DESCRIPTION —. hidden in plain sight within corners of the school library, the mass of bodies crowding the hallways, zemora shelbia resembled a ghost rather than a human during her high school years. overshadowed by her step-sisters popularity and burdened by the hungry need to succeed and excel, high school proved as more of a hell than the girl would ever admit.

she was a shell of herself, awkward and passive with little to no sense towards social cues. on most occasions, the only time her dulcet-like voice could be heard was when answering a question in class or when someone was asking her to do her homework. when it came to activities other than partying, zemora was easily impressionable and never put up a fight when others held a critical regard against her.

until graduation, her only solace was the group of people her step-sister introduced her to. and even then, that bit of joy in her life was gone too.

in her university years, zemora took time to liberate herself of the shadows she hid in, becoming more vocal and a larger presence in life. with her liberation came acceptance that though she wasn't the most social of people, she could certainly rise to the top with her intellect.

now at twenty-three, she is hardly the girl she left behind in the halls of her high school, cowering away from interaction and all things fun. now, she is confident in herself, evident in the strides she takes in polished high heels, brazen and candid, refusing to let anything stand in her way to success.

BACKSTORY—.
⌲ zemora was born to gene shelbia and ayelet shelbia on december fourteenth, her wide eyes opening within a hospital room and surrounded by her parents and relatives. she was a christmas miracle to a couple that had struggled for so long to bear a child.

⌲ she finds herself returning to the hospital multiple times, her mother confined to a hospital bed each and every time. she's too young to understand anything aside from what her father tells her: "mama isn't feeling too well, zee. she's going to go away soon."

⌲ ayelet shelbia passed when her daughter was only four years old. grief-stricken, the widowed father and his daughter migrated to the united states to start anew. zemora had difficulty adjusting to the foreign language and culture, and was prone to emotional outbursts because of this.

⌲ it wasn't until her father met alana's ( the it-girl ) mother, diane, that zemora finally allowed herself to properly adjust. her and alana became quick friends, and after three years of their parents dating, they could officially call one another sisters.

⌲ though it took her several years to become comfortable with the english language and culture, zemora excelled in her education. she had always perceived her mother's dying wishes to be that zemora was happy and successful, so she intended to see through those wishes and be at the top. for all thirteen years of schooling, her name was among the top students.

⌲ high school was a tumultuous time for the girl. alana, who had been at her side since they'd first began attending the same school, had fallen in with a more popular setting than zemora was comfortable with. the people that her sister hung out with saw zemora as more of a free homework ticket than a person, and she often spent hours upon hours at night, finishing assignments for students that would pay her to do so.

⌲ it wasn't until later in her freshmen year that alana introduced zemora to her group of friends, seven other people with varying personalities that seemed to all work well together. though she was hesitant at first, she fit right in, and even went so far as to have a brief crush on leonard before he and alana began to date. all was well for the girl, and she held high hopes for her remaining years of high school.

⌲ though zemora had her group of friends that she could trust and confide in, there was still peers that detested her every action. one night, she had caught a stomach virus that left her attached to her toilet nearly every ten minutes. unfortunately, she'd been paid that morning by a member of the football team to complete his homework for the following day. when he learned that she hadn't completed it, he and two of his teammates ambushed her in the school parking lot. they tore her book-bag apart, ripping her textbooks and breaking her supplies in half. as distraught as she was, zemora hadn't told a single soul what happened, and instead gathered as much money as she could to replace everything that night.

⌲ from that moment forward, zemora refused any offers of payment for homework, which gave her the cold shoulder and a deadly glare by many of the popular kids in the hallways and classes. however, her decision benefit her own grades further, and gave her room to even apply for an internship at the mayor's office.

⌲ zemora graduated high school alongside her friends, with the valedictorian title, with her associate's degree, and with a scholarship to yale university. though leaving her friends was difficult for her, she happily welcomed her new future at an ivy league university.

⌲ she graduated yale with a double master's in political science and business, and with a perfect record and lengthy recommendations, zemora is now a secretary to the ambassador of israel, a steady job with a generous pay.

⌲ though she's only been at her job for more than a few months, her boss was kind enough to allow her two weeks to mourn anna in peace, surrounded by the friends she lost contact with following their years of youth.
