General History

The Leviathan, a lone god on the moon, created the world of Macha in order to escape his loneliness. After manifesting a new world, The Leviathan, generated a race of intelligent beings, known as the Partholons. The Leviathan left the Partholons to their own devices for a while, but then The Leviathan offered his knowledge to the Partholons. With this newfound knowledge, the Partholons crafted powerful technology based The Leviathan's information. Although, the technology produced incredible results, it lacked a definite energy source, and so the Partholons were limited in their progress. As a result, they borrowed energy from their God, The Leviathan, who willingly gave his energy to ensure the Partholons' happiness. The result of attaining The Leviathan's energy, encouraged the Partholons to create other sentient beings like themselves into the world. This sparked a thousand year project that ultimately led to the creation of the Fomorians, sentient beings not resembling humans; Bolgs, feral beings; and the Milesians, sentient beings who resembled humans. The objective of the project was to develop a unique race, which the Partholons deemed Milesians as their goal, and completion of the project. With a variety of new races, the Partholons required a method of unification. Therefore, they brought forth the religion, Leviathanos, or worship of The Leviathan. Upon the religions' establishment, The Leviathan marveled in his glory, and forcefully summoned a majority of the Partholons to reside in his domain, the moon, for eternity. On the moon, the Partholons were forced to worship The Leviathan. Unfortunately, the lack of Partholons and The Leviathan's energy resulted in the dormancy of technology. Thus the few Partholons, Milesians, and Fomorians reverted into primitive mannerisms, and history on the Partholons was lost, while the Leviathanos religion spread throughout the world.

During the age of decline, many civilizations were built around warfare, and basic medieval technology. The intense warfare over the land due to the lack of The Leviathan's resources encouraged societies that valued strength and domination for The Leviathan's favor, according to the Leviathanos religion. In particular, the Orainne landmass, split into multiple kingdoms made of a mix of Milesians and Fomorians, as the remaining Partholons interbred with Milesians. It was during these war-torn times, that several crystals landed on the Orainne landmass. Within these crystals laid a virus, which infected Milesians, as Fomorians and Bolgs were immune to the virus. In Milesians, the Virus altered the genetic code established by the Partholons. The code manifested a crystal entity into Milesians, which protruded from the skin of Milesians. Therefore, the Tuatha de Danann, or infected Milesians, were born into this world. The Virus' primary objective was to protect the crystals that landed upon Orainne, thus the Tuatha de Danann killed any race who came close to their beloved crystals. As a result, the Tuatha de Danann started a feud with the Fomorians, while the other non-infected Milesians continued to battle for other territories. Fortunately, the Virus' control over the Tuatha de Danann diminished in future years, as Milesian genetics supported awareness. Consequently, the feud between Danann and Fomorian remained despite the removal of the virus' objective, but due to the lack of unification and directive for the Tuatha de Danann, crystal territories became easily accessible to both the Fomorians and Milesians.

As the feud continued, and wars were fought, a clear winner emerged from battle. The Tuatha de Danann contained natural magical abilities due to their direction connection with the crystals. Magical attacks brought forth easy victories, and the Fomorians and Milesians could do nothing to combat against crystal energy, the source of the Danann magical abilities. For the time, the Danann ruled over the center of the Orainne landmass, and during their rule, a new religion appeared known as Crystallism, the worship of crystals. The Fomorians fled to deserts of Tarama, while Milesians escaped to the outer regions of Orainne, or the Edalh and Tir Berdeen regions; or remained as second-class citizens within the center regions of Orainne.

Another several centuries went by until the Milesians, with their keen eye on technology, managed to develop a method of harnessing crystal energy. This was possible through ancient Partholon ruins providing both technology and particular schematics, as well as the introduction of a new energy source, or crystal energy. After a few more centuries, the Milesians managed to create Airships, Automobiles, Trains, Communication devices, Weaponry, etc, all powered by crystal energy. The Fomorians and the Tuatha de Danann embraced this new technology, as it allowed their territories to expand, and grow. However, for cities to maintain their usage of crystal energy, they required a power connection to a crystal. The six crystals that landed on Orainne now were split into six city-states: Tarama, Edalh, Tir Berdeen, Careadh, Eamhain, and Dumbarton. Some extreme Danann disagreed with the new rise in technology, as some Danann were intensely devoted to Crystallism, but overall support was for the utilization of crystal energy through machinery.

The Magic-Industrial Revolution, or the age of technological advancement via crystal energy, encouraged trade between the city-states, as some city-states offered different minerals and elemental affinities to power particular technologies. Yet the Danann and Fomorian feud prevented some city-states from trading with one another. Consequently, the Edalh city-state became a neutral trading ground that advocated for equality in all races.

The revolution also brought forth the manifestation of the Fuaranach, robotic entities powered by crystal energy; and, Eamhain's powerful weapon. Originally, the Fuaranach were used for service and labor reasons; however, their original purpose changed to war, as the Fuaranach could utilize magic efficiently in combat, at least similar to a typical Danann. All city-states were vying for power, and Eamhain fueled by the feud unleashed a devastating blast from its weapon onto the main battleground. The result shocked millions in the Orainne landmass, and immediately a peace treaty was brought forth to prevent the feud from escalating even further. The Eamhain and Tarama war was stalled, and the weapon was seized in order to prevent further uses within Orainne. Unfortunately, the centuries' depletion of crystal energy caused an immense tidal wave to slam into the Careadh city-state, taking both the lightning crystal and the city-state underwater. At least that's what many Crystallist sceptics assume as the cause of the effect.

Currently, the Orainne landmass is dealing with the recent loss of the Careadh city-state and lightning crystal, as well as the aftermath of the Eamhain and Tarama war. The Danann and Fomorian feud is active, and small skirmishes are seen between Dumbarton, Eamhain, and Tarama. Edalh is doing its best to prevent conflicts, while providing a safe haven for refuges of the war. After all, many individuals are seeking peace within the Edalh city-state. In the Tir Berdeen city-state, an emphasis and focus on technology is present. Researchers are attempting to figure out the root cause of the tidal wave.
