Colosseum ADVENT DAWN (XCOM 2 Campaign Roleplay)

Adrian ran into a wall for cover, slightly ahead from the others. He then looks ahead into the street, watching out for any enemy movements.

Nikolaj leapt to work, sprinting to the back of a parked car and jumping onto its trunk, setting up his rifle and its bipod on the roof of said car, so he could see from a slightly higher vantage point. "I'll cover your advance."

 

[Kalashnikova Squid]

Ahead of the parked car was two ADVENT soldiers. They patrolled down the street, gauss rifles held but not raised. Into the distance was the statue, surrounded by a civilian crowd. The statue's ADVENT guards were on the other side (and as such not privy to XCOM's activities) while an ADVENT VIP addressed the crowd below, dedicating the massive golden image of an Ethereal One.

The 5.56mm rifle rounds of the XM29 OICW exploded from the barrel and carved deep into the side of the unaware ADVENT soldier. It emitted a vocoded screech of pain as it hit the ground, dead. The gauss rifle detonated internally, reduced to an outer shell and slag.


The second ADVENT soldier whipped around, and started toward a nearby holo-ad for cover.

The Remington 700 boomed, its heavy .416 Magnum round slicing through the ADVENT soldier's cover like butter. The soldier convulsed and hit the ground dead, his rifle detonating.


Ahead, the civilian crowd, out of sight of the deaths, roiled. ADVENT guards raised their weapons in a threatening show of force, and the ADVENT VIP desperately addressed the crowd, passing the shots off as nothing. Eventually the citizens stopped and the VIP returned to his address.

"Hahah, did you see him go boom!?" Benedikt whispered into the radio. He then advanced to the nearest vehicle for cover, and then going into(?) overwatch.

A grin crept across Roman's face as the XCOM Intitative fought back against the aliens for the first tie in decades. He cracked his neck before running and gunning near to 3738 who was, undoubtedly alerted by now and fired his shotgun, hoping the Crack open the head like a pinata. The barrel was at point blank, likely catching the enemy by surprise after seeing his compatriot explode and a scarred German pop out from behind a garbage container.

The shotgun barked, but the ADVENT soldier had already hit the dirt from the powerful .416 Magnum round. A bit too late for the kill, it seemed. By now however, the guards were undoubtedly alerted. The radio chirped and buzzed.


"Look out Gatecrasher, they've gotten suspicious. Intel reports some patrols breaking off from the main guard detachment and coming your way. Be ready to get past them if needed." Already, marching boots- four pairs- could be heard from behind a nearby building corner, down the street to the ADVENT statue looming ahead.

Nikolaj's face never changed, even as Roman decided to shoot a dead body. "Acknowledged, Command." he radioed back, working the bolt and readying to fire again at anyone who popped their heads around the corner. "Set up behind some cover. We need a good ambush, here."

Adrian moves into anothrr cover while trying to stay concealed. Before moving out he makes sure that he's covered by Nikolaj.

Adrian hits the corner of the building (High Cover- 40 Defense). Nikolaj hits Overwatch down the roadway. Roman (High Cover- 40 Defense) and Benedikt (High Cover- 40 Defense) are concealed from the roadway.


The boots drew closer.

The .416 Magnum bullet splattered through the internal organs of the ADVENT Trooper, and he spun to the ground, very dead.

The ADVENT Captain points to the revealed Nikolaj, moving to raise his gauss rifle. The two remaining ADVENT Troopers ducked for cover, 2123 going behind another parked car, while 7565 dived for a nearby holo-ad. 1665 pulled behind the car 2123 was using as cover, and starts Suppressing (0.5 aim penalty) Nikolaj.

Benedikt couldn't wait another second. He needed to see an explosion. He pulled out whatever grenade he had (not the important charges, those were for later), and fired towards the ADVENT Captain.

Josh slowly walked over to the armory on the Avenger ship. Rubbing his knees, he took down another painkiller and took a seat as he winced in pain from the kneecap. Ever since the surgery, his kneecaps hurt like hell after every training mission, but he had told absolutely no one. He got up after a couple of minutes, and went to get his sniper rifle and pistol. Wiping his glasses, he went back upstairs to the barracks to wait for further instructions.

Josh's radio link opened. "Hit the Skyranger Deployment Deck, rookie. Gatecrasher just got outed and we'll need reinforcements on the ground."

The captain and ADVENT Trooper were caught in the blast behind the car.

The ADVENT Trooper was eviscerated by the 20x28mm grenade of the OICW. The captain screamed in pain, but his ADVENT augments kept him lucid long enough to coordinate fire from the one remaining ADVENT Trooper and continue suppressing Nikolaj.

The glowing red Gauss pulses shot low over Benedikt's head, some bouncing off the hood of the angular-plated car.

With a slow nod and a "Affirmative." Josh went up to the skyrangers deck. It was always cold up there for some reason... He looked around for any other people to got with him. After a while of waiting, it seemed that there was no such luck. Taking a deep breath, he held his gun and walked to the elevator, as it took him to a plane.

The Skyranger was quickly loaded and departed. It wasn't a far flight (for the capability of the Skyranger) anyway, and soon the fast-ropes deployed safe behind the building corner out of the firing lines. The radio comm-link opened.


"Heads up Gatecrasher, you're getting reinforcements. You'll have to push forward to the statue and blow it up, ADVENT or not. Be careful though- intel reports they're warming up some dropships of their own."

After sliding down the ropes, he landed safely on the ground, and looked around. He kept his rifle up and observed the area so he wouldn't get flanked by some soldier.

Benedikt's heart started racing, this is what he was built for, blowing up the opponent, "Backup, be ready to advance quickly, or you'll be left behind!" Benedikt ran up to the smoking holo-ad, and watched for the next bit of cover, closer to the statue.

He looked around the field and decided to take that advice. "Taking the high ground!" He told his man through comm links, climbing up a buildings pipe to the second floor roof of a building. "I'll keep over-watch from here."

The ADVENT trooper, understanding that he was beginning to lose control of the situation, gestured to the nearby ADVENT Captain. The soldier immediately points his gun barrel out.


AT-7565 places Overwatch.

Nikolaj slid the action smoothly. Up, back, forward, down. Shots pulsed over his head, startling him, and he pressed himself a little lower into the car. Benedikt used a grenade on them, but the man suppressing him survived. He'd have to take him out of his own accord. He did his best to steel his nerves against the nearby shots, took aim at the Captain, and squeezed the trigger.

Adrian peeked slightly from the corner and notices one of the ADVENT trooper have been put on overwatch. "There goes my flanking plan". He disengages the safety and fires a burst into ADVENT trooper.
