Name: Athena Yggdrasil

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Pansexual

Appearance:

She has long, straight, jet black hair, and deep red eyes. She is somewhat tall, at 5'9", although her iridescent black wings reach much higher above her head, and almost trail along the floor when she walks, the tips of her feathers reaching her ankle. Her floor length dress, of the same colour as her eyes, is made for her, so her wings are unrestricted. (See details in pic. The silver jewellery has been with her for as long as she can remember (as has her dress), and she grew into it. Unlike the picture, her dress is actually very modest, with a high neckline, and the split starting much lower down.)

She has a mass of scar tissue around her wings and upper back, that creeps down her shoulders and chest. Her wrists and outer thighs also have similar scarring. Some appear to be quite recent.

Her physique appears weak and frail, as if her fragile pale skin were porcelain. Even if she is certainly not strong, she is more capable than she is usually given credit.

Personality:

Shy and cautious, she has learnt to push away her curiosity, although sometimes she follows her inquisitiveness without realising. Her face is usually painted with a peaceful sadness, and her quiet and distant demeanour reflects this. Prior events have made her paranoid, and she can panic at the smallest thing. Despite all this, she is very strong (mentally), and this strength is often underestimated.

Bio:

She cannot remember where she came from, why she has wings, or who her parents were, and her first ever memory is of sitting under Yggdrasil's protecting branches, the wise tree teaching her all manner of things. She grew up under Yggdrasil's care, completely happy. When she was 14, a settlement of people moved to the area, and despite Yggdrasil's warnings, her curiosity got the better of her, and she went to meet them against her guardians wishes. The wise Ash could only watch, unable to move as she was a tree, as her daughter was captured by the wicked townsfolk. Crying for her daughter, the people discovered this weeping Ash, and as they feared what they did not understand, cut Yggdrasil down, killing her.

Athena watched on, realising what she had done, and unable to do anything from the cage she had been placed. Before Yggdrasil was completely dead, she used what strength she had to give Athena all she could, and this is evident in the tattoo on her lower back, which when Yggdrasil gave it, it was merely a sapling.

Athena endured torture, humiliation and worse at the hands of her captors, for what felt like millennia to her, but was only 3 years, before she had her chance to escape. By this time, the injuries and scarring she received were so great, that she was unable to fly, so her escape was by foot at first, then she managed to persuade a wild horse to help her flee.

No longer running, she searches for other trees like Yggdrasil, and answers as to what her tattoo means. But mostly she wanders, unable to find a purpose in the dark and dismal world she sees.

The spiralling branches grow every year, as they would on a real tree.

She has limited flight abilities. Flying causes her a great deal of pain, and she is unable to do it for more than 5 minutes or so. Her wings are weak and scarred, and she also halfheartedly looks for something that will heal her.

Constantly grieves for Yggdrasil, and her tattoo only comforts her a bit.
