"If you can dream it, you can do it!"

Welcome to the University of Waldovia!!

It's that day you've all been waiting for! (No, not the first day of school...)

Today is the fourth annual "Welcome to Waldovia Day," to celebrate the arrival of new students and the return of our other students! It's almost like a carnival: there's games, karaoke, and you get to roam around the school all you want! Everyone's mostly hanging out on the quad, though, but it's probably because there's some cornhole tournament going on...

But there's plenty of other things going on! Classes aren't starting for a few days, and rumor has it there might be a bonfire tonight!

Meet some new friends! Test out those powers you have (or got from your family heirloom)! Just don't burn anything down, okay? ; )

Specific Time: Around 10-ish AM, Early/Mid August

It was welcome to Waldovia day. That meant plenty of people were probably hanging out together. Alina had seemingly decided to be alone under a tree. Why was she avoiding human interaction? Perhaps a sense of guilt. She spent so much of her recent life hanging out with the popular kids in a desperate attempt to avoid her mother.

Instead she had her personal notebook and been quietly studying notes she had been making. For a long time she questioned the existence of wonderland and wonderered why her mother would always be so secretive about it. Alina sitting in the tree exuded a kind of sadness. She knew she should be out playing games, making friends. Anything but sitting here under a shaded tree.
But she couldn't bring herself to do it. She had spent plenty time researching from the library about anything regarding her mother. Every source seemed to agree that Wonderland indeed existed. Alina didn't want to believe it. Her whole life had been based around her mother refusing to divulge too many details about Wonderland. Anytime Alina had gotten too curious, her mother simply smiled and said that it didn't matter anymore because Alina existed. Still Alina had never known or met her father. She sacrificed a childhood trying to run away from the problems whenever things got hard.

Welcome to Waldovia Day
Not one source contradicts wonderland. However nothing talks about Alice having any romantic relationships. Most of her life after having me is relatively undocumented. It's like she just decided to try to have a quiet and calm life. I too remember the attention from various kingdoms in my early childhood. But quickly on she had decided that we should move away from all of it in the countryside. It does seem she was hiding something more than just the identity of my father. Something must have went down sometime after she grew up after her adventures in wonderland. Something bad from the way she always seemed slightly sad whenever I got too curious about Wonderland.

End Journal Entry #32

Deeply absorbed in her notebook she ignored the festivities going on. The hot summer didn't always make it for Alina's choice in extravagant designer clothing. She had considered toning down her fashion choices, they were another legacy of her high-school years and a bit of a reminder of how bitter she used to be and still was to an extent. She was still mad at her mother but she wouldn't let that affect her personal life anymore.

She sighed. The blonde knew she should try to converse with people again soon. She had ignored many faces in the last couple weeks. She began to pack her purse with her notebook. Maybe it was time to head out and see what was going on. She had heard rumors about some kind of corn-hole tournament going on and a bonfire in the night. Hopefully that meant S'mores. Chocolate was a good way to drown out her emotions. She still wanted to uncover the secrets of her mother's past but didn't think anyone would want to help her. Why would the daughter of Alice of all people be the one person to question Wonderland. They all probably thought Alina would have visited Wonderland all the time growing up, which unfortunately wasn't true. That could wait for now though. Standing up she began to walk towards the festivities, leaving the comforting shadow of the tree behind.

$86. $86 was how much money Azura had acquired in the amount of time it took her to speak with two very unsuspecting, very rich upperclassman. Would they be back for more? Sure. And when they came back to her, believing she was interested in hooking up, more money would come her way. The young girl had learned only from the best! Her daddy used to be a very famous con man back in New Orleans, and although his poor tortured soul was now rotting in Hell, Azura was very adamant about keeping his legacy alive. Of course her determination stemmed more from selfishness than honor for the family name, but nothing could be done about that.

Waving an innocent little goodbye to the young men, Azura took her leave to go find some food to eat now that she was practically rich. Rich compared to the festival's prices at least. Hot dogs, burgers, corn on the cob... Azura shrugged. Why not all three? People always say money can't buy happiness, but according to Azura having a full stomach, a nice place to sleep and some good reading materials was all someone needed to be happy. And how does one get all of those things? Money of course, and whoever came up with that ridiculous phrase was a complete fool in her book.

"Honestly, what do they even have this festival for? Just welcome us back for another year of torture like any other school does and get it over with." Azura mumbled to the black cat named Balam. Balam wasn't her choice, and if she had had it her way his name would've been something low- key like Bob. But all demons have some weird thing about keeping their original names as she came to find out, and honestly she didn't care enough to fight with it.

"Do behave Azura. And do not whine to me about your specie's stupid customs. I am here merely to keep you safe, not to hear you complain." She rolled her eyes but said nothing, instead favoring the hot dog in front of her. Today was going to be tedious.

Ella's dialogue color: #fba0e3 || Ella's location: Courtyard
Alex's dialogue color: #1338be || Alex's location: Courtyard

With this being the fourth "Welcome to Waldovia Day" that Ella would be attending, one may have imagined that she would have been used to it by now. She was a senior this year, and yet even after going through this day as a freshman, sophomore, and junior, she still appreciated the liveliness that the day's energy always held. They were back on campus after a summer off. For some, being back was a good thing: reunited with friends, enrolled in interesting courses, a break from family... For others, it was less pleasant: feelings of homesickness, the dread of heavy course loads, and the realization that the carefree, warm summer days had to be put to rest once again. For Ella, it was a mix of both emotions. She loved Waldovia; she thrived here. Her mother may be the Queen of the Faraway Kingdom, but Ella claimed the title of Queen of Waldovia. She had friends, popularity, a sparkling academic record... everything she could have asked for. At the same time, her summer had been so lovely. There had been so many fabulous balls, countless diplomats visiting the palace with lavish gifts, reunions with old friends. Oh, it had been so wonderful! All good things must come to an end, though, Ella had rationalized before returning to school. Besides, this year was going to be her best one yet. She was a senior, and she was going to do her final year at the school well in all regards.

"So, any questions?" Ella chirped, glancing around the group of ten to fifteen freshman that formed a small flock in front of her. While Ella was a part of various clubs and organizations through the school, the impromptu tour that she had just finished giving the group hadn't been anything official. Rather, the daughter of a lowering ranking royal dignitary from her kingdom had spotted her earlier in the day, and had been nearly clinging to her ever since. Along the way, friends of the girl latched on and what had started as Ella doing the Princess-like thing and being polite to a friend of the family, had turned into her having to play camp counselor to a group of overly excited girls. On one hand, Ella didn't necessarily mind. One could never have too many little minions ready to do your bidding for you. A Queen could never get her hands dirty; but she could have others do the dirty work for her. Besides, Ella had a sometimes-problematic desire for control. She enjoyed exerting her dominance, bolstering her knowledge and displaying how well-spoken, charismatic, and perfectly poised she could be. At the same time, she also wanted to relax. A summer full of Royal responsibilities was taxing on even the most seasoned of princesses, and Ella was no exception.

After answering a few questions, one about who Ella believed to be the best party-thrower on campus, another asking about an infamously strict professor, and a few hoping to know what Ella's plans for the afternoon were, she excused herself from the group of overly excited and energized younger girls. She had been one of them just a few years ago, but god, she hoped her voice had never sounded as irritatingly peppy and chipper as some of theirs did. Thankfully, while her thoughts weren't always as kind as her royal reputation would have some imagining them to be, Ella was always well composed enough to ensure that those thoughts rarely reached her expression. She had her impeccably kind mother's reputation to live up to, and admittedly, that was pretty hard sometimes.

"Are you seriously still playing this silly game?" Ella's infamous eye roll graced her face, though eventually, the smile tugging at the corners of her lips won her expression over as she approached her brother. Athletic and surprisingly even more competitive than Ella was, it was no surprise that Alex was still involved in whatever this corn hole competition was. It didn't seem to matter what the sport or event was -- if there was the potential to be crowned the "winner" of it, there was a 99.99% chance that Alex wanted to be involved in it. Thankfully for himself, he was generally quite athletic and skilled in physical games, or else his bad temper would have spoiled his similarly clean reputation by now.

"What, did you really think someone would be able to knock me out of the running so soon?" Alex retorted, finishing off the rest of his water bottle as he stepped towards his sister. He and his teammate weren't competing this round, so he wasn't in any rush to leave the area off towards the sidelines were various beverage tables were set up. They had won their last round and were waiting for the match beside them to end so they could see who they would be versing next. "I'm insulted," he said, feigning disappointment in a teasing sort of way. "Where'd all your little groupies go, anyway?" he said, tossing a bottle of water to Ella.

Again, her brother won himself an eye roll, though a less enthused one. "Be nice," she chided half-heartedly, her gaze skipping beyond him as she surveyed the area. Lots of familiar faces; many of whom she had already run into today, so hellos weren't necessary at the moment. A moment of peace was welcomed, and she paused in responding to her twin for a few moments as she sipped the cold drink. "I refuse to have this year to start off on anything less than a perfect note."

❄ Runa ❄

Welcome to Waldovia!

The banner was huge, the words glistening in sparkling glitter that reminded Runa of frost. It hung from the tops of two tall maypoles decked out in what she supposed must be the school colors.

There were people all around her, every one of them a stranger. Even in Arendelle, she had the comfort and familiarity of speaking the same language fluently. Her mother had taught her enough to be conversational in all the languages of the major kingdoms, but Runa was nervous. Hopefully her accent would just be seen as cute and she could just smile her way out of conversation...

This isn't like me...

Runa was a happy, social person most days. Of course, being the introvert that she was, she always retreated back into the forest to seek the silence and peace that nature offered. Here at Waldovia, there was no forest full of friendly spirits and no Mother to comfort her.

She was alone.

Literally.

The other freshman girls she'd been with had flocked around a tall, gorgeous girl who looked old enough to be a senior. Now, Runa found herself utterly out of her element in a foreign kingdom with no one to speak to or any idea of what to do.

She spotted a large, handsome tree a ways away, it's long branches beckoning with the promise of some familiarity. With a wide, joyful smile, Runa ran from the mass of strangers and towards the tree. However, she stopped short a few feet away when she saw with great disappointment that another girl was already there, face buried in what looked like a Journal of some sort.

"Hi." tried Runa pathetically.

It seemed there was another person who found Alina just before she got up to go check out the festival. It was a girl Alina hadn't seen before. She looked disappointed. Which led Alina to believe that she wanted to be alone under the tree. She had seen that kind of look before. It mirrored Alina's desire to spend time alone avoiding people these last few weeks. Luckily for the stranger Alina had mustered up the courage to go leave the comfort of the shady tree.
"Hi...Can I help you? If you're trying to take the spot feel free. I was just leaving anyways." Alina said packing up her notebook into her purse and dusting off her clothes.
Alina didn't know what else to say. She wanted to check out the festivities but wasn't sure if she should just go or try to figure out what the girl looked so out of place for.
"Are you okay? You seem alittle down." Alina narrowly avoided the fact she was feeling down. But she didn't need or want to explain herself to anyone today. For one day she simply wanted to forget about having to decipher every clue about her mother's past. Every out of place fact, every lie. For one day she decided she would try to simply enjoy herself like she had used to.
This girl who also seemed down however was quite perplexing. Alina felt like she should be giving some kind of pep talk and invite her to come with her but her own emotions prohibited her from trying.
So Alina just stood awkwardly standing, unsure of whether to go or try to ask the girl what was going on.

For a moment Alina had looked down at the ground at her shadow. Her own friends would want an explanation of her recent behavior soon. And Alina didn't really want to hear any of their complaints.
She knew exactly what being unable to communicate was like. So maybe being nice was something she was obligated to do. Other people had problems that ruined their lives all the time and Alina was no stranger to such problems. So yes despite not knowing anything about the strange new girl that showed up she would invite her to come check out the festivities.

"You wanna come with me? I heard there are some games set up around the festival. I bet it could be fun." Alina said pointing towards the courtyard.
Alina wasn't really a huge games person but she never really gave them a try. If the girl didn't want to follow her then she could atleast feel easier leaving her behind.
"I'm Alina by the way." Leaving out the fact she was Alice's daughter. Honestly she never liked the reactions she got. People always seemed so excited to hear about Alice and always seemed to think it was a good thing. So mentioning her mother would only ruin this day even more.

Lily cleared her throat pointedly, raising a perfectly manicured brow at the freshmeat drooling at her feet. "You're blocking my way sunshine." she drawled, pulling her purse higher up on her shoulder as she shifted from one foot to the other. "That means move. Now."

With the final warning note in her voice, the boy swallowed nervously and darted away, leaving the redhead to roll her eyes and sigh as she carried on her way to the festivities. While this was the fourth year the school was holding this little party, this was her third year attending. She'd been impressed as a freshman, but well. Now it was starting to get a little old.

The sun was shining brightly and Lily cursed herself for forgetting her sunglasses back in her room. Guess she was staying in the shade this year then. She couldn't wait for it to be dark out. While the festivities were going on and everyone was being all happy and jolly, the bonfire was what she was looking forward to. If nothing else, the heat from the fire was nice against her skin. Lily smiled at the thought of it.

She walked past the karaoke and games, making a mental note to possibly double back and look into the stands further once she'd relaxed some. "Ah, finally," she grumbled, brushing her hair over her shoulder. She'd finally found the food stands. She was dying for a good cup of coffee. She thanked the fairy godmother that due to all these high and mighty rich princes and princesses there was enough money in whatever budget the school had to get some decent food.

"Large white chocolate mocha, thanks." she said to the worker once it was her turn in line. Minutes later, with a drink in her hand, she turned back to face the crowd of students that had grown while her back was turned.

"Junior year...here we come." she sighed, taking a sip from her cup.

Dialogue Color: #008000 || Location: Courtyard

Considering that he was probably one of the friendliest and kind-spirited people to currently call themselves a student of Waldovia, it made sense that Gabriel had had a smile on his face for most of the day so far. While many of his friends had come to visit him during summer break (it was hard to put words to just how beautiful the Kingdom of Maldonia was in the summer), and while he had also visited some of them during that time in their homelands too, it was different being back. Growing up between two different places that he had called home: Maldonia, and New Orleans, it hadn't been too hard of a transition to throw a third "home" into the mix when he started at Waldovia. He was adaptable and adjusted to most situations easily, but especially when he had made so many friends over the years at school, the inevitable return at the end of the summer wasn't so dreadful on his end. The only part that he did dread was the actual school work. Gabe tried, he really did, but he just wasn't a bookworm. He could study for hours only to get a C+ and while he was used to it at this point, it was still pretty frustrating. He was returning this year with the mindset that he was going to push through and finish with a solid 3.0, but he also wasn't putting too much hope in that. Luckily, as many people here could relate, he was well off enough that not getting a 4.0 wasn't going to affect him in "real life" much, but understandably, it was still a weakness of his that he wasn't fond of.

He didn't have to worry about grades just yet, thankfully. Today, the focus was on fun, and Gabriel was more than willing to get on board with that. For the past hour or so, he had been enthralled in a surprisingly competitive cornhole tournament. Then again, with Alex Charming as his partner, the surprisingly competitive part was less surprising. While Gabe loved some good competition too, his competitive spirit couldn't even begin to rival that of his friend's. Gabe was more focused on the fun than he was on the winning part, but with Alex, he usually got the best of both worlds in regard to that, so he would take it. They were in between rounds right now, and in a move that wouldn't shock anyone, Gabe was taking the momentarily lapse in game time as an opportunity to help himself to some of the food that was beginning to be churned out from various stands stationed around the courtyard. He already knew that none of it would compare to the food that came out of his mother's kitchen, but that was okay -- his expectations were set to a reasonable level, and his appetite was always big enough that he was never too picky. While funnel cake didn't compare to beignets at all, despite both being fried, powdered sugar covered treats, Gabriel found himself with a sweet tooth this afternoon, so that was the booth he headed towards first.

"Whoops! Hey, sorry, my bad!" Jun called out, dodging and dancing out of the way and around the people he was darting past. He'd been up late the night before rehearsing and perfecting his latest dance number, he'd lost track of time and hadn't made it back to his room until at least one in the morning. That led to him waking up late, thus leading to him running late to the start of the welcome celebration. Something he was extremely worried over, this was one of his favorite things about the school.

He'd been there at the first year the school opened, and here he was four years later. It was always a good way to meet new people and get ready for life at the school. Sure, some people weren't too happy about starting - he'd already seen Lily send a freshman running away from her - but there were plenty of people who were taking full advantage of the festivities! Always one to look on the bright side of things, this was all that Jun could focus on.

He jogged to a stop beside the games area, eyes lighting up at the karaoke section. Well, once he found some of his friends, he knew exactly where he'd be spending a good portion of his time today. He let out a small laugh at the thought, remembering some of the antics he had gotten into the last three years on days like this.

Jun spun on the heel of his feet, looking around for someone he might know. Sure, he enjoyed helping the freshman who came up to ask him for help, he still would prefer to reconnect with his friends after a summer away. After another summer of his parents claiming they understood he didn't want to go into politics on repeat while dragging him along to numerous meetings they both had to attend, he was ready for some actual fun.

"Let the year began!" he sighed, a small grin on his face.

Today had been a lot. This was Catarina’s first day at Waldovia, and even if it wasn’t an official day of classes yet, it was busy enough to rival a real school day. Between moving into dorms, attempting to acquaint herself with such a grand campus, meeting countless new faces, and jumping between various welcome events, it would have made a lot of sense if Cat was already ready to pass out in bed. Luckily, Cat was Cat, though. When it came to her, energy seemed to be a limitless resource, and socializing only increased the supply, rather than depleting it as it did for most people after a while. While Catarina was excited to be here, her mother was arguably even excited that her only child was at the newly renowned University of Waldovia. It was quite possible that Drizella was delusional enough to believe that Catarina had been accepted because the world just knew that their blood was meant to mix with that of royalty, somewhere down the line. Even if she wasn’t – even if she was fully aware of her selfish reasons for wanting her daughter to do what she couldn’t, and establish herself as a royal for the glitz, power, riches and reputation – it wouldn’t have mattered much. The end goal was the same either way: there were expectations that Catarina was going to find a prince to marry while she was here. Learning new things and developing a fresh outlook on the world certainly was not the priority, if you asked the elder Tremaine. And if Cat could soil the reputations of Cinderella’s children while she was at it… well, that would just be the icing on the cake.

Whether Catarina was fully on board with her mother’s demands was yet to be determined. Her relationship with the woman was complicated at best. In her defense, while Drizella was just another villain to the rest of the world, to Catarina, she was her mother. The woman who gave birth to her, who raised her, who shaped her to be who she was today. Granted, she hadn’t done a great job at being a mother and putting her child first, but Cat didn’t know any better. She had lived a pretty sheltered and unconventional youth, so she didn’t have friends from stable families with loving parents to compare her own situation to. She knew what she knew, and even if she knew that her mother’s choices had been morally wrong and had cost her her freedom, she also knew that her mother was the only family she had. Drizella’s mother had disowned her for getting pregnant out of wedlock (nonetheless in a mortifying way, where she had been tricked into believing Catarina’s father was royal), and her sister was more good than bad now – a shame to the family. While Cinderella, being as fair and kindhearted as she was, had attempted to take Catarina in various times throughout her childhood when Drizella ended up in sticky legal situations, Drizella always refused, and Catarina wasn’t ever even aware that these offers had been on the table. Drizella would have preferred her own daughter suffer and go without, than to allow Cinderella to think that she needed any of her pathetic help. Strangely, though, Catarina’s opinion on her ex-step aunt and ex-cousins wasn’t as bad as one might have imagined given how she was taught to perceive them. She didn’t think highly of them or anything, but she had also never met them, and she was always somewhat intrigued by the idea that she had an extended family – even if they weren’t biological family.

The Charmings weren’t on the top of her mind today though, especially since she had found herself hanging around more children of evil backgrounds than good so far, so she had missed the fangirl like group of freshmen that had apparently already been charmed by Ella Charming herself. While Catarina had never met Ella or any of the Charmings, she certainly knew what they looked like enough to recognize them. They were beloved leaders of the kingdom that Cat had been raised in, so they were just about as “famous” as one could be within the kingdom. Even if it was done without conscious effort, it was probably for the best that she hadn’t crossed paths with either of the twins yet. There would always be time for trouble later, but now – now was time for sweets. There were few things that Cat loved more than candy and sweets, and her lack of a diabetes diagnosis essentially left her a medical mystery considering how much sugar she consumed.

Twirling a lollipop between her lips, she glided past booths offering more junk food than her heart could handle. It was too hard to decide what she wanted to eat, and she found herself wandering until she nearly bumped into a red headed girl. One of Cat’s most noteworthy traits was her confidence; she was bold and outspoken. She didn’t take things to heart, and she rarely resisted the urge to stir up some innocent trouble when the opportunity presented itself. “Aren’t you supposed to come with a bow and arrow, or did they downgrade on the second generation of you people?” she inquired curiously, taking a piece of the red hair in front of her between her fingers and examining it for half a second before allowing it to fall back into place. She knew enough to know that just because someone was a redhead, they weren’t automatically related to the royal Merida of DunBroch… but there was no redhead in the royal realm quite as well known as the infamously independent Princess, so Catarina didn’t think it was an insult to ask anyway. The smile that rested on her face, surrounding a bubblegum flavored lollipop that she twirled between her fingers as she examined the girl in front of her, spoke to how she would likely be amused no matter how the girl responded.

"Do I know you? Because you look a lot like my next boyfriend! Hmm.. Uh, I was wondering if you had an extra heart because mine was just stolen....no.. You must be a broom because you just swept me- nope. No no no nope nope, no!" So Rory was good at many a things, but flirting? He might as well be in the circus taming a lion. Perhaps it would take pity on him and eat him up so he didn't have to deal with this embarrassment. A soft sigh escaped his lips as the little prince sat on a less than comfy wooden bench near the corn hole tournament. Had he been watching Charming for most of the day like a creep? Perhaps. Was he ashamed? Also perhaps. But what was a young man such as himself supposed to do in such a time? At this moment Rory wished with all of his heart that he had his usual confidence back. Maybe he should just go find some of his friends to take his mind off of all of this?

But as he gazed around he didn't spot anyone that he recognized. At least, nobody that he liked. Alina was off near a tree, talking to some other girl he had never seen before. Rory did his best not to be prejudice against people he had never met, but he just couldn't bring himself to even want to talk to her. Her mother had caused his own too much grief to be forgiven so easily. He knew in the back of his mind that Alina was not her mother and Alice's actions were not connected to her daughter's, but his mother had been clear before she had sent him off to school that Alina and him were not to converse. Not that he wanted to, he reminded himself.

Before deciding that sitting here torturing himself was probably not the way he wanted to spend the festival, a rough collision nearly sent him flying off of the bench. Turning sharply to confront his attacker, his gaze softened when he saw the one and only con-artist of the school, Azura. He wouldn't have classified them as friends, but they were on good terms.

"How about you stop drooling over mister cliche over there and have fun?" Azura commented. Rory gave her a look at the chosen nickname.

"Oh please, he's like the very definition of perfect. It's gross." She nearly spat and Rory laughed.

"Maybe you're just jealous?" He offered, earning himself an annoyed huff. Azura rolled her eyes and walked off without another word, but Rory took her advice and went to go explore.

[div class=container][div class=textbox]niko had been away from arendelle many times. his mother, ever the doting parental figure, had brought niko with him ever since he was a baby. besides, it wasn't like his father would stay home and watch him while his dear mother (also the queen of arendelle) was away on diplomatic missions. so niko got to tag along with his mother, mindful of the hard-faced royal guards who would escort him wherever he wished. it was how he had met gwen, after all. and barry, come to think of it. despite his - what he liked to call - expertise in the field of travel, niko wasn't as well versed on normal teenager things like school. he had done most of his schooling in the privacy of the castle with handpicked mentors and professors, so attending something so public for his education was foreign to niko. however, he was elated with the freedom it bought him, away from the heated and prying eyes of his kingdom's people. wandering across the grounds of the massive courtyard, niko let his eyes take in everything he was seeing. the festival was nothing like any of the festivals back home in arendelle, where everything was homemade and warm, inviting, even. instead, niko's senses were plagued with loud sounds and the heady scent of sugared and greased-up foods, making his stomach turn slightly. turning away from the foods, niko's eyes caught on the waves of chocolate brown hair that he quickly recognized as his cousin, runa. they had grown up together and niko considered himself close to her, but it was still strange to see her at the same school as him. seeing as she was obviously in a conversation with another girl, niko continued on until he came upon the scene of a cornhole tournament. although niko knew of cornhole, he had never gotten the opportunity to play or learn much about it.

Runa

The invitation was unexpected, especially when Runa knew this girl clearly had come here to be alone. It confused her, but the idea of making a friend was too tempting to turn away just because she didn't understand social cues.

With a shy smile, the girl nodded and offered her hand.

"My name is Runa, I'm from Arendelle. It's nice to meet you, Alina!"

Alina was really pretty, and her blonde hair reminded Runa a bit of her mother. She wondered what Mom was doing now....riding Nökk? Playing Charades with Aunt Anna at the Palace? Telling stories to the Northuldra children?

She missed her terribly.

One good thing about a new school year meant new people. James wasn't a social butterfly necessarily, but there was nothing better than a fresh class of girls, ready to find their "Prince Charming". James was no Prince Charming, that was for sure, but after those girls realized how Alex was nothing but a bore, their disappointment and interest in something more fun would always lead them to James. Luckily for them, not only was James more fun, but he was better looking too. And better in bed. But that was a story for another time. James' confidence held no limits, and there was very little that could deter him if he laid eyes on something (or someone) that he wanted, but so far, he wasn't that impressed by anyone who had crossed his path. He chalked it up to his mood just not being right for the chase today, and who did he have to blame for that? The one person who always seemed to catch the blame when James wasn't in a great mood: Jasper. No, his brother hadn't done anything specifically wrong today (other than exist) but James had already convinced himself that having his little brother on campus was going to be a buzzkill, and during his senior year of all times! He told himself that his brother's presence would be a nuisance because he was too soft and passive, an embarrassment to the family name. However, in truth, his annoyance mostly stemmed from knowing that whether he liked it or not, his brother being here meant that James was going to worry about him. Worry about if he had made friends, made friends with the right people, whether he was doing well in his classes, and so on. He hated caring about people. It just made him feel uncomfortable. What was even worse, though, was having to admit it. Even when it came to his brother.

James didn't really care for stupid activities like the ones going on in the courtyard, but it was where he was hanging out today. It was only bearable because he was socializing with a bunch of friends he hadn't seen over the summer, and as always, they were causing a little bit of (wholesome) trouble. It wasn't anything bad; just some good old messing with people. They had joined the cornhole tournament just to purposely play at a stupidly slow speed to slow down the rounds, frustrating those who were actually taking the tournament seriously. James was playing on a team with Aesha, daughter of Kaa, and on the other side, two of Shenzi's kids, Akida and Nia. They were purely messing around, tossing the bags in every which way just to piss people off, and essentially waiting to be kicked out of the game. It wasn't James' fault that some kid, happened to walk by making himself a perfect moving target when it was James' turn to go. The beanbag hit Niko square in the back, which was only mildly disappointing since James wished he had hit him in the head instead. "Hey, watch where you're walking, kid!" he shouted across the lawn with feigned anger, garnering snickers from his friends, though it was quite clear that Niko wasn't walking anywhere near the actual playing area.

She was Runa from Arendelle. Alina had heard about Arendelle and the stories of events that had transpired. Many things about the royal family she had read about in books growing up. It was definitely a place she wanted to visit at some point. Alina had always liked the stories about Elsa as she felt that she connected to it due to the family struggles that were apart of the story.

Runa was wearing some colder clothing that was likely more suited to Arendelle. Alina didn't imagine it would be the most comfortable here in midsummer at Waldovia.
Runa had decided to tag along after all. Perhaps they would find some fun games at the courtyard.

"I bet there will be something to do at the courtyard."
As they made their way over to the courtyard they had found the charming twins joined by Gabriel Kalo. Alina really had been avoiding the twins for a good period of time. Mostly Ella Charming. Alina used to care alot more about popularity and while she was still very much popular, she had fallen into a slump and it became clear to Alina that uncovering the mysteries of her mother's past was the only way to move forward and escape her tortured past. It had been quite difficult to really keep in touch with friends and Alina did feel bad about it, she and Ella were fairly friendly and close so she was dreading how she would react to seeing Alina again.

Looking back to Runa, Alina debated whether to try to move them away from the twins before they noticed them. The twins and the other guy all seemed absorbed in their game anyways and while it wouldn't be a kind idea to try to back off now, Alina couldn't think of how to approach them. Alina really had no interaction with Alex or Gabriel so also wasn't sure if she wanted to be dropped into a conversation with two people she really didn't know personally. One of them would have been bad enough but two was a nightmare.

Still Alina had to break the habit of always avoiding people these past few weeks. It wasn't making her get any better. So she mustered the courage to walk up to them.
"Hey I have some friends that I'm sure would love to hang out with us." Alina told Runa looking back to the Arendelle Girl.
Alina frowned for a moment. Friends. She had one friend at best in that group. Friends was a strong word. Alina couldn't think about this any longer.
Walking up with Runa to the trio of people absorbed in their game Alina made the first greeting.
"Ella.. and Alex and Gabrie. It's been a long time. Sorry I haven't really met you Gabriel. I'm Alina." Alina said carefully. She didn't really want to divulge anything regarding her mother or Wonderland at this point. Nobody needed to know anything.

So she was back for another year here. Makena supposed it could be worse. The festival thing Waldovia insisted on throwing was weird, if a little to try-hard for her taste. Did her parents fall for this type of crap? She hoped not.

Sitting on the front steps of the university, Makena crossed her legs and wiggled her foot back and forth. A part of her was tempted to join the cornhole tournament, but she didn't actually know how to play and figured she would get too frustrated. Growing up as a lion became a bummer when you were only able to play things like hide-and-seek and hunter-and-prey.

Well, her parents were gone, back to Pride Rock, and her brother had gone with them. It would be a while before he was old enough by human standards to come here, and by then Makena would be done, which was a shame.

Cai had yet to come outside, and Makena was getting bored. If her "auntie" didn't come out soon, she was going to end up starting some sort of wrestling match... which actually would be kinda fun. Fingering the necklace her parents had given her, Makena grinned to herself. Would anyone be brave enough to mess with a lioness...?

To be perfectly honest, Jasper was trying to avoid his brother.

Just because he was finally away from his father for the first time in his life didn't mean he was free from him. James was still here, and that meant there was one of two of his worst fears was around. If only Smee was here - if anything, he was more of a father than dear ol' Captain Hook was.

The good thing about being "fresh meat" here was that no one knew who he was. Doubtless, he wouldn't conjure images of his brother at first glance - they weren't very alike - so he hoped to keep himself under wraps and hopefully pass off as some random citizen's kid or something.

After wandering the university grounds for a little bit and stealthily avoiding his brother, Jasper found the library, which was mostly empty, it appeared. Glancing around to make sure no one saw him, he entered the library and dove into the stacks, hoping to find something interesting to read rather than go and face the hordes of people at the festival.

The summer, as always, had been filled with fun and laughter for Kuzco Jr. He'd spent yet another break staying with his "uncle" Pacha and his family. His father had visited whenever he could - when he wasn't doing important emperor things - but he'd spent a lot more time with Pacha and Kronk than his dad. Of course, Kuzco Sr. helped him move into his dorm room, only to hug him and not let go until Malina grabbed his ear and dragged him away.

Now Junior was trying not to cry out of homesickness.

How had he survived last year? Was it the excitement of the festival? Because now that he thought about it, he could handle missing his parents if it meant crashing the corn hole tournament and eating junk food. Chicha never let him eat junk food.

Well, he should just go right now!

Kuzie smiled widely as he made his way through the welcoming festival air. He'd been totally prepared to find an unsuspecting freshman and ask them to join his team for some corn hole, but then he spotted a friend of his.

Normal people waved to their friends or called their name. Not Kuzie. The loving air of his father and three uncles and Chicha and the kids had corrupted his levels of affection until they were unnaturally high. Well. All that and his animal friends, who were currently prancing around somewhere.

"Juuuuuuun!" Kuzco called, leaping and throwing his arms around Jun's shoulders. "How was your summer? You missed me, didn't you?" he asked, rapid-fire. It was good to find someone who appreciated a good time just as much as he did.

Annika leaned against an apple tree and watched as that annoying Charming girl showed a gaggle of freshman girls around. Ever since she'd come to this school, she and Ella had always butted heads. For someone who was supposed to be as kindhearted as her mother, she sure had a strange way of showing it. It was amusing, actually.

Her brother was cute, though.

Glancing around, Annika kept her eye out for Cairo... and for that filthy Beaumont girl. Her lips drew back in a snarl at the thought of the girl who'd broken Cairo's heart. She wasn't worth his time anyway, not that he seemed to agree. In any case, she couldn't find them anywhere.

Spotting a boy she knew and thought was rather entertaining, Annika slowly made her way over to the son of Captain Hook himself. He was yelling at some poor fellow who'd gotten in the way of his rotten cornhole shot.

Leaning an elbow on his shoulder and staring at the poor boy in question (who radiated good), she said, "Now Jimmy dear, don't be such a dick. The poor boy couldn't have known you were such an awful shot." Grinning wickedly, she glanced up at James. "I think you both should apologize to the bean bag."

[div class=container][div class=textbox]it seemed that niko's timing was impeccable in nearing the cornhole tournament, as one of the games he passed happened to have a missed shot, which punched him square in the back. the prince stumbled a bit, caught off guard by the hit from behind. he turned slowly, his face a perfect mask of intimidation, his jaw hard set and his eyebrows furrowed. he watched the brunet snicker with his friends and niko wondered if all of the students were as teasing as this one. before niko could form a reply, the figure of another girl appeared and leaned against the boy who niko assumed had thrown the beanbag. she too turned and looked at niko, her own dark gaze teasing him, challenging him to say something back. if niko's parents had known what kind of students were at the academy, he never would have been allowed to attend. his stone-y gaze broke and a bright smile lit up his features unexpectedly. "that was quite the missed opportunity to hit my head, you know." niko mused, setting a hand on his hip. his norwegian accent was slightly bouncing his words, the lilt shifting up and down throughout his sentence. although niko was fluent in many languages, his norwegian accent prevailed despite years of conditioning to rid his words of the accent. "i would've thought someone as good-looking as you could aim better." he teased, the glint in his eyes bright as he drew closer to the group. now that niko was free from the condescending eye of all his advisors and teachers, the prince was beginning to realize that he could let loose and be himself, something he hadn't been able to do in public for many years. the idea of freedom made his heart hammer excitedly in his chest, all of the possibilities rushing into his head at once. "me? why should i apologize to our beanbag friend over there in the grass?"

Welcome to Waldovia Day had never been a huge deal to Lani, but at least she didn't have to be in class, which was a plus, right? She strolled by some of her classmates who were playing at the various games and socializing amongst themselves. Making her way over to the cotton candy stand, Lani didn't even bother to join the long line of people waiting. She instead marched right up to the front and took what she wanted without even bothering to give up any of her tickets for the treat. Not like the volunteer, who was also a student, would do anything about it.

As she continued to walk around the grounds, she pulled a piece from the fluffy, cloud-like object and deposited it into her mouth, the sugary substance instantly melting on her tongue as she did. She finally came to a halt near Lillian and Caterina, overhearing the brunette asking about the redhead. It was clear Caterina was suggesting the girl was the descendant of Merida, which made Lani giggle a bit. She had seen Lillian around enough to know she was not, in fact, Lani knew precisely who she was. She sought to know who most people were, even if she didn't associate with them. "Last I checked, puppies don't shoot arrows." Lani chimed in, her tone rather matter-of-factly yet still somehow playful.

Gabriel returned to the cornhole playing area with a plate full of sugar dusted funnel cake for himself (or that was the plan... he realized that he would probably have to share once he remembered who he was playing with). As he returned, Alina and another girl were walking over too. Gabe offered them both a friendly smile and wave, before nudging Alex to take some of the sweets off of his plate. The blonde happily obliged, ripping off a piece of the cake and popping it into his mouth before mirroring Gabriel's smile towards the girls. He didn't know Alina that well, but from what he did know, she was a nice girl. She was only a sophomore, but Ella had seemed to accept her last year, so that carried some weight in itself considering how picky his sister was with who she associated with. Alex wasn't much better, but then again, it was just how they were raised. It was important to surround yourself with people of similar levels of prestige and at a school like this, where there were so many unfavorable people hidden in the mix, it was hard at times. Nonetheless, Alex didn't have any reason to think poorly of Alina. The girl she was with was unfamiliar looking, but he had a sense, just from looking at her, that she was a freshman. Freshman year was hard for everyone, at least at the beginning. A whole new school, new people, new classes... it was a lot to take in, and Alex had empathy for most of the freshmen just because he understood how scary it could be at first.

Ella's mind was on a similar wavelength. Even though she had already done her fair share of playing the kind and maternal leader for today with her impromptu tour for some of the new girls earlier, a Princess's duties never truly ended. If someone needed help, being "tired" or not in the mood wasn't a good excuse, not at least by her father's standards. Ella was skilled at putting on a happy face at a second's notice, even if it wasn't always genuine. Right now, her smile was genuine though. For one thing, she wasn't that tired, and secondly, she was happy to see Alina. Summer had been so busy for everyone, and Ella was only now being reminded of how she had neglected some of her friends who weren't in her closest of circles. Alina was a few years below her, but she had proven herself to be a solid friend last year, and Ella hoped that she would get to know the girl better this year too. She came with Runa Oldinburg: a girl who Ella had never personally met before, but who she knew of. Somehow, Ella seemed to know everything about everyone. She had her sources for gossip, yes, but at the same time, she deserved credit for how well versed she was in all of the kingdoms. She knew who her kingdom did business with, who was set to inherit those kingdoms, and who was associated with the royal powers of each. Although Runa's mother had abdicated the her throne in Arrendale, Elsa, and in turn Runa, were still viewed as a part of that royal family by many. Ella knew of her enough to recognize her on sight, and she was pleased that Alina had either already befriended her, or had known her before this to help the girl adjust as a newcomer to the school. "Hey, it's been a minute," she smiled to Alina, knowing that she had to catch up with the girl today. Looking to Runa, she extended a hand, maintaining a similarly friendly smile. "Runa of the Enchanted Forest?" she asked, though she was confident that she was correct even without the confirmation. "I'm Ella Charming of the Faraway Kingdom." Continuing, she nodded to her brother who stood beside her, "This is my brother, Alex, and that's Gabriel, Prince of Maldonia. This is your first year here, right?"

"Nice to meet you," Alex said, offering a handshake to Runa as well, after his sister began to speak with her.

Gabe followed up a second later, extending his hand for a handshake too. "You can call me Gabe, by the way. Nice to be able to leave all the formality stuff back in the kingdoms," he said with a chuckle. Some people did use his full name, Gabriel, but it always made him feel like he was speaking to his father. He preferred his friends calling him Gabe, and he was sure that Ella knew that, but he also didn't fault Ella for being Ella; proper all the time.

Since Ella seemed interested in speaking with the new girl and it seemed like they still had a few moments before the next game started, Gabe turned to Alina. They didn't really know each other; she was right about that, but Gabe was never opposed to making a new friend. "So, how'd your summer go? Do anything fun?" he asked casually, taking another piece of cake off his plate and popping it into his mouth.

Alex would have chimed in to see how Alina had been over the summer, but he just happened to catch James Hook being... well, James Hook. Hitting an unsuspecting bystander with a bean bag was one of the most innocent things that he had seen James do, but given that the victim appeared to be new too, Alex felt inclined to step in. School hadn't even officially started; it was too early for James to be bothering people for no reason. The boy approached James, making it seem like a conflict was nearing, and Annika's presence only added to that. Still, Alex wasn't that worried. He doubted even the two of them were stupid enough to cause trouble this early on. Then again, one glance at their family tree was a good reminder that there was no putting anything past those people. He picked up the bean bag, tossing it into the air and catching it as he strolled over to the group. "Silly of me to have hoped you would've grown up a bit over the summer, wasn't it, Hook?" he mused, announcing his present as he once again tossed the bean bag into the air and catching it. "Niko, is it, yeah?" he asked, glancing over at the boy and hoping that he could come close to his sister's skill at knowing people just by a glance. Granted, it was easier this time around, since Alex had definitely crossed paths with Niko before. Their families' kingdoms did business with each other and as the future heirs of the thrones, it was nearly expected of them (or at least Alex) to begin to learn the way of networking and business since childhood. "You don't need to waste your time with this type of people," he said, opting to use those kinder words over the less-pleasant ones that he could have used to describe James. "They're nothing but trouble."

It was a draw between whether Catarina was more intrigued by how hot she found the girl who walked over to them to be, or by how amazing the cotton candy in her hands looked. With Catarina's sweet tooth and impulsive nature, it was applause-worthy that she didn't reach out and help herself to a pinch of the sugary treat without even asking. Then again, the prettiness of the girl standing before her coupled with her words, and Cat having a lollipop for the moment, was enough to keep her occupied for now.

The puppy reference had Catarina tilting her head in mild confusion. Her eyes lit up and a smile appeared on her face just a half second later though. "Ooooh, I should've known!" she exclaimed. "She does look a little Goofy!" Though the apparent realization that the puppy related comment had to mean that Lillian was related to Goofy may have seemed like a smartass remark, Catarina was genuinely certain that she had made a correct connection between the two this time.

Though she paused to allow the redhead to respond, Catarina's eyes returned to the newly arrived girl. She was tempted to guess who she was a descendant of too, but she couldn't even begin to fathom whose genes she had inherited. It didn't take more than a glance at her though to tell that she wasn't one of those know-it-all goody two shoes type of royals. She definitely had a bad vibe to her, and it was definitely attractive. Cat's mind was still half fixated on getting cotton candy, but the other half was now fixated on befriending this new girl too.

James’ smirk didn’t falter even a fraction as Niko came over, and then Annika, both criticizing James’ throw. The point of all of this wasn’t to actually hurt the kid; just to get under his skin. As far as James was concerned, his job here was done as successfully as he could have hoped, and if he caught some comments about his throw in the process, it was still worth it. James could take a little teasing just as easily as he could throw it. “Your reflexes may suck, but at least we know your eyes are in tact,” he answered, following Niko’s compliment on his ‘good looks’. If he was being sarcastic, James didn’t catch it, and he wouldn’t have cared anyway. With James’ ego, a compliment was a compliment, but he did have half a mind to tell Niko that he wasn’t into guys, but he was sure Charming swung that way. Speaking of the devil, Pretty Boy apparently couldn’t resist the urge to play Hero in a movie he wasn’t cast in, because there he was. James momentarily wondered if Charming actually was gay and that was why he was so obsessed with James. Apparently, he couldn’t even go ten minutes without finding a reason to try and interact with him, but then again, could James blame Alex? As Niko had basically put it, he was irresistible. Before addressing Alex, James turned to Annika, still willing to bask in the weak compliment he received. “See, if you were half as nice to me as Walking Target over here, maybe I’d finally give in and sleep with you,” he teased, because god only knew that James would’ve slept with Annika in a heartbeat, nice or not.

“Charming!” he exclaimed with fake glee, then addressing the fellow-senior. He wasn’t bothered by Charming speaking poorly of them. They were bad news. Charming was just stating the obvious at this point. Part of this whole school was to break the whole stereotype of children of villains being bad, and sure, that was sweet and all, but James was perfectly happy with having a bad reputation. He wasn’t good, and he didn’t care to pretend to be good. The last person he wanted to be like was boring old Charming over here, but he wasn’t going to stop Walking Target from falling into the whole “Good Guy” crowd. It was probably where he belonged, and anyone who wasn’t automatically swinging after being randomly taunted wasn’t someone James felt he could get along with anyway. “My favorite goody-two-shoes on campus!” He glanced to Annika, just to tease her further, with no ground behind his words – just a desire to be an ass. “You know, I’m still counting down the days til Charming charms that resting bitch face right off that pretty little face of yours. Who’d you miss more this summer: me or him? You can be honest, my feelings won't be hurt.”

Lily sighed, she was right, today was definitely not her day. However, ignoring the annoyance of being bothered by children younger than her had become common due to her siblings always clamoring for her attention. A smile stretched across her lips, though it immediately shifted to a smirk as she pursed her lips slightly. "Aw, Lani, don't you have an ocean to terrorize?" she finished with a sweet smile, tilting her head slightly to the side, allowing her hair to fall over her face somewhat.

In all honesty, she didn't mind the daughter of Ursula. She had nothing against her and she couldn't give a damn about who her mother was. And if she was being honest, the way the other girl's brother followed her around sometimes made her want to smile as it reminded her of her own siblings.

This new freshman on the other hand. Well, if she wasn't careful she'd end up making a wonderful chew toy for some puppies back home. "That's real clever, sweetheart." she said in a bright and cheery tone, although the endearment at the end changed the tone of her words. "How long did it take you to come up with that guess after you saw my hair? And your second little 'guess' there? Trust me, this bitch's bite is much worse than her bark." she paused, raising a perfectly manicured brow at the other girl, taking a sip of her drink before she sighed.

"Hopefully this will get you to leave, since you seem to like guessing games. Does the number 101 bring anything to mind?" she asked. "I was hoping for a better activity than being accosted by some poor looking freshman wanting to know who my parents are."
