Realistic or Modern Anchored for Love

"Stop apologizing, it's okay," Dawson replied, taking his seat across from the lovely woman he could now spend the rest of his life with. He made her a promise when he left that he would fight for her and do his very best to come back from such a horrific place unscathed. "We'll figure it out together, there's no reason to stress about it. I didn't expect you to do everything on your own. Tell me what has been going on. What's this I hear about you being the only journalist?" Dawson asked in a curious expression ordering a water to frin. Dawson hadn't heard much about Jayden and Amelia in the letters he and Isabel wrote back and forth to each other and Dawson noticed Amelia too had changed and he wasn't sure if it was for a good reason. He worried about her, he didn't want the life she was building with Jayden to turn her into someone she didn't recognize. "Is Amelia okay?" Thinking about it, Dawson wondered if that was why Isabel was so upset. Had the changes between the two of them draw them into a disagreement Dawson had yet to hear about? Suddenly, the naval pilot was nervous to find out. Was the interaction he just witnessed between them a perfected act to not make him suspicious.

Sighing softly at Dawson's questions, Isabel knew she couldn't be upset with Amelia for working where she is. She was doing what was best for her family and Isabel supported that wholeheartedly. "She's doing good, promise. The only thing that's changed is the fact that Jayden is no longer a member of the force. After one of his check ups, his doctor broke the news to him. He wasn't going to be able to get cleared. He can't do what he used to do and it really broke him but he's going back to school full-time now. Both him and Amelia. They're both getting their master's so that means Jayden is adding more on to his business degree. For now, Amelia is carrying the family by herself financially, and left the journalistic world for now. She works as a PR at a hospital in Chicago." She explained softly, ordering herself a glass of wine because she desperately needed it in that moment. "It's upsetting Amelia isn't a journalist right now but she's going to come back after she gets her Master's so that's okay. You've also missed a lot in our nieces life! I made sure to show her a substantial amount of pictures with you in them so she can have your face etched in her mind. She's super excited to meet you." The journalist added with a playful grin, sipping her merlot as it relaxed her. "That's all you've missed. I took on a lot of assignments so I wasn't at the house much. Brett took care of Piper for us. Plus, I rode Sicily a few times. I hope ya don't mind."

"That's all? That sounds like a lot to me." Looking to Isabel, Dawson tried to comprehend the reconstruction of Amelia and Jayden's relationship. "I bet your mini is just adorable," Grinning, Dawson laughed at Isabel's proud nod. "She has amazing parents, but Amelia didn't sound happy in the brief moment I had to talk to her," Dawson nodded, sipping his water, realizing just how thirsty he was. "I saw you rode him. It's a good thing he was good to you, otherwise, he would be a goner." Winking, Dawson ordered his usual ravioli. He was happy to be home. "When do you leave for your next assigment?"

Ordering chicken parm to mix things up, Isabel smiled gently at Dawson’s question, sighing softly. “I leave in two weeks which isn’t enough time to make up for the time you were gone.” She said gently, taking his hands in hers before she smiled gently. “But it’s okay. We’ll make up for it. I’m going to Seattle for this assignment so I’ll be pretty far.” She said with a smile, sighing softly as she looked at her fiancé with such a loving expression. There was a lot going on in her head she didn’t know about. Recently, her camera lens fogged and now moisture was trapped inside it and she was waiting for it to get fixed. She also felt horrible she hadn’t planned much for the wedding. Miranda and her comments weren’t helping any, plus Isabel was being visited by Mother Nature. She wasn’t in the best state of mind or in the best connection with her emotions and she was trying so hard to keep it all locked in a box so Dawson wouldn’t notice.

Despite her attempt to hide her emotions, Dawson saw through her facade, but again didn't press it, knowing she would come around to eventually. If anything he felt bad for not warning her of his return, it seemed to only add to her overthinking in things she should have done before he was sent home. In an effort to distract her, Dawson made small talk about Sicily and the farm, eventually, she showed the pilot pictures of their niece and she was still a definite spitting image of her mother. Dawson was excited to get to see her again now that she would know who he was. He asked her which recent assignment was her favorite and asked to see the pictures. By the end of their dinner, Dawson only hoped she was in somewhat of a better mood in the least. When they arrived home Dawson knew she would be happy to see what he left for her here. To try and make up for all the lost gestures during their time apart, on the dining room table was a bouquet of her favorite flowers, and after hearing from Amelia about the journalist's camera lens Dawson made the effort to not only replace the lens but gifted her a whole new body to go with the lens as well. As much as Dawson knew, Isabel wasn't one for the materialistic gestures, he wanted her to have it. Especially now that he knew she was stressing about too many things. Leading her inside, Dawson took her hand and opened the door, flower petals leading to the gift he wrapped perfectly. Watching her expression, he just shrugged when she asked what he was up to. "Go find out," he replied, kissing her cheek.

Isabel was at a loss as to what was going on. She knew Dawson was just trying to make up for lost gestures and she didn't mind but eyeing the flower petal trail, she knew he was up to something. Listening to him, she followed the trail to the table, smiling when she saw the bouquet of flowers. They were beautiful and she adored them but when she spotted the wrapped box, her curiosity was piqued. Smiling as she walked closer, she began to unwrap the box and gasped when she saw what it was. "Dawson Covington!" She exclaimed, looking back at him before she ran over and hugged him close. "You really didn't have to do that. Mine is getting fixed right now." She whispered softly, kissing him lovingly. "You are the best man ever. I feel bad. I know she cost you a decent amount of money."

"Amor, you could have just left it at you're best man ever. There's no need to feel bad, I want you to have it. The cost doesn't matter." Kissing her softly, he looked down at her when they pulled away. "Do you like it or should we go get a different one? I wanted you to have something different but I hope I didn't go too far out of the box. I'm still learning about the cameras, buying a jet is easier, I swear," he teased. At first he was worried he would make a wrong purchase, but after seeing Isabel's expression he knew he must have not been completely wrong in the one he picked out for her. It seemed like a huge risk, but it was one he was willing to take to see that smile on her face after being apart for so long.

"No, I promise the one you bought is perfect. It's a Nikon and the more I mess around with it, the more I'll get used to it. It's a beautiful camera and I'm proud of you. I don't think buying a jet is easier then buying a camera, though." She said with a bright smile, kissing him lovingly once more before she opened the box and took the camera out, quickly messing around with the shutter speed and focus settings, soon after placing the lens on it, smiling contently as she got it where she wanted it. "Smile, amor." She said with a bright smile, facing the camera towards her fiancé to snap a quick headshot. She was quick to look at it and nodded. "I enjoy these settings.' She said brightly, setting the camera back on the table before she kissed Dawson again. "I don't want to leave in two weeks." She said with a sigh.

“It’s too late for that, love but I promise I’ll be here when you get back. It’s something you’ll have to get used to again and I hope all my t-shirts are where I left them.” Giving her a daunting glare, Dawson stood up from the couch going to investigate the contents of his drawers. He wanted out of his uniform anyway. “What am I going to find in here?” He called out to his fiancée as he made his way into their bedroom, curious to know what exactly he would find. He half heartedly knew better than to think Isabel wouldn’t change a single thing while he was away, not that he minded, but he was uncertain of how big of a change he was prepared for.

Isabel laughed softly as she watched him walk to their room, following after him happily as she threw herself on the bed. “What you won’t find is your T-shirts because I wore them a lot and haven’t done laundry.” She said with a wide grin, throwing on one of his long sleeve tees while he wasn’t looking then laid back down. “After you change, lay with me. I miss laying next to you.” She said, watching him changing while biting her lip, blushing when he caught her in the act. “Stoppp!” She whined, turning so she hid her face in the pillow like she used to when they first started dating. She was teasing and she loved doing so. Tonight was going to be the first time with Dawson back again and she didn’t mind having to get used to him being home all the time again. In fact, she embraced it. That’s all she wanted when he was off in the war zone. “Your body looks better than before you left.” She said seductively, looking back at him and kissed him gently.

Here we go:

When Amelia left Isabel, she had to keep herself from crying because she didn’t want to leave. She was too afraid to leave. She was too afraid to admit to Isabel what she was going through, not when she already had some much going on in her own life. Truthfully, her daughter was under the care of her mother while she went to work in New Orleans because Jayden went to D.C. to go to Nick’s bachelor party and Amelia didn’t trust. Chris to watch Isabel anymore. After his girlfriend broke up with him a few months earlier, he came to Amelia for consoling, and at first, Amelia thought no harm would come of it, until one day, Chris got too gone in his pathetic sorrow and forced himself onto Amelia. She didn’t know what to do or say, considering Chris was Jayden’s beloved younger brother. She hoped that it would only be a one time thing, something that she could keep to herself, but it turned out Chris decided to make his “coping sessions” more frequent. Not wanting to get caught by his brother, Chris f found his way into Amelia’s office at work when no one else was around. Amelia hated it. The first few times she tried to fight him off but given her past, she became too afraid to resist when Chris got in her face. She wanted to tell Jayden, even pleased Chris to confess to Jayden what he had done, but of course he wouldn’t. Now it just made her anxious for whenever Jayden left her alone, she knew it was only a matter of time before the whole thing blew up, she was just too afraid of what Chris would do if she told Jayden. It was wrong, she knew that, to keep such a dark secret for so long but she felt trapped. Looking down at her phone, she sighed when she saw a text from Jayden, but as usual was quick to respond in between her conference sessions. It seemed routine now, to pretend like everything was fine, but she really wished it wasn’t. The only thing that worried her was the bruise on her cheek. She knew when she went home tomorrow he would notice it if she didn’t hide it well enough.

The following day, after picking up their daughter from her mom’s hotel room, Amelia picked up a pizza for dinner and agreed to meet Jayden at home. When she got home however, she froze when she saw Jayden invited Chris over. She didn’t want to be near him. Setting Isabel down to say hello to her father, Amelia walked into the kitchen and started playing everyone’s food, pretending like Chris wasn’t there. As she cut up her daughters food into tiny pieces, she had to bite her cheek to keep from crying. This was becoming too much to bear.

Jayden had brought Chris over because they hadn’t seen each other much and Jayden was hoping his little brother was doing well. He knew the break up with his ex girlfriend was really rough on Chris, but what he didn’t know is how Chris forced himself on Amelia several times. Smiling when Amelia walked in, he said hello, becoming curious when she was quick to ignore him and set Isabel down. Jayden knew something was wrong. Looking at his daughter, Jayden smiled when she ran over to him, saying her hellos. “Hi love bug, did you behave for grandma?” Jayden asked her softly, kissing her cheeks repeatedly, chuckling at her giggles and pleases for him to stop. Letting her go run upstairs for a coloring book, Jayden looked at Chris who seemed lost in thought. “I’ll be right back.” Jayden said, standing up and walking to the kitchen where he smiled at his girlfriend plating their food. Hugging her from behind, he kissed her neck gently, smiling softly. “Let me help.” He said but pulled away quickly when he felt Amelia jerk and tense up. I’m the moment, Jayden felt as though he did something wrong and immediately felt terrible about it. “What’s wrong?” He asked Amelia softly, getting a closer look at her face, becoming angry when he saw the bruise. “What happened?” He asked quickly, opening the freezer to pull out an ice pack, wrapping it in paper towels and set it against Amelia’s cheek. When Amelia pulled away from his touch, Jayden sighed. “Amelia, please tell me what’s wrong.” He needed to know because not knowing was going to kill him inside. He felt his whole world crumbling down as she brushed everything off and set the plates on the table. Jayden screwed up somehow. Sighing, he stood where she left him, getting his phone and texted Isabel asking if she knew if something was wrong to which the photojournalist responsed saying no but that Dawson felt like something did.

Nothing clicked for Jayden as to what could be the problem until he saw Chris walk over to the table Amelia was setting up. Seeing how tense she got made Jayden curious and Chris was being awfully friendly. Grabbing Chris’s wrist when he raised his hand, Jayden gave him a glare that said for him to leave Amelia alone. He didn’t know what was going on between the two but he did know Amelia didn’t want to be anywhere near him. “I think it’s time you leave, Chris.” Jayden said gently, escorting the man out before he walked back inside and looked at Amelia. Taking her into a hug, he didn’t let go. He wasn’t going to because he didn’t know what was going on and by the way his brother and girlfriend were acting with one another, it seemed to Jayden they did something and he didn’t want to know what. “Amelia.” He said softly, trying to get her out of her thoughts, kissing her gently. “What happened.” He asked again, but said it more like a statement. She didn’t have an option anymore. Jayden needed to know what happened between his brother and her.

When Jayden picked up on things that Amelia could usually keep to herself she cursed to herself. Shit. Here we go. Whenever Jayden approached her, she tried not to make a big deal about it but with Chris here she was naturally on edge. Sighing when Jayden escorted him out she felt an overwhelming relief wash over her. She knew Chris wouldn't try to do anything with his brother being present, but Amelia couldn't even look at Christopher without feeling ashamed of herself and she hated whenever he was near her daughter but she couldn't say anything because it would raise suspicion. It was too late for that now. When Jayden returned and took Amelia into a hug, she just held onto him, lifting her head up when she heard Bel make her way back down the stairs with her coloring book and crayons in hand. This wasn't a conversation to have with their daughter present and Amelia knew as soon as Jayden knew the truth all hell would break loose. Smiling at their daughter, she picked her up. "Hi princess," Kissing her cheek, Amelia felt her heart melt into her chest when Bel wrapped an arm around her. Taking the coloring book she set it on the counter. "We can color after we eat okay? Does watching a movie while you eat sound fun?" Amelia asked, running her fingers through her daughter's brunette hair while she carried her and her plate of cut up pizza into the living room. Letting her sit on a blanket, Amelia helped her pick a movie before Chloe came to lay beside her. Once the toddler was content Amelia walked back over to Jayden with an anxious expression. She couldn't bring herself to tell him what he needed to know. She didn't want to admit what happened because that meant she couldn't ignore it as being her reality anymore. Taking his hand, she led Jayden to their room and closed the door behind her. "I'm going to be honest with you, but please don't get angry in front of Bel, please." Amelia pleaded, the tears just now leaving her eyes now. She couldn't even look Jayden in the face to tell him what was wrong. "Ever since Taylor left Chris, he's been coming to me.... At first I thought it was harmless, but then he started drinking," Feeling her hands tremble, the once strong woman struggled to catch a breath. She really didn't want to admit this. How do you tell the man that you wanted to spend the rest of your natural life with that his younger brother, the only family he ever really had until recently, was a sexual preditor, and was preying on you? She tried to put it as gentle as possible because even in this situation, Amelia cared more for Jayden's feelings than her own. "He started drinking and following me into work where he forced me to be intimate with him, more than once." The tears now completely streamed down her face. "I can't do it anymore, Jayden. I know he's your brother, but he scares me," Amelia admitted helplessly.

Hearing what Amelia said made everything stop in Jayden’s mind. He was infuriated and he felt his blood levels rising. He was more than infuriated and words couldn’t describe just how angry he was. Not with Amelia because this wasn’t her fault, but with Chris. The only family he had until their sister found them abused the woman Jayden planned to spend the rest of his life with. The mother to his child. This wasn’t okay. Jayden couldn’t control the anger that pulsated through him. Releasing a deep sigh to ensure he was breathing, he looked down at Amelia and took her into a tight hug, reassuring her it was all going to be alright. “I’m sorry, love. I’m really sorry this has been happening but it won’t anymore. I promise.” He whispered gently, giving her a squeeze. “You’re safe. He isn’t going to come anywhere near you ever again.” Those words were a promise and after he pulled away, he went downstairs and smiled at his daughter who looked at him curiously. “Where are you going, daddy?” She asked Jayden innocently and Jayden smiled as he kissed her cheek. “I’ll be right back love bug.” He said gently, knowing what he was going to do. He walked to Chris’ house, opened the door and the minute Chris was in view, went for a straight shot at his jaw, hearing the crunch which meant it broke. “You bastard!” He exclaimed. He knew Amelia didn’t want him getting angry with their daughter around but Jayden couldn’t look at Chris the same. He wasn’t family anymore. He was a piece of trash that Jayden needed to get rid of. “Don’t act like you did nothing wrong, Christopher. You have no right to do anything you did to my wife! It stops now and you’re going to regret you ever touched her in the first place!” Jayden exclaimed, kicking his younger brother against the closest wall, hitting his face again as blood now covered his shirt and Jaydens hand. “You’re a pathetic excuse for a human, ya know that? Who the fuck sexually abuses a woman not once, not twice, but multiple times?! And let alone knowing the woman is your brothers girlfriend and soon to be wife?!” He exclaimed once more, punching Chris in the stomach. Jayden didn’t stop until he heard a scream. It was their sister but Jayden didn’t care. With Chris now on the floor, Jayden kicked his side, stopping when he felt arms wrap around him. “Don’t ever come near my family again, Christopher! You’re no longer my brother and don’t you ever try and get near Amelia! The minute you do you’ll regret it!”

"Jayden calm down!" Sarah exclaimed wrapping her arms around him, prying him from their younger brother who was now pulsating blood on the floor. The scene looked like a war had just taken place and in a way it had. It was obvious who was victorious. "What happened?" Sarah asked, in a panic afraid Jayden would turn his rage onto her while she reached for the phone to call an ambulance. Their sister was completely clueless about what just happened. Stepping away from Jayden, she walked over to Chris and did her best to stop his profuse bleeding. "What in the hell is wrong with you? If I didn't walk in you would have killed him, Jayden!" Choas had ensued as Sarah was trying desperately to get Chris to breathe. When Jayden tried to leave Sarah screamed for him to stay. "Don't. move." she threatened seeing his bloody, still trembling hands, the anger making him almost vibrate.

A few minutes later, sirens where heard coming down the street and by that time Amelia knew something horrible had happened. Shooting up from the couch, she looked out the window and panicked when she watched two officers walk in the house across the street, followed by EMT's and a stretcher/ By the time she was able to pick up her phone to call anyone, her mind went blank when she watched the same two officers walk out with Jayden in handcuffs. With adrenaline now running through her, she tried to remain calm for her daughter's sake. Picking her up, Amelia pulled her away from the window and ran up to the toddler's room where Chloe followed behind. When she could finally think what do she called her best friend for her daughter to talk to. When she kept asking her mom if she was okay, Amelia just smiled through her tears unable to hold them back now. "I'm fine, love, just be good and talk to your aunt, okay? I'll be right back. Stay here."

Watching her mother leave in distress of course, only panicked the toddler and by the time she heard someone answer the phone, she was crying. She was only two but was rather smart for her age and could tell something was seriously wrong and she didn't like being left alone.

Jayden didn’t care that he was now in handcuffs, being escorted to the police car. When he saw Amelia run out of the house, he sighed and shook his head. He was upset with himself for taking it this far but he had every right to beat the living shit out of his brother. When Amelia ran over to him, Jayden sighed as he looked at her with a softened expression. “Sorry.” He whispered gently, he couldn’t control his anger and when the officers asked what exactly happened, Jayden bit his lip. He knew Sarah was beyond infuriated with Jayden but he didn’t care. He really didn’t. Chris needed to learn what would happen if he ever came near Amelia again. While the officers tried to get the story piece by piece, Jayden sat in the car, his head against the window as so many emotions ran through him.

Sarah was at a loss on what to say. Knowing the full story, she finally understood why Jayden was so angry. She was angry herself but she couldn’t get the image of Chris almost dying out of her head. Looking at Amelia, Sarah walked over and took her into a hug. “I’m sorry.” Was all she could say and when she pulled away, she looked at Jayden who was off in his thoughts. “I didn’t know what happened.” She added, noticing the same bruise Jayden had only minutes before. “Where’s Bel? She’s probably afraid. I’ll watch her.” She said softly, not knowing what else to say to console her brothers whole world.

When Isabel answered her phone and heard crying, she was at a loss on what could be happening. Looking at the caller ID once more, she knew who it was crying. “Baby girl, it’s your aunt. What’s wrong? Talk to me.” Isabel said, worried now about what could possibly be wrong. When the little girl began to huff and puff, Isabel was super worried. “Bel, baby I’m here. Talk to me. Breathe for auntie please.”

“Mommy and daddy gone,” Bel explained to the best of her flustered ability, but when she saw her Aunt Sarah walk in the room she willing passed off the phone, climbing into Sarah’s lap trying to catch a breathe while Sarah tried to piece together who her niece was talking to. Taking the phone, she rubbed her back gently, realizing it was Isabel. Sarah didn’t feel it was her place to coney what had happened, but she knew given the chaos of the situation, Isabel needed to know. Once her nice was calmed down, she walked down the stairs with her and offered her more pizza before she told Isabel what happened once her mini was back to watching a movie. “Jayden found out what Chris did to Amelia and beat the shit out of him and now the officers are trying to piece together what happened, but because of how bad he hurt Chris, I’m sure he’ll be on the opposite side of a cell tonight.” When Isabel asked what Jayden found out she shuttered. “She’s your best friend, I don’t want to do that to you.” When the journalist insisted again Sarah gave in. “Chris has been sexually abusing Amelia for awhile. Today when she came home Jayden saw the bruise on her cheek from the last time she tried to fight Chris off and she just broke down I guess and told him everything so Jayden nearly almost killed him not even ten minutes later. If I didn’t stop him when I did, I don’t think Chris would have made it. He’s in pretty bad shape.”

Listening to everything Sarah had to say, Isabel sighed softly as she shook her head, pinching the bridge of her nose as she contemplated what to do. “Okay.” She said simply, looking up at Dawson when he walked into their room. “Thank you for telling me, Sarah. Please keep me updated since Amelia doesn’t have her phone.” After hanging up, that’s all she said. She didn’t want to tell Dawson about it but she had to. “Amelia has been sexually abused for awhile now.” She said, anger boiling within her. She didn’t care if Chris was in bad shape. He deserved it and would regret ever touching Amelia if she ever saw him. “I need to go to her. I can’t just stay here and do nothing. Jayden beat the shit out of Chris after Amelia told him and Chris is pretty beat up. Sarah said if she didn’t pull them apart Chris might be dead. Since Jayden beat him that bad, he is more then likely going to spend the night behind bars. I need to go but I shouldn’t.” She said with a sigh, her hands forming fists.

Walking into the room, Dawson stopped in his tracks when he saw the expression on Isabel's face. Waiting anxiously for her to hang up the phone, the pilot clenched his own fists out of instinct, seeing the anger fume off of Bel. "What's wrong?" he asked, only becoming agitated by the silence before Isabel finally confessed what Dawson was afraid when he saw Amelia. She was hurt. At first, Dawson couldn't comprehend just how severely until he saw Isabel start to cry at what she was told. "I don't blame, Jayden. I would do the same damn thing, except I probably would have killed him faster," Dawson's anger known through his tone. Who in the hell would ever even lay a hand on Amelia? She was one of the purest human beings Dawson ever met and knowing Jayden's brother completely destroyed her in the deepest depth of her core hurt Dawson so much it only festered his anger. "If he would have beat his ass in Texas he probably would have gotten away with it. Did you talk to Amelia? Do we need to go over there? I know she doesn't have anyone over there and the people she does she probably doesn't want to speak to now. What can we do to help? I can go finish that piece of shit off for Jayden, gladly." Now that Dawson knew what was troubling Amelia, he wished he would have been able to pick up on it when she was with them because he would have refused to let her go home and made Jayden come to get her. "Are you okay?" Dawson asked, going to take Isabel into a hug. He knew she was probably taking this news personally since she seemed to think Amelia was okay up until this point. As Dawson held Isabel he kissed her head, shuttering a deep sigh. "This isn't your fault, Bel. Amelia isn't blaming you and you know that so don't think you could have stopped this because you had no way of knowing unless Amelia told you and even then it would have been too late to prevent it because it would have already happened. She's going to be okay now, Jayden's going to take care of it."

Releasing a heavy sigh once in Dawson’s arms, Isabel nodded at what he said before she curled against him, continuing to cry softly against his chest as her mind did what it was best at. It was pestering her, filling her with all sorts of negative comments and Isabel couldn’t handle it. She was wrecked over this. Amelia didn’t deserve to be abused in such a manner and Isabel wish she hadn’t been so oblivious and spotted the sign before it was too late. Not being able to catch her breathe, Isabel curled into a tighter ball, refusing to move when Dawson tried to get her to layout and take her inhaler. She didn’t want to do anything. She should’ve kept Amelia here. “We have to go to her.” Isabel said between the tears. “She needs us and so does Jayden. Bel as well. She was crying so much on the phone.” She whispered, looking at Dawson when he cupped her face. “I’ll be alright. I’m just a mess right now. I can’t believe I didn’t see it. Jayden has it under control but we still need to go.” She whispered softly, hugging Dawson close. “I’ll book us plane tickets if you aren’t up for flying.”

"We'll go but not until you calmw down first," Dawson replied, attempting to hand her the inhaler again. "I know this is heard, but they'll all be okay." Kissing her head, Dawson wiped the tears from her cheeks, rubbing her back gently in reassurance. Once she started to catch her breathe, Dawson stood up and started to gather their things for another spontaneous trip.

After getting the whole story, the officers took Jayden into the station, not because they sided with Chris, but because it was protocol until they got word on Chris's condition and Chris could decide for himself if he wanted to press charges against his older brother. The officers reassured Jayden though that the odds were in his favor given the nature of the situation. A grand jury would have empathy for a man who brutally beat someone to defend the woman he loved after she was treated so inhumanely for so long. While Jayden was taken to the station, though, the officers sent Amelia with the medics so she could be treated properly for the injuries she had, but mostly for documentation purposes to file a case against Chris. Amelia didn't want to go because she didn't want to be humiliated or alone but she knew she had to cooperate to keep anything like what she had been experiencing from happening again so she agreed. Letting Sarah watch Bel, Amelia now stood in a private exam room while an investigator took photos of all her physical injuries while she stood there, vulnerable in a hospital gown. She tried not to think too hard on why she was here, biting her cheek, distracting herself with self-inflicted pain. The distraction didn't work, however, because every time she heard the shutter of the camera she cringed.

Being able to compose herself, Isabel sighed softly as she looked at her fiancé and nodded. “Okay. I’m better. Let’s get going. We need to go.” She said, taking her inhaler like Dawson had asked her to, going to the mirror and making it seem like she wasn’t even crying. “I’ll finish packing. You get the flight ready.” She said softly, becoming lost in her thoughts as she finished packing the essentials they needed. The voices didn’t stop until she felt Dawson’s hands on her arm. “I’m okay. Are we taking your jet or flying normally?” She asked him gently, zipping up their bags. She needed to go to Amelia.

All Jayden could think of was while he was behind bars was Amelia and what she was going through. She didn’t deserve to anything that happen to her and thinking about everything made Jayden became angry once more. Calming himself down, Jayden sighed as he rubbed his face. If Chris was smart, he wouldn’t press charges because if he did, he wouldn’t win and would be a waste of everyone’s time. He also hoped Chris knew to never come near his family again. He also hoped his daughter was doing okay with her aunt. He knew he shouldn’t have let himself lose it as fast as he did but he couldn’t stop himself. Sighing gently, he clenched his hands into fists. He wanted to get out of this cell so he can be with his daughter and the love of his life. He wanted to make sure they were safe from all harm and Jayden felt as though he failed at the with Amelia.

"Taking the jet is flying normally," Dawson replied with a chuckle. "Let's go." Leading her out, Dawson flew them to Chicago in record time. Dawson was worried though that coming unannounced would spark tension that did not need to be added to the already festering chaos. "Alright where are we going first?" Dawson asked curiously. He wanted to help but given the situation, he wasn't sure what he and Isabel could do but he knew Isabel wanted to be here and he knew better than to deny her that after she walked out on him when he tried to stop her before.

Isabel sighed as they arrived to Chicago in record time. Looking around at the scenery, she looked at Dawson while holding his hand. “Let’s go to their house. My mini me is with Sarah and I want to see her. She was so upset when she called me. I need to hold her and make sure she’s okay. Then I need to get to Amelia. She has to be at home and if not then she’s still at the hospital. I’ll text her right now.” She added, sighing gently as she bit her lip and grabbed her phone. Opening the text thread she was quick to text Amelia.

“I hope I don’t add anymore stress but I’m here in Chicago. I’m going to the house to check up on Bel. Where are you?”

Walking with Dawson to their rental vehicle, Isabel sat in the passenger seat as she stared out the window. Her leg shook as she began to become anxious. The minute they pulled up to the house, she got out of the car quickly, running into the house calling out for Isabel. Hearing feet patter down the stairs and across the living room, Isabel gasped as she saw her niece, picking her up and twirling her. “Hi, my love. Say hi to Uncle Dawson for me?” She asked her with a smile, watching her reach out to hug her uncle close. “Wuncle Dwason!” She said excitedly. “You home!!” She added.

Following behind, Dawson watched his fiancée run for her niece. Something about the whole scene made him picture her as a mother and brought him a sense of comfort to know he ended up with such a nuturing mother. Seeing his niece, Dawson admired how big she had gotten since the last time he saw her, taking her from Isabel, Dawson kissed her cheek. “Hi sweetie, you gotten so big!” Dawson exclaimed in a wide and bright expression. Chuckling at the toddler, Dawson looked up to Sarah when she made her way down the stairs. Dawson wasn’t sure why, but he had the immediate reaction to feel hostile towards this woman though he never met her, just because she was related to Chris and seemed to have sympathy for him. Keeping Isabel close to him, he reached into his pocket and handed her a cookie with colorful icing he picked up at one of the stores in the airport. It was late, but given the trauma she experienced Dawson knew Amelia wouldn’t care. “I brought you something, I heard your just like your mommy and love chocolate. Do you want to share this really chocolates cookie with me?”
