Realistic or Modern A Matter of Worth [In-Character]

Kit Sanches-Martin
Location: training room, Nebula Brigade building

Kit watched with interest to see what the girl Mekanik would produce. She hadn't encountered many tinkerers in her time, but she found their abilities fascinating. Rogue made a jibe about not destroying the floor, as it was extremely expensive. Kit had a feeling that at some point she may end up doing just that by unleashing a crazy untested spell.

The way Mekanik worked was fascinating and Kit couldn't draw her eyes away from it. The way her tool changed shape as needed was intriguing. When she finished, the stationary seemed to be mostly unchanged. But appearance is deceptive.

The dart pen was useful if a tiny bit messy. The highlighter bomb left a few coughing, but Kit's mask kept her breathing clear. But Kits favourite was the short sword, even if the balance was a little off. It certainly looked the coolest.

Then Mekanik made what could be a joke about microwaving popcorn with a phone. Chris wondered "is she serious?" to which Kit couldn't reply. She had no way of knowing whether it was true or not.

The woman named Mercy then stepped up to take on Avatar, pulling a sword out and adopting a ready stance. This would be an interesting fight

Time: Time to spice it up
Location: The newly refurbished Madison square garden.

Madison Square Garden, a famous arena that held just as famous events. Today was just another one of those events, a title match between two renowned, undefeated boxing champions that's was being televised all across the US. So why would a old man who had front row seats be grumbling to himself with his arms crossed clearly unsatisfied?

Well you see after getting impromptu counseling from the world's greatest hero Eik managed to get into better terms with his great-great-great grand daughter Maria. However through some vile scheme that only Loki himself could have concocted with he ended up having to watch this boring show of two grown men slapping each other with some sort of hand pillows until one got knocked out or they ran out of time, with her boyfriend nonetheless! The only reason he wasn't blowing the whole arena to smithereens as if Ragnarok happened early was because he probably couldn't explain to Maria why her boyfriend is dead and he isn't.

Still as he looked around the old wizard couldn't help but feel pity for the poor, stupid, immature sods who could feel any sort of excitement from this over-glorified pillow fight. If there was only a way for him to show them true sportsmanship...

A smile rose on the old crone's face, a kind of smile that couldn't mean anything good for anyone involved...

Disappearing from his seat without being noticed and then reappearing in the center of the ring wearing a tuxedo, stopping the fight by extension. The old man took a deep breath before his now trade-marked thunderous voice resounded through the arena louder than any microphone.

"Ladies and not so gentle men, I, your new host, Supreme Sage, Eik Yfirgefin will shortly begin the show of a lifetime! But before that lets set the stage shall we!?" As he started waving his hands about and muttering runes into reality, the arena and the ring by extension grew tenfold, without any disturbance to the outside world. From the newly formed empty seats erupted ancient mythological beings of legend, Rowdy dwarfs, Cocky elves, Fat Thick boned giants, you name it it was probably in the audience now.

Looking around satisfied with his work Eik coughs before resuming with his thunderous voice; "For the first even of the night, in the left corner we have the undefeated reigning champion at Giantweight! Fast as thought, As durable as a mountain range! UUUTGARD LOOOKI!". And then as if on command, in the left corner appeared a somewhat disappointing looking blue average sized humanoid with a crown on his head.

"Who will be his first challenger for tonight?"

And while this was happening this was still airing on television.

Bleu-Blanc-Rouge [NPC]

Bleu-Blanc-Rouge stared at Mekanik's display of gadgets. He whistled politely when the pen went flying off at a fair speed, but he liked the sword-ruler the most.

She could make all of this with common items, in such a time? He wondered for a moment if he was looking at a prodigy.

"I'll get you into contact with Techno-Paladin. You two might get along," he snarked with a smile.

The French hero turned to look at Mercy in surprise when she drew a bladed weapon. Was she challenging him? Or rather, she wanted to demonstrate her fencing to a fellow swordsman? His fighting style relied on his enhanced state to allow him to defeat more skilled opponents as well as speedsters, so he'd have to be careful with her, unless she proved really good at this. His legs still throbbed a little from those rubber rounds and the flashbang still ringed in his ears, but he knew he'd have to hold back a little. Still, a swordfight is a swordfight. Might as well add some flair into it, right?

Rouge grinned, drawing his rapier. He held the sword parallel to his torso, in front of his body as a fencer's salute. "En guarde!" he declared and went for Mercy, sword held in front of his body and one hand behind his back.

He threw a swing and another one, diagonally then horizontally. He followed it up with a thrust, and then a flourished downward stroke not dissimilar to a confident move of a painter's brush.

He gave her a bit of leeway; made sure to telegraph every action, took a bit more of a swing than he technically had to in order to make a move to give her a time window for reaction, and purposefully slowed down his movements to not be much faster than an agile baseline human. It was rather obvious he was giving her the position to show off.

Mercy

"En...guarde?" Mercy puzzles over the curious remark but the French swordsman's aggressive start ended all conversation from her as she snaps her sword up, batting away his initial swing. His lighter, thinner blade is remarkably agile compared to her heavier length but it lacks weight which is its own advantage. If she isn't mistaken, he's going easy on her. Something she can appreciate, even as she can take advantage of it.

For she does, exchanging a dozen or more strokes, taking the time to see how he handles his blade, how he moves, how he balances his weight. Then she accelerates, faster than an agile human could, and then she speeds up further. Now it's Mercy who's being careful to incrementally increase the intensity of the fight, uncertain what the limits of his speed are, uncertain if he's truly faster than she is.

One thing she notices is his swordsmanship seems practiced but more or less an artifice of his reflexes. She's faced a thousand foes across the length of her sword over the centuries. Mercy is almost certain he hasn't. The environment of the combat testing room doesn't give her much to work with in terms of changes in elevations, unstable footing or other variables to turn to her advantage but she knows any number of fencing tricks. Time to see what he knows.

Clad in her robe, bright red with gold embroidery, Mercy and her sword soon become too fast for the naked eye to easily follow.

Bleu-Blanc-Rouge [NPC]

Noticing an increase in speed, incremental but impressive, Rouge matched Mercy blow for blow, increasing the effects of his power to see her swings as if someone normal was swinging their sword and even then, slowed down by a factor of two.

But then she sped up, far into the superhuman spectrum.

The blue-white-red hero responded in kind.

Adrenalin pumped in his veins, his pupils dilated, and before she could outpace him, the world slowed down. The people in the background stopped moving to his eyes, and his own breathing went dead as his body's reflexes went into overload; a superhuman nervous system processing, sending, filing, categorizing, and responding to the stimuli produced by Mercy's blade. A careful effort in engineering the human body to a different level that allowed him to match her fearsome velocity.

Air rippled, waves of distorted pressure flying everywhere and ruffling people's clothes and hair as his movements created slight voids and air rushed to go back in, only to race past the void's reach and go off into the room, not to mention all of the air that his rapier pushed. There was a sound with each of his swings, like a bullwhip crackling through the air. His sword and arm blurred and there was only blue, white, and red dancing around between him and her, and his own body became smudged, in particular, his feet, which kept re-arranging themselves at super-speed.

Kit Sanches-Martin
Location: Nebula Brigade building, training room

Kit could only watch as the two squared off, at first it was obvious that Rogue was downplaying his abilities and leaving tells and telecasting his moves. But Mercy matched him, strike for strike. And then an incredible thing happened, she began to speed up. This wasn't a battle as such, it was a test.

The two sped up, fighting faster and faster, becoming little more than blurs. Their movements were epilepsy inducing. The blades cut the air so fats they created wind, ruffling the hair of all the others in the room. "Who was Mercy? How was she so fast?" Kit wondered

She definitely had a new found admiration for this woman and would not want to get on her wrong side. She felt intimidated by this display of pure power before her. She felt that her magic would not be enough if they turned on her. She had to practice every spell for hours on end before she even cake close to perfecting it and these guys seemed so effortless with their talents. She was starting to really doubt whether she was suitable for this team.

Mercy

This man isn't a spirit or a divinity. At the least, his features lack the kind of reflexive superlativeness common to those of her home dimension. But his speed and reaction time are impossible for a mortal. They're also different from a divinity. For her, an increase in speed is the difference between opening a door slowly or quickly, it's a simple increment naturally handled by her physiology. If she were a river, it was the difference between a summer's day flow and snowmelt from Mount Meru. This Bleu-Blanc-Rouge's speed is more like a river held back by a dam, with a spillway sloshing excess until he needs more, releasing the floodgates to meet demand. It's a subtle difference but new in her experience.

She shifts, thrusts, pivots and slashes, indifferent to the increasing noisiness of their duel as her speed rises to meet his. Until it doesn't. Fighting at her utmost, Mercy swiftly realizes that as fast as her mental processes race now, he's faster. The dam, once released, unleashes a torrent greater than hers. He's not her equal in skill but where her swing is made from relentless drilled reflex, each of his is made with an inhuman calculation that acts as much as it reacts. That and her robe isn't entirely the most practical garment for a duel like this. It doesn't slow her much but at these speeds even a slight restriction adds up.

The consequences could be dire if they continue. If his attention to detail falters for a second, at these speeds, she might cleave him in half before she could stop herself. Or, perhaps more likely, she might make a mistake.

Mercy completes a swing that Bleu-Blanc-Rouge already began to counter before she began the motion. Then she steps back out of engagement range and sheaths her sword with the kind of easy motion instilled by performing this action 10,000 times.

"You're incredible," she murmurs and then bows deeply to the Hero. "I would enjoy the opportunity to practice with you, whenever you are in town."

Capture+_2019-05-02-19-47-31.png

After the group had gone through the portal and appeared in the training room it only took a mere moment for Yuudai to notice a battle between Bleu-Blanc-Rouge broke out. It was a test of abilities so he knew to step back. What was observed piqued the interest of Yuudai as the girl did seem experienced, with the way she postured herself and all. Then she took out explosive, Yuudai's eyes widening at the sight but before he could cover his ears a forcefield covered him and the surrounding people. He shook it off and quickly looked back in the direction of the battle. Seemingly the fight ended as quickly as it began, seeing as after the smoke cleared the fight stopped.

Soon after another girl came up asking if she could show something as well, which was approved. After that, the girl showed off three gadgets that were masked as school supplies. Yuudai furrowed his brows pinched his chin then tapped his foot on the ground, gazing off into space. The girl showed an impressive skill, being able to make weapons like that. It would prove extremely useful on missions that included stealth.

Yu looked up in mid-thought and saw that a sword fight had started. He was still a little out of it until a gust of wind snapped him back into reality. Yuudai tried to keep his eyes on the two but he was only able to give himself a headache the two showed incredible works of speed. It was inhuman but also incredible.

Bleu-Blanc-Rouge [NPC]

Rouge had always loved fencing, ever since he was a child.

His dad taught it to him, and it was his special little thing since then. A memento from his old man, which meant to him as much, if not more than his knowledge of military procedure and his entire career. Fencing was his meditation; a way to calm down, and a flag of skill to raise to ever-higher peaks.

When he was in the testing phase of the supersoldier program, when not all the procedures were done, and he was but a boy, he went around town dressed as a musketeer and fought crime - with oversight from his commander. Back then, there were still people who could match him in candid swordsmanship, but by the time the project was over, he already forgot what a fencer's duel tasted like. He'd fought speedsters faster than himself, but those typically used their fists - it's not quite the same.

Rouge's eyes undilated and blinked to clear away the remnants of his heightened state. He already knew what happened, but now that he wasn't processing his emotions at an accelerated rate, he could actually respond to what he felt.

His eyes took on an enchanted luster underneath the plexiglass cover of his helmet, visible even through the darkened tint: a look, between admiration and wonder; the French hero stood there in a daze for several seconds, until he blinked away and fully realized the talents of the woman who stood before him.

A swordswoman, and one who can match him; it really took him back, made him feel younger. He realized how much he missed out on in these years of constant training, tactics study, and follow-up improvements to his biology. Someone he could fence with semi-seriously? He realized the missing component - no speedster he'd ever fought used a sword. She did, and she could match him blow for blow even when he let his momentum snap loose.

Bleu-Blanc-Rouge stepped forward unflinchingly, sheathing his rapier with a flourish.

"I can say the same, mademoiselle," he said in a voice like velvet, taking her hand and planting a kiss upon it. He looked up at her and smiled. "Hardly anyone can match my sword."

This time, it was the Avatar who rolled his eyes.

"I haven't felt a rush of excitement of this kind in what has to be decades. Rest assured, I'll definitely come back for an encore!" the French hero declared excitedly with a chivalric bow of his own, sounding like he was a little boy who just got off a rollercoaster ride.

And then, Director Jepsen actually narrowed her eyes at the hero's revitalization, murmuring, "That's new. He doesn't usually get that excited..."

After Avatar apprehended Brick and the police was done with her questioning, Lilian climbed into her motorcycle. The engine roared as she turned the ignition key. What a relief it was working fine. She hit on the gas and started to leave for wider street, however, she was stopped by Carbon Dragon.

She was discovered after all. Lilian remained silent until the hero left for the alley once more. In retrospect, throwing the smoke grenade was not the smartest thing she could do. She could have hid better. She could have ran further instead of stopping for her motorcycle.

Lilian shook her head. There was no point in thinking of 'could have's. The motorcycle zoomed out of the alleyway into the street, joining cars and other vehicles on the busy morning. That was right, Lilian realised. It was only morning. She still had a whole day in front of her.

In her back pocket, a notification popped up in Lilian's phone.

The little blue planet, or Earth, was a very strange place. It had strange people with strange cultures, and apparently heating your coffee by slowly shooting a solar ray into it was considered strange. He still loved it though, as he was finally among the stars that he wanted to see for so many years. He often wondered what he would do here now that he was here, but before he could ponder it for too long he was recruited by the Nebula Brigade, which gave him a new purpose.

Whatever purpose the Brigade gave him though, he still never forgot his original purpose for being here-finding his wife. It had been a few months since he had last seen her, and he had grown worried he might never find her. He figured this hero work might eventually get her attention, wherever she was. It was his first day here, and he wanted to get to know who he would be working with. What better way to do that, than by dueling with a few of them! Walking into the sparring room, he heard the clang of swords, which almost instantly reminded him of his beloved. He entered already looking for the sound, expecting to see his lost love...and to his shock, there she was.

What were the odds? In the past several months, he had walked into many different rooms ready to see her and was filled with disappointment. But here she was, as beautiful as the day he had lost her-no, more beautiful. Seeing her in combat, the ferocity in her eyes, and the calculation showing in her face just reflected the reason he fell in love with her. It didn't hurt that she was a super model, and seeing all of this made him speechless. For a quick second anyway, he snapped right out of that seeing someone kiss her hand. While that might have been nothing but chivalry, he hadn't seen many other people do that, and he was not about to let anyone get in the middle of them.

A gold flash seemed to divide the room for a second, before he was standing there behind Rouge, hand on his shoulder.

"Thanks bud, I'll take it from here." He pulled with a good bit of strength, sending Rouge a few feet back before he took Riya in his arms, and stared into her beautiful eyes.

"My darling, a moment's break from your gaze is an eternity passed, and it has been months. I'm so sorry it took me this long to find you, you won't believe how many places there are to look here!"

Mercy

The enthusiastic response of the French swordsman brings an unexpectedly shy smile to Mercy's features and she dips her head, averting her eyes to the floor when a kiss is placed on her hand. His double entendre appears to go right over her head, though, and she murmurs, "I've never seen the like of your sword. I look forward to-"

But then magic happens.

In a burst of golden light, he's suddenly there. Akash, her beloved! For all that she's worn her emotions on her sleeve so far, there's no mistaking the brilliant joy that lights up her face upon the sight of her husband. Because that joy is literally brilliant. Her whole form is suddenly encompassed by a radiant anima of golden energy streaked through with bright swells of crimson before the whole effect resolves to a deep serene azure.

Riya slips into the arms of her Akash and rests her head against his shoulder. The resulting contact increases her glow by exactly 247 lumens. Drawing comfort from his strength, his scent and the familiarity of his presence, Mercy at last looks up into his eyes and her lips part breathlessly.

"My love!"

"It's been so long!" she says, one hand cupping her husband's cheek in rapt fascination.

A timeless melody winds its way across hearts and souls as the two divinities, separated for the anguishing eternity of several months, are reunited.

"There! was that so bloody hard? Look at you, just because you've got a crowd of people here watching you, you think you're the star!" Richards yells at the penguin. Without looking he leans slightly to his right, moving closer to an attractive brunette he saw before starting his tirade.

"You know what love, you're too good for him. He's all wrapped up in himself. What do you say we go somewhere and I'll show you my full undivided attention over a nice steak dinner?" Ryan turns to the woman and smiles widely, she in turn tries not to make eye contact with the raving lunatic as she hurriedly leaves. Ryan runs his hand over his chin in slight embarrassment.

"Yeah I can see how that came on a little strong. I'll dial it back next time" he nods to himself before looking back into the penguin enclosure, noticing the creature still eyeing him.

"Sorry, we're fine. I was just trying to get her attention. Nothing personal" he half mutters to the bird.

Bleu-Blanc-Rouge + Avatar [NPCs]

Rouge stepped back, face blanched like he had just seen a portent of his doom, gaping at the sight of two reunited lovebirds. He nodded like a hurt puppy, slowly coming to terms with what his eyes had been telling him. He squeaked, in French, quietly enough that no one could hear him, "<O-of course she's married. All the best ones are... God shits in my dinner once again...>"

As he said so, his legs finally gave out and succumbed to their earlier treatment at Sasha's hands, and Rouge fell onto his knees, supporting himself with his hands.

Avatar frowned, hearing the remark with super-hearing and replying, "Hey, I have done nothing of the sort!"

"Damn...." Rouge cursed again.

"Cheer up," Avatar said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, what do you say I take you to a stripclub? We can invite Carbon Dragon - a guys' night out. Eh? What do you say?"

"Sure, whatever," the depressed French hero muttered, hugging his rapier like a girlfriend he never had.

"That should be interesting!"

Meeting the famous tinker should prove to be a useful experience. And she wondered if she could do something with a tinker device? Her power revolved around adding a function to an object while keeping its original purpose. If she was given a power suit to work with...

The power showcase continued by a fencing match between Bleu-Blanc-Rogue and Mercy. The match proved to be interesting, given that she couldn't even follow the second half of the fight. It was all a blur. Brie broke into applause with an unclear gaze, unsure what she was clapping for but it was certainly something amazing.

As if to put an epilogue to an epic fight, a man intruded into the sparring room and burst into a hug with Mercy.

"You are married?" asked Brie in disbelief.

It was not unheard of, but seeing someone with a family applying to a newly established hero league was something unusual. She expected everyone to be bachelor of some sort, to be honest. To add to that, the alarm didn't ring when the husband walked in, meaning he was somehow authorised to be in this room as well. Imagine that!

Kit Sanches-Martin
Location: Nebula Brigade training room

Eventually, the combat finished and Mercy stepped away. The wind stopped and everyone's hair settled back to normal. Rogue was staring at Mercy with a look full of various emotions- shock and awe being the principal ones. He bent and so that weird hand kissing thing that neither Kit nor Chris had ever understood.

And that was when the man appeared in a golden flash. No alarms activated so he must have had clearance to be there. Just as Kit was about to ask who he was before the woman Mercy turns to him and hugs him right. She evidently knew him. Then things got even weirder.

The two kissed and then it became very clear who he was. He was Mercy's husband, and a long lost one by the looks of it. The couple would not have reacted this way had they both been together when applying for Nebula Brigade. Meaning was the one who voiced what everyone was thinking.

You are married?" asked Brie in disbelief.

The look on Rogues face when the husband appeared was haunting. He then collapsed to the ground, not that anyone of her teammates cared. Whatever Avatar said to him afterwards didn't seem to fully cheer him up

Then Kit's phone chimed loudly. She mentally cursed herself for not silencing it, but she doubted anyone would care, not with the appearance of Mercy's husband. She pulled out her phone, opened the message and read it.

We thought for a long time and the best we could come up with was karaoke and drinks.
We're meeting at the usual spot at 7:00 pm

Kit grinned and responded with a positive affirmation. She was in, drunken karaoke was traditional among her gang. She had known her band of friends since high school and they were a sound bunch, and didn't care about her and Chris being stuck body sharing. They were also in a vigilante group together, but that was besides the point..

Yuudai stared in disbelief as Mercy began to glow and a man appeared out of nowhere. The two hugged and music began to fill his ears and the whole atmosphere changed, even the air changed colors. Yuudai stumbled backward as he involuntarily darted his gaze around the room. It seemed like no one else was surprised by the sudden changes, or that this lady wasn't from earth. "Maybe she's a Celestial!?" he thought to himself. Her presence now gave off a strong magical aura, one that Yuudai could barely sense before the battle.

Suddenly he groaned then crouched down placing his palms against his ears and temples. Yu whisper-shouted "headache!" and tried to shut off his thoughts as music rung through his ears. For Yuudai, his headaches often happened when he couldn't grasp an idea together, as his brain often overworked itself, even if he wasn't actually thinking about or doing anything.

"Is there something I can help you find?" a voice questions from behind something vaguely counter shaped. The speaker steps forward, revealing himself to be a college aged man wearing a Gwar shirt and a dirty pair of jeans.

"I would doubt it...." Ryan frowns, narrowing his eyes.

"Most of the good leads tend to come from seventy year old men, well, good leads or at the very least interesting pets. Like the Mogwai" Ryan flashes a smile before frowning again.

"What, have you not seen gremlins?" he incredulously throws his hands out at his sides as he leans toward the clerk.

"Is that like that movie, critters?"

Ryan's eyes go wide for a moment before he runs his hand through his hair, a tic he'd developed when stressed out.

"CRITTERS? That movie was a gremlins rip off! Come on. You work in a spooky place like this and you haven't even seen the classics?" Ryan shakes his head.

"I was going to ask you some questions about your wares here but, I don't think I'm going to even bother. You critter cretin!" Ryan kicks open the door he had entered by and storms out onto the side walk.

Director Jepsen's phone rang, and she excused herself and walked to a solitary corner of the chamber as she picked up. From a distance, a few words she said could be caught, such as, "where," "clear them..." "time..." and similar terms.

The conversation lasted a scant fifteen seconds before she came back and announced, "We have a situation in Madison Square Garden. A rogue magician took over the entire location and turned it into a fighting ring for creatures he's summoning, and he's forcing people to watch. He hasn't hurt anyone yet, at least not deliberately and not to our knowledge, but proceeding with care is advised: Everyone, go get suited up - I and Carillon will take the console alongside the MTR team captain. Rouge, Avatar - both of you go into the field with the Brigade."

Avatar nodded, and Rouge perked up at the chance to blow off some stress like he'd been given a second life. He stood up with a gallant "ha!" and kicked his sword's handle at a perfect angle to cause it to hop into the air, allowing him to grab it easily. He brandished it and said, "As you say, madame!"

Between running to the elevator, waiting for it to go up, and then getting to the locker room, it would take a bit over two minutes to suit up; the elevators were relatively fast and the building was designed so that the most important rooms were as close to the elevators as architecturally reasonable to cut response times as much as possible. Fortunately, Avatar had an even better idea than two to three minutes.

Avatar focused on the space in front of himself and opened up a portal similar to the previous one, but this one led to the locker rooms. The effort visibly strained him, fading out a bit of his aura. "Alright team, it's showtime. Go and change," he commanded the heroes. "No time to waste, so I'll get Rouge to the Raptor-Jet, then pick all of you up."

Kits eyes widened, combat with the Brigade already? They barely even knew each other! Chris was equally shocked but willing to do battle. And it was against a magician so she would have some advantage. It would be ok.

Rogue perked up instantly at the mention of combat, he jumped to his feet as if he had been hit with a thousand-volt shock. His energy was back and he was enthusiastic. Avatar stood and opened a portal, similar in style to the last one, it appeared to lead to some kind of locker room. He issued a command.

"Alright team, it's showtime. Go and change," he commanded the heroes. "No time to waste, so I'll get Rouge to the Raptor-Jet, then pick all of you up."

Kit stood up and opened her own portal, it was nothing as fancy as Avatars. It started off as a simple set of purple sparks, the sparks grew rapidly, forming an oval 2 metres tall. The edges were swirling with black and purple mist. Through the portal a large room could be seen, it appeared to be some sort of garage-cum-storage locker.

The room she appeared in was about 6 metres wide and 8 metres long. The left side wall was covered in shelves, filled with cardboard and metal boxes. Six mannequins stood against the back wall, each a different body shape and size. Two were empty, the others had suits on them, but they were not the suit Parabellum was wearing. A rack of various weapons stood on the right wall, as well as a series of tools and strange metal orbs. Parked in a neat line were five motorbikes, black and sleek with detailing in red. They were streamlined and evidently had been well engineered.

Kit opened a chest, pulling out a twin set out special gauntlets, a belt of small pouches and an object wrapped in cloth. She sat on one of the bikes kicked up the stand and drive back out through the portal, closing it after herself.

She appeared back in the training room on the bike. "I'm ready"

Sasha just kind of looked confused when another person showed up, who happened to be the sword lady's husband. Her main gripe with the situation was how apparently easy it was for people to enter the building and the fact that she wasn't in fact flirting with the deputy director. Well hopefully she wasn't, if she was that'd be quite a difficult social situation to handle, maybe she could ask the other girls at school.

When it was announced that their first mission would be tackling a mad magician who took over Madison Square Garden she certainly didn't feel prepared for it, after all they didn't do any team building exercises, but you can't cherry pick missions when people's lives are at risk. Going up to Bleu she tugs on his sleeve again;

"I'm already prepared, can I follow you to the transport?"

Their first job! Brie's eyes shone with anticipation. She eagerly went through the portal and reached for her locker. She finally had a chance to be out of this ridiculous outfit!

Comfortable leather shoes for high heels. Camel 3/4 tight for leather trousers. Plain shirt with a vest for leather jacket. Stylish bracelet. To top it all, a cap for the head and a goggle hide her face. Brie took her toolbox and tightened her shoelaces. Apart from the toolbox and her mask, she looked just like an average girl hanging out in a mall.

Brie returned to the training room. She flipped the Super Swiss Knife in her hand and made a victory pose.

"I'm ready!"

Embarrassing? Of course not! This mission should be pretty exciting.

Yuudai heard a person ask if he was ok then, he looked over to his left seeing that they crouched down to his side. The person was unidentifiable neither looking to be a woman or male or anything else and he wasn't able to see there face properly on account of them wearing a mask.

"Yeah; just a really bad headache" he strained out through gritted teeth, squinting right eye shut. Just as he finished his sentence, the director left the room to make a phone call. Yuudai took his hands off of his ears but could only make out a few words before she walked back inside and explained the situation. "A magician at Madison Square Garden forcing passersby to watch beasts fight," he pondered but his thoughts were quickly interrupted by the pounding pain in his head as it started to fade away. Yuudai stood himself up then again then looked around, a portal to the locker rooms had been opened by the Avatar supposedly I the locker room and Yuudai walked over and through it.

Yu looked around; the place was clean considering how he viewed locker rooms from reference and experience. He prowled around in search of a locker with his name on it and once it was found he ambled over and opened the door. Looking inside he saw a high shelf, sat atop it was his black fox mask and tool belt having various items hooked on to it and on the bottom of the locker was a black box with smaller clothing articles inside. Below them, a medium salmon pink button-up shirt and ash grey vertical white lined vest waistcoat-tailcoat with burgundy lining next to it matching pants; all hung up by three silver hangers. After quickly putting on his clothing he sat down on a bench leaned over then picked up the black box.

Inside was a singular sleeve garter, black & white polka dotted tie and mismatched choker. Yuudai quickly fastened and buckled up the sleeve garter on his left forearm, then tied the black and white polka dotted tie in a loose fitted double Windsor knot underneath his shirt collar. After hooking the fabric choker on he put on his tool belt, and to top it off he put on his fox mask then he closed his locker and went back to the front of the locker room where the portal was and sat down. Unlike the others, he hadn't tested his powers but felt he was more than capable of helping.

Madison Square Garden

Once everyone was suited up, Avatar opened a portal to the hangar where Rouge and Sasha were already waiting in a VTOL aircraft called 'the Raptor.' It took no more than a minute to take off and get into the New York skyline, then barely two minutes to get to the scene.

With a response time of only several minutes, the team arrived on location. The rapjet landed softly on top of the building, and steam hissed out as the landing pad opened.

Avatar and Rouge led the way into the building, using the rooftop access door to go down. The building had been altered, even to the eyes of someone that wasn't there before. Everything seemed bigger than on the outside. Soon, the team made its way into the bleacher area, only to find the doors closed and locked, some kind of magic keeping them in place.

Avatar raised his hand, charging it with righteous cosmic justice, resonating across multiple realities, yearning to lash out against evil. A single shot, where he clearly held back, sent the doors off of their hinges, two-thirds of them atomized and the rest badly mauled, broken, and melting with heat. Paradoxically, his action didn't produce more noise than a gunshot, actually sounding quieter, especially to trained ears.

He floated through first, posing akimbo in mid-air as he looked down at the old man. "This stops now, Sage!" he called out, voice booming with power, a tad theatric. People reacted to his appearance, their faces lighting up in hope and joy.

Rouge stayed behind the doors and turned to the team, "Alright, follow me in a v-shaped formation with me at the lead and make a little pose when we get there. Like folding your arms or showing a peace sign and smiling. The kids love that, and the media appreciates it. Ready? Let's go."

He led the way onto the bleachers, stopping next to the Avatar. Rouge put one foot on the railings and drew his rapier, flourishing it in the air before bringing it in front of himself in a fencer's salute. "Surrender or face justice!"
