For hundreds of years, everyone knew it was coming already. One way or another, it was sure to come; whether it was going to be their star exploding, the ozone layer completely breaking, the oceans rising to flood the land, even a possible meteor coming to crush the cities; the end of the Earth. Although humanity prepared the best they could for any possible disaster to either prolong the inevitable.

However, nothing could've prepared them for what was to come. The year was 2493, life of everyone on Earth was going on as normal as it always was; without so much as the slightest warning though, the skies quickly darkened as the very moon and sun was quickly shielded by massive triangular shaped ships. The shock the filled the planet caused absolute silence to spread throughout the planet for a few moments before strange creatures of all different shapes and sizes began to descend from the sky and started to mass murder innocent civilians all around the globe.

It was only out of a miracle that as cities all around the planet started to crumble and the military being defeated left and right from all around the world that humans were able to sneak off into hiding within the mountains of China, Everest, Mt. Fuji and even Mt. Rushmore. Hiding off within these very places were the last remaining numbers of humanity and where they lived for several years during the time that a new secret project finally came to light for the public to know about. Project ARK and Project EDEN. These project was supposed to remain a secret until it was confirmed the day that the planet was going to end because of some kind of other disaster aside from being attacked by an unknown enemy like this.

Though, with the circumstances as they were; the projects were rushed all that much more to be completed. Project ARK was to create multiple intergalactic ships that was able to leave the planet's atmosphere with ease so that ordinary humans wouldn't need any sort of training to be able to climb into the ship and leave the planet into space without any side affects or pain.
Project EDEN at this point was already near it's completion, there being hundreds of thousands of workers and scientists far off into space away from planet Earth, building a gigantic space station that was going to be able to hold the entire population of the Earth without the concern of any other natural disasters but as well as to slightly simulate a close representation of Earth.

With the rush of the completion of both projects, in a year to two time span; the projects were fully finished and by this point, the ships that invaded Earth had left yet the unknown threat roamed the planet in search of survivors that they killed or did worse to. Their technology littered the planet all over, and any of those who attempted escape from being imprisoned were killed off without the slightest thought of remorse.

As the day finally came to leave the planet, each of the mountains began to open massive hanger like doors on the side of the mountains to allow the ships known as ARKs to leave the planet. Due to the technology and how desperate humanity had been, the ships were able to leave orbit without too much damage done to them by the cannons that the unknown threat had planted onto the surface all over the planet. Being able to finally escape Earth and eventually reach the giant space station, life slowly began to return to normal.

It was only a matter of time that the space station that was supposed to considered a new Earth became well known throughout the universe to even other races. Slowly enough, one after another of other races started to pour into the station asking and pleading for assistance due to how their situations had become similar because of the same exact threat that humanity had also faced. Of course, this took a while of debating between government officials but yet eventually it came to an agreement that these alien races were allowed to join into the new home of humanity and soon enough gaining the same rights as humans; even if it might've taken quite the long amount of time due to the distrust in aliens after the invasion of Earth.

Sitting at a large mahogany desk with his golden hues focused at the table the entire time while he wrote several different detailed information about the previous mission he had just returned from not too long ago, a young looking male with shoulder length black and red hair wearing his usual black button up coat with the SATU symbol plastered on the upper left corner of his shoulder sat there. In silence he had made sure to write the last bit of what had occurred on the mission before placing his pen down and resting his elbows onto the desk and running his fingers through his hair. "God, those higher ups in the Government want way too much from the SATU. Honestly, when will they ever leave us alone..?" Questioning himself in the office alone, it was only mere moments of silence before a knock at the double wooden doors caught his attention, raising his head up only to reply with nothing more than the word 'enter.'
Seconds right after allowing permission for whomever was at the door to enter, another male entered who appeared near his early sixties. In his right hand he held onto a silver tray that had a small white cup as well as a kettle of hot tea still steaming, in his left arm he held onto a white cloth as he approached the table with a warm smile across his lips the entire time. "My, oh my...hard at work as always Sakamoto. You know, Elizabeth would never approve of you working such long hours like this...she's told you time and time again in the past didn't she? To go rest and relax after a mission and paperwork could be taken care at any point. There is no rush." The man stated as he placed down the cup onto the stacks of paperwork in front of the younger male known as Sakamoto; otherwise known as the current Head Commander of the SATU. Pouring him the cup full of his favorite tea, Sakamoto had only stared down at the light brown liquid in silence as he held onto the warm cup with both of his palms to look into his own reflection.

"I know Mr. Richard...It's just so different. Even after all these years, I still don't understand...why did she have to be the one to go? It should've been me. You both know what I've done in my life, I don't deserve my title.." With every word the male spoke, his voice had been near a hushed tone as he brought his golden gaze over towards a photo of the woman who was once the original Head Commander, she had been standing behind him when he was still young and at his graduation from his training classes to become a member of the SATU. The sight of it only made Sakamoto clench his cup all that much tighter before loosening it from having the older man place his hand onto his shoulder before starting to make his leave to tend to the other members of the SATU who had just returned from their missions as well, though before stepping out of the doorway he had only looked over his shoulder just to speak his final words before finally leaving. "It's because she saw you as her own son."

Just hearing those words from the man had brought a slight bit of shock to Sakamoto's own eyes for a few moments before he had decided to put the cup back down and go back to his paperwork. This time however, his mind had been a bit more clear; allowing him to be able to work much more at ease and not think so much about the woman's reasoning behind allowing him to live and not to mention take her place. Still in the end, even if with what the man had stated might've been true; it wasn't as though Sakamoto fully understood just yet what it meant to be treated like an actual son or to even know the full definition of 'love', even if he might think he knows.

Rex stared out the window in his office that gave him a view of the training zone. He had chosen this location for his office as it gave him a clear view of the newest recruits training. It also made it easier to write reports and not leaving the trainees unsupervised. He seemed to be waiting for something. He had been here long enough to know that someone, at sometime, was going to screw something up and that he would have to address it. This was going to be a long day.

Thea walked into the space she lived with her father and took off her jacket tossing it onto a chair by the door. She sighed and walked into the living area, her nose immediately scrunched up at the smell of whiskey that filled the room.

"Maggie? Are you home? Baby girl?" Thea watched as her dunk father scrambled out of his chair and turned to look at her. Drunkenly he made his way over to her. Thea flinched as he hands went up to her cheeks. "Honey, you are finally home," Tears began dripping down his face, "I missed you so much Mags." Thea grabbed her fathers hands and removed them from her face.

"It's me Dad. It's Thea, Maggie...she is gone. She has been for a while now." Thea watched as her fathers expression morphed from excitement and love to hatred and anger. His hand that had just a second earlier been grasping her face lovingly, reached out and slapped his daughter hard across her face. Thea gasped as her face jolted. She looked at her father with dry eyes, she had come to expect this.

"You killed her," her father growled, "You should have protected her." Maggie sighed and turned away making her way to the door. This was a common thing for her, but she did not have the energy to deal with it that night. Her father stands there throwing insults at his only living daughter as she walked out the door. She left the small place she refused to call a home and sighed.

Wandering aimlessly Thea made her way through the station halls.

Lapis Corelli
Deep within the station hangars, a SATU ship was docking, the vehicle slowing down as its driver maneuvered the relatively small vessel within the building's depths until it at last came to a complete stop, the airlock shutting behind it with a loud rumble. As the ramp descended to the station walkway, various individuals stepped out, including a tall figure who was clearly a woman clad in a purple battle suit and helmet. Disengaging the locks with a few deft fingers, the figure pulled the helmet off to reveal a Narrisassornian woman with blue skin and crimson eyes, her long orange hair so bright it looked to almost be made of liquid flames as it spilled onto her shoulders.

"Alright everyone." The woman, Lapis Corelli, addressed those under her command. "Today we successfully completed the training mission with a few days to spare. Good work. Now, all of you go home and get some much needed rest. You'll hear from me and a few other SATU officials within a few days about what you need to do next."

"Yes, ma'am." The men and women under her command affirmed with a salute before going their separate ways, one of them tentatively looking back at her for a brief second. Once they were all out of sight or hearing range, Lapis's shoulders slumped as a long sigh escaped her lips. Her head was pounding from just using her foresight once during the mission, on account of one of the trainees being a dumb ass, not paying attention and nearly getting themselves killed in a simple training exercise. She was tired, her throat also aching on account of her yelling so much, and all she wanted to do at the moment was take a nice long shower, since alcohol was off the table.

She began making her way out of the hangars and into the station, heading for her apartment in the market district.

Spending several further minutes in his office just to finish up the rest of his report before even skimming through the reports of some of the other units and how they did on their missions, as usual, nothing really caught Sakamoto's eye to be unusual. So with that, he simply logged off his computer before helping himself up from his seat with a deep exhale. "Okay. I wonder if that ramen shop is still open.." Questioning himself, the dark haired male wasted no time right after to leave his office and begin heading for the elevator that would lead up right up to the upper floors where he could exit out and arrive into the market district. Although Sakamoto might've been the head commander over the SATU, that didn't mean that he was about to be all about business all the time, he still had to eat and he still remembered one of his favorite places to go to even if he stole from there a lot as a kid when he was apart of the gangs from the slums.
Luckily, after the last head commander had taken him in, going to apologize to all the people that he ever stole from was one of the first things on his list that he was to do before he was even allowed to begin any sort of training. So, to this day he has become well known to the owner and employees at a single ramen shop known as One Stop Ramen. Just because he had apologized to those he stole from, his way of speaking still needs improvement to this day.

Just the thought of what he normally ate at the shop had his stomach growling as Sakamoto immediately began to head his way there. The entire time he had walked down the walkways, the sight of how there were plenty of citizens all completely dressed up for the cold weather caught his gaze as well as some even taking their gaze at him and how he wore a simple thin jacket without any hat, scarf or gloves. It was strange but the cold didn't seem to really bother Sakamoto, at least not to this degree of cold weather; it could've been from the serum or possibly the training that he had to do that made this kind of temperature easy to bare with. Whatever it was, he didn't give it too much thought since it barely really even mattered anyway.

Taking only minutes to be able to end up reaching to the ramen shop, the scent of the freshly cooked broth followed by all the different seasonings had him rush his way in just to take his usual seat by the table nearest towards the window that showed a decent view of the park across from the ramen shop. "The usual." That being the only response he had given towards the young female waitress who approached him in a matter of minutes to get his order only to have her quickly turn around and go off to instruct the chefs about what his order was.

Arthur rolled through the hallways in his wheelchair with his beret laying in his lap as he currently considered himself off-duty. He had just visited the medical ward for his weekly medical checkup on both his partial paralyzation and his mental condition which of course showed little change for better or worse but at least he wasn't pulled from active duty yet by his superiors. As he listened to some calmer variant of metal on his ear piece he rolled himself into the Market District. He knew he could easily get one of those automatic wheelchairs like everybody else but he likes the exercise and independence from electronics for getting around outside of his suit. He passed plenty of shops, browsed some wares, chatted with shopkeepers and sometimes people he either knew from the MDS or some rookies from SATU but mostly he was just wandering around without a purpose. He considered his off-time to be pretty boring as he'd pretty much be waiting for either somebody calling him to assist with something back at base or a pal to ping him for drinks or sports. He paused his wandering when he saw Lieutenant Corelli coming from the opposite direction and he waved her hello hoping she would notice him in the crowd. He wasn't fond of aliens too much but his time in SATU and his experience with the lieutenant caused him to have respect for Corelli beyond the respect he was supposed to give her for being higher in rank than him.

As she made her way to her apartment, holding her suit helmet in one of her arms, Lapis took notice of the dozens of people of various races meandering their way throughout the hustle and bustle of the market district. Although the expressions on their faces varied from person to person, species to species, they were all living their lives as much as possible while being stuck on a space station, even while their home planets were probably being assaulted by the Xeloth. Some looked worn from whatever mission or journey they had recently gotten back from or were about to embark upon. Others were smiling, laughing, in general having a good time shopping or hanging out with friends and family. Overall, it was pretty peaceful in the district.

But how long would that last? A frown appeared on Lapis' face as she considered the possibility of another attack by their enemy. It had been years since the first one, and although the station had recovered some, they still had a long way to go. The Restricted Zone was a testament to that.

Lapis's train of thought ended there when she noticed a familiar man in a wheelchair waving at her from in the approaching crowd. Captain Arthur MacGallavan. She briefly considered just nodding a hello because of her pounding headache or just ignoring him entirely, but her training as a good respectable soldier was engraved in her mind. Mustering a small smile, she approached the man, holding out a hand for him to shake. "Captain, good to see you. You're looking well."

Based on past experience, she knew he wasn't a big fan of aliens despite his rather relaxed nature off duty, but it wasn't like Lapis didn't know where he was coming from. A part of her hoped their conversation wouldn't be too long; besides the pain in her head, she was still in her battle suit, which needed cleaned...badly.

Arthur shook Corelli's hand just right when she held out her hand for him, firm but not too firm. He liked the difference in size between him and Corelli, out in the field he towers more than a head above her but when he's in his wheelchair they're more on eye-level with each other and he found it to help with keeping a casual vibe off-duty. He couldn't help but feel a bit underdressed in his casual clothing compared to Corelli in her battle suit.

"It's good to see you as well Lieutenant." He said with a warm smile. "I'm feeling well all things considering, I can actually wiggle my toes today without help." He said the last bit with a chuckle and pulled his wheelchair alongside her. "Do you mind if I tag along for a bit Corelli?" He then asked. He was planning to ask if she wanted to grab a bite and hang out with whomever else was off-duty at the moment but he first wanted to check what mood she was in.
