Welcome to the wastes! It’s what now covers most of the world. There’s nothing but dirt and tumbleweeds. How did this place become so barren? It was due to the angels, Large human looking beasts that one day showed up on humanity’s door. Humanity tried to get of the monsters by using all their military might. However, not even nukes took them out. Now with the world wiped humanity fled the continent to the seas. They made man made islands where life resumed as normal. Though only the rich and elite could escapes the wastes.
those who live in the wastes are either poor and living honest lives or have money and live dishonestly. In the wastes the lad is infertile and farmers have a hard time producing for villages. Some chose to go to waste cities and get service jobs. Others choose to be raiders and steal from island cargo carriers or rich wasters.
the island mimic the pre wipe era where middle class people live regular lives. Though the rich have their own section of the island where technology has boomed.
a rumor among the wastes and islands has spread like wildfire. A rumor about a place called Eden. A place where the grass is still green and the plants thrive. They also say that people live there and thrive.
[your character] has heard about the rumors and decided to join an exploration team to find Eden.
