      Looking at Chelsea, one can get a strong -- and fairly accurate impression -- from the get-go. The pompous, irritated resting-face, hazel eyes that always seem to hold a certain level of contempt, and, of course, the mole just above his upper lip give the strong sense that he is "better than you", "holier than thou", and, most of all, a complete and utter asshole. Congrats -- if you got that reading from just his looks, then you would be correct.
      
      Known to be more of a "pretty boy with an ill temper", CK has a softer jawline, a face shape somewhere between a heart- and an ovular-shaped face, and high cheekbones. He has long, dark eyelashes above his hazel eyes that are set beneath dark, thick eyebrows, a large nose that is a big larger thanks to a couple of breaks to it, and thicker lips.
      
      Chelsea likes to keep his dark brown hair a bit long in the front and a bit shorter in the back. The front of his smooth, well-cared-for hair falls at about the bottom of his eyes; at the nape of his neck, his hair is an inch or two long. He parts his hair on the right and very rarely lets his hair fall into his face.

      At first glance, one would think that Chelsea is a disconnected, brooding asshole type whose emotional unavailability makes him just right for a Wattpad protagonist with "average" looks to swoop in and heal the wounds of his past, thus turning him into the big softie that he's meant to be.
      
      If you said that to his face, he would knock your lights out.
      
      Chelsea is, in fact, an aloof, stoic asshole who's perpetually emotionally unavailable. That much definitely wasn't hard to guess. He is always serious and lacks the ability to take a joke -- or, honestly, get a joke. CK is presumptuous, judgmental, and condescending, and he holds himself to the highest standard and is incredibly disciplined. Chelsea is, after all, a Freud, and, more importantly, he is Chelsea Kader Freud. He is to be the picture of success: confident, intelligent, and brutal. Chelsea is highly perceptive and can read and perceive people and situations almost instantaneously. He is assertive and outspoken, though is a boy of few words. However, he is able to speak very eloquently when discussing business matters.
      
      The Auburn Springs football captain and an artful musician, Chelsea is known for his dedication to each and every thing that he does. His life is organized and orderly, with plans leading even past his death, thanks to his pragmatism, responsibility, and goal-orientedness. When anything is even slightly awry in what he has organized, his first goal is to fix it.
      
      Chelsea is also known to be a dick. Undyingly short-tempered, the overly-serious boy is easily provoked and is very often angry about nothing. He is impatient and aggressive, and he is generally inconsiderate of others' feelings or convenience unless in a formal setting. He is very biased against those of lower socioeconomic status, and he also dislikes those above him and authority -- though he obeys it, he does not truly respect it; after all, he knows what to do, so there is no need for him to be told what to do. Even given all of this, though, he has remarkable self-control and can only rarely be provoked to acting on his anger. Given this and his organization skills, he is known to be a good leader.
      
      CK acts out of duty, whether it be duty to his family, his school, or society, and thus, he has a strong moral compass. This can lead him to be a bit self-righteous -- and also a bit hypocritical, as he is more readily willing to admit that what others are doing wrong than that what he is doing is wrong.
      
      Chelsea's focus on his future and almost drone-like compliance to this plan that he has outlined for himself -- this plan that his parents constructed for him, truly -- leads him to be emotionally unavailable and very difficult to form any true relationship with. He is untrusting and very, very reluctant to reveal any of his emotions to anyone, often keeping even small talk to a minimum.
      
      Deep down, CK's bitterness is not to others or to the world but is instead deep-rooted and stems from his family situation, his place in life, and the future that he is being made to follow. As someone who was never posed a "what do you want to do" question by his family but was instead given what he was going to do with the rest of his life, Chelsea is someone who lacks any real sense of himself beyond what he should be and what he must be.

      In the Beginning

      The Freuds and Camuses were powerful families in Auburn Springs since the mid-1800s, a fact that Chelsea has been reminded of throughout his life. There was never quite a "feud" between the two, but there was an unspoken hatred between the two; after all, as two powerful families competing in the same field of business -- banking -- there was much competition between the two. However, in the failing economy of the 1930s, the two families put their differences aside and combined to save themselves from financial ruin. Thus was born Freud-Camus Banking and Trust.
      
      Though the two families merged businesses, they still did not get along in the slightest, but even after the economy began to do better, their combined business remained to assure continued success. When the next generation of the families was grown, the first-born son of each family took the place as one of the heads of the business, and this tradition continued onward. At no point, though, did either family really get along.
      
      In 1987, fresh college graduates Dominic Freud, 27, and Nicholas Camus, 25 -- or Nic and Nick, as they were called -- assumed the positions as the heads of the business, positions that they had trained to have their whole lives; their fathers were retirement age at this point and, of course, retired.
      
      The business seemed to be continuing to thrive beneath the two, and the young men were doing well for themselves. When Dominic hit 37 in the 1997, his father, Chelsea, informed him that he had found him a wife in Eloise Dapple. She was a rich young woman, too, though she was only 18 at the time. Against this marriage Dominic could not resist -- it was something that he was told was going to happen -- and in the early part of 2001, the then 41-year-old Nic married the 22-year-old Elle. The same year, Nick married Francine Brooke.
      
      Marriage...was not quite happy, for either of them, and soon, there were rumors of infidelity stirring about Elle -- and about Nicholas. Though nothing could be confirmed, it was suspected by many old gossips that there was something between Elle and Nick, but no one dared to ask. Instead, they just gathered their suspicions form the way that Nic was around Nick, the way Nic was around Elle, the way Elle was around Nick, and the way Nick was around Francine.
      
      In late 2002, Nic announced the pregnancy of his wife. It was to be a boy, and they would name him after his father. It was a similar situation for Nick, who announced his wife's pregnancy in the first part of the next year and said that he would be naming the boy his mother's maiden name, as was tradition. The rumors began to stir again, with more theories that Nic was not the father of his wife's child -- that it instead was Nick.
      
      Then, abruptly, the 43-year-old Nic came up dead.
      
      It was a heart attack, they said. Stress-induced.
      
      And that was all there was to it. From there, it was a rush -- a heap of exciting things for the town gossips.
      
      A month later, Chelsea Kader Freud was born.
      
      Two months later, Nick announced divorce from his wife.
      
      Three months later, Nick announced his engagement to Elle.
      
      Three months later, Donna was born.
      
      Two weeks later, Francine signed that she didn't want anything to do with Donna.
      
      A month later, Nick and Elle were married.
      
      A week later, Elle legally adopted Donna.
      
      Four months after that, Elle announced that she was pregnant again.
      
      Six months later, Mercedes was born.
      
      Thus is life.
      
      

      Growing Up

      Chelsea, from birth, had a purpose in life; he was to be the next co-head of Freud-Camus Banking and Trust, as well as a beacon of success and exceptionalism for all others to look up to. From a young age, he was instructed in music, as well as in business matters. His path for the future was made clear -- and he only had one path.
      
      Chelsea proved to be just what they wanted: intelligent, stern, serious, dedicated. Capable of what they needed him to do and more. Thus, they pushed more and more onto him. More things for him to do. More people for him to talk to. More connections for him to build. Of course, he did them eagerly, ready to do anything he needed to do. He had to keep perfect grades, a perfect record. Be a model student, a model athlete, a model leader from even a young age. He was a Freud (Nick never adopted him), and he was to behave as such. When he didn't do such things, he was berated and punished.
      
      His father was never affectionate. Nicholas was (and is) known to be strict, stern, and straight to the point with Chelsea, since he was the eldest child, and he did no sparing of the feelings, nor did he afford him any niceties. From the very start, he told Chelsea, in blunt terms, when he was letting him down -- which was every time that he was doing anything besides the absolute best, and even sometimes when he was doing the absolute best. He often humiliated Chelsea at the slightest slip-up. Even so, he instilled in Chelsea a sense of fear more than respect, as well as a sense of duty, especially to Mer, who was glorified by his father.
      
      As he grew older, he grew more aware of his family situation and of the gossip surrounding his mother and his situation. He grew to resent both his mother and his father. Even so, he listened to his father, respecting him and his wishes, though he did not respect him as a person. He regarded his mother lower than low -- a whore, a cheater, a [insert a ton of other insults] -- and despised her; he feels something similar for his father, but there is respect there, and a need to gain his father's approval.
      
      He believed (and believes) that Donna is his brother, though he still denies this to others to save his family's face. His hatred for his father, rather than being pointed at his father, is pointed entirely at Donna, who he began to bully heavily as he grew into his teenage years.
      
      As for his mother, she only ever paid him much attention when in public or after he accomplished something. When they would run into each other around the house, she would say one or two words. As he has gotten older, she has tried to get closer to him, now saying that she loves him, but he resists any attempt.

      Currently, Chelsea is still socially at the top. A model student, a model athlete, a model musician. He's the Auburn Springs football captain (he does not accept the co- in front of it). He is following his father's vision.

      .. Chelsea has never done "the shit that Donna does" — no drugs, no smoking. He's afraid that he'd get addicted to it, and "the last thing I want to be is a fucking burnout like my bastard brother".

      Looking almost stereotypical of a "burnout" type, Donna looks the complete opposite of put-together -- or, really, sane in any sense. His large, striking, blue eyes, surrounded by long, dark lashes and resting beneath thick, dark brows, have a certain level of deadness to them, as though they are made of glass. With his high cheekbones, Donna's face shape is similar to CK's (whether or not they are related by blood): a mixture of a heart shape and an ovular shape. Though Donna's jaw is slightly more angular, he has a soft jawline. Donna has a cleft chin and a mole on his left cheek.
      
      Donna's brown hair is wild. It is more like a mop atop his head than anything. Coarse, curly, messy, and long, his hair sticks out every which way from his head. It very rarely gets washed or has a comb anywhere near it.

He has very thin, spindly arms and, though he has a few muscles thanks to his being forced to work out for football, he doesn't have anything too impressive.       Donna is usually forgotten when listing those of the Freud-Camus family; this is probably for the better. There are not very many positives about Donahue Camus. He is perceptive. He is independent. He is loyal. He is honest. He is non-confrontational. He is a thinker.
      
      That is about where the positives end. In short: the only positive thing is that he mostly stays out of the way and avoids being an eyesore for the rest of Auburn Springs.
      
      Donna is often described as a "zombie" or a "ghost" -- or, by his brother, as a "burnout blight to the face of the earth". He's grown used to the insults by now, or at least those coming from his brother, and he guesses that he can't call them totally inaccurate. Hopeless and drifting through life, Donna calls drugs his sustenance, the only things keeping him alive at this point. He is pessimistic, and nihilistic, and cynical. He is philosophical, but only negatively. Speaking to him causes him to go on long-winded, drug-heavy rants about the meaningless of life. He is wholly unconfident in himself and deeply unhappy with who he is and how he is "going to turn out". He is depressing to talk to, disgusting to look at, and unpleasant to be around.
      
      In spite of this, Donna is still a very proud person, which is a rather odd juxtaposition with his hopelessness. He knows who he is, and he is secure in this. He judges those around him -- Springers and Bridgers alike -- and holds a general contempt for the human race, as he preconceives that everyone is either selfish or following along with those who are selfish. He is unsympathetic to others and is truly apathetic to everything occurring around him. When people disturb this, try to change it, or try to refute what he says, he is quick to get angry. He is ill-tempered, and stubborn too.
      
      Donna is also a complete rebel, in the same way that the drug-pumped hippies of the sixties and seventies were. With a lack of impulse control mostly thanks to his lack of sobriety and a disdain for authority, Donna does everything he can to rebel against those in charge, doing all kinds of criminal activities. Though he is antisocial, he enjoys going to parties, carrying a guitar on his back to pull out and sing, in an offkey, offbeat style akin to Bob Dylan, songs that he has written himself that don't follow a real chord progression. He can tend to get into fights at parties, given his short-temperedness and the fact that those around him tend to heckle him about his music.
      
      Much like his brother, beneath everything, Donna's bitterness really stems from his family, his place in life, and the future that he will never have. He was seen as a failure in comparison to his brother, and this corroded his view of the world and of himself. In truth, Donna lacks any real sense of himself and of the world, only knowing what he should be and what he never will be.

      Donna, however, paled in comparison to Chelsea in all ways. He was not as smart. It took him several times longer to learn than him. In spite of how hard he was trying, he was nowhere near anything like Chelsea -- and he was constantly compared to Chelsea. Donna got it harder from Nicholas than even did Chelsea; every time that he failed to live up, Donna was shamed, humiliated, and punished.
      
      Nicholas took a more domineering position in Donna's life, depriving him of any affection and praise and instead strictly and sternly forcing Donna to do this and that and intensely criticizing him when he "failed". He was given no lee-way and was often referred to by his father as a disappointment. Neither his biological nor his adoptive mother wished to have anything to do with him.
      
      As he grew older, Donna grew tired of trying and being compared to the impossible standard of his brother. His grades began to fall even below his Bs and Cs, he went from an average member of the football team to the least valuable player, and he didn't practice his violin at all. His father's punishments got more intense, Nick even striking him a few times. His brother began to bully him for his existence, and Donna grew even sicker of it.
      
      He first dropped out of violin. He began to skip class, only attending football practice on occasion. Then, he picked up the habit of smoking. Drinking was an easy next, and then followed the drugs. This was an outrage to Nick, who threw several fits and, on multiple occasions, threw all of Donna's belongings out of the house and told him that he would never come back unless he stopped. This never lasted, though; his father always allowed him back in.
      
      He flunked sophomore year. Of course, he was already regarded as the burnout disappointment, but that was worse. And then, he abruptly left a note on the table a week before the summer of his second sophomore year that read, "btw im gay - D"
      
      And then, he skipped town for a week.
      
      When he returned, he looked rougher, but he was much the same. His father gave him a "talking to", forced him to shower, informed him that he had a date with a girl for the end of the week, made him go to that. As time went on, his father continued to set him up with girls, as though that would change anything.
      
      It is only junior year that his father has seemed to finally have stopped. He gives Donna the occasional "talking to", gives him pamphlets, but that's about it.
      
      Donna still plays football. Still plays guitar. Songwrites, sings -- rants. He's doing drugs, harder and harder and harder as time goes.
      
      But Donna is too far gone. Everyone knows that, even his own family.

      The other school burned down. Nothing has really changed, beyond there being more people.

      .. “DC” was the name that his parents preferred he be called — and that he preferred he be called until recently; “Donna” was a nickname he was given in his younger days by Chelsea, which was annoying at first but turned into a complete riot once Donna found out that it meant “woman”. It gradually grew to the thing that most people called him, including his parents. At this point, he doesn’t deeply care anymore what anyone calls him, though he still often corrects those who call him Donna, saying, “It’s DC.” DC, of course, being Donahue Calvin, not Donahue Camus as most seem to think.
      
      .. Donna used to be heavily involved in his middle school’s anti-drug program. He was the President of that for a time — “Chief Lameass” was what Chelsea called him.
      
      .. Unlike his brother, Donna believes that Freud was Chelsea’s biological dad. He doesn’t know that Chelsea thinks any differently, either.
      
      .. Donna had his “credit card privileges” revoked for a number of reasons. He mostly buys things with money he steals from Chelsea.
      
      .. Donna despises little kids yet is fascinated by them; he speaks to them very rudely and bluntly, but he does find their minds interesting in how they work.
      
      .. It was always Donna’s dream to have a cat when he was younger. He never got one, but it was still his dream.
      
      .. Donna claims that he can play the trumpet. He cannot — at least, not well enough to say he can — but he genuinely believes that he is skilled at it.

      Angeline was born with brown hair, but after much convincing, her parents allowed her to begin getting her hair dyed blonde in the sixth grade. She tries to keep the fact that she had brown hair from others and attempts to get everyone under the impression that she was born blonde. Her hair is naturally straight and falls at about mid-chest. She takes care in conditioning it and keeping it healthy. She often straightens it.

      As Auburn Springs' second in command, Angeline Jumper is one of the school's social elite, and she carries herself like it. She walks into rooms as if she owns them, speaks to others as though they're her old friends who are oh-so-far beneath her, and moves through life with her head held high. She is strong-willed, outspoken, and assertive, never taking anything lying down. She is proud, and very bold. She has a charisma about her, a magnetism that either repels or attracts you -- and there really is no in-between. She has a mean sense of humor and is a very comedic person, shoving in jokes (typically at others' expenses) at every chance she can catch.
      
      AJ is very intelligent and clever. She has high grades and prides herself on her intellectual capacity. She is goal-oriented and knows what she needs to do to reach her goals. She is very forward-thinking -- and also very jealous and vindictive, which are, altogether, a deadly combination. She is unafraid to mess up other's lives -- and she knows that she can. "Testing" her is like testing fate; it will catch up to you eventually. Oh? What was that? She ruined your social life? It's called karma, sweetheart -- you had it coming.
      
      Of course, Angie's view of being tested is very questionable; she tends to view being "tested" as people disobeying her wishes for them to stop doing things, even if what they are doing is inane -- again, she's very jealous. AJ is short-tempered and gets angry rather easily, though she doesn't really let her anger show.
      
      Angie is undyingly loyal to those who she is close to. Though there tends to be a high degree of jealousy towards them, she would do anything for those people. Beyond that, she is a gossiper, conniving and seeming to delight in the suffering of others.
      
      You know how they say that bullies are just insecure, though? Yes, with Angie, that is accurate. AJ obsesses over her appearance -- over her hair, over eating right and keeping thin, over being "perfect" in this way or that way -- to an unhealthy extent. Her views of herself are highly distorted; she constantly compares herself to others, growing increasingly hostile to those who she perceives as better or more than her in any way -- aside from Val, who she would never be hostile towards, even though she feels highly inferior to her. She is, once again, a very jealous being. She is jealous of those whose parents haven't outlined a future for them, of those who get to choose what they want to do with their time and their lives. She covers this up with pride, feigning that she feels the opposite and hiding all of her feelings beneath confidence, pretending to be more than satisfied with her life and herself when she is simply deeply unhappy with everything.

      Amanda and Fitzgerald Jumper were college sweethearts, so no one was surprised when the two very rich Springers married each other upon graduation, nor were they surprised when they announced their pregnancy in their third year of marriage. They were well-off -- after all, Amanda was an anesthesiologist and Fitz was a psychologist -- so there were no doubts that the child was going to be well cared for.
      
      Dakota Jumper -- DJ, or Kody -- was soon born, and he truly had it made for the first four years of his life. Spoiled rotten, given everything that he wanted...
      
      And then, along came Angeline.
      
      

      growing up

      Angie -- or AJ, as her parents wanted her to be called -- had an easy life, too. Growing up with her brother meant, well, a lot of sibling arguments, but that was typical. Her parents loved her, and she loved them.
      
      She began to show an interest in figure skating at around age four, and she begged her parents to sign her up for lessons. They agreed, and she began doing that along with her private schooling at a private school in town. She took to it naturally.
      
      Thus began the pressure from her parents to do more with it -- to go into it professionally.
      
      Throughout school, she showed much promise. She was one of the ones at the top of her class, and she was popular amongst her peers -- because she was likable, and sweet, and kind. However, she exhibited a lot of jealousy of others, even with her being spoiled, which was something that her teachers scolded her for often.
      
      When she hit middle school, she begged her parents to allow her to go to school with her neighbor and best friend, Val.
      
      From there, Angie became, well, a bitch.

      That’s where she stands -- Auburn Springs’ lady-in-waiting, if you will. She still gets a lot of pressure from her parents in her figure skating. They want her to go professional when she's out of high school, and she's going to do her damn best to do it -- even if that's far from what she personally wants to do.

      Ian Hansen is a bad boy -- or, at least, he desperately wants to be. Does he smoke? No. Can he drive? No. Does he wear leather, drink, do drugs, or stick it to the man? No, no, no, and no. But! He's still a bad boy, okay?
      
      Not really. But he tries. He tries to be impressive, tries to be funny, tries to be likable, tries to be independent and cool and interesting, but he miserably fails at all of it and winds up just being a kid. A wannabe. A whiny, annoying baby. He's a bad boy who is shy, soft-spoken, oblivious, socially inept, childish, meek, a pushover, and a keyboard warrior. He is highly insecure and defaults to a flimsy shield of "bad boy"ism that flops over at the slightest breath.
      
      See, Ian doesn't really have the "guts" to do that "bad boy" stuff. He's sensitive and caring, and he cares too much about what others think to ever do any heartbreaking. He's too accepting, forgiving, and conscientious of others' feelings to be an asshole. He's too meek, docile, easygoing, shy, and submissive -- too sheep-minded -- to be a leader. He's too self-conscious to be confident. He's too soft-spoken and easily intimidated to be feared. Though these would typically be seen as positive traits, Ian sees them as weaknesses. No one likes a soft person. He's a great friend, but...that's not who he wants to be. He often pushes people as far as he can get them, and then cries "uncle" and wusses out when the consequences of his actions come.
      
      He does have a likability and charm about him, though, but it's for all of the reasons that he doesn't want to. He's agreeable and personable. He's kind of dumb and says a lot of stupid things unwittingly. He's gullible, overly-generous, naïve, and irresponsible, and he has terrible impulse control. He's a danger to himself more than anything, especially when there are others to impress. He tries so hard to be cool and neat that he'll do just about anything someone asks him to. This often leads to people wanting to shelter him or seeing him as a little brother figure, which irritates him more than anything -- but he doesn't have the confidence in himself to speak up about it, so he often suffers in silence.
      
      Ian is also a creative person. He enjoys art, making music, and producing podcasts. Of course, that makes him even lamer, so...he doesn't really tell anyone about it, beyond his sister.

      Generally regarded as cute but somewhat odd-looking, Sydney has a triangular jaw, a cleft chin, and a head that seems just a little bit too big for his body. Though he is not really one to keep himself "proper"- or "neat"-looking, he keeps his eyebrows waxed and plucked into shape. As a younger boy, Syd was often teased for looking more "feminine", with his large, wide, bright blue eyes, small stature, and once rounder face, but as he has grown, his face has become more "masculine". He is one to take great care with his skin as well, doing a nightly regiment in an attempt to prevent breakouts.
      
      Sydney has light brown (or very, very dirty blonde) hair that is naturally straight and kept at a longer length. Often, it is hardly brushed and looks very wild and unkempt. When he was younger, his father used to make him keep it short and slicked back, and even then it would wind up wild before the day was over; of course, now that his father is no longer alive, there's no one to make him keep it neat, really. His hair's coarse texture and rebellious nature leads it to often poof around his head, almost like a helmet, but he doesn't really seem to mind this fact.

He has always been one of the smallest boys in class, and at this point, he is the smallest boy in his grade. Still, he is holding onto the hope that he will hit a growth spurt soon...but it seems unlikely that he'll be very much taller than he is now, since his dad only ever grew to be 5'9" himself, while his mother stood at 5'0".

      Syd jokingly refers to himself as an NPC -- but really, it's the truth. He's always in a positive mood, even when he isn't; he's a shoulder to cry on and someone to laugh with, a sweet-hearted cheeky bastard to cheer you up when you're down or just listen, if that's what you want. He's nonjudgmental, even if he does tease people about just about everything. He's sensitive to other's feelings and tries to please and comfort everyone he can in every way possible, even if this requires a little bit of (or a lot of bit of) dishonesty sometimes. He focuses on other people's lives and invests himself in theirs, not really his own.
      
      Syd is a very sociable boy with a likable charm that tends to keep people around him. He's known to be mostly compliant and docile when it comes to things that other people want him to do, leading him to often be referred to as a "pushover" or "bitch". Still, he doesn't often allow himself to get kicked around by others. He embarrasses easily, and he tends to also be called a "scaredy cat", "prude", and "wuss" -- this is in spite of his troublemaking, as his troublemaking isn't well-known.
      
      Syd is fairly clumsy and somewhat lazy. He procrastinates as long as possible rather than get anything done when he should. He has a good sense of humor (and a kind of immature one, but dick jokes are funny, okay), often makes jokes regardless of the situation (and ofttimes against his better interest), and can get along with pretty much anyone — and he’ll do his best to get along with everyone. He dislikes serious, awkward, and tense situations, and he tends to try and joke or distract when in those.
      
      He seems like a nice, average guy who has his life together, and he'd have you believe that he is; of course, the truth is far from that.
      
      Syd is a very jealous person and often acts selfishly. He has very little forethought and hardly thinks of the long-term effects of things. He often kisses up to people to get them to like him, even when he internally despises them and mocks them behind his back. He can be somewhat manipulative to get his way, often exploiting his relationships to people in order to get what he wants. He is a deeply sensitive person, and he doesn't want to hurt these people...so he manipulates as subtly as he can. He tends to side with the person who he is talking to at all times, even if he feels oppositely and even if that person is insulting someone who he likes. After all, he is dishonest about his thoughts and his feelings. Though he may seem genuine, he is very rarely telling the truth.
      
      Syd makes very poor decisions for himself -- a bit hypocritical, seeing as he tries to prevent everyone around him from making bad decisions. On his own (and around certain people), he tends to be reckless and impulsive, doing "dumb shit" that could very easily get him hurt, killed, or in very big trouble. He smokes, does petty crime, and has a general disregard for his own wellbeing.
      
      Beneath all of it, Sydney is very insecure, especially in his masculinity -- the main reason that he embarrasses so easily. Because of this, he plays the part he knows others want to see. He is sensitive and tends to take others' words to heart, but he bottles up his emotions, neither expressing them nor venting them in any healthy capacity. He covers up and deflects with humor (or..."humor"). He seeks approval over being genuine and honest. He sees his problems and actions as unimportant to others, and he dismisses his own harmful behavior as nothing.

      in the beginning

      For several years, Katherine and Jonathan Duvant had been trying for children, with no luck. Now that Jonathan had hit 40 and Katherine 38, they were beginning to doubt that it was ever going to happen. Beyond that, Kat's doctor warned her about the dangers of pregnancy given her long list of health issues. However, by some miracle, she and her husband managed to conceive a child. The name was a point of serious debate: Kat wanted Sydney, and Jonathan wanted Eric. In the end, they settled on Eric, and they began intense planning and preparation.
      
      Then came the long-awaited day of the child's birth. Unfortunately, it would be Kat's last day.
      
      Jonathan named the child Sydney, as she had wanted to name him, and vowed to raise the child as best as possible on his own.

      early childhood

      As a young child, Sydney wasn't particularly bright or outstanding and showed no particularly proclivities towards anything remarkable. He liked soccer, wresting, and kung-fu movies. He was kind of dumb, and he cried a lot. He was your standard, run-of-the-mill child.
      
      That was about it for his early-early-early life. Sydney finished preschool and was off to Auburn Springs' kindergarten class in a blink of his father's eye.
      
      On the first day of kindergarten, during recess, Sydney was playing with a couple of kids who he knew from preschool. Out came his pristine G.I. Joe from his backpack to join the crew of mangled, school-issued Barbies and headless Kens that the other children had taken from the classroom to many "ooh"s and "aah"s from his fellow playmates.
      
      Of course, that was bound to last for a short amount of time. What kind of self-respecting kindergartener would pass up the opportunity to grab a good-looking action figure for their own?
      
      This is just what Ophelia Warren did -- just ran up and snatched the figure from him.
      
      After a moment of bewilderment, Syd gave chase. For nearly all of recess they ran, until Syd was so tired that he couldn't run anymore and just sat down to cry on the side of the mulchy enclosure. (Syd was really a crybaby.)
      
      This cryfest didn't last long, however, because up came two girls, asking him what was wrong and what had happened. Syd, through sniffles, told him, and the one named Kassidy Hale stayed to comfort him, whilst Darcy Harris ran off to go barter custody over poor G.I. Joe. It was decided that Syd would let Ophelia borrow the toy for a day and that she would return it to him the next.
      
      (This, of course, did not last long, and Sydney still hasn't gotten ol' Joe back to this day. He's still trying.)
      
      Thus formed the tight-knit friend group of Kass, Darcy, Oph, and Syd...but there was still another member to be added.
      
      That afternoon, at the first soccer practice (that was really more of a soccer meeting, full of boring do thises and don't do thats), Sydney met someone who would become his closest friend: Emmett Gray.
      
      The two boys hit it off quickly, and soon thereafter, Sydney introduced the group to Emmett and Emmett to the group.

      Middle school started off pretty great for Syd.
      
      Syd's grades were surprisingly high for him. Instead of Bs and Cs, the boy was getting As. He had four of the best friends that a boy could ask for, and soccer was going amazingly. They made it to playoffs, in fact, and Syd was even named MVP for soccer his sixth grade year. (For an average guy like him, that acknowledgement of "outstanding"-ness was something to write home about.)
      
      And then came...seventh grade, when everything started going downhill.
      
      At the start of his seventh grade year, Jon's health began to decline, and, on Valentine's day of his seventh grade year, Sydney got pulled from class and taken to the hospital by one of his father's benevolent friends. Upon arrival, Sydney was told that his father had had a heart attack, but that his condition looked to be improving. Even so, he would have to have a pacemaker put in, and he would be put on medication for a heart disease. He should've been improving and going back to normal life shortly, said the doctor, and that was that.
      
      From there, life...well, life seemed to be going okay. Not great, but his dad's heath was improving, and life could return to normal. Syd's grades had fallen in the time that his father was in the hospital, and he was working hard to improve. He'd been falling behind in soccer as well, missing practice often and going from last year's MVP to a burden to the team. The coach held an intervention with him and said that she'd have to kick him off if he didn't get better in that -- which he tried to do. He tried to put a stop to this when his father got out, but the habits that he'd formed persisted.
      
      Life was...improving from where it had fallen, if slowly. Sydney's relationship with his father had been strengthened by him going to the hospital, and his father helped in Syd's attempt to get himself back onto his feet.
      
      Then came the seventh grade dance.
      
      Let's set the scene: it was the pizza parlor that they all went to, and the gang was all there-- you know, Emmett, Kassidy, Darcy, Sydney, and Ophelia. The scent of melted cheese and pizza grease wafted through the air --
      
      And right there, in that romantic setting, Em asked Kass to the dance.
      
      And right there, in that romantic setting, Syd felt his heart lurch.
      
      Syd's feelings made sense to him suddenly, right there --
      
      The times when the two were alone and it got quiet and Sydney got the sudden feeling that he had to say something to keep his heart from exploding in his chest. The nights he spent staying awake, just wondering what would happen if...if he were to kiss Em or -- or something dumb, something crazy like that. The jealousy that panged in his heart every time that Em brought up Kass -- every time that he caught Em staring at Kass, every time the two of them flirted with each other, every time that they were...
      
      It all made sense.
      
      Sydney was in love Em.
      
      It hurt when Em and Kass started dating. It hurt worse than anything.
      
      He immediately wanted them over, but he felt like that was rash. It was...crazy, right?
      
      Syd went to talk to Oph and ask her how she felt about Kass and Em getting together -- only to find that Ophelia thought that it was just as bad of an idea as he did. This was affirmation for him -- or, rather, it was hope. He realized how selfish it may have been, but...well, it wasn't good for Em...right? It couldn't be that selfish, because Oph had backed him up.
      
      And there, the two resolved that they should try their best to get them apart, because it "wasn't good for them".
      
      (No, he didn't tell her his true motivation. How could he have-- and why should he have? She said that it was a bad idea, and...well, he agreed. That was all that mattered, right?)
      
      Thus began Syd's operation to separate Em and Kass. Syd remained friends with Kass, pretending to be supportive toward her relationship while stating his disapproval of the relationship to Em at every opportunity and trying to get them to break up under the guise that "it wasn't good for them. He didn't hate Kass, or even dislike her. He was just jealous. He wanted her to be happy--
      
      Just not with Em.
      
      At the start of ninth grade, Em began moved to Ambridge, and the two drifted slightly, but they were still fairly close, and they hung out as often as they could.
      
      Around winter of ninth grade, Jon's heart started to get bad again, and his medication didn't seem to be helping. He was hospitalized frequently, and for weeks at a time. He got heart surgery, but his condition only seemed to worsen, and he started being held in the hospital, in too bad of condition to return home.
      
      Sydney was struggling throughout this time. He was trying to get a grasp on who he was, and what his feelings meant for him. His father with whom he was very close was suddenly absent and things weren't looking too good for him. Sydney's grades fell again, and he found himself more inclined toward risky behavior. He became lazy with his work, or just didn't do it at all. He got another warning from his coach.
      
      One day, in the hospital room, Syd asked his dad what he would do if he was gay, and his dad responded with a simple answer: "I would be very disappointed. I'd think I raised you better than that."
      
      Syd knew what this meant. You would be a disgrace. I would never forgive you.
      
      How encouraging.
      
      Syd's father's opinion was the one who he cared about the most, and, now, Syd felt even more averted to even imagining telling his feelings or being genuine with those around him. He was gay and had feelings for his best friend, but he couldn't tell anyone, or his father would be disappointed, his relationships would be ruined, and he...
      
      He just couldn't do that.
      
      His father, sure that his time was growing short, began to push Syd more toward the business. The heavy drugs that he was on were making him delirious and unlike himself. He began to scold Syd even more for his sensitivity, pointing out every point where Syd showed "weakness" (sensitivity) and trying to squash them. Syd's insecurity, especially in his masculinity, began to grow, and he began to shove his emotions and feelings even further down.
      
      And then, on the first day of spring, at the end of Syd's ninth grade year, Jonathan Duvant, 56, passed away from a heart attack in the hospital while Syd was at school one day, and Syd's life was thrown into a disarray.
      
      It was all a blur, if he's honest. He can't remember much of what happened. One day, he was attending the funeral, watching with a stone face as his father was lowered into the ground, and the next, he was moving in with his aunt, who he hardly knew.
      
      Not only this, but Darcy, one of his closest friends, was getting sent to anger management for beating up some kids at her school, and...
      
      Syd had no idea what to do. He was lost, unsure of where to go from here.
      
      Syd started trying to kiss up to his new brothers, Sam and Ed Jarvis. He knew his father had a big respect for the family, and he wanted to honor that by being close with the members of this revered family that he was now a part of. Sam was receptive, and, though Ed wasn't, Sydney still tried to impress Ed and become his friend.
      
      Sydney and Emmett started growing closer than ever before. The two veered off of the straight and narrow together. Em got Syd smoking cigarettes, and the two did "dumb shit" together. Time with Em was an escape -- an escape from everything. They were going down, but they were going down together.
      
      And Syd's feelings grew for Em -- and they grew day by day. He was in love with Em -- hopelessly so.
      
      He started pushing for Em to break up with Kass more, the closer and closer they got. He lied, saying that he heard that Kass was flirting with such-and-such or had said such-and-such, and they piled up over time, until, well...the camel's back broke.
      
      One day in the summer before sophomore year, they all had a group meeting set up at the pizza parlor -- Oph, Syd, Em, and Kass -- and Em didn't show up.
      
      Kass had an announcement to make: she and Emmett had broken up. She seemed upset, and she stormed out.
      
      He didn't like to see Kass upset, no. He didn't want Kass to hurt. Really, it did hurt him to see, when he saw how...torn she was.
      
      But it was "for the better" that they were separated.
      
      And he couldn't help but feel...victorious, when all was said and done.
      
      So, did he and Oph eat the pizza that they'd ordered? Well, yeah. They couldn't let it go to waste.
      
      And it tasted so damn good.

      The friend group started to dissolve after the breakup and fully dissipated by the start of sophomore year.
      
      Em was still going to Ambridge. They still hung out on weekends and were still very close. Syd tried to keep in contact with his friends. Darcy was gone, so he couldn't talk to her. He offered Kass support, but it was mostly out of formality and because he wanted to seem like a good friend, not because he was sympathetic that the breakup happened. (It was what he wanted to happen, after all, and he was part of why it happened.)
      
      Sydney was seriously struggling to cope with the death of his father, his sexuality, the splitting of his friend group, and everything that was happening around him. He was denying himself emotions and struggling to cope with his feelings.
      
      The doing of dumb shit did not stop, either (-- and hasn't stopped). If anything, it worsened. His grades fell. He skipped school frequently and lied to his family, saying that he wasn't. He was (and is) still in soccer, but he's an average player. (At least he's not a total burden to the team now, right?)
      
      The start of junior year didn't start too much better for Syd. His grades were low, and he was still struggling with himself.
      
      Then, the school burned down, and now, Em is here, and they're growing even closer than before now, because they can see each other far more often -- which is a double-edged sword.

      Ingrid, at first glance, would seem to be almost a caricature of your stereotypical Bridger. Reckless, pretty dumb, and very loud, Iggy Ellis is has a large and very strong personality. She always has something to complain about very loudly and a bone to pick very aggressively with each and every thing and person. If she dislikes you, she will say it outright.     Raven's very serious about her appearance. As a young girl she wasn't the most... popular or prettiest of the bunch and as she got older, she strove to change that.
    
    Not for popularity. The girl couldn't care less about what people thought of her, but for her own self confidence. She knew who she wanted to be and she made it happen.
    
    Glasses were traded in for contacts and her style significantly changed as the years went on. She learned how to sew, made her own clothes out of rags, recycled from thrift stores, or she found a way to buy the things that she wanted.

    Raven Rivera was born to Andrea Rivera, daughter of Antonio Moore.
    
    Andrea, more commonly known as Andi-- especially in her teenage years, was this charismatic, intimidating party girl that everyone was either obsessed with or afraid of.
    
    She'd gotten pregnant junior year of high school with newly graduated heartthrob Antonio Moore. They dated on and off throughout high school; easily becoming that couple of Ambridge High. However, once he graduated, his involvement in Darien Monroe's gang had only worsened.
    
    Naturally, Andi decided to stray away from him because of this, deciding not to tell him about the pregnancy in the hopes of keeping her child safe. Rose, Andrea's mother had pushed the idea of an abortion, a seventeen year old still in high school wasn't ready for the responsibility of a child, but Andrea was always trouble to her mother and she'd taken it as being the clear disappointment of a daughter that Rose didn't want.
    
    When Rose threatened to kick her out of the house, Andrea took intuitive and left of her own will, much to her mother's shock and dismay.
    
    Andi struggled financially and mentally, bounced between places, between jobs, eventually found a place of some sort and she juggled work, a social life and Raven all at once.
    
    Andrea had thrown her daughter on friends, distant family she'd stay with while she was out all hours of the day.
    
    Supposedly working, but that wasn't the case. The jobs she'd worked, the crowds she ran with, eventually Andrea became a substance abuser a little over a year of Raven being born.

    Growing up, Raven had learned to provide for herself at a young age. Before she knew any better and had a sense of morals she did steal from time to time.
    
    Usually, everything that had to be done, was done by herself.
    
    Cleaning, cooking, (even if it was terrible,) walking to school by herself-- until accompanied by Dani. Waking her mother up from a drug-induced slumber because the landlord was outside, awaiting rent.
    
    Nothing ever came easy for Raven. Nothing ever came easy for anyone unless they sat in Auburn Springs. A lifetime full of riches and wishes that came true with a snap of a finger.
    
    Raven's father, Antonio had learned about his daughter's existence from Darien, having their daughters be close to each other.
    
    Him wanting to get involved in his daughter's life had only made an Andi extremely possessive, and Antonio had done his own investigating and had learned Andi was an addict, despite wanting to help her-- she wasn't budging, persisting that she was fine.
    
    Antonio had no choice to call protective services against her, although social services had decided to place her with her grandmother since his 'alleged' involvement with criminal activity in his past.
    
    Raven was only around eight or so when most of this was happening, she'd never actually met Antonio. At least, she'd never met him introduced as her father. He was her mother's 'friend' who came over a few times and they talked, argued outside. If you'd ask her to describe him now, it'd be a bit fuzzy.
    
    Rose, Raven's grandmother was shockingly happy to take her in despite wanting the abortion for Andrea all those years ago. The adjustment was hard at first. But Rose held Raven's best interests at heart, much like she tried with Andrea even if her daughter hadn't seen it.
    
    Andrea came around here and there afterwards, whether it was for money or because she suddenly felt the need to see her daughter, Raven had always tried to give her mother the benefit of the doubt, but soon enough it was just placed with bitterness.
    
    With Antonio? He wasn't allowed anywhere near her.
    
    Not that Raven knew any of that, but Rose had specific instructions.
    
    Living with her grandmother was... well, it felt like the entire world wasn't on her shoulders anymore. A ten year old shouldn't have to be the adult, and it took Raven a long time to realize that.
    
    Those few years, life was easier.
    
    She didn't have to resort to stealing-- or more importantly, she wasn't allowed to. It was somewhat of a moral code for her grandmother and slowly by slowly, Rose had thrown her superstitions, morals, and whatever else she could've into Raven.
    
    Shaping her into the confident woman she is today.
    
    Five years later, an accident landed Rose in the hospital and she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers. Just like that, the world was on her shoulders once again and everything was as good as upside down. Everything had suddenly become all-too-real and Raven didn't know how to juggle everything at once.
    
    She figured it out. Slowly by slowly everything came together. Insurance had paid for a full-time nurse, (Raven's best friend minus you know who, but that isn't important.) Disability checks were enough to keep them afloat. Pay for utilities and necessities.
    
    It was emotionally draining to see her grandmother changing every other day, but Raven refused to acknowledge anything was different.
    
    She remained indifferent.

    And if she had a little fun along the way? There was no harm in that.
    
    I know what you're thinking, how could she want to be something better?

    There was nothing wrong with wanting to make something out of yourself. It was entirely possible and it was something she believed with her entire existence.

    Ryan is the resident goofball and the biggest idiot of Ambridge (and that's really saying something). He is known for his sociable disposition and ability to get himself into trouble. He is more accident prone than a toddler with the survival instincts of a blind rat which leads nearly everyone to be surprised that he somehow made it to seventeen.
    
    A joker at heart, Ryan loves to make people happy and tries to diffuse tension with a laugh (spoiler: it usually ends with him getting punched in the face). Ryan's intentions are good though, he never wants the people he cares about to suffer. Ryan will do whatever it takes to make sure the people he loves are taken care of, even if it means putting himself at risk. He refuses to take credit for it and will often shut people down if they make an attempt to thank him or pay him back. It frustrates him to think that caring about people makes them feel like they owe him.
    
    Behind the giggles and the smiles, Ryan has a darker side. He's a thief and someone that keeps secrets from even the people he is closest to. But he is also a soft person, deeply emotional and vulnerable behind closed doors. Very few people see this side of him as it remains locked up tight.

    James Ryan Murphy was born on January 19th in downtown Ambridge. The result of a crossfaded tumble between his father and mother, Ryan was born into a life of poverty and hardship. He grew up in shelters, trailers, backseats of cars, on the streets... Practically anywhere with any ounce of shelter and protection.
    
    Ryan never really had a lot of comfort growing up. He became independent from a young age due to his parents' constant drug use. His fingers became sticky in supermarkets and gas stations, he became great at lying to people to get what he needed. As far as he's concerned, Ryan raised himself. His parents were often too high to notice and, on the off chance they weren't faded, they weren't the most loving of people. Ryan resents them for this but is also thankful for the skills he got from needing to survive.

    Things got rough in middle school after he got caught stealing clothes from a local bargain store. He ended up getting pinned for various other thefts and ended up spending three months in juvenile detention during grade eight. After getting out, things weren't the same. He was angry at the world, angry at his parents, angry at himself. The friendly and playful Ryan that people knew was gone, replaced with a husk. He started stealing anything he could get his hands on: clothes, food, electronics, money, clothes. He made a decent living off of it, eventually being able to afford a room at a local hostel.

    Shit once again hit the fan after Ryan got a tad too bold with his moves and got caught stealing over $600 worth of merchandise during his junior year of high school. Once again faced with jail time, Ryan spent just over six months in jail for the theft. Ryan lost everything during that time. He finished his junior year while in jail but he lost his room, got most of his stuff taken from him, and was booted back onto the streets as soon as his time was up at the end of the July between his junior and senior year. He crawled back to his parents, absolutely defeated. They ridiculed him, tore him down for his attempt at being on his own. Ryan was at his lowest point and very few people knew.
    
    Ryan wanted out of Ambridge more than anything but their fucking school burning to the ground was not how he wanted to get out. He fears judgement if anyone finds out about his criminal record or his current homeless situation or his parents' heavy drug addictions and neglect of their son or the fact that while he was in jail, he had made the discovery that he much prefers the company of other guys over girls. There is so much of Ryan that he's pushed down, faking his true emotions with jokes or his fists. He just wants to graduate and get the hell out of Ambridge.     Darcy Harris is an opinionated loud-mouth with anger issues and a deep appreciation of causing people physical and emotional pain... At least that's what her file at St Andrews said.
    
    To a certain degree, that description is accurate. Darcy is a sarcastic person with the ability to get under people's skin. The queen of conflict, Darcy finds herself in the middle of drama more often than not and has had more fights than fingers and toes combined. She holds grudges for a long time and refuses to let up even after an apology is made. Once you're on Darcy's bad side, there's a target on your back for the rest of time.
    
    But only seeing the bad parts of Darcy is a great disservice to the good parts of her. Darcy is deathly loyal and a reliable friend. She's a lot smarter than she lets on and has a creative streak that correlates to her twin brother's. She's insightful and wise, looking at the future with a sort of realistic optimism and the past with a scornful gaze. Little hurts Darcy, physical or emotional or otherwise, and she takes the brunt of the pain for the people that she loves. Darcy may seem like a coldhearted or annoying bitch to people who don't know her but at the end of the day, she is really just someone that saves her love for the people that she deem deserve it.
  • the early days

    Darcy was born on August 15th to teenage parents just a few minutes after her twin brother, Xander. Their early years were spent bouncing from foster home to foster home, Darcy usually keeping to herself. Unlike her current self, toddler Darcy was incredibly shy and quiet, mindlessly obeying what people told her to do. She was the pushover of the foster homes, easily manipulated by older kids if they wanted to. Eventually, Darcy and Xander found themselves in the home of Karen and Steve Harris. The pair were an older duo, their lives previously being consumed by work and eventual age-related infertility, thus leading them to adopt the twins.
    
    Settling into the idea of having a family was difficult for Darcy, security and stability being a difficult concept for her to grasp even from a young age. They lived comfortably, years of working in well-paying jobs offering a financial security that Darcy had previously desired. Slowly but surely, Darcy began to feel like Karen and Steve were actually family. It was a strange feeling to call someone besides Xander family but Darcy was beginning to think that the idea of the fancy house and the money and the loving parents wasn’t so bad.

    Darcy struggled with socialising in her earlier years. She was shy, overly cautious, worried about impressing people. So of course, when her and Xan had successfully kicked a soccer ball into their neighbour’s backyard, Darcy panicked. Luckily, a girl around their age had returned the ball. She was so kind, so polite. At first, Kassidy Hale was the most intimidating five year old Darcy had ever seen. The next time the ball found itself in the Hales’ backyard, it wasn’t an accident. Darcy wanted to talk more to the girl but was far too nervous to actually talk to her. So, over the fence the soccer ball went. This became a routine: Darcy would throw the ball over the fence, Kass would return it. Wash, rinse, repeat.
    
    One day, her plan crumbled around her. Darcy had launched the ball over the fence and, instead of the mysterious ray of sunshine she had grown to admire returning the ball, it was another girl who was demanding to know why she kept throwing the ball over the fence. Darcy was horrified until the girl, who she would come to know as Ophelia Warren, invited Darcy to come play with her and Kass. From that moment on, Darcy began to open up. Ophelia and Kass were amazing friends.
    
    When school eventually started, Darcy clung to the girls as if her life depended on it. One fateful day on the playground would flip this attitude completely on its head. Ophelia, being Ophelia, had stolen another kid’s G.I. Joe and, after a lovely chase, had left the kid crying on the swings. Being by Kass’s side constantly, Darcy found herself trying to comfort the boy. Once she finally figured out what the hell he was crying about, Kass stayed behind to comfort the kid while Darcy went to barter for the G.I. Joe’s custody. Through the drama G.I. Joe kid, a boy named Sydney, became a member of their friend group and, not long after, another boy named Emmett.
    
    The five quickly became inseparable. Even after Darcy’s parents decided to ship her and Xander off to a private school, the group remained close. Sure, everyone has their ups and downs, but at the end of the day they were always there for each other.

    Private school wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Darcy just kept to herself, hanging with her select few friends and rushing back to Auburn Springs to hang with Kass, Ophie, Syd, and Emmett every chance she got. Sure, her grades weren’t the best and she may or may not have gotten kicked out of drama club for being “too involved in the role” (apparently actually slapping a jerk lead in the face is a bad thing), but Darcy was doing relatively well.
    
    Maybe things would’ve kept on the positive incline if things hadn’t gone wrong with Xander. Darcy wasn’t entirely sure when Xander had made the discovery that he was a boy but as soon as he told her, Darcy was 110% on board. She was prepared to be there for him no matter what, even if it meant losing the cushy life they had with Karen and Steve. Luckily, they were relatively accepting and Xan began to transition.
    
    Darcy wasn’t entirely aware of the bullying in relation to Xander until it was too late. She knew that not everyone at their school was accepting and had been known to tell off transphobic students if she heard them say anything. But while Xander was being bullied, Darcy was off on her own, starting her own trouble. A bad group of upperclassmen had decided Darcy would be a great person to use and manipulate. Darcy caught onto their little game quickly but not without damage. She wandered the halls with a chip on her shoulder, constantly on guard.
    
    When Karen and Steve finally sat down with her to explain that they were pulling Xander from school due to the severity of the bullying, it was too late for Darcy to handle the situation in a mature manner. When given the option to stay in the school, Darcy took it. For well over a month, Darcy talked her way around to figure out who had been the root of the bullying. One day after school, Darcy cornered the boy. She doesn’t remember a lot of what happened, going blackout from the rage, but what she does remember was her fist making contact with the boy’s face. The next thing she knew, he was a bloodied heap on the ground and she was being dragged away in handcuffs.
    
    The boy’s parents were pressing charges against fourteen year old Darcy as their son laid unconscious in a hospital bed. No one would listen to Darcy’s reasoning, no one would even try to understand that she only went after the boy because he had hurt Xander. Never once did Darcy show remorse for what she did, making the situation entirely worse. A lengthy legal battle later, Darcy was faced with a decision: go to jail for the rest of her teen years or spend a year in a live-in therapy and anger-management facility. Picking the obvious choice, the charges against Darcy were dropped and she was sent off to St Andrews Home for Troubled Teens.

    Darcy’s arrival at St Andrews would start a year of complete hell. The first step they took was to completely disconnect her from the rest of the outside world. She had barely had time to say goodbye to her friends and brother before she was completely disconnected, only allowed phone calls to one parent once a week. Her room was small and shared with another teenage girl that, in all honesty, scared the living shit out of Darcy.
    
    Like every other student, she rose before the sun to make her room immaculate. She was forced to take medicine, sat down for endless hours in front of books, cornered in therapy rooms as they tried to pick apart why she was so broken. Darcy was exhausted, terrified, alone. She missed her home, she missed Xan, she missed her friends. Yet, even though Darcy knew that there was a clear out if she simply went along with the school’s bullshit techniques, she kept fighting.

    Instead of fixing the anger that brewed within her, the school simply decided to break her. They drove her to exhaustion, convinced her she was useless. One professor specifically had an affinity for marking his territory, threatening to revoke their offer and send Darcy to jail as a failed student if she ever spoke about what he did behind the closed doors of his office. Time and time again, the event became a habit and Darcy said nothing. They had won.
    
    Darcy pretended she was fine to her parents, smiling and forcing the happiness onto her face. No one was any the wiser, unaware of the horrors she had experienced behind the old doors of St Andrews. After a year of abuse, of lying, of pain, Darcy was finally deemed ‘fixed’ and released back to the public.
    
    Fresh out of the gates of Hell, Darcy is genuinely terrified to be home. She knows she’ll make another mistake, she is simply waiting for the hammer to drop. It definitely didn’t help that, upon her return, the childhood group that she had held so dear through her darkest days had shattered to pieces. Instead of opening up about her experience, Darcy has simply pushed everything down and locked it away, resolving that the only person that could ever know was herself. St Andrews had taught her one thing, after all: shut up and lie about your happiness.

    On the positive side of her personality Lola (if she put's her mind to it) could be a straight A student. Well if she put her mind to it and in her early years wasn't more worried about if she was going to eat that night or not. However because of that she's not just book smart. She knows there is more to the world then that and knows she needs to be street smart as well to get her out of the life she's had so far. If Lola wants something she'll figure out a way to get it.     Lola and Link have a lot in common, but also are very different. A major difference is while he is spontaneous and reckless by taking risks...she can't. She doesn't like leaving anything up to chance if she can help it. The world is already careless enough as it is without her adding to it. Sure not every plan goes according to plan...but she'd rather have one, and a plan B in case it falls through then just wing it. She is also more recluse then he is.
    
    On the negative side of her personality she is extremely bitter and filled with rage over the effects other peoples decisions have had on her life. She is bitter about the fact that her father could've help them out this whole time and didn't. She is bitter about the fact her mother had to die for them to get a better life. She is bitter about the fact that she has bounced from "family" to "family" yet still doesn't have one (well aside from Link). She tries to not let it show, but she holds a serious grudge for it all. That partnered with her survival skills make her out to be quite the silent dellinquent. Things like petty theivery. It started out as a little five finger discount to make sure they had things they needed to survive and then turned into it being about keeping up with her peers, to now she just does it for fun. Just because she knows she can. Even when she is caught it encourages her to try and be better next time. It's almost like a game to her.
    
    She acts very confident and like she doesn't care about the opinion of others...but she does. Well some people. She doesn't feel like she is especially pretty, and deep down she doesn't know if she has what it takes to actually pull her and her brother out of this pit...that maybe some people like her are born to be miserable. She uses all these skills for all the wrong things. She is a digital con-artist. While her people skills leave a lot to be desired in person from time to time, online she has scammed the best of the best by this point. She's hacked into companies, bank accounts, ect.     Between the conditions of having to grow up without a stable father figure, a struggling overworked mother, and a grandmother who seemed to take every chance she could to throw that in their faces...it's a wonder their is even a bit of softness sin her. Not that she'd want anyone to see it. Not that she had the luxury of letting people see it.

    Struggling to make ends meet their mother worked 3 jobs so Link and Lola naturally raised themselves and each other. More so Link in the early years then Lola, but still. They even had to take care of their ill grandmother till fate put her out of her misery when they were only 9. Then it was just them against the world, and while she hated how cruel the world had been, she was always a little grateful she had at least one person she could count on.
    
    They'd go over to friends houses, some the same some different. They'd mooch off their food and other resources. This was how she grew attached to gaming since she played whatever system was at the house of choice that day. Hanging around her brother and his guy friends turned her into a bit of a tomboy in her early years.
    
    Plus families with boys knew how much boys eat so there was always more food there. As they entered high school things didn't get any better. Link hung out with the rebellious crowd and while she'd tag along for the ride sometimes other times she'd sneak away to be on her own and study, or break into the computer labs to game and learn how to do other things on it.
    
    Thanks to a tech teacher back in middle school she learned the basics of programing and from their she became kind of a tech genius. Her more reclusive form of rebellion didn't put as much of a strain on her and her mothers relationship like it did link. Though her mother always kept an eye on her because Lola never asked for anything, but she always had...things. She always had a few bucks to spare especially as she got older.
    
    Her mother knew better then to ask though because help was help. Lola was always worried about Link especially when he wouldn't come home unless she knew whose place he was at. As the tragedy sunk in so did the fire, and determination to get the hell out of this miserable place. They were taken by CPS and put in the foster care system for months. Of course no one wanted teenaged twins that refused to be separated, so they bounced from house to miserable house.
    
    Her skills with a computer being their only saving grace that secretly kept them together. They weren't always treated terribly, but that didn't matter in her eyes.     Onyx in a nutshell is actually a very nice girl. But like all nice girls there is their sweet lovable side that attracts people from far and wide...then their is the part that people try to forget it there.
    
    On the plus side she is a loyal friend. If she's calling you her friend that's one of the few things she takes seriously because she takes love and commitment seriously. It may sound odd but Onyx is not a hook up type girl. She's a "every relationship the THE ONE until proven otherwise" type of girl.
    
    She's been this way since middle school so yes anyone she dated in middle school she thought they would get married one day. She was the girl doodling "Mr.s" whoever all over her journals. Passing notes, the works. So of course she's got to defend her future hubby is anyone says or does something to hurt him.
    
    This goes for her future bridesmaids. She'd love to make sure the girls beside her on her special day have been by her side through thick and thin since day one. So of course she knows she has to return the favor. She'd love to be the maid of honor at at least two of her friends weddings in the future, and as for being just in the wedding party? 27 dresses sounds like a challange to be conqoured.
    
    Catching a pattern here yet? She is in love with love. For better or for worse.
    
    Bright side it makes her valuable to have on your side. Dark side...it comes off unrealistic, ditzy, and even sometimes obsessive.
    
    She's also the girl who has been planning her dream wedding since she was 12 and has the pintrest board to prove it. She expects to get what she gives in every relationship. Friendship or romantic. Since she gives a lot she expects a lot hence why she doesn't get into very many relationships. because most 14-17 year old guys are not prepared to settle down and plan a while life with someone.
    
    Normally you'd think she'd be afraid of being forever alone due to this, but nope! She has an unbridled amount of optimism and unchecked vanity. Because yes...since she has no idea what to do with her life other then get married and have a family she is a ok if that includes not working a day in her life and just staying pretty.
    
    Aside from her romantic obsession Onyx is kind and usually open minded. She adapt to whatever friend group she is around.     Middle school was a breeze for her. Not grade wise since she almost failed 7th grade, but popularity wise. She was cute, sweet, and like most of the other kids had money and connections. Not to mention she hung out mostly with the jocks (it's what she knew ok?) from cheer to the few years she tried being on the actual teams. She was good at sports, and the coaches begged her to take it seriously that way she could be like her sister and father one day to go pro...but that just bored her.
    
    She was much more interested in finding her future soulmate. Often labeled a daydreamer by her teachers, and a bit of a tease by her peers. Since While she wanted a boyfriend really badly they had to have certain qualifications. What the girl had standards and knew her worth sue her? In a hook-up culture generation she was surprisingly old school. She wanted to be whoo'd and courted, and treated like a princess.

    There are many ways to describe Valerie but nice would probably not be one of them. Her need for revenge fuels the idea that she is kind of a bitch and it's the absolute truth. Val hardly ever bites her tongue when it comes to opinions. Still, there is a lot more to her than meets the eyes, she's not all bad even if she does come off as such ninety percent of the time. Certain things and people can bring out Val's softer side and can get her to let her guard down even if only for a moment. Valerie isn't one to hide the fact that she feels like she is better than most, often flaunting this fact and throwing insults at others. Although she can be fiercely loyal to those who show her the same respect, she has no problem with cutting ties and/or hurting those who she feels betray her. She will go to whatever lengths to do so without a second thought and she's rarely apologetic for her actions/words. You'd be better off with her as a friend than a foe but the choice is yours.

    Valerie was born to Isabel and Ricardo Flores right in the heart of Auburn Springs. Her parents were already very well-known in the community with her mother being a socialite and her father a lawyer.
    
    As soon as Valerie came into the world she was ordering everyone around via screams and obviously getting her way. Her parents, while home fairly often, still let the nannies do most of the "raising" Val. Of course, when her bossiness and yelling didn't run them off then her ridiculously spoiled requests did.
    
    Since she could speak, Valerie has always been used to getting and being the best. She had the best clothes, the best parties, and everything she didn't have she made sure to get one way or another. She knew that all she had to do was snap her finger and daddy would make it happen.

    Coming from wealth is one thing but Ricardo Flores is much more than just wealthy. He is cunning, manipulative, and honestly a lot crooked. He is a successful criminal lawyer, though Val doesn't necessarily bore herself with the details of what that means.
    
    Because of this, she is pretty oblivious of her father being involved in some shady coverups, bribes, and more that have aided him in beating some of his cases. Sometimes even putting innocent people in prison and getting crooked cops off. Not to mention his many affairs which have likely resulted in at least one illegitimate child, whose mother he's no doubt paid off.
    
    Of course, she knows her mother's business enough to know that the woman is no better. Popping pills and drinking daily, covering it up behind fake smiles and fancy parties where she and her friends judge everyone else.

    Danielle Monroe was born and raised in the rundown streets of Ambridge and it's all the girl has ever known. Her mother, Kim, was only a teen when she got knocked up by Darien Monroe. At that time the man was looked at as nothing more than a street-rat who was involved with one of the town’s gangs known as the Serpents. Someone who people warned their daughters and even sons to stay away from.
    
    Of course, Dani’s mother fully expected the man to bail on her when she told him the news and with good reason. Not only wasn’t he the type you’d choose to be the father of your children but the whole thing stemmed from a one-night-stand. To the woman’s surprise he stuck around and sometime after Dani’s oldest sister, Maya, was born they went from co-parenting to a relationship. This eventually led to two more daughters, first Vanessa and then Danielle.

    Growing Dani was never very close to her sisters as they were a few years older. While her relationship with her mother was never bad, it became somewhat strained when she was in middle school due to her mother’s tendency to leave the girls home alone quite often to fend for themselves.

He always took care of them and made sure that when he was around he focused on his little girls. He taught her everything she knew.     Everything changed on Dani's 16th birthday. She had been waiting for hours, anxious to celebrate, when there was a knock at the door. Seeing the two cops that stood on her doorstep didn't really surprise her, given her dad's reputation.
    
    The girl was no stranger to seeing people, including her father, get arrested many times before especially with his reputation and growing up where she had. So it wasn't until she saw her mother fall to her knees that she realized something was really wrong.
    
    The cops told them that her father had been shot, that there was no saving him and they were sorry before they walked away as if they hadn't just delivered the heartbreaking news. With Dani’s sisters having moved out of state a year prior and her mother, who had never been great to start with, jumping back into dating too quickly for Dani's liking; she felt utterly alone.
    
    Even though she did cling to her friends more than anything, she still pushed even them away at times out of habit. Eventually, she spiraled before someone close to her noticed and snapped her out of it which she still remains grateful for because she is scared of how far she could've fallen if not.

    What is there to know about Jade? Well, to start she is a rebellious little shit who doesn't give a damn who thinks what about her. Honestly, no one. She learned from the start to look out for yourself because no one else was going to really do it for you. This is in part due to her shitty ass father leaving her for a new life and family as if she was trash. She has her guard up when it comes to men and doesn't have any intention of settling down.     Jade Jennings was born to two high school seniors who clearly couldn't bother to use protection. Her father stuck around and the two got married and for a long time Jade actually believed they had a happy home.
    
    Little did she know that things were anything but loving behind closed doors. They tried after so many years the regret and resentment they tried to bury deep down broke through.
    
    Jade was pretty young and so she didn't understand it at the time but she does remember the screaming and shit flying through the living room when her mother found her father had been having an affair. Something or other about that bitch from down the street.
    
    He had supposedly gotten the woman pregnant and decided to leave them to be with her, so he did. Thus sparking Jade's fear of abandonment.

    Her mother, not wanting to live remotely close to her father and his mistress, packed their whole life up and moved them to Ambridge when Jade was just eleven years old. Over the years of living in Ambridge, Jade saw the woman less and less. She was constantly working to provide for them whether waitressing at the local diners or at the clubs.
    
    Three years in, she realized just how much more beneficial it was to dance at the club bordering right where Ambridge and Auburn Springs met. She would sweet talk and hustle the rich married men out of their money and pretty much do whatever she had to. She was always coming home with new clothes or jewelry that she would sometimes pawn.
    
    Jade wasn't opposed to the gifts and money especially if it meant taking it from those entitled people across the bridge but she'd grown fond of Ambridge and even if it wasn't the best she had made roots in the town. Unfortunately, her mother had gotten too used to the perks of screwing the AS men, and one day she found one that was widowed.

    Conan Calvin O'Connor was the second child of Robert and Jessie O'Connor, a highly accomplished couple with a sterling reputation in Auburn Springs. His older sister Leslie O'Connor was a musically inclined and warm teenager who always looked out for him. The siblings were very close despite the eight year age gap between them and Leslie practically raised him, looking after Conan in place of their busy parents. Conan admired her immensely and would follow her around, wanting to do everything Leslie did and listen to what she said. She taught him how to play the violin which he quickly became obsessed with and attended important milestones in place of their parents even though it meant she was missing out on her own social activities. There were no secrets between the siblings and their parents gave them free reign, paying no attention to their activities until the year Leslie turned 22 and Conan was 14.
    
    Then a student in her third year of college and studying in another city, Leslie suddenly returned home one day, months before the summer holiday, quiet and pregnant. Robert and Jessie who had never cared before, were furious when they learnt that she had dropped out and was pregnant, questioning Leslie who refused to give answers to anyone on exactly what had transpired. No one knew if it was the result of an assault, a one night stand or a failed relationship, whatever the case, it didn't take long for them to turn on her. The transformation of his sister into a different person left Conan confused and he became angry when he started to catch wind of the rumours and whispers going around town about Leslie's fall from grace and that she had been sleeping around. It triggered a strong need in him to protect his older sister from the defamation and marked the beginning of his violent streak and hot temper. After that day, Conan regularly got into fights and confrontations with others, angry that everyone seemed to be against Leslie and no one cared. Leslie continued to refuse to tell anyone anything but slowly opened up to Conan a little again as he persistently tried to reconnect with her. As she seemed to improve, Conan tried to surprise her with a violin performance, wanting to show her how much he had improved in the years since she left for college and believing that it would cheer her up since she loved music so much. However, the violin only triggered a panic attack from Leslie who freaked out when she heard it and after that day, Conan kept his violin away and never played it again so it wouldn't hurt his sister.
    
    When little Cassie O'Connor was born, Robert and Jessie wanted her to be given up for adoption and to send Leslie back to college, treating the whole affair as little more than a blip on the radar. When she refused to do so, they kicked her out and Leslie took her daughter and went to live with their aunt, Tracy O'Connor. Conan was upset by the whole affair and confronted his parents who simply ignored him and told him to behave and not be a disappointment like Leslie. This spurred his protective urges further and he became determined to do whatever necessary to protect his older sister and make sure she was alright. Many an afternoon was spent at his aunt's home with his sister and niece, the former slowly regaining her vibrancy as time passed. He started to get into fights at school for matters other than those involving his sister, feeling a strong need to stand up for and protect those whom no one else would protect. In this manner, his life continued and he developed an infamous reputation as a hot headed and violent punk.
    
    The year he turned 16, Leslie died in a car accident at the tender age of 24 after a driver who was high on drugs, crashed into her late at night. The matter of the funeral was settled quickly and his parents carried on with their life as they did before without missing a beat, acting like she never existed and they had no daughter named Leslie O'Connor. The loss of Leslie devastated Conan and made him more determined than ever to protect those that mattered to him, even if that meant he ended up overstepping boundaries and crossing them with his actions. His fighting frequently got him into trouble with one such incident getting him slapped with a long suspension his junior year. In addition to the suspension, his aunt Tracy ended up falling ill and so he skipped out on the rest of the school year even after his suspension ended to look after his then 3 year old niece. When he returned the next school year, he was held back and is thus repeating his junior year again despite being 18.
    
    When Ambridge High burned down, Conan felt for those who might have lost someone or something important in the fire because of the loss he had experienced, and decided he would be warm and welcoming to the incoming students despite the rivalry between them.     When Ambridge burned down, she was pissed until she learned they would be joining the snobs at Auburn Springs, after which she was pissed and happy. There was no way she was going to give up the chance or not make full use of the resources and facilities available at Auburn Springs, on the other hand, it also meant that she would have to deal with the entitled snobs everyday which was no doubt going to test her temper.     Myron is a follower, the resident yes man. He doesn't seem to have an opinion on much if anything at all and prefers to defer any decision making to others and just smile and go along with whatever they have decided.     Myron drew the short end of the stick when he was born. His parents were residents of Ambridge, poor, down on their luck, with barely enough money in the bank to look after themselves let alone their son. He grew up living a hard life, envious of those in Auburn Springs who had it easy with their silver spoons and more than comfortable homes, but never expressed his envy because he knew how hard his parents were struggling for his sake and didn't want to seem ungrateful.
    
    A firm believer in the idea that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, he drifted through life with little ambition having spent years watching his parents struggle just to put food on the table despite all their hard work. This made him believe it was pointless to struggle when the odds were against you and aim high because you would just set yourself up for disappointment when you would inevitably fail because of nepotism or wealth.
    
    Luck finally turned around for Myron and the family won the lottery after Myron decided to spend his birthday money to buy one on a whim. With their newfound riches, the 16 year old found himself moving into Auburn Springs and transferring schools to become the new kid and a noveau riche. Though money was no longer a problem for them, Myron soon found himself facing a different kind of problem as the new rich kid who was formerly one of their poor rivals. He took to blending in as a way to survive socially, going along with what others decided and doing what they asked as a way to camouflage and slowly work his way up to a safe part of the school's social ladder from there. Anything to avoid being at the bottom of the food chain. In addition to this, he cut off contact with his old friends and acquaintances from Ambridge, not wanting trouble now that he had moved up or to be caught between both sides.
    
    Money is the most important thing in life to Myron, it moves people and gets you places. You want to go anywhere or do anything, you need money to do it. To supplement the money they won in the lottery because his parents know how to do little other than work hard, Myron sells drugs and other things secretly on the side, determined to never return to the life of a poor, struggling man. As long as he can keep the cash in his back pocket and not have to struggle for his next meal, he doesn't really care for what he does.
    
    It has been a year since the big move and Myron has been surviving pretty well at Auburn Springs but then some idiot managed to burn down Ambridge High and now they are all going to be studying in Auburn Springs and he does not want to be caught in the crossfire.

    PERSONALITY

    Ask anyone. Whether it’s his parents, friends, or really anyone that knows him, Caleb Wilson has never, not in his sixteen -- right, it’s sixteen? Yeah it’s definitely sixteen -- years of being alive, has he ever declared himself as an intelligent person. He doesn’t even know what declare means. He might use it correctly sometimes and might even know a few words, but that’s from hours of studying with his way smarter sister, Candace. But this doesn’t mean he’s a big ole dummy.
    
    Okay, maybe he does lean that way, but he’s not a total noob when it comes to knowing stuff. Book smarts might not be in his wheelhouse. Like, he’ll never be able to tell you how to divide large numbers by anything more than five off the top of his head (that’s what calculators were invented for duh!), but that doesn’t mean he can’t know when the jokes need to end and when they just need to stop. Caleb knows when he needs to shut up and listen to others. He knows when others need to shut up and listen to him. And if they don’t, then maybe he gets a little loud.
    
    Yes, Caleb Walker is obnoxious. And yes, he talks in the kind of way that might make others roll their eyes at him. But you know what? He’s also a pretty decent guy if you look past the beach bum visage. He’s as loyal as they come and, well, though he’s not one to be too conceited, because that’s not who he is either, he knows he’s pretty damn hot and that adds to his charm.
    
    Okay, maybe Caleb is unintentionally vain, but who isn’t? Seriously, can you honestly say that even the most humble, intelligent, wallflower-ey people don’t have a certain conceited vain-ness to them?
    
    But deep down, even past the halfway decent surface and the smile that comes with it, Caleb is really just a down-to-earth surfer boy who plays football. He’s the boy that always tries to do the right thing. Is he successful at this? No, not always. But you know what? Caleb’s good guy intentions can be summed up in a single phrase:
    
    There was an attempt.
    
    And when he is successful, you’ll know it because he’ll celebrate right along with you.
    
    Did we forget to mention that Caleb is a ham who lives to live in the moment? No, well it’s true. Hopefully that’s not a bad thing.
    
  • THE STORY OF CALE

    
    Whenever Caleb looked back on his life and even his upbringing, he never recognized the signs that would be what eventually strained his parents’ relationship. Of course, how was he to even know that long before being born -- well, not long long but more like a year after the fact -- that his father cheating on his mother with some eighteen-year-old Ambridge girl would put a massive strain on his parents’ relationship. He never knew what they were like as a loving couple. He never knew the two parents who loved each other more than anything in the world and now were married because it benefited them more than being separate, what with the lack of a prenup on either side.
    
    Split and you lose all your money. And that’s a two-way street.
    
    But the love story of Edward and Irene wasn’t always so fractured. Irene Kelly, though now and always for Caleb and Caitlin’s life, known as Irene Walker, came from a rather established Irish-Canadian family who owned a massive brewing company that sold some of North America’s best IPAs. They aren’t the sole brewer of them, but they handle a majority of the scenting and providing transportation. Being the sole heir and everything, one can imagine the appeal of a dream-come-true scenario when she met Edward Walker, a then-young aspiring Senator who wooed her with his charm and rugged jawline.
    
    It was love at first sight and within the year, they were engaged. Half a year after that, they were married.
    
    And for a couple of years, Irene and Edward were happy.
    
    Until they weren’t.
    
    Whether it was the almost-impulsive way they fell in love, but through similar circumstances, Edward cheated and it resulted in the birth of twins, although he didn’t know it at the time.
    
    It took a while, but eventually, Irene forgave him (to a degree). And then at some point, Caleb was conceived and, soon, born.
    
    And two years later, came his sister, Calitlin Belle Walker.
    

    MAEVE ROCKS

    
    And his life from then on was tough in a different way as opposed to those who grew up in Ambridge. For Caleb, it was the repeated media attention his father got for being the political figure that he was and his mother choosing the life of a socialite (as if she would choose anyone else). She paraded Caleb and his sister like they were props when it was convenient for her. Otherwise, even though he never held any contempt for her (Caitlin is a different story), that didn’t change the fact that his real parents -- at least those who raised him and Cait -- were a revolving door of nannies, members of the staff, and even their housekeeper/butlass, Maeve O'Connor.
    
    Maeve especially helped shape both Walker kids into who they would become. She often felt like the mother that Caleb wished he had but never got.
    
    When it came to Caleb, she encouraged his passions. When he had an idea and Cait was nowhere to be found or simply didn’t care about it, Maeve was always there to listen. She didn’t understand it half the time because Caleb tended to go from end to beginning to middle to end again, but seeing the genuinely interested look in her green eyes always made him feel comfortable enough to confide in her about anything. And of course, whenever he got out of line, though she never laid a finger on him or his sister, she was stern enough to put them in line (even if Cait pushed her more than Caleb did).
    
    And when Caleb expressed interest in working out, she helped him with a diet. She’s undoubtedly the reason why he has a pizza addiction and why he doesn’t care for kale but doesn’t mind eating it (but only if Maeve makes it the way he does).
    
    Everything good about Caleb Walker wasn’t a product of his somewhat absent, shitty parents, but rather the love and affection that Maeve showed him and his sister. They were the reason why they both turned out alright.

    But Then everything changed when he found out that he had a brother and a sister he never knew about.
    
    Truth be told, Caleb didn’t know what happened until they came to live with him last year. Lincoln and Lola Bello were their names. They were, apparently, the product of an affair their father had before Caleb was even an idea. So he couldn’t say he knew them even a little bit beforehand, but what he did know was that, before they arrived, the tension in the air was felt from his mother. It was an understatement to say that she was displeased. In fact, Caleb caught a certain sequence of words that came from her mouth when he heard her talking to his father about it the night before they were set to come.
    
    “I can’t believe I have to live with …them. Are you fucking kidding me, Edward!?”
    
    So yeah, you could say Irene wasn’t happy. Caleb was, though! And so was Caitlin. Both of them were just ecstatic to have more siblings. Maybe it was the fact that they were mostly neglected and having more people to spend time with was definitely more of a positive than not. Maybe the idea of having someone their own age for whom they could find common ground with was appealing.
    
    Well, at least for Caleb.
    
    But only, they didn’t have that. They didn’t get to have that extended family bond with them because as soon as they came ot live with them, both Lincoln and Lola acted as though they hated them.
    
    Or maybe it was just Lincoln. To be fair, Caleb did come off a little strong. He wanted his older half-brother to like him. He desperately wanted to make a connection, so Caleb carpe diem’d any moment that came his way. And maybe that worked against him, but Caleb always shot his shot. He never wasted a moment and he wanted his brother to like him.
    
    But no bueno. Enter sad face here
    
    Caleb just wants his brother to like him. Maybe there is some way he could.

    PERSONALITY

    There’s something to say about the way Grover carries himself. Certainly a boy with a lot of confidence, especially considering how and where he grew up. With little money, he didn’t live a lavish life. He wasn’t like the Springers but he never let that stop him. Throughout his entire life from boyhood to almost-manhood, Jeremy Grover oozed a swagger almost as much as his hair does when it’s just out of the shower. He has a style and flare that is all his own. He wears his individuality on him like the staggering golden-yellow feathery jacket that has become his trademark look.
    
    Friends, foe, or potential enemy, Grover treats them all the same. His momma would berate and probably verbally hound him if he didn’t treat people with respect. Plus, he’s one chill motherfucker. Literally the embodiment of go with the flowwww! If you want someone to get you hype, he’s also that kind of guy. He can switch it up from zero to one-hundred real quick. He’s kind of a unique fellow, this Grover. He isn’t shy about being multitalented. Like stated, he doesn’t lack confidence.
    
    But somewhere in him is someone with a lack of focus. Well, maybe that’s not exactly true. He can focus on things like growing and selling his weed and being there for his friends and family (some friends are his family), but school or anything academically-focused has a lack of it for him. His philosophy is why waste time with silly books that are whitewashed anyway? He’d much rather be out there in the real world, selling his kush and all about the zen.
    
    A chill life is a life for The Grove.
    
    
  • THE BEGINNING

    
    Jeremy Grover never knew his father. He never knew what it was like to have a male figure in his life that he could look up to in the same way other kids around the neighborhood knew theirs. Say what you want about how they ended up, but that was always something he found himself yearning for in his formative years.
    
    Since he was six, he had thought of many theories about who his father really was. Growing up when he was watching cartoons, there wa sa long time where he was convinced his father was Apu from The Simpsons. Grover was obsessed with the Simpsons growing up. It was his favorite cartoon. It and Family Guy were shows he just couldn’t get enough. He liked the edgy humor. He liked that it wasn’t afraid to pull punches. Of course, he didn’t know what the hell they were really saying until years later, but as a little Grove, they entertained him enough.
    
    But when it came to Apu, he just felt attached to him for some reason. But as he grew older and came to understand that his father wasn’t a convenience store owner in Springfield, Grover developed other theories. At one point, he was convinced his father was Kama, the Hindu God of Love. His mother was white and he wasn’t, so he knew that his father just had to be Indian. Plus, his mother told him as much. That was most of what she told him.
    
    Well, that and his name was Rajesh. Apparently that's where his middle name came from.
    
    But everything else was...just made up.
    
    

    THE MIDDLE

    
    But this was Grover’s life. His mother was the most unorthodox person he has ever known. She came from a family of hippies who wandered the country extensively throughout the 60s and 70s before she broke out and found her calling as a part-time psychic and full-time cannabis-grower and distributor.
    
    Spoiler alert, that’s where he got it from.
    
    His mother, who was born to the name Sage Tinkerbelle Grover (wild name, right?), raised him in the same way she was raised but without the cross country travel. They lived in a modest home in Ambridge. And life was, for the most part, rather normal. Compared to others, it might’ve been peculiar. She raised him by emphasizing inner-peace and a pacifist way of life versus what most in Ambridge learn and that’s fight for your life. Granted, Grover did learn how to handle himself thanks to Rory. She caught him getting harassed by some neighbor kids when he was nine or ten and beat the ever-living snot out of them. Or at least did enough to scare them off. When it was all said and done, she looked out for him, taught him how to handle himself. In the end, he came out of it with the skills necessary to protect himself, though he seldom did because it went against his code of pacifism.
    
    Just one of many things he got from his momma.
    
    
    Having been raised by an unorthodox parent, Grover himself came up as an unorthodox person. From the way his fashion sense developed (though from an early age, he always loved toying with different patterns and colors) to how he himself developed on a personal level, Grover never lost sight of the core values that made people like Rory and a few others be drawn to him. He remained a smart, humble, comforting friend. His mother was one with nature and always felt being a compassionate person was one of the best things she could pass onto Grover.
    
    This compassion was put to the test when Rory Hansen suffered an unbelievable tragedy. They were both twelve and both too young to be exposed to the darkness of the world, but that was life. And at an early age, Grover could bet on his unorthodox upbringing to provide a sense of preparation for how to handle things like this. He was with Rory when her mother called his house. He didn’t know it at the time, but her father passed.
    
    It was strange, looking back, Grover couldn’t remember seeing Rory cry or anything. At the funeral, he couldn’t recall seeing her shed tears nor could he remember much from that time.
    
    Yeah, looking back, maybe his habit of being and feeling for his friends was a double-edged sword because he felt her grief and cried for her. He never showed it, but for a few moments behind his room, he empathized so much for Rory and for her loss, that he wept that night. Maybe this was traced back to how he never truly understood why his own father never returned.
    
    Or maybe it was just how unusual Grover really was and how being raised a certain way often led to unforeseen characteristics.
    
    
    
    

    THE NOW

    
    In the years that passed, Grover found his own and found his purpose. Like his mother, he started to grow and sell his own pile of cannabis (with his mother’s blessing, of course). The promise between them was that she took everyone over twenty-five and that he could take everyone under (within limits). They vowed never to sell to any kid younger than fourteen. That was the Grover Code. The Grover Code also included never to start a fight but be able to finish it if you must. Oh, and it also included something about chicken for dinner every other sunday.
    
    To be honest, the Grovers were weird and not like your everyday family.
    
    Maybe that’s what made Grover a unique person. He made friends with both how he sold his pot and how faithful they knew he was. His prices were fair and his product as good as they got. He sold them in an individual baggies at almost 30% less than what you might find in areas heavily populated with gangs that wasn’t Ambridge. He knew they existed and there was always a risk of selling in their territory, but Grover was connected. He had friends who would watch his back. He had protectors.
    
    And at the end of the day, who was ever going to suspect the high school senior with the yellow feather jacket and red round spectacle sunglasses had some of the best weed you’d ever be able to buy in Ambridge and Auburn Springs combined?

  Imogen is like the friend who drives you home when you're drunk— raised to be a considerate and responsible young woman, she's the angel on your shoulder telling you not to do something stupid. She's not one to show the entire world kindness though, so don't expect respect if you don't respect her back. She's also a very intelligent individual, and constantly strives to become more knowledgeable. Throughout the years she's developed a great sense of astuteness and intuition.   Imogen was born into a very wealthy family— her father a surgeon and her mother a lawyer, and has felt the pressure to live up to their success ever since she barely knew how to talk. Through private tutoring, rigorous studying schedules and just about every over-the-top method out there they made sure their daughter would grow up to become as successful as them.
  
  This made school quite the living hell for her. Too focused on making her parents proud, Imogen barely had any time to invest in the social aspect of school and felt a huge sense of loneliness for a long period of time. Eventually she sort of found her footing, making a few close friendships along the way, but was still far away from social butterfly status.
  
  Her parents weren't complete spawns of satan though— in fact, they taught her many valuable lessons: to fight for what she wants just like they fought for what they have and to not allow others to disrespect her and walk all over her just to name a few. Some of the lessons, however, weren't as valuable...
  
  While growing up Imogen never felt or understood the hatred toward the people of Ambridge that most of her fellow Auburn Springs inhabitants did. Her parents in particular despised them, much to her confusion. She'd always find it hypocritical whenever they or someone else would preach about the importance of kindness but wouldn't practice it with them.
  
  In fact, she was quite excited when she found out about the fire at Ambridge high... well, not about the fire itself of course! But she hoped the Ambridge students would provide a breath of fresh air to the extremely elitist and stuck-up atmosphere present at Auburn Springs High and Auburn Springs as a whole.
  
  Xander Harris— Friend. One of Imogen's first friends, having attended the same private school. 【personality】— malachi was raised by both the streets and his grandparents. it shows with how he carries himself. though his posture seems casual, if one pays close enough attention they’ll realize that it’s not the case at all. malachi is similar to a spring or a viper, waiting for an attack or to strike. he stays on high alert, making sure that he’s fully aware of his surroundings. with a life like his he can’t afford to be caught slipping or it could cost him his life. the young man moves in silence. he doesn’t make it a habit of announcing his next move, doesn’t boat about the life style he lives. instead he keeps it close, only sharing with those in his inner circle while others are left guessing. he’s always been someone who prefers actions over words. malachi doesn’t waste time with trash talking, when he says that he’s going to do something he’s most definitely going to do it. the young man doesn’t bluff and it’s hard to change his mind once it’s set.

he is seen as intimidating by others. the mean mug that he usually wears is enough to keep people away all by itself, his reputation is another solid shield as wel. malachi always has a cold look in his eyes, or so he’s been told. his look makes people believe that he’s believe that he’s up to no good, that he’s plotting trouble on the sly. people often think that he’s nothing more than a brute, a thug with only violence on his mind. instead malachiah is cunning and calculating, he things before his next move. he plans what he does carefully in order to not slip up. he’s a perfectionist in that regard, boarding on paranoid even.

malachi is observant, something that he learned from the streets. he pays attention to detail and it has saved his life many times in the past. malachiah has a way or reading people, of figuring out if someone is bullshiting him or not and it makes others nervous. he keeps what he peeps out to himself for the most part, pretends that he doesn’t notice anything at all. people are more receptive when he plays dumb. they’re easier to manipulate when all they see is what they think he’s like.

he puts loyalty above all else and family right along with it. when malachi is good to someone he expects the same treatment back. he’s always been good at looking after his own, taking care of those in his circle and rewarding them for their loyalty. he’s a mature person since he’s had to grow up faster than some of the kids his age.

with a father spending life in prison and a mother who didn’t want to settle down to look after children, it was up to his grandparents to raise him and his brother. they truly did their best, they to keep them away from the violence and crime that plagued their streets. but his grandparents were working class citizens, they couldn’t be around every hour of the day. ever the observer, malachi took note of their situation. he noticed how his grandparents struggled with bills, with food, how they’d try to keep it from them.

his peers were cruel, their keen eyes took on their hand-me-down clothes and shoes that seemed to speak. the adults were no different, whispers of malachi’s parents made their way into his ears. they judged him based on their actions, warning their kids to stay away from him and his brother. it wasn’t long before the call of the streets beckoned him with promises of wealth. they taunted him, questioning how he could just sit by while his family struggled. malachi started off as a normal corner boy. but he soon realized that he wanted to be his own bus, thus the vice lords were born.

  Primrose is the type of person that seems uninterested in most trivial things, if it doesn't add any value to her; then she doesn't see why she should worry about things that happened around her; she has the mentality that is better to achieve things on your own rather than sharing accomplishment with others. With a cold and sometimes arrogant persona, that's how Prim lives every day after all she has learned that being nice to others and being the kind one of the group doesn't really take you anywhere if you want to succeed you might as well use the ones around you to achieve your goals. An overachiever to the heart; that won't stop until she has managed to accomplish everything she can and allows her to be excluded from the rest.

  Backstory

  Primrose childhood in Auburn Springs was pretty normal, her family was what could be described as one taken from one of those series where they describe their perfect lives, but truth is that Primrose family was far from being perfect, the sweet and cute love story of high school sweat hearts turn into constant arguments and fights, dinners turned cold and tense, it was almost as if they were just strangers that pretended that their life was the one of a magazine, as her parents grew apart and started spending more and more time at work, it was obvious that it was just a matter of time until everything fell apart, during that time the only thing that kept Primrose at float was ballet which allowed her to forget about all her family problems
  
  When she was 10 it was when everything fell apart and their lie was exposed to everyone when Primrose's mom found out that her husband was cheating on her, which ended up in a terrible divorce where Primrose was in the middle, so after that, she and her mother moved to New York and she didn't know anything about her father until a year he announced he was getting married to the same woman that he was cheating on her mother, a wedding that even Primrose wasn't even invited, this broke completely what was left of the happy and kind Primrose, she focused on her ballet the only thing that mattered after all her parents were too busy building again their life or at work than paying attention to their own daughter.
  
  She became manipulative and cold towards everyone, as she didn't want to become more hurt than she already was, and her jealousy of everyone around her seemed to have better parents than she made didn't help her relationships with her peers.
  
  It wasn't until an injury and her troubled relationships with her dance peers at SAB that the small bubble she built around her exploded as their teacher believed she had the talent to be a professional ballerina; but her attitude left a lot to desire, and the only time her mother decided to pay attention to her was after Primrose was called out on her behavior (because she may or may have not threatened one of her peers when she got the solo that she wanted, but we don't talk about that), and instead of wanting to help her daughter she just sent her on a plane back to Auburn Springs to live with her father and have a "normal" life, but having to live with the person that she hasn't spoken since she was 10 along with her wife and their two kids wasn't what Primrose wanted, now going back to the place that saw her grow up with the people she barely kept in touch except for a few exceptions was not part of her life plan.

    Born at just a little over 6 pounds and a head full of hair, Noah Nicholas Stewart was the happiest baby in the whole wide world—having around him three people who provided the tiny baby boy with nothing but unconditional love. First, his parents, Lydia and Derek, who loved him as any parent would their child, and then his older brother Jacob, who, even if only two years old at the time of Noah’s birth, loved the idea of having a baby brother.
    
    And since coming out of the womb, Noah just didn’t stop talking!
    
    Whether it was while crying, or pooping, or even sleeping, people would find him babbling nonsense as if he were talking to someone, and that went on for as long as his parents can remember. His grandma said he was schizophrenic, but the doctors said it was quite normal. He said his first word, ‘dada’, at only 6 months old, and then his grandma said he was actually Einstein reincarnated into a young child, though the three psychics she took him to said he wasn’t.
    
    But he was just a baby and didn’t understand the berating he got from the psychics about being just a stupid little baby, so his childhood continued on marvelously until, at the ripe age of 4, he got punched in the face by a kid for having “silky black hair like a witch”. And, of course, Noah being Noah decided to befriend the bully who would eventually become his best friend in the whole wide world, whether he liked it or not. (It was Mason y’all.     Teenage years came by quickly, and puberty hit Noah like a truck. He started growing hair, which was terribly yucky for him for no apparent reason, he realized he liked boys more than he did girls—which Mason contrasted completely in every regard—and then, to top it all off, his parents just had to decide to get a divorce in the most formative years of the young boy’s life! How rude!
    
    On the positive side, all the talking as a baby really paid off, because, in middle school, he flourished from a little boy to a little boy with a lot of friends. And in middle school, that meant a great deal. Some of those friends stuck around, some did not, but he still likes to think middle school was one of the best era’s in Noah Stewart’s grand life.
    
    In this time, his grandma tried to get him into acting, because, in her words, he was “the next Matt LeBlanc”. That, in turn, forced him to run away from home every time his grandma would pull into the driveway to take him to an audition, and so, his love of running began.
    
    Now, he genuinely can’t imagine his life without running almost every day, which, he knows and is painfully aware of, will make his bones dust in his senior days. But you only live once, right?

    Life is pretty good for Noah Stewart these days. He is quite a little slut of Auburn Springs, but who said being a slut was a bad thing? He has friends, like he did in middle school, maybe a little bit less of them now, however.   Rayden is a good guy. No really, he is. Though, this is really out of the fact that he only has one working brain cell at all times. He doesn't really know what being cruel is, and is generally a gentleman. A sportsman. His one big passion in life is lacrosse, and he's surprisingly clever and smart specifically when things come to lacrosse, being really good at being an absolute menace on the field.
  
  If only he could take this cleverness and utilize it to his school. He makes kind of bad grades, but hey, he's passing so who cares. Rayden doesn't really understand what flirting is, and he doesn't understand passive aggressive. In this way, he's super popular with everyone (because he doesn't understand when people are mean to him until it quite literally smacks him in the face).
  
  A surprisingly generous soul, he likes cooking for people, and he likes giving people gifts. And he likes doing little dances for absolutely no reason. Again, 0 thoughts, head empty. He does the things that makes him happy and makes him feel good.   One of the least liked kids at his last school, Aaron is a menace. Unburdened by such things as social niceties and a need for reputation, he’s a dismissive ass. A man of few words until you threaten him enough he decides to turn them into daggers and stab you through with them multiple times--And if that doesn’t work, he’s never had issues with beating the tar out of someone he deigns deserves it. He’s good on his own, bored by school, set on edge by the social politics that haunt it. No thanks: He’ll be at the library reading up on literally anything else.
