The Known Stranger
Name - Adrian Aylian
Age- 24
Role - Northern Kingdom Royal Knight
Powers - Adrian's special branch of Ice magic is what he calls "Winter's Blade" By using different handles as a base, he can create a bladed weapon of almost any shape. Axe, Sword, Dagger, Spear, etc. He's currently training to improve the strength of the ice.
Likes-
- Music, particularly softer sounding instruments. he likes to hum or sing along to the melodies.
- Training, he is extremely dedicated to his position as a knight.
- the smell of baked bread.
- Success, safety, strength.
- Watching the sunrise (usually alone)
- Little children
- Watching Families be a family
Dislikes-
- Disruptive noise, prefers quiet and concentration
- People who would interrupt a tender moment unnecessarily.
- Failure, weakness
- being the center of attention
- Slimy things, like Snails and slugs.
Fears-
- His main fear is his own weakness, that one day he'll come face to face with an enemy and be unable to do anything but watch as the people he is charged with protecting are killed/captured/tortured, etc.
- Being left alone and forgotten, treated as something useless.
- Seeing the Prince never make up with his family.
Weaknesses (Personalty wise)-
- Adrian is often at odds with himself. he pushes others away and rarely opens up, but fears being left alone. he is overly serious when it comes to his work as a knight and takes his duty of guarding the royalty almost too seriously. Everything he is as a person is dedicated to the Royal Family, even more so than to the country itself. He tends to approach dangerous situations head on, and will take out his feelings through combat (or at least some fairly violent solo-training)
Strengths (Personalty wise)-
- Adrian is very honest, he doesn't like to lie in order to keep secrets. He is also exceedingly loyal to the royal family. While he might be cold to others, he truly cares for the protection and well being of others and would rarely hesitate to put himself in danger to keep others safe. This is more than just physical danger though. Despite his cold appearance, he's always willing to lend an ear to the troubled thoughts and feelings of others. Once you're past his cold exterior, he's willing to share his interests with others and even tell stories about himself.
Bio -
Adrian was born into a relatively wealthy family. It wasn't some high noble line or anything, but he never went hungry. His young years were spent studying, especially in the art of magic and combat, and enjoying himself with his parents and various servants. Occasionally he'd be able to hang out with other kids from the village, but his main companions were the various maids and servants around his small mansion home.
At the age of 15, the earliest possible, Adrian decided to leave his home on the western border and travel to the nation's capital to join the training school of the Northern Order of Knighthood. With a promise to become a knight worthy for protecting his home, he left his home and his family behind him. Two years passed and his training was harsh. He excelled though, always ready to rise to the challenges presented to him. But as he spent his time like this in the capital, tragedy was coming upon his homeland.
Battles with western forces were common along the border where he'd lived most of his life. One fateful day the town's defenses were overwhelmed and was invaded. By the time dawn broke on the next day, the town had been burnt to the ground. Survivors were sparse, only those who had fled at the earliest signs of danger. Adrian's parents, the servants he'd grown up with, even those few kids he'd played with as friends, none of them could be counted among those who had made it out. At first Adrian did not believe the news, but upon receiving permission to travel to his homeland to see for himself, he found it was true. his family had perished while he'd been training safely in the capital.
Adrian returned a changed person. He grew increasingly cold to the other knights, no longer joining them in the evenings or speaking to them during practices. the people he sparred against became only obstacles to beat, no longer people to compete with. His grief withdrew him completely into his training, and while he abandoned the company of those around him, his skills soared. if he was not practicing with a sword, he was training his magic. If not with his magic, then with his sword. Soon Adrian found himself training not with swords of steel but rather blades made of his own magically created ice.
While his demeanor drew the ire of other knights, his skills quickly impressed those in the higher ranks. Few people had such skill with magic and combat. At the age of 20 he was indoctrinated into the Royal knights. Almost as soon as he joined the Royal Order, he was thrown out onto the battle field. Battles against the West and the South were frequent, and Adrian saw many battles under the direction of Royal Prince and Commander Argenix. Ironically, it was the battlefield that began to open Adrian back up again. Argenix was an incredible person, Adrian could not help but admire him and the tales of his sister who commanded the Silver Legion. He grew attached to the Prince, and cared deeply for his safety.
His time on the battlefield would be cut short however. After a raid targeted Royal daughter Lynnette, it was decided the princess needed extra, personal protection. Adrian was chosen as one of Lynnette's personal guards. So Adrian traveled back to the capital and followed Lynette wherever she traveled during the next year. Lynette was a kind and lovely person, simply overflowing with warmth. Just as Adrian found himself drawn to Argenix's presence, he found himself greatly enjoying his time and talks with the princess. He made a promise to himself, and to his dead family: That he would dedicate himself fully to the well being of the Royal family. They would be his new family, and he would do anything for them.
As the wars died down and the royal family returned home, Adrian was distressed to see a rift growing between the Eldest Daughter and the Prince. He worked to help ease their fighting and try and reunite the two, but with little success. He was careful not to pick a side in their fight, for he loved all members of the royal family and could not bare to turn against any of them.
