Despite the surfacing of the hellgates, ardentia is a vast and beautiful place. Many of the uninhabited places are left untouched. Vast forests, winding roads, hundreds of small towns, inns, mountains. A diverse and rich environment ripe for adventure...And treachery...

Marx the Infernal Dark Summoner

All was well in the peaceful village of Watermouth. The sun had set not too many hours ago and the moon was at it's fullest in the sky, gleaming like a jewel in a sea of tar. The villagers slept soundly as families curled up in their soft beds, the hearth's fire softly crackling in the commons room as a reminder of their continued comfort and safety. Despite the talk of demons invading and pillaging the land, none had come close to the village or any of the other settlements near it, not even Goldenview, which was only a day and a half's horse travel away. In their sheltered slumber, the village people had grown complacent with their relatively easy and simple lives. Wake up, tend the farm, go to the market, perhaps make a trip outside the village, go to the tavern if you were a lad that could hold is beer and then return home to the family which you love and cherished. Indeed, it seemed like an everyman's utopia, nothing could ever hope to change what these people had built for themselves here.

Except a demonic force of such pure concentrated evil that every sleeping body was immediately plagued with nightmares upon it's arrival.

Streaks of fire burned coarse lines into their fertile fields as the Trailblaze came to an end upon the village outskirts. There was no wall to stop the horde of flame wreathed creatures as they ran freely through the ex-utopia, cutting down what few guards had been standing to attention and smashing down the doors of frightened homeowners that had just awoken from the most ghastly and terrifying night terrors. Demons with six arms and claws tore through mortal flesh as the humans screamed in agony for mercy. Fires licked up the wooden structures hungrily as their homes, their market, their tavern and their farms were soon reduced to nothing but smoldering cinders. Already the trademark cracks in the ground grew wider as monstrous teeth began to protrude from the edges of the doomed village, all but prepared to drag the poor human's heaven down to the depths of Hell. None could escape as those that tried helplessly stopped short of the large gnarled blood-stained teeth that had now reached 10ft high and still rose higher.

And through the smoking dusk, a dark red being that emanated an overbearing and overpowering force of dark energy emerged, his very aura striking fear into any mortal or lesser demon that got close to the point that they froze, paralysed in terror. A wave of inextinguishable fire flowed of the land behind the being, seemingly following him. It had started all the way back at the first HellMaw he had exited from, slowly spreading towards Goldenview as it burned away everything, leaving the earth behind desolate and infertile. Villages, forests, fields - nothing was safe from the all-consuming hellfires that trailed behind the Demon Lord as if Hell itself was following his command. A blood red sword materialised into the First Circle Demon's outstretched right hand and the satanic being raised the sword in the air menacingly. Immediately, the mortals that had died begun to stir and move ever so slightly. And then the very blood was extracted from their bodies, flowing through the air like a rising river of red, balling up at the tip of the dreadful sword and being absorbed by it. The rune on its hilt glowed bright red with the sacrificial power that was entering its catalyst. It was enough to cast one of Marx's more destructive spells, perhaps enough to simply erase an entire village, perhaps not. It had been several tens of thousands of years since the Demon Lord of Unholy Creation Summoning had stalked the overworld, he had not endeavoured with mass destruction and murder as he was now in such a long time, the feeling was almost familiar to him. Truly, the Demon Lord was a gloriously horrifying sight to behold as he lay waste to the lives of the poor village's people and his army cut up and burned down their families and homes mercilessly. And it was only more mortifying to learn that this was only the beginning.

(Feel free to come and attack me whenever you want, guys. Just don't expect to be all that successful. xD)

Wolfveheim the Mouth of Lords

ww_gray_logo.jpg

In the northern regions of Abroad, the fourth demon lord and oldest slumbered. Sleeping atop of mountain that was edged into the clouds as the massive wolf-like creature gripped the sharp tip of the massive rock, he slept until a familiar smell hit his nose. automatically perking up, he growled before let loses a howling roar that stretched over all of the land. It sounded like a wolf but the rumbling echo of dragon or demon as the creature, felt it's body change and the roar got even louder before it suddenly stopped completely.

The monster looked down before he cocked back his fist and slammed it down, every living thing could see that the mighty mountain.....crumbled. A massive wolf then leaped off the crumbling stone and rock before it slammed into the forest floor causing a earthquake that was felt everywhere, it growled as it then ran in the direction of the smell of blood. It ran into a village under attack by a horde orcs, as the Wolf jumped into the centre of the destroyed town, a roar bellowed as it then went insane. Dismembered bodies littered the entire landscape as annihilated builds that burned large sources of blue fire and slash marks that went miles away from the town where  edged into the land. The Creature stood at the centre, covered in blood before it released a yell unlike anything before "MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARYX!" The monster known as Wolfveheim charged it's way through the land to meet his brother.

Miles later

Mayx would hear the familiar sound of roars and trees getting knocked down. Bursting out a patch of forest was Wolfveheim with a corpse of a couple demons in his mouth as he stood towering over many of the demons in the area, he walked forward towards Maryx as he cracked his neck causally while he finished eating the bits of demon that was still in his mouth. Looking down at the younger lord, he crouched down before a blood-stained grin covered his face before he then said "Hmmmmmm, good to see you as well little brother." he stood up before he walked to the circle of the destroyed village and unleashed a ear shattering roar in the direction of Goldview, He knew that the town would hear his message to them and the demons would hear a sound they almost forgotten.

Marx the Infernal Dark Summoner

Lowering his uniquely monstrous sword as the glow of the rune died down, Marx turned to the side slightly to see a path of trees get sent flying as the steady sound of heavy footfalls echoed throughout the burning village. Eventually it was Wolfveheim, the Mouth of Lords, that showed himself to Marx, leaping high over the hellish teeth that surrounded the village to come to a stop at his side. Growling a greeting to the Demon Lord of Unholy Creation, Marx responded by inclining his head slightly in acknowledgement, replying in his twisted, echoed voice, "Wolfveheim... It has been centuries... At last can we further the domain... and influence of our home... Together..." His staring eyes swept around the village for any resistance and soon found none. The villagers had been completely caught off-guard and had no defences whatsoever. The few guards they had were dead and everyone was too in shock or frozen with fear to retaliate or flee, although an hope of escape was blocked by the gigantic teeth that made up the edge of the HellMaw. Marx's demons from the 6th and 7th Circle continued to run about, slaughtering the rest of the survivors and destroying anything of value. There had been no notable brave souls to sacrifice, so Marx decided that they would move on soon to the next settlement. The brute of a demon, the more courageous human that the Demon Lord had converted into a 5th Circle demon, still stood at his side, crushing the body of a small child in his hand like a stressball as blood seeped between his fingers. The other 5th Circle demon that had acted as Marx's second-in-command had being flying about with his wings, cackling menacingly at his good fortune in accompanying the Infernal Dark Summoner in this crusade. He snickered at how easy it had been to decimate this place, "What weaklings, they are, what weaklings! Not even one brave soul to sacrifice! Not even one! What weaklings!" Marx ignored his two 5th Circle demon servants, addressing Wolfveheim again, "We approach Goldenview... Rapidly... My armies shall destroy that city... I ask of you that upon our arrival... that you ensure no mortal scum is allowed to bring harm to me... The Great Dark One has a mission for me... One that I must fulfill..." And he Demon Lord said no more on the matter, staring off into the blood-tinged smoke and listening to the agonised wails of the doomed mortals. Yes, a mission. He was to destroy the last of the mortal's resistance. He was to take something from them. A plan to forever bring about darkness and destruction to the universe. And it all came down to if Marx could deliver.

@LB58 (just a heads up, I will be moving to the next place to murder in my next post)

Wolfveheim the Mouth of Lords

Wolfveheim looked down as he watched Marx's army taking care of the humans that hadn't died, they were all surprisingly low circled demons ranging from the 5 and 6th demons. He hearing his "younger brother" speak about what the two of them were going to do, he let out a small laugh that then turned into a massive hollering laugh as he knew what kind of things Marx wanted but he stopped as Marx continued to talk but he stopped his laughter as Marx spoke one word....The Great Dark One. he hasn't heard that name in a long...long....LONG time, he roared in excitement before he said "This is Perfect. My Blade isn't worthy of these weaklings, see you there little brother!" He then slowly walked away from Marx before it turned into a full blown run that then blew the sound barrier as he decide to go up ahead and wait for Marx's to catch up while he just slept.....What. He likes Sleep.

Marx the Infernal Dark Summoner

Watching Wolfveheim passively as he blasted off in his usual larger-than-life manner, Marx's gaze swept around the village one last time. All the buildings had been destroyed and all the people had been killed. There were no worthy sacrifices and his army had finished ransacking and destroying anything of worth. Indeed, the place had been reduced to literally nothing but rubble and ash, something that mirrored very closely to what some parts of Hell looked like, except in Hell there were more demons and fires everywhere. Unless it was Marx' part of the First Circle, then it was simply one long large continuous area of constant fire and lava veiled in his own magic. Various demonic minions roamed about, challenging and killing those who entered uninvited. Protected and hidden in the Hell-flames was Marx's fortress, where he kept many magical and ancient books, demon minions and weapons. He had even taken the liberty of creating an interdimensional connection between his personal armoury and his Satanic Summinomicron so that he could summon the many great artefacts of the old world and Hell. And of course, it meant he could summon some of his pets that he had been keeping for a long time now, ones that he had specifically created himself to fit certain purposes. Many of these purposes was war and simply killing things. These days, they would certainly have their uses as the Demon Lord waged war on the mortal realm itself.

Deciding that he was done here, Marx raised his hand again and drew the glowing red sigil for the Trailblaze spell above himself. His army got into position and soon also gained the effect themselves as Marx cast the area-of-effect replication spell, passing on the Trailblaze's effects to them. A moment later there was not a single living thing in the decimated village, just a few hundred perfectly straight lines of fire reaching off into the distance and plenty of dead bodies in their wake.

Earl Hamlin the Ally Killer

(Marx's Starter Boss)

knight_slashing_by_shade_of_nekura-d3k6pi3.jpg

A rowdy army of humans happily cut their way through the demonic landscape, felling monsters with their glorious swords and lengthy pikes. They were so cheerful in their slaughter fest that you might have thought they might have been going out for a picnic. These incorrigible humans unknowingly marched towards their deaths, heading right into the path of a first circle demon lord called Marx the Infernal Summoner. All of them thought this was another walk in the park, since the demons they fought were so weak and squishy.

Meanwhile, the leader of this band, Earl Hamlin, was using his sword as some sort of scythe, slashing the demons below him as if they were made of grass. He was a towering figure, a biblical Goliath in the flesh, and he wore a spectacular suit of armor that made him impervious to most attacks. The demons were relentless, coming in endless waves at the army while the humans repelled every single attack made on them.

The army numbered a thousand or so men, armed with various melee weapons. Two hundred of them were armed with crossbows, whose bolts could puncture knight's armor. Most men were armed with padded leather jackets that made them harder to kill during close combat, while fifty men wore a full suit of steel armor that effectively turned them into the medieval equivalent of a tank. With all this equipment, the humans demonstrated impressive defensive abilities, and they were so confident in them that they continued their advanced despite repeated assaults on the army.

Earl Hamlin didn't bring his super carnivorous plants as of now, leaving them in his castle. For now, he thought he'd take his men out for another raid, this time taking them far east since they never ventured out this far. You can imagine their surprise when they discovered the local villages burnt to the ground and the entire realm was set in flames. There were no villages to plunder in sight, and everybody was desperate for some loot. Perhaps they could find some people to rob if they went poking around the ruins.

So here they were...
