Speaking to:
Sion BlackJack BlackJack Drui Fable Fable Bianca Reinhardt Reinhardt Abdival Swire Swire
Risa felt a hand lightly tap on her shoulder. glancing over to see Bianca. She looked at her giving a light nod in response before she vanished. It seemed pointless for her to say anything in response when a simple nod was more then enough. She couldn't help but get a strange feeling though she simply dismissed it for now. Her attention shifted as another hand touched her shoulder though this time she seemed to react a bit less relaxed. Her hand shifted a bit as if in a grabbing gesture for something in her jacket though it stopped well short. It was more a natural instinct she had when something unfamiliar came near her to reach for her weapon.

"Someone new I assume? You don't have a seal yet do you? if you wish to help I won't stop you, though I highly advice you partner up with someone and to not put yourself at too much risk. As soon as things look dangerous you should quickly head back to the Fort. I'm sure..." She was stopped as someone else approached looking over towards Drui. She wasn't sure how to react though she wasn't the most pleased by someone butting in. The situation at hand however didn't offer her any time to reprimand her for her approach. The longer they took the more people who would likely die. If what Drui said was true or not didn't matter. She glanced over towards the reception desk noticing a bit of commotion though shrugging it off for now.

"Very well, be careful and don't go wasting your life pointlessly. Examination wise don't expect to get a free pass just because you are helping." She spoke moving over to the counter looking over at Emily seeing the newt standing on it. She suddenly butted in, grabbing hold of Abdival clutching him into her hand squeezing a bit at him in his newt form though not enough to squish him. He wouldn't be much use dead after all.

"Don't worry about him I'll take him there and dispel him once we get there. Hurry and help teleport these few newbies over to the city. I want you to stay back and watch over the guild. Should something happen notify me immediately." She spoke holding onto the little newt Abdival planning on heading out herself very soon once she was sure everything was left in order at the Fort.

Bem the Apianian - Courtyard
hip to fuck bees.png
"I-..." Bem tried to say, but found that her words had left her as the one person she had decided to trust suddenly thrust a knife of words into her heart, giving her the first, but most definitely not the last experience of her life as the cat-person walked away with the one she had deemed an enemy. Her insides hurt like hell had just decided to pour lava through her veins, yet this was not physical pain. It confused Bem how their words had hurt her so much "Her.." Was all she was capable of saying as she fell to her knees, wanting nothing more than to curl up and cry, were she capable of such a feat, It felt like dying would have been less painful than this emotion.

"So this is what they are capable of." She thought to herself as she watched the two shadows walk away from her, leaving her in the dust, seemingly without care for her existence, probably to go do some foul and bizarre mating ritual of theirs. Bem clambered to her feet as the crushing waves of emotion subsided after what felt like an eternity. "Mmm.." was all she hummed, not confident enough for words just yet, finding the soft vibrations of her own voice comforting as she felt more alone than she had ever done before. She had no idea what to do, where to go or if she should try and help, but with this feeling of betrayal and hopelessness, she felt she had nothing else to lose. The apiana slowly walked towards the guild where others appeared to be heading, her eyes stuck to the ground as she walked in lonely solitude towards the building, not even paying attention to those around her as she walked to what was assumed to be her death, from what her instincts were saying. All she wanted was for this panging hunger for approval and strange sensation of loss was to go away, and if death was the fastest way for that, so be it. It wasn't like she had a home to return to, or a family that strived for her survival.

With a sigh and a loose grip on her spear, she marched sombrely forward to her demise.

"Stand a bit closer together, and pay attention." Lifting up her hand, she showed her guild seal. "This is a guild seal. It is your proof as a member of the Guild. It lets you teleport to any major city that has the guild's support. To do that, you must use a magic circle as the destination point such as this one. There is one in Xhorhas, so all you need to do is think 'Xhorhas' and put a bit of mana into your seal. You can use it at any time to teleport to any major city and guild fort. Alright, go on, try it!" Emily shouted with her arms folded. Jason Crowe
Guild Hall
___________
Jason made his way to the guild hall, preferable avoiding the giant wyvern that landed in the courtyard. A magnificent creature to be sure, but probably something he didn’t want to get involved with.

He scoffed at the answer the woman gave him about his belief on the war. Jason’s smart, not suicidal. Others may be content at going out at the thought of being remembered as a hero, but there are those who like living.

Jason watched as many people scrambled around the guild. Some choosing to make their way towards the city, others running away in fear. Jason just stood in the middle of crowd, assessing the situation.

He quietly listened to the receptionist’s explanation about the guild badge and how he could teleport with it. Jason pulled his badge out and eyed it wearily.

Jason is not a coward, just to make things clear. He’s a survivalist, yet an opportunist. Among the chaos, there could be treasures left behind that he could pawn off. However, the obvious risk of death and destruction are slightly off putting. Just a tad.

Decisions decisions.

Abdival(newt version)
Location - Guild Hall

It didn't take that long for something to interrupt Abdival, seconds, before he would have been turned back to normal. Much to his surprise though it was Risa. Well, it wasn't that surprising that the guild master was angry at him. Or at least that how he saw it. Ripping him away from his chance of being turned back, with the palm of her hand. Oh no, There is still another person that could turn me back. But if Risa keeps me here... Abdival didn't know Risa intentions and for all he knows she was going to teleport him into the city and leave him there. To him, being part of the guild isn't whats important to him. He can save people and be a hero without being part of a group that most likely has at least half of the people angry at him, because of his mistake.

I'm not going to let this happen He thought wiggling a little. Oh, course she wouldn't let him go. That didn't matter, she would let him go when he burned her hand. The hole he climbed out of was still there, all he had to do was create an explosion to both propel him forward and make her let go. After that, he could find another friend to turn him back. Abdival lifted his tail, forcing black energy into it. 3...2...-----
Happy trails, kid.

Abdival stopped. "What are you doing, Risa?" Abdival said, lowering his tail and repressing the black fire so it wouldn't explode. I'm not going to make the same mistake again. Abdival wouldn't resist and Risa could take him where ever. "I don't really see a reason why you would have stopped her, unless you intended to kill me that is." Abdival said, trying to poke at her reasoning.

Leonidas
Location: Gestal
Action: The Battle of Gestal

Leonidas said nothing but prepared for Battle. The person on the rotting horse failed to understand the ways of Sparta. He and his master would make an enemy of the king of Sparta. Immediately two Spartans fell and were risen up again, one seemed different while the other seemed to be more like a Spartan.

Leonidas took up his Holy spear and charged the revenant along with 10-15 other Spartans. 10 others engaged the other undead while about the rest engaged the giant creature. No matter what they found they would fight the giant creature, and they spread out to avoid mass casualties from grouping up. This assault was lead by the new and perfect Spartan recruit.

Viska
Location: Guild ------> Xhorhas Guild
Action: Teleporting the Lizard Squad to a city under siege

Viska nodded to Ka'Sha and Balthazar when each placed a hand on Viska's. Soon Viska activated her guild seal and off they went to the guild in Xhorhas. Once there Viska let go of her new found friends and began looking for anyone who could tell them what to do. Viska wanted to help out as much as she can. She saw an important looking fellow and decided to go up to them.

"Hi! We're from Castle Black, we want to help out! I think our other friends are coming to help as well. Anyways what do you need us to do!"

The revenant instantly felt overwhelmed and shielded himself from several attacks. He stepped back and then sidestepped another attack from a soldier, then attacked and tried to puncture his chest, but the spear stuck in the Spartan's armor and only grazed him. This opened him up and allowed Leonidas to attack with his spear, penetrating the revenant's left arm.

The revenant jumped back and drew his sword. He blocked a few attacks, but was soon overwhelmed and pierced from five sides, destroyed. The zombie's fate was similar.

Now, only the monster was left.

It slammed its arms into the ground, creating an electrical shockwave that sent several Spartan warriors flying through the street. It then ran forward, ramming through several soldiers and into a building, completely destroying its front wall and bringing the roof down on its inhabitants. It then spewed forth a black lightning from its black side, creating six more zombies to join it; mostly dead civilians.

The undead monsters, contrary to their previous tactics, all ran off into various directions. They weren't running away, but rather, intending to infect the entire town. Fortunately, they were all cut down on the way by more Spartan soldiers.

The Menas turned around, facing the Spartans who then proceeded to attack it. Its shield seemed to waver on its left part for just a split second as a single soldier's spear chipped its body, but it soon swung its massive fist and sent him flying away, too injured to fight.

The Menas looked at Leonidas and recognizing him as the leader. It released a roar, rose its chunky, crystalline, black arm and shot a line of lightning at him. It was too fast to dodge completely for a baseline human, but with enough guile, it was possible for Leonidas to raise his shield and minimize the damage to moderate burns on his forearm and a crispy shield.

[/div]Drui sighed at the guildmaster rejected her suggestion that living through something much more dangerous than an examination wouldn't count towards gaining an official membership. Perhaps she needed to just speak to the one in charge of the exams about it later. Right now Drui didn't have time to argue about the matter. She yanked on Ellis' arm and pulled him towards the receptionist.

"Honestly, if I could trust you to use your seal to send us to the correct location I'd not have to do this," she muttered to herself. Drui wasn't sure what was going on and why there was a strange newt that seemed to draw some pity out of her. She watched as the woman explained the guild seal and the magic circle. She stepped over to the woman and cleared her throat, "Excuse me. What of those who don't have a seal? I need to take this guy with me, but the problem is... while he's a member he might just conveniently go to the wrong place."

As Drui said the word 'conveniently' she looked at Ellis with a smile, but her eyes were menacing, before turning back to look at Emily. "How should this be resolved?"

Ellis Birdsie Birdsie [/div][/div] [div class=EmilyContent]Emily looked at the lady in red, then at Ellis before sighing. "Why is it that I don't doubt that you might teleport to Trost...." Emily shook her head, walked to the counter, and pulled out her mana potion. Downing the whole bottle, she said, "Stay very very still, or else you might lose an important appendage during the teleportation spell." Emily began to weave her mana, letting it flow into both her own guild seal and the magic circle below. She was forcefully opening a connection to Xhorhas using the Guild Communication Lines.

"Link the path from here to there,
Use the lines that connect us all,
Bring us to Xhorhas, lest it fall,
We are the Heroes, that shall answer the call!
Open Connection! Castle Black Guild of Heroes to Xhorhas Fort Guild of Paladins!"

A bright blue light glowed from before, as a voice echoes from the magic circle. "Connection Granted. Clearing Ley Lines. Destination has sufficient space. Commencing teleportation procedure. Safe Travels." With that, the glow of the blue intensified. "Try not to get sick, this method hasn't been used in over 100 years. Godspeed, and Good luck!"

The moment they finished the teleportation, Emily downed another mana potion. Ugh, I wish they'd stop playing around. I still haven't fully recovered from that exam." It had been, what, three months since she joined up and still she still felt like her guildmates were strangers. That the walls around her were foreign. It occurred to her more than once that... perhaps she had made the wrong decision. Maybe she wasn't supposed to be with this random assortment of folks from who knows where that can do who knows what. That thought, however, made the woman give her head a rough shake with her face twisting into a scowl as she walked. She had every right to be here as the rest of them, she just needed to give it time.

She was jolted from her thoughts when an announcement began to sound from the now glowing nearby guild seals. Death knights? Such low chances of their defenses holding? This didn't sound good... what the hell was going on?

Rather confused, and a bit worried, Krysten made her way towards the reception desk where a woman she knew as Emily would be stationed. Krysten Verlet ( StoneWolf18 StoneWolf18 ) [/div][/div] [div class=EmilyContent]Emily looked up from her mana potion to see Krysten. She might not be as unique as the other members, but just that fact that she can stand among us is a testament to her will. Emily thought carefully about it. "A massive horde of the undead showed up at Xhorhas. It has the ability to overwhelm the entire city and push further north toward us and the rest of Albion. It seems to be Turneval's minions, so a lot of other guild forts are refusing orders to aid the defense. It's actually pretty bad. Risa decided to let newcomers join in the battle for this one."

Emily waved at the general direction south. "Well, I've been ordered to guard the Castle. It's up to you whether or not you want to join the battle, but do be warned, I doubt that this would be the only attack." Emily told the human girl. Despite her achievements of being in the guild and completing quests, she was no William Black, just a human, so she was honestly worried about how she'll fare out in that battlefield. However she decided against saying any more about it than she already did, considering that the Guild of Paladins were doing their utmost to defend that city. "So, what do you plan on doing?" Location: Paladin Guild, Xhorhas
NPCs:
Garheil - Paladin
Mikhel - Paladin
Interactions: Viska ( Archdemon Archdemon ), Ka'Sha ( CrimsonEclipse CrimsonEclipse ), Balthazar ( SP3CT3R SP3CT3R )

While the paladin guild wasn't as grand as Castle Black, it still was a decent-looking establishment. Fortified walls, a castle-like building, along with other various necessities and features. The members from the Guild of Heroes would arrive at a garden-like area, on the lowermost floor of the paladin guild of Xhorhas. While the scenery would initially promote serenity and calmness, the situation at hand would offer something that would contrast that entirely.

The garden was now decorated with various crates, some opened and some stacked atop each other - containing all sorts of supplies, be it food, water, or even weaponry such as swords and shields. Immediately upon entering this scene, one would easily see various paladins roaming about, talking what they need before leaving. The preparations for the attack is nearly done, as it looks like it.

Those who had arrived, three reptilian humanoids - Viska, Ka'Sha and Balthazar, were met by a young, pink-haired paladin. She wore a regular suit of lightweight armor, and carried a classic, but blessed, longsword. "You must be the respondents from the Guild of Heroes!", she said with a lively voice. "I'm Garheil, nice to meet you!"

She shook their hands, one by one, without their consent. Her eyes were filled with awe, and she looked so radiant - so gleeful, in such a time where despair runs amok. "Wow! You guys really look like heroes!", she exclaimed, clearly starstuck. It would seem that she doesn't leave this place that much. "Are you excited? We're going to fight the bad guys! It's going to be just like those epic stories, isn't it? I so excited about this, aren't you?"

A helmeted man, clad in armor, approached the three, and the young cheerful one. "Garheil.", he called the attention of the pink-haired girl. "Focus at the task."

The girl almost hopped upon hearing such a voice. "Oh...uh. Yes, Sir Mikhel!", she said, as she turned around and hurriedly ran to the barracks of the guild. Apparently, she was tasked with carrying the supplies from the storage room to place them in an open area, where they would be more easily accessed.

"You have my deepest apologies for that.", the armored man said. "She might be quite a handful, but she is a good girl." He cleared his throat, noticing that he might have rambled on about the young woman if he didn't reflect on what he was talking about. "Anyways, back to the matter at hand.", he said. "Turenval's forces are advancing. We sent our scouts for surveillance, but they have not reported back ever since. Please get yourselves ready, they might arrive sooner than we think."

He pointed towards the scattered opened crates, as well as those that were stacked on top of each other. "These are our supplies - weapons, food, and all sorts. Granted, they might not be of the same caliber as the Guild of Heroes's but they should prove to be useful enough. Should you be ready to join the frontlines, just head straight towards that door..., he pointed to a door in the garden, beside an apple tree, which bore only but a single fruit. "It will show you a path that would lead you to Xhorhas's borders."

"If you need me, just ask one of the paladins for me.", he added. "This might be a bit late, but I am Sir Mikhel, of Xhorhas. I shall meet you on the battlefield, heroes." Mikhel left them, and headed to the other areas of the guild castle.

Faust Banner.png

Faust Windfallow -- Reception Desk -- Interacting With Emily ( Alteras Alteras ), Krysten ( StoneWolf18 StoneWolf18 )

The magic dark purple glow of the magic circle faded, and Faust stood back to inspect his work. As soon as somebody walked within 50 meters of the circle, Faust would be immediately notified and automatically teleported into the center of the circle. Several more alarm-system magic circles were set up throughout the entire passage toward the vault for good measure. Even the most skilled in stealth would probably trip at least one alarm. "Goddammit, the fight would've been so much easier for them if I were allowed to leave the fort. What am I? A fucking self-centered egotistical wizard who can't actually do jackshit?" He complained, though there wasn't anybody to complain to, other than the skeletal hound that kept him company down at the vault. Years of being locked up down there had made Faust thirsty for some explosions, a thirst that cannot be satisfied under current circumstances. However, Faust at least understood that there would be dire consequences should an enemy break into the vault while the guild was fighting against a huge horde of undead.

"Xhorhas, huh? Get rid of a major paladin force, not half bad." He commented on the enemy's target of their attack. A detachment of death knights though? That seemed like overkill, unless the enemy intended to turn Xhorhas into a stronghold. "This is a real fucking war..." Faust muttered to himself, annoyed. Couldn't have Turenval decided to rock up a little later? A century later, after Faust actually managed to convince whatever new guildmaster to let him fight? But no, he's holed up underground, sitting in front of the vault like a duck.

An incantation later, and Faust disappeared in a flash of dark purple. Then, the same purple energy manifested in front of the reception desk, and the energy exploded outward, and Faust appeared... In the air... again...

Falling from the ceiling, Faust struck the reception desk with a thud, before bouncing off the desk and falling behind the desk, knocking the chair down in the process, and damaging one of its legs. "Fuck shit crap motherfucking love child of Turenval and some paladin cleric tyrfling piece of shit," this unholy incantation continued as Faust climbed back on his feet. There shouldn't be anyone here, right? The receptionist would be pretty useful in a fight, he'd expect that Emily had gone off to Xhorhas to face certain death as well, right? He'd at least have some time to tidy everything up before either the whole guild dies and Turenval's minions come for Fort Black, or until the Guild comes back having successfully fought off the enemy. His two blue orbs that were supposed to be his eyes scanned the surroundings, expecting it to be empty. The receptionist was there, and another, probably new girl. "Huh. So not everybody went marching to their inevitable doom?" He muttered, before--- "wait, Emily?" He suddenly realised the receptionist-chick hadn't left. "Oh. Sorry about the chair." He hastily apologised. "You'd think the guild would have more paladins that aren't fucking cowards, huh?" He asked, attempting to distract the receptionist from the mess of a desk he had just made. "Oh, whatever, the receptionist can't be scarier than Risa, right?"

There’s no shame in admitting that you vomitted during your first teleportation. It happenes to the best of us, especially those who have not experienced most magics for most of their lives. That being said, Ka’sha vomitted during her first teleportation. She wasn’t sure what exactly happened, but she was at Castle Black, then all of a sudden she was in a whole other different place that she has never been to or seen before. Then she vomitted all over the floor. It was a good thing it didn’t onto her companions, or even worse, vomitted on them. That would have been mortifying for both parties. But it still left quite a huge mess. Ka’sha eats proportionately to her size, and needless to say the vomit was a big one as well. So Ka’sha, not knowing what to do after vomitting all over the floor of a new place, she did the only thing that passed through her brain. She immediately ran away, following after Viska.

Turns out she couldn’t run far, since two people had approached them. One was a female paladin with pink hair, something that fascinated Ka’sha since she’s never seen that kind of color on a hair before. The girl seemed nice enough, though she seemed a bit too excited upon seeing them, going on about how they look like heroes and stuff, which both made Ka’sha shy and proud. The other was a more heavily armored man, though she can’t tel his facial features that well since he wore a helmet. So they were basically given a run down on the situation, where to go if they need something, where to go if they need to go to the border, and that if they need something all they need is to ask and it will be provided if it is available and not in use. It was a nice gesture and all, but Ka’sha just can’t focus since, well, she just vomitted all over their floor, which didn’t like an appropriate thing to do.

It’s fine, I don’t need anything.” Ka’sha hurriedly said, her voice sounding deeper than usual since her throat is a bit raw from vomitting, and then immediately walked towards the way the border was supposed to be, her steps heavy and hurried and she didn’t look back once. Once again, excellent problem solving courtesy of our friend Ka’sha. She once again chose to run away instead of handling a confrontation and facing the consequences, which in turn could create more consequences and confrontations. She knows she shouldn’t have done that, but she instinctively did. And turning back and saying “sorry for vomitting all over your floor” now would seem really weird since she’s quite a distance from them already, once again missing the appropriate time and the chance to talk. Epitome of Social Interactions Ka’sha everyone.

The muddled streets of Xhorhas were crowded and the people were running through, some screaming or crying. Some wanted to run away as far as possible, while others were too busy mourning their already lost lives. The twelve-meter statue of General Audron in the city plaza seemed to have lost its original shine, its once-clear stone now being cracked and rough to the touch.

In the distant south, dark clouds gathered and crackled with loud, turbulent lightning. Just a minute after the first clouds appeared, one could see the distantly marching army. Wreathed in darkness as tangible as a fog, yet one could see their red eyes ominously set on their target: the city in front of them.

When the archers mounted on the walls saw the army, they didn't hear their commanders desperately screaming to open fire. They were too shocked by the versatility and uniformity of the monsters heading their way. Once a moment passed, some of the archers regained their composure and began to fire arrows in volleys, but some - call them cowardly or smart - ran away.

A platoon of mages tried to cast a shield spell over the city, but they found their spell being heavily disrupted. The spell was half-born and didn't last long, as the first salvo of enemy arrows and artillery hit it and got through, obliterating some of the southernmost city blocks and damaging the walls.

One of the commanders stood in front of a platoon of pikemen and swordsmen, at the distance of twenty paces behind the southern gate. The gate opened to let them out as an advance team. The commander looked back at his men for a split second. He saw the weakness and doubt on their faces. Hoping to repair the morale, he drew his sword, rose it to the sky, and yelled out a rallying warcry, but as he turned, he saw the very face of death.

In a split second, before mortal sight could register, his adamantine armor was cut and his body was halved in the midriff. The death knight then leaped forward, crossing ten meters in half a second and she shot through the ranks of the soldiers like a cannon bolt through foam, killing all in her path. She turned and looked at the rest of the soldiers that she missed. Five of them in total.

Her glare was enough to make them cry with fear and run away. They only reason they held onto their weapons was in the fragile hope that if she went after them, they'd have even a tiny chance of self-defense. Ennael smiled, then released her wings. In seven seconds, she leaped from one to another, killing all five. All it took was one attack for every soldier, deadly precision, and inhuman strength and reflexes to kill them.

As she saw the gate was lowered again, she reached out her arm and clenched her fist. The enchanted, steel gate bent into a ball, which she then telekinetically lunged it at the center of the city haphazardly. Monsters of all breed poured in: from zombies and skeletons armed with swords, spears, and shields; skeletal drakes breathing necrotic fire at the buildings, to six-meter-tall, zombified giants with maces as big as a man, and even a fellow death knight.

Silvanus approached Ennael. He greeted her without fanfare, "Angel."

"Idiot," she returned with mockingly aristocratic flair in her voice, as she tipped her head, though the gesture wasn't well visible in her helmet.

Ennael wore black armor with silver accents, from an alchemical material conceived by her master. Her wings were onyx black, with silver streaks at the tips, indicating that the armor was built specifically to fit in with the natural color scheme. As her weapon of choice, she utilized a greatsword. Her body language was eloquent and confident, but her tone of voice was innocent and wholesome as if she had never fallen in the first place.

This contrasted with Silvanus. Very straightforward in appearance. He wore medium armor, half-plate from mithral. It was simplistic, like the stuff you'd see a soldier wearing. Under it, he had heavy mail and leather, but he hid it under a midnight black robe that he wore mostly for intimidation and to appear 'inhuman.' Under his hood, there was something of a crossing between a helmet and a mask. Designed to strike fear as much as it was to protect. He didn't appear to have a weapon on him, at least not a visible one.

He schooled his voice and looked her in the eyes, or at least the place where her eyes would be behind her helmet. "Where's Abominigar and Akbal?"

She thought for a moment, then responded, "They said they'd circle around, maybe teleport, and attack from the north. Why?"

A paladin jumped from a nearby roof, brandishing his sword and trying to kill Silvanus from above. The death knight dodged casually without looking, simply stepping back and letting the paladin fall in front of him. In an eyeblink, a sword manifested in his hand with a blue flash. He sliced the paladin in the back, then the sword disappeared. Silvanus looked at Ennael and answered as if nothing happened.

"Nothing. I just had a wager with Akbal."

"A wager? Do tell." The fallen angel nodded curiously.

"Who can kill more members of the Guild of Heroes during the battle. We're to take the Guild Seals as evidence. Winner gets one wish from the loser," he explained nonchalantly.

Although her tone didn't suggest she was interested, her wings betrayed her. Ennael's wings shook excitedly, as she said, "Can I join?"

"I don't see why not."

"See you later, idiot." She flipped her wings and took to the skies like an arrow released from its bowstring, then flew and dove to attack the defenders in another city block. Silvanus looked in another direction and his body flickered out of existence, as he became ethereal and went in the direction of the Paladin Guild. Perhaps he'd find heroes there?...

***

As defenders fought on the streets, they fell, whether it be to the zombies, or to a death knight casually strolling through.

"Situation report," a voice said as the Guild Seals flared up with blue light. "Nineteen percent of the defenders are dead, including thirteen Guild Members and twenty-six paladins of various orders. The southern wall was breached and the enemy is leaking in. Two death knights detected in the city. Magical interference disturbs positive energy, which is at approximately sixty-five percent effectiveness. General advice: avoid teleportation, avoid direct confrontation, avoid death knight encounters at all cost. Advised tactics: attrition warfare, guerilla warfare, target saturation."

The voice suddenly changed its tone: "Warning: Death knight en route to Paladin Guild. ETA in three... two... one..."

Suddenly the front doors of the Paladin Guild were thrown open. They shot from their frames and fell a few meters away, followed by a pair of mauled paladin corpses. In the doorframe, stood a dark, hooded figure with a metallic mask. His heavy, discouraging aura sent shivers down the spines of everyone inside.

Silvanus nonchalantly pointed at the corpses he threw inside. "This here." He then pointed behind himself with his thumb, at a stack of other bodies. "And that over there..."

He hung his arms loosely out on both of his sides with open palms, shrugging slightly as he shook his head in disappointment. "You call all of this... 'defense?'..."

...

Drui and Ellis teleported in, and had only a few moments of time to gather their composure before the death knight broke into the building with terrifyingly serene behavior. Ellis' lips quivered, as he whispered sweet lies to himself. Something about this all being a dream.

He blinked and looked at Drui. He leaned in closer, almost taking support of her, as he whispered quickly, "Let's run! He's not looking in our direction!"

Damn it, Ellis cursed in his thoughts. Where's Cyrus? F-Fuck. We're all going to die. That guy is about to skewer us like ragdolls!

We were warned there would be Death Knights... But he didn't assume that to be so... Powerful. It was certainly a spectacle. "Damn..." Was all he said, watching them barge into the Paladins Guild. He had luckily left a few minutes before, and was working on helping a family escape. He looked back to them, mace in hand as he offered a reasuring smile. "Come on, we need to get you out of here, ok? Come on." He says, turning and stepping through a door that led to an alley, leading the way. He knew theses streets like the back of his hand, a safe way out was not a hard. Ensuring the route stayed safe may prove to be different.

And sure enough, rounding a corner he is met with about 20 undead, all of there heads snapping on him. He looks back, seeing a bloody pike nearby. "Can you fight?" He asked the man, in his mid-40's.

"Does a red Dragonborn breathe flame?"

"Fair point." Vesryn kicks the pike up, catches it in his free hand and tosses it to the man. "Stay with me. We clear this alley, get somewhere safe, and get you guys back to Castle Black, ok?" The undead approached, snarling with malicious intent. The man hesitated, but his wife piped up first.

"Yes, yes! Thank you!" She said, and Vesryn and the man nodded, heading in to clear out the undead. They did their best, but one did end up biting the man helping them. Blood splattered and breathing heavily, he passes his seal to the woman. "Alright. Grab hold of your husband, and think about Castle Black. You both will Warp there and when you do, get help. Him being bit by one of those is not a good sign, he needs to be helped as soon as possible. Go!" She flinched away, but nodded in thanks, grabbing her bleeding husband and both went away in a flash of light.

May have been the dumbest crap he had ever done, but he saved twice the amount of lives that were lost by himself staying.

[/div]Drui felt a bit off as they were teleported to Xhorhas. The last thing she heard was a countdown before a nearby door was thrown open, a dark and ominous figure standing in the doorway. Drui swallowed nervously as he pointed at the corpses. "Shit," she swore under her breath. They had been too late to get a ward going before the assault. She turned to Ellis, "We're looking for another way out, he isn't someone we can take on."

Drui's hands glowed a rose gold for a moment and a fiddle and bowstring appeared. She raised the fiddle and began to play fast; frantically fast. "You better stay close to me or you won't be affected," she warned Ellis. It was a speed spell, she began to run in the opposite direction the Death Knight had entered from at three times the normal speed. She had not a single clue about the layout of the place, but anywhere away from that creature was better. They needed to get some distance before she'd even attempt to make a small ward, but Ellis would probably just flee and leave her to fend for herself.

"Ellis, if you abandon me and leave me to die, I will curse you!"

She figured if they could locate the dining hall, they'd find the kitchen, and then a door from the kitchen so some sort of exit. She slid as she passed by large open doors that appeared to be a dining area and quickly changed direction. She managed to burst into the kitchen and find a door that lead outside. She halted and reached to grab for Ellis, glaring at him, "We have to try and raise a holy ward. I was hoping to have more bards to make it stronger, but you'll have to do."

She moved forward and kissed Ellis' forehead, bequeathing the knowledge of the song they were to play for the ward. An old holy hymn of heroes. "I know it's asking much of you for this, but we're already here and our survival depends on this."

[/div]Lucius flew towards where the breach had occurred, armed and ready to fight. His goal was mostly to try and give support against the undead horde that was spilling into the city. He hoped to take out more than a few as well. He wouldn't be enough in this effort, but he had to try. He found a stable rooftop within range of the breach and landed upon it. He crouched down and nocked and arrow, took arm at the horde, drew back the bowstring, and just before he released it Lucius imbued the arrow with holy magic.

The arrow shot true to it's target, embedding itself into the chest of one of the undead horde and killing it instantly. Those around the arrow turned away from the arrow, scattering to put distance between themselves and the arrow. Lucius continued this tactic, trying to target specific points to direct the horde away from entering deeper into the city. He tried to form a line for arrows near the breach, even though it wouldn't be enough to stop the undead from pushing further in, it would help slow it down, hopefully enough to save a few more lives.

Once he was out of arrows, he retreated, intending to resupply. It was risky to go to the guild, but the armory there would be able to supply him with more arrows. He just needed to avoid getting spotted or engaging with the Death Knight that had been announced as arriving at the building. He thrust himself forward, gliding towards the guild and avoiding being shot down from the sky. He landed on one of the balconies and shattered one of the windows to gain access.

Lucius moved quickly down the steps, through the halls and into the armory, passing by others who were either fleeing or moving to engage the enemy. He grabbed as many arrows as he could fit into his quiver. He paused as he considered his options, he knew he wasn't supposed to go against a Death Knight, at least not head on. He gripped his bow and let his wings vanish in a flurry of feathers. He moved quickly to the commotion within the guild, reading his bow as he turned a corner to spot the target and released a holy arrow intended to hit near the feet of the Death Knight

Auriel -- Near Xhorhas South Wall -- Open for Interaction ( Birdsie Birdsie )

She stood there, ready for whatever horrors would pour forth once the city gate had been breached. Unsurprisingly, such a feat didn't take long, and hundreds of soldiers had already been slain by a single entity. It moved so fast that had Auriel not been focusing on that death knight, she would've barely seen a blur. That was one death knight, mind you. One. And the city's defenses were already crumbling like a wall made of sand. Hundreds of undead began to pour forth into the city, and Auriel felt a wave of excitement run down her spine. "This is wrong..." she whispered to herself- a whole city was at stake here, why was she excited? Drawing her steel blade Auriel charged at the numerous undead that had swarmed the city.

What made her think a steel sword was going to be useful in the slightest? Countless undead fell, and yet they continued swarming. The problem with a one-handed sword was that they couldn't handle huge crowds very well. "Why didn't I bring a greatsword?" Sheathing the steel blade, Auriel switched to a black and gold handle, inside an elaborately designed sheath. Her hands grasped tightly to the handle, as Auriel unsheathed Durandal.
1
Immediately as Durandal completely left the sheath, dark energy erupted forth from the blade and engulfed Auriel in a black aura. The blade measured 1.2 meters in length, and the gold accents on the weapon emitted its own golden light, which appeared to be fading the longer Auriel kept the blade unsheathed. Now Durandal in hand, Auriel once again charged into the undead, swinging her sword vertically at a large group of them, cleaving down multiple with one swing. With each enemy fallen, Durandal's golden glow seemed to intensify. It was feeding off whatever energy its victims had, to power itself. Where are those goddamn paladins when they were actually needed? "Damn. I need help." Auriel told herself, as she continued to cleave down undead after undead. She would probably start using holy magic soon.

Ellis | Courtyard | Fable Fable

Ellis followed Drui. He was afraid, and she maintained a twinge of confidence even in this situation. He released a frightened shriek when she threatened him with a curse, even though he intended to follow her by his own will.

When she halted, he froze, fearfully clenching his fists when she grabbed him. "M-me?! Come on, I don't have that kind of skill! We should run while there's still time!" he argued, shaking with fear and his voice trembling with terror.

She kissed his forehead, bestowing him with the knowledge of the hymn, but he was still skeptical. He looked down at his shaking hands and clutched his lute, then looked at Drui with furrowed eyebrows. "What if this doesn't work?" His movements suggested he would do it, but wasn't too happy about it.

Silvanus looked up, seeing the archer before he even shot the arrow. He calculated the arrow's trajectory as it flew and knew it wasn't a threat, so he opted to ignore it. As the arrow dashed through the air, Silvanus sensed holy radiance from it. He took a step back and summoned a shield, wary that it might be explosive, but... no such luck.

The shield disappeared into particles of mana. Silvanus casually glanced up at Lucius, then back down at the arrow, then back at Lucius... And back at the arrow. He shrugged, and finally set his eyes on Lucius. "Excuse me, sir! I think you missed."

Silvanus crouched down, clutched his fingers around the arrow and dug it out from the floor, then held it by his pointing finger and thumb. It kind of burned, even through his armor, but he didn't complain. "You must've shot it too fast and didn't get to aim properly. Haste makes waste," he joked, not concerned due to the nonexistent (to him) gravity of the situation. "Would you like this back? You can have it."

Silvanus threw the arrow with his hand. Even though it looked as if he was dismissively flinging it in Lucius' direction, the arrow roared through just as quickly, if not more, as when fired by bow. It hit the wall, inches from the Nephilim's head.

"Try to shoot again, but don't forget to aim," he jested. It was possible that the only reason the arrow hit next to Lucius' head was that the Death Knight seemed to be genuinely having fun.

Bodies flew into the air as Terra's anger grew more and more. Some of her new friends had been slaughtered in front of her eyes, and she was not having it. She stomped the ground, her dragon form coming out as she took a deep breath in. The hoard was closing in on her as she released her fire breath. She burned down the hoard ahead of her in minutes but they kept coming. She was getting overwhelmed and started to retreat to the rooftops. She landed on top and looked towards the guild she was out a ways and the building she was on was surrounded. She was so stressed about this she sat and cried a bit. it was her first day and she had already failed her deceased friends and was surround on top of a building, this was so stressful on her. "I was not prepared for this..." she said with a small sigh as she waited.

Auriel -- On Some Rooftop -- Interacting With Terra ( Octo Girl Octo Girl )

Piles of undead began stacking into a pile of corpses. Would they spring back to life? Auriel didn't know, the only thing she knew was that she had to continue to fight- losing Xhorhas would be annoying at least, and a detrimental loss at worst. "They keep on coming." Auriel hissed under her breath, continuing to blindly slice down the enemy. Auriel soon began to notice that her blade alone would not suffice- and she held out her hand. Dark energies began to gather in her palm.

"Demons of the abyss unspeakable, I beckon to thee,
come forward from oblivion's embrace,
sound forth the echoes of the void,

let thy wrath smite thine enemy."

The energy that had gathered in Auriel's palm and flew outward in a ring, corrupting the mana in the air. Several rifts appeared in the ground and walls, and tendrils began to rise from these rifts. Each rift summoned forth two to three tendrils, each of them covered by a thick carapace on the backside, with dagger-like fangs which protruded from the soft side. Within moments, hundreds of them had already swarmed on the battlefield, thrashing violently at any and every moving creature that came near them. "I hope everybody's been evacuated..." Auriel muttered, after coming to the realization that they attacked everything but her. She sheathed Durandal, the dark aura around her retreating into the sheath much like the blade itself. Gazing around, Auriel spotted a dragon seemingly crying on a rooftop. "I should probably help that out... more undead dragons would be troublesome." Climbing on top of a building, Auriel leaped across the rooftops until she came to a stop next to Terra.

"If you're weren't ready, don't walk into a bloodbath, moron." She scolded the dragon after hearing it sigh and exclaim that they weren't prepared for something like this. "I don't think even the guild can hold Xhorhas much longer. Do you need help to escape?" Auriel asked. "Are you injured? I can heal wounds."

Terra looked up. "I'm... I'm fine... It's my first day in the guild and..." she said sniffling. "as soon as I finished the test, this alarm sounded... I was told I was neonate hopeful whatever... I rushed here... Everyone around me died..." she was saying between breaths.

"I'm starting to have second thoughts... About leaving the hall. " she said as she stood up and looked down at the hoard. "I want to know something... And it's important to me..." she said as she waited for the girls response. Once she responded, Terra said her question. "When will we avenge the fallen?" She turned into her even form as she asked, tears could be seen coming from her eyes. "Lead the way... I'll follow you..." she said as she readied herself.

"Yes. I will answer whatever question you may have." Auriel answered Terra. What burning question could a dragon have in the middle of a slaughterfest like this? "When will we avenge the fallen?" Auriel paused for a moment- even she did not know a definite answer. "That..." Auriel began, "is an utterly stupid question." She replied coldly. "Right now, what you must focus on is your own survival. Dying will only mean your allies had died in vain." Brandishing her steel sword, Auriel gazed down at the hordes of undead that had gathered below them. "The dead are often left unavenged. Slain and forgotten; that is the fate of many valiant warriors. In that sense..." Auriel said to Terra with a gentle smile. "Your fallen comrades are blessed to have a friend who would avenge their deaths. The most you can do is prevent them from rising as undead. Your duty is to prevent them from suffering the worst fate." Waving her hand, Auriel cast sanctum grounds over her and Terra. A gentle, almost soothing light would emanate from the ground, and whatever wounds Terra might have suffered would begin to heal. The undead that had gathered beneath them would begin to shriek in pain, as the holy magic began to eat away at them.

"Now then, shall we avenge your friends?" Auriel asked Terra. "If so, then let us return the dead to their graves. Judgment will be swift." Without a second more wasted, Auriel jumped into the undead, slicing at them with her blade with uncanny speed. "Holy smite..." Auriel whispered, and projectile of holy light fired out of her palm, disintegrating an unfortunate undead. "We'll get you back to the paladin guild. If there isn't a clear path, we'll clear our own."
