Fantasy A Pirate's Life For Me (A Pirate RP) CS

Kyon

The Straight Man
A Pirate's Life For Me CS
  1. For this RP, I don't mind if you use a realistic or anime faceclaim. It's meant to be as creative as you want!
  2. Furthermore, if you'd like to be a fish person or some other humanoid type creature, just clear it with me first. You most likely won't be denied, but I want to make sure we don't have a whole ton of one type of character. Gotta keep a little variety
  3. Characters won't have superpowers unless it's something mild that goes along with the character, assuming they aren't human. Again, just clear it with me.
  4. If the roles get filled up or you think of a role that isn't listed (i.e. swab, cabin boy, etc.), send me a message and we can figure something out!
  5. All characters must be approved by me before posting IC
  6. Have fun with it and don't be scared to be unique!
Here's a quick rundown of the crews and roles you can fill. Let me know if you have any questions about them.

EDIT: There are new available roles not listed on here! Message me either on here or on Discord for some information about them :)

Age: 19
Gender: male
Appearance:04d1616b250807f3d850bafa01ea1969.jpg
Role: powder monkey
Ship: Tynedale
Personality: Lysan is a bubbly, ditzy, somewhat incompetent half merman aboard the Tynedale. Being a merman means he loves the ocean, but he also loves humans and how they sail around looking for treasure. Lysan himself loves sparkly things so being a pirate is right up his alley. Lysan is a gentle being and is quite polite. While the crew of the Tynedale get up to no good, Lysan does not participate in their misdeeds. When the Tynedale docks or is adrift at sea and not in immediate peril, Lysan enjoys swimming in the ocean around the ship. He never strays out of sight though, for he's a bit dumb and might get lost. The ocean is big after all. Lysan, despite being a merman, is much slower at swimming than his kin, though much faster than most other creatures.
Background: Lysan was actually born to a pirate father and a mermaid mother. Lysan's father sailed away not long after he was conceived and only a few months later was Lysan's mother blessed with a surprise. Lysan was happy in his pod with the other merfolk, but when as he aged, longed for the company of pirates. He felt closed off from a part of him. The pirate part that longs for sailing the seas and enjoying the comradiery of sea faring folk. So when the Tynedale came to his small cove, Lysan said his goodbyes to his pod and sailed out with the ship.

Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance:
1618728009144.png
Role:
Firstmate
Ship: The Tynedale
Personality: Yaquin is what others would consider too serious as they tend to be more cold and logical than those around them but they also tend to be one of the more intelligent members of the crew. They typically tend to be quite cynical of others and they typically tend to be incredibly blunt with things, they don't make a habit of getting into others business unless they figure it may affect them. They typically tend to be very open about things if you just ask and is even willing to offer logical advice to others if they are willing to talk with them or they find it to be information that they need to inform others about. They typically hate making decisions though and will typically go to others to make the decisions for them, they are very loyal to the person they deem in charge to a fault and are more than willing to do whatever is said of them as long as they consider it a order. They hardly ever show any emotions though typically being very stoic, which typically makes them seem like a calm figure who wouldn't even bat a eye if a explosion was set off a few feet behind her. They typically tend to think ahead and will list all the things that could go wrong with some dictions and what would likely happen if it did work in order to make it so that people think more carefully about their choices.

Background: Their father worked as a scribe while their mother took care of their home teaching them things like Management, how to read and write and mathematics. But Yaquin also took a interest in sword fighting and shooting, going on to learn those things in their spare time. Though one day when she was training with their mentor, she ended up killing him by accident in one of their sessions, much to the horror of one of the witnesses, who was about to report her but got shot in the back by her before he could. She opted to get rid of both their bodies and find a group of pirates who were originally privateers, and joined their crew in order to leave their island, plus they figured it was very profitable as well. Name: Antonio Brannon

Age: 23

Gender:
Male

Role: Captain

Ship:
Tynedale

Personality:
Antonio, commonly referred to by his crew as Tony, is a fun-loving, thrill-seeking captain with no fear and no doubts about his or his crew's capabilities. His demeanor can often be found very intimidating, not because he's scary or menacing, but because he keeps a smile on his face no matter what the problem is. He can be completely sarcastic and hotheaded, never taking no for an answer. He tends to be very blunt and straightforward with his intentions, but his tongue can be very slippery and slick. After all, he is a pirate. His ambition and willpower can often get the best of him, which is why he's so delicately chosen Yaquin as his first mate, often being the only thing keeping his tenacity in check. He cares for his crew and tends to be very lenient with them, although he won't have any tolerance for traitors or disrespect. Don't take his kindness for weakness.

Background:
Tony had always been a daring and clever child. He was always a trouble maker and a fire starter. He often found himself bored and lost in his imagination. From the first time he ever heard of the Aronim Jewels he promised himself he would be the one to find them. The life of a pirate had always been so fascinating; bending the rules, fighting, exploring, discovering. It was all so exciting! At the age of only 17, he snuck his way aboard a trading ship called The Tynedale. He slept in a barrel half full of gunpowder for months, watching the crew aboard the ship and studying their navigational skills and companionship. Tony looked at their weapons, swords and flintlock pistols, and slowly hoarded a collection of supplies. Over time, he rigged the ship with rope snares and traps. He fashioned himself a little pistol out of a piece of pipe and flint found on an island The Tynedale landed on. He loaded that pistol with a round made of a rock and gunpowder and, when the time was right, began his solo takeover of the ship. Sailors were bound by rope, hanging from the ceilings and the masts of the ship. Others were pushed off the sides one by one on foggy nights. The ship was soon believed to be cursed. Before long, only the captain remained on the ship, locked in his quarters with a flintlock pointed at the door for three days. On the third night, a knocking was heard at the captain's door, to which the startled man immediately fired his only shot at. Slowly, the door creaked open to reveal a young lad, Antonio, holding a piece of pipe. "Goodnight, cap'n," said Tony, raising his weapon and firing a rock into the captain's head. This began the story of pirate Antonio and The Tynedale.

Skills:
Cunning choice of words, flattery of women, gut instinct, and an excellent pickpocket.

Weapon:
A short flintlock rifle a long dagger.

Other:
Always keeps an extra knife in his boot for emergencies.

Name: Evangeline Vera Rosingrave 1618885818812.png1618887851312.png
Nickname: Eve, Ange, or Vera
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Role: Captain
Ship: The Endeavor
Personality: For Evangeline nothing is to far out of reach. If you want something go get it. Believe you should have something? Obtain it. Cant get it? try again. Fail? Do it again, get off your ass. She is also very cutthroat and is not afraid to cut people down for her own needs or wants or her crews needs. They all came first. Though it might not seem like this at first, normally she acts polite but she is just figuring out how to sway you to her side and get exactly what she wants. She is a very chaotic being always looking for a little bit of fun on the side and its not uncommon to see her hanging out with her crew and doing some of the jobs with them. She loves them like family.

She is also a huge drinker and its normal to see her drinking as she used it as an edge to not beat the ever living fuck out of random people. Also a huge sword lover and likes the idea of sword fighting. Her speech normally comes off as sarcastic and snippy or maybe bitchy it really depends on whats being said. She also has no problem responding to anything and is not slow to process things. She is quick witted. Also owns a rather large dog named Tiny Nibbles.

Background: BRRR W.I.P CURRENTLY SORTING IT OUT

Skills: With about any weapon there is a good chance that Eva knows how to use it to a basic extent. She is a skilled swordsman who excels in technique and agility. She is also rather stealthy and you will most likely not know if she pickpocketed you or if she is sneaking up behind you. A stupidly high tolerance to the cold and the ocean. Wording a situation to how she wants it to flow and getting what she wants.
Weapon: Two small daggers tucked into her boot and a very prominent sword strapped to her waist. A gun is also strapped to her thigh.
Other: She has a brother named Lexis who is the First-Mate on her ship. Her huge dog is her baby so if you hurt it she will hurt you. She sleeps with a knife in her hand.

Lexis.png
Lexis Van Rosingrave

Age: 27
Gender: Male
Role: First Mate
Ship: The Endeavor

Personality:
For Lexis everything is a mechanism. All the little parts have to be in working order and operating effectively. This is because he’s secretly a chronic overthinker and every smallest little detail must be in line for Lexis to feel at ease. To the outside eye he's a very reserved and polite individual. But a lot of the time his monotonous nature can come across as sarcastic and it is hard to decipher whether he has an attitude or if he's just blunt with his observations. He can be intense and a perfectionist over things that don't quite matter to most people. Despite this monotonous portrayal and aura of quiet intelligence, Lexis often says incredibly stupid things. Figures of speech will go right over his head as he takes it far too literally. In the occasions he does not understand something he will stand idle and await an explanation. Or just stare intensely till he figures it out. Things that don't seem realistic he is adamant to prove wrong, as it relates back to his need for mechanisms and how they work. Is quite prim and proper despite being so internally chaotic, likes if the crew has a bit of standard with their behaviours and doesn't tolerate too much fun. He appears aloof but the male does worry a lot. He's not heartless and would see himself as a good person in comparison to the pirate counterparts. Bit of a hero complex and a very sore loser.

Background:
Me and Cello still doing our big brain WIP for this lmao please return in 3 to 5 business days

Skills:
- If someone needs to find co-ordinates, best place to anchor ship, easiest sailing routes, then they should hope Lexis is around to read the maps. He's good at manoeuvring a boat through rocky terrains, shallows, and even uncharted waters.
- Efficient with handling guns.
- With his mechanical working mind he’s very good at fixing things. Or breaking them. Depends.

Weapons:
- Two flintlock pistols
- Rapier sword.

Other:
- The Captain of The Endeavor is his younger sister. Which sucks.
- Lexis has a habit of keeping parchment and graphite on him to take notes. Has scrawl handwriting that is difficult to read.
- Hates pirate lingo.

Rat
Evill (1).pngAge: Looks mid to late twenties. Might not be. Will not be telling you.
Gender: Male
Role: Rigger
Ship: The Renascence.

Personality:
Creepy, is the easiest way to describe Rat. Everything he does has an element of weirdness to it. The way he speaks and moves, to the way he habitually climbs things and slithers out of seemingly nowhere to join conversations. He's childish and troublesome, those with a temper may find themselves getting angry very quickly around Rat. He relishes in the activity of teasing and riling somebody up despite the threat of consequences. He will poke the bear with his hand, not a stick. In situations that require social norms he's also a bit lacking, runs his mouth freely and has zero concept of personal space. Acts more like a horrid pet dog than anything else.
When engaging in serious situations Rat is much the same. In the moments he is angry or frustrated, it is never for a valid reason. He has mood swings that are set off from highly unstable emotions, and does not express much of anything outside of glee and anger. Rat also doesn't have many morals (if any), so exhibiting sadistic behaviours is easy and renders him a good match to The Renascence.

Background:
His feral nature was already in place before joining The Renascence. For most of his childhood, Rat was a street urchin, spending his days thieving and living off what he could scrounge from others. He went through several jobs (not all he's proud of), at one point landing himself working down by the docks. But his greed for valuables prompted him to a life of piracy. Stealing from market stalls and boat cargo was no longer enough for him, therefore he signed up to join a vessel. For some years this was fine and went smoothly until they encountered The Renascence. The ship and crew he was with were decimated. In fear of dying Rat then pledged loyalty to The Renascence and cursed himself to the boat. Oops.
Any inquiries about his history or personal business will be answered in blatant lies, fabrications that change each time.

Skills:
-
Rat is an excellent climber, easy for him to scale almost anything. Balance is no problem and it's not uncommon to see him up in the masts doing his bastard deeds.
- A very fast & lithe individual. It can be hard to keep up with and easy to get overwhelmed by.
- As the rigger, Rat is good at handling ropes and knots. Gives him a slithery talent of getting out of binds.
- Being annoying.

Weapon:
- Two long bladed daggers
- Blowpipe for darts.
- May or may not have 7 little knives hidden on him. He will let you check just for the attention.

Other:
- Will be going, 'nyehehe' often.
- Hobby for lying.
- Does not like anyone touching his hair, sets him off quick.
- Angry drunk.

1618959356032.pngName: Nathair Kaius Grey1618959386138.png
Nickname: Nate, Kai, Siren, Fish Boi
Age: Looks on the younger side of twenty but he will not tell you his age.
Gender: Male
Role: First-mate
Ship: The Renascence.
Personality: Dumb Rock is the best way to describe Nate. Not the smartest fish in the sea and very slow to realize things. You can say something to Nate and he might not understand it for a full day or two. He also has a very deep love for the sea and likes to randomly dive off the boat and swim with it, also one not to get sea sick. Nate is very hard-headed and stubborn so its hard to change his mind even if he is dumb. Due to this though he is incredibly loyal and will stand by your side till given a reason not to, even then there is still a good chance he will. Nate is also a very violent person and always one ready for murder or fighting. He thrives in this kind of situation and dont let him get ahold of you underwater. Also doesnt mind bossing someone around and is always ready to pick fights or arguments with the crew and make himself look innocent. Loud and very rowdy.

Background: Nate was born to a Siren mother and a human father. His father was never a figure in his life and died due to "mysterious" reasons. Told to never question it. His pod lived off the coast of a island located near Hellsmount. They were notorious for killing sailors who crossed into their waters. He learned to sing though his voice is not as haunting or as loring as his fellow pod mates, he was still responsible for multiple deaths. Nate once wasnt careful enough while swimming and got caught, being pulled onto the ship just thinking he was a big fish. Thats where he first learned when out of water he could transform into a humanoid like thing. They taught him how to sail and how to do various jobs aboard the ship. They werent a bad crew either, just out looking for fun and money. He sailed with them for about two years before his ship was cannoned down by the Renascence. Not wanting to die or return to his pod he swore an oath to them and joined them on the ship. Little did he know what he was in for but he stuck by his word and to his violent nature, earning himself hand picked as First-Mate.

Skills: Nate is a very fast swimmer and has better eyesight in the dark than normal humans due to being siren-born. Even being the big walking tank Nate is, he is a rather graceful and slippery being, very fast as well. If you need something weird there is a chance he has it as he collects things, so come to him if you need anything. Good at ordering people around. He also has a very deep and haunting voice that drew sailors in for a different reason.
Weapon: A deep green trident strapped to his back. A dagger tucked into his boot in case of emergencies. And a pistol strapped to his waist.
Other: The spikes in his Siren form are razor sharp and barbed. Very deadly, do not get cut by them. He happens to drag his 's' and 'r' sounds, also his English isnt the best.

Rikki Ellison
Nicknames: Call him “Blondie” and he will cut yourikki.jpg
Age: “I don’t see how that’s important.” Twenty-four
Gender: Male
Role: Powder Monkey
Ship: The Renascence.

Personality:
Rikki is someone difficult to get along with; he has a very intense and passionate nature and is always searching for trouble. There are times when he will lie just to lie, it's out of habit more than anything. Though you can almost guarantee anything about feelings would be a lie unless the emotion is anger. He doesn't quite get how to process emotions very well and it can overwhelm him if something does manage to work him up in another way besides making him mad. Not that this often happens with his aggressive nature.
"Fists are always a viable solution."
However, he does hold a certain way with words though and, if he wants to, can be quite charming; which is what he bases his manipulation on. Though many might still be wary as he seems sketchy and mysterious, he likes using that attitude to lure people in, as those who stay despite feeling there's some danger are easy to prey on. He takes joy out of flirting with others, seeing it as a game, a hunt to him.
While generally unpleasant unless putting on a facade, Rikki does hold the rest of The Renascence crew in high regard, likely never to be admitted out loud, and thinks of them as his family.

Background:
Oftentimes, you don't choose to get into piracy. Rikki was one of those unfortunate souls. Back when he was a young boy, a ragged bunch of pirates had invaded his town. He was sadly picked up as easy cheap labor into being a powder monkey. It was a dangerous job after all, and so stealing someone like that made everything more cost-efficient. Rikki spent his years biding his time, surviving despite the odds against him.
The disposable child was growing up, beaten time and time again to keep in life with his growing anger. He learned to hide his malice, to seduce and manipulate. Until finally, he got his chance.
Rikki didn't care to ask why, but the Renascence sunk their claws into his captor's ship. He used the chaos to his advantage, a dagger equipped that he stole from a late-night escapade with one of those disgusting bastards and used it to backstab the captain in all the confusion to exact his revenge. Perhaps it was what led to Yip allowing him aboard that very ship, standing above a mangled body. That despite being human, the look in his eyes was devoid of any humanity.
"Are you strong?" He had asked, voice coarse from limited use.
It did not matter to him the outcome of that question. Both of his goals would end in satisfaction. He'd either fight them to the death right there or join and quench his bloodlust elsewhere. As long as it meant freedom.
Despite working as what he was previously imprisoned to upon the agreement, things were not the same. This wasn't slavery, it was home. Over the past couple of years he acclimated well, made his standing as a useful member of the crew.

Skills:
-Handling explosives
-Hand-to-hand combat
-Can do stick-and-poke tattoos
-Talking out of his ass

Weapon:

-Anything that goes boom
-Cutlass on his side
-Brass Knuckles (Used any chance he can get for some hands-on action)
-As many throwing knives he can find and hide on himself

Other:
-May be a pretty boy, doesn’t mean he’s not dangerous
-Gives himself tattoos and piercings
-How has he not died from infection? Idk

Name: Zephyr Ingrams
Age: Twenty.. Two. No, Twenty seven. No wait- hmmmmm. It’s somewhere in the twenties I think.
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Zephyr has bright red, green and blue parrot wings jutting out of his shoulders that are gold underneath. He usually walks barefoot, which shows off his grey and black bird feet that have shiny black talons on the end of them. His fingers, though more human than his feet despite their equally grey color in comparison to the rest of his human skin, also have black nails that are often quite pointy. He's got an olive complexion and gold eyes and wild brown hair that might have the slightest red tinge to it. He usually keeps a red feather tucked behind his ear. He has a wiry frame and is lanky and tall. He wears white pants that have plenty of pockets with a bright blue belt-sash and... Yep that’s it. If it’s a really important business venture then you can probably convince him to wear shoes. Maybe.
Role: Rigger
Ship: The Endeavor
Personality:
Curious and just a little bit scatter-brained, Zephyr is a very alert guy that is excellent with dealing with all kinds of ropes. It’s pretty apparent that he’s not the brightest bulb with just a few minutes of talking to him. He has a bad habit of going very off topic, repeating words and phrases that his conversation partner say to him, and getting completely distracted because he saw something super shiny and a few odd habits here and there. But he also is pretty good at following basic directions he's got that going for him.
Background:
Well, if you can get him to focus for long enough to give some kind of explanation, it sounds like he’s a half-harpy that got none of the true battle perks of being a harpy and instead just got bullying and a life on the streets. Somewhere along the way he joined the Calvary to get all the shiny shiny shiny treasure from the stupid stinkin’ pirates. Though, to be completely honest, he’s more of a mercenary than altruist. The Cavalry - and therefore the Endeavor - just happened to be the highest bidder.
Skills:
He can grip things with his feet, fly, and has a much larger field of vision. He also can climb with ease due to his feet. He also knows a lot about shiny things, and usually has a grasp on what they’re worth.
Weapons:
He has twin daggers, one is white, the other is black. They’re usually fastened to his hips
He has two black and gold flintlocks that he keeps strapped at his chest
He can also slash people with his feet and hands, though these usually just create small scratches, .
Other:
Zephyr uses his daggers to eat with. He does not use utensils or his hands, it is always either his feet or his daggers.
He has a small trove of treasures:
  • A coin. Foreign.
  • A silver spoon
  • A piece of tinfoil
  • A glittery rock

Name: Marceau Aurelia
6be3c6f6ae14061c0b52c96144ca5532.jpg

Nicknames: Mars, Marcy
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Role: Rigger
Ship: The Tynedale

Personality:
Marceau comes off as a bit patronizing and disingenuous in conversation. He is just used to speaking in a more formal tone than may be appropriate. He has difficulty connecting with others outside of the Tynedale crew. Marceau is able to keep his cool in most situations except for romantic ones where he becomes a love-struck fool.
Marceau takes pride in his position on the Tynedale and can be found in various places within the ship maintaining its upkeep. He often devises new and innovative methods aimed to improve efficiency… some of which are too ambitious for their own good.

Background:
(WIP)
Marceau was born into a bureaucratic family. His father founded a trading company which quickly took off. The rising popularity allowed his father to marry his mother who was a noblewoman. His mother’s wealthy family background combined with his father’s business skills made the trading company very successful and let his family lead a cushy life. Because of this, Marceau grew up somewhat sheltered from the outside world.

Skills: Amateur MacGyver, diplomatic conversation, agile and able to maintain balance in high and unstable places
Weapon: Boarding ax, flintlock pistol
Other: Unable to hold his liquor (becomes a silly, delirious, honest drunk), carries a book filled with sketches and blueprints on his person

Name: Yip
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Appearance:
older_imp_girl_by_thefreakypanda_decxui8-fullview.jpg
Role: Captain
Ship: The Renascence
Personality:
Yip despite her size or perhaps because of her small statue (only standing in at 2 feet tall) is a ruthless anger ball of a woman, she does not take people ignoring or refusing her lightly often times damaging the person in question, their shop if they own one or even their family, even to her own crew mates if necessary. Because of her need to constantly collect gold, jewels anything of worth she is scarily efficient often always going in a simple route of demand money and if they give it leave, if they don't trash them and take the money anyway. Her temper is very much a big problem for her and her crew, to put it in words some people have said in hushed whispers that her temper is shorter than she is, this combined with her ruthlessness makes her scary to piss off and even worse to make an enemy of her.

Because of her background and fighting with her sibling sins, she's had to adapt to an obvious but somewhat unique mantra for herself and that is to be Tougher than the Toughies, Smarter than the Smarties and Sharper than the Sharpies. Basically this means that she is meant to be able to take more hits, incredibly intelligent and meant to see the angles that others might not see at all.

Background:
Yip was not born necessarily but more created and summoned onto the mortal plane, she along with her other six siblings all represented the seven deadly sins, for Yip, she was the personification of Greed
Skills:
- She has the comparative strength of a really strong human
- Yip has a prehensile tail, that she can use in a fight or steal things
- Yip is an extremely dirty fighter using anything and everything to win in a fight including the fact she is only about 2 feet tall
-Can actually swim decently well for her size
Weapon:
A comparatively massive hammer called Reasoning
Fists
Horns
Dagger
Other:

Name: J. Auguste Cortes
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Auguste is ridiculously tall and muscular. He has icy blue eyes, yes, and a scarred face and a scruffy beard. He also has wavy dark hair with a white patch in it that he keeps tied back most days but when he fights, he lets it down and it gets into his eyes and makes him all the more frightening as a figure. He has a surprisingly graceful and animalistic way of moving, and a deep voice.
Role: Swordmaster
Ship: Endeavor
Personality:
Auguste has two sides to him.
The side he generally shows is awkward and a quiet disposition. He’s very kind, even if he looks absolutely terrifying. He can be rather soft spoken and is in general, a gentle giant. Once he starts opening up to someone, he becomes incredibly loyal and fun. He loves animals and generally will make friends with every animal around him including enemy dogs and seagulls if given enough time.
However during battle, Auguste becomes filled with insatiable bloodlust and a terrifying sadism and an extremely quick fuse that will sometimes lead him to even attacking his shipmates if not directed properly towards the enemy.
Due to this, he really prefers not fighting if he can get away with it and instead is very content with doing maintenance and grunt work on the ship, like keeping people's blades sharp and clean.
Background:
Auguste grew up as a wild child living among the wolves. He believes personally that he had some sort of siren blood in his bloodline that doesn’t really manifest as anything particularly useful except he’s good at utilizing his voice. A tavern owner drew him in over the years with the promise of food and shelter, even giving him his name, only to sell him to pirates to settle a debt. His ship that was transporting him to his new owners was taken over by pirates, and he was taken for hard labor. And they were very short staffed, it was a very small crew, so he began fighting for them in exchange for not being shot in the head while being raided by another pirate crew. However, he was then used as a bartering chip, because he still wasn't exactly free yet, in exchange for his crew's life at the hands of the Cavalry. And so, he was put to work on the Endeavor.
Skills:
  • Auguste can “talk” to animals. He understands animal behaviors that it’s like a second language to him.
  • Auguste picks up on languages quickly
  • He can mimic voices surprisingly well and has a gorgeous singing voice.
  • He’s an excellent fighter with most any weapon that includes a blade or blunted club or just him punching something over and over again (he’s not very good with guns and hates using them)
  • He’s very strong, both from working on ships and also growing up in the wild.
Weapons:
  • Four throwing knives strapped to his chest
  • Two cutlasses strapped to either side of his waist
  • A knife at his thigh
  • A dagger across his back at his hips.
Other:
Despite his general love for animals (specifically dogs and wolves), he doesn’t want to adopt one while he’s still a pirate because he wouldn’t want it to die in a fire fight.

Name: Maerin (is an alias. Family given name is Yaelyn but he hasnt gone by that since)

Age: 20 something not sure.

Gender: Cis man he/him doesn't care tho

Appearance: about 5’11”, kind of wiry musclewise, almost curly shoulder length chestnut hair. Tanned, some tattoos and scars (one running from the left side of his face to halfway down his neck. Thanks mom). Tired bags. Sexy abs lol. Freckles. Nose that looks to have been broken once or twice. Crooked smile. Forever stubble <3. Here’s something pretty similar but obvi not exact:

Role: I think we said medic/woodworker? I feel like he would have accidentally gotten enlisted during a drunken haze where he bullshitted about being something he's not, and to this day he still isn’t sure what he said and who or what they think he is, so he just goes with it and hopes they don’t notice how bad he is at his job.

Ship: Not sure yet!

Personality: Incurable flirt. Charming? Roguish, sneaky. Lies a lot due to not knowing who he can trust or where he currently is, also a lot of times as a joke that's too convincing so he just has to keep going with it. Drunk a lot, doesn't really sleep enough. Very intuitive and usually pretty aware of what’s going on at all times. Countered by the fact that he is so very clueless as to how the fuck he gets himself into every situation he encounters. Is pretty good at assessing situations and engaging only when he’s sure he has an out and a quick getaway. That ability is altered by alcohol or rage.this may seem like a bit of a contradiction but hush. Surprisingly a lightweight.

Background: Maerin is the son of some important political figure or smthn, but some shit went down and basically, they dead. He started to find out some things about his family that were, less than favorable and very objectively bad. He is sent on a business trip and comes back to a really overwhelming confusing time.
  • Insert Curse and ghost stuff?
So, mom tries to kill him (leaves scar eyy), they struggle, he shoves her away, she tumbles down the stairs and impales herself on the knife etc. he cryin, looks up and boom ghost kid. Now hes stuck with him. Can never not see him *details about ghost in ghost stuff?* and he can hear him and talk to him. He’s an annoying prick who likes to make his life a living hell. Basically just actualized intrusive thoughts a lot of the time.
So he ends up accidentally burning the mansion down (and really burns his hands in the process, now always wears gloves because bad memory eyy), people spread rumors about what happened and now he’s on the run. So currently on the run, and under a different name. Started taking odd jobs for money, doing fights, stealing, being a general charlatan. He grew up being surrounded by kiss ups and politicians/nobles or w/e, so he’s a pretty smooth talker and charismatic, and knows the intricacies of how that shit works and exactly how to exploit it.

Skills: Good with his hands. Very dexterous, quick on his feet and has fantastic reflexes. Very stealthy and has great slight of hand. Can hold his breath for, a while. Also a fantastic bartend. Not very good at woodworking or being a medic, but fantastic at lying and making people think he knows what he’s doing. Has a lovely voice and can be caught singing to himself. CAN DO FLIPS. Good at hand to hand combat, has a lot of stamina.

Weapon: Give him a tankard and anything pointy and he’ll do what needs to be done. Tries to use his fists mostly, but will use daggers if need be. Tends to avoid killing if he can and will use something blunt to knock you out if the option is there.

Other: May have had intercourse with Rikki at one point. Also is terrible at remembering names. Just god awful at it.

Mosely
faceclaim.jpg
Name: Mosely

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Appearance:
Disheveled and knotted hair is pushed about by large goggles. A plump nose peeks above a black bandana. Whether or not it started out as black is debatable. Splotches of color appear on the rest of her clothes, but they are covered with powder and dirt and various substances. She stands at 5' 3", though her slumped posture knocks her down a few inches.

Role: Powder Monkey

Ship: The Endeavor

Personality:
She's brash, blunt, and excitable. While she prefers her own company, she has no qualms with dragging the nearest person into her latest "experiment." Which mostly includes acids, blunt objects, and "what can the average stomach handle?"

Years of gunpowder and smoke have cracked her voice, adding to her "looney" appearance. She is rather clever, however, and quick on her feet--making up for her battle skills. If you could call it that.

Background:
Mosely has no last name nor middle name nor two middle or last names. In fact, the origin story of her name is rather dull. She was found on a small cobble road with a rotting sign that spelled out "Mosely." Thus her name was unceremoniously given by the crew that found her.

Mosely's earliest memories were aboard a ship, being shuffled to and for and generally getting in the way. While the crew that picked her up meant well, they were thinking more along the lines of "stray pet" than "human child." So her next memories were of an orphanage. Which didn't last very long. It was a few years, but years are a series of blinks when looking back.

She had run off from the place, determined to find great adventures and evil dragons. But she once again found herself aboard a ship. Mosely was slightly more helpful this time, but ten times as annoying. For she had become very found of questions. Questions about rigging, questions about food, questions about guns and bullets and cannons--the cannons! She was usually kept away from the place where things went BOOM and dangerous black powder was stored, but nothing could stop her curiosity. Which led to a particular accident she prefers not to mention. And so she crept aboard a different ship.

Thus began her years of ship hopping, which never really ended. Faces blurred into each other and contacts would always die out. (It's hard to keep track of a roving sailor) However, her life became filled with wonderful experiments, loud bangs, and barrels of gunpowder. There even was a time when she was a hired assassin. Though it wasn't very successful. Have you heard of Billy "Ten Lives" Ratchet? The story goes that he survived ten different poisoning attempts, only to die in a fiery inferno of explosions. The blasts weren't even on purpose.

While Mosely's life has been chock full of ups and downs, there is only one truly important event--one particular crewmate who was rather memorable. An old powder monkey whose name everyone had long forgotten. There were dozens of nicknames for him, though. Mosely called him "teacher."

He was the closest thing she ever had to a parent. Which really wasn't that close, but it meant a lot to her. The old bag wasn't long for the world when they met. Her time with him was short, but meaningful. When he did pass, he left her his special pair of goggles. It helped him keep the dirt from his eyes and had additions that functioned as noise cancellation. He tried to add in a contraption to aid in hearing, but it never really worked. Mosely had the goggles resized for her. Once she put them on, she never took them off. Well. Rarely.

There was one last thing the old powder monkey left her: sentiment. It was rather irritating, actually. It was what drove her to sign up when the Calvary was enlisting. It was what made the treasures beyond so much more enticing. The sentiment gave her a goal, which she mistook for a "life purpose." And a life purpose is a rather powerful thing.

Skills:
-makeshift bombs (not necessarily useful when in the middle of the ocean)
-aiming cannons
-Messing around with various alchemical components (with minimal "accidents")
-decent with daggers and guns
-agile
-Good at climbing

Weapons:
Various liquids in glass bottles hang from her belt. Some aren't harmful, but others are dangerous acids, carefully wrapped of course. She has a flintlock pistol she wears when not ferrying gunpowder to and fro, and a dagger that she keeps hidden in her left boot.

Name: Cordelia Kiyoko Amana 1620076108332.png1620076162452.png
Age: 10
Gender: Female
Role: Swab
Ship: Bounces between the Renascence and the Tynedale
Personality: Cordelia is a bright and young child who is constantly looking to learn new things about the world or people. She has a little journal she cares around with her to document all the different people she encounters. Because she is constantly wanting to learn she asks a ton of questions and is almost always excited if you answer them. She is an outgoing and sweet child even with the most violent of crewmates. Kindness for everyone because who knows who needs it. Been a rough day? Cordelia will try cheering you up. Got hurt? She will try helping you feel better. Being able to turn the meanest people to an acceptable kindness for a couple minutes.

She is also constantly singing or humming and normally seeing climbing the ropes or doing her job. Fascinated with the sea and with people she tries to learn as much as she can about each thing, making her an excellent student. She is a very creative individual who is constantly coming up with new things trying to impress everyone. Lives with the mind set "Just because im little doesnt mean I cant do great things". She tries to be helpful in little ways to show how thankful she is. A very innocent being and doesnt really understand between right and wrong, this can be used against her if someone was to try and teach her to do anything bad.

Background: No one really knows where Cordelia comes from or who her family was. For as much as people know she is a child of the sea and the pirates that live on the waters. Cordelia was found by the Tynedale first when she was floating around near the docks of Hellsmount. No one near, just a child in a little box. She got taken in and started to grow up on the ship, quickly taking after the Powder Monkey, Lysan. Even from a young age Cordelia was pretty much attached to Lysan as she liked his motherly hen vibe.

When they were docked at one of the ports in Hellsmount, Cordelia had somehow snuck off the ship to go explore. She found something shiny and wanted to get ahold of it in her grubby little hands. She got lost and when trying to find her way back to the ship she ended up getting on the wrong ship. She got on the Renascence. Not knowing it was the wrong ship till they left the docks she was stuck on the ship. Which she didnt mind. It meant new people, and one of those people was Rat. Cordelia pretty much followed him around to the point where it was natural to see her by his side. Just like Lysan she saw Rat as a parental figure. Not a good choice but she did.

After a couple months they were docked again where they had a little run in with the Tynedale. Rest assured there was a huge argument over where she belonged and after a bit they agreed to swap off every time they ran into each other at the ports. Or every other month. Cordelia liked this because she could meet more people and all her old friends. And who didnt like friends! When Cordelia grew a bit older she gained a job on the ships as a swap and is always grateful and tries to help out around the ships.

Skills: Cordelia is a great swimmer due to being taught at a young age. She can also climb ropes rather quickly and knows how to tie knots. Being as small as she is, she can fit into really small places making her ideal to grab things for you. Singing, she actually has a really nice voice. She has rather good handwriting and can semi draw. Can make seashell crowns. Spitting at seagulls
Weapon: Still being young and clumsy, Cordelia doesnt carry any firearms. She does, however, carry a small dagger strapped to her waist that Rat gave her.
Other: She carries a little notebook and graphite stick every where she goes. Has a small cartilage piercing she gave herself when she was younger. Somehow earns the trust of many people. Rat, she sees as her father figure and Lysan as a mother figure.

Elizabeth Roth
Name: Elizabeth Roth
Age: 26eliza.jpg
Gender: Female
Role: Quartermaster
Ship: The Endeavor

Personality:
Elizabeth is an all bark and all bite sort of woman. She doesn't play games and would rather have it if everyone in the world would just be straightforward. However, just because she prefers this doesn't mean this is the behavior she expects out of others. She is often on high alert around strangers to get a read on if they are likely to lie and be a threat.
Work is probably Elizabeth's main reason for living, and can often be taken too seriously and needed to be shoved away for it occasionally in order to reboot and refresh the mind. Otherwise, she may begin to overthink and her brilliant predictions and strategies may become more off-balanced in nature.
As a general consensus, Elizabeth is a very dependable woman. This is what allowed her to secure her rank in a quick manner. Not to mention a family history in this line of business gave her an edge of advantage, which sometimes can lead to competitiveness. If she can be convinced she is wrong, sure, she will follow through, but at times that may be hard to reach through and she is not afraid to speak up when she has a differing opinion. The more you can back your thoughts by logic, the easier it is to avoid her scrutiny.
Some people may have some.... immunity to this. Such as Evangeline as her captain has proven despite sometimes more..... brash behaviors, she does know what she is doing.

Background:
I wanna see the captain's bg for more recent things and to get the whole story but usually, for past she goes into a role because of family tradition and having a knack for it with early training

Skills:
-Navigation
-Hand-to-hand combat
-Chess
-Lockpicking

Weapon:
-Dagger on non-dominant side
-Pistol on dominant side
-Ball bearings
-String (BOOBY TRAPS)

Other:
Rogue type character essentially.
