Aartlohva an Alduur

Forboding_Angel

Lady of the Night
So something important first: I'm in the middle of rewriting all of this. I haven't updated it in like 8 months so its due for it. Its only a half dozen pages or so total, so not as impressive as some lore I've seen, but its still no easy task. This here is going to be kind of barebones while I'm working. Fear not though, there is enough behind it that it won't be a shallow group to play against.

Taatma an Alduur, jva Sh’lomvhaan anjya Iivahd Rajvai

Translated: people of Alduur, the children of the great mother. Often shortened to Alduur (I wrote the language and I still trip over pronouncing it sometimes).

Avg. Lifespan: 150-200 years (200-300 earth years)

Appearance: Two and half to three meters tall, humanoid. Their features are often described as both mildly reptilian and feline. When I built this race someone pointed out they were actually very Na’Vi-ish (minus the blue) which is a lot easier to explain to people. Other important distinction is pointed ears that are not as thin or prominent, and a different handprint (Na'Vi have 3 fingers, 1 thumb. Alduur are 4 fingers, 2 thumbs.)

Notable attributes & capabilities: Distinct hereditary patterning, excellent low-light vision

(this area is in shambles in my normal pages right now so bit skimpy...)

Aartlohva an Alduur

(Empire of Alduur)

Government: hybrid monarchy/republic

The Alduur Empire is governed at the planetary level at the discretion of the planets. Individual worlds often maintain small military fleets for police action, however the bulk of the empire’s military force is under the command of the royal government which has authority over all worlds. Imperial master law governs anything considered to be universally necessary, as well as interstellar interactions. The royal government is a large parliament of planetary representatives, political advisors, and chiefs of state organized around a central monarch. The emperor’s power is considerable, but not absolute. The parliament can make decisions by majority vote in his/her absence, and can overturn decisions by three fourths majority. The royal palace and parliament building are situated on the capital world of Tiir in the star system of Sviirma Rajvai (translated: the mother’s cradle).

Aartlohva an Alduur was once a vast empire in a galaxy long out of reach. In the First Age, they faced off against many great adversaries, and turned an adversary to a friend. Even with the most powerful ally imaginable, the gravest threat would come and battle them to the edge of existence. In the end of the First Age, the Alduur would be forced to flee the homes they knew and loved to take refuge amidst the void, travelling through the darkness searching for the light once more.

In the Second Age, they believed to have found it, being welcomed by another race sympathetic to their plight. For a short time they were strong friends and allies, their fates seemingly intertwined forever. The golden days of the Second Age were short lived as a vicious rebellion yet again tried to tear apart the Alduur people. Once again they fled to the stars to find a new home.

Now it is the Third Age, the prophesied End Time. Aartlohva an Alduur has grown mighty again, its reach and presence ever growing. But dark forces stir around it. An enemy long thought gone wakes from the darkness. Alduur’s isolation leaves it vulnerable. It is said that knowledge is the greatest weapon, but no one knows if it will be powerful enough to hold back the greatest terror ever known.

Am'reth Sisters:

Both of Alduur royal blood, the sisters together control most of the empire. Kristina has held the title of Aartlass an Alduur, Empress of Alduur, for 53 years. She was the youngest person ever elected at the time, and now has one of the highest popularities among the previous aartvahnas (translated: emperors). Her sister is appointed to head of royal security and to chief of defense, granting her a more direct control over the Alduur military forces. The two have almost never needed to call upon large scale military deployment since coming to power.

Kristina Am’reth

107 (159 in human years)

Position: Aartlass an Alduur, Empress of Alduur

Psychological profile: Sometimes referred to pseudo-jokingly as “ice queen”, Kristina demonstrates a profound ability to ignore the emotion of a political situation. Her plain objectivity and relentless determination makes her a natural politician, a trait forged through decades of ruling an empire. Though her diplomatic disposition gives the impression of an unfeeling, sometimes difficult to deal with individual, Kristina is a much softer personality when not pigeon-holing other diplomats into whatever her and her parliament collectively agreed upon. She can be outgoing and generous when she wants to be.

Attire: Being the head of a state of one hundred twenty seven billion people, Kris tends to look the part, almost always dressing to impress. She lets her hair grow out long, down past the small of her back and usually keeps it let down, or in some ornate braid. At the request of her sister, her dresses usually conceal a sidearm as personal defense, despite the occasional protest where she claims it's unnecessary. She has unusually bright eyes, appearing as an amber color, matching her warm toned skin. She also has small off-blueish swirl patterns behind her ears (rarely seen through hair) and at the outer corners of her eyes.

Katelyn Am’reth

89 (134 in human years)

Position: Head of royal security/chief of defense

Psychological profile: Katelyn is undeniably the more fiery of the two. While her sister sometimes comes across as cold, she always does so tactfully. Katelyn lacks that skill, proving to be quite opinionated and abrasive. Kate’s expertise is not with diplomacy, but instead with military arms. She also has a major overprotectiveness of her sister, despite being the younger one. Her loyalty and her swift & decisive, if frequently violent, solutions to dangerous problems are strong attributes for a chief of defense to have.

She is less two-faced than her sister. Her disposition does not change nearly as much depending on who she’s dealing with, making her more blunt and direct. Among the many military hardasses she deals with regularly, this has had little hindrance to her, possibly even been beneficial.

Attire: Katelyn's complexion is a bit grayer than her sister's, an immediately noticeable trait. Her hair is also a thick dark color and gets kept shorter and pulled back most of the time, rather than left down. Kate also does not wear expensive dresses nearly as often. Her choice of clothing is more functional, most of it being tailor made to conceal varying thicknesses of ceramite-composite armor. Where her sister only carries a single weapon some of the time, Kate carries two almost all the time. Her sidearms are spec'd to military standard and are not always concealed. Her position affords her few limits for open carry. Katelyn has similar bluish-gray patterns, but hers are more forward, coming around the ear and also over the top of her eyebrow slightly.
