50 years after the great war started by the Fire Nation. Peace has finally settled upon the four nations, Although tensions are still rather high. Many still don't trust the Firebenders, and a few extremist groups still exist in the Fire Nation that still hold themselves as the rightful rulers of all the kingdoms. Into this quiet yet intense tension comes a whole new nation of Benders from a faraway, undiscovered island; The Light Benders. At first, they seemed to be peaceful people, With a rich culture and a passion for learning. But eventually, Cunning generals and nobles began to learn more about the trauma that the war left behind, And began turning the nations against each other all over again. Now it is up to the next Avatar to unite all five nations and learn a whole new power that none of their predecessors even knew existed. Miyuki tiredly trudged down the windy rough streets of Ba Sing Se, Hoisting her bag of equipment upon her shoulder she genuinely regretted not bringing a tundra tank with her. Even if it blew her cover. Tensions were high since last month a war broke out between all five nations...Again. And she knew, Deep down...She'd be called on to save everyone. But how? She's spent so long running from the very title that would soon take over her life. How could she just throw herself into the middle of a war? Taking a heavy sigh to calm her nerves she looked up and saw a dangling wooden sign. Moonstar Bar, "It'll do." Miyuki rolled her eyes as she pushed open the door to the bar, Some men and a few women turned to her with confused looks. Probably the get-up, She plopped down on a chair and ordered a simple green tea.

After receiving her green tea, She cautiously sat down her bag in a secure spot. Taking the cup and taking a long sip, Feeling her once scratchy throat soothe in seconds she felt relieved, "Guess I can't run forever." Miyuki chuckled to herself, Taking a moment to open her order scroll she re-read the terms. "A few tundra tank parts and a drill part to spare. An expensive order too...I wonder what the Earth Kingdom has planned." Miyuki whispered to herself. Who was she kidding anyway, The world was about to go into all-out war, It was probably for some weaponry. Taking another gulp from her Green Tea she closed the scroll and hid it, Throwing her bag back on her shoulder she took a moment to think.

TAWK

A straw hat tilted over Tawk's eyes. The boat swayed on the water, and he leaned across the edge. Green water lashed at the hull and sunlight reflected off its surface. Tawk and the rest of the crew made three trips or more across the lake a day. They ferried supplies like furniture, food or tea, and fabric. Or sometimes, Tawk glanced askance at the large man sitting in a corner, people. Tawk had worked as a laborer for this ship, and for his Earth Nation employer for two months. He woke up before dawn and didn't get to go home until after dusk, with maybe one or two days off the entire time he worked.

Maybe leaving the swamp had been a bad idea. The Nations were at war, which horribly derailed his plans of traveling to the Fire Nation to get an education. Tawk gained a reputation of being handy during the horrible seasonal storms which sometimes racked the lake. His usefulness to the crew made up for the fact that he didn't wear shoes or a shirt most of the time, and he barely spoke unless spoken to.

Someone screamed. Tawk perked up and turned, searching for the source of the wail. Mona, the youngest but most experienced woman on the ship, pointed to the man sitting in the corner. The tag-along. There was a Spider-frog perching right in front of him. It croaked and then wiggled its long legs.

Tawk strode over and picked up the spider-frog. It climbed over his hand and across his palm. "Hello, 'lil guy," Tawk said, bringing it close to his chest. The man was still screaming. Tawk protectively turned his body away from the man.

"Squish it, squish it," the Earth Nation villager protested, trembling. For some reason, people outside of the swamp hated the creepy crawly type of creatures. They were totally intolerant of them.

Tawk narrowed his eyes and walked the spider-frog over toward the barrels of supplies. He let it free, and it quickly scurried off. There was a red bump on his finger that quickly began to itch. He scratched it. The ship quickly approached the port on the far side of the bank. This was the second trip of the day. At least, after unloading the shipment, he would be able to get lunch.

The eldest daughter of the Light Emperor stood alone on the beach, a few steps away from the bustling docks, looking out at the gray horizon nervously. Citlalli shifted her weight from foot to foot, squeezing her bare toes into the sand, taking in the feeling of land under her feet while she still could. The sea was calm... For now. But that didn’t make her any less anxious about the voyage. She tore her eyes away from the water and faced the city behind her instead to keep herself from thinking about spontaneously appearing whirlpools. She’d never liked sailing, it had always made her stomach churn. But maybe that wasn't what was eating at her...

"Your excellency?" A sudden voice snapped her out of her daze. She looked up to she the cargo manager of the ship she'd be traveling on. Behind him were a pair of carriers covered from head to toe in thick leather and metal, each of them carrying a large metal crate. "We need your bending expertise. Our plasma stores are resfuing to cooperate. We can't get for enough for the voyage into our stores."

Citlalli smiled and nodded, holding the palms of her hands out facing the sky. The skin on her hands had hardened into a sort of thick pad like on a wolf's paw, layers of scars burned in and healed and new scars burned in on top of them. All she had to do was face in the direction of the nearby and she was able to draw the white-hot liquid out into the open with forceful yet precision moments. The plasma was drawn to her palms like magnets, and it clung to her skin. She gritted her teeth against the pain and formed her hands into fists, and with strong punches, she was able to direct the plasma wherever she wanted it to go. As soon as she'd filled the crates the carriers were holding and they'd been securely closed, she thrust her burning hands into the nearby sea. Her skin, which had almost seemed to glow like a blacksmith's hammer, cooled off and most of the pain died down, though her skin was still tender. The carriers thanked her and went back to their duties, probably afraid of doing something that'd get them killed if they stuck around for too long. Before they left, she unwrapped her trusty flail from it's latch on her belt and filled the sphere-shaped container at the end with a little bit of extra plasma, like she always did. It gave her a useful advantage in combat.

The boat would be ready to disembark soon. Citlalli went back to looking out at the horizon, fiddling absentmindedly with a ray of sunshine, paying just enough attention to keep it from singeing her fingers.

Hati water tribe exile

Ba Sin Se the city of walls, the unconquered, a really big city that was stupidly easy to get lost in. Really Hati did wonder how anything got done in a city that was more like a labyrinth than anything. The city was almost a country by itself able to be self sufficient having out lasted the hundred years war with only 1 true breach of it's great walls. Still walls that could stop armies could not stop a single evil from entering the city if it didn't come with banner held high and bold proclamations. Hati had simply had to fill out paperwork and know who to talk to, it was no different from entering any other city in any other kingdom. Hati was getting tired of wandering and figured a good drink could serve her well , if not in finding some place to stay then at least in terms of letting her shout and yell at people. The bar she picked wasn't that kind of bar the Moonstone bar was no dive bar where fights broke out and pipes were passed around to all willing. That was the place for a wandering bounty hunter among the scum that she might one day hunt. Still Hati guessed it would do even if it was a little to high class meaning the drink would be a bit more expensive.

Heading into the bar, there was a sea of greens, the normal earth nations colors, while hers were deep browns and a marron red not really matching the colors of any normal national regalia. There was one girl sitting alone that seemed slightly out of place among the others. it was nothing she drank or anything she wore, but the way she held herself, with a local there was an ease and relaxation from long hard work and familiarity. This girl however didn't have the same posture if anything it seemed better than your average joe. Her hair also seemed a little to dark. While there were plenty of black hair people in ba sing se most were second generation immigrants and their black hair had some brown to it. Was this girl a new arrival, or perhaps a traveler? Well there was one way to find out.

Hati Walked to the table the girl was ant and sat down uninvited deciding to take a guess at to what the girl was doing here in the city " I rarely meet a fellow traveler in this city so where are you heading?" Hati asked in a friendly nonchalant attitude completely ignoring she was being rude. Hati had guessed traveler only because of the slight difference in posture that a newly arrived immigrant would not have.

Miyuki idley sat at the bar, Despite the rusted constantly creaking stool alongside the gossiping women of the local golden clubs or the bartender who keeps trying his best at a flirtatious quip every five minutes- She felt...Relaxed. Taking another sip of the warmed green tea that held small chopped herbs in the cup she heard the wooden door creak open and in walked a woman.

She had an aura of bravery and confidence, Miyuki overlooked her out of her peripheral vision. A flowing red and black skirt with a tube-like top to match...She definitely wasn't an Earth Kingdom Native. And albeit her color palette of something fire nation approved. She clearly wasn't a fire nation native either.

Miyuki turned the other cheek as the woman noticed her and approached her just as quickly. The woman picked up on Miyuki's journey, Which of course. She looked nothing like a Ba Sing Se commoner...Followed up with a more bold question of where she was heading. Tsk.

Miyuki kept a small smile yet stern posture as she crossed her legs and turned to the woman. "It's..surprising at the least, To see more traveler's yes." Miyuki gave the woman a light-hearted chuckle. "Well that defeats the purpose of mystery, Now does it?" Miyuki added, Of course she wasn't telling a complete stranger on where she was heading nor her delivery.

Keeping a firm grip on her closed delivery satchel. Miyuki continued, "And yourself?" She asked..mildly curious of the woman's sudden pop-up.

Nahuatl

Nahuatl watched the princess make the last preparations of her journey, watching her display of her powers with more than a little pride. He had always thought Nahuatl was one of the most capable of royal siblings, he even suspected she could overtake her late father. He had overseen her training alongside her father and showed her a few techniques and thought he did treat her like a common soldier most of the time, he had to admit he had a soft spot for her. So much so he had included her in his plans rather than getting rid of her as he suspected he had to do. He worked on having her betrothed to his son to secure his and his son's position when's he took the throne.

Unfortunately with his son'death, he had to change his plans. He needed to consider the position now and so his focus had to be on Kokoxki's son. This made her a threat to his plans now but to kill her would be wasteful and rather avoided unless there was another choice. This trip would helpfully get rid over her to work things to his daughters favour or maybe even the trip might distract Citlalli to another path perhaps though he would not trust in it.

He took a deep breath and finally made his way to her side and see her off. "Soldier! Did i see you grid your teeth at some basic plasma manipulation?" He said speaking like a disapproving commanding officer seeing a soldier fail in practice. In truth her technique was pretty text book and this was an attempt at teasing. "Are you showing weakness in your control of your plasma?!"

Hati smirked as the woman played mysterious, but gave it away by clutching the satchel. So she was a delivery girl, a very fancy one it seemed, so what she was delivery likely cost a lot. This to Hati meant things like jewelry and documents nothing that Hati really would care to know about. Still the fun part of a mystery was solving it and one only played mysterious if you wanted them to be interested, that or you really had something to hide. Hati tried not to play the mystery, but she was one none the less, because she had plenty to hide. Still she had a cute girl before her and that was more than enough to keep her from dwelling on the dark past.

" Oh being mysterious, just trying to get me more interested in you, well you don't need any games cutie" Hati said not picking between guys and girls and this girl was rather cute. Also it as a bit fun to flirt with people from time to time.

The topic of where she was going, was an easy one, wherever she wanted. Hati had no real goals or commitments, no family, not home, she was free. Still that kind of life could be empty f if you didn't have something to amuse yourself with. Hati filled that void with combat or vice. It was not exactly the best life, but it was better than where she had come from and she had met many people in that time. So it all balanced out and she couldn't complain about it.

" Oh I wander here and there, mostly doing bounty hunting and the like, but I also do some bodyguard work. Perhaps you would be interested in some extra muscle for your trip delivery girl?" Hati said with a wink " I can give you a discount" She offered in a teasing tone.

She turned around to face the familar voice, a knowing smirk on her face. Though he spoke in the same strict tone that her commanders would adress her with, she knew Nahuatl well enough to know he was rarely ever serious. Her father's trusted advisor was one of her few superiors who was kind to her, aside of course for her father himself. She'd known him since she was young, and he'd even helped train her in lightbending when her father had to attend to his royal duties. Even though she had already accidentally let a chuckle slip, she decided to play along with him, and she straightened up into a salute that was purposefully too stiff.

"Archpreist Chancellor, Sir!" She said, trying not to crack a smile. "With all due respect, sir, at least I can Plasmabend. But still, I should have learned better after taking all of your sloppy techniques to heart." She joked dryly.

After a moment, she let down the ruse. "I'm glad someone friendly came to see me off. Have you seen father yet today?" She asked.

Miyuki carefully examined the woman's vocabulary, She shot a flirtatious line. Which made Miyuku chuckle but she had to shoot her down with a polite shake of the head. "I don't really swing that way...I know a few fire nation girls who do though." Miyuki teased.

As she finished her cup of green tea she gently placed the cup down and chucked the tender a few gold pieces much to his delight to receive such a large tip, Miyuki stood up. Taking the time to stretch her legs and fix her disguise. Sneaking quick glances at anyone who'd be looming at her get up. She sighed, Tiredly.

"Bounty hunting huh." Miyuki said towards the woman, Her body was tone and fit. So it makes sense...Although she still looks. Off. Miyuki couldn't shake the feeling but raised an eyebrow to her question.

"What's in it for me? A night out on the town?" Miyuki subtly rolled her eyes, She did truthfully need a water bending teacher but who knew where this woman came from. "And your from...?" Miyuki asked in a stern tone.

“Hear ye, hear ye!”

The serenity of Ba Sing Se’s sparkling middle ring was shattered as a wagon came speeding into the main square, adorned with colorful fabrics and flowers and ribbons and strands of jingling golden bells. It whipped through the streets like lightning, narrowly avoiding pedestrians and taking out a cart of cabbages, leaving the vendor who owned it mourning his lost lettuce. As soon as the wagon had parked in the center of the square, a host of hooting, hollering Sand Tribesmen jumped out of the back, and they unfolded a retractable stage out from under the wagons where it’d been built in between the wheels and mechanisms. A small crowd began to gather around the set up as the curtains and backgrounds were being set in place, and a handsome young man jumped up into center stage, a stripped fur scarf around his neck, and cupped his hands to be heard better.

“Hear ye, hear ye!” Hin cried, gathering more people’s attention. “Citizens of Ba Sing Se, you are in luck today. The legendary, renowned troupe of traveling performers has come to mystify and delight you! That’s right, none other than the best performers in the Earth Kingdom- The Green Gilacorns!”

He jumped from the stage with a flourish, flipping and landing gracefully on his feet. He strolled trough the crowd, shmoozing and flirting with a couple of the girls staring wide-eyed at him, causing one to nearly faint. Wulai unwound his long body from around his owner’s neck, already ready with a tiny silver cup in his hands and a cute little face just begging for tips. While the rest of the troupe were getting ready, it was Hin’s job to fill seats, and he decided to take to the bar next and see if he could drag out a drunk or two. He entered the bar and scanned the room, and his eyes landed on a pair of girls taking in the corner. Perfect, just his specialty.

“Hello ladies.” He cooed, smoothly sliding into a seat in between them. Both of the girls seemed a little on edge. The girl to his left was absolutely gorgeous, with long raven hair and intense brown eyes. He sidled a little closer to him and looked between the two of them. “Would either of you be interested in some high-class entertainment? Tales of adventure and romance?” He asked as Wulai dropped onto the table and refilled both girls’ drinks.

Before the woman could answer Miyuki, A loud man cried out. "Hear ye! Hear ye!" Miyuki sighed in annoyance as the bar emptied just as fast as it packed in- With the exception of a few drunk fools. Miyuki placed a hand on her hip as a man threw open the wooden doors with pride and a wide smile.

He looked around as Miyuki gave him a quick overview, A green get-up with a scarf. He was obviously a commoner..At least a well dressed one. A tiny animal hung around his neck and he made eye contact with herself and Hati. She hoped he wouldn't come over but much to her dismay he trotted over and slid into a seat.

Another obstacle. Great. "I have business to attend to.." Miyuki trailed off as the man continued rambling about some live show. "No." Miyuki answered dryly.

She safely secured her satchel, And headed towards the exit. Opening the doors she discreetly looked around.

Nahuatl

Nahuatl smirked at Citlalli's comment." Cheeky tiger monkey." He commented trying to sound serious but it was clear that he found her comment funny. "You have your father sense of humor. I am still trying to decide whether that is a good thing or not." He teased her back before turning serious at her mention of her father. He had visited him but the king was in one of his bad days too feverish to be aware of anything let alone remember that his daughter was to set sail for the Earth kingdom soon. That was good to him because this mean he was running the country still Nahuatl figured that it wasn't the best thing to mention now and still have go to the Earth Nation with any enthusiasm.

"I did. He is as well as you can expect." He finally replied once he considered a proper response. "He is worried about you, not that he thinks that you will get hurt or something. More so that you will pick up some strange ideas from the foreigners. Elective governments, new traditions stuff like that. " He chuckled as if he didnt believe something like that would happen. "What about you? How are you feeling?" He asked.

Jinghua

Jinghua sighed as she walked through the market area of Ba Sing Se. She was journeying through the Earth Kingdoms the past three months looking for the avatar. It made no sense, it shouldnt have been that difficult to find the avatar, the avatar should have been around the same age as her by now there must have been some word of her reveal by now. However, there was nothing, only rumour and false alarms. It was surprising how many people pretended to be the avatar, idiots in her mind as she knew that it wasn't all fun and adventure but there were years of training as well. That is something they forget, as creative as they were trying to prove they could bend more than one element it wouldn't hold up to scrutiny of not only her but also the controlled environment of the white lotus.

She had been buying some supplies for her next trip, and she had already blown through most of her funds for the trip. She hoped that she would find the Avatar before she ran out, she disliked going to the White Lotus for assistant even if they would readily give it. She did not want to give to them the negative impression on her abilities to find the avatar going to them would imply. They may be on the same team but Jinghua did find them a bit too arrogant and self-righteous a feeling shared by many in her order. Still she did have enough for a quick meal once she completed her shop show went to a local tavern.

She didn't wear her traditional outfit going for a more modern earth kingdom style outfit. She still could be identified as a Kyoshi warrior, she still wore the sword on her belt and as well as her ornate fans which widely accepted as identification as both a kyoshi warrior and an agent of the Avatar which, absent or not, gave her some respect and courtesies from locals and the authorities most of the time. She bumped into a girl exiting the bar at the same time. "Hey sorry..." She went to say turning to face the girl before something shiny and red caught her eye. As she processed what it was one thing popped into her mind. "Hey, what are you wearing there?" She asked her hand moving to the pommel of her sword.

Miyuki put a bit more pep in her step as she was about to go past the giant pop-out stage, Out of the area until a woman bumped into her. Miyuki snuck a glance as she wore a slightly more modern earth kingdom get up. The woman nearly apologized until she hesitated and asked Miyuki a concerning question. Miyuki stiffened a bit, Shoot. Her pendant- She clearly caught on but Miyuki relaxed her nerves and continued the conversation. Hastily pulling up the top of her shirt she resumed a sad expression as she had perfected lying after so long. She chuckled, "Ah nothing...It was my mother's." Miyuki expressed in a sad tone.

"She was a Fire Native, Whilst my father was an Earth Commoner. This was her pendant so...I wear it for her memory." Miyuki added, The story made sense at the most. And after so long of hiding her identity, She wasn't going to give up quite easily. Yet the woman kept a hand over her sword, She might just attack regardless so Miyuki thought out a plan as fast as she could. If she didn't take the lie she had no choice but to fight- Using her firebending would make it easier considering she was already fount out.

And it'd be easier to be temporarily arrested as a fire nation spy, Than her true title to be discovered. Exhaling with quick breaths she faced the woman completely. "Why?" Miyuki asked with a dead-pan face, Miyuki still kept an on-guard stance just incase things didn't go right.

Jinghua

Jinghua eyed the girl suspsuspiciously as she spoke. True it was not illegal to be a fire nation citizen these days and they were at peace but she could not shake the feeling something was off here. The girl hesitated and seemed to stiffen at the question. Jinghua would have usually let her pass but such sign and the growing concern for fire nation spies and other potential integrations of war meant she needed to look into this closely.

She processed what the girl said. "I see..." She began. On the face of it there was nothing wrong with the story, it was even convincing. Still there seemed to be no harm in acquiring further and there was something that bothered her. "Really not really common for people of the fire and earth would mix in that way especially with tension as they are. Where did they meet?" She asked, her tone was conversational yet it was clear she was studying Miyuki closely and her hand was still on her sword.

Hati water tribe exile

Hati didn't mind getting shot down, though she now knew the girl was from the fire nation thanks to her mentioning girls there. While she could be just a traveler, the rest of her looks spoke of a pure fire nation girl. Now Hati wondered what someone from the fire nation could be delivering as that was one long trip, it must be important. Before Hati could do more bells rang out and a man came in to invite them to a show, well now Hati h ad something to do latter.

" Perhaps I will , just let me go wrangle my date she is playing hard to get" Hati said witha chuckle taking the drink the performer had kindly refilled and heading to the door where the delivery girl had gone.

Outside she found her little flame being accosted by another girl, and Hati was in no mood to share. Movingg towards the toe Hati noticed the fans on the other girls hip. Now fans were not rare, but those made to fight with were almost exclusive to one group. The kyoshi island warriors. Now there was a sight as they tended to stick to their little home. So why was one here? Perhaps they were hunting the avatar that had yet to show up. Well whatever the reason the kyoshi warrior was going after her little flame.

" Quite far from home yourself Kyoshi warrior" Hati said moving almost between the two but to the side as there wasn't that much room. " I didn't know you had replaced the Dai li when it came to accosting people" She continued not at all scared of offending the warrior actually kind of excited at the idea of fighting a kyoshi warrior.

" Still you have such poor eyes if you can't tell the delivery girl here is pure fire nation complete if fiery personality" Hati continued before reaching for a knife she had on her person, it's size closer to a dagger " So how about you stop ruining my date" Hati said really just saying whatever came to mind and wanting to tease the delivery girl some.

Somewhere in Ba Sing Se...

1604105062008.png

I hung onto Guàiwù's reins as the loveable bugbear casually strolled through the bustling streets of Ba Sing Se, carrying us toward our destination. In my hands was a crumpled map of the Earth Kingdom, and behind me sat Yǔmáo who was snoring quietly.

Although some people were whispering and pointing at me and Guàiwù (They had most likely not seen such an unusual creature before), my mind was only able to focus on one thing.

Finding my father.

I felt like we were getting closer to our destination, so I tried to usher Guàiwù to go faster by patting them on their side.

Unfortunately, the bugbear would only run when there was danger present, so I had no choice but to wait.

- - -

Finally, we arrived at the Moonstar Bar, and there was a large crowd of drunkards and commoners gathered outside around a makeshift stage.

Ignoring whatever loud mess that was, I hopped off Guàiwù, tucked my Earth Kingdom map into my handbag, and tied Guàiwù's reins to a wooden post in front of the bar.

Deciding not to wake Yǔmáo, I took a deep breath and signed to Guàiwù that I would be back, to keep watch, and to wish me luck.

I did not realize it before, but my hands were shaking, and my heart was beating rapidly.

I was nervous, excited, and scared all at the same time. I had been tracking my kidnapper throughout the Earth Kingdom for weeks, eventually leading me to Ba Sing Se.

Would my perpetrator be inside the bar, or would they once again be another step ahead of me?

Before I could leave, Guàiwù shoved their head into my hands with a chirp, and I smiled underneath my mask.

You always knew how to make me feel better, buddy.

Affectionately rubbing Guàiwù's head and antlers, I took a shaky breath and forced myself to part from my bug companion.

It was now or never.

Making my way to the entrance of the bar, I ran into three girls who were having a conversation and blocking the door.

One was dressed in rather revealing clothing, another looked like they were a delivery girl from the Fire Nation, and the third was most likely a Kyoshi warrior.

I blankly stared at the trio for a moment before I signed the words "Excuse me," and I shoved my way past them, heading into the bar with newfound determination.

To say I was disappointed would have been an understatement when I found out the bar was nearly empty. I guess that's why there were so many drunks outside.

Accepting defeat, I was about to turn around and head back outside when I saw them out of the corner of my eye, counting piles of money and discussing who knows what with another suspicious character in the back of the bar.

My blood ran cold when the golden mask turned to me, and our gazes locked.

At first, no one reacted. The tension in the bar was thick, and I could see my kidnapper whisper something to their friend.

The kidnapper's friend turned to look at me, and they continued whispering to one other, occasionally sparing me glances.

When my senses came back, I was the first to move toward the other, causing my kidnapper to jump up from his seat.

As I navigated my way through the many wooden tables, my kidnapper drew a sword from his sheath and pointed it at me.

"Don't come any closer unless you want to cry a second time, Abaddon."

I wanted to yell at my kidnapper and make him pay for his crimes, but I held my tongue and rushed him, calling forth a wave of blazing fire that would singe anyone it touched.

My kidnapper was quick to react as he flipped over their table and used it to block my dark red flames.

Before I could reach them, throwing knives pinned me to a nearby wall, and my kidnapper made a break for the front door, knocking over more tables in their hurry.

I struggled to free myself as some of the bartenders yelled at my kidnapper for making a mess and not paying.

Right as my kidnapper burst through the entrance, I managed to yank out the last throwing knife from my shirt, and I threw the weapon on the floor with a loud clank.

I chased after my kidnapper without thinking twice, but by the time I arrived outside, he had stolen an ostrich horse and was preparing to ride off.

I tried to signal to Guàiwù to stop him, but all he could do was struggle against his reins as the wooden pole threatened to break from the sudden force.

Yǔmáo woke up in confusion, and I made one last attempt to grab my kidnapper as I lunged at him.

Sadly, I was not fast enough, and my kidnapper rode off, leaving me to fall to the ground with a hard thud.

I sat up, covered in dirt and mud, and I dusted myself off.

Although you could not tell, a large variety of emotions was racing throughout my mind, the most prominent ones being anger and frustration.

Miyuki furrowed her eyebrows as the woman wouldn't let up, "They met in Ba Sing Se capital. She snuck in to steal for her family...Once they met. They continued meeting and fell in-love. Despite the war, they bore me." Miyuki grinned. She truly deserved an award for how quickly she could lie on the spot. Miyuki continued to eye the woman's hand fully on her blade now. "Are you going to assault me for answering your question?" She added in a stern tone. Hoping to ward the woman off. Yet soon after Hati came bursting out with snide remarks as Miyuki sighed for the thousandth time. Regardless she saw this an opportunity to get away from this chaos. As the woman wasn't looking Miyuki kicked her dagger as it scattered across the ground. Miyuki dashed the opposite direction.

Huffing she ran as fast as she could obviously everyone would be following right behind her, She at-least had to get out of the capital. And after running for so long she stopped to catch her breath, Turning to face everyone. She rolled her eyes. "Are you kidding me!?" Miyuki bursted out, But then relaxed and kept her composure. Still safely holding her satchel.

She couldn’t help but giggle when she heard his old nickname for her. “A ruler needs to have their wits about them. Just wait till you hear what I say to the ambassadors at the embassy.” She joked.

Her mood faded almost immediately when she heard about her father’s condition. “As well as he can be expected to be”, Nahuatl had said. Citlalli expected to have a warm smile again, to have someone to fight beside and hug tightly again, to hear a steady voice reassuring her like he had before.

“I expected to have my father back by now.” She said quietly. She turned back to the water, where small, choppy black waves began to roll as high tide came in. “I don’t want to leave him alone in this state.”

Nahuatl

Nahuatl laughed, genuinely to his surprise at Citlalli's comment. "I fear for our relations with the earth kingdom." He replied jokingly back as he watched her reaction to the news of her father. Poor girl, he did feel for her having gone through the same things with his wife and son. He had wished the same back then but there was no cure yet for the plague, it would be slow to come but death would come to the king soon. There was little doubt about that, the only possible cure was healing bending, but he doubted they will have access to that before the king passed away.

He reached out and took a comforting hand on her shoulder. "He all have to do our duty to our nation above all despite how we might feel." He began to say softly. "Your father has his worries but the last thing he wants is for him getting in the way of your development and doing your duty."

He want quiet for a moment. "You want to perform a quick chant to the gods for your father and your journey?" He asked.

Jinghua

Jinghua frowned when another girl looking like she was from the fire nation seemed to interject between the two of them. The new girl made her allegiance clear to be on the fire girls side even claiming to be dating. Two girl, one of fire and one of water together in the earth kingdom, an interesting development if did complicate the situation Jinghua founded himself in. What was this all about, Water nation and fire nation spies meeting in Bi SIng Sae? She frowned at herself, it was unlikely as this wasn't an adventure or romance story. Guesses aside she needs to react. "I am official business here, if your girlfriend has done nothing wronger than she had nothing to fear. I just need to ask a few questions..."

She paused as she heard something drop, instinctively she turned towards the sound seeing a masked woman on the ground and another riding off. She hesitated at first not sure what to deal with first before groaning and rushing towards the fallen woman's side. "Are you ok? What is going on?" She asked with care as she examined her. On the corner of her eyes she noticed that the fire nation woman had run off. She was frustrated by this but there was nothing to be done now.

Hin’s ego had been slightly bruised after the delivery girl had rejected him, but he didn’t press on farther. He could tell when a girl clearly wasn’t interested, and he knew how to back off. Plus, she probably had more important things to do that marvel at his perfectly tousled hair, like... “Week” or “Whirl” or whatever that depressing thing was called.

He was on his way back to the wagon to get into costume when a girl was suddenly thrown to the ground. Her assailant was riding away. “...Hey, hey!” Hin chased after him, but the creature he was mounted on was fast and he couldn’t get a glance at the rider’s face. He turned back to the girl and knelt down beside her, offering his flask of water and a hand to steady herself on.

“Are you okay?” He asked her, noticing that Wulai was acting a little strange around her.

Citlalli was dead silent as she listened to the Chancellor’s words. He was right... The Empire was what mattered, above all else. She had to be a future Empress, first and fore most, before the current Emperor’s daughter. She’d have to go to the Earth Kingdom on that other continent to preserve the alliance.

But if she wasn’t here in her father’s last moments...

No. She couldn’t think about that.

Citlalli smiled as Nahuatl offered to pray with her. “Yes, that would be nice.” She said, taking his hands and preparing for him to lead her.

" Oh official business What business do the guards of the fire lord have in ba sing se? Last i checked the fire lord doesn't own Ba sing se are you saying he does?" Hati asked though she was not quiet about it she was loud and made sure to get other people's attention get them focused on the kyoshi warrior. The war may have ended years and years ago but people still had distrust of the fire nation and one of the fire lords body guards running about the city acting like they were the law would rile people up.

Then more chaos broke out and everyone shifted focus, even Hati. This made her lose sight of the girl she had been trying to mess with. Hati had not really expected much as she had been shot down once, but hey some people liked someone that tried more than once. The shift of focus was to a girl and a guy that had run away, her face hidden by a mask and her clothes clearly those of the fire nation. Now the kyoshi warrior was taking care of fire nation people while moments ago having been suspect of a fire nation girl.

" Really you owe me a date now Kyoshi, I am sure that girl would have said yes after a little more asking" Hati said annoyed. looking at the injured girl but not exactly interested in someone that was dressed to grab attention, a distraction if ever she saw one.

I was surprised when two people came rushing to my aid, one female and the other male.

When both asked if I was okay, I nodded my head and politely declined the male's offer of water, though I still took his hand and used it to steady myself as I stood up.

Brushing a few stray strands of hair out of my face, I signed the words "Thank you" to the duo and explained how I had some unfinished business with the person who rode off, though it was nothing to worry about, and I appreciated their concern.

Truthfully, I was livid that I let my kidnapper get away so easily. I spent weeks tracking them, and now I had zero leads and would have to find the same person who tipped me off last time.

As I stood there wallowing in self-pity, I realized that I saw the male performer earlier sulking inside the bar, and I ran into the kyoshi warrior when they were talking to the delivery girl and over-revealing female.

I signed my name to the duo and reached out to them for a handshake. It was the least I could do when they paused their own affairs to check on me.

The girl declined Hin’s flask but did steady herself on his hand, and as she rose back to her feet, Hin was a taken aback to see her face was covered in dusty bandages and a gaunt, pale mask, with empty black eye sockets and a third eye painted in the center. It was unsettling, intimidating. It made him wonder why that man had really attacked the girl.

He’d learned sign language after a young Fire Nation boy hadn’t been able to read the troupe’s lips during a show, and he’d held on to most of what he’d taught himself. Even though the girl was signing quickly, he caught most of it and was able to respond. “She says thank you,” He explained, in case the Kiyoshi didn’t understand, “And that she has some unfinished business with that man who rode off. You’re not going to be able to catch him now. He’s long gone. Why did he attack you like that?” Hin asked, innately curious.

He realized that maybe he should be signing as he spoke, and began to as he asked her more questions. “Why do you wear that mask?” He asked, going slowly as his hands fumbled through each word. “Do you have a gnarly scar that makes you look cool under there? Did that guy give it to you?”
