Fantasy a pirate legend (soapysobie & pigeon)

notsoaroundtown

inactive / accidentally made a double account
Leon stood aboard the Morningstar, which he thought was a wonderful name for his beautiful ship. Leon and his crew were headed for a seaside town that was rumored to be rather uncivilized. A place where his crew could lie low for a few days and get their feet back on land. They were about a day or two out now, it wouldn't be long before they arrived. Not compared to the months they go without even seeing land at times. In a town with no authority, it also made stealing a lot easier. Leon had no qualms against stealing from the poor, not that he spared the rich either. He found more pleasure in stealing from the rich, but the poor... Sometimes it was their only option.

"Captain, this is about as close to the direct route as well can follow. May I recommend a detour? A storm is brewin'..." His right hand, Lydia, spoke from behind the wheel just to Leon's right. Leon had his golden locks loose and around his shoulders and he was starting to regret it. He set a hand atop his captain's hat to keep it from flying off as the wind howled around the pair.

"And what makes ya say that?" Leon asked gently as he surveyed their surroundings. Nothing but sea. As he was scanning the horizon, he did a double take when he saw a small black dot on the horizon. He brushed his long trench coat aside to grab the handheld telescope attached to his belt. He lifted it up and slowly grinned at the sight of a ship on the horizon. An easy feat, surely. "Lydia, what do ya see there?" He offered the telescope to the red haired woman and she brushed her hair aside to bring the telescope to her eyes. She hummed and returned the telescope to Leon's palm.

"A ship fulla idiots if ya ask me..." She giggled and Leon returned his telescope to his belt.

"A small detour, aye? Set us on course." Leon nodded in the general direction of the ship and turned around to grip the railing at the edge of the helm, a small platform above the rest of the deck where the steering wheel was placed. "Prepare for a raid!" Leon called out to the men and women on deck, causing them to scatter like bugs as they prepared the cannons. "Once ya set food on that ship, take whatever you can find of value!" Leon ordered. It's not as if they didn't know the drill, but just in case.

A storm certainly was brewing.

Leon knew it wouldn't take the other ship long to notice the Morningstar's malicious intent. It was very obviously a pirate ship. If the black flag with the skull in the center didn't give it away, he was sure the general sight of the Morningstar would. Made of black wood, it didn't exactly scream innocence. The roar of the crew growing excited should be another indicator, he knew they could be heard over the waves. The Morningstar was quick and they were upon the ship in no time. It was definitely smaller compared to how large the Morningstar was, slicing through the water as it aligned itself with the ship.

"Cap...?" Lydia asked, one hand on the railing as she leaned over to look at his face.

"Don't fire unless needed. This ship looks rich and I don't want it to sink until we've done our business." Leon reached for his sheath and pulled a silver sword from his hip. It was long and thin, the blade was engraved with words that didn't matter right now. The hilt was made silver, though there was a black leather making the handle a bit more comfortable to yield. At the very base of the sword was a crescent moon shape, which was actually the handle of a blade hidden inside the hilt. Just in case. As soon as Leon gripped a rope and stood on the edge of his ship, the rest of the crew let out a war cry and started jumping, swinging or setting planks across the two ships. Anyway to infiltrate. Leon swung across and landed with a roll on the deck of the smaller ship. It wasn't a tiny ship by any means, it was just smaller than his prized Morningstar.
