Name
: Edward Jay Renald
Aliases
:
Age: 22
Gender
: Male
Sexuality
: Asexual
Race
: Human
Occupation
: Edward was a scholar before he was drafted. He was pursuing magical and historical studies, but due to his natural bond with a dragon, he had to give that up for the military.

Appearance
Reference Pic
:
d7m4mqq-c24e47b1-dc8a-4970-abe3-17bab1f5c526.jpg

Description: Since his dragon is not large, Edward prefers light armor over heavy armor. His chest is protected but he keeps only enough armor to keep himself safe without restricting his movements.
Mark
:
Nice-And-Small-Tribal-Dragon-Tattoo-Design.jpeg

The mark is placed neatly on the left side (his right) of Edward's chest.
Height
: 5'7"
Weight
: 160 lb

Abilities
Skills
: Besides his magical affinity, Edward is great at strategizing and sneaking
Weaknesses
: Unfortunately, Edward is somewhat of a coward and is terrible at fighting with anything but magic.
Magic
: Fire magic with a large focus on combustion. Edward has had an affinity for fire magic specifically since a young age, and he's only learned fire magic as he continued through the years of his training. He understands most of the extents of his abilities. He generally uses combustion/fire magic, which implies focusing fire magic into extremely small points of space, which causes the flame to expand rapidly, mimicking an explosion. Since he's only used fire magic his whole life, he's nearly mastered it. All that's left for him to learn is how to extend his limits.

Personality
Summary
: Edward is a kind and gentle character, and he's relatively easy to get along with. He's passionate about his interests and genuinely enjoys discussion of multiple topics. Despite his kind attitude towards others, he's surprisingly skittish for a soldier. He struggles when facing anyone of authority and can rarely make decisions without an outside influence. He'll go out of his way to help others where he can, but he can't do things on his own. Although he's always interested, he struggle to try new things. The more observant types may notice his reaction to aggression, and might suspect some trauma in Edward's past.
Hobbies
: Reading, writing, and magical studies
Likes
: Animals, art
Dislikes
: Violence, aggression, enclosed spaces.

History
Origin
: Edward originates from a small village in the distant East. The town has a minuscule population, and it's rare that anyone comes to the capital city, or any large city for that matter.
Background
: Edward grew up the same way that many others of his village did; doing menial tasks and going through each day like it was another chore to complete. His mother was often out hunting, and his father took care of most of the farm/lumber work. Edward loved his parents, despite the amount his father pushed him to succeed. Unfortunately, Edward preferred reading and study over farmwork, which caused some conflict with his father. At the age of eight, Edward accidentally set himself, and subsequently his home, ablaze. He managed to escape into the middle of a field, and when he was found by his mother and father, he was still panicking, but alive. After about two hours, Edward managed to relax and put the fire out.

From that day forward, Edward's natural magical affinity was trained to its limits. His father was ecstatic to move his son away from farmwork and focus on his skills. Edward did mostly wanton training, since acquiring a tutor that far out was nearly impossible. During one of his training sessions in the late winter, he stumbled upon a dragon huddling underneath a mountainous overhang for warmth. Edward quickly discovered that the dragon could not produce a flame, thus causing it to nearly freeze to death in the intense cold. Edward quickly set up a fire large enough to keep the beast warm using his woodcutting and magic, and the two sat in silence for some time. Edward continued to visit the dragon as frequently as he could, making sure it was warm through the winter. He doesn't remember exactly when the Mark appeared, but the bond formed nonetheless.

At fourteen, Edward's father sent Edward towards a large city so he could attend an academy for his abilities. Edward took his dragon with him and spent the next several years at the academy, even extending his stay there so he could learn more about his magical skills and a new form of study; dragon riding. Together with Se'tet, an extremely vocal dragon, Edward learned to ride his dragon like a pro and master his skills in the magical arts. By the age of 22, he was nearly ready to graduate as a junior scholar of the magical arts and make his way to becoming an official mage. However, he received an unexpected letter calling him to the nearest training facility with his dragon. With only a small amount of time to cope with the sudden change, Edward wrote a letter home regarding the new situation. He was distressed, but he was terrified of breaking the law and going home. He reported to training the following day, Se'tet in tow.

Dragon
Name
: Se'tet'ke
Age: 68 (Still adolescent!)
Gender
: Male
Sexuality
: Bisexual
Subspecies
: Western Dragon
Breath
: Shockwave Burst (Instead of producing an elemental effect, Se'tet can produce a powerful, focused wave of sound. The distortion of the air can actually be viewed by the naked eye.)

Reference Pic
:
2800x2100-164239426-dragon-wallpapers.jpeg

Description: Se'tet'ke is a pretty average dragon for his age. He stands taller than most humans, but his size is only enough to carry one or two average humans. His eyes are a bright, shining blue color.
Mark
: Same as Edward's, but placed on the left claw

Personality
: Se'tet is surprisingly tame. He generally sits quietly unless being interacted with. He's also quite protective of Edward, most likely due to the background between them. Se'tet is, however, reclusive, and will refuse to interact with most other dragons or riders unless it's important. Due to their history, Se'tet will also take massive risks in order to achieve a task successfully, thus making his flying style extremely chaotic and dangerous for any riders who aren't prepared for it. Strangely enough, it seems like Se'tet is whispering something if he hasn't noticed anyone around.
Hobbies
: Tunneling. Tunneling is a strange hobby where Se'tet will use his sonic breath to carve tunnels and shapes into the ground. He does this as an artform.
Likes
: Sleeping, lazing, sculpting/marble art
Dislikes
: Snow, socializing

Mark:
A blue rose on her left palm.
Height: 5’’7 ft.
Weight: 121 lbs.

Abilities
Skills
:
  • Jaw harp. It’s just a fun way to pass the time.
  • Dancing
  • PARKOUR!!
Weaknesses:
  • Not nearly as clever as she claims to be.
  • Recklessness is never good in an adventurer.
  • Adrenaline junkie.
Personality
Summary
:
Heather is a generally plucky person, with an optimistic outlook on a life and a sense of humor. But that’s a bit of a problem when in a sticky situation- Heather just cannot seem to keep her mouth shut. She’ll have some kind of witty quip on her tongue before anyone can even stop her. She’s reckless like that.
Hobbies:
She has a book full of pressed flowers.

History
Origin
: Just a small farming village called Jellen. About a mile from a bigger city called Hsilya.
Background:
Heather Lavinia Willowshine was born to Wisteria Boxwood and Gerald Willowshine. Heather has two other, younger sisters named Lavender and Tulip. The three Willowshine sisters (Often called “The Willowshine Flowers”) are all loved by their parents, and while they are still a handful, they always do their chores, say their blessings and kiss their parents goodnight.
Well... Heather was always a rebel. Her family were lowly tanners, making leather goods for anyone who needed it. They didn’t have the BEST life, nor the most profitable business. Heather knew this, and she took it upon herself to help bring in extra money. So when she was 13, she took the mile long walk to Hsilya, prepared to do some unsavory things.

She developed her skill for “lifting objects” from people over 5 years, a rather nasty skill that could get her in a lot of trouble. When her parents found out, they were furious, but couldn’t deny what her efforts were doing for them. Still, they forbade from continuing these heists on the noble class. And, because she knew what she was doing was dangerous, she eventually agreed to stop...

But the thing about danger, is that it can give you such a RUSH. Adrenaline junkie, Heather is. So she sets off on one last heist before retiring. She breaks into a noble’s house, picks up a couple small pieces of jewelry, and is ready to skip out when she saw it.

A big, blue egg, sitting on a plush, red velvet cushion like some kind of prize. Just waiting for her to grab it. So she did. She grabbed it, shoved it under her cloak and rushed out of the house.

When she got home, she attempted to run first thing upstairs to hide her prize, but was stopped by her parents, who immediately noticed her shady behavior.
They were furious when they found her with that egg. It sat on the kitchen table amongst all the leather straps while she argued with her parents. They were telling her to take it back NOW before anybody realized it was gone, and Heather wasn’t insisting there was no point. It would have been noticed by now. To show up and give it back would look incredibly suspicious.

The sound of cracking caught all their attention, and the three people, including the two little girls who had come down to investigate the shouting, watched as the egg broke open right on their dinner table, and a blue dragon came out in a big wet plop.

While Tulip and Lavender were sqwaking about how cool it was, and their parents were trying to get them to stop, Heather walked over and looked down at the scaley Beast. It sniffed the air and trilled weakly, struggling to get up.
Heather reached out with her hand and took the little baby’s jaw in her hand, looking down and remarking, “awww... well aren’t you cute?”
The baby’s eyes spread wide open, blazing yellow irises locking with Heather’s own purplish ones, and with a big yawn, the baby reached up and grabbed onto Heather’s wrist with her right foot.

A bright flash caught everyone off guard, and a searing pain in Heather’s palm caused her to reel back, tumbling back. When the air cleared, Heather had a new mark on her palm. A big blue rose.

Well, it was pretty clear that there was no taking this baby back- There has been some kind of bond had been made. So begrudgingly the parents “allowed” the dragon to stay, Tulip and Lavender insisted she be named Rose, and Heather, as punishment had to take care of this baby all on her own. No help from anyone. Which is way harder than it looks. This is 500 times more difficult than a puppy. At least a puppy can’t tell you it’s hungry in your MIND.

But lo, Tilly did grow up very quickly, both mentally and physically. And she became the best guard dragon anyone could ever ask for. Unfortunately, that caught attention. After a few years, when Tilly was five years old, the... “draft”, Heather liked to call it, showed up and demanded her and Tilly go with them. She didn’t really have much choice, now did she?

Mark: A sprig of heather pressed into the palm of her right front foot.

  • Uncivilized
  • Unhygienic

Summary:
Having lived alone for most of her life among the mountains in the northern region of Alrysta, the dangers of the environment has shaped Fara into a savage but formidable survivor, capable of running down even the most fleet-of-foot prey whilst also being able to fend off or even chase away other predators from their kills. However, being accustomed to stealing food away from under the noses of bears and wolves, this complete disregard of propriety has also filtered into her interactions with people and so she would think nothing of stealing from them either. This is ultimately what brings her to the capital and her current predicament.

Hobbies: Swimming and singing half-remembered lullabies.

Likes: Food

Dislikes: People

History
Origin: Northshire

Background: (Will refine it later)
Last survivor of a trading post along the northern border. Family fled to the mountains along with other settlers in hopes of avoiding the plague, following some scholar's theory about high altitude, but to no avail.

Plague killed most of the settlement, bandits and beasts finished the rest. Only Fara remains, living almost like a wild beast herself, hunting and foraging among the mountains to survive. Sometimes stealing from travelers and nearby towns as well to replace old tools, supplies and such.

One day, she stole a dragon egg that caught her eye in one of her raids on a merchant caravan, which quickly earned a bounty on her head. Still survived and thrived for years until someone actually competent finally managed to capture her and turn her in for the reward, but by that time the dragon egg had long been hatched and the dragon bonded to Fara, rendering the bounty useless.

She was then bounced off to local authorities to be tried for theft, but then came the king's proclamation and so begins her journey to the capital.

Description: This is an accurate picture.
Mark: Down the spine
6d87e82d81.jpg

Height: 5 feet, 10 inches
Weight: 150lb

Abilities
Skills
: Flying on Shiru. Aru has a keen sense of the seasons, the time of day, and the moods of the weather. Aru is a decent singer. He can speak fluent Okunese, passable/tolerable elvish, broken Fae, and he knows some dirty words in Dwarvish. Weaves baskets pretty well, which aided in his saddle-making for his dragon.
Weaknesses: Terrible climber, a hack at drawing, uses rope when roaming into the forest on foot so he doesn't get lost. He isn't formally educated, so much of his knowledge is accumulated through experience. For instance, he knows basic math, which helps as a rice farmer, but he can't write or read well.
Magic: Can make a spark by snapping his fingers, enough to light dry moss for a campfire, or a candle, etc.

Personality
Summary
:
Generally a man of good spirits. Aru is practical. It takes a bit to bother him. He can be overly confused and get hung up on something he doesn't understand. Such things could distract him from focusing on the task at hand. Arukoru is content to be a rice farmer, though he has considered starting a delivery service for his village. Due to his upbringing he isn't fond of war. Aru doesn't wish ill for warriors, but he rather not be one himself if he could avoid it. In his view, the people making decisions for the army are out of touch with the common man and he doesn't trust they're judgement. Because of this he's normally reserved and doesn't talk much when it comes to people who are enthusiastic, as it were, for military. However, he can chat a lot if you get him talking about something interesting,.

Hobbies:
Likes: Naps. Who doesn't? Aru also likes to fly with Shiru. He tries to stay away from people, because not everyone feels comfortable with Shiru around. Together with another older teen, named Jong Lee, Aru crafts bamboo and wicker faux weapons. They use these for a weekly get-together with young village boys to play-battle. This, Aru can get behind. Real death by sword isn't as fun. They call themselves Burunaito ("Blue Knights"), which relates to a myth of a hero Aokin (blue folk) Oku who called his people to fight against an ancient evil. Stories are also a favorite of Aru.
Dislikes: Elves aren't his favorite. Their games, their culture, is something he avoids if he can. Aru doesn't like hot weather. He can't stand pepper, he refuses to sit down for board games, he hates cats (though they love him), and birds scare him (childhood trauma). Aru isn't a fan of dancing.

History
Origin
: Kyowa (Tiny rice village, also a cultivator of silk worms)
Background:
The second born of seven children, Arukoru had a lot of responsibility. His siblings, aged a year or two apart, work the farm along with their parents. Their names are as follows: Sunn, *Aru, Rin, Kaito, Kazuko, Izumi and Michi. The parents are Kanna and Misashi. As a young kid the life outside of rice-fields beckoned him to run around with the other children, jump into ponds, collect bugs, hit each other with bamboo sticks and imagine they were the heroes of their cultures myths, though their favorite was the warrior Akihito of the Aokin people who lead the Burunaito army. As responsibility weighed heavier as the years passed, Aru sneaked to the woods and the caves to hold on to that piece of childhood. It wasn't difficult to find the rope that lead right to him though. To teach him a lesson, and being tired of chasing Aru, Sunn clipped the rope not to far from home and waited till nightfall to listen to Aru's cry.

Meanwhile Arukoru was panicked, fidgeting with the end of the rope, obviously cut. He could call out. Aru imagined his brother, smug, sitting and waiting. No, he would find his way. He would show Sunn! Aru used rocks and branches to help mark where he had been, careful not to backtrack. A mile along he knew something was off. Aru was sure he'd have reached home by now if he was keeping straight. He'd know, if he could see the mountains, that he was heading East to the village and not parallel with the mountain ridge. Arukoru found the land jut up and a craggy side of rock had many crevices for his fingers. Fear tingled up his spine. Aru pushed passed it. Either he climbed the cliff-face, or called out to Sunn. As a safety precaution, he decided to make his way up by a deep natural pool. It was so deep that Aru couldn't make out the bottom. If he fell, he wouldn't die.

Arukoru grappled the rocky side, with divets perfect to grab, as if the gods had known his clumsy self was foretold to climb this day. The summer had been dry, which helped him as he tentatively inched upward. Delight filled his heart as he found his footing. But then, horror! Aru felt a crunch and heard a shriek. Suddenly a flap of feathers and beaks came at his face. Aru squealed in fright and went plummeting into the water. Rocks disturbed by his commotion dropped by him. One pushed Aru down, down where he about felt dizzy enough to black out. But a warm light caught his eye and the aura it had kept him awake. It was an orb, softly glowing like the moon. Aru grabbed it just as his lungs refused to let him stay.

It was surprisingly light. Arukoru reached the surface, caught his breath, and sat at the edge, gazing at the orb. It felt like smooth stone, though it was as clear as glass. Something like powdered mother-of-pearl swirled inside. It was as big as a large mans head. Arukoru rubbed his hands over the surface, mesmerized by the glow, but also the warmth. He set it in his crossed legs and laid his head on it. Aru hummed a happy tune, tapping on the orb.

Suddenly he jerked his head away, feeling the orb shift on its own. Aru, in awe, watched as thin lines spread over the ball like spiders webs. Crack, crack, pop. It sounded like glass under immense heat. In fact, the orb was getting hotter and hotter. Aru yipped and dropped the orb on the ground, backing away. The glow shined bright enough to turn his eyes. Aru couldn't help it, he went behind the tree, and just in time. Shards of whatever it was burst like a grenade, embedding in the bark of the trees and the shafts of the bamboo. All was quiet.

Then, a soft snuffling noise had him peering around. There, small, wrapped up like a snake, among the steam of the shell shards, was a furry dragon colored exactly as the orb. The blind and deaf creature gurgled and sniffled, pointing its nose into the air. Aru, astonished, thought of the tales of dragons. This may have been one considered a dud egg and left to the eternal cold of the water.

Aru heard rustling around him in the woods. He ran out to the creature and picked it up. It was wet still, and new, and hungry, and yearning for warmth. Arukoru cradled it in his arm and called out to Sunn. This was no time for pride. It didn't take long for his older brother to find him. Sunn, equally surprised, had many questions for Aru as they made their way home. These questions of what happened turned into what to do now. Arukoru didn't know, but he'd find out.

It was hard to keep the little one a secret. Aru tried his best to care for Shiru, as they had named it, until the beasty was too big to conceal. Perhaps it was that their village hadn't seen such a thing in so long that the occurrence was strange now. The village gave the family trouble, so the family gave Aru trouble, but Arukoru refused to get rid of Shiru. They had a bond. He showed them the marks down his spine. Aru couldn't read it. Barely anyone could. When they did find someone who knew, they were told it was the 7 Virtues of Bushido. The village took it as a good omen. Aru happily went about his life. Even when the wars that came took Sunn away, he found solace in his responsibility as a rice farmer and his beloved dragon.

Dragon
Name
: Shiru
Age: 10 years out of egg/Incubation age unknown/Maturity of about 13 years in dragon development
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Hetero
Subspecies: Eastern Dragon
Breath: What breath he consumes, he can use, until it is then replaced by another, or fizzles to nothing over a day or so. It is theorized that the duration will increase as it ages. Another theory is that it may be in a thousand years or so Shiru will be able to collect breath and use them at his fancy, but these are only wild fantasies. No one truly knows.

Drawbacks:
1.) Doesn’t have a standard breath of its own. When the breath it consumed fizzles out, it is rendered breathless.

2.) Vulnerable to any breath it isn’t currently using. Normally dragons aren’t harmed by their own breath, and that would be true for Shiru, but only as long as he has a breath. When he doesn’t, he’s susceptible to harm by all types of dragons breath.

3.) Shiru will have the drawbacks of any breath it consumed. So a lot of people chose fire as their dragons breath. Any drawbacks that element has, Shiru will have. *On that note, I will need to ask what the drawbacks of their dragon's breath are, if at any time my dragon eats the other player's character dragons breath.

Description:
This doesn't show Shiru's eyes, but they are like pearls edged in lavender. Shiru is still growing, but so far he is around 36 feet.

Mark: Down the spine, just like Aru, but hidden by his hair.

Personality:
Similar to Aru, but calmer. Shiru is not as curious as Aru because he rather not explore an unknown without Aru with him. Therefore he has dulled that part of himself. He is watchful, particular, cuddly, and a picky eater. There is little he's afraid of, having had his fair share of fights with bears or wolves and such. Although, he doesn't like it. Shiru has only ever defended. Never has he sought to harm. In this he is also like Aru. Killing for food, he can do, but not to torment. When Shiru must eat, he chooses sick and old creatures. Shiru doesn't communicate to everyone, and he is content to trail after Aru.

Hobbies:
Collects shinny things. He loves stones, especially ones that remind him of his egg. Sea shells are also a favorite of his, but they rarely go to the sea coast to get them. Shiru loves to swim, and he loves to slip down into the dark caves under the earth and find items to show Aru, who is always so impressed, and they sell them. Shiru practices formations. It is his way of dancing.

Likes:
Shiru will race with dolphins when they go to the coast. Shiru also likes to fly as high as he can and then spiral down, attempting to make a tornado of wind. Same with the water. He loves to float around the rice fields, keeping an eye on Aru and watching out for dangers. He likes to fly with Aru over the forests. He loves going as fast as he can, without accidentally throwing Aru off. Shiru enjoys listening to songs. He will pester Aru to sing to him often. Shiru takes any opportunity to cuddle with Aru. It is a thing he grew up doing and despite the difference in size, he feels a sense of safety from it.

Dislikes:
Shiru can get sad when he's left behind. Sometimes he will express his disgruntlement by tearing something up, and if he's especially angry, he'll roll in a patty field. This doesn't happen often. It is rare that he feels betrayed enough to do this. Shiru is covetous of Aru's time. As long as he's with Aru, he will behave beautifully. When he must listen to someone else, it is usually a direct order from Aru or it must be someone Shiru enjoys to be around. Shiru doens't like cats, only because Aru doesn't. When Aru isn't around Shiru has no opinion either way.
