It's 1256 AGS, and the universe is building with tension. 110 years ago the Galactic Federation lost the first Intergalactic War with the Republic of Eastern Sectors. The Federation has regrown it's strength and returned to it's former state, causing the Republic to be over-defensive. There have been only a few skirmishes, but there is something that can spill the pot.
A message, a fractured one.
There are three parts to the holodisk, only one is found, and with you. Both the Federation and the Republic are after the pieces. No one knows what the messages entails to, but it whoever wields it could either keep the piece, or send the galaxy spiraling into destruction.
Factions:
The galaxy can be an inhospitable place, most people join a government or faction for safety and to secure a better future.
Galactic Federation:
Built from the ashes of the Crematirian Alliance, the Galactic Federation was founded during the Great Silence, and helped restore the galaxy to it's former state afterwards. It's mostly made up of humans and lacertas, and controls the southern middle part of the galaxy. It was brought into the Intergalactic War after the New Crematirian Empire fought the Republic. It lost, and the New Cremitirian Empire was dismantled, and split between the Federation and the Republic.
Republic of Eastern Sectors:
After the Crematirian Alliance fell in the Great Silence, most close habitable planets banded together in order to survive. The Republic was one of these planets groups. Instead of traveling and reconnecting the galaxy, the planet group remained were it was, afraid of losing it's population out in the galaxy. When the Silence ended, they delcared themselves a sovereign nation. A rebuilt Crematirian Alliance had an issue with this. They staged major political battles for over a hundred years before it turned into a real battle, and started the Intergalactic Civil War. They won with the help of the Trade Confederacy, although they'll never admit it. After their victory, to rub salt into a wound, they took half of the territory that belonged to the New Crematirian Alliance.
Confederacy of Trade Sectors:
Before the Great Silence, the CA controlled most of the galaxy. One North-Eastern region was filled with intellectual species. The CA and other factions would use and abuse them for alve labor. After the GS, they declared themselves independent. All of the nations recognized them as, even the NCA. They specialize in AI and robotics. Their entire army and most of their manuel labor field is filled with robots and androids.
The Palthizar Empire:
The Palthizar Empire was founded before the GS, and survived it. It has mainly stayed uninvolved with any outer conflicts and the Intergalactic War. But it is no safe haven. The empire is currenty in a civil war with the Palthizar Seperatists, a group of hostile rogue sectors. The Empire controls the Southwestern parts of the Galaxy.
The Palthizar Seperatists:
Before the GS, a group of rogue sectors took up arms and began to invade and harvest planets in the unknown galaxy regions. The Empire condemned them and seeked to punish them for their actions. They retaliated and declared themselves independent. The Palthizarian Civil War has been on and off for centuries, both sides have made little progress.
Species:
Humans:
The Humans of earth, a biped primate capable of adapting to almost any conditions. They were first discovered on Earth when the Palthizrian Seperatists tried to harvist their planet for resources. A 70 year long war ensued, that went unknown to the rest of the galaxy until the CA showed up and ended it. Earth then declared them and their planet system to be a soveriegn nation. Unified Earth, this didn't last long. Civil war after civil war, the idea of a Unified Earth was gone, and the planet was reclaimed by nature. By then, however, humans had spread through the galaxy, and they were here to stay.
Lacertians:
A reptillian like species, known for their advanced physical and healing capabilities. They were found on the now destroyed Mesa-Kaiser by the CA when they first started to pioneer the galaxy. They have shared a long history with the CA, albiet an uneasy one.
Cremitirian:
This humaniod alien species is known for connecting and building the galactic society we know today. They have distinct characteristics such as, grey skin, white hair, and large red, pink, or purple eyes. Some Cremitirian females have also been known to have antennas on their forehead. They have a rich culture and history, and originate on the planet Natusoko.
Canisos:
This species resembles a mix between dog and human, and orignate from the mountainous planet of Gistaria. They stand on two legs, usually have fur, and an either short or long snout. They're known for their keen senses. They are generally respected across the galaxy, but they have been known to be the victim of discrimination among some parts.
Polyosen:
Polyosens are a squid like humanoid, originating from the planet Malthozar. They have slightly above average intelligence, and are known for a high tolerance for poison and other toxic elements. However, their skin is easliy torn, and doesn't heal as fast as others.
Jabajuoans:
Jabajuoans are small, in size, and a little chubby. They are fish like humaniods. While very physically limited, they have amazing intellect. Crafting and enginerring some of the most complex systems in the galaxy. They were discovered by the CA on the jungle plant of Satharan.
Rhakoids:
Rhakoids are the oppposite of Jabajuoans. They are beast like humaniods, with four large arms, no real hair or fur. They are very intellectually limited, but very physically strong. Due to this, most of them either find employment in manuel labor, or join a pirate or bandit gang and raid ships. They originated on the jungle planet Yuasotoa.
Communications, Currency, etc:
Most communications are taken out through private radio connections, or the galactic system of interconnected computer systems known as the ubernet. (Basically space interent. Woohoo.) Most space ships commincate through private radio connections. Usually to relay warning or travel guides.
The vast majority of currency in the galaxy is relative to region. If you're in the Federation territory, Federal Credits are your goal. The Republic and the Confederacy, you have Feds, the Palthizar Empire uses Imperial Pistos. If you have a good sum in one region, but broke in the other, you can head to a bank or an exchange and convert the currency.
