all seven of you, though different, came together because of one person. and his name is joshua wellington.

well, his name was joshua wellington.

your group of friends was well known by everyone in school and out of it. you may not have been the popular socialiser but everyone knew who you were anyway. you all had your own niche, but you all had your wild sides too. you shared a lot together. tears, romance, and of course, lots of in house drama.

after high school, you all went your separate ways. some of you kept in touch. others may not have. some of you may have even ended things on a bad note. but now, five years later, you find yourself all coming together again due to the mysterious death of the very successful joshua wellington.

in his memory, all six of you remaining decide to head up to a beach house you used to hang out in as teenagers. it belonged to joshua. you decide to spend a week there to catch up, though the main aim is to disperse his ashes into the ocean, as he had declared he had always wanted.

now that you're all back together, will secrets you've kept hidden come out? will pent up feelings bubble to the surface? the possibilities are endless... [/div] [div class="tabContents tabContents02"]
the cheerleader
the golden girl. the one that's got everything figured out. or so it seems. she's gorgeous, she's popular, and she can make people run circles around her, but it all just hides the fact that she comes from a broken home. her dad died a long time ago and she's been left with her sister and perfectionist mother who constantly verbally abuses her if she doesn't do well in school or cheerleading. she's been forced her whole life to put on a perfect front, and it's turned her into a bit of a bitch. she and the rebel don't get along because she can't stand the idea there's someone else who stands up to her. [ played by constellation constellation ]

the jock
the boy next door. the athlete. another popular one in the group, and a major flirt. he comes from a rich household, run by only a father, since his mother died a long time ago. his younger sister is the rebel, and they grew close because their father was constantly on them, pressuring them into being the best. as a result, they both ended up choosing different paths than what their father intended. he worked hard to try and get a football scholarship, but he also kept secrets, like the fact that he stole money after his dad cut him and his sister off. he and the cheerleader used to date once upon a time and there may still be feelings left around to sort through. [ played by natasha. natasha. ]

the rebel
she is the younger sister of the jock. like him, she grew under the pressure of her father who wanted them to join the family business and become lawyers. he's entirely money minded and a total crook who won't stop at anything to get what he wants. she is sure he's been up to some shady business as well, which led her further away from him. she rebelled in every possible way, staying out late, going to parties, drinking. she has her secrets too though -- like how she was dealing drugs for a short period of time in order to earn money when she got cut off from her father. she and the bad boy are best friends. [ played by natasha. natasha. ]

the bad boy
he's the guy from the wrong side of the tracks. trouble seems to find him wherever he goes. he's bounced around various different foster homes and has never truly known who his parents were. his current foster parents couldn't give a shit about him either, but he couldn't care less because he has a bed to sleep in at the end of the day. he hung around with some bad company for a short while and as a result, he has a secret that he's been struggling with. he has harboured feelings for the rebel for a while now but he and the jock don't get along. [ played by constellation constellation ]

the nice girl
she's the quiet one. the one that prefers to just observe instead of passing commentary or bluntly giving her opinion. she's intelligent, always first in class, but she's been dealing with some demons of her own, like an eating disorder that stemmed from when she was in middle school and was bullied by some of the popular kids. she too, was pressured by her mother to become something great, but she was always more polite and more conservative than her older sister, the cheerleader. she loves to help people but holding her feelings in can only last so long and soon enough, she may just snap. [ played by natasha. natasha. ]

the hacker
he's the total nerd. he can always be seen with his computer, and he does jobs for people, tracking things down or getting info for them -- all at a price of course. he started this out in order to help his mother. his dad was a deadbeat who never stuck around and his mother soon was diagnosed with cancer. they were struggling to make ends meet from the start and it got worse with medical bills, so he put his talent with computers to good use to make some money. he's the guy that knows pretty much everything about anyone, but keeps to himself most of the time. he usually responds with quips and sarcasm. he has harboured a major crush on the nice girl for a long time. the rebel
theo.
Eleven days.

It had been eleven days since Theo had found out about the death of Joshua Wellington.

It had been nine days since she attended his funeral.

It had been five days since Theo had proposed the idea to head to Joshua's cabin by the beach in order to disperse his ashes into the sea, like he had always wanted.

It had been only one day since Theo began to drive herself crazy with theories as to what could have happened to her late friend.

Theo didn't get much sleep on a daily basis as it was, and needless to say, after hearing about Joshua's death, her insomnia didn't get any better. So, she had put her sleeplessness to use by driving all night to get to the beach house. Fortunately, she found someone to cover most of her ballet classes, otherwise she'd be giving up quite a bit of her salary just to return to her hometown. The main reason she left was to leave everything behind. Although she made that promise to herself the moment she got the opportunity to leave town, she found herself crawling back a few months ago, and to the person she wanted to interact with least. But Theo didn't want to think about her father right now.

Ever since returning for the funeral, Theo had done everything possible to avoid her father, and in turn, her brother, because meeting the former would mean receiving some dirty task that her father would want her to do in exchange for having her ass saved a few months ago, while meeting the latter would only result in a mound of guilt and even shame because of her hypocritical actions. Theo swore to never ask her father for anything, she even fought with Barry because he sucked up and started to work for the man, and yet, in the face of trouble, she took the easy way out and went against everything she stood for up until recently.

Theo supposed that in many ways, she actually was like her father, since he would never let her live this down, and Theo didn't exactly let go of things that easily either. Which was probably why this whole 'week at the beach house' reunion was a recipe for disaster.

Nevertheless, Theo tried to look at the bright side of things as she pulled up outside the beach house in her beat up car, just as the sun was beginning to rise. The redhead felt a bit of nostalgia settling in as she hoisted her lone duffel bag with her across the porch and into the house, using the spare key Joshua's parents had given her. The place looked the same as the last time she was there -- and that had easily been around four or five years ago.

Not expecting anyone else to arrive just yet, Theo took her time trying to set the place up a bit. She dusted here and there, set out sheets and blankets in each of the four spare rooms and shoved whatever beers she got into the fridge to keep it cold β€” because god knew they'd need alcohol if they were going to survive here for a week. There probably weren't enough rooms if they all wanted a room to themselves, but she was confident they could all adjust for a week. Theo would easily fit on the couch.

In fact, that was where she collapsed when she was done tidying up. She figured she had a bit more time left so she decided to give sleeping another shot.

[div class=post][div class=text]Death wasn't kind. Aspen knew that. It snatched where it could, taking people who were far too young, far too good. People like her father. It didn't pretend to care, it didn't pretend to distinguish. The news of Joshua Wellington passing away was like a shot from behind to Aspen, the same familiar feeling as when she’d been told that her father had passed away. One moment she was remembering the high school memories she shared with her old friends, and the next, she was stood at one of their gravestones, the capitalized words written on his tombstone and the flowers surrounding it making his death more… real. It had only been a couple of months since Aspen returned to her hometown, and since then, she hadn’t dared to get in contact with anybody from the past. It was enough that she worked at her old school, walking down the same familiar hallways where she’d often shared gentle kisses with her ex-boyfriend, her thoughts wandering about how everybody was and what they were doing. But, it was hard to imagine that the one person that had always seen the good in her was now gone. It wasn’t a surprise to Aspen when Theo had suggested the idea of staying at Joshua’s cabin for a small reunion to release his ashes into the sea. She had been hesitant to respond but eventually agreed to go for the sake of Joshua. He would have wanted it, and that was enough to convince her. The drive was long and dreadful yet a very familiar one. Aspen had been a couple of times to his cabin, but she never would have pictured herself at twenty-three years old, driving back there again for this particular reason. Every day for the past eleven days, she hoped that it was just a very well planned out prank and at this rate, she wouldn’t have even minded because all she wanted was Joshua living again. Except, no. This was reality. Pulling up to the cabin, Aspen’s piercing eyes hidden behind her sunglasses peered around, in hopes that nobody had arrived before but she spotted one other vehicle that she couldn’t recognise who it belonged to. A small shaky breath escaped her lips as she reached for the duffle bag slouched in the passenger seat before she exited and made her way towards the entrance. As she passed the other vehicle, she couldn’t help herself from taking a small peek inside the windows in hopes of discovering something that could tell her who it belonged to, but to no avail, she failed. ”Just get it done and over with, Aspen.” She whispered to herself as she finally reached the door, her hand ever so slowly reaching for the handle as she discovered it unlocked and entered. She could barely recall the last time she was here, but everything remained the same. Peeling her sunglasses away from her eyes, Aspen’s brows furrowed slightly at the silence that filled the cabin, expecting to hear at least the sound of somebody. Quietly, she crept her way into the sitting room, but with the back of the couch facing her way, Aspen still had yet to realise that Theo was asleep on the couch. With a swing of her duffle bag, she launched it onto the couch where Theo’s small frame lay before she called out. ”Hello? Is anyone here?”

barry.
Barry was still trying to wrap his head around the whole situation.

Him and Joshua had been close. Perhaps not in front of everyone else, but Joshua had always been kind of like a brother for him β€” something he had sorely needed at the time when his own flesh and blood had turned against him. Real family was complicated, but Joshua never was. Apparently though, Barry got that wrong.

Though he had remained in town after graduation, Barry never really heard from Joshua again. It was like he dropped off the face of the earth for a good few years, just like everyone else he'd been friends with in high school. Granted, he wasn't friends with everyone from said group β€” ahem, Matthias β€” but those were some of the best memories he had. Things got a little messy there toward the end, and he supposed they were still a little messy, which was why he was dreading even showing up at this cabin.

Why he agreed, he didn't know. Getting time off wasn't a problem since he worked for his father β€” something Theo constantly reminded him of β€” but Barry found himself looking for small ways to try and get out of going on this trip, after he'd already agreed that he'd join. Maybe part of him wasn't ready to face all those people again. He couldn't help but feel like it'd be a recipe for disaster. But ultimately, this was for Joshua, and that was what got him out of bed early in the morning, and into his car, speeding along the familiar highway to Joshua's beach house.

He'd made a few pit stops along the way. Knowing Theo, she'd probably stock up on alcohol, but, again, knowing Theo, she'd likely skip out on buying his favourite beer because she was still mad at him, so he got some for himself, as well as a few snacks. They were going to be there for a week, and as far as he remembered, there weren't many convenience stores nearby. He'd rather not make midnight trips just because some of them β€” or even him β€” were feeling grubby for chips and biscuits.

Barry's Volvo rolled to a stop outside the cabin and he noticed two other cars already there. One he recognised, because Theo refused to trade in her beat up car for something more stable. Barry, on the other hand, had been given a brand new car when he started working for his father. Just one more thing to try and butter him up, he supposed. Daddy dear had a habit of throwing money at all of his problems and hoping they'd go away.

With a sigh, he got out of the car, grabbing his bag and the two bags he had from his purchases along the way. The door to the house was wide open, causing his eyebrows to furrow in confusion and mild curiosity, and the moment he neared the entrance, he heard a familiar, irritated voice.

"What the fuck?"

Walking inside, Barry noticed several things. The house looked exactly as it had the last time he was here. Aspen was the owner of the other car that Barry didn't recognise, and her smaller frame stood in front of him. Theo was rolling off the couch, tossing a duffel bag to the floor with a little more gusto than necessary. It didn't take Barry a long time to connect the dots and figure out what had happened, and why she was annoyed.

The moment Theo stood up straight and faced them, her expression shifted. It was still annoyed, Barry could see her blue eyes burning holes in Aspen upon realising that she had been the one to throw her bag onto the couch, though upon seeing him, he could tell she was feeling a lot of mixed emotions.

"Glad you two could find the time to turn up, given your busy schedules," Theo's voice was soft, not malicious at all, but there was definitely something underlying. Something she was probably trying hard to keep down, given the state of things. They'd all had a long week, dealing with Joshua's death. Even Barry didn't want to get into all this drama right now.

He glanced to Aspen first and gave her a tight smile, the old memory of hearing those awful rumours still fresh in his mind as if it happened yesterday. Aspen had been his first real girlfriend, the only one he might have actually loved, so naturally, he still felt pretty gutted, having believed that she cheated on him.

"You look good," he told her, after clearing his throat. He realised, in hindsight, that he could have said something else, something to show her that he had moved on, but that was hard.

So, instead, he let his gaze travel back to Theo and he held his arms out a little, despite his hands being full. "Aren't you going to give your brother a proper greeting?" He quipped, trying to lighten the mood a little. All the time apart after their fight had made him realise that he had missed her. He just didn't know if she felt the same, and he admittedly still held a little guilt for the decisions he made in the past.

[div class=post][div class=text]Joshua was dead. No details why, or how, but Joshua was dead. Matthew had only discovered the news a day later over the internet when he came across a Facebook memorial page for one Joshua Wellington. His first reaction was to believe that there were probably many Joshua Wellington’s and that it couldn’t have been the Joshua he once knew. Matthew pressed onto the page anyway, because some part of his gut was telling him that he was wrong, and he was. All kinds of photos of his past friend Joshua covered the page, some with friends, and some with family and even ones on his own. But amongst all the photos, it seemed surreal to know that this once friendly and kind person, who loved life, was now dead. For hours, he’d lay on the bed of his caravan, staring at the blankness of the roof as he contemplated whether he should attend the funeral. He didn’t think that he deserved to, especially since they’d slowly drifted apart after graduation. It was bound to happen after Matthew had packed what little he had and left, barely letting even his closest friends, Joshua being one of those, know where he was going. He didn’t make it far out of town, though. Just enough to get away from his foster parents and anyone that knew of him. Luckily, he’d managed to make himself comfortable at a caravan park, the rent was cheap and it was the most he’d had in a long time. Matthew decided to go, anyway. But, the closest he could allow himself to get was watching as the group of those that once knew Joshua prepare themselves to say their goodbyes before lowering the casket into the ground. It was as if a force field was keeping him out and he accepted it, except despite how hard he tried to stay unseen, he failed miserably. The familiarity of her deep, blue eyes and fiery, red hair revived feelings and memories that Matthew hadn’t thought or felt of in a very long time until that very moment. He hadn’t expected Theo to approach him, let alone even inform him of the idea of a small reunion, purposely to release Joshua’s ashes into the ocean. A small nod and β€œI’ll see if I can make it” was all he could respond before he bid his goodbyes and went his separate way, again. Already haven decided, Matthew initially never wanted to go to the reunion. As the days after Joshua’s funeral passed, he waited to hear more about the reason and the cause of why he suddenly passed away, but everything remained silent. Everything he read repeated the same thing, over and over, and slowly, he began to lose his patience. He had to find out what caused the only person that believed in him to die. For that reason, he found himself packing his worn out but still intact leather duffle bag full of clothes he thought were decent looking before he strapped it in on the sissy bars of his precious motorbike, which he’d installed earlier that week. And then he was off. The weather was in his favour, and albeit never being to Joshua’s cabin before, Matthew managed to make it with ease and in one piece. He killed the engine of his motorbike and pulled his helmet off, taking in his surroundings as he ruffled his slender fingers through his hair. Three parked vehicles meant that some of them were already there, and he guessed that Theo would have been one of them considering this whole thing had been her idea. Releasing his bag, helmet wrapped tightly in the armpit of his other free arm, Matthew sauntered his way towards the entrance of the cabin. He paused, his hand on the handle, questioning whether to knock or to welcome himself in. He chose the latter and as he walked inside, shutting the door quietly behind him to not make himself known yet, his blue eyes roamed around, from wall to wall, taking in the well-decorated cabin. ”Oh, my bad... didn't see you there.” It was Aspen’s voice that Matthew heard first, followed by Theo’s and then Barry’s until he rounded the corner and spotted the three of them stood in the sitting room. The tension was evident, and with the way Aspen had her arms crossed and Theo looked so agitated, he could already sense that this reunion might have been a small mistake with all the feuds and unsolved problems they’d manage to bury slowly unearthing themselves. ”My bet automatically goes to Aspen on kicking your ass, sorry Theo.” Matthew joked, in an attempt to lighten the mood (knowing well that he'd get under Theo's skin definitely). In all honesty, he genuinely had no idea who would win but considering Aspen had the advantage in that she was taller than Theo, and she was a cheerleader (maybe still is?) and therefore had the strength, she took his vote. Finally, he acknowledged the small burden that stood in the room, wearing his money on his sleeves as he held his arms out towards his sister. ”Bartholomew,” he didn’t hesitate to speak his full name, Matthew’s gaze peeling itself away from the two females and to Theo’s brother. ”I'd ask how you are, but you seem to be doing just fine.”

the nice girl
amelia.
Amelia was still processing the whole thing.

It was hard to believe that Joshua was actually dead. When she heard the news, Amelia instantly felt guilt. She left her hometown to get away from her overbearing, perfectionist mother, and her half-sister who probably hated her very existence because of what it reminded her of, but Amelia never stopped to think about the others she'd been friendly with. She and Alex sort of kept in touch but Joshua... well, he hadn't kept in touch with anyone, but perhaps there was more she could have done.

Amelia was still unaware of what caused his death, but in all honesty, she wasn't too keen on finding out. Did it really matter how he died? What was important was the fact that he wasn't around anymore. The guy who was able to bring Amelia out of her shell a little in high school, the guy who'd made such an impact on so many lives, and now he was just... gone.

So of course Amelia came back to town for the funeral. She just didn't realise everyone else would too.

It was bittersweet seeing her sister again. In another world, she might have resorted to living with her mother and sister for as long as she was in town but Amelia shed all such thoughts from her mind before getting on the bus to get to town. Even if her mother would β€” begrudgingly β€” say yes, Amelia didn't want to burden them any more than she already had for most of her life. So, with whatever cash she had saved up, she spent it on a motel room. She didn't need to spend very long there anyway, it seemed, because Theo quickly came up with the idea to head down to Joshua's cabin by the beach.

Many memories had been made there, most of them fond. Amelia thought it was a good way to pay tribute, so she was on board, and surprisingly, so was everyone else. Of course, given past history, and years of being apart, she didn't doubt that it was going to be a little tense for however long they were going to be there, but Amelia was also looking forward to it. Surely everyone could put their differences aside for a week to celebrate Joshua and give him a proper sendoff?

Or maybe Amelia was too optimistic.

Regardless, the blonde found herself in a bus yet again. She knew the route to the cabin and she didn't have a car so this was the cheapest solution, as opposed to taking a cab. it might also be longer since there were a couple of stops along the way, but Amelia didn't actually think that anyone would arrive at the beach house till much later anyway so she was able to relax a little bit as she sat by the window, duffel bag stored underneath her seat. Nobody was beside her for now, and the bus wasn't actually very full, which Amelia was grateful for.

Almost immediately, she plugged in her earphones and focused on things that passed outside her window. She was already starting to feel anxious about what was to come, but perhaps the music would soothe her until she arrived at her destination.
