Aerumen Lore so far...

  • Aerumen is a vast world filled with humans and magical creatures alike. Will add more soon.

Also known as the City of Elves, or the City Without Humans. It isn't entirely as selective as the nicknames suggest. Though it is the capital of the westlands, many species live within its walls, the vast majority being elves. The king is a high elf named Mírion who resides in Yefadorei the majority of the time, a man that is most beloved by many people, though he is a bit prideful. The city itself is somewhat of a vast fortress that comes in two main parts, though it's beauty often proves welcoming. The lower half of the city is walled with white stone, reaching around a port to the ocean, and in the middle is where the castle lies, large and elegant, like the high elves who built it. The second half of the city cannot be entered without first entering the lower half unless you know the way. It connects to the vast woodlands that surround part of Yefadoeri, various homes and buildings built into and around the thick trees above the ground.
Yefadorei is also home to the Academy of Arcane Arts, where people study magic, alchemy, and crystals. It's placed in the lower city, as too many non-elves study at the academy.

Humans cannot enter the city without either having an elf companion with them, or having an official invite. Very few live there themselves, and those who do typically are enrolled in the academy or are under apprenticeships.

    Human City- TBA

Not a city, and not even a town. Lythrope is an encampment, or small settlement, that is entirely secluded from outsiders. It mainly resides inside a stretch of deep forest in the midlands, close to the border between there and the Westlands, and isn't on any map you can find. In fact, the entire area is cloaked with magic that prevents it from being marked on a map, and those who are not invited in are unaware of its presence. It is, in some way, like a pocket dimension that reaches various places all at once. While the settlement may actually be there, someone who isn't a part of it can walk right through its borders without a clue of it existing, and be none the wiser when they leave. There is a way to be invited in, but only those who have been there before will know the password. The inhabitants of Lythrope are many, many people of different races and skills. Most travelers end up here at some point, but only those who wish it well will remember it, and its password can only be uttered at its borders. It's a strange magic, and rarely studied, only a very powerful magic user could've conducted it, but nowadays the name of this person is long forgotten by most. Many people who reside within the encampment are travelers, those who have been scorned by the law, or even those who just wish for a life away from the politics and cruelty of the kingdoms. There are also traders, black smiths, and healers- people who gain money from the visitors needing a way-station.

Species

Humans take up the majority of the population count in most great cities. They are an adaptive species, capable of doing many things. Though they have shorter life spans than many other species, they are quick to spread, and can accomplish great things in their life times. Most humans, while they may tolerate other species like Elves, don't look kindly on them. Of course, there are exceptions, but generally speaking Humans are quite self centered. When it comes to magic, humans lack the capacity to be masters, though many try, and it can still be used by them. Enchantments are typically preferred, having their weapons engraved with runes or augmented with crystals gives them a boost without having to actually use magic.
Humans vary based on their environment, some are smaller than average and some are quite big, their skin, hair, and eye colors also vary based on genetics. There are also some, such as those from the northwest, who can be recognized immediately, as they are typically bigger than the average human and usually only have lighter hair and eye colors.

Magic
Just about every species can learn magic, though magic may be more limited for some than others. Most people start with a single strand of magic, and continue to study and practice it as time goes on. Some pick up more as they come to understand magic, while others may not try to use magic at all. There are two known types of magic categorized by Elemental and non-elemental. Elemental is magic used to summon, wield, or manipulate a certain element. Non-elemental magic covers a much larger variety of magic that isn't as well studied, though many believe it doesn't exist at all.

  • Elemental Magic is used to summon, wield or manipulate the Basic 5 Elements. These Elements are the following; Fire, Lightning, Wind, Earth & Fire.

There are advanced element types and sub-elements as part of these basic elements or also mixtures of the two - the more skilled and experienced mages can further study their favoured element and produce and more interesting effect and magic.

Misc Notes

Zykossim - A tasty Spice for Races with a better immune system - can be added to bland foods and turns it into something more enjoyable, causes Humans or races with a simple resilience to go into coughing fits and their sinuses to flare, profuse sweating and frothing from the mouth.

Purple Dragon Ivy - Used for Burning Ointments

Brightwig - Glowing Insect
