This world is pretty similar to beastars except everyone is person sized and bugs and humans do exist as people. It takes place in a city called Unity city (founded just at the end of segregation). Segregation between taxonomic groups just ended 20 years ago and tension between species is high. Humans and other great apes run the political scene and it is pretty corrupt. Lab grown meat has taken over the food market and While killing and possessing real meat is a crime, eating real meat is not. There is a black market for that kind of thing. Species like cattle were "domesticated" and enslaved and used as food product but slavery ended ten years before segregation ended, Now they ironically dominate the fast food market, so most food workers will be cattle. Dogs exist and were a product of war. Racial (species) stereotypes are at an all time high and gangs of specific species have risen. Feel free to suggest more to the world building. THE CITY TAKES PLACE IN AMERICA.
