End All Life; Embrace Silence
You wake up in an unfamiliar setting, your head feels foggy, and you cannot remember anything about how you got here. Around you is a ruined cityscape, once proud structures of steel and glass shatter, blown apart or crumbling. An eternal storm pummels those below, either freezing rains, lightning storms or hurricanes. All plant life is dead, and rusted and burnt out cars litter the streets. Upon first glance, this cityscape seems abandoned by all but yourself. But that is not true. Danger lurks everywhere. Zombies shuffle around aimlessly, searching for prey or captivated by shiny objects. Eerie howls carry on the wind at night, causing your blood to freeze in your veins from terror.
When you woke up, you discover a small piece of grubby paper near you with your name on it. The paper has this brief message for you:
"Welcome to Hell. Yes, Hell. The final resting place of the Damned and Forsaken.
Oh no, golly, you aren't dead. You are very much alive!
You have been chosen to participate in a gauntlet for survival.
Others such as yourself have been chosen to participate, same as yourself.
The goal, to escape alive. Can you do it?
If you die, you will remain here forever more.
There are Thirteen Layers too Hell, each more terrible in than the last.
You are currently on the first layer, which reflects the future of humanity itself.
The exit is in the final layer.
Good luck and a horrible agonizing end to you!"
So there you have it. You are alive, but in Hell. If you die, you will be trapped here forever. Also, Hell is a place for souls, and humans have no business being here. So the effects of Hell will be worse on you. Slowly the effects will corrupt you, either mentally, spiritually, or physically. If any form of corruption becomes complete, you also will be trapped here for eternity. But it wouldn't be sporting to watch if we didn't give you a chance to succeed. Each of you have been granted supernatural abilities. What those are depends on your own soul, and up to you to discover. Hopefully before you're eaten alive or torn limb from limb by Zombies or werewolves, the first threats you will face.
Oh, as a fun twist. If you kill a fellow competitor, you will gain their powers.
