this...was a pain to code. it's definitely not the most user friendly of codes; in fact, it's probably the farthest thing from user friendly i've ever coded in my entire life. no comments. gigantic blocks of code. but it's probably some of my best work and for just for that it's being uploaded onto this thread. this is, in short, the most elaborate thing i've ever attempted.
if anybody is interested in trying to use decipher it and is stuck, shoot me a pm or post a question on the thread and i shall come to your dramatic rescue. who knows. if i receive enough interest i might be convinced to re-organize and re-label everything.

  Overview: Li Yazhen (better known by her English name as Yasmine Li) is currently a senior at Auburn Springs Public High School, where she has cemented herself as the school's resident rich "ice princess." She has successfully created an image of untouchable perfection; straight A student, never involved in scandals, top tier social connections. It makes one question: just what's underneath this pristine layer of snowy polish?
  
  Vices: Cold, haughty, blunt, cynical
  Simply put, Yasmine isn't an easy person to interact with, or get to know. She's not the person you turn to to for small talk when you're waiting in the cafeteria lunch line, nor is she the person you ask for help on question 2 of last night's Calculus homework. (Even if she definitely has the answer). Perhaps it's a message, subtly ingrained in the way she carries herself: "don't talk to me, I'm not interested in your pathetic opinions." Whether or not she actually thinks this varies from person to person, but few ever bother to try melting her icy exterior to find out. Either way, Yasmine doesn't seem to mind her position in the social hierarchy, where her repute of being the distant loner should bring her into the peril of rumors and snarky remarks made by her peers, but instead only serve to elevate the shadowy throne she sits upon. Seemingly untouchable and unknowable. It doesn't exactly help that the (short) list of people who have interacted with her describe her as "haughty" and a little "stuck up." She's not bothered by these labels, dismissing those people as "too thin-skinned to ever amount to anything." Sure, it's a very judgmental (and arguably arrogant) viewpoint, but Yasmine is a realist at her core. If she doesn't like something, she won't be shy about voicing her opinions. Instead, she'd take a step back, reassess her options, and reformulate a better plan.

  Li Yazhen was born to Li Shujie and Zhang Keyin on November 11th, in the Chinese city of Xi'an, capital of the Shaanxi province. The couple worked there as petroleum engineers before relocating to the United States (when Yazhen was five), settling in the big city of Los Angeles, where they worked for the company ExxonMobil. L.A is where Yazhen (who adopted the English name of "Yasmine") spent the majority of her childhood and teenage years. She lived a relatively cushy (if somewhat sheltered) life, attending an all-girls private school from grades one to eight, as well as various extracurricular activities like ballet, chess and, most notably, piano. It was, to put it bluntly, very uneventful. Nevertheless, this was the time she was also the happiest and (while she has always been on the quieter side) most sociable. She was by no means popular, but there was a select group of friends she carved a place with. (Friends she still regularly talks to to this day).
  
  The summer of eighth grade is when everything went to hell. Her mother and father had always had a very strained relationship; dinner time chats could turn into petty arguments, and petty arguments into full-blown fights. (All within the span of a couple minutes). Despite all this, Yasmine simply figured it was normal. After all, no relationship was perfect, right? Surely everyone else's home life couldn't much more different? She was, regrettably, sorely mistaken.

  Her father had an affair. It didn't last long (or so he claimed) and it really wasn't anything more than a typical office fling. In his own words, "just a shade above casual flirting." In typical cheater fashion, he claimed that Yasmine's mother would only ever be the woman for him, that he had made a mistake and that it was once, (only once) did their casual flirting turn intimate after a night of drinks and boring business talk. As much as her father begged for a second chance, her mother would not accept anything less than an agreement for a divorce. Full ownership of their main property and exclusive parenting rights Yasmine along with it. A valiant effort was put in on her father's part, but in the end (just like always) her mother had her way. Nothing more, nothing less. A grim victory indeed.
  
  The final nail in the coffin of her once peaceful life was when her mother made the executive decision to sell their house. Ever the pragmatist, their property's value had tripled since they first bought it in the early 2000s. Less than half of the money earned could be put towards a house much bigger in a slightly less expensive area, with the leftover being saved for Yasmine's college fund and other investments. As it always was with her mother, there was no room for discussion. And so, thirteen-year-old Yasmine packed her bags with a heavy heart, bid her friends a teary goodbye and jetted off to a town in the middle of nowhere.
  
  In actuality, Auburn Springs wasn't as bad she expected. Sure, it didn't compare to Los Angeles in the slightest, but not many cities (in the world at the large) did. It was a bit strange to always be living in a serene suburban neighborhood instead of close to a city center, where there was always the bustle of traffic and other city sounds that she'd grown to take comfort in. Auburn Springs, in Yasmine's mind can be summarized as two things: quiet and boring. Public town events were few and far in between --- not that she really wanted to attend them anyway, since she'd left all her friends back in California, but it had always been nice knowing there was at least something to do, somewhere to escape to when school became too stressful or the weekend too monotonous.
  
  The move triggered a bout of depression. Something akin to a permanent veneer of gray, wrapping her world in swaths of misery. There were days she could hardly muster the strength to get out of bed, and while those days were hard, she soldiered on. Never uttering a word of her true feelings to her mother, whom she slowly grew distant and slightly resentful towards. (It didn't matter anyway, she figured. Her mother wasn't exactly the understanding and sympathetic type and any advice she offered would probably be something along the lines of "get over it," or "blame your father.")
  So, Yasmine got very good at suppressing her emotions. Icing them over with a cold air of indifference. There were still times where she truly wanted to die; like on the first day of high school, when she sat alone in the crowded cafeteria, trying desperately to shove back the rising bile in her throat, but they too eventually faded. The void of nothingness in her heart froze over, making it whole once more.

Instead, she chose to hyperfixate on a singular goal: return to Los Angeles.
  
  She planned it all out: achieve phenomenal grades in high school, get accepted to UCLA on a scholarship and leave the dull little town she'd called home for the past four years of her life. It was perfect. Flawless. Except for one thing: her mother would never approve. Life in the city had been expensive, why would she choose to send her daughter there, when there were perfectly adequate options closer to home? She'd said as much as Yasmine entered her senior year, oblivious to her daughter's carefully made plans.
  
  Nevertheless, Yasmine remained determined. Her mother always got her way, but it would not happen this time. Just this once. An act of defiance. Her first declaration of independence. Her scholarship would take care of her tuition, and she'd remained in contact with her father who, despite all her mother's attempts to cut off all communication with him, gladly agreed to give her a place to stay if she chose to attend UCLA.
  
  All that stood before her was one measly, uneventful year of high school.

  She planned it all out: achieve phenomenal grades in high school, get accepted to UCLA on a scholarship and leave the dull little town she'd called home for the past four years of her life. It was perfect. Flawless. Except for one thing: her mother would never approve. Life in the city had been expensive, why would she choose to send her daughter there, when there were perfectly adequate options closer to home? She'd said as much as Yasmine entered her senior year, oblivious to her daughter's carefully made plans.
  
  Nevertheless, Yasmine remained determined. Her mother always got her way, but it would not happen this time. Just this once. An act of defiance. Her first declaration of independence. Her scholarship would take care of her tuition, and she'd remained in contact with her father who, despite all her mother's attempts to cut off all communication with him, gladly agreed to give her a place to stay if she chose to attend UCLA.

hey there. c: thank you so much.

yes, i am open to requests, but there's one person who's ahead of you right now, so it might take some time for me to get back to you. (i unfortunately don't have much time on my hands; online schooling has me teaching myself multiple uni level courses).

as for the "light colours," i'm assuming you're referring to the transparent boxes? if so, the most general way to explain is that there's two way to edit the colour property within a border tag. a) a hex code. b) with rgba, which is a set of numbers that also represent a colour, but you can edit a colour's opacity with them as well. (a bit oversimplified, but you're always welcome to pm me further questions!)
as for the pictures, i assume you're referring to placement? that's little more complicated, but i'm (primarily) exploiting the flex function. i can explain it with screenshots and such if you'd like, but that's the gist of it.

i was watching shadow & bone the other day (great show btw, you should give it watch!) when all of a sudden i had the urge to make a netflix inspired interest check. :,) this is the result. it should be pretty straightforward in terms of use, nothing too crazy. (it's a lot more simple than my other codes haha). i had a lot of fun emulating / adapting netflix's designs. as always, if you're having trouble with using it, don't hesitate to shoot me a pm or post on this thread.
