Fandom 82nd Airborne (Halo interest check)

Interest check
The Units

82nd Airborne
Official "In Tradition We Find Strength"
Unofficial
"All American"
The 82nd airborne is an old unit on it's way out. A long history of airborne operations in today's world there is no more need and "tradition" is giving way to the 29th Independent Combat Unit. The soldiers apart of this unit believe after this quick peacekeeping operation they will be reassigned and forgotten.

29th Independent Combat Unit
"Death before Dishonor"

A newly created unit. They have a lot to prove to the rest of the United Nations Space Command Armed Forces. They focus on the aggressive use of tanks, pelicans and warthogs.

The Setting
The 82nd airborne is assigned to Aleppo. A planet with skyscrapers and wide tracts of land yet to be used. The peace keeping operation is more of a retirement operation giving those higher up the chance to see this ideal planet and set down roots before the retire. Their only foe is the small grass root movement of terrorists who desire a free Aleppo. The guard is lax and this is when the covenant attack. A collection of aliens hell bent on the anilihation of humanity.

They quickly destroy all airbases on the planet and seize air superiority. The 82nd airborne is caught in the crossfire of an advanced alien race and the very people they desire to protect. The 29th ICU is activated along with the planetary defense forces. Victory isn't an option.

The Situation
The UNSC is able to prevent the covenant from attaining space superiority by utilizing hit and run attacks on the numerically smaller fleet. It's only a matter of time before the UNSC is out numbered and forced to flee.

The Mission
The 82nd airborne expects all of its men to fight a rearguard action as the 29th ICU evacuates. The UNSC expects the 82nd to no longer exist after this mission. The 82nd Airborne takes its mission with the grim determination to prove the 82nd is still the best that the Army has to offer. Your goal is to find your own extraction, or hold out long enough to be extracted.

Rules
No godmodding
No TKing
No conflict if you do have a problem take it up with one another through PMs I'll mediate if I have to

Roles/Positions examples
Paratrooper- "Swift, Silent and Deadly"
The meat of the 82nd airborne. Heavily armed and specialists in airborne operations. Trained to attack, sabatoge and neutralize threats in small units.

Medic- "United and Ready"
Specialized in battlefield medicine. 82nd airborne medics are trained to save lives with as little as 3 syringes, a roll of bandages and whatever they can find nearby.

Sapper- "We clear the way"
Paratroopers trained to be experts in explosives and breaching operations. There isn't an obstacle a sapper can't clear without some det-cord and block of C-12.

Designated Marksman- "The Last Thing You Never See"
The 82nd has taken pride in their urban marksmen. Armed with the finest marksmen rifles. These chosen few are force multipliers and reapers of their chosen foes.

Forward Observer- "Eyes of Death"
Armed with radios, these troopers call in precise and deadly fire. They are the eyes and ears of artillery, rotary winged, fixed wing and naval guns.

Platoon leader- "Follow me!"
Officers in the 82nd are of the highest caliber. They hail from historic areas like West Point or graduate in respected communities like Reach. In charge of upwards to 80 men. They lead from the front.

A/N
The bare bones of the idea if enough interest is gathered I'll start adding more. Any questions are welcomed PM me at anytime.

Heyo TheLoyalAcorn TheLoyalAcorn

Sounds quite interesting and i'm sure you'll get a few Halo-fans signing up soon! I think if you were to flesh the interest check out a bit more, add in some IC and OOC rules, perhaps some positions/roles that folk can apply for (Whether that's a certain role like a leadership position or limiting what kind of trooper they can be.. i.e Regular soldiers, ODSTs, ONI or Spartans etc..). Maybe it would be worth adding in a few explanations/details to those that aren't perhaps huge-halo people but are nonetheless interested in giving it a go? Folk might be more interested to join in if it's a little more expanded and looks really inviting!

I wish you the absolute best and I hope you do enjoy your time on the site! :D (Welcome btw!)
