her jacket pocket. She gave herself a quick once over with the side mirror before leaving her vehicle for the first steps into her future.

While she hadn’t been intending to eavesdrop on the conversation between her new teammates, she caught the tail end of the man’s words regarding ‘stealthy missions’. She may not have any super cool powers to flaunt to these two, but her ability to slink about like a shadow had always been a point of pride for the young woman. She cleared her throat as she approached, letting her hands rest idly in her pockets. “Kind of feels like a show and tell on the first day of school, eh? Having ice powers sounds pretty COOL.” She joked, stepping up beside the two with a friendly smile.

The duo seemed so casual in a place that conducted such serious business. She would’ve been just as pleased to have met them out on one of her days off, though the likelihood of their paths crossing seemed scarce at best under different circumstances. Then again, most people with mutations, magic, or whatever else may seriously alter someone’s life usually encountered SHIELD. At least this time things were pleasant and lacked the usual ‘I’m here to bring about the end of the world’ BS she came to expect. “Name’s Sora, by the way. I’ve worked here for quite a while so I’m happy to give directions. If you need it, of course. You guys seem quite capable on your own.”

Poppy listened hearing what seemed to be two people commenting on her appearance. A small smirk gracing her lips the one said she looked like she could kill while the other commented about not minding that. She listened a bit longer wanting to find an opening to join them since they were all bound to be team mates anyway. Her gaze flicked over seeing them having stopped the man showing the brightly colored female something. She noticed the man’s eyes glow an icy blue for a moment before he opened his hands revealing a ice figure of the pretty pink haired female. That was pretty impressive and also very revealing about his abilities she took note of them then felt a ripple of surprise course through her. A sudden appearance caught her off guard and that was very rare she usually didn’t miss anything, but this female had slipped into the conversation from the shadows with ease. Her tone seemed friendly as she joked with the two who seemed equally as startled by her sudden appearance.

This would be the perfect time to head over so she moved closer flicking her black hair back off her shoulders. “That was quite the ice breaker.” She joked as well towards Sora then looked at the black haired male and vibrant beauty. “I guess we all better head in before Fury gets his panties in a bunch.”she joked then smiled hearing Sora’s offer for help.”Honestly that would probably be best. I’ve been here once before, but I’d rather not get lost.”she said then flicked her gaze towards Lala.”Oh by the way I’m Poppy and I could take you out though it would be on a date.”she said with a wink letting on a little about having heard her and Rafe talking earlier. Poppy had no problems with being charming or a flirt when she liked someone she liked them. It was a reason why Randi and her got along so well both females were similar in many ways despite looking completely different. There was Poppy with jet black hair and always in some type of black outfit. While Randi was a pretty blonde with warmer outfits most the time plus she was always a whirlwind due to her powers.

Her comment met with a simple nod, Torik returned the gesture, her shoulders shrugging as she faced front. A quick scratch under her turtleneck revealed to her an error in her wardrobe, her voice modulator. “Shit,” she muttered, fixing it before more people would come to know her true voice.

As she fixed it, another joined the trio, following her comment on the crowbar. A chuckle followed, deeper and heavily distorted. She nodded as she glanced down to the crowbar once more. “Regardless, it is a nice one. I’d carry one just for the occasional B&E.” B&E, her favorite pastime prior to the incident. Never knew what one house or apartment may carry. Might be a load of cash, jewels, or even some spicy DVD sets.

The distortion in full effect, Torik took her hand out of her turtleneck, a piece of a neck tattoo just visible to the keen eye.

Resting her hand on her lap, the other person that just joined them began to introduce himself as Oliver Kim. She turned to him, her head tilting, the name did strike a nerve. Her eyes twitched under her mask, repeating his name, “Oliver?” Let’s hope this one wasn’t an asshole like the Oliver she was familiar with. “Well, Torik,” she followed, her head nodding to Oliver.

She turned again, facing forward expecting introductions to be kept short. However, before she could take in the silence with the ambiance of the others, Oliver turned an interest to the fact that she was kitted out. She glanced down, her hands shrugging before they returned to her lap. “Super-suit? This is just my day to day outfit.” It may as well be given she bought everything online at a discount. The only creative measure being her mask and its design.

Though, she couldn’t help but be confused by the unpreparedness shown by not just Oliver, but by everyone standing in that room. Had she not known any better, she might have associated this with your standard school orientation or a group of coworkers in a breakroom. “Might want to start showing up in one,” Torik followed. “Never know when shit might hit the fan. Even on orientation day like today.” A chuckle followed as she kicked her feet out on the table in front, her arms crossing, “Or to keep me from being the odd one out.”

Jason and Barry were hasty for this meeting to get started. In just a matter of time, Nick Fury would come out of wherever he hid and address everyone here. It was guaranteed that he would go for jargon on teamwork and doing good for the world; topics which Barry wasn't as knowledgeable about as Jason. The crowbar wielder had taught the tool much about the world ever since the two linked up, with still more left to learn. It isn't easy repeating all of the world's history and how everything operates to a crowbar; there was much research and presentation utilized, at least.

It may have even seemed a little rude that the pair took up two chairs. It seems completely normal to Jason; Barry was more like a person that just a tool. Yet, this was a fact Jason would have to face: other people will not see it that way. Barry appears as a normal crowbar, plain and simple.

At the very least, people may find Barry interesting. That turned out to be true for the moment, as Jadon and Barry were talked to by two individuals that would be on the same team as them. Two people, a man and woman, who the pair did not know the names of, expressed interest in Barry. The crowbard would blush if it could, not ever having people acknowledge how cool it is. All the times The Leverage saved people or stopped a criminal, the recognition and reputation was all Jason's.

"Thanks guys." Jason turned to each of them. "His name's Barry and we're partners in the name of justice!" Jason outwardly beamed at the excitement he stated that with. "Mjolnir ain't got nothing on my friend here. Indestructible and can apply any amount of force with each strike whenever he wants." Jason would be more than willing to give a full rundown of their skills, but Barry made sure he knew that explaining every aspect of their strength would be tactivally foolish and even boring to others.
