Asmund Adonis
Deck- Open Waters

"Good morning, my dogs!" Adonis called out to the crew and they all fell in line, letting him speak. He was in quite the jovial mood right now. "We're on the trail to the treasure and getting close. Thank the night team for that." Adonis was always quick to praise the night team. They were very important in keeping the ship on track, cleaning, and identifying other ships on the seas while God slept. He went into the roll call. As soon as it was over, he moved on to the business at hand. "The place we're headed to is a sunken ship in a place called Whirlpool Bay" he announced, "The ship sank and all the crew was killed. The formation of Whirlpools in this area are not a natural occurance due to the high amount of Water Magic residue in the area." That meant there was something else around it.

"There is a bounty for the body of the captain for no other reason than to bring closure to the man's birth family," he said, "So if by some off chance we find a survivor, we bring them back aboard. I'm sure if the captain survives, we get paid more. Easy........as for the chest, there is a relic in it called the Amulet of All-Sight."

The Amulet of All-Sight gave perfect vision, unaffected by vision hindering of any kind. It's been known to make the blind see as well as vision where one could zoom in and out as if looking through a scope, thermal, infrared, magic-sight, and calculated sight which gave the knowledge of the precise distance between them and what they were looking at.

Adonis crossed his arms. "So if we can get to that, we can get our blinded orc back in the fight. Begin prep for a dive!" With one giant hurrah, everyone broke.

"Fergie!" When everything broke, Adonis moved over to Fergie. "Come with me. You're taking point for this dive, along with a man you need to meet. We need to get you outfitted and prepped."

It couldn't be said that this mission would be a first. Fergie had seen her fair share of shipwreck excavations in the past; with her previous employer's connections with a resourceful merlady, the crew had spent a sizable portion of their work combing the sea floor for lost artifacts and sunken treasure. To call herself an expert on the matter would be a stretch longer than her arm's reach, but it was enough of a familiarity to ease any apprehension of the unknowable. And enough of a laundry list of potential hazards to give her a rush of anticipatory thrill, especially when the captain informed her of her future role.

"Aye, Capt'n," was all that left her lips, but given how she couldn't quite fight them from quirking upwards, there was more on her mind than mere adherence. Now, this was more like it. Those previous ship raids must have proven her mettle to the captain, who originally had been reluctant to send her on the front lines due to her... lack, she supposed. It was only sensible to put some precautionary limits on any sailor with a missing limb, prosthetic or not, but even now she couldn't help but feel a spot miffed over it. She didn't need to be given any lax for her condition. She didn't need any help.

Ah, but it was with Adonis's help that she was even able to function on board. Had she not taken the offer of one of his wishes, Fergie wouldn't even be standing there, probably dropped off at some port due to a constant bout of clumsiness with an unsynced prosthetic. That would have been a hundredfold the embarrassment of last night's incident. She decided to count her blessings.

Silently relishing in the scrap of pride tossed her way, Fergie followed without another word.

Diving Room

Adonis took Fergie downstairs into a room. Given that the vast majority of doors on this ship were wooden, the metal ones were pretty important. The door to the Captain's Quarters, the Navigation Room, the Cannon Room, and the Armory. This room was the Diving Room and, like those rooms, had a metal door. As he opened the door, it was punctuated by a loud ker-chunk! as if opening a vault door. In the room was a massive submarine bay complete with about 5 submarines, 1 big and 4 smallers ones. "This room is essentially a Submarine Bay compressed with magic and put inside this ship," Adonis explained. That had to cost an absolute fortune, not only to forge something with THAT high a level of magic, but to also pay for the submarines. Off to the side of the room was another room, which he led her to. In that room held scuba diving gear. The flippers, the goggles, all that nonsense. "In these tanks are compressed air magic, which gives you a good 24 hours of breathing under water."

Another man walked into the room. "Oi, captain."
"Here's the man. Your partner." Adonis said cheerfully, "Fergie, this is Sebas Deadeye. Sebas, Fergie....." He turned to her. "Get acquainted and be prepped to dive by the time we get there. I got shit to do." With that, Adonis left the room in a hurry.

(He's taking his leave as my MC)

Sebas Deadeye
Diving Room

Sebas had on him a bulky rifle and a large cutlass on his person. He brimmed with strength. He had been on the ship for quite a while. So this woman with a prosthetic was to be with him? Adonis's judgement was pretty good for the most part, so he had no reason to doubt Fergie's ability to do what she was tasked to do.......did he? "Nice to meet you, Fergie. Sebas. Shoots a lot, Cuts a lot." He took a good look at her and immediately got the sense that she was somewhat a Goblin. Her features just SCREAMED goblin. Raised in an Orc society, which lived with Goblins, he could tell. However, she had the height of an orc which, at his own 5'7", she towered over him as well. Given her skin, she definitely wasn't pureblood, but if she were orc and goblin, she would be green for sure. She was either half human with dominant tall genes or half elf, who tended to stand about as tall as Orcs. Of course, while he didn't say anything, he wasn't exactly subtle in trying to figure out her origins.

"We're taking point for this dive. This means we'll be scouting the sunken ship for hostile creatures causing the whirlpools. Otherwise, the ship can't approach."

WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

Fergie maintained an attentive quiet in favor of not expressing how much every facet of this ship impressed her. Where the hell did the captain even get these sorts of accommodations? Actual fucking showers were one thing, but these magical rooms bigger on the inside than the out? She couldn't let herself be too surprised, though. With the crew's constant successes with their high sea heists, naturally there'd be a shitton of money pooling into their banks.

Anticipatory hands rubbed one another as she was directed into the outfitting room, eyes glossing over the array of gadgetry lining the walls before falling on the new face. Well, new in a sense. She'd seen this man a few times during her brief recruitment, firing rounds upon enemy crews while at battle and walking the decks when not. But this was the first time they'd be formally meeting.

"Same." Fergie glanced at the gun on his back and the sword at his belt, respectively. "An' same." It was becoming clear that Sebas was making his own sort of glances over her. It didn't cross her mind exactly why he seemed to be investigating her. Hell, it could've been anything. There were enough peculiarities about her that made most strangers eye her in that strange way. Still got really fucking old after the first hundred times.

Ever the master of subtly herself, Fergie rolled her eyes, the tension in her shoulders only loosening when Sebas finally got down to business. "Recon, then? Well 'nough." Already she was rifling through the rows of suits in search of a proper fit, perhaps in vain with her odd proportions. "Never been in one of thems pods before, but I've gone divin'."

Diving Room

"I'm the same in that I prefer to dive instead of pilot." Sebas responded, "There are places that a sub just can't reach. It's there more for firepower than anything." While Ferg would be armed, a spear or harpoon gun couldn't compete with essentially torpedoes. "Since we're taking point and not in a sub, we'll be relying on the sub for protection while in the open," he then grinned, "If we end up alone in a place inaccessible by a sub, it's just us and whatever the gods wants us to face." Sebas lived for battle, as evidence by his many many scars. It was time to take the measurements

Being as professional as possible, Sebas took Ferg's measurements and outfitted her for the upcoming dive. Goggles, an oxygen tank, flippers, a diving suit, the works. He also gave her a harpoon gun. "This harpoon gun is synchronized with your magic, which seems to be Earth. Do with it what you will." He grabbed his own gun. "I think you're ready now, physically at least." Sebas grabbed his diving gear and ensured everything was all good. "When you're ready, we can do a test dive to verify the integrity of the equipment." Plus, he wanted to see her swimming ability with all that gear on, as well as ensure the harpoon guns were working well.

It took a special sort of person to not leak apprehension from every pore at the thought of being tossed into the mercies of the sea. During her own expeditions, fellow shipmates would gawk at the idea of plunging into her depths, where any number of unknowns lurked. Perhaps it was that, or the association with the dead, where drowned ships and sailors were locked away into unseen graves. Some must prefer that they remain unseen.

Not that Fergie gave much of a shit about that. She had yet to piss off any ghosts while ransacking sunken ships, and she didn't expect that to start today. And apparently neither did this man, grinning like an idiot at the thought of running into danger. So long as he kept that up, and laid off the weird stares, maybe they could get along.

"Eh." She tugged at an inch of loose fabric hanging from her arm. It was clear that the outfit was meant to be a little more skintight, but with her twiggy arms, this was the best she was getting. When she was content with the fact, both hands gripped the gun in a fortified posture. "Aye. Ready."

They went up to the deck. "First, pu t this on." It was a crystal tied to a small chain. "Usually this would go more like a necklace, but when diving, it needs to be readily accessible," Sebas informed. "It's a communications crystal, uses magic to communicate with whoever else has one.......or whatever else has the magic outside these crystals." It was essentially a magic phone. "Inject it with even the tiniest bit of magic (or like a mana potion or something), think of who you want to talk to and if they can, you can speak to them regardless of distance." Sebas tapped his twice and the other one lit up.

"Keep it close. Otherwise, we'll have to stick to face-to-face communications. Now to dive." Sebas jumped in the salty, slightly cool waters and began to swim downwards. "Double time," Sebas said, his voice coming from Ferg's crystal.

Awaiting was the salty seas while the ship was pretty much drifting at the moment, not allowing them to be left behind
WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

When it flickered in her hand, the crystal's glow lit Fergie's eyes up with curiosity. "Shiny-- er-- Fancy. You folks really have somethin' for everythin'."

Any more on that subject would have sounded like she was stroking the collective ego of the crew, so she bit her tongue from making any more slips. She needed to save her breath for the excavation they were ready to undergo, anyway. Thusly, Sebas's voice wouldn't be getting a response back; no need to tell him she was on her way when she'd show up at his side in a few moments' haste.

The initial chill was soon forgotten as her body adjusted to the weightless feeling, her ears rumbling with deep sounds where the surface was breaking with the ship's hull. As many times as she'd done this, it always felt like she was entering a new world when diving. "Kinda missed this." So much for biting her tongue.

With that shortest vow of silence in existence being broken, she decided to get down to business. "Gear check." She patted down her breathing equipment. "Not drownin' yet." Next was the harpoon gun. "... How do I shoot this thing?"

The world morphed from a sunny slightly cloudy sky under a sun ramping up the heat into a subaquatic weightless landscape tinted a hazy cyan blue that began to turn more green as they looked down. The surface-level ocean depths had few fish, but the numbers began to rise as their vision shifted moved downwards. Inversely, as the numbers of fish rose, the amount of light as well as the temperature would drop.

Under the waves, they were greeted with the sight of many fish including trout, salmon, bass, a few sea turtles, and sharks, some of them glowing to symbolize the presence of magic coursing through their blood. In this area, there seemed to be no sign of species like fishfolk or merfolk. Maybe because it was the fact that they were at the surface of the ocean......... This sort of thing was Sebas's forte and the effects of the water on his body felt second nature.

Sebas Deadeye
Underwater- Near Ship

When Fergie gave the gear check, Sebas gave a thumbs up. He then swam around her to inspect for anything like bubbles coming from the equipment. "All good, now for the harpoon gun." He pulled up his own. "This has the spear attached to a chain. Pull the trigger like ever other gun and........." he showed her the bolting mechanism, ".......pull it back like you're bolting a rifle and it'll reel back the spear quickly. If you want a magic-charged harpoon, just redirect some magic into your hands and you'll see it in the gun." It was easier to just show her

He whipped to the side to show her, firing a shot. The spear shot forward with immense speed, narrowly missing a fish that was passing by. He bolted it back and the spear returned, reloading itself into the gun for him to fire off another shot. "There are harpoon guns and spear guns. Harpoon guns have a chain attached to a longer spear. Spear guns have no chain and are shorter. Shoots like a repeater but with limited ammo."

  • Harpoon gun
    • A single longer spear attached by a chain (what they're currently holding). By bolting, the spear returns. Much higher projectile speed, but must wait for rechamber between shots. Basically a bolt-action sniper
  • Spear gun
    • Shorter, unattached spears. Much higher fire rate, but a limited magazine size and spears must be manually recovered. Basically like a SMG

"To infuse it with magic, just redirect magic into your hands and the gun with catalyze it." A simple demonstration would end in the spear glowing a dim white. He fired another shot and the spear travelled at a blinding speed. "Just know that the use of elemental magic may attract attention of fish who use that same kind of magic, as they won't be HURT by it........so beware of predators."

To sum up
  • An earth-charged spear will attract earth-magic fish but since they resist earth-magic, they won't be killed by earth-charged shots.
  • In other words, use it where fish are weak to it and use it wisely. Otherwise, you'll attract unneeded attention

"Any questions? Because if not, we can break in this gear before returning to the ship." Sebas said. Explanations were boring, but magic-catalyzing weaponry weren't something that EVERY pirate ship just had on it.........plus, she just asked him how to fire something with a trigger on it

WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

After Sebas's demonstration, Fergie took a shot at firing her own gun, pointing the spear away from where schools were passing by and pulling the trigger. She mirrored the steps, bolting and reeling the spear back into its chamber with a dull click. "Cake walk." Sebas must have handled these weapons for a long time, so her movements lacked the finesse and familiarity his had. Practice would even out the bumps.

When they got to enchanting the weaponry was when she hesitated. Fergie never was a strong magic-user, even before Dead Man's Isle had sapped the magic out of her. Although she had used one of the captain's favors to restore her abilities, she doubted that it made her any more proficient than before. It wouldn't hurt to try it, though. She redirected her cautious gaze from the harpoon gun to the surrounding waters, evaluating the threat potential. The glowing fish in the vicinity didn't look like the aggressive sorts-- never mind that Sebas already fired an enchanted shot himself-- so she began concentrating, a rush of energy filling her palms and tingling down her fingers. The feeling was gone as soon as it came, the spear pulsing with a faint light. She took aim and fired again, this shot only half the speed of Sebas's but ending with a pop that sent a bolt of green energy several feet past the chain's length before dissipating.

When she bolted the spear back, she looked between the area of impact and the gun in a very "did I just do that??" fashion. It was hardly the most impressive display of earth magic, with what equated to a sniper shot, but it was certainly more than she was expecting. Hell, she'd half expected the thing to sputter out and go limp in the current. It at least would have made perfecting timing for an unwanted "that's what she said" joke, but thankfully she didn't have to make a fool of herself this time. "Well damn. Guess I'm not that shite at magic."

Sebas was asking for any more questions. She held back a snort.

How do ye tell the difference 'tween cheap wine an' fine wine?

She'd already asked the brilliant inquiry of how to fire a weapon with a trigger on it. One stupid question was enough.

"Nay. Ready for the next course of action."

"The next course of action is the real deal," Sebas said, "There is nothing more we can do on this subject right now." They surfaced. They COULD keep swimming and practicing, but nothing more would come of it besides practice. "Everything else you learn, will be when you're looking into the face of it. No worries though, we're working TOGETHER for this." He had no interest in one-upping her, especially since they'll both be punished if they failed due to negligence. "I'll see you when we stop to dive."

(Time Skip)
That Evening
Deck

They all gathered together with Adonis at the helm. "We're arriving to the location and we've already got a ton of reports of whirlpools. We're about as far as we can go safely." Any further and the ship would likely start taking damage or at least having a very hard time progressing further.

This was punctuated by the sounds of rapidly swirling water under the amber sky as the sun began to finish up its shift for the day. "This is the area of interest, though we're a little ways out, still within swim distance," Adonis explained, "We'll get a diving team down there to find the origin of these whirlpools because there is a lot of magic residue found in the area, which suggest that these whirlpools aren't simply natural phenomena." Sebas thought about what was being said with a smile at the thought of going right into danger. He was more than happy to be doing this to the point where he volunteered for it. He knew Ferg didn't though, so hopefully she wouldn't be prone to turning tail and running at the first sign of danger, though he didn't exactly doubt her ability to accomplish the mission

"Sebas, Ferg," he said, turning towards them, "You two are taking point as my divers. You'll have 1 sub at your disposal for protection. I trust you explained to Ferg how this'll work in general terms."
"As much as I could," Sebas replied with a shrug. There really wasn't all that much to explain. This wasn't Ferg's first diving rodeo.
"Good. Get strapped up and give the signal when all of you are ready." Adonis said with a nod. "When you're done dealing with the issue, hit me back and we'll enter the area so we can get down to that ship."

With that, most were dismissed. Sebas went over to Ferg. "I trust you were utilizing your time well?" Sebas was looking over the area, historic shipwrecks and creatures in those waters, so he could be properly informed. He was definitely fearless and maybe brash it seemed, but he certainly wasn't stupid. "It's time for the real deal."
WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

Indeed, this wasn't her first diving mission. But the roar of rushing waters in the far distance reminded Fergie that this would be her first time swimming among dangerous whirlpools. A chill brought her hairs to a near stand when she recalled one unfortunate encounter with such a force of nature. She remembered it just as well, a cry of "Maelstrom!" from the crows nest, the ship's creaking and groaning as the current threatened to pull her into pieces, the panicked crew as they wrestled to keep her from falling into that dark hole. That violent, black pit where certain doom awaited at the bottom.

It wasn't her fondest memory. But it wasn't one that would keep her from tackling this job head-on. Besides, their task was to eliminate the threats entirely. A far cry from encountering one on a stroke of bad luck. They'd be the ones in control here.

At Sebas's approach and subsequent inquiry, the words came unbidden from her mouth. "Practiced holdin' me breath while walkin' by the shitters, if that counts." Gods, let that be a good joke. So far he didn't seem like the joking type, and even if he were...

Fergie followed his gaze out over the waters. At least he wasn't the type to shun the notion of danger. "Takin' down whirlpools, then? Can't say I've done that before."

Sub Bay

That actually elicited a chuckle from Sebas. "Damn right. Smells like every night is enchalada night." The smell of hot shit mixed with saltwater. "Look on the bright side, though. You either learn to hold your breath or learn to fight diseases." One couldn't go nose-blind to a smell like that. Sebas had no idea why the smell was that awful, but he did know that Capt assigned someone to clean the toilets near the captain's quarters, which really only him and leadership used. With that kind of smell coming from the crew's shitters, it was understandable.

"The whirlpools aren't natural. They're being conjured." he explained. "That means something is creating them and it's on us to find them and most likely kill them." Sebas looked to Ferg. "This shouldn't be too hard, but then again I have no idea what it could be creating them." Whirlpools underwater were a basic-level water spell, which meant that strong water magic creatures could make some devastatingly strong ones.

They got strapped up again, in separate rooms for obvious reasons. When they met back up, they went out to the sub bay, where the sub pilot was already in the sub and ready to dive. He gave the duo a thumbs up. Sebas returned it before addressing his mission partner again. "The guy who pilots the sub is really damn trigger happy, so it's best to stick with me. The fucker once shot a torpedo at me coming out of a trench because he thought I was a hostile merman." he half-laughed half-scoffed at the statement. "But after shoving his face in one of those toilets you like smelling so much, he may ask more questions before shooting this time around.........MAY"

WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

A multi-terrain vessel armed to the teeth with every offense and defense imaginable, and yet they didn't have the means to make the stalls smell less like a sewer? All that money really must have been getting pooled into those fancy toys. That, or the higher ups didn't give a shit... figuratively. Fergie withheld her complaints. At least it got a laugh out of Sebas.

"Figures." They'd be facing an unknown down in those waters. It never was that easy, was it? But such was the life of a pirate. She didn't have any complaints to withhold regarding that. "Somethin' or someone must really want to keep folks like us out." She found it unlikely that the sunken ship they'd be searching had been simply passing through such a hazardous area. Perhaps it had been searching for something here, or hell, maybe the treasure they'd be excavating was already here, and the drowned crew had failed to sail it out of the area. Either way, it was plain how well that worked out for them. They'd have to take the care that the unfortunate crew didn't. That, or just be luckier.

Gauging its size, Fergie could tell she was going to have to duck her head under the ceiling of the submarine, but it was almost second nature anyway, so she didn't comment. She was much more concerned about the Nervous Nancy who'd be driving them. "If not, then we'll just take him swimmin' again. Can't hurt to tell 'im twice." It was a juvenile and unhygienic tactic, but that was what made it perfect, and she couldn't stop herself from grinning at the thought.

Sub Bay

"I like the way you think, Ferg." Sebas said with a wide grin. When he dove in, Ferg's crystal began to glow, symbolizing how they would be talking henceforth while under the water.

Underwater

These waters were a little cooled than the early-mid afternoon. It was a tinted golden greenish near the water's surface, yet getting darker than at higher depths than the mid afternoon. Sebas made his way over to the whirlpools. They were in set area and seemed to have different points of "origin" where they all seemed to funnel down to. As it got darker and darker, the sub became more and more important as it was a good source of lighting. They had their own lighting, but it wasn't as strong and weren't attached to a sub-aquatic war machine.

There were also swarms of fish and sharks around them, some of them glowing to symbolize inherent magic ability. Maybe they were causing it. "Sub, move in and scatter the fish." If they were the cause, it would be easy. He doubted it though

"Hell yea!" The sub began to shoot into the swarms of fish, firing flachette rounds and homing torpedos, illuminating the space underwater in heat and blood, much to Sebas's annoyance. "I said MOVE THE SUB IN, You IDIOT!" he barked. The reason he said move the sub in became very very apparent within seconds. The sharks there began to get violent, thrashing around like mad-fish trying to attack and eat any and everything in their paths. The glowing sharks began to glow and then all the eyes on the sharks began to glow a piercing red as well, meaning that shark just enchanted every other shark in the area.

If the pilot had just physically moved the sub in, the fish would've all scattered. Now, while it did scatter the fish, it also attracted every shark and ravenous siren for miles around. Just under 10 minutes into the mission and they're already having a big complication.
WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

Near the top, the funnels almost maintained a crystalline appearance, golden light from the sunset scattering over the entrapped water's surface as it was sucked into the vortexes. As they stretched down the darkening depths below, they darkened as well, tight ropes almost silhouetted against the green-blue and disappearing into the murky haze. Aside from the slight pull from the currents, reminding her of their power, Fergie found them markedly less terrifying at this angle. Intimidating, quite, but nothing of the sort of fear she'd felt from that awful maelstrom her old crew had narrowly escaped from.

Besides, there were plenty of other things to fear in these waters.

"Fer fuck's sake!" Fergie stared in stunned disbelief as the previously docile schools had turned into a full out feeding frenzy, the waters surrounding the funnel tinting red as roused sharks made quick work of whatever those torpedoes spared. Disbelief more so at the absolute stupidity their sub pilot had displayed, not mention the absolute disregard for life. Had it been necessary to take violent action, then so be it, but taking the first opportunity to blast hapless creatures to smithereens? A snarl of disgust broadcasted through the team's crystals. Trigger happy, indeed.

"Gods." Harpoon gun in her hands, Fergie watched the growing swarm with unblinking eyes. "We gotta lay low. Too many to take on, should they start thirstin' fer our blood."

Kylesar1 Kylesar1

"Agreed," Sebas said, frantically swimming down as the feeding frenzy began to spread out. "That abortion stain of a pilot is the type to taunt the tiger at a zoo." They came upon a narrow space at some rocks, with an entrance too small for something like a shark.........which was good because some of them were moving towards them. They weren't actively swimming AT them, but once they were noted, it was fight or die. Out-swimming a shark was about as likely as running a minute mile, and probably required the same speed.

"In here, Ferg. I guess we'll have to wait it out a bit." Out at the feeding frenzy, the sharks started bashing against the sub and moving in what seemed to be very calculated maneuvers at the behest of one of the glowing ones. The sub of course couldn't keep up with fish and started firing torpedoes blindly, which tried to follow the sharks. That wasn't good as a torpedo could inadvertently destroy the sub. "He's gonna get himself killed. Seems favorable at this point."

Sebas took point so Ferg could enter the hiding place first, as a shark duo finally took note of them and began swimming at them very fast, and then splitting up to flank either side of him. One of them was a Glowie, which Sebas fired at but the shark dodged it, indicating higher intelligence. "Let's hope we both fit." Sebas said calmly.
WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

As morbid as Sebas's observation was, Fergie wouldn't be disagreeing. "Tch. Just what happens when ye taunt the tiger," she said as she kicked her way after him, glancing over her shoulder to watch the struggle between the sharks and the sub take place overhead. "The thing claws out of its enclosure, tracks ye down, and mauls ye in the souvenir shop." Though instead of being traumatized like some poor children clinging to their parents and shrieking at the sight, the two pirates felt a degree of karmic justice from the whole thing. She wouldn't be going out her way to save that guy's ass, that was for damn sure.

Fergie didn't care to wait around and see who would come out on top, since that would precede becoming the sharks' next meal. Slipping into the narrow space was easy with her rail-thin frame, but adjusting her arms and legs within the jagged walls was proving to be difficult. When in doubt, tuck and duck. "It's-- ow, shit-- Good enough! Hurry!"

Underwater

Sebas tried to squeeze into the hole, but he couldn't get his upper torso into the hole. "Shit! Guess I'm fighting!" About to take the shark head on, Sebas gave up and swam up as the non-glowy slammed into the hole's entrance. Sebas fired at the glowy, who dodged the first few rounds, but took a hit as it moved closer and was thus unable to dodge as the closer it got.

Sebas certainly couldn't outswim these sharks, noted by one attempting to bite him, but biting into his harpoon gun and smashing him against the wall as it was one thing Sebas couldn't give up if he wanted to live. Moving forward, he jammed his finger into the shark's eye, causing it to recoil violently and thrash a bit, making the glowy back off a bit lest it ends up on the business end of gnashing teeth or a strong slapping rear fin.

"Serrate!" The thrashing bought Sebas the time he needed to take aim and fire at the glowy, which shot through the shark and flared out barbs once it penetrated skin. The thrashing of the shark pulled Sebas along with it, since they were connected by a chain. Given the immense amount of blood pouring out of that shark, it was dying rapidly

Suddenly, Sebas was dazed as he was struck by the non-glowing shark, who recovered a bit and looked to attack again instead of backing off. Maybe it was due to the glowy, but Sebas didn't have much time to think......not that it was easy after taking that fin to the head.
WayfaringWaaksian WayfaringWaaksian

Sebas's big-ass shoulders served a good case against doing too many lifts. "Ack!" Fergie fumbled with her gun when the shark barreled against the entrance, but with the cramped quarters only succeeded in scuffing up her elbows. Insult to injury, when it turned tail to join the glowy before she could land a hit on it.

"Oh no ye don't!" Scrambling out of the hole and kicking herself off from the rocks did little to compete with the shark's speed; Sebas would be fending for himself for a tense minute before she was in range. Not that she was too frightened for him, with how quickly he dispatched the glowy. But with his harpoon lodged into its thrashing body, he was unarmed and at risk. Dammit, she knew she should have gone with the spear gun before diving.

Resigned to using what was at hand, Fergie took aim and shot towards his assailant. It was clear that the glowy was influencing its actions, but with the life draining out of it in billowing clouds of red, it wasn't to last. She had make a distraction to keep Sebas from getting his limbs bitten off in the meantime. Whether the harpoon met its mark or merely grazed its toothed skin, it should have been enough to alert the non-glowing shark to the new combatant.

The harpoon connected with the non-glowy's back fin, doing Ferg one better. Since she went with the harpoon gun instead of the spear gun, the harpoon flexed its barbs and kept it from swimming any closer to Sebas if it didn't want its back fin shredded into ribbon.......so long as Ferg kept her grip and her position like an anchor.

It whipped around at the harpoon chain and started darting towards Ferg. Its eyes glowed red and it actually sped up, an already fast shark swimming even faster due to the glowy's spell. That fact that it went for Ferg was a sign that the glowy's influence was weakening as, if it were at full strength, it would be trying to protect the glowy while under its influence, especially since it was currently in dire straits

Sebas bolted the harpoon gun and the harpoon was forcefully ripped out from the shark's body as it retracted back into the gun. Sebas took another shot and this one went deep into the shark's side. "Oh yeah, I hit something good," Sebas said. While one couldn't see his face, one could hear the cocky smirk he had to be sporting from his voice alone. He was extremely grateful to Ferg because his only plan to avoid getting torn to shreds while glowy's light was being snuffed out would've been to maneuver to make the shark bite the harpoon chain instead.

The glowy was intelligent, and part of its intelligence was self-preservation. With it almost shrouded in a cloud of its own blood and another bolt about to rip through its side, it knew it lost and fleeing was better than dying. It began to swim down and forcefully ripped out the harpoon bolt in order to flee, quickly being lost under the now red-clouded waters. "Das got to hurt," Sebas said. It might not even survive the flee.

"Snagged 'im!" That announcement should alert to Sebas that he could resume his focus on the glowy. The snagged shark wouldn't be leaving her range outside of her terms. Of course, that posed its own set of problems, though none of which she was unprepared for. There was no outswimming a charging shark, but that high speed would make honing in on a moving target nigh impossible should it decide to dodge last second. A hasty kick of her flippers got her out of the path of those snapping jaws-- just barely-- which should have given her enough time to bolt her gun and reel the harpoon in before the shark could drag her for a ride.

The chain retreated into her gun, a trail of red left from the ripped fin, harpoon clicked into place and poised towards the recovering shark. "Try that again," she dared. Invited, really. If it did decide on a second go at her, it would just give her the perfect shot into its maw. But she would have to see if it would continue its attack on her or be drawn to the fight Sebas was putting up.

"Does Captain Adonis allow fratricide?"

With the glowing shark having fled and the non-glowy hurt bad, it also decided to flee, swimming off and away from the duo. Sebas gave a deep exhale. "We will work excellently together henceforth, Ferg," Sebas said to her victoriously, "Don't be fooled for a second by how brutal we can be. If facing what looks to be bad odds, those like me who take point cover up the cowards on the ship. I can name only a few on that ship I would've certainly depended on to leave that hiding spot to save my ass........and one of those is the Captain himself." By contrast, they could both see what type of person the sub pilot would've been in that situation.

With that, he looked out to the sub. The coast was clear and all fish gone from the area. "I owe ya one. 1 favor. Anything within reason," Sebas said, throwing her a thumbs up

The sub pilot came in to both of their crystals. "Coast is clear. Fish stood no chance," he said with a chuckle.
"Shut the fuck up, you damned dirty fool!" Sebas yelled savagely, "Shut your damned mouth and open your cotton-blocked ears. I'll drown your ass in the shitter the next time you pull that stunt!" It was like flipping a switch with Sebas. His victorious chuckle and general approachable aura was immediately replaced with almost unhinged rage at the sub pilot. Captain Adonis didn't assign a mission leader, but it was obvious who took charge.
"Aye........." The sub pilot's joy at victory was replaced with a voice full of dejected disappointment.
"You sit your ass in that sub while we fight for our lives. I'm not about to lose my mission partner so you can feel like you did something right in life!" Sebas berated the pilot relentlessly
"Aye......." was about all the pilot could say. It was obvious what kind of person the pilot was........not one that would take on a shark with smile on his face, that's for sure
"Now fire the tracers and sit in suffocating mediocrity. Don't. You. Speak again until you're ready to listen and obey."

Sharks weren't exactly known for their foresight, but even a top predator had the sense to know when to leave the fight. Fergie maintained her position, watching it descend into the deep with suspicion, until she was absolutely certain it wouldn't be pulling a fast one on her. "Good answer."

Sebas wasn't being ignored when she was directing her gaze to every which way of the area; she wanted to make sure the feeding frenzy had settled down, or at least moved out of range before giving him her full attention. There was a look of surprise behind her goggles at his words, until she remembered that hiding away from bad odds was just in the nature of pirate. Now she was beaming, satisfied that her performance had impressed him enough to grant her a favor. "Ah, so ye were testin' me, then? Had a feelin'." She hadn't, and he probably wasn't, but it amused her to say.

Self-preservation wasn't in of itself a bad thing. As her old captain had put it, pirates weren't soldiers guarding the property of their Crown with their lives. If anything, they were little more than thieves with swords and big guns. And like the shark that had abandoned the attack, a good thief knew when to high-tail it to save his own ass.

But this wasn't a mission in thievery. And the sub pilot wasn't in fear for his life.

It was a good thing that Sebas was already chewing him out relentlessly, because Fergie had a few choice words of her own she would have been pleased to shove down that idiot's throat. "Fish stood no chance"-- of course they didn't! Yer in a big ass tank, what could they've done 'sides slap yer can 'round?! Sebas was quick to beat the smugness out of that prick, which she grateful for. Had they been in the sub together, Fergie wasn't sure if she wouldn't have smacked the pilot upside his cavernous head just for having the audacity. She couldn't necessary call him a coward in this scenario, but he had no right being this self-assured when he wasn't the one who was at risk of becoming fish chum.

"All that fer nothin', too," came her voice through the crystals, when she cast a look towards the unchanged vortexes. Unchanged to her eyes, anyway.

Underwater- Dysphotic Zone (200+ meters)

"Of course it was for nothing. It's almost like if he'd have used his brain for something besides a second arsehole, he'd have done something besides waste ammo." Sebas said, annoyance-filled to the brim

Unchanged they were indeed. The whirlpools were still raging even after the sub's bombardment. The trail was fully illuminated though. "We got a good little lead now. Let's follow this trail, Ferg..........Sub! You will light our path behind us. If you fire a single shot while you're behind us, you had better pray to whatever god you serve that it kills me," Sebas threatened. The sub pilot was already on thin ice and shots firing behind them would make Sebas think he was making a direct attempt on their lives, and Sebas would definitely blast through the sub's glass and end the pilot

The trail went cold there. "Sub, get lower and fire an illumination round."
"Moving.........Firing Illumination........"
A small missile came from the sub and then exploded in an audibly lower tone than the torpedoes. When it exploded, it spread balls of bright light around, which stuck to rocks and effectively made the whole area glow. Sebas had only a few rounds in his flare gun, so he'd need full use of the sub's capabilities.

"Ferg, this isn't normal light declination. By the time we reach 300 meters, we'll be looking into the midnight zone." It was almost completely pitch black outside of the light the sub and their own flashlights generated. The area was almost completely and utterly bathed in darkness. "Whatever the source is, it's in this area. Let's see if we can't find anything hidden in this frigid nonsense." It was cold. Their suits had built in fire magic to prevent them getting cold, but it wasn't quite activating yet.
"Be advised, I'm picking up concentrated levels of Dark Magic to the right." the sub pilot said. Sebas didn't know if it was his chewing out that whipped him into shape or the fact that, this deep, his life wasn't as assured as before, but it was needed right now.

To the right was a small tunnel, far too small for a sub to get into. "I can't get into there, but I will fire another illumination round into it." The sub fired and the tunnel was completely illuminated, but there also seemed to be a barely audible sizzling sound emanating from the tunnel.

"Standby, sub. Henceforth, you can fire at will, but absolutely NO explosive rounds at the tunnel. The last thing we want is a cave-in. Got it?"
"Got it."
"I'll shatter that damned glass if you fuck up this time."

Now it was time to get to the source of the whirlpools.

(So this has all been scene setting and now if you want to inject your own ideas for the environment and hostiles, this can be a good starting place, not that I've been discouraging you from doing so anyways.)
