CYRUS XAVIER MCCALL
  • BASICS
    Look straight into my eyes
    NAME....cyrus xavier mccall
    AGE.....twenty-one (21)
    GENDER..identifies as male
    APPEARANCE
and tell me everything about yourself
    HAIR COLOR..blonde
    EYE COLOR...cyan
    HEIGHT..5'9" / 1.75 m
    WEIGHT..141 lbs / 64 kg

Cyrus is comfortable in his rather gender-neutral appearance, unfazed should one mistake him for the wrong gender. He tends to wear androgynous outfits, typically in his trademark black and white. It's rare to see him in non-neutral colors, and if he is, it's an accent rather than a statement.
    PERSONALITY
I shall give it water ever so quietly
Strangers and acquaintances will oft describe the blond as a cool and aloof persona, his answers monosyllabic and sighs frequently the ending punctuation. The truth is much sadder than that: Cyrus is simply an undernourished and sleep-deprived individual. Many of his fellow art and design majors only see the responsible student who's one of the few to submit their work on a consistent basis. They don't see him cramming at 4AM day of submission, churning out content at the speed of light simply because he'd forgotten about it. The reason? His time and attention were previously occupied by a game of his choice.

He's not the most responsible young adult out there, a product of being born with a silver spoon in his mouth. This extends past his academic duties, namely monetarial matters. Cyrus is still financially dependent on his parents, his rent and utilities paid for in addition to a monthly allowance for food and other fees. He learnt the hard way not spend the latter on his frivolities. Thankfully, living alone has taught him some common sense, and now he only goes hungry during the last few days before allowance or pay day.

It wouldn't be a surprise to find out that he loses most of his money in two things: art supplies and games. The blond only wants the best in both function and fashion, whether it's his tablet for drawing class or that powerful scorer card in one of his games. He has a driving need for perfection; if something seems the slightest bit off, he'll go through great lengths to fix it. So if that means spending extra to do it, he'll bite the bullet without much fuss. This extends to his own output as well, willing to burn the midnight oil several days in a row to present a result he'd be proud of.

Unfortunately, Cyrus is not comfortable admitting to imperfections. While he's fine hearing it from people he respects, like his professors, hearing flaws pointed out by fellow classmates puts his back up. Tell him the strategy he's using is inefficient? He'll probably passive aggressively point out your own plan's pitfalls. Petty? Yes. If there's one fault he doesn't mind admitting to, it's being vindictive.
    HISTORY
so that it won’t end up withering
While it's difficult to deny that Cyrus' family is well-off, his parents the founders and managing partners of a top law firm, they were not ostentiously rich so as to create a child far removed from the realities of life. They were simply busy parents who compensated for lost time with what their money could buy, and considering their bank accounts, that was quite a standard. It's pretty safe to say that this is where the blond's penchant for the best delights began.

Frankly, Cyrus had little interest in games at first. Art and design had always been his passion even at 10 years, and it was only by chance that he stumbled upon a game's artbook, piquing his curiosity. Then it was all a downward spiral from there, buying game after game until he'd amassed quite a collection. And that still wasn't enough; eventually mobile games became a thing and he was hooked.

This did not go unnoticed by his parents, who'd tried to control him but were simply too inconsistent to make an effect. So the summer before college, his parents told him he'd be living alone. They weren't throwing him to the wolves; they'd be paying for his basic needs. But they definitely hoped that he'd learn to stand on his own two feet.

The first couple of months were... rough to say the least. Cyrus kept going over his monthly budget, and his parents refused to give him anymore. It's fortunate he didn't have to pay attention to rent, or he'd have been evicted during those dark times. His friends were frequent features, advising him on independent living and feeding him when he spent his money on that new gacha. At their suggestion, he took on a part-time job as flowershop's general helper, using the money he earned there instead for his many frivolities. It's worked out far better, and he's been seeing fewer leaner days.

Cyrus was one of the first in his friend group to pick up a VR set. When Agents Temporalis came out with a call for beta, he was quick to yell at his friends to reserve a spot. He's proud to be one of the few to go from the start to the release... or so he claims. Truthfully, he's raring to flaunt his superior game knowledge and shiny beta tester badge.

Hùifang Jiang

Basics

Age : 22

Gender : Female

Orientation : Pansexual

Profession : College Student (Astrophysics)

Appearance

Height : 5'5"

Weight : 119 lbs.

Hair Color : Originally Jet Black/Dyed Green

Eye Color : Ivy Green

Ethnicity : Chinese/Norweigen

Persona

Hùifang, or Fang as most of those who know her call her, is the biggest ditz one will probably ever meet. She has her talents, but common sense is her greatest weakness. Fang is the type of woman who will get lost going a block over to the grocery store to pick up milk and will end up in Mexico for some odd reason trying to find her way. Speaking of getting lost, no matter where she might be going, you can guarantee she will get lost. Her sense of direction is worse than a broken compass without a needle situated between two magnets. More often times than not, she's gone missing simply because she's gotten lost and has become too distracted to even bother trying to make her way back. If she does remember, she usually has to call her friends or ask somebody for help getting back to where she needs to go. For this very reason, shopping or going out is usually an escapade and she gets most of what she needs delivered to her apartment.

When it comes to booksmarts, Fang is both simultaneously really bad at it and good enough to keep her scholarship at the university. Never does she study or seem to know any of the answers of questions classmates and others ask her, but her grades are nigh perfect and she's respected among those in her field at the prestigious school. Everything but Astrophysics, however, Fang is not very good at. Every plant she's tried to grow wilts overnight. Every meal she's tried to cook blackens beyond recognition. Every sport she seems to try leaves her with at least one broken bone. It's a good thing she's found what she's good at because otherwise, Fang is sadly hopeless.

Fang is also one of the most unlucky people to ever live and extremely klutzy. Anything in her path can guarantee she'll trip over it. Some of the situations she's gotten herself into are unbelievable and seemingly impossible. Fang is always late and nothing of hers is organized in any way shape or form. People have considered the possibility that she has extremely onset dementia, if only to explain this chaotic woman who lives with her head in the clouds.

Despite the bad luck, the bad things that happen to her because of how airheaded she is, and the way some people look at her for it, Fang is an incredibly stress free and happy person, perhaps because she is oblivious to some things, despite having a look of dazed indifference on her face for a large majority of the time. Fang is surprisingly positive even though it's almost guaranteed something negative will happen in the near future and always can find the silver lining in anything. She's gentle and caring towards others and always means well, even if she messes up. She's always honest about anything she's asked. Unfortunately, Fang is also a very emotional person and she's open about how she's feeling. Whereas her default mood is happy, even the slightest of insults or mistakes will send her in tears or a panic. Anything involving somebody she cares about anyway.

In the game her groups of friends are playing, these emotional habits are a bit worse than normal and Fang will usually become upset over any mistakes that she makes because it's one of the rare things that actually makes her feel stupid.

History

If you find yourself wondering if Fang was always like this, then the answer is yes. Ever since she was little, Fang has lived with her head in the clouds. She's passed school with flying colors despite never seeming to have anything to show for it on the surface. Life has been filled with excelling past the expectations of her peers and her superiors, sadly because they were very low. Never has she took an overabundance of pride in the fact that's she's shown anyone up or proved them wrong or has she really acknowledged it at all. It's simply something she's always done and always been. Fang has always been humble despite being looked up to and down on.

Fang has lived with her elderly grandparents all of her life on her mother's side. Her mother had been too young, only in her teens, when she'd been pregnant and instead of subjecting her daughter to a mother who clearly wasn't ready to be a mother and the lack of a father, she'd given up her baby to her parents, both who, despite already growing older at the time, were overjoyed to take the child both for the little girl and to ensure her mother would still be able to continue on the path she was on. When her mother graduated a couple years later, she went off on her own and doesn't really show her face around much anymore. Because of this, Fang had never really known her mother well but her grandparents were always talking fondly about her mother. Fang has never had one ounce of dislike for her mother for her decision and actually looks upon the woman fondly herself.

Her grandparents were always very sweet and supportive of Fang. Both were Chinese immigrants and only spoke mandarin around the house, so it was Fang's primary language, although the elderly couple pushed for Fang to learn English as well because they knew it would be easier on her that way. As Fang got older, she began to take care of them just as much as they took care of her. One look at the two and one could figure out where she got her airiness from. It was a wonder how the three managed anything but they did all the same.

Fang met her friends on one of her excursions trying meander through life and getting lost yet again. It wasn't as if she had ever tried to make friends with them, but more that she fell in with the group nicely. Fang enjoys the company of others but actively seeks out the company of her friends. When they all decided they would try the beta test for the new VRMMORPG, Fang was excited. Although, Fang is just as bad at video games as she is everything else. If it means doing things with them, she's always willing, but with how clumsy and bad at things she is, this is sure to be a disaster of a character. Before gaming with her friends, Fang knew next to nothing about video games or how to play them. She made a tank, because she likes tanks, made him male, because "males are stronger, so it'll make it easier", and made the character look like her and named him after her because she figured "that was how it was supposed to be". She hardly understands stats, experience points or levels, and it's amazing she can really even play in her state. But she's always willing to try and even if she isn't very good at things, she always makes up for it in her moxie.

Basics

Fang is sure to be a disaster of character. It doesn't help that's he's played by a woman who knows nothing about MMO's or even anything about video games. Fang, however, shows a lot more emotion than his player does in real life and seems to have a lot of spirit for the game. He resembles his counterpart in mirror appearance. He's not so bad at swinging a sword or using a shield but it doesn't help if he doesn't understand the weapons he has equipped aren't very good. He doesn't play with strategy but luckily, being a tank, you don't need much strategy to stand at the front and take damage. Due to his mistakes ingame, he's been deemed the "Accidental Leeroy Jenkins".

Age
: 20

Gender : Male

Class : Tank

Height : 6'2"

Hair Color : Green

Eye Color : Grey Green

> Weapon : "Shoddy Broadsword" [A long sword half the size of the average person. Not even a squire would be caught using this sword.]

~ Weapon Set 2
> Weapon : "Demon Mace" [A large mace adorned with spikes around the head. The hilt is a deep black, decorated with gold around the grip. Some say it was the Devil's second favorite weapon.]
> Sub-Weapon : "Celestial Kite Shield" [A large, heavy shield shaped like a teardrop. Said to have been made by the angels. The paintings on the front of it in gold and grey seem to symbolize some great war. Glitters in the sunlight.]

Possessing almond-shaped eyes which taper into a sharply pointed gaze, Lihan is perhaps most noted for his expression that can switch from an ice cold gaze of disdain to one embellished with a mischievous glimmer at the slightest shift of his facial muscles. Luckily, the latter remains the more prevalent of the two, succeeding in crossing and offending very few, lest his glare be intentional. Apart from that and his height, Lihan makes very little conscious effort to make himself “stick out” from the crowd in terms of appearance. His dark hair remains haphazardly combed, and he isn’t particularly choosy with his outfits, though he at least makes sure not to give off the impression of a slob.

    personality

    life is not fair

Lihan is most noted around campus as an accomplished student who’s also humble enough to refrain from flaunting his successes. A poster child of responsibility and independence, the brunette is your typical overseas student. Not only did he graduate high school with top honors despite being a foreigner, but he did so without the pampering of his legal guardians, who had decided to remain in their homeland. Quick to assimilate to the unfamiliar setting all while balancing his studies with a life where the only aid he receives is basic finances, Lihan bears a well-rounded set of skills, suitable for one left to his own devices.

However, like all other students who tend to “live in the moment”, he’s a terrible procrastinator. An incorrigible one at that. Years of discipline have ingrained regular study into the very fibers of his being, but when it comes down to things tagged with a due date, Lihan’s brain seems to naturally draw a blank, only kicking itself back into working once in the “danger zone”. The fact that his mind seems to always wander back towards his favorite games doesn’t help his case, either. Unfortunately, he’s never handed in an assignment late (courtesy of copious amounts of coffee), so the day that he breaks this habit is some time far in the distant future.

Though good-natured at his core, it isn’t difficult for Lihan’s seemingly laid-back attitude to rub certain people the wrong way, as those looking for flaws naturally blame all of his achievements on mere talent. Ironically, this often leads to the few moments where his mild temperament gives way to respond in kind. Other insults are trivial matters to him, but the one attack he refuses to tolerate is that of questioning his level effort. After all, those sleepless nights studying on a certain topic that he didn’t quite get weren’t just a figment of his imagination. In the end, he’s quick to forgive and move on, holding steadfast to the belief that grudges only proved to increase stress levels. That doesn’t mean he’s beyond sliding a few snarky comments here and there, however.

    backstory

    but i will follow it

His life was, to say, hectic. Not necessarily in a bad way, but it didn’t make his life easier either.

Born to two rather fickle-minded parents, Lihan found himself moving from country to country not once but thrice. An earlier-than-expected birth extended his parents’ vacation in Hawaii from two weeks to a month, causing permanently making their move to the states to come to question. It wasn’t anything too radical, they had thought. After all, Lihan’s grandmother and his father’s brother had long settled down in California and New York respectively. His parents, however, found life in the country dissatisfactory and, by the end of the month, decided in favor of returning to their homeland.

The next eleven years in mainland China were smooth sailing. A more than stable income led to a comfortable home life, and Lihan, as an intelligent child, never found much difficulty in keeping up with his studies so long as he was diligent. It wasn’t until his parents proposed yet another grand plan on his twelfth birthday: Lihan was to be sent to study abroad in Finland. Not only would he be exposed to an alternate but nevertheless topnotch education, but living arrangements would also not be an issue, as he had an aunt who had moved there years before. It was perfect. At least for Lihan’s parents.

However, even his stay in Finland would only last four years. After over a decade of slaving away at a daily deluge of school work in China, the rare tests and scant homework assignments in his Finnish school spoiled him enough for him to begin slacking just enough for him to look for other ways to fill his free time. Thus, he turned to online gaming, something that would eventually become an addiction of sorts. His parents’ displeasure at this report and his aunt’s engagement eventually came about to the decision that he’d be moving again, this time back to the United States, not that he particularly minded. He didn’t fancy the idea of sticking around the nest of soon-to-be-newlyweds.

Once again, arrangements were made, only this time their plans extended to his college years. For his high school years, he’d be shipped over to freeload off of his grandmother’s house in New York. Upon obtaining his license, graduating from high school, and essentially becoming a legal adult, he’d be given permission to live on his own, with his parents taking care of the finances for whatever house or apartment that he’d be living in. Fortunately, his capricious parents managed to stick to the plan.

Adding English to his list of “above fluent” languages was no easy task, and to be honest, he’d always disliked the language since his exposure to it over the years. Nevertheless, his first year was focused on the intense polishing of his English linguistic skills while balancing school work. The following were spent scrubbing away at his accent, carefully forming words in a way that sounded natural, like that of a native speaker’s. Surprisingly, gaming helped and even seemed to create an extra incentive to improve. Communication was essential during party play, and he wasn’t about to let any linguistic faux pas bring his contributions to waste.

Soon enough, Lihan found himself settled in his own cozy apartment, successfully enrolled in college, and even in a tight-knit group of friends. Gaming friends. Of course, when a certain friend barked at them to reserve a spot for Agents Temporalis’ beta, he found no reason to refuse, regardless of project deadlines or not. As long as he got things done in the end it was fine, right?

    ALINE BERTILLE
    BASIC INFO
    .
    Age - 19
    Gender - Female

    PERSONALITY
    .
Aline may initially come off as distant or rude when meeting her in real life, generally staying rather emotionally far from others and acting as if she isn't interested in subjects at hand. She carries herself almost as if she's simply "going with the flow", even during times when she is feeling the opposite. Though, through this unfavorable first impression Aline creates, people seeing through this can also meet Aline's pleasantries.

Something the lady has been attempting to work on throughout the years is her cheerfulness. Her online persona helping her greatly and - while she isn't a beacon of happiness to others - Aline can often lend a smile or an exchange of pleasant smalltalk whenever it's required. Always a calm individual, while maintaining her smile and her pleasant words Aline makes herself as a different person; a person more breezily mature than her more distant self, and one who can handle a conversation for more than five minutes.

Aline is a rather focused individual. She tends to be a rather hard-worker in the majority of times, finishing assignments with little amounts of time to procrastinate. She enjoys solo work over group work solely based on this fact, unless Aline knows her group partners well beforehand. Highly motivated and engaged with whatever she works on, Aline - when needed - can be the fuel to a group's success, leading them through various obstacles along the way. And while Aline dislikes group work, she is often team-player. She works towards the success of the group as a whole, rather than simply herself.

Though, as implied in the beginning, Aline is not a social butterfly. Often ignoring social cues and simply stating what she wants to say or talking in inappropriate moments, Aline may unintentionally get under the nerves of others. Holding conversations is an issue was well. Unless in her online persona, Aline has trouble finding topics of discussion to further drive conversations to become conversations rather than simply smalltalk.

    BIOGRAPHY
    .
Aline's life has been one of occasional mishaps and strange circumstances. Whether it be from her own doing or external forces out of control, one-by-one problems seemed to constantly meet Aline's way - each fixing themselves as time passed.

Aline Bertille was born in a well-off family. Her parents were neither rich, nor were they considered "middle-class". Having their first and only child, Aline's parents showered her with all the attention she wished and nearly anything she liked to have. Aline was raised in luxury. Any toy she wanted, she had. Any food item she craved, she ate. To most Aline was fed with a silver spoon, both figuratively and perhaps literally. Though this constant pampering soon devolved from a gift to a long-term detriment to the girl. The young Aline grew rather....bored of the things that had once given her excitement. She no longer felt the rush of happiness whenever she received a gift, it was simply another item to add to the pile.

Progressively as the years passed Aline grew rather aloof and monotonous, working as a slow poison to her social life. She saw as her friends began to slowly trickle away from her, moving towards other people more capable to keeping a cheery conversation. With less and less individuals to talk to, at the age of nine Aline had begun to play videogames. Filling the void of a lack of social activity took the form of platforming or simulation games - her favorite genres at that time. She used this mostly as a time-killer in the past, letting the hours slip by as she waiting for her next school day, and eventually the next school year. Soon her friend circle had only become a few singular individuals and eventually the amount of time spent on games were massive, soon creating another problem in her life: a lack of time management.

At the age of twelve Aline's console usage was severely restricted upon her grades dropping. Originally an honors student, she slowly became none of the sort. Her parents - the first time saying no to their daughter in a major way - told her to essentially clean up or act or she could scarcely play her games again, and of course she obliged. It was a slow process to clean herself up within an academic context. Aline spent the next year finding productivity and the motivation to reach a high achievement level once again, and she spent another ensuring this attitude will persist. Upon viewing this active change - at the beginning of Aline's freshmen year of highschool - she was given back her freedom. Though there was still something she continued to have: her mood towards others.

By the time Aline entered high school the friends she made were still limited. She was known in school for her rather quiet demeanor, and therefore not many individuals approached her over her highschool years. Though, while in school others had this perception of her in this way, she decided to change herself (at the least) online.

Growing a more cheerful attitude online opposed to in real life, by her senior year it was almost as if Aline had two separate people living inside her. The only reason why her online persona slowly began to bleed into her real life persona was due to a few friends. Originally meeting them in real life before continuing online, they saw both sides to Aline - letting her break down the wall to the two. Slowly and slowly her attitude began to improve in the real world, though not too drastically.

Currently Aline is attending school to become an architect while simultaneously playing Agents Temporalis alongside her friends under the name "Starmine".
