  The Year is 2000. Two years after the Fall of Voldemort. Hogwarts is just now fully repaired thanks to a joint effort of those involved in the Battle of Hogwarts. The dust is settling down as the last of the known death eaters have been put to trial. The conclusion is staggering as so many have been sent to Azkaban. The Wizengamot has found quite a few members guilty of collusion with death eaters. The Ministry itself is in an uproar as demands for cleaning out a corrupt cabinet are called. This of course will not happen in an afternoon, nor will it be soon.

  The Year is 2001. Three years after the Fall of Voldemort. Hogwarts is noticing a trending decline in students to the Slytherin house. This is not yet seen as a cause for concern. Diagon Alley has been quite prosperous but also a target for stray occurrences of Death Eaters. A special subclass of Aurors has arisen as the “Anti-Magical Terrorist Unit” the dark arts have been receiving a real crackdown. As such Knockturn Alley is losing a lot of business and many shops are moving out east. Potion Ingredients have jacked up in prices and been harder to obtain as many legitimate businesses have ditched with the dark scare running across the land.

  The Year is 2002. Four years after the Fall of Voldemort. Sybill Trelawney has had another prophecy.
  “Old scars inflame as conflicts never settled come back to a head. The scorned are burned from ages ago and seek to bring war back to our banks. The ones with the power to heal wounds of old are drawn into the pit each taking their corners. War returns to our banks as children learn to rely not on their elders. When heroes are born to an absence of Justice unnecessary blood is spilt. Tragedy occurs as our children take arms seeking to put to rest old failures.”
  
  
  Draco Malfoy has received a position in the Ministry for The Department of Magical Equipment Control. Herminone Weasley has received a position in the Department of Improper Use of Magic Office. Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter have both completed Auror Training and Internship receiving a full Auror position. Hogwarts reaches all time lows in terms of pureblood attendance. The neighboring schools of Beaubaxon and Durmstrong receive an increase in British, Irish, and Scottish students.
  Three Death Eaters have escaped Azkaban.

  The Year is 2003. Five years after the Fall of Voldemort. Harry Potter has died. A regular auror mission gone wrong. Dark arts are not at direct fault but they were involved in the investigation. The Rosier Family was found to not be harboring any dark items besides a family heirloom locked under Gringotts protection for the last ten years. The Rosier Family head died in the crossfire. Aurors are sighting high tension between Old magic families, formerly known as the Sacred Twenty Eight, as a possible reason for the circumstances surrounding Sir Potter’s death. The Rosier’s are succeeded by the Eldest Son Felix Rosier. The Potter’s are succeeded by his young ward Teddy Lupin. Ronald Weasley is appointed Senior Auror for his unit. Heavy Tensions occur across the board for slytherins and slytherin-born children.

  The Year is 2004. Six years after the Fall of Voldemort. The Ministry has had a complete upheaval. Draco Malfoy has been removed from office, details unclear. Many cabinet positions have had new faces replace them. Percy Weasley has been appointed to Minister of Magic. Hannah Abbot gets outed as an unspeakable and moved into the Department of Improper Use of Magic Office. Hogwarts is in turmoil as the amount of Slytherins and Ravenclaws reach all time highs as the amount of Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs reach all time lows.

  The Year is 2005. Seven years after the Fall of Voldemort. Three major altercations in Hogwarts Castle. A Gryffindor Head boy physically attacking the Slytherin Head girl. Ravenclaw Prefect and several Ravenclaw students found in an unauthorized dueling gauntlet with Hufflepuff students. Hufflepuff and Gryffindor Prefects both hospitalized after a nasty magical row in the middle of the hallways in defense of a bullied Slytherin Student. House Unity is at an all time low as not a single student from the battle of Hogwarts is still enrolled.

  The Year is 2007. Nine years after the Fall of Voldemort. It is September 1st. Today is the sorting ceremony. You follow your housemates to watch as the first years of the year get sorted.
  
  Our Story Begins
  
  
  
  
• 
  1) This is a Harry Potter AU RP. As such some things will be different from Canon either because 1) I didn’t like them; 2) I didn’t remember them; or 3) To build up the story. As such if you have any strongly planned ideas about a tiny portion of the book or movie please let me know before getting too heavily into the idea.
  
  2) While I’m sure everyone has their own thoughts of how X thing functions as an everyday please do your best to not write out another from their plans. I’ll have up a “Houses” section to give a sort of background into the house that isn’t from a Gryffindor based view. Please read them, I’m not into the whole all villains wear green so if you do write yourself out of the setting I will be rejecting the character and asking you to go back to the drawing board.
  
  3) You don’t need to fit into your house in personality. Values aren’t what you are, it's what you respect, admire and/or strive for. Sometimes they can line up, sometimes they don't. People are messy messy creatures. I highly encourage creative freedoms. That said creative freedom does not mean godmodding or going out of the way to ruin someone else’s fun. If I find you doing either you may get a warning or an immediate ask to leave depending on severity.
  
  4) On the subject of godmodding, in general don’t do anything that would write another character out of the ability to write. There’s no main character here we stan Durarara / 13 Sentinel format. Everyone should have their own story they want to tell and the rp is a meeting of goals and ambitions, only sometimes with the occasional reminder that the end of normalcy is nigh.
  
  5) CSes are mandatory. Formats are optional. Have fun with them. Go Mildly Wild. Add things if you feel you need to. Write only as much as would get your character across. CSes suck but they’re practically mandatory for groups. I’ll be porting over my own characters from a failed rp attempt so long as you work to make them fit the setting alls good.
  
  6) Also bring ideas to the table, within reason, as currently we have a start with no end planned. Having players that want their characters to have meaningful contributions is always my preference. Not to say that if you just wanna ride out a story and have a character more internally focused that you won't get in. We love yall too but we do need some story movers too.
  
  7) On the subject of characters. Feel free to be unbalanced. I don't care for gender ratios, or age dynamics, or house balance. If we end up with 4 old ravenclaws and 3 baby puffs and 1 middle slytherin that's just as fine with me.

Gryffindor, Home To The Daring​

  Bustling afternoons where first years rush to Gryffindor landing to get to the stairs of their tower are spent full of laughter. Guarded by the Fat Lady as she lets by anyone who has been given the password. Gryffindors have always been ones to let in their friends, if the prefect deducts a few points for their boldness well the Head has never once stopped them. As you step into the common room drenched in Crimson and Gold you notice that the circular tower actually has a number of alcoves and nooks that one would never imagine from the outside. The atmosphere feels of home, scarves and blankets thrown around on the couches and tables littering the central room. Books and games are shoved into shelves built into alcoves. The nooks have pillows shoved in and a few even have built in curtains for a quick escape. A select few nooks are far higher than any first year could reach as a few older students use magic to reach them often using the special nooks for events or shouting to gain attention. All around the common room you see articles of your fellow Gryffindors, bags, shoes, someone’s paints seemed to have been kicked open. The floor length windows that line the walls show a beautiful overlook of the castle either facing the courtyard or quidditch pitch. The overwhelming royal feel to the lining of gold around the room and the pillars and staircase surrounds you as you feel as though you could challenge the world.

  “Welcome to Gryffindor tower! First years get a good look at this landing, when you pass through our doors your one of us. Welcome to the house of heroes, from now on you’ll embody the virtues of a strong soul. Bravery to stand up and get the job done, protection for the weak. In the wake of war and times of reconstruction, we lose our heroes. Our numbers may have dwindled recently but we are still forever strong. Lady Sybil has had another prophecy in the past couple of years, which means that now more than ever before a hero is needed. Remember, we don’t want another He-who-shall-not-be-named stay vigilant and stop any such behavior in its tracks. Be a model for the weak as there are so many more lost souls finding their way into Hogwarts. One can only imagine what horrors can come from such a huge increase in Slytherins….”

Slytherin, Home To The Resolute​

  A descent down leads one to the doors to the Slytherin common room. Unlike the houses in the towers, Slytherin has many entrances from which to get to their common room even outnumbering Hufflepuff. Regardless of the path one takes they will find themselves below in a mazelike set of paths cobbled with pure stone giving a dungeon-like feel meant to deter visitors. A solemn exterior that in no way reflects the actual common room. The gauntlet they call it, a first-years first experience in the house. As they make their way in led by their perfect they’re taught to follow the warmth. Slytherin's house will always call to its little ones. As you reach the next doorway where all the entrances lead, you see a polished marble door far too heavy for any one person to move. “Prosper” your prefect says as the name Salzar Slytherin lights up and the doors open. Before you is a long stretched room with light streaming in from the walls and ceiling covered in glass with the lake just beyond it. The ceiling’s glass is a stained glass pattern of a serpent eating its own tail. Ouroboros, Infinite possibility looks down upon you. The room itself is lit well for the afternoon as the light streams through the lake and into the common room helped by the low ring of light at the baseboards of the floor as well as the hanging lanterns of a green glow. Hand-carved antique chairs, bookshelves, desks, and long tables scatter the room. The couches of three different luxurious styles, Meridienne, Chesterfields, and Cabriole. Two elder Slytherins sat at one of the chess tables on the east side of the room. The room screams elegance with its natural wood, shades of green upholstery, and silver accents. There are grand ballroom stairs leading further down at the far end of the long common room that led to the dorms. As you step into the common room at the beckoning of your prefect you feel the magic engrave your name into the marble door. In your head, you hear the voice familiar yet unknown as it asks “what will your word be?”​

  “Welcome Slytherins. You’ve passed your first obstacle, the gauntlet. I’m sure you’ve already recognized by the plush common room how uncharacteristic the entrance is. That’s how you’ll be to others. Cold, Empty, Mazelike. Salazar Slytherin was the same. Self preservation led him to choices that people still don’t agree with. When Hogwarts was made muggles hunted down and killed witches and wizards. Thus the answer was to safeguard magic and keep it in all magic families. As you can see from the last war and the ones standing beside you, that is no longer needed. Blood purity is a relic, but there are plenty of other things to fear in the dark. Our name is mud, you will face problems for your efforts. Your desires, ambitions, and constant looking to the future which led you to the snakes will be the weapons they use against you. Outside those walls you will be united, because they will try to tear you apart. Divided we fall, and make no mistakes they’re all looking to see Slytherin self-destruct. In here you can relax, you can be passionate, here your ambitions will be praised and rewarded, but as you pass the gauntlet let it be a reminder that Slytherins haven’t been welcome in hogwarts for a century. The chasm is wide and take care it doesn’t swallow you up, because even the teachers outside are not on your side and they never have been. Take care to recognize those who will judge you for your colors long before they hear you speak.”

Hufflepuff, Home To The Just​

  The kitchens are a messy noisy affair as the house elves and elder students are busy preparing up a storm for the samhain feast. Hogwarts was wild with preparations for the holidays, whether you celebrated or not Hogwarts brought the magic for those who declined to return home. Shuffling past the mayhem you make your way to the more popular entrance to hufflepuff. The barrels. Everyone knew of this entrance but none dared enter it but Hufflepuffs lest everyone smell the vinegar on you for days. It was the easiest of the three entrances to open as well. Drumming was so much more certain than singing in key or drawing a symbol precisely. Plus it was right in the kitchens! You tap the barrels in key as they slide out of the way to allow you into your common room. The tunnel-like entrance is set up with lots of hooks and a showcase right as you enter and you quickly toss your school robe and shoes relaxing in your typical clothes. The ceiling is high up as up in the distance you can see the porthole windows streaming light in from the above ground level. Here at the bottom the fireplaces warm the room as copper fixtures hold up potted plants each growing snacks to munch on, if you like them that is. One particular plant is in its seedling state under a glass dome in the center of the room, a mandrake, great for intruders. You remember your prefect moving the last out as it matured not trusting the house to not accidentally murder themselves. Everything is so warm and cozy, old quaint wooden chairs with a long community table where the house gets together to try foods of each other’s culture at house nights. Couches are plush and just perfect for napping, just under the portrait of their founder there’s a huge community cabinet that houses all manner of games and books and art supplies. Besides the little tunnel like mudroom exits there’s also seven smaller tunnels out to each years burrow. With a shout you fall into the couch and doze the afternoon away.

  “Heya Hufflepuffs! Come one come all baby badgers. Circle round now! Okay we’re all here? Yup. Alrighty now! Welcome home. You’re officially a Hufflepuff now. So let's lay down the rules. As a baby badger there's some expectations. First, I don’t ever wanna here you’re down starting fights unless they deserve it. No cheating, or stealing! We value the work of our hands and our charms. Be good but not you don’t necessarily need to be polite or kind if they aren’t. We value cultivations of all forms, of body, of mind of soul. Growth is one of our key mottos. Followed only by Justice! Helga Hufflepuff was a staunch believer in the equality of all and treating everyone equally. Here at Hufflepuff we take in the ‘lot. Don’t be afraid to show your true self okay? We celebrate our differences here. Being Just and True is exhausting though so be prepared for it to not be easy. It takes a strong moral character to be able to choose Justice over Retaliation, but here in Hufflepuff we can’t wait to see you all become your best selves. Every goal you make and every achievement you find will only help you on that path. Celebrate each other’s victory and come back from a defeat by coming together."

  Ravenclaw landing, the entryway of great difficulty. At least that’s what you thought as a first-year. Years have passed and the game only gets easier. It’s humbling as you find each entry there’s some new riddle or task. The door has learned you by now, the riddles seem almost pointedly to be things you never knew you never knew. Yesterday it asked you to do algebra and you near cried as you failed the third time. While it’d be easier to admit that you didn’t know and enter, it was rare you choose that option anymore. The door wasn’t cruel. Usually, it would make you answer the things you needed most. Besides the sense of camaraderie in solving the questions together was always more fulfilling than giving up and searching for the answer for next time. Because it would ask again. Hesitantly you stepped up. A first-year before you looking as frazzled as you would have been at that age as the door denied the answers the child gave. “Stones?”. They were wrong again. The frustration mounted as they repeated the riddle again. “I come from a mine, and always get surrounded by wood. Everyone uses me. What am I”. You stepped up, the answer was familiar to you. “Are you a pureblood?” the child nodded yes. “I see. The doors always tell you what you need to learn. Muggles don’t tend to use quills anymore. The answer lies in what they use to write.” The child’s eyes lit up as they seemed to think. “Pencil lead?” The door opened up for you both to a staircase leading up the tower. The child waved their thanks before they rushed up and entered one of the first doors. A first-year indeed. As you climbed up the tower to the highest room you entered the common room. A circular room of white marble with an outer ring of a plush star rug. The dome top showed a painting of the stars with lush blue curtains tied up like a princess style bed. There were a few chairs, sofas, and desks along with plenty of bookshelves, but as usual you took a place laying on the carpet. The mechanisms of the top opened up with the top sliding down. The comet was soon and everyone started to file in with pillows and blankets taking spots on the floor. You could spend the rest of your year looking up at the stars and be satisfied.

  “Circle Up! Alrighty, ya’ll all got through the door fine. Damn there are more than last year. Okay good thing this is a magical castle… ALRIGHT Ravenclaws welcome to the beginning of the rest of your life. Don’t think of this as a house per say. See we Ravenclaws have house pride just like any other but what unites us isn’t some pretty colors or something as nebulous as an innate bravery or desires to be on top or heavens forbid some dedication to fairness. You see ravenclaws don’t have to be some law abiding, or justice focused, or power focused individuals. From this day on you will be known for your willingness to learn, to expand, to soar. You see there is no one intelligence, smart is just some label to be discarded like all else. See we all have knowledge and skills that we need daily. A ravenclaw seeks to keep expanding their own toolbox. It doesn’t matter if you fail today because tomorrow you’ll be better equipped to deal with that problem, so long as you keep trying. See a failure isn’t an evaluation, its a starting point. Nothing worth doing ever came on the first try. Imagine all the things that were born from failure. We are do-ers. No one ever talks about how many times Einstein failed or what Michelangelo's worst works were. No, instead we look to the staples. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a puzzle person or an artist or a music person or a vet. We’re all born with ignorance so go out and learn.”
