In the year 2150, after more than a decade of tests, experiments and evaluations, the Pandora, equipped with the experimental hyperdrive completed the first manned faster-than-light jump to a distant star system. When it arrived in the Alpha Centauri system, over 4.3 light years away, humanity manifesting its destiny among the stars was no longer a distant dream, nor a pure product of fiction. Such achievement ignited an intense flame of enthusiasm for space exploration, one that burned with such vigor that it drove mankind towards a completely new chapter altogether. Within decades, pointless squabbles out of territories, wealth or pure hatred seemingly ceased as children of Earth banded together and headed towards the final frontier of the stars, and its countless opportunities. Things really seemed as if they could only improve from then.

Slowly but surely, mankind planted its roots in alien soils. Space colonisation was a booming business that seemed to bring immense wealth to some, and opportunities to others. As a result, human colonies and settlements sprung to life seemingly overnight. Trades flourished while cohesive cooperation helped addressing resources, population and pollution issues of Mother Earth, transforming the human homeworld into a real life garden of Eden, something that always seemed so out of reach, while humans learned their newfound strength in each others.

It is the year 2270. And much had changed.

The United Earth Pact has grown complacent and corrupt, while rapid growth and expansion of human colonies didn't help the administration either. Generation after generation of political malpractice and exploitation has left most of mankind in economical ruin, while the favoured upper classes masquerade their riches with the veil of state propaganda. Lower class citizens live in squalor, as bureaucratic incompetence makes space travel unbearably lengthy, with even the simple license applications for space travel taking a few years on average to process. The Golden Age of Man seemed to be a relic of the distant past.

The outer rim colonies had it the worst: with such a stringent space travel policy, and an almost non-existent welfare system in place, these backwater worlds receive little to no external help, and must fend for themselves against everything that their world, and their government, can throw at them. Most didn’t survive the harsh life cycle, and many an abandoned colony lay on the surfaces of forgotten worlds.

Those that survived, weren’t that better off.

A few odd years ago, the UEP’s forces had allegedly made contact with another species. The news of extraterrestrials coming into allegedly violent contact with humanity has sent shockwaves throughout the Pact’s territories, and by the powers invested within its crapulent head of state, the outer rim colonies had been ceded to the invading species, known as the Vantt. And so, with the advent of the new year, powerful alien warships swarmed the colonists’ pocket of space, seizing police stations, military bases, gun ranges, excavation sites, hospitals, factory complexes, power facilities,... The United Earth Pact Navy had withdrawn from the area entirely, setting up a blockade between colony space and the rest of humanity’s territories, and all flights in and out of the outer rim have been indefinitely grounded.

The outer rim colonies didn’t have a say in this.

A hell of a lot of them did have something to say about this, but no one seemed to listen. They were up against an uncaring alien race that seemed only intent on stripping them of their livelihoods and resources, before most likely exterminating them as well. The government that had taxed them so heavily, beaten them so mercilessly, had abandoned them in their time of need, and thrown them to the wolves as a sacrifice from the sheep.

It is time for a rebellion.

Notes: Hey guys! I bring to you a little project I've been working on with a few friends of mine for some time now. This is a sci-fi interstellar rebellion RP, where we'll be fighting against an oppressive alien regime that's taking over our colonies, with no support or aid from the human government. The players will be given a wide range of freedom with gear and weaponry, seeing as we're a unofficial civilian rebellion, and anything goes, as long as it fits in with the lore and isn't too OP. Expect a lot of raids, sabotaging, and plotting against both alien invaders, and potential spies and defectors, or even extremist revolutionaries amidst our ranks. Have fun :) )

We accept contributions to the project, as long as it fits the lore. If you have any questions, ask me and Kabboom Kabboom :D
