"Uh, thanks for that." Herman huffed once he'd scrambled out of the hole. Even though Siwai did most of the hard work, the dwarf looked more exhausted. He gave a wave to the kobold's companions, Urzoth and Connor.

"I better check in with the Missus. Let her know I'm alive, else she'll kill me. Heheh."

______

Trish listened to the monster hunter’s plan and raised a bushy eyebrow by the end of it. “Sounds like suicide, but aye - I can get you what you need.”

The dwarf snapped her fingers and gave some instructions to one of her men. “Bring what’s left of the Bahamut bombs.”

“This plan o’ yours… doesn’t leave much room for error. Is this a trap fer the wyrm, or a trap for us?” Callan wondered, pessimistic as ever.

RIka stood still, poring the plan thrice over until her prevarication acquiesced to an arrant resolve. “I really can’t say. The tremors we felt, along with the fact that it’s chosen to reside largely in civilian built mine shafts, suggest to me that this thing is ancient, and likely dearth of tunneling skills, or at the very least it was too tired to do so by the time it got here. Many of the holes we've seen can be linked to a nearby mineshaft, so it doesn't stray far from places where it doesn't have to do much of its own digging.” She looked about as Trish delivered her orders, watching the dwarves follow. “Best case scenario, the miasma that the serpent gets stuck in once we blow the caves weakens it, but its primary goal is to ensure that we coax it out of the mines beyond retreat.” She looked at Callan, moreover trying to reassure herself than him. “Once the tunnels have been smoked out and blocked off, we’ll have to kill it without delay.” She stopped, and then turned to the door. “But to start, we’ve gotta get in those mines. Sound alright to you?” She inquired, awaiting an answer. Callan was many things, but he wasn’t dishonest, and he certainly wasn’t stupid… not while sober, anyway.

Connor Brazzinford - 'The Phantom Armory'

Upon reaching the wagon she lifted herself onto the first step, climbing onto the wagon and heading inside the storage room as several suits of armor followed in behind her. As the lanterns inside lit up upon her presence it her attention quickly turned to the metal panels behind the shelves and racks. They weren't too noticeable, but the two layers of reinforced steel panels fit snuggly between the wagon walls and the shelves. As the suits of armor began pulling them out of storage the sound of metal thumping against wood could faintly be heard from outside, albeit any noise around it would more than likely mask it. By the time the suits of armor finished pulling all of the panels out there were roughly 90 of them leaning against different parts of the wagons wheels outside, her suit of armor coming off for the moment as she donned another. It was heavier than the one she normally wore, but fit her body more closely. Still though, it was only for what she needed to do next.
As she exited the wagon her gaze turned to the panels, as she sensed the armors inherent magic top off its magic capacity from her. She raised one of her hands as she focused on the panel, before seeing it lift up as if it was a puppet on strings. As the panel moved closer towards the wagon it started to drift to the side a little, before forcefully breaking out her armors magic and snapping into place. Inside of the wagons walls were smoothed loadstones enhanced with magic to act as the Medieval version of magnets, and panel by panel each reinforced steel panel went into place. The process wasn't exactly quiet nor easy, but it did mean that the wagon would withstand much more of a beating than usual during the fight to come. At the very least, it made the wagon much more resistant to flames where it was fortified. By the time the final panel was fitted to the wagon every wall was covered along with the roof, making attacks from above as fruitless as from the sides. The only spots that weren't fortified where the wheels and the bottom of the wagon, which would be where the Wyrm would be most likely to attack. There were also the windows as well, though that was a left as is for a good reason.

Upon seeing the Dwarf being rescued from the hole Connor waved back, and with the wagon now fortified she turned to Urzoth before gesturing to the wagon.
"I'll probably need a little help finishing up some preparations, seeing as our current plan has a good chance of going awry." Connor spoke with a little tension in her voice, seeming a little unnerved as the kick she had gotten from the Dragon's Fire in her coffee had worn off. It helped her keep her insecurities in check while around others, while also putting her in a more observant state of mind in small amounts. She quickly turned her face away to avoid showing concern to (probably) the most judgmental of the group, with her pride and joy set of armor following suit behind her into the second floor of the wagon.

Urzoth split their attention between Siwai and his waste of magic (surely the dwarf would be strong enough to pull himself up) and Connor's fortifying the wagon. Was it able to move under such heavy panels? If so, then why didn't she leave them on all the time? It's not like the wagon wasn't already intimidating. "Of course, Kenai and I will help. Just tell us what to do."

Hearing the rescued dwarf want to leave, they turned their chair around and snapped, "Dwarf. Wait." Rolling up to him, they asked, "How did you and that carriage get in the hole? Did you survive a wyrm attack? Or was that section weakened enough that you fell through?" The former would be a relief, proof it left some survivors (and didn't eat all of the dead.) The latter would be worrisome for the extra weight of the armors, and Connor's wagon itself. For all they knew they drove right into the hole in their desperation to flee. Though if his missus wasn't in there, perhaps that wasn't the case.

Herman cringed in reaction to all the metallic noises coming from the strangers wagon. He waved his little arms in protest, only to facepalm when his warning went unnoticed.

As Urzoth approached and asked their question he took a breath to answer but was silenced by an intense rumbling below their feet. The ground began to tremble as something burrowed upwards.

“… not again.” The dwarf just had time to complain as the floor gave way beneath him.

Rocks, clots of dirt, and turf were sent flying in all directions, as a humongous rock-wurm lunged straight up out of the ground and swallowed poor Herman whole.

“Sounds-“ Whatever Callan was going to say was cut short as the Jarl’s house suddenly began to creak and judder, due to what was happening outside.

As a phantom creature, Akela was of no interest of the attacking wyrm, merely an obstacle easily brushed past. The wolf was solid enough to slam into the side of the tunnel, the breath she didn't need whooshing out of her.

She managed to send an alert to Urzoth as she dismissed herself, but not fast enough for the half orc to respond before the wyrm was upon them. Or well, under them. Their chair fell to the wayside, their limp body within it as they merged with Kenai, using their essence to make the grizzly even bigger than he was. The bear stood above their chair, and with a roar swiped at the wyrm, hoping to engage it until reinforcements came up with a plan. Since the old one wasn't happening.

RIka’s balance and measured countenance was suddenly thrown to stupor as she held fast to the table before her. Nearby, an inkwell, jostled by the tremors, tipped and spilled partway across the map. It had to have been the poignant salience that the ruined map portended to the derailed plan, or simply the fact that a perfectly decent map had now been destroyed, that her anxieties and fears gave way, if only briefly, piquing to an irate glare. “I suppose that’s that.” she hissed, quickly sprinting out of the door. If Trish’s earlier statements about the beast being attracted to sound were correct, she knew where it might be headed: the carriage.

Wyrm Attack

"Herman! No!" Siwai shouted. He gritted his teeth and leaped across the flying rubble, climbing it faster than it could fall and hurtled off of it up and over the Wyrm's head.
From above he unleashed a beam of ki. Spiralling motes twisted around the beam as it flashed brightly towards the Wyrm.

Godefroi clenched her jaw at the sudden roars of multiple wyrms, her eyes of icy blue brimming with an unknowing emotion. "Great. They're multiple. Goblins, now big toxin-breathing lizards." She peers down at her sword attached to her hip, gradually unsheathing it warily. "Expergiscimini." She whispered to the blade, watching as the inscribed words slowly glowed brighter by the second. Her arm felt like it was on fire, feeling her energy drained by the sword little by little. Her blood was sizzling underneath, yet it was a pain she's adjusted to for years. Well. It's better than being choked by the wyrm's toxic breath. She heads deeper into the mines, feeling the floors shake beneath her feet. She believes that some were on their way out of the cave. That is most certainly not good. Still, her bravery was unwavering the deeper she went in. Going further, her nose swiveled in detestation at the stench of something rotting and probably dung. "Gross. Do they eat and use the bathroom in the same place? Bunch of animals." They are animals-animals that she has to eliminate. Godefroi has reached a circular room covered with support beams and abandoned minecarts full of riches. Her eyes surveyed the room, her intuition telling her that this would be her battlefield.

Hearing a roar in a tunnel in front of her made her gut-feeling leap with delight. "Ah, you're never wrong. . .I hate you for that." Assuming that her intuition brought misfortune in the form of a wyrm. Her eyes fixated on the pair of glowing audits within the darkness of the tunnel ahead of her; however, Godefroi remained in place. Pulling the chain closer to her side, her eyes were the only thing moving as she examined the support beams. She doesn't want to destroy this place yet, as she has to figure out why they nestled here, to begin with. Their arrival could mean one thing: something alarming is out there and imposing a threat on the environment, even the locals. Her mind dragged her back to the current situation and just in time. The wyrm started its charge, its mouth gaping open to swallow her whole, its eyes brimming with both fear and fury. She remained in place, unbothered by the unsteady ground, while the beast charged at her. When it was close to biting her completely, she rolled to the side and quickly threw the chain muzzle. She was smacked away by its tail, wanting to cover her ears as the creature roared in enmity. Godefroi got back up to her feet, her stomach aching and her armor dented slightly from the tail. "Why did I sign-up for this?" Shaking her head, she readies her weapon and charges at the wyrm's tailpiece.

Connor Brazzinford - 'The Phantom Armory'

"We just need to move aside some of the furniture for the-" Connor was cut off as the ground began to rumble, quickly moving everything she needed aside and opening the windows before releasing several latches in the ceiling. The seems between the wooden panels and the rest of the ceiling were almost completely unnoticeable, though upon the latches being released the panels swung open as large ballista looking crossbows quickly slid down their tracks in the ceiling into position. The panels latches could even be latched onto some of the close-by ceiling decor to keep them from dangling down the entire time. The process was fairly quick given the circumstances, though now came the difficult part. Several suits of armor quickly brought up some of the bolts used for the crossbows, lacing them with poison and getting them loaded in before getting into position.

Connor rushed back down outside by leaping off of the balcony straight to the ground below, her armors inherent magic slowing her fall to a fairly gentle landing. With a loud whistle Deus quickly came running, hooking it up to the wagon again and having as many suits of armor at the ready inside of the wagon. Connor climbed atop Deus and had her steed reposition to get a clearer shot at the Wyrm, commanding her suits of armor to begin attacking the beast. The two crossbows pointing out the right side windows of the wagon fired their first two shots, with the first barely nicking the Wyrm while the other hit it sternly near its head. Several suits of armor charged with their weapons at the ready, as flowerbeds of roses rapidly appeared at their feet as Connor cast one of her spells onto the suits charging in.
"Urzoth, try not to get caught in the crossfire! The bolts are laced with poison!" Connor warned as both crossbows were almost reloaded, and upon being reloaded and aimed two more shots both landed a hit - one near the tip of its tail and the other imbedding itself into the Wyrms intestines. While there wasn't too much they could do at the moment, hopefully the poison on the bolt tips would be enough to kill the beast.

Some poisons could affect the spirit, and Urzoth wasn’t willing to test if Connor’s was one of those. Grabbing onto the wyrm, they rolled underneath, giving the suits of armor a better target. Their limp body stayed underneath, absorbed into the large bear above it. With a roar, the grizzly bit at the neck of the wyrm, trying to control its mouth, even if its armor was too strong to penetrate.
