personality

being a deaf person is hard for jitae.
despite his disability of not being able to hear, jitae is an aspiring / online artist. he's also very happy for a person with a disability like being deaf. he enjoys being with translators, and he like to be around others. even though he's not really social and he chooses not to speak at times, meaning he's a select mute, he thoroughly enjoys having other people around him, and speaking to him in his language.
when he does speak, he does have a heavy korean / asian accent, and he has a slight lisp on certain letters. mostly 's's. he also only speaks for certain amounts of time. he won't say a whole lot of things, especially in english. he's also a konglish person, meaning he speaks both korean and english, sometimes in the same sentence. he also puts himself down, because he think's he's a burden to the people around him, he thinks that everyone doesn't know ASL, which everyone doesn't, and it's harder for them to learn it just to become his friend or something closer than that.

biography

as a small kid, jitae was already born deaf. as his parents figured this out, they had to hurry and learn ASL before jitae had entered kindergarten. when he was little, he knew that he couldn't hear things better than other kids, if not at all. his parents taught him sign language, yet at first he didn't really understand the whole concept of it.
as he grew, at about 6 years old, he began understanding the language more and more. he already had his korean accent, just from being around his parents, his faint hearing at a young age allowing him to hear only a little bit.
as he grew more, to about 16, he became completely deaf, and he couldn't hear anything around him anymore. he was upset to know that he wasn't like other kids, and that he was.. different. he didn't like that word a whole lot. it didn't roll off the tongue to him quiet as well other words would. it disappointed him the day that his parents told him that he was different, and that he was deaf and there had to be "arrangements".
after going to a specialized school for the deaf, and then going off to college at the age of 18 1/2, he became really interested in art.
he enjoyed the colors, and he found them to be quite pretty. beautiful, he would think. he started drawing, and painting and experimenting all sorts of things with art. he found his favorite artist, which was leonardo da vinci. he thought that starry night was a wonderful and uplifting painting.
after experimenting for so long, till he was about 21, he began to draw his own pictures, paint peoples faces that he saw around the cafe, or wherever he seemed to lurk at. after a month or two, he began his own online store, and he started selling his paintings and drawings for money to support him while he was in college. he's very successful, and his parents are proud of him.
