Fantasy Academy for the Dark Arts / Lore (WIP)

Characters
Regis Sageil
Regis Sageil is the founder of Sageil Academy for the Dark Arts. Regis is a Sage: an ancient race of humans who are savants in their predetermined fields of study. Regis happened to be a master at the dark arts. Regis kept his past and history a secret when telling anyone, but a few stories slipped through. At birth, his parents, two mortals, knew something was different. He was born with green hair for one, and he came out nearly able to walk. As he grew up, Regis was far more smarter than other children. He had to be home schooled after he was already reading far above his age level. Soon after, he started learning his own spells. That's when his parents were really shocked. They didn't know what they had given birth to. It didn't take long for the secret world to figure out about Regis, or whatever his birth name was. Ministers of Magical Law came to his parents and negotiated the adoption. Regis was "adopted" by the ministers in the human world, but in the secret world he was taken to magical academies for learning.

Although this was a long time ago in history, the capabilities of the secret world were extraordinary. They had devised theories the human world would discover half a century later. Regis received the education he required, and began to grew, knowledge-wise, exponentially. Inevitably, during his university years, he discovered the dark arts through ancient readings. He inscribed his first rune (tattoo), a fire rune, and had instant and mastered control. The amount of runes he would eventually have spanned across his entire body, and all the way up to his neck. He kept his dark arts learning as a secret, for the dark arts was not a registered field of magic. When he graduated university, he went on to master the dark arts to fulfill his Sage desires. In this period of his life, at his young adulthood, he would found Sageil Academy for the Dark Arts. The academy was no stellar learning center as it is today. He was able to create it in a castle he was granted through a supporter. Through the academy, the Dark Arts became a recognized field of magic, and the school grew doubly.

Throughout the rest of his life, which is not much longer than a human's (the longest living Sage was almost two-hundred years), he refined Sageil and made it into a proper academy for higher teachings of the dark arts. It became the most diverse academy with policies protecting inhumans with magically-aligned skills. It soon grew to one of if not the largest dark arts academy. He eventually died at the turn of the century, and left behind a legacy of education and discovery. Historians would always wondered what happened to the Sages after Regis died. Some believed he was the last living Sage of his era, and another one wouldn't be born for another hundred or even more years. Some even wondered if Regis had an lovers, and even had offspring.

Regis is long dead, but has left a lasting legacy and effect on the academy. Most of the campus has been dedicated to the former headmaster, and he is still beloved by many of the professors and staff that have come to know him. There are theories that Moira and Regis once held a passion for each other, but the stories of Sages and Phoenixes loving one another have always end in tragedy or death.

Moira Geist
Moira is the current headmaster of Sageil Academy. Moira is a Phoenix, a inhuman with the characteristics of a phoenix. The Phoenix race is an immortal race that has undoubtedly the most powerful fire-related magic powers. Moira is a former alumni of Sageil, and was a master at the Path of Fire. The most notable trait of Phoenixes is that went they are mortally wounded, they regenerate and are reincarnated five to seven days later. Moira has been living for almost a thousand years, and she has regenerated three times. Each time she comes back as a different version of herself, as in with a slightly different appearance. In this regeneration, her hair has turned white, but her eyes still remain a fiery orange.

Moira will not be around for most of the roleplay, but will inevitably play a large role later in the roleplay. For now, she will only intervene if a disaster among students occurs, or a large calamity is created.

(The character list will expand shortly. These two are the most important for now.)

LocationsSageil Academy
sageil.jpg
The Academy takes up 700 acres of the remote German forests close to the city of Zurich. The campus is an an ancient castle converted into a full-sized academy. The castle has been renovated countless times to keep up with the century’s technology, and the castle has been added onto with the growing requirements. The center of campus and the majority of classes reside in the Old Keep. The Old Keep is apart of the original structure of the castle. Most of the rooms were converted into classrooms, lounges, or dormitories. Floors separate the different types of rooms. The New Keep is a relatively modern style of university building, one with a early 20th century style, that houses new and improved classrooms that can accommodate more dangerous styles of teaching. It is half the size of the original castle, and houses only classrooms. Lectus Dormitory is the largest and oldest dormitory on campus. Built shortly after the original castle was built, the dormitory houses most of the entry-level students, and some upperclassmen who enjoy the atmosphere of the old building. Vallur Dormitory is the second oldest, and was built around the time of the New Keep. Vallur houses a wide variety of students, and is the second largest dormitory as well. The third and newest dormitory is Sage Dormitory. It was built in the mid-20th century to commemorate Regis Sageil and his peculiarity. Sage was built to accommodate peculiar students who attend Sageil. Inhumans who may not be attending for the actual magic itself, but for the support and equality that the academy offers. Some of these inhumans are akin to magic, but there are some who aren’t. Those who aren’t may attend classes to become assistants or companions to future magi.

The Black Forest
1c571fa7d9ba1223ae242027adabc11a.jpg
The Academy itself is protected by a magical force field that separates it from the human world and the secret world. There are thousands if not millions of locations around the world protected by this ward that prevents normal humans from seeing anything of the secret world. Inside this ward, some of the Black Forest has been transformed into training and proving grounds. These include arenas for spell battles, openings used for spells with an effective radius, and even non-magic zones that allow for students to relax and not worry about spell casting or danger. Outside of the ward, it is still prohibited to cast spells and make your inhuman abilities known, but hiking and exploring is allowed. Anything outside the secret world’s wards must be treated with the same level of secrecy as busy city streets.

Nearby Towns and Cities
The human world isn’t strange to many students. In fact, quite a few were humans born with the innate power to cast spells. The situation of Germany calls for the need to have entry-level students to take German lessons, or have prior knowledge of the German language. Students are free to explore the nearby towns and cities, but they must follow secret world laws to stay within anonymity. Inhumans must use natural disguising abilities or spells to blend them in, and to make them appear human. There are plenty of small villages to visit in the area, but be sure to not wreak havoc on the unsuspecting humans.

Inhuman RacesThe first three races listed are ones with a NPC character to give an example of the race. The first two are playable, while the third is not. After the first three are races that do not offer a character as an example, and are playable.)

Nightcrawlers
nightcrawler.jpg A Nightcrawler is a reclusive race of inhumans. They hail from all over the human and secret world, and are probably the most stealthy species of humanoids. Their dark blue skin and feline-like feet allows them to sneak around in the dark quite easily, and if it requires them, their invisibility ability allows them to sneak almost as easy during the daytime. The race remains mostly androgynous in appearance. Both genders look relatively the same, and are only different in a few specific areas. A Nightcrawler's claws and tail can be one of their most useful and handy weapons as well.

Pictured: Yvin
Yvin is a second-year Nightcrawler student. He is a male Nightcrawler, but has been mistaken for a female many times. It is rare among Nightcrawlers to be able to cast magic, but Yvin was born with the innate ability. He cannot cast complex or advanced spells, but he can cast the basics and some advanced spells. Yvin is a quiet guy who is most likely keeping to himself in the hallways or in the back of classrooms.

Succubus
succubus.jpg The succubus race is not much different from what the human world makes them out to be. They are a near human-like race with natural beauty and the ability to seduce humans. Most succubi have twisting horns, beautiful faces and bodies, and overall attractiveness. The succubi race has had to control themselves with the growing human presence. Humans are becoming more and more aware, so the succubi have to find ways around humanity's awareness. If you hear stories of a man going out to the bar to possibly hook-up, and he doesn't come back the next morning, it is possible that was the doings of a succubus.

Pictured: Lilith (Lily)
Lilith is a residing resident of Sageil Academy, and isn't taking any magic-related courses. All the magic she knows are the incantations she was born with. She is a peculiar succubus. She has the horns and the beauty, but she is one of the few succubi with a set of sharp teeth. Academy professors believe it is because of a succubus in her ancestral timeline possibly mating with a different inhuman race, which could've led to the other differences Lilith has from other succubi. Nonetheless, she is still a very outgoing and persuasive person. She's more playful than seductive, and refuses to fall into the succubus stereotype.

Ancient Ones
norikami.jpg This race of god-like inhumans used to rule over the human race until they began to evolve in thought. It was much easier for them to control humanity when they were afraid of what was different. The Ancient Ones now float through their existence, occasionally interfering with human life, and often ruling throughout the secret world. This race of superior humanoids follow their own code of ethics that hold them back from conquering and taking over either of the two worlds. They come in different forms, but the most common is in a human-like body with intricate markings and a peculiar skin and eye color.

Pictured: Kodaimono (Kodai)
The term Kodaimono roughly translates into "Ancient One." in Japanese. The island nation is where Kodai hails from, as he used to rule over a few villages on the island. Kodai is much older than the academy, but he chooses to reside there because of the atmosphere and the freedom he has there. Kodai may appear as a twenty-something human male in the human world, but he prefers to remain in his natural form. You'll most likely see him walking or floating around the campus grounds. He is mostly a solitary creature, but will watch over and even offer advice to the students or inhumans he takes a liking to. Although he is an Ancient One and has god-like status, he humbles himself and rarely calls upon his powers.

The Seraykozha race of inhumans come from the snowy and dark country of Russia and even into Eastern Europe and Asia. The name roughly translates to "grey skins" in Russian. Stories of these tall and grey skinned humans have always been told around the fire. They were infamous for raiding early settlements, kidnapping and killing, and even hunting the hunters of the snowy tundra. Their infamous history soon came to a rest once the human race started to advance and move deeper into Siberia. The Seraykozha had to go into hiding, and hunted humans sparingly. Most of the Seraykozha stay tribal and remain in frozen environments, but they have been allowing more and more to go on pilgrimages to the cities of the secret world, and to even integrate into society.

The Seraykozha sometimes give birth to ones who can cast spells. These are called the Khayn in their language, and are often treated as shamans and powerful chieftains in their tribes. The Khayn of the Seraykozha are some of the most powerful natural mages in the secret world, but need patience and plenty of time to master skills, as the race is not often patient enough.

(Most pictures of dark elves will work for the Seraykozha. Preferably ones with lighter tones of grey and black or grey hair. I will be making a Seraykozha character, and I will provide an image of her so anyone who wants a character of this race has an idea of what I want.

Similar to Phoenixes, the Piltius race are fire-wielding inhumans who come from desert landscapes. With their pale skin, fiery hair, and eyes like the sun, the Pilti were once a tribal race that stayed hidden in their desert villages and underground cities. Soon, they brought themselves out of hiding and completely integrated into the secret world. They can cast other spells of magic alongside fire, but they are naturally born with fire casting.

(If you wish to have your character play a Piltius, try to get a character image that is of human with red hair.)

The Atan is a race of near-human race of inhumans with dark-colored skin, lush black hair, and often attractive attributes. Atans are, on average, taller than humans. Similar to the Seraykozha, they were once a warring and tribal race of inhumans, but soon transformed their entire race to be less aggressive towards outsiders. The Atan have some attributes that differentiate them from normal humans. Atans are born with special and unique etchings in their skin; almost like tattoos. Like
some races of inhumans, the Atan have a select few that are born with magical abilities. They still remain a very battle-oriented race, and often incorporate spell casting into their battle regiments. In the secret world, the Atan remain the world's protectors, and they take up over 50% of all people that are apart of secret world security forces.

(Anyone with dark-colored skin and black hair could fill the role of looking like an Atan.)

Another illusive race of the secret world Inhojd. These strange creatures are more illusive then any inhumans that were in hiding, but soon became recognized by the secret world. They originally hail from the central Asia and into the mountains and deserts of Southern Asia. The Inhojd are usually never seen without wearing their masks. The race is entirely masked, and almost no one has seen their true faces. The only physical traits the Inhojd are known for is their different colored skin (which can range from a pale purple to a dark and muted orange), and agile body frame. All of the Inhojd are born with magical skills, so they are some of the few inhumans who are all born with innate magical abilities.

(Make sure your characters, if you choose this race, are masked and always masked. That is the main requirement for this race.)
