It was a relatively bright day. Harvest had come and the city was alive after the harsh days prior. The cold. Now that the sun was showing, and crops grew, people will be full and fed. Everybody was chatting happily, several were coming back and forth with baskets of ruit, vegetable, wheat. Well, most.

There was one figure slouched from a low hanging branch. One leg swinging lazily back and forth. It being a sunny day, the most common reason would be that they are shielding from the heat. Because other than inside, the large Oak was the only shade for a few blocks. The Oak overlooked the Market. Not the best view but the guy seemed to not mind the bland scenery.

"Dar, Get your ass up. Such a nice day.. can be out there doing something productive." A voice called from below. But he didnt respond. After about a minute, a voice yelled much louder. "Darik. Dont ignore your Mother. Get up. Now." It said. That made him sit right up. He grumbled softly. "Right.. right fine." He said with a stretch. Darik swung one leg over the branch, and hopped down, landing fairly cleanly. At the base of the tree, there was a bag and two, finely crafted swords slotted into their own respective sheaths shaped into an 'X'.

He picked the scabbard up, and slung the bag over his shoulder, walking into a house that was just a few meters away from his resting spot. Instantly he was bombarded by a bickering woman. "Your tryout is soon, and you want to rest? You're crazy. Training all these years just to be lazy on the day." She huffed. Before Darik could say anything, his Mother handed him some wrapped up food. "You can eat breakfast while you travel to the place." She said

The reason why his Parents were so riled up, is that Darik had enlisted to a small section of the Kingdoms military. Due to rising tensions between his own home and another Kingdom that boreded them, so much so, small skirmishes have happened, recruitment has skyrocketed. Even amongst some of the special divisions. If you pass the tryout, they train you. Darik had been training himself ever since he was a kid. Now that he was of age, nothing would stop him. The fact that he could take his own equipment was even better. Besides... the extra money and protection fkr his family was worth it. "Where is Eve?" Darik asked. His Mother grew from her frantic yapping. "She's resting.. one of her bad days." She said.

Eve was Dariks little sister. Only sixteen. But since she was fourteen, a odd illness made her terribly ill. The physician, after many tests and many days of observation, he deemed it to be a illness casted from magic. Unable to be cured from typical elements. Since then he has had a distaste for magic.

Darik walked through the house and into a small bedroom. In which is sister lay. She was awake. But as Dariks mother said, it was a bad day. Purple rashes had covered the Teenagers body. There was days where she was up and about. But a lot is feeling sick. Its been getting worse. Slowly though. A few years at most. Plenty of time to cure her. He was sure of it.

"Hey knitpicker." Darik said.

"Youre going.. arent you?" Eve asked, looking at the bag and weapons at Dariks side. "I aint going to be long." Darik said.

The two were pretty much twins if you ignore the age. Both had raven dark hair. Darik had an unusual colour of green eyes. He stood at around 5'11. Pretty average considering his age, 20.

Darik reached over, feeling his Sisters forehead. He gave a soft sigh. "Be sure to take your medication." Darik said softly. After receiving a nod from Eve, Darik left, saying bye to his parents before he set off out of the house, and trekking through the Town.

Finally. He thought to himself. No more sitting doing nothing while his home was on the brink of ruin.

Bell looked over at one of the ladies of the village as she walked out of the house "Now ma'am if anyone asks you have no idea how she was cured. I promise to check back in when I can. But please keep this to yourself." She said as she hurried along. She pulled her cape back over her brown long hair and kept her bright blue eyes focused on the ground. She was around 5'3 so she was easily mislooked while in a crowd.

While she was leaving she looked to see some guards walking around she shuttered to herself as she slipped between buildings making her way to her house. Once she was out of sight where they would be looking she let her cape down releasing her naturally wavy hair and smiled. She loved the quiet air when it was silent. She slipped into her house before any of her neighbors could even notice she had slipped out and hummed to herself.

Darik weaved in and out of the crowd. The place was certainly packed thats for sure. So much so that he decided to turn down into the Alleyways, the maze being much more easy to navigate without people bumping into him as they rushed on with their day. As he walked, he took a mental check of everything. His invitation, his weapons, some quick herbs to put on small wounds, a map.. a sleeping bag.. in reality you'd think he was on a large journey when in reality it was only a small test to see if he was worthy of joining. But his mother always went overboard with supplies.

He pulled out the wrapped food his Mother gave him, and he began to eat what was inside it. It was a sandwich. He loved his Mothers packed meals. Much more tasty than the food she made while dining in. It was sort of a present if he had to guess. She always kept the best for the special days. He took his time on his walk. He still had time to dilly dally. He would still get there with plenty of time to spare. Taking out a small claw knife, he began to flip it idly as he ate his breakfast.

Bell hummed as she put her hair up into a french braid. She walked outside grabbing her bucket needing to get some water from the river and pick up some more of the herbs in the forest. She waved to one of her neighbors as she continued down the road. She bent down in front of the river as she slowly filled the bucket up. She looked at the water making sure she didn't grab any fish with it and then continued her way into the forest.

Once she was in far enough, she sat the bucket of water down on a tree stump and went around in the surrounding area grabbing as many herbs as she could. She was on the lookout for a rare one the Monarda Didyma. She had promised to get one of her few clients some organic tea that they could use to help keep them calm during the troubled pregnancy she was having.

Darik kept on the path until he reached the tree line. They said that the trial would be inside the forest. But he would have to find them. Shouldn't be too difficult. He began to hike through the forest, keeping an eye in where he walked so he would not trip over something like a root. With it being a hkt day he welcomed the cool shade the large trees provided him. However with that shade came harder to see the small trip hazard. Talking about such, he never saw the tree root that arched out of the ground just enough to cause the boy to tumble.

He threw his hands out to break the fall, but it wasn't exactly level ground, and he tumbled a few times. His bag getting thrown some distance away, and one kf his swords being thrown to the side.

He cursed to himself as he just stayed on his back as he collected his bearings. "Great start ." He mumbled. After a few long moments, Darik sat up wincing softly as he rubbed his shoulder which he landed weirdly on. He glanced around, trying to get back on track.

Bell looked around after hearing something in the woods but shrugged it off and chuckled to herself "It is only an animal Bell stop overreacting no one comes out here" she said as she went back to looking around. She smiled when she found a different rare flower that she wasn't expecting to see this time of year. She put it into her bag as she continued to look grabbing some of the red berries and other plants around her.

When she finally found some Monarda Didyma she plucked them all from the ground, by the root. She put them into a small bag that she put some soil into from the area and closed it before adding it to her bigger bag. "Perfect" she said with glee as she looked around for her bucket of water "oh I think I wandered alittle to far" she shrugged heading back the way she came.

Darik got back onto his feet after getting his bearings. He glanced up, noticing that he fell down a slope. Quite frankly he was at a loss. He's never been this far into the forest. He walked to his bag, checking its contents to check if anything broke or fell out. After making sure everything was in place, he went over to his swords, picking them up, hearing the metallic scrape as the blade ran over the ground. He cursed softly as he noticed one of the straps had snapped.

He secured the working strap over his shoulder, deciding to carry it like a bag. He then gave a soft sigh, looking around. "Right... where have I gotten lost this time.." he mumbled to himself. "Gotta get back on the path..." He said with a sigh. He cursed out this Gaurd for having their grounds so far away, so well hidden. He walked along the bottom edge of the slope whistling outloud to himself.

Bell hummed as she headed back in the direction of her bucket. She was holding up her long tunic dress and cloak to keep from touching the wet part of the grass. She softly glided along through the woods till she was back at her bucket. She smiled softly to herself as she let go of her dress and wiped some of the dirt off. She again looked around at her surroundings to make sure no one was around.

Before she was to head back to the village, she checked on her plants and herbs making sure they had enough soil and water. She tucked the bag under her cloak to keep them hidden as she headed back out. She went back to humming as she continued along on her journey back to her house.

Darik was now, and ultimately lost. The Woods here felt different. It was clearly unfamiliar. As he trekked on, the subtle changes he saw prior was more prominent. Its like the Woods itself had a second life force going through it. To say the least, it creeped him out. He had began to guess that he was no longer in the borders of his own home.

Movement clicked into his peripheral vision, and his head snapped towards the direction. An animal maybe? If it was an animal, maybe he could follow it. He hopped over a fallen tree, wincing softly at the crunch of leaves under his boots. Last thing he wanted was to startle whatever he saw. He continued to follow. Soon realising though, that it wasn't an animal.

However, unbeknownst to him, there was multiple figures, hidden. Their target wasn't him however.

whilst she was walking along with the trees back to her house. She was in her head humming. She was enjoying the day. She had her cloak over her and the herbs still. She let the cloak off her hair as she walked. She stopped humming when she thought she had heard some noise in the bush. She stopped in her tracks.

Once she had stopped in her tracks she continued to listen. Sure that she had heard it again she picked her dress and cloak up and ran in between the large trees. She knew up ahead one of the trees had some vines that covered a hole in the tree the perfect size for her since she had tested it out before. She was trying to calculate where the sound was coming from to determine if she would make it in time.
