Is there a maximum for abilities, or are they technically just there depending on the Character's race?
What happens if there are people making several powers, and end up having something same/similar?
Are we allowed to put placeholders?
Any limitations to species, or can we choose whatever?

There isn’t a maximum for abilities, just try to not make the character unreasonably powerful. They’re there depending on the character’s strengths and powers. It includes their species traits, and things they’re personally good at (martial arts, learned magic types). Just make sure to give them flaws and some form of combat exploitable weakness.
For if people end up making the same classes, I can say that my characters (2 main characters, 1 is a side character who will mostly serve as a guard and re-supplier at our main character’s base of operations) are a Fighter, a Fighter-Sorcerer hybrid, and a Sorcerer. I’ll ask everybody what DnD class they think they their character would fit into.

It's kind of a wager, but I supposed Yuji is a Cleric-ish and/or Sharpshooter type>?

Still wip (and admittedly a bit classic), but think I'm probably going with dwarf fighter (with a smithing background for more dorfness most likely but yeah, fighter works )
