Nothingness
Three Thousand Club
-
It started as nothing more than the ambitions for a completely benderless world by an ordinary citizen within the Earth Kingdom. This woman would soon come to be known as Lady Velrosa Nanda by her followers. It is unclear as to when or exactly how The Ashen Dawn first started and how it gained so many followers in such a short period of time or how it was able to acquire as many resources as it did. All that is known is that the leader of the militaristic group was once a citizen of the Earth Kingdom before joining the military and that the group was formed even before the construction of Nova Citadel. After The Ashen Dawn had spread their influence throughout the world it was only a matter of time before their word had become law.
They targeted small settlements first before moving onto small towns, next came the larger cities and soon enough they targeted Nova Citadel itself and overthrew the current heads of the government there before placing their highest commanders along with their leader as the new reigning authority figure over the world.
The Ashen Dawn find that although their actions might seem cruel and strict at times, they fully believe that they are righteous in their actions and that their goals will bring a better form of peace to the land and usher in a different type of balance, one that would not ever require bending. While their views were difficult to accept at first, when the day came that Velrosa had announced to the world the death of the Avatar by their hands, it was set in stone that The Ashen Dawn were the new ruling force across the land.
Founded a few years after The Ashen Dawn had started to gain notoriety. The Veiled Embers is a rebellious group of benders and non-benders alike. Unlike The Ashen Dawn, rather than attempt to dominate and push their form of rule over the people, they are continued believers of the old ways of what The Avatar stood for. Rather than believe that benders should rule, their goal is to bring back the proper balance of the world where benders and non-benders could live together in harmony once more. Lead by Isharo Vahn, an earth bending veteran soldier who left the military after he was deemed too elderly to continue his duties. After serving the Earth king for numerous years, he decided to take up sculpting until the rise of The Ashen Dawn news reached him.
Even after the news about the death of the Avatar and the broken cycle that The Ashen Dawn paraded around, the rebellious group did not faulter. While there were some that had lost faith and even given up after the death of the Avatar, those that were strong willed continued to believe that they could bring back peace even without the help from the Avatar.
Not much is known about Lady Velrosa Nanda's past leading up to her commanding rule over The Ashen Dawn. Some say she was a general for the Earth Kingdom during times of great war while others say she was a grunt in the Fire Nation during its time when they attempted to rule the world. Either way, in the end, it did not really matter who she once was, who she became was the most important and terrifying. Becoming leader over The Ashen Dawn, Velrosa believes in a world where bending is completely nonexistent, or if there must be bending, then those who are capable of it should work for those who cannot bend. She believes that they should be slaves rather than the ones in rule.
As of the moment, it is believed that Velrosa has no ability to bend any element, but even with her elderly age, she is a dangerous foe as she appears to have a mastery over chi-blocking techniques with both hand-to-hand combat as well as with nearly any weapon she gets her hands on. She spends most of her time in Nova Citadel and within her office, while she gives orders to those below her. She is a strict leader who does not accept failure without punishment.
A veteran from the old Earth Kingdom military, Isharo Vahn is an earth bender who remembers the old ways of the world even before the rise of steam technology. He was a full believer in the Avatar and everything they stood for. He had even fought side by side with the Avatar once before to uphold the balance of the world. So, when a new group of individuals rose calling themselves The Ashen Dawn and how they wanted to remove bending from the world, he was one of the first to step up and oppose their ambitions. Though unlike others, he did not voice it out in the open as he had seen time and time again what would happen to those who did and from his experience during war time, what would happen to those who spoke up against the propaganda that other nations attempted to spread.
So, rather than speak up openly. He decided to speak out but through a majority group and through combined action. So, from there, he founded the rebellion now known as The Veiled Embers. Due to his time during the military, he has used his knowledge both as a form to teach his fellow members as well as strategize against an enemy that is more like a militaristic force as well.
Isharo is a kind old man, he enjoys watching the sunset with a warm cup of tea most of the time and simply enjoying life. However, when absolutely needed, he can act as a proper general that hides his calmer and much kinder personality aside when needed.
