  Silas has been told many times that his mannerisms come across as quite 'cat-like.' He's very a nimble and cautious person, no one's ever really seen him trip, stumble or fumble in the long time that they've known him. He's got an unusually quiet step, so much so that he's constantly startling those that he is working with or around. Silas has been told that his eyes, when intrigued or onto a clue, become very cat-like in their expressions.

  Silas' personality can quite easily be described in either one of two ways, child-like or immature. Given the reputation that precedes him, most people are surprised at the odd behaviors that he puts forward publicly. Despite this daunting reputation, Silas doesn't take himself that seriously. He can usually be found spending most of his time picking fun at his best friend Nigel, who constitutes the serious end of their friendship. Silas can get quite pouty when bored. He makes his disinterest known, exaggerating his languid movements and drawling tone. Given that he has been praised for his skills from childhood, Silas has developed a bit of a cocky attitude, especially when it comes to mysteries. He is condescending to those who he catches red handed, scoffing at their efforts of covering their tracks. He harbors a soft side towards those in the working class and impoverished. They remind him of his happy childhood days, when he went around solving mysteries for fun and benefitting the neighborhood.
• BACKSTORY

  Silas grew up in a poor, working class sector of London. His parents were both factory workers, working long and late hours that more often than not left his older sister to be the one taking care of him. The small but crammed full residential area that he roamed in childhood was a tightly knit community. If any local shops got robbed or a neighbor got swindled, the entire community felt the blow. Showing a prodigy level knack for solving these crimes, Silas quickly became the informal neighborhood detective. He ran around the streets daily, people watching and gathering information as needed to solve whatever case he had been handed. Eventually, his reputation and success became of note to the police department who spoke openly about the boy's talents. Word spread, eventually reaching the ears of the highly esteemed and wealthy Hastings family who were embroiled in the midst of a scandal. Someone was stealing precious silverware and jewelry from the estate, but the Hastings' futile search to catch the culprit among their staff was drawing them towards their wits end. Silas was commissioned to the case, where he was to be boarded with the family to investigate the matter. The search and deduction of the case took him three days, in which he found the culprit to be one of the Hastings own sons, who was pawning off the items in order to pay for his exorbitant gambling debt. Astonished at Silas' quick wit and shining promise at the age of 12, the Hastings family offered his parents a lump sum of money in exchange for guardianship of Silas. Unable to deny their son's potential and aware of how much the money would help them, the Morgans agreed to the deal and promised to keep in touch. Silas was now an adoptive member of the wealthy Hastings family.
  
  Once procuring guardianship of him, the Hastings family quickly ushered Silas into one of the best boarding schools in the country, hoping a fine education would increase his skills at detective work. Predictably, as a child raised on the straight-forward and informal streets of working class London, transitioning into a rule abiding school geared for polite society wasn't the easiest. Silas didn't fit in at all. He was a constant target for bullies who sneered at his upbringing up until that point. The only person who gave him the time of day was a kid named Nigel Fairfax, a stoic face Silas had seen around on his own. Nigel hated the uppity attitude and stifling rules of proper society. Silas and Nigel quickly became close friends, as they remain to this day. During breaks and holidays, Silas invited Nigel around to the Hastings estate. The two did what any teenage boys would do, run around and cause trouble. Georgianna, Silas' adoptive sister, gravitated towards the two as a way to escape and rebel against her families stifling expectations of her to marry well. The trio would get involved in dangerous adventures while solving mysteries Silas was commissioned for.
  
  After graduating from the boarding school, the Hastings family gifted Silas the money to found his own detective agency titled, "Deft Hand Detective Agency." He employed Nigel as his account manager, leaving him sole ownership of all the logistics behind money, paperwork and clients while Silas focused on the detective work. From the start his business was booming, the word from the Hastings family spreading like wildfire. Soon enough, the Deft Hand became the number one agency in London. Silas worked all of the cases brought forth to him for three years. Eventually, he found himself becoming numb to the work put before him. Everything was too easy and simple, they were crimes that even the police could solve, in his eyes. When he turned 21 Silas began ritualistically denying any work that failed to capture his interest. This cocky attitude lead to the decline of the Deft Hand Detective Agency, who became known for their selective taste and high rejection rate. Now 24, Silas still rejects most of the work that comes through the agency. He spends most of his days lounging in agonizing boredom, wondering if there will ever be another string of cases that could reignite the excitement towards detective work that he harbored in the past.

  Having formed an inseparable bond in boarding school, Nigel remains the closest person in Silas' life. He's the middle son from the Fairfax family, wealthy aristocrats and well respected in polite society. He currently works as the account manager for the Deft Hand Detective Agency, the agency Silas founded when they graduated. He's become a full time partner of the agency, thus gaining the privilege of being the only one who can tell Silas to take a case he doesn't want to. Having spent his adolescent years running around with Silas and his adoptive sister Georgianna as a trio, Nigel began to form a small crush on Georgianna, which in adulthood blossomed into full out love. He's confessed his feelings to Silas, who approved of the match, but by that time Georgianna had already began courting another, who she is now betrothed to.

  Georgianna is the Hastings family's prized youngest daughter. Throughout her youth she was praised endlessly for her looks and charming personality. She was expected to marry well, something her parents would make sure of. Her childhood melted away and she became fully focused in becoming a 'proper lady'. When the Hastings family adopted Silas, Georgianna was overjoyed. She was enamored by the thrills and adventures Silas was always embroiling himself with, and more often than not, found herself tagging along. He was the one person didn't remind her of the one purpose her family made out to her: to be a married and proper lady. After Silas was sent to boarding school and became friends with Nigel, he began bringing his friend around during holidays and breaks. The three of them quickly became a trio, running around on heedless adventures to solve various mysteries. Georgianna considers them both great friends. Now of age, she is currently engaged to the Duke of Sutherland and Silas' rival, Phillip Egerton.

  Philip is the heir to the Duke of Sutherland title. He is used to luxury and status in life, his conceited and privileged attitude a direct result of that. He attended the same boarding school as Nigel and Silas. He doesn't remember when exactly he started hating Silas, maybe it was upon first sight. The detective's cocky and carefree attitude with little to no regard for the status of others around him infuriated Philip, especially when he learned that Silas was merely a street rat. With good looks, a charming personality and high status, Philip is a highly sought after match. He's used to choosing any woman he wants. Silas believes that Philip chose Georgianna as his future wife as a low blow, but in reality, Philip had fallen in love with Georgianna's charms.

  Most of Silas' quotes from his features within Newspapers have been edited or altered by the press. Silas hates the influx of low level cases he gets after a feature in the Newspaper, so he tries to give them unusable content in the hopes to discourage the media.

  when our amnesiac came to, she noticed that the tea she was drinking was excellent and would love to have more. the second thing she noticed that she was not sure why she was at this lovely cafe at 9:00 am in the morning called The Barn Owl. the third thing she noticed was she had no idea who she was and why she was there. she checked her purse and noticed she had a big sum of money stashed away. it seemed that she has been at this cafe for a while because of her empty plate in front of her. The waitress came by to check if the amnesiac needed to pay and requested her name. the amnesiac panicked. what is her name? lovely piano music played in the background and she immediately recognized it as Fur Elise. the amnesiac felt fortunate to know that she seemed to only have lost memories of her identity. the amnesiac replied to the waitress by saying her name was elise. the waitress paused and then asked for a last name. elise was appalled. do cafes normally ask for both first name and last name? elise scanned around her area trying to find a normal sounding last name. her eyes caught the name of the tea she was drinking: earl grey. elise would then blurt that her last name was grey.

  benjamin harris is London police department's head detective. he is a stickler for rules and tries to uphold the police's reputation in town. he went to the same boarding school as silas and nigel, however he absolutely despised both of them. well, silas more than anyone. nigel is just hated because he is guilty by association. benjamin loathed, or still loathes, silas due to his arrogant personality and how the rules of the law seem to not apply to him. however, benjamin agrees that even though silas is the most despicable man he has ever met, silas's heart is in the right place and he truly is a genius.

Bethany King has always been a quiet girl. She is the daughter of the kind baker in London whom everyone has a positive comment for. She has a standard to live up to but she’s not sure if she even wants to take over her father’s bakery. Bethany has always had a crush on Nigel Fairfax. It began when the Deft Hand Detective Agency first started operating and a newspaper showed a picture of the detective and his partner. Bethany’s heart leapt when she saw Nigel’s face and she basically became his fan. She knows it will never be meant to be but a girl can dream, right?
