STAFF/ HOST

Name: Noah Lial Anderson
Age: 24 y/o
Gender: Male
Role: Psychologist. Noah specifically researches the certain stressors and psychological problems that accompany becoming possessed.

Personality: In short, Noah is determined. He is one of those people you hear about in stories. He goes to the extreme to get results. In most cases he will put himself into any situation he deems necessary if he believes he can obtain results. Some call it self destructive while others believe its some sort of morbid need for self fulfillment. He thinks its probably both. Despite being a psychologist, Noah has a hard time connecting with others. That's not to say he can't, he's just not as sympathetic as most would consider to be "normal". When interacting with others however, he tends to be the first to speak and feels awkward when met with drawn out silence. He rambles quite a lot when uncomfortable (which is more often than not) and is very blunt when offering advice or his opinion.

Appearance: Noah is a sallow, lanky man with deep set green eyes that look perpetually tired and uninterested in the world around him. He stands at around 5'11", but some say he looks just a bit taller when admiring his features. His dark brown hair falls just a bit past his shoulders and is usually swept back and away from his face. His long, slender fingers-most of the time-are fiddling with something (i.e. pencils/ pens, picking at his nails, tearing paper, etc.). Noah prefers to dress plainly, favoring sweaters (Sometimes button-ups too), jeans and loafers or sneakers (Think Barry Allen in The Flash)

Seal: This seal appears in the form of a slight mis-coloration in Noah's right pupil. A cloudy color has formed in his eye, giving off the appearance of blindness despite his near perfect vision.

History: Born in Rockford, Illinois, Noah had always been quite an awkward kid. Starting in elementary and throughout middle and high school, he was never really good at social interaction. That's not to say he didn't try, but he never seemed to make friends easily. Of course the whole demon thing along with his parent's consistent hovering didn't do much to help this situation either... but that's beside the point. In fact, Noah tried very hard throughout middle school to become friends with as many people as he could, but no matter how he switched his attitude or how many after school activities he tried out for, he never really seemed to fit in. In his last years of Jr. high he stopped trying. Being a people pleaser for as long as he was- as well as switching your personality so many times you almost forget who you really are- takes a toll.

He started to become distant from others. He closed in on himself, and the few interactions he did have were met with hostility, which in turn lead to many years of bullying. He had convinced himself that nobody really cared about him, and he would never be able to make someone care about him. However, in the back of his mind there was always some small amount of hope. Hope that maybe he was wrong. When the demon problem first arose, his parents moved to Wyoming, just as most people had decided to do. After about a year there, Noah began putting himself in dangerous situations in order to solve the mystery of the rise in the demon population in hopes that he could win people over. He went alone at night to explore nearby abandoned buildings to see if he could become possessed. He figured if he could solve the mystery of why the demons came he could earn approval from the people around him. He knew what these actions could result in though, and yet he didn't really care. There was one time he was close to possession, but his father- who worked in the church at the time- had saved him that day.

After that incident his parents had put him through therapy, and it seemed to help at first. In fact, this was where his interest in psychology began. Noah was very interested not in other people, but in himself. After explaining his interests to his father, he was the one to suggest to Noah to think about making a career as a psychologist at the church. His father explained the practices and experiments that were going on and made Noah promise to keep it a secret. Eventually Noah quit going to therapy and began focusing on school. Although he didn't notice it, he also began slipping into his habitual thinking patterns which again triggered his depression/ anxiety. Managing to make it through college, he eventually got a job in the church- and fully intended to become possessed.

Powers: Prophetic dreams/ visions. Noah is able to see into the future whenever he sleeps, and on few occasions when he is awake (Although these come when he is extremely tired). These visions may be able to change as the future is never set in stone, and the more these dreams plague him the more tired he becomes during the day. Affecting someone's sleep can cause increased irritability, dizziness, poor balance/ coordination, headaches, and in severe cases, even hallucination along with other side effects. He believes these dreams can provide immeasurable insight on possessions.
DEMON

Name: Barbatos

Contract: As long as Noah can provide insight to human's mentality, Barbatos in turn provides insight to demon possession along with prophetic dreams about the future.

Personality: Barbatos is very quiet, and that might have something to do with his lack of a mouth. Even with his ability to speak telepathically, he still doesn't seem to want to say much. When he does however, it's usually to taunt Noah or to try and fill his head with horrible thoughts of others (With occasional helpful tips on the inner workings of demon possession). Unlike Noah, Barbatos seems a bit too interested in other humans- In a bad way. He is constantly wandering what makes people tick, and how their lives (And Noah's) will end up...how they will die. The fact that Noah is a psychologist amuses Barbatos, as this is technically a job that requires getting into people's heads in order to help them. But he, unfortunately, want to use this to hurt others.

Appearance: Barbatos is a tall demon that stands at nearly 7 ft. His body is grey and gives the appearance of a dead body. His eyes are a cloudy blue color and he has other different colored eyes poking out from almost every surface of his body. Where a mouth should be instead is a black, gaping hole.

HOST

Name: "Sister" Mary-Anne Clarence
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Rank: Third-class, hunter specialization

Personality:
A woman motivated by religious piety. She attributes much of her strength to God and pursues only modest goals: to follow His commandments as written, and to defend the freedoms afforded by His country. ‘Sister’ Clarence is not sworn-in as a religious sister, rather has dismissed her given name in an effort to right the previous sins which, as she believes, led to her “corruption.” A self-appointed servant of the lord, she adopts strict vows of behavior, health, and speech. She is fastidiously organized and maintains herself with stoic calm. While she can be myopic in her concern over righteousness, she asks little else, if anything at all, from others. Clarence stands docile among the ranks of the Forces, accepting any and all orders given to her and receding behind larger personalities in the few times her opinions as a third-class are ever put into question. Is this the real Sister, or a projection? Indubitably the latter -- Sister Clarence is as much single-minded as she is stubborn, shrewd, subtly realist. She is also self-restrained with a remarkable amount of patience. Cross her, and she won’t lash out, but she will remember. Clarence clings onto an image of herself and the world and will continue to hold fast no matter how many holes are blown through it, no matter how far the mask slips. Put promptly, Clarence trusts no one in the Forces and sits seething on repressed emotions rather than form connections, waiting for her chance for redemption. For now, she does whatever she must to survive.

Appearance:
Clarence is a 5’ 4” Caucasian woman with a light complexion, brown eyes, and red, wavy hair subject to her own personal condemnation. Her face is more square-shaped and she has naturally long lashes. Her hair is cut short, slicked back and over her head. She dismisses more makeup and jewelry though her earlobes show scarred-over pierce marks and she does wear a simple gold band on her right hand. Creases around her eyes and brow line make Clarence appear much older than she is, more tired. Many of her features are describable as thin from her pursed lips to her fingers. Her body type as a whole is average though with a low waist-to-hip ratio.

Seal:
Something like a blackened brand on the inside of her left hand. The symbol consists of several other symbols or lettering of some kind, overlapped and faded to different extents to become illegible.

History: x

Powers:
-- The projection of concentrated, coherent light from her left palm, capable of piercing thin surfaces and dealing severe third-degree burn damage to exposed skin. It cannot slice fully through thick, layered, industrial material and requires brief cool down between uses. (This would be represented as a ‘one-time-per-post’ thing.) The more frequent the use, the more blackened the left side of her body becomes, threatening paralysis.

-- By clasping her hands together, she can surround herself and those in immediate range with a radius of “divine wind,” a telekinetic force that deflects physical dangers for up to sixty seconds. Ironically, this power seems to wind her. Repeated use is predicted to have a negative impact on her emotional health and ability to empathize.

HOST

Name: Eugene Ferrous
Gender: Male
Rank: (Not sure yet)

Personality:

Eugene is defined by his creativity, love of invention, and adaptive battlefield strategies. He’s also known for being a little unorthodox, in that he’s not willing to completely vilify the demons. Rather, he views their species with the curiosity of someone who delights in puzzling over questions with multiple answers.

Eugene has a fairly amicable relationship with Kilgenesh, though it is strained by the knowledge that acting as its host is painfully deteriorating to his own health. Still, he’d rather deal with this demon and it’s desire to hoard bottles of glitter than be possessed by a deliberately malicious one.

*WIP*

Appearance:

WIP

Seal: WIP

History:

Powers:

(Still Deciding on Powers.)

A few hours after the possession, Eugene began to experience headaches, stomach pain, muscle cramps, and a persistent tingling in his hands and feet. He has to take daily medications for heavy metal poisoning to prevent these effects from returning.

In addition, he often feels the compulsion to eat inedible objects (such as coins, pieces of brightly colored fabric, or the pages of a book). If that weren’t strange enough, Eugene occasionally finds himself coughing up strange coins and other objects that he has no recollection of consuming.

DEMON

Name: Nostefaru Zomokari Dragos Kilgenesh (Guess who got greedy and decided one name was not enough!)

Contract: Kilgenesh desires to indulge in the wealth of the human world. They agreed to cooperate with Eugene in return for receiving tribute. Luckily for SHF, the demon has very little understanding of the human economy and what is considered ‘valuable’ by human standards. This has led to the majority of his hoard including pennies, colorful fabrics, scrap metal, random artwork, as well as a collection of assorted books, record players, and DVDs.

Personality: Kilgenesh is fond of human culture, and prefers Earth to Hell. That said, there’s a fine line regarding their willingness to assist SHF in return for tribute, and their desire to be done with them so that they can spend more time gathering items for their new hoard.

As far as hosts go, there are definitely worse options available than Eugene. Kilgenesh isn’t in the habit of caring for others, but the human is useful and entertaining enough to be considered valuable. However, the demon feels no guilt over the damage its presence causes, nor would they willingly relinquish their host and be sent back to Hell.

Associated Legends/Lore: It’s said that Kilgenesh once amassed a hoard so large that it could no longer survey its collection without having to keep turning its head. Driven by paranoia, it swallowed its treasure so that it would be protected from thieves, within its armored belly. As a result, the demon grew so large and weighted with all of its possessions that it could no longer move. However, so possessive was Kilgenesh that the demon refused to relinquish it’s hoard, even as the eons passed and the earth rose to cover its body.

Kilgenesh is associated with precious metals, stones , volcanos, and earthquakes. It is described in the order’s ancient texts as a dragon-like creature covered with metallic armor, eyes glittering with greed, and with horns that form a crown. Different texts debate whether or not the creature should be depicted as a classical ‘western’ dragon with six limbs, a wyvern with four, or an immense serpentine creature with none at all.

Many stories featuring Kilgenesh involve young adventures searching for treasure, or falling into a pit that leads to the trapped Kilgenesh. Sometimes they must traverse over the lumbering giant without waking it, or venture into its belly in order to retrieve the fabled riches within. In at least one story, a lord had gathered so much wealth that the scent of gold caused Kilgenesh to stir from its slumber. The earth quaked and the Lord’s keep crumbled, but peace was eventually restored when the gold was divided between the peasants formerly working the land; no longer a temptation for the greedy demon below.

Appearance: A gigantic dragon-like creature.

*So I’m currently debating as to whether Kilgenesh should remain associated with fire/metal or if it would be more interesting to have him lean more towards a leviathan and water/ice/darkness.*

HOST

Name: Frankie Daugherty
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Rank: SHF

Personality:
Frankie has an extremist personality. He throws himself fully into whatever he commits himself to, whether it be work, a hobby or an ideology. At present, this devotion is reserved for his Christian faith. Upon meeting, Frankie will often appear incredibly pious, even prudish. However, a short fuse that has persisted in him since childhood will have him flip to dog cussing seemingly without his notice. Ultimately, whether or not his religious devotion is just another phase, Frankie wants what is best for humanity. He just lacks the emotional maturity to show it most of the time.

Appearance:
Frankie is 5'4" with a toned mesomorphic build. His skin is fair and spatters with light freckles in the summer season. A black and white old school tattoo of a cross covers the entirety of his back. His face has a round shape and ears that stick out. His hazel eyes and upturned nose overlook thin lips that chap easy. He keeps his sandy blonde hair shaved to a buzzcut. The facial, chest and back hair that grow in takes on a more reddish tint than the hair on top of his head. He typically keeps a close shave, buzzing his sideburns off, but every couple of days scraggly hairs will curl from his chin and neck.

Seal:
A mallet-like hammer symbol is branded into the flesh of his right wrist.

History:
Frankie did not grow up in wealth. He shared a 2-bedroom 1-bath mobile home with his parents, twin brother, younger sister, and their yellow lab. His parents worked wherever work was to be found, and they had a penchant for hoarding whatever items they felt could be of use in the future. This along with the modest size of the house made their home very cramped, which left very little privacy. Most nights, Frankie found himself sleeping to the sound of his parents fighting, or the sound of their reconciliation thereafter.

Much more than his twin, Frankie had a quick temper. At school, he yelled at teachers, and when he felt slighted, he fought with his peers. He cycled in and out of the school's behavioral program. He fell behind academically, which only escalated his behavior. When finally in the fourth grade he busted a kid's lip, he was expelled and forced to move schools. Now with the added confusion of working with two bus schedules for two different schools, Frankie often arrived late, or not at all. If his educational prospects were grim before, he now saw no hope in catching up to his peers.

By middle school, he felt completely disillusioned with the childhood he was living through.

While Frankie had friends, gravitating towards the kids who chose to sit in the back of class, his temper made most of these relationships unstable. The only constant in his life was his best friend and crush, Zach.

Zach was an even-tempered transboy sentenced to the back of class not for his inability or any exceptional home circumstances. Rather, he was hellbent on his theory that the school staff had been replaced by an alien race. He avoided elaborating on what their exact goal was, but he was certain whatever they were being "taught" was just a tool to keep them from the truth.

Frankie was never sure if he quite believed in Zach's theories, but he found discussing how Mrs. Collins' orange tan can from an alien incompatibility with the local water minerals much more inviting than slogging through her math problems he didn't know how to solve.

One night, the family dog, Rosie, started acting strange. They figured she was just sick and the children treated her accordingly, with Frankie's twin boiling rice and their younger sister forfeiting her pillow for the night to give their dog extra comfort. They awoke to a start, however, when they heard their mother screaming. Rosie had attacked her. The children arrived just in time to see their father shoot three rounds into Rosie. The children did not attend school for the rest of the week.

When Rosie had bit her, she had taken a chunk out of their mother's arm. The healing site was stubborn and wrought with infection that took long to heal. She swore her arm didn't work the same after that.

Frankie's mom fell into a depressive spiral. Without her share of the chores, the house became even more messy than before. Trash littered sections of the floor, and the children looked to look for mold in their bowls before eating from them.

Their father began enforcing an 8pm curfew, short showers with the twins showering together, and no air conditioning for weather below 90 degrees without explaining why. Frankie tried staying with Zach, but his parents resisted most days, believing Frankie was a bad influence. If either of them were influencing anyone, however, it was Zach impressing on Frankie that the aliens were behind Rosie's attack.

Frankie eventually learned it was antidepressants for his mother that his father had been saving money for. He couldn't tell whether she was skipping on doses or if they simply were no affecting her. Curiosity got the better of him and Frankie slipped one dry. He never found out how well they worked, though, because it instead made him horribly sick with nausea and a dizzy spell. He wouldn't experiment with drugs again until high school.

The quality of their house began degrading the next year. Appliances they couldn't afford to fix broke. The flooring became unstable and threatened to sink in. This was also the year, following yet another job loss, Frankie's mother killed herself.

By high school, it felt like Zach's conspiracies had come true in a way, after cases like that of Frankie's exploded on the news. Demonic possession was declared the disease plaguing their country.

In their despair, they and their friends played hooky and tried various drugs. Frankie found shrooms were his favorite, and he used them in an excess none of his friends could keep up with. He wasn't caught until junior year. The rest of high school imitated his early school experience of being in and out of behavioral programs, but this time with juvie.

It wasn't until he was caught as an adult and spent six months in prison that he seriously considered quitting. He was alienated from his family and had a dim outlook for his future. He was released on parole, where he started his career in a corporate warehouse.

Things felt they were looking up for him for the first time in a while. Then a demon possessed and killed four of his coworkers, and the warehouse closed down. His parole officer put pressure on him to find another job fast. Instead he violated curfew to find a plug, and before he could land another job, Frankie was back in prison for use and breaking his parole. This time, his sentencing would not be over in just a few months.

Frankie spent the next several years of his early adulthood in prison. After a couple of years his friends, even Zach, had stopped visiting.

Feeling utterly alone, Frankie begged for repentance to a God he hadn't thought about in a long time. Long-buried beliefs resurfaced, and Frankie put all of his energy into leading the most faithful, Christian life he could. If he was killed in here from yet another demon possessed inmate, he knew he'd at least have salvation secured at the end.

The Holy Force regularly paid visits to the prison, tantalizing inmates with their promise of good pay, job security, and health benefits. Frankie decided it was his newfound holy duty to join, and committed to joining the SHF upon his release without a second thought.

Powers:
Frankie was lent the power of heightened strength. As his contract is new, the full extent to this strength has yet to be discovered. For now, he has proven to be able to lift 500 pounds, 80 pounds more than the average male lion and half the weight of a grand piano. His punches can easily break down brick walls. However, his skin is just as vulnerable to scrapes and abrasions as anyone else, and when he pushes the limit of his weight, or the duration at which he can hold it, his muscles tear.
DEMON

Name: Karu

Contract:
Drawn to Frankie simple-minded sense of justice, Karu chose Frankie as his vessel as an extension of his job in escorting the dead. In return for lending him his strength, Frankie must bring an end to those he comes across attempting to cheat the fate of their death.

Personality:
Karu is no-nonsense and businesslike. He speak formally and rarely with malice, but he is not above intimidation when he feels the need calls for it. Karu thinks in black-and-white. He does not give to emotional or moral appeal, and he does not care for how things "ought" to be, but rather puts his energy towards enforcing what he believes to be the way things are. He is lawful, shortsighted and stubborn. He believes order is essential, and had he a mortal life, would very likely lay his down in the name of preserving it.

Appearance:
A mighty humanoid towering at 8' height, Karu is an imposing figure. His skin is a steely blue, with large, jagged black scales covering his shoulders and scattering over most of his biceps. The first noticeable quirk to his appearance is the size difference between his arms. His left seems to be of human proportion, while his right drags the ground and is roughly the width of his torso. The end of his right arm congeals into one massive, fleshy, boxy stump. Less noticeable is his mouth, which resides in the palm of his left hand. His lips are thick and pink. Beneath are snakelike fangs and a forked tongue. He brings this hand to his face when he speaks, as there is no mouth on his face.

Karu's face it carved with a sharp jawline, a strong chin and high cheekbones. His long nose is hooked and his ears are pointed. Embedded under his brow ridge are his two eyes, which give the appearance of simmering blocks of charcoal. His face is long, and with a tall forehead, his hairline seems to recede a little. From there, straight, thick, dry tufts of black hair sweep down to his waist.
