CURRENT FACTS

- The year is 2258.
- The current mayor of Avalon City is Rosalind Régalien. This is her third term.

Spoiler: Murders

All victims have been found with a strange mark that resembles an x on the back of their necks. Letter receivers can be related to the same victim.

- April 8, 2258: The first murder victim that is related to Evelyn. Her name was Kyra Oliveira. Kyra Oliveira stood at approximately 5'4" and had black hair and brown eyes. She was a simple worker at a diner. She was 29 at the time of death.

- April 17, 2258: The second murder victim is related to Sonia. He name was Claude Gold and he was her work partner and friend. He was 27 at the time of death.

- April 23, 2258: The third murder victim that is related to Kendal. His name was Ethan Adams and was Kendall's gang brother. He was 25 at the time of death.

- May 1, 2258: The fourth murder victim that is related to Carlos. Her name was Jessica Stone and she was Carlos' original partner in the force and brief fling. She was 25 at the time of death.

- May 10, 2258: The fifth murder victim that is related to Gemma. His name was Theo Skylar and he was Gemma's foster brother. He was 26 at the time of death.

- May 12, 2258: The sixth murder victim that is related to Elijah. His name was George Seere and he was Elijah's professor. He was 56 at the time of death.

- May 24, 2258: The seventh murder victim that is related to Brianna. His name was Michael Wilson and he was her husband. He was 28 at the time of death.

- June 1, 2258: The eighth murder victim that has no relation to current characters. Paolo Iglesias age 30.

NEW AMERICA

New America was established on December 11, 2027, a day after World War III by Nelson Black. The entire West and East coasts were destroyed, so the border now wraps around the northern parts of former Mexico and the former states of Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

WORLD WAR III

Dating from August 8, 2023 to December 10, 2027, World War III was the war of all wars. It initially began when a Russian spy was found stealing classified U.S. information before it snowballed into nuclear war. The human population was decreased by nearly half while wastelands and dead zones grew at a frightening rate. By the time the war came to an end, most of Earth was unlivable.

GOVERNMENT

Presidents may serve three consecutive six-year terms. The number of people in government is overall smaller too and they’re a council rather than a congress. The Council of Ministers is divided into various categories based on their seniority and political importance. These categories include the Cabinet, the Minister of State, Deputy Minister, and Parliamentary Secretaries. The head of this council is the Prime Minister.

While “Cabinet” and “Council” are often used interchangeable, the “Cabinet” consists of all the most experienced and influential individuals. It is made of 15 people, including the Prime Minister. Decisions regarding Home, Defense, External Affairs, and so on go through the Cabinet. That being said, it is not the Council of Ministers that advise the President, but the Cabinet.

SOCIAL STRATIFICATION

HUMANS

Humans stand at the very top of the hierarchy. They are the leaders, the rule makers, and the gods. The human word is law and they will always side with each other. High-ranking individuals live in the Skytrop. This population is steadily declining.

CYBORGS

Anyone less than 100% human is considered a cyborg, whether they merely have a robotic eye or a sheet of metal underneath the skin of their legs. Cyborgs are looked down upon by humans, even if they were previously 100% human. Some humans will keep their cyborg parts a secret if they can. This population is steadily growing.

ANDROIDS

The very bottom of the hierarchy, androids perform the duties that humans and cyborgs don’t want to or can’t. The simplest ones follow all orders given while more advanced androids (rare) may possess a consciousness similar to that of a living being. The program for each android varies. For example, some may be programmed for household duties while others for protection or companionship.

MISC. INFORMATION

HOLIDAYS

- January 1 - New Year’s Day
- March 29 - Avalon Day; the day Avalon City was founded (city holiday and no work).
- August 17th - Founder’s Day; the day New America was founded.
- December 10 - World Peace Day; the day World War III ended.

Many celebratory holidays such as Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas still exist but they aren’t as celebrated.

RELIGION

Religion is strong amongst humans in New America. The human heretics believe the war and the deaths of so many people were due to immorality, sins, and other evils. Humans believe that they themselves are gods due to being made by He himself. That is why cyborgs and androids are frowned upon. There are of course people that aren’t believers. Perhaps they’ve seen the truth of their situation and the world in which they live.

TECHNOLOGY

Technology is pretty advanced. Think of holograms, laser guns, etc. I will add more to this for more conclusive information as we go on.

TRANSPORTATION

Due to the vastness of the city, transportation is a must. This ranges from subways, trains, and hover cars. Personal hover cars are generally luxury items for people with the money. Of course, people such as officers are granted them by the city government.

AVALON CITY

Founded by Richard Avalon in 2032, Avalon City became one of the fastest growing cities in New America. Some of the greatest minds in both the sciences and the arts were born here. Avalon City is known as a beautiful place and is deemed the “City of Dreams” to many outsiders who strive for change. Unfortunately, this city is plagued with inequality, crime, and corruption. It is a place where dreams come to die and it’s a place that’s difficult to escape.

SKYTROP

A mini city of itself, Skytrop is where the human elite reside. They’re situated above the clouds, where the the tips of some of the tallest skyscrapers may disappear. Rarely do people from here travel to the lower depths of the Mire due to its heavy pollution and overall atmosphere.

THE MIRE

Anything below Skytrop is known as the Mire. Smog is heavy here. It is where most of the Avalon City population can be found, including crime, business, etc. While the ground level is often the place for business, people prefer having their actual living arrangements higher up so apartment complexes are common. The higher up a person lives, the less their chance of facing the darker aspects of the city.

GOVERNMENT

The mayor is the leading figurehead of the city government. He serves a four year term and he may serve as many terms possible so long as the people vote for him. Along with the mayor, he has a council of four people. The council consists of the main city judge, the chief police officer, the public prosecutor, and a normal citizen. These four people go through a vetting process during each election term to ensure their reliability and validity. The only person who surely changes each term is the normal citizen.

MODDING

Any kind of alteration to the human body that involves the physical implementation or change of technology and/or metal is known as ‘modding.’ Modding that is not performed by a doctor, scientist, or anyone certified as a professional in the field is deemed illegal. Most modding procedures are expensive while the materials themselves may range from inexpensive to unaffordable depending on the material and the part itself.

People who can’t see a professional will often have illegal procedures. Illegal procedures are met with serious repercussions but most people who have them aren’t caught. This is due to the overall corruption and laziness in the justice system.

It is important to note that modding is generally the last resort for humans due to cyborgs being looked down upon. However, human parts are extremely expensive so modding is often the only choice available.

Sometimes cyborgs may mod themselves (illegally) to enhance their skills. This may include making them slightly smarter, stronger jumpers/kickers/punchers, faster runners, etc. In fact, people who glorify androids may get these very things done but it's highly ill-advised. There have been many occasions where the human side of them fails to adjust and they ultimately die.

The following image leaves out Skytrop since Skytrop is above the clouds. A map of Skytrop also isn't necessary since it's mostly floating homes and their land. Districts and other locations can and will be added as time progresses. The darker the color, the more densely populated.

  Midtown is the location of much cultural activity. Here people may find areas dedicated to a certain culture, such as China Town, Korea Town, Latino Town etc. It is the prime hub for some of the more affordable, authentic foods in city. In addition, a lot of illegal modders like to come here due to the ease of meeting people in a small-time restaurant.
