Ruiko was born in the fire nation's capital to a noble family. Being the second oldest child out of four. Her family had served in the fire nation military for generations. The plan was to continue doing so for as long as possible. She grew up in a relatively average noble home; her parents loved her and her siblings. Even if they were not around all the time to show that love when she was old enough, she started to be taught by her tutor along with her older brother; she and her brother have a good relationship, to say the least, as they have a very strong brother and sister bond.

As she started to get older, she was taught how to fire bend when she found out she could. Her parents hired instructors as they taught her how to harness it. This was slow at first, so a few thought she would never be able to control it. When she wasn’t working on her fire bending, she would be with her friends as they walked around the fire nation capital. They would spend hours away, which sometimes got her in trouble. This led to her being taught not to do such things by various methods. Over the next couple of years, at 10, she started to pick up a cooking hobby. She would spend hours there once she got used to it. The whole thing was relaxing. It became a way for her to deal with stress if it got to a bad point.

When she was deemed capable, she joined the Fire Nation military as an officer, just like her brother had several years before. Though not entirely sure how she feels about the rumors, she hears about the next steps the fire nation is about to take. Now on the run from the fire nation, she deserted the Fire nation army.

From a young age, Ama's skill with earthbending was identified, and she underwent a rigorous training regimen to perfect her bending abilities. Despite her aptitude for bending, Ama preferred to spend her time at the herbalist's house that sat on the outskirts of the city. Ama perfected her knowledge of herbs and plants that grew in the region and their properties as poisons, poultices, and potions.

However, Ama's idyllic life came crashing down when the war began. Taku was a target for the initial series of attacks due to its prominence as a shipping port and proximity to the Fire Nation. Ama escaped the fire and destruction by carving a tunnel that led beyond the city limits. From there, she could see the rising smoke and flame that consumed her home. By the next morning, Ama had snuck back into the city to seek out her parents. Dodging patrols of firebenders, Ama found the charred remains of her home.

Once again, Ama left the city, this time as a refugee. Before she left, however, Ama rescued an eel hound that seemed to be forlornly wandering the ruins. Ever since the destruction of her home, Ama has wandered, seeking to aid her fellow refugees and find a way to save the Earth Kingdom from the back of her eel hound.

When socializing with others he cane be a bit reserved, especially after having suffered so much heartbreak and loss. He opens up more once he has gotten to know the other person and feels more certain that they're gong to be sticking around.
When in a combat situation he tends to be a bit more to the point, but is less open to severely hurting or killing someone. He deals with arguments in a similar manner, trying to be concise and focused, but avoiding hurting others.

When the war started, Sutar was only one, but even he could understand the gravity of the situation. People had died and more people would die before the war would stop. One of those people would end up being Sutar's father, who would go out to fend off a Fire Nation assault, but never return. Many people lost their family members to the war, some people were even left with no one. With his mother being broken by the loss of his father, Sutar felt as if he had no one left. He had to raise himself in a way and being one of the more responsible children in the tribe, he ended up looking after a few others as few.

As the years went by, Sutar taught himself to hunt and fish, to sail and sew. All skills he needed in order to look after his adopted family. One day while he was out fishing, he spotted a stranger, but not an enemy. A boy from the Northern Water tribe. Supposedly he and his family were traveling to the south pole to bring supplies to the village, but they were attacked along the way and the boy was the only person to survive. With Sutar's help, Anok would make a full recovery. They would spend the next few years working together to help the village, and falling in love with one another.

Some time after their 18th birthday, the fire nation returned to the south pole. The battle went on for several hours and while Sutar played medic and babysitter to wounded warriors and children, Anok was on the frontlines. He had learnt a fair bit of bending techniques and was considered to be pretty good compared to what remained of the village's military so although he worried, Sutar always believed Anok would be alright. But this attack proved him wrong. Anok was brought back to the medic tent with lethal burns all across his body. Sutar tried for what felt like hours to heal him and keep him alive, but eventually nothing would, and Anok would fade away. The village ultimately survived the attack thanks to a blizzard which had come in from further south. It scared the fire benders an sent them packing.

Over the next year, Sutar would make up his mind to stop sitting around waiting for the fire nation to come to them. He bid his family farewell and promised he would return after the war was over.

In the recent times before the war, the air nomads were finally starting to live up to their name again after decades of isolation. They roamed the earth freely, nothing to slow them down save for the occasional stop to help those in need. This, Pema told her young son years later, was their biggest mistake because they left the Western Air Temple vulnerable against the attack of the Fire Nation, this first temple to fall. Pema and a couple other nomads heard the news of their fallen home as they were in the Fire Nation itself trading goods. She barely made it out of the nation alive, most were not so lucky.

Years passed and Pema had a son, Taal, the youngest nomad so far as they knew. For most of his upbringing he didn’t know of a place to call home, moving from mountainside to dark woods, never staying in one place for too long lest a fire nation sympathizer caught wind of them. Taal met few of his kind along the way, just mostly they decided to disperse, a feared of regrouping and facing annihilation.

One day, Pema couldn’t take it anymore. She needed to know what became of her home. She went alone at night, Taal asleep and unaware of his mother’s departure. The next morning, he found her on the ground a ways off from their campsite, burnt and without her staff. As she succumbed to her injuries, she whispered to her son that their home stood, but it was no longer safe and he must never go back. Pema died that night, and for the first time Taal felt what it truly meant to be alone, a member of a dying breed.

Remembering the stories of his mother was what kept Taal going. He was done with hiding, determined to make things right, even if that meant doing the impossible. He needed to find the Avatar, whom he believes is still alive.

Backstory: Once a feisty young bender determined to put himself at the forefront of the war despite his occasionally unhelpful inexperience. Eventually Nuvuk became separated from his fellows during a fierce battle in an isolated part of the northern lands, moving inland to avoid capture by Fire Nation forces he wandered the empty frozen wastes alone for nearly a year while suffering various injuries at the hands of wild beasts that left him scarred and missing an eye. Eventually he collapsed under the northern lights near the pole and was rescued by a reclusive group that had chosen to watch over the spirits within the forest surrounding the closed portal.

Finding peace in the isolation Nuvuk remained there for years after he had healed and learned a form of spiritbending to help calm the spirits as the growing chaos in the world agitated them. Eventually he came to believe that he had to leave and do what he could to restore or at least maintain balance and calm spirits in other parts of the world until the Avatar returned, while initially intending to remain peaceful Nuvuk chose to take up the fight again as he witnessed the destruction wrought by the Fire Nation's reckless industrialisation.

It was there in the town of Shiyon that he fell in love with an Earth Kingdom woman named Kiya. Over the next two years, he would marry and grow to appreciate Earth Kingdom culture, its people and traditions. Love melted the soldiers heart. Eventually they would have children, Saki, and her younger sister Fumiko. Being raised as a Fire Nation noble ruling Earth Kingdom culture meant that she represented a strong cultural blend. This, however, meant there were plenty of nationalists back home who saw this as weakness. Riku's marriage to a Earth Kingdom citizen and raising of a child as he had been meant Riku could be betraying the Fire Lord.
When Saki was 16, her father was killed in a coup lead by a ruthless Fire Nation loyalist; Commander Sun Lin. Who captured her mother and sister and took Riku's position in the colony. Saki was given the chance to flee. So she did. Wandering the Earth Kingdom for years in search of allies to deliver revenge onto Sun.

Raised in the Western Air Temple, Tal expected to spend much of his life meditating and training. These peaceful expectations, unfortunately, left him and the other monks woefully unprepared when Sozin's Comet arrived. Training outside the temple, Tal and his friends returned to find the complex ablaze. Attacked by firebenders, they were forced to flee, scattering into the wilderness around the temple. Tal and a few friends managed to stick together for a few days, but constant attacks wore their numbers thin until only Tal remained. Even now, he still didn't know how he'd managed to get away. But there he was,alone, somewhere on the edge of the Earth Kingdom, alone.

The next few years were a panicked blur, darting from one town to the next, learning to steal and hide, picking up and vanishing into the night at the faintest hint of the Fire Nation. He abandoned his robes, his staff and every other trace of his heritage to blend in. Now he spends his time jumping from city to city, just trying to scrape by and hide.

Raised in the Western Air Temple, Tal expected to spend much of his life meditating and training. These peaceful expectations, unfortunately, left him and the other monks woefully unprepared when Sozin's Comet arrived. Training outside the temple, Tal and his friends returned to find the complex ablaze. Attacked by firebenders, they were forced to flee, scattering into the wilderness around the temple. Tal and a few friends managed to stick together for a few days, but constant attacks wore their numbers thin until only Tal remained. Even now, he still didn't know how he'd managed to get away. But there he was,alone, somewhere on the edge of the Earth Kingdom, alone.

The next few years were a panicked blur, darting from one town to the next, learning to steal and hide, picking up and vanishing into the night at the faintest hint of the Fire Nation. He abandoned his robes, his staff and every other trace of his heritage to blend in. Now he spends his time jumping from city to city, just trying to scrape by and hide.
